where he
earned a

degree
and set
many
school

Conference
records
as a
wide
receiver.
He was
honored
in his
senior
year at
ISU when
he was
selected
to play
in the
Blue
Gray
game in
Montgomery,
Ala.,
and in
the
Senior
Bowl in
Mobile,
Ala. He
was then
drafted
by the
St.
Louis
Cardinals
professional
football
team,
where he
played
one
year,
and then
went on
to play
for a
year in
the
Canadian
professional
football
league.
For the
last 37
years,
Tom went
on to
coach
and
teach
school
in
Klemme,
Iowa,
Cedar
Rapids
Washington
and
Jefferson
High
Schools,
and
Wilson
and
Roosevelt
Middle
Schools.
Tom had
many
hobbies
and
especially
enjoyed
playing
on
various
slowpitch
softball
teams,
as well
as many
major
fast
pitch
softball
teams,
including
Butt’r
Topp out
of Clear
Lake,
The
Bombers
out of
Des
Moines,
Collins
Radio
out of
Cedar
Rapids,
JSK
Engineering
and
Mahoneys
in Cedar
Rapids
where he
made
life-long
friends.
He was
inducted
into the
Iowa
Fast
Pitch
Hall of
Fame in
1998,
the
Cedar
Rapids
Hall of
Fame in
1999 and
the Iowa
High
School
Football
Hall of
Fame.
He was a
member
of CREA

Catholic
Church.

Lorraine Mitchell
MASON CITY — Lorraine Mitchell, 92, of Mason City, died Tuesday (Dec. 5, 2006) at Good Shepherd Health Center in Mason City.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday (Dec. 8, 2006) at the Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave., with the Rev. Jim Stiles of First United Methodist Church officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Lorraine Lemke was born April 24, 1914, the daughter of William and Ethel (Whitney) Lemke, of rural Garner. She attended rural school through eighth grade and graduated from Klemme High School in 1931. She was baptized and joined Liberty Methodist Church near Klemme. She later transferred to First United Methodist Church in Mason City and continued to be member there.
Lorraine and her sister, Ethel, came to Mason City in 1931. She worked various places and spent five years at Weeds Pharmacy, 400 N. Federal Ave.
On March 18, 1939, she was united in marriage to Monnie J. Mitchell at the Methodist church in Mason City. She continued to live in Mason City.
Her husband, Monnie Mitchell, passed away on Oct. 14, 1975. They spent six winters in Mesa, Ariz. Lorraine continued to spend her winters in Mesa until 1997 when she and her sister, Ethel Volkman, moved to the Willows. After the death of Ethel she moved to The Manor and Kentucky Ridge before moving to Good Shepherd in 2004.
She was a former member of Midland Study Club, a Real Estate Broker with W.L. Patton for 10 years, and a Gray Lady for Red Cross for many years, and activity chairman at her church for WSCS for a number of years.
She is survived by three brothers, William W. Lemke of Weyerhauser, Wis., Byrnes Lemke and wife, Stella, of Mason City, and Laurice Lemke of Garner; 10 nieces and nephews, Gwen Suntken and husband, Byron, of Meservey, Paige Rohlf and husband, David, of Altoona, Iowa, Lynn Lemke and wife, Valerie, of Olathe, Kan., Michele Greiman and husband, Stan, of Garner, Brenda Lemke of Houston, Texas, Linda Lindsay and husband, Jay, of Rock Falls, Steven Lemke and wife, Jeannie, of Mason City, William D. Lemke and wife, Sien, of Valhalla, N.Y., Bryant Lemke of Minneapolis, Minn., and Bernard Lemke of Charlotte, N.C.
Lorraine was preceded in death by her husband, her parents; two sisters and their husbands, Helen (Ralph) Sellner and Ethel (Arnold) Volkman; and three sisters-in-law, Lavonne Lorenson Lemke, Lou Rabun Lemke, and Marjorie Meinders Lemke.

THORNTON — Hans Jacobsen, 88, of Clear Lake, formerly of Thornton, died Tuesday (Dec. 5, 2006) at Oakwood Care Center in Clear Lake.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at the First United Methodist Church in Thornton with Pastor Rose Calderon-Khan officiating. Interment with veteran’s honors by Anton Juhl Post 244 American Legion will be at Pleasant View Cemetery in Thornton.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the Retz-Grarup Funeral Home in Thornton.
Hans Peter Jacobsen was born Oct. 11, 1918, in Thornton to Emil and Johannah (Smith) Jacobsen. He attended Thornton school and graduated in 1936. He worked at Sondergard Produce Co. until he entered the service in 1942. He served in the Army Air Corps in the European Theater as a staff sergeant and was honorably discharged in December 1945.
On Jan. 20, 1946, Hans was united in marriage with Velma Marie Luick in Mason City. To this union was born a son, Don, and two daughters, Sue Meints and Jan Gobeli.
Hans worked for 34 years at Farmers Co-op in Thornton. He retired in 1981 and continued to live in Thornton. Prior to moving to the care center in Clear Lake he had the distinction of living more years in Thornton than any other resident.
Hans was a member of the United Methodist Church, American Legion and Pleasant Valley Golf Club. He also served two terms on the Thornton City Council.
He loved to garden, travel, play golf and watch his favorite birds – ‘The Martins.’
He is survived by his children, Sue (Kirby) Meints, Fort Worth, Texas, Don (Donna) Jacobsen, Garner, Iowa, Jan (Steven) Gobeli, Cincinnati, Ohio; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brothers and sister, Irving (Luella) Jacobsen, Honolulu, Hawaii, Alvin Jacobsen, Torance, Calif., and Florine Peters, Thornton; and nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Velma; brother, Carl; and sister, Elinor Lauritzen.

Robert ‘Bob’ Charles Kennedy
FERTILE — Robert “Bob” Charles Kennedy, 71, of Fertile, joined Our Heavenly Father on Wednesday (Dec. 6, 2006) at the Muse-Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City after a lengthy illness in Mercy Hospital.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 9, at the Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 N. Fourth St. in Clear Lake, with the Rev. Nimrod Anderson from Wisconsin Rapids, Wis., officiating. Burial will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery, Highway 122 W. Mason City.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 8, at Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel.
Memorials may be given to Muse-Norris Hospice Unit in Mason City.
Robert Charles Kennedy was born Aug. 10, 1935, in Mason City, Iowa, to Charles and Esther (Weitzel) Kennedy. He graduated from Mason City High School in 1953.
On Feb. 9, 1952, Bob was united in marriage to Mary Ann Elizabeth Bentele at Central Heights Community Church in Mason City. Bob and Mary Ann moved their family to a farm near Fertile and have lived there for 43 years, raising two sons and three daughters. These children have given them seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Bob worked driving a gas truck in Mason City. Then while in Fertile, he worked for Winnebago Industries for 26 years before retiring in 1995.
He also drove a school bus for the Forest City Schools for several years. His passion was farming, which he did from 1963 until retiring in 2003. He was a member of the Moose Lodge in Mason City.
After retiring, Bob and Mary Ann enjoyed traveling in their fifth-wheel trailer and spending the winters in Texas.
Bob is survived by his wife, Mary Ann, of Fertile; three daughters, Bobbi Ann (Don) Elbert of Ventura and their son, Kyle, Kim (David) Brue, of Forest City and their daughters, Jennifer and Kelsey, and Kathy Wise and special friend, David Johnson, and her children, Amber Wise and son, Justice, and Cory Wise and wife, Liann. He also has two sons, Danny Kennedy of Plymouth and special friend, Patti Lauritson, and Chuck Kennedy and his wife, Susan (Johnson), and son, Troy Johnson.
He is also survived by his mother, Esther (Kennedy) Mulhern of the Oakwood Care Center in Clear Lake; sister, Arlene Kafer, of Sheffield, and a sister, Mary Whitnable, of Bussey; along with numerous nieces, nephews and many friends.
Bob was preceded in death by his father, Charles Raymond Kennedy; a brother, Clarence Kennedy; and two sisters, Linda Peterson and Violet McCloud.

CLEAR LAKE — Frances Mae Brown Reed, 74, of Clear Lake, died Monday (Nov. 27, 2006) at Little Elm, Texas.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 9, at Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 N. Fourth St. in Clear Lake, with Lay Assistant Richard Scott officiating. Inurnment will be at a later date in Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Omaha, Neb.
Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until time of service on Saturday.

Frances was born July 30, 1932, in Colerain, N.C., the daughter of Obed Lee and Pauline (Sutton) Brown. She married Robert Reed June 11, 1950, in Edenton, N.C. They moved to Omaha where she worked for Mutual of Omaha. They lived in Omaha, Neb., Honey Creek, Iowa, and moved to Clear Lake in 2000. Frances was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post No. 2503 and a member of Zion Lutheran Church.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Linda Kennedy and her husband, Gene, Omaha, Neb., and Charles Reed and his wife, Margaret, of Little Elm, Texas; three grandchildren, Jessica Reed of Little Elm, Texas, Jennifer Reed (Steven Owen) of Waxachchie, Texas, and Joseph Reed of Little Elm, Texas; one great-granddaughter, Hanna Frances Reed of Little Elm, Texas; two sisters, Christine Woehr of Waynesboro, Va., and Mary Michelman (Gary Frerichs), Clear Lake; two brothers, Lee Brown and his wife, Karen, of Baltimore, Md., and John Brown and his wife, Charlene, of New Freedom, Pa.; and several nieces and nephews.

Lois Elaine Schwartz was born July 12, 1932, the daughter of Walter and Irene (King) Leslie at Bancroft. She graduated from High School in Lakota. On April 15, 1951, she was united in marriage to Edwin Schwartz at the Methodist Church in Lakota.
Lois was employed at Sovay Animal Health as a veterinarian technician until retirement in 1993. She was a member of Immanuel United Church of Christ and the Women’s Fellowship.
Her interests included camping, traveling, playing bingo and especially spending time with her friends and family.
Living family members include her husband, Edwin Schwartz, of Charles City; two children, Jim (Cindy) Schwartz of Woodland, Mich., and Janice (Chuck) Johnson of Clear Lake; five grandchildren, Tad (Sherrie) Schwartz of Charlotte, Mich., Tara (Ben) Black of Laingsburg, Mich., Nathan (Samantha) Schwartz of Charlotte, Mich., Katrina (Josh) Hart of Aurora, Colo., and Brandon Johnson and special friend, Sarah, of Mason City; two great-grandsons, Thomas and Braedyn Johnson; three step granddaughters, Joheather, Leslie and Jessie Grant, all of Woodland, Mich.; three brothers-in-law, Fred (Rose) Schwartz of Morganton, Ga., William Coombs of Fairmont, Minn., and Loran Clayton of Armstrong; four sisters-in-law, Erna Doocy of Owatonna, Minn., Lillian (Irvin) Smith of Armstrong, Evelyn (Don) Johnson and Betty (Jim) Smith all of Swea City; and many nieces and nephews.

Irma was born Aug. 2, 1919 on the family farm near Sheffield, the daughter of Henry and Lena (Koester) Boehlje. She attended a school near the farm for eight years and graduated from Sheffield High School in 1937, where she was active in music and completed normal school training.
Upon graduation, Irma taught at a rural school north of Sheffield for three years. Her education continued in later years at Wheaton College and Iowa State Teachers College, UNI, which led her to a teaching position in Zearing, Iowa.
On Dec. 25, 1943, Irma married W. Wendell Schaefer, also of Sheffield, in Monterey, California. Following the war, Irma and Wendell taught in several Iowa schools and served as volunteer church musicians. Irma often additionally taught music lessons in her home. In Mason City, Irma worked as a teacher’s aide at Hoover School. Later she worked as a staff musician for the Mason City High School Music Department as an accompanist.
Before her retirement, Irma served as organist and accompanist at Faith Baptist Church, worked as a music teacher in her home and performed as piano soloist for the Noon Rotary Club for many years. Irma retired from these positions less than six months ago.
Irma is survived by her husband, W. Wendell, of Mason City; sons and daughters-in-law, Phil and Carol of Liberty, Mo., Paul and Barbara, of Lincoln, Neb., Lee and Jill of Latimer; grandchildren, Joya Schaefer Edmonds and husband, Brian of Kansas City, Missouri, Anthony of Minneapolis, Minn., Elizabeth and Jonathan of Lincoln, Neb., Diedre and Shelby of Latimer; sister, Eunice Schoepf of Sheffield.

FOREST CITY — Cecil Mitchell, 73, of Forest City, died Tuesday (Dec. 5, 2006) at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City.
Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 9, at the United Methodist Church in Forest City with Pastor Jerald Swanberg and Pastor Steve Hansen officiating. Burial will be at Madison Township Cemetery in Forest City.

Cecil Dewane Mitchell was born on June 17, 1933, at home in Forest City, to Milo Merle and Daisy R. (Wilson) Mitchell. He attended school in Forest City and graduated from Forest City High School in 1952. He continued his education by attending Waldorf College, graduating in 1954.
In 1957 he moved to Ajo, Ariz., where he worked as a minor league umpire and at a grocery store for a mining company. He returned to Forest City in 1959 and for several years did carpentry work in the area. He helped build the cement silos at the Forest City Co-op Elevator.
In 1962 he began working at Aljo Trailer Plant in Forest City. He continued there after it became Winnebago Industries, installing windshields in the north plant and later running the big saws at the sawmill. Cecil retired in March of 1996.
On Aug. 1, 1965, Cecil was united in marriage to Karen Alne at Bethel Lutheran Brethren Church in rural Joice, Iowa. The couple made their home in Forest City and raised two children: daughter, Tina Marie, and son, Douglas Dewane.
Cecil enjoyed doing his woodcrafts, visiting with friends and playing “Uno.” He especially enjoyed taking his children and grandchildren fishing.
Cecil entered the Good Samaritan Center in Forest City on March 9, 2003. While there, he enjoyed playing on the computer, visiting with and picking on his friends and nursing staff.
Cecil is survived by his wife of 41 years, Karen Mitchell of Forest City; and his children and their spouses: daughter, Tina (Scott) Mahon, of North Richland Hills, Texas, and their children Levi, Cody, Tyler, Sydni and Syrinna; and son Douglas (Dawn) Mitchell of Mason City, Iowa, and their children Brittany, Sierra and Colton. Other survivors include a sister, Jeanette (Doyce) Michelson, of Mt. Pleasant; sister-in-law, Marlys (Earl) Hill, of Britt; two brothers-in-law, Dan Alne, of Mason City, and John (Sandy) Alne, of Rockwell City; mother-in-law, Lillian Alne, of Mason City; many nieces and nephews; and great-nieces and great-nephews.

Mabel was born on Jan. 17, 1915, at Grafton, Iowa, one of nine children to Albert F. and Kathrina E. (Claus) Trettin. She was baptized at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Grafton and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Rockford.
She was a graduate of the Rockford High School in 1934 and then the Iowa Beauty College in Des Moines. She then opened a salon with her sister, Ella, in Kanawha. During the war years she lived in California, worked and graduated from Capitol City Commercial College.
She returned to Iowa when her father died in 1943. About a year later she became engaged as a hairdresser and cosmetologist, owning her own successful business called Elm Crest Hair Fashions for 30 years, until retiring in 1985. Her business was located in Chicago and Evanston, Ill. Following her retirement she moved, in November 1994, to Mason City to be closer to her family.
Mabel was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, a past president of the Chicago Cosmetologist Association, an officer of the Iowa State Cosmetologist Association and Women’s Club of Mason City.
Mabel traveled extensively all over the world visiting many countries that included the Holy Land, Africa and China. She also collected many treasures and memorabilia from the countries she visited.
She also enjoyed bowling and nurturing her African violets. She made every effort to be home in Rockford for major holidays and dearly loved and cherished all of her nieces and nephews and made each of them feel special.
Mabel is survived by two sisters, Ella Schutt, Mason City, and Shirley Fullerton, Rockford; three brothers, Edwin and his wife, Margaret, Trettin, Harold and his wife, Frances, Trettin, and George and his wife, Arlene, Trettin, all of Rockford; and many, many, nieces and nephews.
Her parents; two brothers, Walter Trettin, who died in the service, and Wesley Trettin; one sister, Marie Weigand; her cousin, who lived with them and she thought of as a brother, Orland Graper, preceded her in death.

Gerald was born April 8, 1924, in Garner, Iowa, the son of Leo Francis and Rose (Roach) Schmidt. He graduated from Garner High School in 1941.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Following the service, he moved back to Garner. He married Rosella Koehler on July 3, 1947, and enjoyed 46 years with her.
Gerald attended Hamilton Business College, Mason City. He went to work for Mason City Millworks as a bookkeeper and later into sales where he became very successful and where he acquired numerous friends and business associates. He retired from Millworks after working for them for more than 40 years in 1990. Through the years he was known for his sense of humor and honesty.
He enjoyed playing cards, bingo, golfing, bowling, volunteering for different organizations, and above all, his caring and generosity for his friends and family.
He is survived by his five children, Patricia Weiler and her husband, Wayne, Aurora, Ill., Linda Weiler of Phoenix, Ariz., Melody Walker and her husband, Dan, of Rochester, Minn., and Steve Schmidt and Jeff Schmidt, both of Mason City, Iowa; 18 grandchildren, Adam Weiler, Laura Weiler, Joe Weiler, Ben Weiler, Rachel Ossmo, Jake Weiler, Jesse Weiler, Annie Weiler, Abby Weiler, Amanda Weiler, Alexis Weiler, John Walker, Emily Walker, Ryan Schmidt, Cara Fernandez, Samantha Schmidt, Stephanie Schmidt and Gabrielle Schmidt; four great-grandchildren, Alexis Gasca, Christian Gasca, Elena Fernandez and Katilynn Stopski; and two brothers, Roland Schmidt and his wife, Lucille, and Darl Schmidt and his wife, Darlene, both of Garner, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews.

Jacob was born on Jan. 9, 1998, in Westminster, Md., to Harry and Robin (Bendtsen) Koenigs.
He moved to Chester, N.Y., with his family in September 2000. In May 2002, the family moved to Crystal Lake, Ill. While living in Illinois on Feb. 1, 2003, Jake was diagnosed with a rare form of pediatric cancer called rabdomyosarcoma. His first round of treatment took place at Children’s Memorial Hospital in Chicago, Ill. He was one year off treatment when his father accepted a transfer back to New York. It was in March 2005, during the transition back to New York, that Jacob had experienced a recurrence of the disease. Jacob met his new medical team at New York Presbyterian Hospital in Manhattan, N.Y. He was treated there until he passed away on Dec. 5, 2006.
Jake was a member of St. John’s Church Youth Group and an honorary member of the Goshen GOVAC’s (paramedics and first responders) both of Goshen, N.Y.
Jake loved to swim, fish, collect Hot Wheels and play video games. His long term goal was to become a race car driver. Although his life was short, he made a tremendous impact on the many people he met along his journey by his attitude, compassion for others, determination, humor and happiness in the face of great obstacles.
Jake will be sorely missed by his sister, Emily Koenigs, (11); his parents, Robin and Harry Koenigs, of Campbell Hall, N.Y.; his maternal grandparents, Gary and Barbara Bendtsen, of Elkton, Minn.; his paternal grandparents, Deo and Joan Koenigs, of St. Ansgar, Iowa; and many uncles, aunts and cousins.

Royden Carlyle Colby was born Jan. 25, 1917, in Lake Mills, to parents Stanley and Marie (Thompson) Colby. He attended and graduated from Lake Mills High School and went on to attend Waldorf College in Forest City, Iowa.
Royden was united in marriage with Florence Johnson and to this union three children were born, Diane, Dennis and Richard. Following Florence’s death, he wed Elsie Johnson. Royden was later married to Eva Ausen. On Sept. 3, 1994, Royden was united in marriage with Elizabeth “Betty” Halvorson. The couple has made their home in Lake Mills for the past 12 years.
In his earlier years, Royden was employed by the Internal Revenue Service based in Baltimore, Md., and later Lawrenceburg, Ind. He also worked for a bank in Mason City for some time before finally returning to North Iowa to farm. Royden was a member of Salem Lutheran Church in Lake Mills. He was an active member of the Joice Senior Citizens Club.

Lawrence Anthony Grandgenett
WESLEY — Lawrence Anthony “Larry” Grandgenett was the first child born to Anthony John and Martha (Cink) Grandgenett on April 30, 1930, at St. Benedict, Iowa.
He graduated from the LuVerne High School in LuVerne in 1948. After his schooling, Larry served his country in the U.S. Army in the Korean War. After the service, Larry was married to Joan Goetz on June 22, 1954, at the St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Wesley, Iowa. The couple lived north of Wesley and farmed for two years. They moved into Wesley and Larry worked for Robinson Produce for the next few years and was later employed at the Farmer’s Co-op Elevator in Wesley. He worked there until his retirement in 1992.
Larry was a member of the St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Wesley. He was also an active member of the Andrews American Legion Post No. 428 in Wesley for over 50 years. Larry was also active in the Veteran’s Affairs Administration.
He enjoyed yardwork, gardening, fishing and playing cards. He also enjoyed his work with the American Legion and traveling to see family and friends. Larry’s greatest joy, however, was his family and he loved watching his grandchildren participate in all of their activities.
Larry died on Saturday, Dec. 9, 2006, at the Hancock County Memorial Hospital in Britt, Iowa, after a battle with cancer. He was 76.
Larry is survived by his wife, Joan, of Wesley; and his children, Dan Grandgenett and wife, Judy, of Corwith, and their children, Joe and Amy; Ron Grandgenett and friend, Holly, of Orlando, Fla.; Tom Grandgenett and wife, Caren, Merriam, Kan., and their children, Sarah and Luke; Alan Grandgenett of Colon, Neb., and his children, Abbey, Ben and Samantha; Marla Reding and husband, Jerry, Wesley, and their children Kayla, Cindy and David; and Diane Suntken and husband, Bruce, Kearney, Neb., and their children, Mikki and Tim. Also surviving are five brothers and sisters, Leroy Grandgenett and wife, Marilyn, Algona, Paul Grandgenett and wife, Evelyn, Wesley, Carol Barlow, Mason City, Mary Lou Crawford and husband, Ralph, St. Petersburg, Fla., Jim Grandgenett and wife, Joyce, Algona, and two sisters-in-law: Shirley Grandgenett, Plymouth, and Donna Grandgenett, Algona, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Harold and Dick; his sister and brother-in-law, Adeane and Cletus Hejlik; his daughter-in-law, Lori Grandgenett; and his brother-in-law, Jerry Barlow.
Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today at the Garry-Roberts-Murphy-Schaaf Funeral Home in Wesley with a prayer service at 7:45 p.m.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Wesley with Father Randy Schon officiating. Burial with military honors will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Wesley.

MASON CITY — Clarence Francis Tass, 92, of Mason City, died Friday (Dec. 8, 2006) at the Good Shepherd Health Center in Mason City.

Eric Wayne Watts
CLARION — Eric Wayne Watts, age 15, of Clarion, passed away Friday, (Dec. 8, 2006) as the result of a car accident.
Services will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 12, at the Clarion-Goldfield High School in Clarion with Pastors Gary Boen and Curt Miner officiating. Interment will be held at the Evergreen Cemetery in Clarion, Iowa.
Visitation will be held Monday, Dec. 11, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Ewing Dugger Helgeson Funeral Home, 602 N. Main St. in Clarion, and continue one hour prior to the service at the school.
Eric Wayne Watts, son of Wayne and Lanette (Jergenson) Watts, was born on Jan. 10, 1991, in Clarion. He was raised and educated in Clarion attending Clarion-Goldfield High School.
Eric enjoyed farming, driving the machinery, 4-wheelers, dirt bikes and working with the various motors. He loved the county and state fairs where he showed pigs. When he was hanging with his friends they had fun listening to music and eating. One of his favorite pastimes was playing the drums and guitar.
Eric was a member of the First Lutheran Church, 4-H, FFA, FCA, band, Jazz Band, wrestling and football.
Those left to cherish his memory are his parents, Wayne and Lanette; three sisters, Ashley, Olivia and Alayna; grandparents, Leroy and Juanita Watts and Jeanie Olson, all of Clarion; great-grandmothers, Elva Weir and Audrey Olson, both of Clarion; aunts and uncles, Delnita Sturtz and her husband, Doug, of Des Moines, Lynnda Purcell and her husband, Tim, of Clarion, Renee Bisbey and her husband, Brian, of Wisconsin, Peggy Watts of Ames, Les Watts of Des Moines, Steve Jergenson and his wife, Juanita, of Clear Lake, Jeff Jergenson of Clear Lake, Wendy Conley and her husband, Leland, of Webster City, Linda Schmitt and her husband, Steve, of Snohomish, Wash.; many cousins and friends.
Preceding Eric in death were his grandfathers, Ron Jergenson and Phil Olson; great-grandparents, W.L. and Blanche Watts, Frank Weir, Lola Fortner and Helen Jergenson.
