Following their marriage at Riceville in 1968, Susie and Russ lived in Germany, Georgia, Ohio and Michigan before moving to Minnesota in 2003. Susie was a special education teacher for several years before becoming a devoted, full-time homemaker.

Susie’s great joys were her many knitting, cross stitch, basket weaving and quilting projects, and always had several in process and many more in the queue. Friends marveled how she could knit or cross stitch while watching her sons’ athletic events and never seem to miss a stitch or a play!

Her family and friends will miss her thoughtfulness, generosity and love.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 20, at the First Congregational Church in Riceville, followed by a luncheon.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Susan’s memory are preferred: American Association of Cancer Research (www.aacr.org) or Lifeline of Hope International Orphan Aid and Adoption (www.lifelineofhope.org).
