ROBERT E. DONNELLY

DES MOINES — Robert E. Donnelly, 68, died Wednesday (Oct. 15, 2003) at Mercy Hospital Medical Center in Des Moines.

A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the St. Augustin Catholic Church in Des Moines.

Visitation will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Friday at Dunn’s Funeral Home, 2121 Grand Ave. in Des Moines, with a vigil service at 7:30 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be directed to Animal Rescue League, 5452 N.E. 22nd St., Des Moines, IA 50313.

Robert was born the son of Leo and Bernadine (Kelsh) Donnelly in Rockwell, Iowa on Jan. 24, 1935. He was a Navy veteran and worked as an inspector for the railroad with the Western Weighing and Inspection Bureau for 20 years before retiring.

He lived in Des Moines from 1966 to 1984 when he moved to Phoenix until 1996 when he moved back to Des Moines.

He was a loving and caring husband and father who enjoyed spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife, Katherine “Kay”; sons, Tom (Amy) of Des Moines, Denny (Janet) of Des Moines, Mike (Kathi) of Phoenix, and John (Erla) of Des Moines; grandchildren, Kathleen, Frances, Robert, Luke and Molly; brothers, Richard (Donna) of Milwaukee and Patrick (Rose) of Cedar Rapids; sisters, Jane (Robert) Buck and Judy Kleven of Bloomington, Minn.; a special cousin, Maurice McGuire of Mason City, and his faithful canine companion, Autumn.

KENSETT — Curtis E. Hogbin, 57, of Indianapolis, Ind., formerly of Kensett, died Wednesday (Oct. 8, 2003) at his son’s home.

Memorial services will be held at 4 p.m. Friday at the Elk Creek Lutheran Church in Kensett, with the Rev. Tim Nappe officiating.

Curtis was born on May 5, 1946, in Mason City, a son of Norbert O. and Leora K. (Hodson) Hogbin.

He was raised in rural Kensett and was a graduate of Northwood High School.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.

He was an accountant for CMW, Inc. for 34 years.

He was a big fan of the Indianapolis Colts, the Indiana University basketball team and a NASCAR racing fan.

He is survived by his children, Michelle (Kevin) Sharrett, Denice Mefford, Bill (Katrina) Hogbin, all of Indianapolis, Ind.; brother, Daryl Hogbin, of St. Louis, Mo.; and sister, Diane Hammond, of Polk City; five grandchildren, Chris, Megan and Morgan Sharrett, and Brittany and Brandon Mefford.

Curtis was preceded in death by his parents.

CHARLES CITY — Robert “Bob” Micich, 83, formerly of 3065 170th St. Charles City, died Tuesday (Oct. 14, 2003) at Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa in Mason City.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Fullerton-Hage Funeral Home, 401 Blunt St., Charles City. Interment will be at Riverside Cemetery in Charles City. Military rites will be accorded by the Charles City Ceremonial Unit.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the Fullerton-Hage Funeral Home, and will continue one hour prior to services Saturday at the funeral home.

ELINOR G. FELKER MOSIMAN


MASON CITY — Elinor G. Felker Mosiman, 85, of Mason City, died Tuesday, (Oct. 14, 2003) at Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa.

Funeral Services for Elinor will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave., with the Rev. Tom Healey, Chaplain, Hospice of North Iowa, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Mason City.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Major Erickson Funeral Home.

Memorials may be given to the Elinor G. Felker Mosiman Memorial Fund.

Elinor was born Sept. 9, 1918, in Manly, the daughter of Jack and Nora Nicewarner. She attended school in Manly.

She was married to Elmer Felker in Minnesota on June 20, 1938. Elinor worked for the Grupp Grocery Store for several years.

After her husband’s retirement they spent many winters in Arizona as well as doing other traveling. They enjoyed dancing and she was an avid bingo player and enjoyed bus trips to the casino and playing cards. Elmer died July 29, 1993.

She was married to Archie Mosiman on Jan. 12, 1997, in Las Vegas.

She is survived by her husband, Archie Mosiman, of Mason City; daughter, Ardis Felker, of Clear Lake; son, Roger Felker, of Clear Lake; stepchildren, Geneva Kitner and husband, Marvin, of Mason City, Pat Vician and husband, Dennis, of Emmetsburg, Kathy Falstick, of Arlington, Minn.; numerous step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; brother, Russell Nicewarner and wife, Frieda, of Coon Rapids, Minn.; sister-in-law, Florence Felker, of Garner; numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded by her parents, husband, Elmer; brothers, Earl and Harold Nicewarner.

RICHARD HIPOLYTE WAYCHUS


MASON CITY — Richard Hipolyte Waychus, 64, of Marshalltown, formerly of Mason City, died Tuesday (Oct. 14, 2003) at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Des Moines.

A funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 302 Fifth St. S.E. Mason City, with the Rev. Harry Koelker officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Highway 122, Mason City.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Hogan-Bremer-Moore Colonial Chapel, 126 Third St. N.E., with a Scriptural wake service at 6 p.m.

Richard Hipolyte Waychus was born on March 31, 1939, in Mason City, the son of Hipolyte and Winifred (Young) Waychus. He attended and received his education in the Mason City school system, graduating from Mason City High School.

After graduating from high school he attended and graduated from Mercy Hospital in the school of nursing program and was one of the first males to graduate from the program.

After completing his schooling he worked as a nurse in various hospitals which include Columbia, Mo. Broadlawns Hospital in Des Moines and the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn.

He was inducted in the U.S. Army and was assigned to the medical corps field. After his honorable discharge he moved back to Mason City and was a nurse at Mercy Hospital in Mason City in the pediatric and psychiatric unit, and was a nurse at Mercy Hospital for over 20 years, retiring due to ill health. Richard had been a resident at the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown.

He enjoyed cooking, flowers, and classical music and when in high school was in theater productions.

He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, sang in the parish choir, and was involved in other activities within the church, and was a member of the Third Dominican in Dubuque.

Left to cherish his memory is a brother, Dennis Waychus and his wife, Kathy, of Mason City; three nieces, Denise Harrison and her husband, Jay, of Chicago, Ill., Debra Heckman of Humboldt, and Emily “Billie” II Waychus of Minneapolis, Minn.; two step-nephews, Monty Miller of Hampton, and Nathan Miller and his wife, Aimee, of Dows; eight great-nieces and nephews, Katie and Michael Harrison of Chicago, Ill., Nicholas and Kristen Heckman of Humboldt, and Elizabeth, Matthew, Warren and William Miller all of Dows; as well as other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

MARGARET PETERSON

RUDD — Margaret Peterson, 70, of 617 Floyd St., Rudd, died Thursday (Oct. 16, 2003) at Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City.

Graveside services for Margaret Peterson will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the West Union Cemetery in West Union.

Margaret Ann Schroyer Peterson was born April 26, 1933, at West Union, the daughter of Otto and Victoria (Stahl) Schroyer. She received her education at the West Union school.

On Aug. 11, 1951, she was united in marriage to Earl Peterson. In 1971 they moved to Rudd where they owned and operated the Friendly Inn until 1976.

Margaret then worked at Winnebago Industries and Minnesota Rubber, retiring in 1995.

She enjoyed going to auctions and took special interest in watching movies and keeping complete records of movie stars.

Her family meant a great deal to Margaret and she took great pleasure in all of the family outings.

Living family members in-clude three children, Joie Peterson of Nora Springs, Cheryl (Steve) Schuster of Rudd, and Justin (Lori) Peterson of Rudd; four grandchildren, Jason and Mindy Schuster, and Stephanie and Thomas Peterson; two stepgrandchildren, Ryan and Rachel Evans; several great-grandchildren; three brothers, Robert Schroyer of Virginia, Gerald (Artalee) Schroyer of Harold, S.D., and Richard (Mary) Schroyer of West Union; a sister, Nelle Marie Taylor of Arlington; two sisters-in-law, Lillian Hansel and Linda Dodson, both of West Union; and a brother-in-law, Elwin Peterson of West Union.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband on June 8, 2000; two sons, Leslie Earl and Thomas L. Peterson; a brother, George Schroyer; and her stepmother, Joyce Schroyer.

TED TRAINER


CHARLES CITY — Ted Trainer, 61, a resident of 1826 Cedar View Drive, Charles City, died Wednesday (Oct. 15, 2003) at Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa in Mason City from complications of a brain stem tumor.

Funeral services for Ted Trainer will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Dennis Niezwaag, pastor of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church and Pastor Paul Phillips of the Gospel Lighthouse officiating. Burial will be in Sunnyside Memory Gardens rural Charles City. The Charles City Ceremonial Unit will conduct military honors.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the Hauser Funeral Home, 1205 S. Main St. in Charles City, and an hour prior to the services Saturday at the church.

Teddy Norman Trainer was born Nov. 28, 1941, at Charles City, the son of Charles and Irma (Bucknell) Trainer. He attended Charles City High School.

Ted served in the United States Army from 1959 to 1963 where he received distinguished service awards for East German border patrol, marksmanship and as a tank driver.

On Oct. 3, 1964, he was united in marriage to Patricia Ready. Ted touched many people in his life. He started work at the Ellendale Dairy, which was family owned, and Kirsch Body Shop.

He worked 17 years at White Farm where he was a machinist and supervisor. In 1987, Diversified Manufactur-ing was established where Ted worked as shop supervisor until his retirement on Oct. 1, 2003.

Ted’s sharp wit, exception-al wisdom and candor will be missed by all that knew him. He was an avid sportsman which was displayed through his love of auto racing, fishing, hunting, and snowmobiling. Ted’s abilities with his hands were one of a kind.

He was blessed with the talents to fix anything. However, Ted’s favorite pastime was spending time with his family and friends. He was a devoted and extremely faithful husband, dad, and grandpa.

Ted was an active member in his church and knew Jesus as his savior. We are comforted knowing that Ted is now walking with the Lord!

Those left to cherish the memory of his unconditional love are his wife, Pat, of Charles City; three children, Tony (Cheryl) Trainer of Monticello, Minn., Tim (Samantha) of Mason City, and Tracy (Jason) Thurm of Humboldt; six grandsons, Samuel, Isaac, Gabriel, Jacob, Joseph, and Vincent; his mother, Irma Kay, of Manchester; three brothers, Dick Trainer of Austin, Texas, Don (Nancy) Trainer of Manchester, and Tom (Janet) Trainer of Charles City; a half sister, Valerie Trainer of Charles City; two half brothers, John and Joe Trainer; and many special aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

ST. ANSGAR — Anna M. Rosenberg, 95, of St. Ansgar, died Wednesday (Oct. 15, 2003) at the Good Samaritan Center in St. Ansgar.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in St. Ansgar with the Rev. Byron Northwick officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Rest Cemetery, Northwood, Iowa.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Schroeder & Sites Funeral Home, 207 S. School St. in St. Ansgar.

Anna M. Rosenberg was born March 25, 1908, to John P. and Sina (Rasmussen) White. She was baptized and confirmed on April 13, 1924, at Immanuel Lutheran Church by the Rev. C. Landdeck. She attended country school west of Grafton.

She graduated from high school in Grafton, Iowa, on May 20, 1926.

She married George Rosenberg on May 1, 1927. Two sons were born to this union, Raymond and Russell.

They farmed for many years on the Rosenberg home farm southwest of St. Ansgar.

After retiring from farming in 1955, they purchased a home in St. Ansgar. Anna then went to work at the Good Samaritan Center.

Among many other duties, she operated Anna’s Cafe. She owned rug looms and wove many, many rugs for family and friends.

She did volunteer work at many churches and also the Good Samaritan Center. Anna had six sisters and brothers.

Anna was preceded in death by husband, George; son, Raymond Sr.; and one grandson, Raymond Jr. ; brothers, Vern, Art, and John Jr. ; three sisters, Mabel Paulsen, Nora Bruesewitz and Clara Kuehn.

She is survived by one son, Russell G. Sr. of St. Ansgar; 11 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; 25 great-great-grandchildren.

NORMAN P. LARSON

CLEAR LAKE — Norman P. Larson, 84, of 1511 W. Sixth Ave. N. died Thursday (Oct. 16, 2003) at the Oakwood Care Center in Clear Lake.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Zion Lutheran Church, 112 N. Fourth St. in Clear Lake, with the Rev. Derik Yarian officiating. Inurnment will be at the Clear Lake Cemetery with military honors by the Clear Lake VFW.

Visitation will be one hour prior to services on Tuesday at the church.

Memorials may be made to the Norman P. Larson Memorial Fund.

Norman was born the son of Lauritz & Anna (Storre) Larson in rural Joice, Iowa. He graduated from Joice High School in 1936, and farmed with his parents until serving in the Army Air Corp. during World War II.

After his discharge from the service he returned to farming. Norman married Marilyn H. Bolstad on Oct. 14, 1951, at Webster City, and they continued to farm until they moved to Lake Mills where he worked for Kingland Motors.

He moved to Clear Lake and worked for Winnebago Industries as coordinator of employees suggestion program until his retirement in the ’80s.

Norman enjoyed listening to Big Band music, dancing, and was an avid Twins fan as well as enjoying all sports.

Norman was Toastmaster of the year in 1974 at Winne-bago and a member of Shibboleth in Mason City.

He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and sang in the choir. He was a gentle man and a gentleman.

Norman is survived by his wife, Marilyn H. Larson of Clear Lake; brother, Wallace Larson and his wife, Beverly, of Forest City; sister, Maynis Aamodt and her husband, Carroll, of Northwood; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Larson of Mason City, Ruth Flugum of Forest City, Alvira Thompson of Mondovi, Wis., and Esther Bolstad of Lake Mills; brother-in-law, Carroll Bolstad of Newhall, Calif.; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, LeRoy Larson and Royden Larson; one sister, Ivanell McKissik; and brother-in-law Russell Bolstad.

MASON CITY — Betty L. Fjone, 68, of Mason City died Thursday (Oct. 16, 2003) at her home.

Following a private memorial service, friends and family are invited to gather at her home at 2 p.m. Sunday at 95 Sunny Circle.

Betty was born Oct. 13, 1935, in Mason City, the daughter of Gilbert and Lucretia (Gilman) Fjone. She graduated from Clear Lake High School in 1953.

In 1960 she moved to West Palm Beach, Fla. She worked as a bookkeeper for 13 years for the Good Samaritan Hospital in Palm Beach.

She then worked for 10 years as bookkeeper for the Palm Beach County School Board.

Betty moved to New Haven, Ind., in 1999 and moved to Mason City in 2001.

Betty taught Sunday School, did job training — clerical work, bookkeeping, accounting, logistics, enjoyed water sking, ocean fishing, boating, card playing and was a wonderful homemaker.

She is survived by daughters, Dawn Olinger of Independence, Kan., and Dixie Olinger of Mason City; sister, Jean Ellis of New Haven, Ind.; brother, John Fjone and wife, Marjorie, of Thornton; sister, Patricia Williams of Olympia, Wash.; three granddaughters; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

BEULAH M. (MYRE) THOMPSON


CLEAR LAKE — Beulah M. (Myre) Thompson, 84, of Clear Lake died Thursday (Oct. 16, 2003) at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City.

Funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Forest City with the Rev. Lee Laaveg officiating. Burial will be at West Prairie Cemetery in rural Thompson.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Petersen Lund Funeral Home, 505 N. Clark St. in Forest City.

Beulah M. (Myre) Thompson was born on the Myre farm west of Forest City, Iowa, on June 23, 1919, the daughter of Clarence J. D. and Mildred (Hagenson) Myre. She was baptized at the Synod Lutheran Church west of Thompson.

She was married to Newton Charles Thompson on Nov. 17, 1946. To this union three children were born: Pamela Kay, Charles Newton and Steven Ray.

Beulah was an active member of The Order of the Eastern Star.

She was a wonderful cook (especially her pies and cakes) and she enjoyed driving and traveling.

Beulah treasured time spent with her family and she loved to visit with her friends over coffee. She has made her home in Clear Lake since 1973.
