Hazel (Eenhuis) King, 89, of Mason City, died on Monday, May
3, 2010, at the Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa in Mason
City.
Funeral services were held
on Thursday, May 6, at 2:00 p.m., at the Fullerton Funeral
Home in Mason City. Officiating at the service were Pastors
Don Hochmuth and James Grabitske of the Prince of Peace
Lutheran Church. Burial followed in the Memorial Park
Cemetery. A visitation was held at the funeral home on
Wednesday, May 5, from 6-8:00 p.m. and again one hour prior
to the services.
Hazel was born on April 7,
1921 in Northwood, Iowa, the daughter of William and Hazel
Estes. She graduated from the Hamilton Community College.
Hazel had lived in Hayfield and Kanawha before finally
settling in Mason City in 1961. Following the death of her
first husband, Frank Eenhuis, she was united in marriage to
Joseph King on February 20, 1970, at the Prince of Peace
Lutheran Church in Mason City. Hazel had cooked at Country
House, cleaned at J.C. Penny and was a bookkeeper for Dunn,
Inc. and High Cross Hatchery.
Hazel was a member of the
Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, where she was also a member
of the Ladies Aid. She looked forward to meeting with her
friends for breakfast and enjoyed spending time with her
friends and family. She especially loved playing Yahtzee
with the kids. She also quilted and crocheted in her free
time, as well as watching the birds and butterflies. She was
preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Frank
Eenhuis; son, Dennis Eenhuis; grandchildren, Pattie and
Willie King; brother, Drexell Estes; son-in-law, Charlie
Hubacher; brother-in-law, Leo King, Jr.; father-in-law, Leo
King; and all of her in-laws in the Eenhuis family.
Those left to cherish her
memory include her husband, Joseph; children, Karen Hubacher
of Mason City, Bill (Steph) King of Mason City, Pam (Mark)
Kleven of Mason City, Teresa (Steve) Harms of Hampton, Nancy
(Tim) Young of Mason City, Tom (Phyllis) King of Dows, Nancy
Jo Rodriguez of Austin, Texas and Joey (Jessica) King of
Jacksonville, North Carolina; 24 grandchildren; 28
great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild;
sister-in-law, Bernice Estes of Northwood; and many nieces
and nephews.

Mina O. Stoffregen
May 12, 2010
Mina O. Stoffregen, 92, of Northwood, died on Wednesday, May
5, 2010, at the Lutheran Retirement Home in Northwood.
Funeral services were held
at 3:00 p.m., on Saturday, May 8, at the Northwood United
Methodist Church, Northwood, with Pastor Wendi Gillan
officiating. Burial was in the Sunset Rest Cemetery in
Northwood. Visitation was held from 2:00 p.m., until the
service time on Saturday at the church. The Conner Colonial
Chapel, Northwood, was in charge of the arrangements.
Mina was born on July 16,
1917 in East St. Louis, Illinois, the daughter of Reuben and
Odie (Hodge) Henson. She attended school in Lytton, Iowa.
Mina was united in marriage to Edwin Stoffregen on September
22, 1936. Together they farmed at Sac City, Iowa, before
moving to Northwood in 1952, where they farmed and spent the
rest of their lives.
Mina enjoyed traveling and
flower gardening. She also enjoyed spending time with her
children and grandchildren. Mina worked at the gift Shop in
Northwood for many years.
Those left to cherish her
life are her children, Patricia (Daryl) Larson of
Marshfield, Wisconsin and Charles Stoffregen of Northwood;
son-in-law, James Starkey of Nisswa, Minnesota; four
grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; as well as other
extended family members and friends.
Mina was preceded in death
by her parents; husband, Edwin; her daughter, Laura Starkey;
an infant sister; and her brother, Frederick Henson.

Donald Duane Hogen
May 12, 2010
Donald Duane Hogen, 81, of Northwood, died on Tuesday, May
11, 2010, at the Mitchell County Memorial Hospital, Osage.
Memorial services will be
held at 1:30 p.m., on Saturday, May 15, at the First
Lutheran Church in Northwood, with the Rev. Daniel Hart
officiating. Burial will be in the Sunset Rest Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 5-7:00 p.m., on Friday, May 14,
at the Schroeder & Sites Funeral Home in Northwood.
Memorials may be given to the Heating Fund at the First
Lutheran Church, Northwood.
Donald Duane Hogen, was
born on July 2, 1928 in Brookfield Township, in Worth
County, Iowa, the son of Truman and Florence (Peterson)
Hogen. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith
by the Rev. Th. Sigmond. He attended the rural Brookfield
Township School and the Kensett High School. He enlisted in
the Army in October of 1946 and served until March of 1948.
While in the Army he was a member of the United States
Occupational Force in Japan. Donald married Virgean Aamodt
in June of 1956 and she died in September 1957. He married
Lois Ann Olson on June 6, 1959 in Northwood and they made
their home in Northwood. Donald farmed with his brothers for
several years and worked at the Sugar Beet Plant, Rilco
Rafters in Albert Lea, Minnesota and at the Lutheran
Retirement Home for 35 years.
Donald was a member of the
First Lutheran Church and was an usher. He was a member of
the Elk Grove Cemetery Association.
Donald was preceded in
death by his parents; brothers, Arnold and Obert; and
sister, Deloris Banken.
He is survived by his
wife, Lois of Northwood; brother, Marvin (Irene) Hogen of
Gasville, Arkansas; sister-in-law, Blanche Hogen of
Northwood; and nieces, nephews and cousins.

Margaret Jane
(Hungerford) Wilkins

Margaret Jane (Hungerford) Wilkins, 81, of Northwood, died
at her residence on Tuesday, May 18, 2010.
Graveside services were
held on Friday, May 21, at 2:00 p.m., at the Park Cemetery,
Nora Springs, Iowa. Visitation was on Thursday, from 5-7:00
p.m., at the Schroeder & Sites Funeral Home, Northwood.
Margaret was born on
November 27, 1929, to Archie and Nellie (Carey) Hungerford
in Worth County, Iowa. She was the oldest of four children.
In 1948, she graduated from the Manly High School, Manly,
Iowa. Margaret worked several jobs in Mason City, Iowa,
while living with her grandmother after graduation. She
married the love of her life, Loren H. Wilkins in 1955. They
had one son, Michael. They farmed together for 40 plus years
at Manly.
She enjoyed the farm life.
Other enjoyments were shopping, flowers, traveling and
spending time with her family and friends. In May 2008, she
moved to the Maple Court Apartments in Northwood.
She was preceded in death
by her parents, Nellie and Archie Hungerford; husband, L.H.
Wilkins; and sister, Maryann Crum.
Margaret is survived by
her son, Michael (Angela) Wilkins of Northwood; sister,
Shirley Madden of Mason City; brother, William Hungerford
(Virginia Hazelett) of Manly; brother-in-law, Dorlin Crum of
Mason City; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Ione May Novitski
May 26, 2010
Ione May Novitski, 75, of 1503 third Ave. South, died on
Wednesday, May 19, 2010, at her home.
It was Ione’s wish for her
body to be cremated. A memorial service was held at 2:30
p.m., on Saturday, May 22, at the Conner Colonial Chapel,
Northwood, with Reverend Dennis Ganz officiating.
Ione Hecker, was born on
May 28, 1934 in Barnum, Minnesota, the daughter of Clarence
and Trilby (Sprouse) Hecker. She attended school in Barnum
and Carlton, Minnesota. In 1953, she was united in marriage
to Martin Brandt and to this union four children were born.
In 1964, she was united in marriage to William Novitski. To
this union two children were born and extending her family
by becoming a step-mother of four children. Ione worked
several part time jobs finding more joy in being a homemaker
and taking care of her family.
Ione enjoyed Bingo,
writing pen pals, cooking, canning, gardening, crossword
puzzles and playing card games! Her greatest love was
spending time with her family.
Ione is survived by her
husband, Bill Novitski of Northwood; children, Daryl
(Virginia) Brandt of Signal Hill, California, Cat (Dave)
Vogel of Northwood, Barb Jensen of Albert Lea, Minnesota,
Pat (Doug) Jasper of, Northwood and Jeff Novitski of
Maryville, Tennessee; son-in-law, Jerry Reupke of
Stewartville, Minnesota; step-children, Susan (Joseph)
Tomaszski of Superior, Wisconsin, Toni (Daryl) Novitski of
Moose Lake, Minnesota, Bill Novitski of Willow River,
Minnesota and Marilyn (Keith) Johnson of St. Peter,
Minnesota; siblings, Mary Jean (Jim) Flasch of Zimmerman,
Minnesota, Gloria Stoneburner of Barnum, Minnesota, Vernon
Hecker of Spokane, Washington, Lennon (Melva) Hecker of
Moose Lake, Minnesota and Algernon (Rose) Hecker of
Anchorage, Ark.; 23 grandchildren; and 15 great
grandchildren; along with several nieces, nephews, other
relatives and friends.
Ione was preceded in death
by her parents; daughter, Lynne Reupke; granddaughter,
Christina Reupke; grandson, Jason Jensen; and brother,
Clemens Hecker.

Irene J. Hackbart
May 26, 2010
Irene J. Hackbart, age 85, of Grafton, died on Wednesday,
May 19, 2010, at the Lutheran Retirement Home in Northwood.
Funeral services were held
at 10:30 a.m., on Monday, May 24, at the Emmanuel Lutheran
Church in Grafton, with Rev. Ronald Bolinger officiating.
Burial was in the Grafton Cemetery. Visitation was from
5-7:00 p.m., on Sunday, at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home
in Osage.
Irene was born on June 24,
1924 in St. Ansgar, Iowa, the daughter of Walter and Anna (Neuman)
Behl. She attended grade school in St. Ansgar and then moved
with her family to a farm southeast of Grafton. She
graduated from the Plymouth High School. Irene was united in
marriage to Walter Hackbart on December 29, 1946, at the
Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Grafton. They farmed in the
Grafton area all of their lives.
Irene was a member of the
Emmanuel Lutheran Church for over 70 years. She was very
active in church activities and taught Sunday School for
several years. She was also very active in volunteering in
her community. Irene enjoyed baking, artistic painting,
cooking and especially loved spending time with her family.
Irene is survived by her
children, Philip (Gloria) Hackbart of Kensett, James (Karen)
Hackbart of Plymouth, Minnesota, Kathy (Mark) Johnson of
Ankeny and Paul (special friend, Kim) Hackbart of Grafton;
10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and a sister,
Pearl (John) Sauke of Story City.
She was preceded in death
by her parents; her husband, Walter Hackbart in 1986; her
infant son, Mark; and a sister, Shirley Roisen.
