Rosalie Vera
(Nelson) Olson

Rosalie Vera (Nelson) Olson, 72, of Mason City, died on
Thursday, July 1, 2010, at her home.
Memorial services will be
held at 11:00 a.m., on Friday, July 9, at the First United
Methodist Church in Mason City, with Rev. Jim Stiles of the
First United Methodist Church and Father Kenneth Gehling,
Chaplain, Mercy Medical Center, officiating. Visitation will
be from 5-7:00 p.m., on Thursday, July 8, at the Major
Erickson Funeral Home. Inurnment will be in the Memorial
Park Cemetery.
Rosalie Gill, was born on
January 29, 1938 in Kensett, Iowa, the daughter of Stephen
and Vera (Fent) Gill. She graduated from the Kensett High
School in 1956 and then attended the St. Joseph Mercy School
of Nursing, graduating in 1959. In 1960, she moved to Mason
City. Rosalie married Loren Nelson on April 23, 1960 in
Manly, Iowa and later married Paul Olson on September 12,
1998 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Through the years, Rosalie worked
as a RN at Mercy Hospital for 14 years and the Mason City
Clinic – Urology for 10 and one half years.
She was a member of the
First United Methodist Church, where she was involved in UMW
and was the District Resource Director. She was also a
member of the Mercy Nursing Alumni. She was a huge sports
fan who always cheered for the Minnesota Twins, Vikings, and
Iowa Hawkeye’s. She enjoyed reading, camping, traveling and
visiting shut-ins. Her main focus was always her family.
Rosalie is survived by her
husband, Paul B. Olson of Mason City; her children, Scott
Nelson and wife, Daisy of Loxahatchee, Florida, Elizabeth
Kelly and husband, Dennis of Clear Lake and Brian Nelson and
wife, Susan of Northwood; three step-children, Brent Olson
and wife, Amy of Missouri Valley, Kim Olson and Simo of
Chicago, Illinois and Julie Kuecker and husband, Troy of
Prairie City, Iowa; five grandchildren, Brandon and Zachary
Kelly, Ashley, Brock and Lance Nelson; five
step-grandchildren, Chase, Alexis and Tyler Kuecker, Jessica
and Rachael Olson; three sisters, Patricia Fandel and
husband, John of Golden, Colorado, Bonita Kral and husband,
Roger of Glenville, Minnesota and Sandra Anderson and
husband, Wayne of Athelstane, Wisconsin; and by many nieces
and nephews.
She was preceded in death
by her parents; and one brother, Gary Gill.

Evelyn Irene (Grouette)
Brunsvold
July 14, 2010
Evelyn Irene (Grouette) Brunsvold, 82, of Hanlontown, Iowa,
died on Sunday, July 4, 2010, at the Heritage Care Center in
Mason City, Iowa.
Funeral services were held
at 10:30 a.m., on Friday, July 9, at the Elk Creek Lutheran
Church in rural Kensett, Iowa, with Pastor Linda Johnson and
Pastor Denny Hudson officiating. Visitation was held from
6-8:00 p.m., on Thursday evening, at the Mittelstadt Funeral
Home, Lake Mills and again one hour prior to the services at
the church. Burial was in the Concordia Cemetery in rural
Joice, Iowa.

Gerald Lynn
Fredericks
July 21, 2010
Gerald
Lynn Fredericks, 83, of Osage, died on Wednesday, July 7,
2010, at the Faith Lutheran Home in Osage.
Funeral services were held
at 10:30 a.m., on Saturday, July 10, at the First United
Methodist Church in Osage, with the Rev. Anna Blaedel
officiating. Burial was in the Osage Cemetery. Gerald was
taken to the Osage Cemetery by his beloved 1950 Oliver 66
tractor. Visitation was held from 5-8:00 p.m., on Friday, at
the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage.
Gerald was born on
February 6, 1927, to Albert John and Nellie Edith (Sherer)
Fredericks, in Geneva. He graduated from the Geneva High
School in 1945. On June 12, 1949, he married Donna M.
Stackhouse at The Church of Christ in Hampton. Gerald worked
as carpenter after his graduation from high school and
became a farmer in Hansell on March 1, 1950. In 1969, they
moved to a farm west of Osage. Gerald took great pride in
having a well kept farmstead. He instilled in his children
any job or undertaking of projects be done as if it were
their own.
Gerald was an avid sports
fan. He played basketball, softball and was a baseball
pitcher and first baseman. Gerald taught every child how to
throw a baseball and softball. He coached a Farm Team,
Little League and Babe Ruth teams. Gerald was a devoted fan
of the St. Louis Cardinals. He loved watching his boys
wrestle and followed his children's activities faithfully.
Gerald enjoyed playing saxophone and was a great dancer. He
was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Osage,
where he served on various committees.
Gerald is survived by his
wife, Donna of Osage; his children, Wayne (Ruth) Fredericks
of Osage, Alan (Rose) Fredericks of Northwood, Bill (Julie)
Fredericks of Thornton, Colorado, Sandy (Randy) Adams of
Osage, Ivan (Robin) Fredericks of Northwood and Dee Ann
Fredericks (Paul Leinen) of Des Moines; 10 grandchildren;
and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death
by his parents; his son, Jeffery Jay in 1984; and a brother,
Donald.

Connie J. Buckman
July 21, 2010
Connie J. Buckman, 58, of Forest City, surrounded by her
family, died on Thursday, July 15, 2010, following a long
battle with cancer, at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient
Unit in Mason City.
Funeral services were held
at 1:30 p.m., on Saturday, July 17, at the Immanuel Lutheran
Church in Forest City, with Pastor Rod Hopp officiating.
Burial was in the Madison Township Cemetery in rural Forest
City. Visitation was from 4-7:00 p.m., on Friday, July 16,
at the Petersen Lund Funeral Home in Forest City and an hour
prior to the services at the church.
Connie Jean Buckman, was
born in Mason City on August 1, 1951, the daughter of Lloyd
and Virginia (Briggs) Dralla. She graduated from the
Northwood-Kensett School. Connie was united in marriage to
Danny Buckman on December 13, 1975, at Northwood. To this
union two children were born. Connie worked at Winnebago
Industries for 35 years and retired due to health reasons on
November 13, 2009.
Connie enjoyed bowling,
quilting with her sister Corie, traveling and spending time
with her family.
She is survived by her
husband, Danny Buckman; and her sons, Lloyd (Jill) Buckman
and Jason Buckman; sisters, Janice (Robert) Hall, Corie
(Richard) Rieman, Christina (Howard) Shepard and Ginger
(Travis) Holtz; brothers, Lloyd (Vicki) Dralla, Carl Dralla
and Curtiss (Terri) Dralla; brothers-in-law, Terry (Raynette)
Buckman and Larry (Janie) Buckman; and many nieces, nephews,
great-nieces and great-nephews.
Connie was preceded in
death by her parents; her in-laws; nephew, Jacob Dralla;
brother-in-law, Perry Montgomery; and sister, Marian
Montgomery.

Pearl A. Mittag
July 21, 2010
Pearl
A. Mittag, age 88, of Albert Lea, died on Sunday, July 18,
at the St. John’s Lutheran Home.
Funeral services will be
held on Wednesday, July 21, at 2:00 p.m., at the Bethlehem
Lutheran Church, Myrtle, Minnesota. Pastor Ronald Myers will
officiate. Burial will be in the Pilgrim’s Rest Cemetery.
Visitation was on Tuesday, from 6-8:00 p.m., at Bayview/Freeborn
Funeral Home and one hour prior to the services at the
church.
Pearl Anna (Virchow)
Mittag, was born on November 28, 1921, to Ervin and Anna (Knaack)
Virchow in Freeborn County. She was baptized and confirmed
at Bethlehem Lutheran and attended country school near
Gordonsville. On November 28, 1940, she was united in
marriage to Gaylen August Mittag at the Bethlehem Lutheran
Church. Pearl and Gaylen were lifelong farmers in the Myrtle
area. She was an active member of the churches ladies
groups. After retiring she and Gaylen moved into a townhouse
in Albert Lea where she made many new friends around the
neighborhood.
Pearl enjoyed cooking for
her family and friends and was famous for her yummy apple
pies and cinnamon rolls. She loved having her grandchildren
come and stay with her. She had many beautiful flowers in
her yard. Pearl spent many hours tending to her vegetable
garden and canning in the fall. She will be deeply missed by
all who knew her.
Survivors include her
children, Gerald (Judy) Mittag of Wabasha, Minnesota,
Darlene (Laverne) Hauge of Glenville, Minnesota, Marilyn
(Dwayne) Anderson of Mankato, Minnesota and Raymond (Lydia)
Mittag of Glenville, Minnesota; 11 grandchildren; many
great-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren;
sisters-in-law, Fern Virchow of Glenville, Minnesota and
Luetta Wolff of Chandler, Arizona; brother-in-law, Wilbur
Mittag; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Pearl was preceded in
death by her parents; husband, Gaylen; mother-in-law, Olga
Broitzman; sister, Doris Virchow at age five; brothers,
Arley, Russell and Glen Virchow; nephew, Bruce Virchow;
sisters-in-law, Bertha Virchow, Delores Virchow and Evelyn
Mittag; brothers-in-law, Luverne Mittag and Edward Wolff;
and sons-in-law, Paul A. Schmidt and Larry Williamson.

Larry Foss
July 21, 2010
Larry Foss, 74, of West Des Moines, was born on September 9,
1935, to Harlon and Ione Foss in London, Minnesota. He
graduated from the Northwood High School in 1954 and
attended Iowa State University. Larry was joined in
matrimony to Mary Allison on June 19, 1965. They lived in
West Des Moines, Iowa and enjoyed gardening and travel. They
were members of St. Mark's Lutheran Church.
Survivors include
daughter, Elizabeth "Susie" Foss of Winterset; and brothers,
John Foss of Albert Lea, Paul Foss of Northwood and Mike
Foss of Northwood.
He was preceded in death
by his wife; sister, Joanne Thompson; brothers, Allan Foss
and Bernie Foss.
He served in the United
States Army under the 60th Infantry Regiment Medical Company
as a paramedic from 1955 to 1957 and was stationed in
Germany. After the military, Larry was an insurance
specialist for grain elevators. He worked for MSI and
Cooperative Mutual Insurance Company.
A memorial service will be
held at 1:00 p.m., on Saturday, July 24, 2010, at the Dunn's
Funeral Home in Des Moines. Burial will follow in the
Woodland Cemetery.

Lois Ann Patterson

Lois
Ann Patterson, 62, of Northwood, Iowa, died on Wednesday,
July 21, 2010, at the Muse-Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit,
Mason City, Iowa.
Funeral services were held
at 10:00 a.m., on Monday, July 26, at the First Lutheran
Church, Northwood, with Rev. Wendi Gillan officiating.
Burial was in the State Line Cemetery.
Visitation was held on
Sunday, from 5-7:00 p.m., at the Schroeder & Sites Funeral
Home, Northwood.
Lois Ann Patterson, was
born in Albert Lea, Minnesota, on April 16, 1948, to
Lawrence and Evalyn (Barber) Arrett. She graduated from the
Northwood-Kensett High School in 1966 and attended the
Hennipen County General Hospital College of X-ray Technology
in 1968. She married Richard Ivan Patterson on February 14,
1969. They had three daughters, Darci Kaye Sanderson, Robyn
Ann Wilder and Valerie Renee Anderson. She worked as an
X-ray tech for several years before working 23 years for
FedEx. FedEx was her passion, she loved the company and made
many friends through the years, while delivering on her
route. She retired from FedEx in 2007 and pursued her Iowa
Real Estate License. She worked for Schoneman GMAC Real
Estate and then later Edwards Brandt Iowa Realty.
Lois was a devoted and
loving wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed spending
time with her friends and family, classic car cruises,
camping, traveling and especially her trip to Hawaii with
their special friends, Monte and Vicki Swanson. Lois was
diagnosed with breast cancer in 2007 and lost her long
battle. She will truly be missed by her family and friends.
Lois is survived by her
husband, Richard Patterson; daughters, Darci (Mike)
Sanderson, Robyn (Gordon) Wilder and Valerie Anderson;
siblings, Karen (Arrett) Hove, Donald Arrett and James
Arrett; grandchildren, Nicole Sanderson, Brianna Sanderson,
Derek Sanderson, Jacob Sanderson, Nathan Wilder, Drew
Wilder, Briar Anderson and Peyton Wilder; and many nieces
and nephews.
She was preceded in death
by her parents, Lawrence and Evalyn Arrett; brother, Robert
Arrett; and nephew, Todd Hove.
