League
City, Texas - Jenifer A. (Hall)
Rasmussen Goodling, 62, of League City,
Texas, passed on to her Savior on July
4, 2012, at her home in League City,
Texas, of natural causes.
A memorial service for Jenifer will be

Kenneth B. Gehling officiating.
Inurnment will follow at Memorial Park
Cemetery in Mason City.
Should friends desire, memorial
contributions may be left in Jenifer's
name in care of her family.
Jenifer was born in Mason City on July
26, 1949, to Roger and Lola Hall. She
attended Mason City High School and
graduated in 1967. She married Lyn
Rasmussen in 1968 and they had one
daughter, Amy Elizabeth.
Jenny worked for JC Penney for many
years as manager of the catalog
department. She and Lyn lived in Flint,
Mich., Savannah, Ga., and Delray Beach,
Fla.
In 1975, Lyn passed away and Jenny and
Amy moved back to Savannah, Ga., where
she met Michael Goodling. She and
Michael were united in marriage in 1977.
They then moved to St. Louis, Missouri.
Jenny worked for a pediatric
oncology/cardiology group for several
years in St. Louis. She loved working
with the children and was very happy for
all the families when their children
recovered from their illness. She was
always very sad when they lost a
patient. The office was like one big
family.
In 2003, Jenny became very ill and we
almost lost her then. Once she
recovered, she moved closer to her
daughter, Amy, and her granddaughter,
Savannah, in League City, Texas, where
she worked for another medical office.
Family and friends were very important
to Jenny. She loved spending time with
Amy and Savannah. She often picked
Savannah up from school and spent the
rest of the day with her until Amy would
get there.
When not at work, Jenny spent time at
her church. She taught Sunday school and
donated her time to help with whatever
they were working on at the time. She
was always doing for others and enjoyed
every minute of that.
Jenny had the greenest thumb of anyone
in the family. She loved planting
flowers with Savannah, inside and
outside of her home. There was not
anything she could not grow when she
tried.

Clear
Lake,
Iowa - Gerald "Jerry" Lindsay, 85, Clear
Lake, Iowa, passed away on Nov. 6, 2012,
at Hospice of North Iowa, Mason City,
Iowa.
His body was donated to the Deeded Body
Program, University of Iowa. A
celebration of Jerry's life will be held
at the Clear Lake United Methodist
Church, 508 Second Ave N., Clear Lake at
11 a.m., Monday, Nov. 19, with the Rev.
Bernie Colorado officiating.
Memorials can be directed to the Clear
Lake United Methodist Church or Hospice
of North Iowa.
Jerry was born to Lester and Vesta (Billman)
Lindsay on June 15, 1927. At age 2, his
parents were divorced and he lived with
his mother and older brother, Larry, at
the home of his grandparents, Henry and
Laura Billman. They spent summers at
their cottage on the North Shore of
Clear Lake, where he learned to swim and
to fish. He attended Monroe Elementary,
Monroe Junior High School and graduated
from Mason City High School.
While in his senior year of high school,
he joined the Navy, along with many of
his friends and classmates. He went to
boot camp and Service School at Great
Lakes Naval Training Center, and
received the rank of gunner's mate.
He was assigned to the LST 668 and went
to the Philippine Islands. They left
there in a huge convoy for the invasion
of Japan. The atomic bomb was dropped on
Japan while on their way and the convoy
turned around. After spending some time
in Pearl Harbor, they returned to the
United States and he was honorably
discharged in May of 1946.
After his discharge from the Navy, he
married his high school sweetheart,
Katie Buffington, on Oct. 5, 1946, at
the First United Methodist Church in
Mason City. They recently observed their
66th anniversary.
After a five-year apprenticeship, Jerry
became a journeyman steamfitter, and
later became a master plumber as well.
He was a proud member of Plumbers and
Steamfitters Local 405, Mason City. He
worked on many interesting jobs around
the state and country, including a job
in Hawaii where he and Katie lived for
five months.
An avid hunter and fisherman, Jerry
loved hunting ducks and geese with
longtime friends Jack Young and Hart
Johnson. He made his own duck boats and
blinds, and every weekend in season,
often accompanied by one of his sons, he
would be out on a marsh calling in the
ducks or geese. He also enjoyed the
pheasant season, packing the whole
family in their nine-passenger station
wagon, with a great lunch along.
He loved Clear Lake and knew its reefs,
depths and shallows, long before modern
electronics. For several years he raised
northern in ponds and when big enough
released them into the lake. He was
involved with the C.L.E.A.R. project for
the restoration of the lake. He was
instrumental in getting the DNR to put
in a reef on the north shore of the
lake, and advised the DNR on it
location.
He was a member of the All Vets Golf
Course for 40 years, and he and Katie
played in many husband-wife tournaments
during the summer. He was a member of
the V.F.W., Disable American Veterans,

Lucile Reed Ryan, the third child of
James and Cecil (Reed) Ryan, was born
March 31, 1917, in Garner. After her
mother's death during the flu epidemic
of 1919, her siblings were adopted by
their grandparents, Herbert and Jennie
Reed. Lucile, then 2 years of age, was
adopted by Dr. J.S. "Sam" and Emma
Wesson, also of Garner. Dr. Wesson was a
veterinarian in Garner.
Lucile joined the United Presbyterian
Church in Garner on March 18, 1927, when
the Bruce Gillis was the pastor. She and
her parents joined the church after the
First Congregational Church disbanded.
Lucile graduated from Garner High School
in 1934. She continued her education at
Coe College in Cedar Rapids but was
forced to quit due to illness. Later she
went to AIB in Des Moines and just six
weeks prior to graduation she was
offered a job at Hancock County National
Bank in Garner. She worked there for six
and one-half years until she was offered
a job at Iowa Des Moines National Bank.
She later took a position at Valley Bank
in Des Moines. She worked in Des Moines

soloist at the Cottage Grove
Presbyterian Church when she lived in
Des Moines. Lucile sang for numerous
organizations and at conventions.
Lucile's pride and joy for more than 25
years was her Siamese cat, Dolly. Dolly
was a stray cat that came to Lucile's
door hungry and never left again. Her
favorite color was "green" and her
"special day" was March 17. You guessed
it - she was Irish! Lucile's hobbies
included music, gardening, and being
