Clarice Marjorie Christianson, 88, of Northwood, Iowa, died
on Thursday, February 3, at the Lutheran Retirement Home in
Northwood.
Funeral services were held
on Monday, February 6, at 10:30 a.m., at the First Lutheran
Church, Northwood, with Rev. Karen Rossing Grandall
officiating. Burial was in the Sunset Rest Cemetery,
Northwood. Visitation was scheduled on Sunday, from 2-4:00
p.m., at the Schroeder & Sites Funeral Home, Northwood.
Clarice was born on
September 24, 1923, to Fred and Matilda Anderson of Emmons,
Minnesota. She graduated from the Emmons High School in
1941. She worked at the Banquet restaurant in Albert Lea,
Minnesota after high school, where she learned a lot of her
excellent cooking skills. On October 6, 1946, she was united
in marriage to Tillman Christianson and they celebrated 62
years of marriage together. She was a full time wife and
homemaker. Clarice and Tillman always were found together,
whether at work or leisure. She was active in church, ladies
aid, and circle and altar guild at the Silver Lake Lutheran
Church and was currently a member of the First Lutheran
Church in Northwood. Clarice and Tillman farmed in Hartland
Township, Worth County, Iowa, for 50 years. Clarice enjoyed
taking care of the chickens and gathering eggs. She was
known to many as the egg lady because she delivered eggs
around Northwood to different businesses. After moving to
Northwood, she worked for the Northwood-Kensett Elementary
School in the cafeteria and also in the kitchen at the
Northwood Lutheran Retirement Home for a number of years.
Clarice enjoyed playing
cards, square dancing, polka dancing, listening to
barbershop music and entertaining family and friends. She
enjoyed cooking and baking many of her favorite dishes for
family. She loved gardening and taking care of her flowers.
She especially enjoyed playing games with the grandchildren.
Clarice was preceded in
death by her parents; and her husband, Tillman.
She is survived by her two
sons, Tom and his wife, Kathy (Leidal) Christianson and Ron
and his wife, Linda (Hanson) Christianson, both of
Northwood; three grandchildren who are all married,
including Tim (Sara) Christianson, Kim (Heath) Merz and Erin
(Phil) Bubb; and five great-grandchildren, Maddie
Christianson, Gaven Merz, Max, Sam and Emmet Bubb; two
brothers, Howard (Joyce) Anderson of Goldfield and Robert
(Leona) Anderson of Kiester, Minnesota; five nieces; and one
nephew.

Priscilla Olson
February 8, 2012
Priscilla Magdalene Olson, age 96, of Austin, Minnesota,
died on Saturday morning, February 4, 2012, at the Our House
Assisted Living in Austin.
Funeral services were held
at 10:30 a.m., on Tuesday, February 7, at the Faith Lutheran
Church in London, Minnesota, with Pastor Kent Otterman
officiating. Interment followed the service in the Deer
Creek Valley Cemetery, rural Northwood, Iowa. Visitation was
held one hour prior to the services at the church on
Tuesday. The Worlein Funeral Home is assisting the family

She was born on August 1,
1915 in Dawson, Minnesota, the daughter of Hans and Gunda (Hofseth)
Bjornlie. She attended school in Dawson and continued her
education at the Lutheran Bible Institute in Minneapolis.
During World War II, Priscilla worked as a riveter in
Renton, Washington. She returned to Minnesota after the war
and on August 19, 1951, she was united in marriage to
Irville Olson in Dawson, Minnesota. The couple made their
home near Lyle, Minnesota, where Priscilla raised her
family. Irville died on January 27, 2001.
Priscilla was a charter
member of the Faith Lutheran Church in London. She enjoyed
sewing, needle work and crocheting. Her faith and her family
were very important in her life.
Priscilla is survived by
her children, Gary (Caryl) Olson of Austin, Kathy Nornes of
Moorhead and Carol (Phil) Schenck of New Ulm; seven
grandchildren, Keri (Matt) Doyle, Kim Olson and her fiancé,
Marc LeDuc, Leah (Josh) Wirth and Nick Nornes, David (Beth)
Schenck, Michael (Jenny) Schenck and Daniel Schenck and his
fiancée, Rachel Agurkis; five great-grandchildren, Aaron,
Abby, Alex and Katie Schenck and Zoey Wirth; and several
nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death
by her parents, Hans and Gunda Bjornlie; husband, Irville
Olson; and three brothers and seven sisters.

Ellnora Willand
February 15, 2012
Ellnora Willand, 99, of Northwood, Iowa, passed away on
Sunday, February 5, 2012, at the Lutheran Retirement Home,
in Northwood.
Funeral services were held
at 11:00 a.m., on Thursday, February 9, at the First
Lutheran Church in Northwood, with the Rev. Karen Rossing
Grandall officiating. Burial was in the Sion Lutheran
Cemetery, rural Lake Mills. Visitation was held on
Wednesday, from 5-7:00 p.m., at the Schroeder & Sites
Funeral Home, Northwood. Memorials may be given to the
Hospice of North Iowa or to the First Lutheran Organ Fund.
Ellnora was born on March
5, 1912, to Bert and Matilda (Erickson) Anderson of Emmons,
Minnesota. On June 27, 1937, she was united in marriage to
Walter Willand at the Lime Creek Lutheran Church, rural
Emmons. She was a full-time wife and homemaker. She was
active in the church, ladies aid, and circle and altar guild
at the First Lutheran Church in Northwood.
Ellnora’s hobbies included
fishing, crocheting and gardening, puzzles, baking Norwegian
treats and attending baseball games. She especially enjoyed
spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by three
sons, Wayne and his wife, Beverly of Albert Lea, Warren of
Northwood and Ward and his wife, Emilie of Northwood;
grandchildren, Wendy, Wynnette, Wanda, Wayde, Wendell,
Wesley, Sara, Daniel, Matthew, Mark, Erin, Sue and Jesse; 30
great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
Ellnora was preceded in
death by her parents; her husband, Walter; infant daughter,
Marsha; daughtesr-in-law, Joyce Willand and Harriet Willand;
siblings, William Anderson, Arthur Anderson, Malmin
Anderson, Adrian Anderson, Waldemar Anderson and Roscelia
Hagenson.

Martha Knutson

Martha Knutson, age 102, of Northwood, formerly of Lake
Mills, died on Thursday, February 9, 2012, at the Lutheran
Retirement Home in Northwood.
Funeral services were held
at 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, February 11, at the Winnebago
Lutheran Church, rural Lake Mills, with Pastor Randy Baldwin
officiating. Burial was in the Winnebago Lutheran Church
Cemetery. Visitation was on Friday, February 10, from 5-7:00
p.m., at the Mittelstadt Funeral Home in Lake Mills and
continued one hour prior to the services at the church on
Saturday.
Martha Christine (Kloster)
Knutson, was born on February 7, 1910 in Winnebago County,
to parents Jonas and Trina (Lyngaas) Kloster. She was
baptized and confirmed in Scarville and attended country
school. In 1933, Martha was united in marriage with Selmer
“Sam” Knutson at the Lutheran Parsonage in Scarville, Iowa.
The couple made their home farming in Winnebago County until
1959, when they moved into Lake Mills. Martha worked for LM
Plastics for over 30 years while Sam worked for the Lake
Mills Creamery.
Martha enjoyed her family,
spending time with them whenever she was able. She liked to
play bingo, sharing coffee with friends and family, and was
known for her potato salad and baked goods.
Those left to cherish her
memory are her daughter, Shirleen (Keith) Julson of
Northwood; a brother, Charles Kloster of Austin, Minnesota;
sister-in-law, Alvira Kloster of Lake Mills; grandchildren,
Wendy (Richard) Davis of Waterville, Minnesota, Daniel
Julson of Northwood, Kathy (Gene) Eilertson of Northwood and
Kim Hennigar of Northwood; great-grandchildren, Richie
(Kirsten) Davis, Tyler Julson, Hannah Julson, Hunter Julson,
Bryson Hennigar, Levi Eilertson and Sara Rienhardt; and
great-great-grandchildren, Addie Davis, Max Davis, Tatum
Stratton and Jack Stratton; and by numerous nieces, nephews,
cousins and friends.
Martha was preceded in
death by her parents; husband, Sam Knutson; an infant son,
Thomas; a grandson, Steven Julson; and 12 brothers and
sisters.

Chad Williamson

Chad Nathan Williamson died on Friday, February 10, 2012,
from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
Funeral services will be
held at 1:30 p.m., on Thursday, February 16, at the United
Methodist Church in Albert Lea. Rev. Deb Miller will
officiate. Interment will be in the Greenwood Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4-7:00 p.m., on Wednesday, February

Chad Nathan Williamson,
was born on September 20, 1968 in Germany, to Donald Dean
Jr. and Rita (Johnson) Williamson. At the age of nine months
Chad and his family moved back to the United States. He grew
up in Glenville, where he graduated from high school in
1987. Chad was a member of the United Methodist Church in
Glenville, where he was confirmed. After graduation Chad
worked for Cardinal Canvas until the company moved to South
Dakota. Chad then continued his education at Vo-Tech in
Albert Lea studying the electrical program. On October 16,
1993, Chad was united in marriage to Sherry Johnson at the
United Methodist Church in Glenville. Together they were
blessed with two sons, Jordan and Dylan. Chad and Sherry
later divorced. He spent several years working at Farmland
and later at Bridon Cordage as an electrician and
maintenance supervisor. On September 22, 2011, he was united
in marriage to Kim Klapperich at South Lake Tahoe.
Chad was a loving and
devoted husband. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with
all of his children and grandchildren who will greatly miss
their Papa. Chad enjoyed keeping busy and spending time
outside, especially fishing. He was a member of the Fountain
Lake Sportsman’s Club. Chad enjoyed vacationing in Colorado
and was excited for trips to Virginia and Florida this year
with Kim.
Survivors include his
wife, Kim; sons, Jordan Williamson (Melanie Langfald) and
Dylan Williamson; stepchildren, Genika and fiancé, Brandon
Snyder, Mallory and Katie Klapperich; grandchildren, Matisyn,
Mackenzi and Carter; mother, Rita Williamson; sister, Tonya
Williamson; grandmother, Evelyn Williamson; and many aunts,
uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
Chad was preceded in death
by his father, Donald Dean Williamson Jr.; grandparents,
Donald Williamson Sr. and Douglas and Marian Johnson; uncle,
Doug Williamson; and cousins, Derek Olson and William Cech.

Anna Marie Clayton

Anna Marie (Moretz) Clayton, 70, of Austin, Minnesota, died
on Saturday, February 11, 2012, at her home, after a brave
battle against cancer.
Funeral services were held
at 1:30 p.m., on Wednesday, February 15, at the St. Olaf
Lutheran Church, with Rev. Kristi Koppel officiating.
Friends called from 4-7:00 p.m., on Tuesday, at the Mayer
Funeral Home and also one hour before the services at the
church on Wednesday. There was a 6:00 p.m. Eagles memorial
service at the funeral home. Interment was in the Oakwood
Cemetery. Casket bearers were grandsons, Mike Carney, Chad
Myers, Jacob Mulholland, Matthew Jenkins, Brady Mulholland,
Joshua Pedersen and Ethan Pedersen. Lunch followed the
services at the St. Olaf Church.
She was born on December
1, 1941 in Northwood, Iowa, to Guy and Myrtle (Brunsvold)
Moretz. She grew up in Northwood and obtained her GED. On
November 21, 1973, she married Daniel Clayton from Austin,
Minnesota. The couple lived in Austin, where she worked
several jobs and with Dan raised six children. She attended
the St. Olaf Church and was active in many of the church’s
outreach ministries. Anna was proud to be a member of the
Fraternal Order of Eagle’s Auxiliary and served as Madame
President of the Auxiliary for two terms. Her hobbies
included gardening, embroidery, word puzzles, cooking,
homemaking and loving her children, grandchildren and
great-grandchildren.
Survivors include her
husband, Daniel; daughters, Cheryl and Paul Jenkins of
Austin, Robyn and Mark Byers of Austin and Elizabeth and
Brad Mulholland of Lakeville; sons, Randy Pedersen of
Austin, Rodney Pedersen of Austin and Ryan and Jennifer
Pedersen of Visalia, California; 25 grandchildren; 26
great-grandchildren; sisters, Lillian Eskildson of Loyal,
Wisconsin and Marjorie Low of Northwood; brothers, Russell
Moretz of Hanlantown, Arthur Moretz of Northwood, Wayne
Moretz of Bozeman, Montana and Alan Moretz of Northwood.
She was preceded in death
by her parents; brothers, Richard Moretz and Donald Moretz;
brother-in-law, Glen Eskildson; and sisters-in-law, Perilan
Moretz and Irene Moretz.

Benhart Berg

Benhart Royal Berg, 75, of Northwood, died on Sunday,
February 19, 2012, at the Lutheran Retirement Home in
Northwood.
Funeral services were held
at 1:00 p.m., on Wednesday, February 22, at the First
Lutheran Church, Northwood, with Rev. Karen Grandall
officiating. Visitation was held after 12:00 noon, on
Wednesday, at the church.
Benhart Royal Berg, son of
Jeffrey and Marie (Bendickson) Berg, was born on June 30,
1936 in Northwood. He was baptized and confirmed at the
First Lutheran Church in Northwood. He graduated high school
in 1956 from Northwood. On August 4, 1968, he was united in
marriage to Phyllis Aspland at the Salem Lutheran Church in
Lake Mills. Ben was employed at Freeborn Foods in Albert
Lea, where he later retired in 2002.
Ben was a member of the
First Lutheran Church in Northwood. In his free time he
enjoyed fishing, working on cars and feeding the squirrels
peanuts by hand. He was also an employee of Bridley Auto
Salvage.
He is survived by his wife
of 44 years, Phyllis; three children, John Berg (son of a
previous marriage) of Northwood, Curtis Berg of Northwood
and Joan Berg (a special friend, Denny) of Mason City; five
grandchildren, Tina Berg, Tiffany (Joshua) Mellen, Nathan
Berg, Trisha Hagin and Robert; one great-grandchild,
Jessica; two brothers, James (Kathy) Berg of Northwood and
Darrell Berg of Northwood; sister-in-law, Marsha Berg of
Fertile; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Ben was preceded in death
by his parents; three brothers, Jeffrey, Jason and Allen;
and a sister, Sharon.

Marjorie Ann Sime

Marjorie Ann (Hartman) Sime, 80, passed away peacefully on
Thursday, February 23, 2012, at the Lutheran Retirement Home
in Northwood, surrounded by her family.
Funeral services were held
at 11:00 a.m., on Monday, February 27, at the First Lutheran
Church, Northwood, with Pastor Karen Rossing Grandall
officiating. Burial was in the Sunset Rest Cemetery in
Northwood. Visitation was held from 4-6:00 p.m., on Sunday,
at the Conner Colonial Chapel, Northwood. Visitation was
also held one hour prior to the service time on Monday at
the church. The Conner Colonial Chapel, Northwood, was in
charge of the arrangements.
Marjorie was born on July
13, 1931 in Allison, Iowa, the daughter of Rhiner and Edith
(Hilbrand) Hartman. She received her education in the
Allison and Crystal Lake Community Schools, graduating from
the Crystal Lake High School. Marge also graduated from Iowa
Teachers College in Cedar Falls and Mankato State
University, where she earned her Bachelor’s Degree in
Education. Marge began her career in education in St.
Ansgar. She subsequently taught in Northwood before leaving
to raise her family. She resumed teaching in Lake Mills and
retired in 1993 after 27 years. She was united in marriage
to Dale Sime on August 14, 1955, at the United Methodist
Church in Crystal Lake, Iowa. They farmed and raised their
family west of Northwood. They celebrated their 50th
anniversary with a large gathering of family and friends at
Randy Sime’s in 2005.
The joy of Marge’s life
was spending time with her family and friends. She enjoyed
cooking and having her family over for Sunday dinner. She
especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and
taking pictures and videos. The family is blessed with
videos from the mid-1960s to 2004 because of her efforts.
She enjoyed sewing and especially making quilts. She and
Dale had memorable trips to Europe and in the U.S. She was a
faithful member of the First Lutheran Church in Northwood,
and was a member of the Julia Circle and the Kitchen
Committee at the church.
Left to cherish her memory
are her husband, Dale Sime of Northwood; her children,
Glenda (David) Stahl of Mound, Minnesota and Randy (Sandy)
Sime of Northwood; her grandchildren, Katie (Kyle) Baker of
The Colony, Texas, Angie Sime of Sioux Rapids, Iowa, Bryan
Sime of Northwood and Shelby Stahl of Mound, Minnesota; her
sister, Jean (Virgil) Helm of Crystal Lake, Iowa;
sisters-in-law, Agnes Hartman of Crystal Lake and Janiece
Gordon of Albert Lea, Minnesota; a brother-in-law, Donald
(Elaine) Sime of Roseville, Minnesota; as well as many
extended family members and friends.
Her parents; a brother,
Ronald Hartman; sister-in-law, Dorothy Meyer and
brothers-in-law, Warren Gordon and Merrill Meyer; preceded
her in death.

Marlene Olson

Marlene Evelyn Olson, age 74, of Lamar, passed away on
Sunday, February 26, 2012, at the Barton County Memorial
Hospital.
Funeral services were held
at 7:00 p.m., on Thursday, March 1, at the Daniel Funeral
Home, where the family received friends from 5-7:00 p.m., on
Thursday. Burial was in the Jackson Cemetery in Jackson,
Minnesota. Memorial contributions are suggested to the
Hospice Compassus or the American Cancer Society in care of

Marlene was born on
December 1, 1937 in London, Minnesota, one of the four
children of John and Josephine (Morris) Loftaas. On July 17,
1955 at Deer Creek, Minnesota, she married Alton Groven and
this union was blessed by three sons, Stephen, Dennis and
Robert, and a daughter, Allene. After this marriage ended in
divorce, Marlene married Rodney Olson on June 25, 1969 and
they had two sons, Dale and Rod. In addition to being a
homemaker, Marlene had worked for Wells Meat Processing
Plant in Wells, Minnesota; Electricraft Manufacturing in
Minnesota; and from 1981 until 1994, for the Dairy Herd
Improvement Association in Missouri.
She enjoyed crocheting and
many will continue to be warmed by the comfort of the
blankets and Afghans she shared with family and friends. She
loved to feed and watch hummingbirds and was a collector of
angels, birds and ducks. Marlene treasured time spent with
family and the greatest joy in her life was being a grandma.
She was also a Joplin tornado survivor.
Survivors include four
sons and their wives, Stephen and Marilynn Groven of
Brooklyn Center, Minnesota, Dennis and Shelly Groven of
Aurora, Colorado, Robert and Cheryl Groven of Osseo,
Minnesota and Rod and Michelle Olson of Neosho, Missouri; a
daughter, Allene and husband, Ed Belcher of Sheldon,
Missouri; 14 grandchildren, Timothy, Daniel, Stephanie,
Joseph, Jessica, Amy, Amber, Jeremy, Aaron, Jeremy Belcher,
Kim, Tiffany, Taylor and Brent; 21 great-grandchildren; a
sister-in-law, Carol Loftaas; and several nieces and
nephews.
Marlene was preceded in
death by her husband, Rodney; her parents; two brothers,
Keith and James Loftaas; a sister, Mae Hackett; an infant
son, Dale Olson; and two grandchildren, David and Matthew
Groven.

Gene Weitzel

Gene Conrad Weitzel, 79, of Northwood, died on Tuesday,
February 28, 2012, at the Mayo Clinic Health System in
Albert Lea, Minnesota.
Funeral services were held
at 2:00 p.m., on Saturday, March 3, at the Emmanuel Lutheran
Church, Grafton, with Pastor Barbara Wills officiating.
Following the service, military honors were accorded at the
church by members of the “Our Buddies” VFW Memorial Post
#6779 of Northwood. According to his wishes, cremation
followed the funeral service with inurnment at 1:00 p.m., on
Monday, in the Sunset Rest Cemetery in Northwood. Visitation
was held from 4-7:00 p.m., on Friday, at the Conner Colonial
Chapel, Northwood. Visitation was also held one hour prior
to the service time on Saturday at the church. The family
would like to suggest that if friends desire, memorial
contributions may be made to the Sunset Rest Cemetery
Memorial Fund in care of “Our Buddies” VFW Memorial Post
#6779, in Northwood.
Gene Conrad Weitzel, was
born on March 31, 1932 in Wells, Minnesota, the first of 11
children, the son of Conrad “Tony” and Berneice (Genke)
Weitzel. Gene attended the Hayward Country School and Mason
City Schools. Gene joined the Army at the age of 17 on March
18, 1950, and served in the infantry during the Korean
Conflict and received the Purple Heart. He also served in
the Vietnam conflict, receiving the Bronze Star Medal for
keeping the air field at Bien Hoa operating under adverse
conditions. Gene also served two tours of duty in France
with pipeline companies. His family was with him on these
tours and three of his six children were born in France.
Upon retiring from the Army on June 30, 1970, Gene accepted
the position of Chief of Police in Northwood. He also held
various jobs over the years, including security guard at
Winnebago Industries, high school custodian, sheriff of
Worth County, factory work and custodian at the post office.
His favorite job was custodian of the Northwood-Kensett High
School. He loved the kids and took pride in “his” clean
building.
Gene was very active in
VFW and was past commander and quartermaster. He was also
active and a member of the Peace Lutheran Church and knew
God as his Savior. Gene met the love of his life, Verna
Kalvig, a cute WAC at Ft. Riley, Kansas, and after a
whirlwind courtship of three months they were married on May
3, 1952, in the post chapel. Gene loved life, his wife of 59
years and his six children and their families.
Those left to cherish his
memory are his wife, Verna (Kalvig) Weitzel of Northwood;
four sons, Gene Weitzel II and Paul Weitzel of Northwood,
Frank (Donna) Weitzel of Williamsburg, Virginia and John
(Stacy) Weitzel of Waterville, Minnesota; two daughters,
Christine (Arnie) Dorenkamp of Hanlontown and Susan (Luane)
Lau of Glenville, Minnesota; 17 grandchildren; 13
great-grandchildren; one brother, Jack (Sue) Weitzel of
Albert Lea, Minnesota; four sisters, Mary Geistler of Manly,
Elizabeth (Wayne) Groe of Elk Point, South Dakota and Kathy
and Connie of Texas; sisters-in-law, Jackie Anderson of
Albert Lea, Minnesota, Woodie Weitzel of Refugio, Texas,
Dorothy (James) Schoolcraft of Hudson, Caroline Kalvig of
Northwood and Betty Jane Kalvig of Mason City; and
brothers-in-law, Donald (Shirley) Kalvig and Arthur (Cathy)
Kalvig of Northwood; as well as many nieces, nephews and
many other extended family members and friends.
Gene was preceded in death
by his parents, Tony and Berneice Weitzel; four brothers,
Donald in infancy, Billy Dean, John and Robert; his sister,
Marie; and one great-grandson, Courtland.

Marlene Carol Hulshizer, 71, of Northwood, died on Tuesday,
February 28, 2012, at her home.
Funeral services were held
on Friday, March 2, at the First Lutheran Church, Northwood
with Pastor Karen Grandall officiating. Burial was in the
Sunset Rest Cemetery in Northwood. Visitation was held from
5-7:00 p.m., on Thursday, March 1, at the Schroeder & Sites
Funeral Home, Northwood. Visitation was also held one hour
prior to the service time on March 2 at the church.
Memorials may be directed to the Hospice of North Iowa.

was born on March 27, 1940 in Osage, Iowa, the daughter of
Orlo and Della (Perau) Jensen. Marlene was baptized and
reaffirmed the faith of her baptism through confirmation on
April 11, 1954, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in St.
Ansgar, Iowa. She received her education in the St. Ansgar
public schools, graduating from the St. Ansgar High School
in 1958. Marlene also attended Minneapolis Business College.
She was united in marriage to Gerald “Jay” Hulshizer on
September 20, 1959, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in St.
Ansgar and to this union four children were born. After
their marriage Marlene worked as a secretary for Wallace
Johnson in Northwood and for 17 years cooked for Congregate
Meals and Meals on Wheels in Northwood. She also worked
briefly at Sue’s Cornerpost.
Marlene enjoyed spending
time with her family, friends and grand dog Sasha; playing
Shanghai and 500 cards; golfing; fishing; reading;
crocheting; and gardening. Marlene was a member of the First
Lutheran Church and Rachel Circle and held may offices; was
a Sunday School and Bible School teacher and a Boy Scout,
Girl Scout and 4-H Leader. For many years, she was the Girl
Scout Nut Lady; belonged to Twenties Study Club; was Agape
Ministry Coordinator; held several local, district and state
offices in the VFW Auxiliary; and was on the Northwood Board
of Adjustment.
Left to cherish her memory
are her children, Debra Athey of Northwood, Trisha (Doug)
Lang of Osage and Douglas (Erin) Hulshizer of Colorado;
seven grandchildren, Courtney and Mitchell Athey of
Northwood, Abbie and Andrew Lang of Osage and Allison, Kate
and Megan Hulshizer of Colorado; her sister, LaDonna (Tom)
Gratias of Clive; brothers-in-law, Gene Hulshizer of Las
Vegas, Nevada, Ronald (Marcia) Hulshizer of St. Ansgar and
Russell (Marlene) Hulshizer of St. Ansgar; as well as many
nieces and nephews, extended family members and friends.
Marlene was preceded in
death by her parents; husband, Gerald Wayne Hulshizer; son,
Scott Wayne who died in infancy; and a grandson, Nicholas
Drew Hulshizer.
