MASON CITY - Mary M. Gobeli, 80, of Mason City, died Wednesday (Feb. 19, 2003) at Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa.

Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. today at Clear Lake Cemetery in Clear Lake, with the Rev. David Wojek of the Seventh Day Adventist Church officiating.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. today at Hogan-Bremer-Moore Colonial Chapel, 126 Third St. N.E. in Mason City.

Memorials may be directed to the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Mason City.

MADRID - Neomi C. Heinen, 81, of Madrid, formerly of North Central Iowa, died Thursday (Feb. 20, 2003) at her home.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday at the Church of St. Malachy in Madrid. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Madrid.

Visitation will be held from 2 to 8 p.m. on Sunday at the Church of St. Malachy, with the family present from 5 to 8 p.m.

ALGONA - Ann V. Clark, 82, of Algona, died Wednesday (Feb. 19, 2003) at the Titonka Care Center in Titonka.

ALGONA - Marvin E. Leigh, 74, of Algona, died Wednesday (Feb. 19, 2003) at Trinity Regional Medical Center in Fort Dodge.

Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday at St. Cecelia Catholic Church in Algona, with the Rev. Paul Eisele officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Algona.

ROSE MULLENBACH

OSAGE - Rose Mullenbach, 89, of Osage, died Wednesday (Feb. 19, 2003) at the Stacyville Community Nursing Home in Stacyville.

Rose was born on Nov. 28, 1913, on the family farm near Stacyville, the daughter of Michael and Anna (Rauen) Heimerman. She married Clemens Mullenbach on Feb. 4, 1936, at the Visitation Catholic Church in Stacyville. They farmed in the Stacyville area. Clemens died in 1972, and following his death Rose moved to Osage.

Rose enjoyed gardening, baking and decorating cakes for weddings, birthdays, and anniversaries, etc.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday at Visitation Catholic Church in Stacyville with Father Mark Reasoner officiating. Interment will be in Visitation Catholic Cemetery in Stacyville.

Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. today at the Church in Stacyville with Rosary at 3:30 p.m., a Scripture service at 7 p.m. and continue one hour before services on Saturday.

She is survived by three brothers, Joseph Heimerman, of Evans, Colo., John Heimerman and his wife, Thresia, of Blooming Prairie, Minn., and Gilbert Heimerman and his wife, Shirley, of Austin, Minn.; two sisters, Stella Smith and her husband, Leo, of Stacyville, Dorothy Larson and her husband, Loris, of Austin, Minn.; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Clemens, in 1972; five brothers, Gregor, Paul, Francis, Sylvester, and Michael; one sister, Cecilia.

LESTER OTTO KREIMEYER

NORA SPRINGS - Lester Otto Kreimeyer, 62, of Nora Springs, formerly of Geneva, died Monday (Feb. 17, 2003) at his home.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. today at the United Methodist Church in Ackley, with the Rev. Patricia Connor officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Ackley, with military rites conducted by Elliott-Keninger Post No. 252 American Legion of Ackley.

Visitation was held on Thursday at Sietsema Funeral Home, 501 10th Ave. in Ackley.

Lester was born on Jan. 23, 1941 in rural Ackley, to Otto and Grace (Huisenga) Kreimeyer. He graduated from Geneva High School in 1959.

He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1960-1963.

He was united in marriage to Mary Ann Knipfel on Sept. 18, 1965 in St. Mary's Catholic Church in Ackley. They were later divorced.

He was engaged in farming and retired in 2003.

He is survived by a son, Leslie J. Kreimeyer, of Hampton; a daughter, Melissa Hinders and her husband, Ron, of Clarksville; five grandchildren, Megan, Amanda, Jessica, and Jacob Hinders, of Clarksville, and Logan Kreimeyer, of Hampton; two sisters, Marlys Kuehne and her husband, Richard, of Osage, and Betty Meyer and her husband, Lynn, of Marshalltown.

He enjoyed camping, managing the MacNider Campgrounds in Mason City, fishing, spending time with friends and family, especially his grandchildren, and playing cribbage with friends.

He was a member of Alcoholics Anonymous.

LOWELL H. MOORE

MASON CITY - Lowell H. Moore, 76, of 2014 N. Carolina Ave, died Wednesday (Feb. 19, 2003) at Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday at the Trinity Lutheran Church, 213 N. Pennsylvania Ave. in Mason City, with the Rev. Jim Magelssen officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Mason City, with Full Military Honors conducted by members of Mason City Veteran's Memorial Association.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. tonight at Hogan-Bremer-Moore Colonial Chapel, 126 Third St. N.E. in Mason City, and one hour prior to services on Saturday at the church.

Lowell Harvey Moore was born Dec. 23, 1926, on the family farm near Sheffield, a son of Ralph H. and Marvel A. (Bates) Moore. He married Helen J. Sable at St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Nora Springs, on Sept. 19, 1948.

Lowell attended rural school at Manly and was a 1944 graduate of Rock Falls High School in Rock Falls.

He served in the U.S. Army as a paratrooper during World War II. Lowell was a Mason City firefighter for several years. He owned and operated Northwood Sales Company in Northwood, a livestock sale barn.

Following his retirement from the Fire Department, he operated Short's Federal Fire Equipment Company in Mason City with his son, Steve.

Lowell's greatest love was his family. His hobbies were farming and raising livestock.

He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church; Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the American Legion.

Lowell is survived by his wife, Helen Moore, of Mason City; a son, Steven Moore and his wife, Shelley, of Mason City; their children, Shannon Janssen and her husband, Mike, of Mason City and Zachary Moore, of Des Moines; a son, Dave Moore and his wife, Jamey, of Mason City; and their children, Grace and Will Moore, of Mason City; a sister, Wanda Dillon and her husband, Meredith, of Mason City; two brothers, Duaine Moore and his wife, Marge, of Scottsdale, Ariz.; and Kenneth Moore and his wife, Carolyn, of Mason City; many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Lyle Moore.

MASON CITY - Noah John Kiley, infant son of John and Erika Kiley, died Wednesday (Feb. 19, 2003) at the University of Iowa Hospitals in Iowa City.

A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 302 Fifth St. S.E. in Mason City, with the Rev. Chris Podhajsky officiating. Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery.

ARNOLD L. SPANGENBERG

HAMPTON - Arnold L. Spangenberg, 79, of Hampton died on Friday (Feb. 21, 2003) at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Hampton, with the Rev. Karl Bollhagen officiating. Burial will be in the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in rural Hampton.

Visitation will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. on Sunday at the Sietsema-Vogel Funeral Home in Hampton.

Arnold was born on Oct. 13, 1923, in Hampton, a son of William and Alvena (Muhlenbruch) Spangenberg. He graduated from the Hampton Schools. He farmed his entire life.

He was united in marriage to Marie Ochoa on Aug. 28, 1948, in Mason City.

He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Hampton.

Arnold loved to dance on Saturday nights at the Surf Ballroom. He also loved farming, drawing cars, and studying history and genealogy.

He is survived by three sisters-in-law, Dorothy Spangenberg of Hampton, Evelyn Spangenberg of Hampton and Carmen Arispe of Mason City; two nephews, Marvin Spangenberg of Hampton and Douglas Arispe of Rochester, Minn.; three nieces, Donna Reynolds and her husband, Nick, of Hampton, Delores Stadtlander and her husband, Arvin, of Hampton, and Christina Nelson of Mason City; great-nieces and nephews, Tim, Corey, Kristine and Jason Reynolds, Marvin Spangenberg Jr., and Matthew Spangenberg, Anthony, and Ginger Stadtlander; daughter-in-law, Teresa Penning of Clear Lake; good friend, Sally Sadler and her husband, Mike, of Eagle Grove.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; his son, David; and two brothers, Roy Spangenberg and Wilbert Spangenberg.

CLEAR LAKE - Roy W. Scott, 86, of Clear Lake died Thursday (Feb. 20, 2003) at Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa in Mason City.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday at the United Methodist Church in Clear Lake, with the Rev. Jan Burnett, officiating. Interment will be in the Clear Lake Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday at the Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 N. Fourth St. in Clear Lake, and one hour before services on Monday at the church.

Roy was born Feb. 25, 1916 in Winnebago, Minn., the son of Walter and Lilly (Waldron) Scott.

Roy married Luceal D. Spilman on June 19, 1937, in Estherville. He farmed for more than 31 years, retiring in 1969.

Roy is survived by his four children: Jerry Scott and his wife, Zelda, of Clear Lake, Russell Scott and his wife, Joyce, of Mason City, Sharon Petersburg and her husband, Ray, of Loveland, Colo. and Jan Lansink and her husband, George, of Cedar Falls; 13 grandchildren, Terry Scott, Tami Cavett, Jason Scott, Joan Ziemke, Jane Bertram, Jennifer Davila, Jack Means, Shawn Petersburg, Kimberly Wolniak, Michelle Murray, Allison Bryson, Scott Gilroy and Tim Gilroy; 20 great-grandchildren; one sister, Beatrice Tracy, of Moose Lake, Minn.; along with many nieces and nephews and relatives and friends.

His parents; one brother; one sister; grandson, Jerry Scott Jr.; great-granddaughter, Kathryn; and his wife, Luceal; preceded Roy in death on Sept. 13, 2002.

IZETTA D. BUCHAN

MASON CITY - Izetta D. Buchan, 90, of 302 Second St. N.E., died early Friday morning (Feb. 21, 2003) at the Good Shepherd Health Center in Mason City, where she was a resident since October of 1996.

Graveside services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Monday at the Poland Township Cemetery in Marathon, Iowa.

The family will greet friends from 4 to 6 p.m. today at Fullerton Funeral Home, 123 Second St. S.E., Mason City.

Those wishing to extend memorials or expressions of sympathy may direct them to the Izetta D. Buchan Memorial Fund.

Izetta Dora Buchan was born April 16, 1912, in Marathon to Herman and Minnie (Ainley) Anderson. She was one of five children and was a lifelong resident in the Marathon and Spencer areas prior to relocating to Mason City in October of 1996 to be near relatives.

Izetta will be well-remembered for her many wonderful qualities. She took great pride in nurturing her family and enjoyed being included in their gatherings and activities. She was kind, considerate of others and consistently extended joy to others. She was a compassionate, helpful and gentle caregiver to all who knew her, especially with tenderness and regards to her sister, Geneva.

Izetta was a charming lady with a contagious smile. She maintained a strong confidence throughout her long life and tackled each day with grit and determination. Her family recalls that each time they left her presence, she stood at the doorway waving until they were out of sight. They treasure the memory of Izetta loving the color white; she not only wore the color well, but also seemed to exhibit the whitest wash in town! Her homemaking skills were highly organized and evident throughout her home. She had a passion for shopping and stocking up on household supplies, always ready for any occasion.

Izetta is survived by her niece, Sheryl Lauritsen, and her husband, Chris, of Mason City, and several other loving and caring relatives, including Mike and Kim Svejda and family, Michelle Baker and family, Candi Gibbons and family, Tony and Teresa Lauritsen and family, T. Jay and Enid Lauritsen and family and Mark and Lisa Lauritsen and family. Her special friend, Sue Rollesfson, and all her friends and staff at the Good Shepherd Health Center will sadly miss her.

Preceding Izetta in death was her husband, Joseph "Don" Buchan; her parents; two sisters, Hazel Lyons and Geneva Anderson; two brothers, Ernie Anderson and Wayne Anderson, and her niece, Janet McClung.

OSAGE - Marian A. Davison, 81, of Osage, died Saturday (Feb. 22, 2003) at the Osage Rehabilitation and Health Care Center.

Marian was born on Sept. 6, 1921, the daughter of Elmer and Grace (Beenken) Heinold of Mason City.

On June 30, 1939, she was united in marriage to Robert Davison in Mason City.

RUDD - Frances A. "Irish" Schweizer, 76, of Rudd, died Saturday (Feb. 22, 2003) at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City.

Her funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Holy Name Catholic Church, Rockford, with the Rev. Craig E. Steimel officiating. A graveside service will be held the same day at 1:30 p.m. at Sunnyside Cemetery, Charles City.

Frances was born Oct. 5, 1926, on a farm south of Nora Springs, a daughter of William and Marguerite (McCarthy) O' Rourke. She attended school in both Rockford and Nora Springs, graduating from Nora Springs High School.

Irish then graduated from Hamilton Business College in Mason City and began work at J.P. Deckers and later at the ASCS office, both in Mason City.

She was united in marriage to Paul J. Schweizer on Oct. 6, 1947. They farmed near Rudd for many years while Irish also worked at the Rudd Meat Locker and at a local restaurant.

She was a Music Mother, Cub Scout leader, Lioness, and a member of the AMVETS Auxiliary and the Rudd Senior Citizens Center. Irish was also active in her Catholic faith as a circle rosary society member.

She enjoyed cards, bingo, crafts, puzzles, camping, fishing, decorating with Christmas lights and watching Iowa Hawkeye basketball. Irish was active in numerous community events, but most enjoyed attending the many activities of her children, grandchildren and neighbor children throughout the years.

Frances is survived by three sons and their spouses, Mike and Mary Ann Schweizer of Mason City, Randy and Sandy Schweizer of Marble Rock, and Stan and Nancy Schweizer of Rudd; one daughter and her husband, Jackie and Craig Schmitt of Floyd; two brothers, Clem O' Rourke of Mason City and Larry O'Rourke of Rockford, Ill.; one sister, Joan Showalter of Grand Forks, N.D.; 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Paul; a son, Kenny; a granddaughter, Kristen; an infant brother, Billy, and two sisters, Helen White and Marilyn Bork.

FORT DODGE - Richard Madson, 85, of Heritage Apartments, Friendship Haven, and formerly of rural Wesley, died Saturday (Feb. 22, 2003) at the Heritage Apartments.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Wesley United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Britt with full military honors.

Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Gunderson Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Fort Dodge.

Richard Paul Madson was born March 9, 1917, on a farm near Britt to Paul and Mary (Munson) Madson. He attended country school in Crystal Township and graduated from Britt High School in 1934. He attended the Britt Junior College for one year.

Richard farmed and did carpenter and electrical work with his father. In July 1942, he entered the Army Air Corps and served in World War II until October 1945, spending 12 months overseas. Richard was a first lieutenant navigator on B-25s and served in the South Pacific. He flew over 46 missions and was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross.

On Aug. 10, 1947, he married Dolores Caldwell at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. After their marriage, the couple did a lot of traveling and shared their interests in current events and history.

The couple resided on a farm near Wesley for 37 years and Richard also served as secretary of the Corwith-Wesley School Board for 17 years.

In April of 1984, they retired to Friendship Haven in Fort Dodge. His wife died Dec. 19, 1996, and after her death, he continued to live at Friendship Haven, moving into the Heritage Apartments in October of 2002.

Richard is survived by one sister, Lola Muhm and her husband, Merle, of Britt, and 11 nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; two sisters and their husbands, Alice and Leonard Madson and Thelma and Russel Swanson; and a brother and a sister in infancy.

David was born Dec. 1, 1931, in Duluth, Minn. He served his country in the United States Air Force from 1947 until 1951, at which time he was honorably discharged.

David attended Fullerton College in Fullerton, Calif., and later was united in marriage to Kondilo "Dilo" Woonas on June 30, 1979, in Mason City. He retired in 1993 from his position as the admissions director at Boise Court Reporting Institute in Boise, Idaho.

David was a distinguished employee at B.C.R.I. and will be well-remembered for his leasing equipment programs and sales and marketing skills. Some of David's special interests and leisure activities were portrayed in his love of the outdoors. He treasured time spent fishing and hunting in Canada, Minnesota and the western states, and pheasant hunting in Iowa. He maintained a private pilot's license and took to the sky as often as he could. David and Dilo enjoyed the adventures they had while traveling together. David relished much pride in his woodworking skills. David had a great love and dedication to his Orthodox faith.

David is survived by his wife, Kondilo, of Mason City; his mother-in-law, Helen Woonas, of Mason City; his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Maria and George Thomas, of Rochester, Minn.; two nephews, Jim (Pam) Thomas, of Charlotte, N.C., and Mark (Julia) Thomas, of Atlanta, Ga.; godchildren, Maria Kalogeras, Nico Kotsopoulos, Maurice Sheehy, Nicole Davis and Kascey Sheehy. Two aunts, Mary Davis, of Austin, Minn., and Esther Sheehy, of Mason City, and two great-nieces and two great-nephews, Matthew and Dianna Thomas, of Charlotte, N.C., and George and Emily Thomas of Atlanta, Ga., will also sadly miss him.

Ruby was born Jan. 14, 1911, in Goldfield, Iowa, the daughter of Charlie and Louisa (Frye) Payne. She attended school in Lime Springs, Iowa.

Ruby married Robert E. Holder on July 10, 1934, in Waterloo. They moved to Mason City in 1944. Ruby worked as a court attendant at the Cerro Gordo County Courthouse for 19 years, retiring in 1991.

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and volunteered at the church as well as the Discovery Shop and RSVP. Her family was the center of her life. She enjoyed visits from her grandchildren and hearing of their activities. Traveling, collecting Precious Moments, baking and caring for plants were among her favorite things to do.

Ruby is survived by a son, William R. Holder and wife, Helen, of Austin, Minn., and a daughter, Mary L. Shane, the son of Jerry and Agnes Becker Frank, was born May 31, 1975, in Britt. He attended school in Britt and graduated from CWHS in 1994.

Following graduation, Shane attended Albert Lea Technical College for diesel mechanics after which he drove semi and worked as a mechanic. Later, he attended Rochester Area Community College for computer programming. While in school, he worked at Aquarius in Rochester.

Shane was employed in construction in Rochester. Just prior to his death, he was accepted into the Army in a position to do computer programming.

Shane's hobbies included snowmobiling, bicycling, welding garden ornaments and sports. He also spent time with friends, family and cars.

Shane is survived by his parents, Jerry and Agnes Frank of Britt; three sisters and one brother, Jeri Kay Frank-Kurtzleben and her husband, James, of Marion, Iowa, Tracy Burge and her husband, Kevin, and their son, Hunter, of Platte City, Mo., Tonya Frank and her boyfriend, Justin Wadel, of Missouri, and Trent Frank of Britt; maternal grandmother, Kathleen Becker of Algona; and paternal grandmother, LaVerna Frank of Britt.

Gilbert Lawson Miner was born Aug. 18, 1909, in Cerro Gordo County, the son of Gilbert and Andromeda (Secor) Minor. He graduated from the Clear Lake High School in 1927.

On Feb. 18, 1934, he was united in marriage to Eleanor Huntley at Mason City. They moved to Osage where they owned and operated Miner's Dairy. After selling the dairy, Gilbert began working with freight. When he retired at the age of 68 he was terminal manager and rate clerk for Kroblin Transportation of Charles City.

The year of his retirement the Charles City Chamber of Commerce honored him as Boss of the Year. Gilbert was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church, Floyd.

After retiring, he joined the Loyal Order of the Moose in Mason City. He served as local, district, and state officer, was honorary state president, served on several Mooseheart committees at national conventions. Gilbert, through the Moose Lodge, was chairman of the Red Cross Blood Mobile Drive for several years.

Hunting and fishing were his favorite pastimes. Fishing would find Gilbert, son Roger, and son-in-law, Veryl Rademacher at Clear Lake, Lake Michigan, and the Mississippi and Missouri Rivers. Hunting would find them in Montana and Alaska. He also was an gardener and liked working with flowers.

Living family members include his wife, Eleanor, of Floyd; a son, Roger (Linda) Miner, of Lincoln, Neb.; a daughter, Pat (Verle) Rademacher of Sulphur Springs, Mont.; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and four sisters.

GORDON WILHELM AASGAARD

LAKE MILLS - Gordon Wilhelm Aasgaard, 96, of Lake Mills, died Friday (Feb. 21, 2003) at the Albert Lea Medical Center in Albert Lea, Minn.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Salem Lutheran Church in Lake Mills, with the Rev. Roger Dykstra officiating. Burial will take place at Salem Lutheran Cemetery in Lake Mills.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Mittelstadt Funeral Home in Lake Mills and again one hour prior to services on Friday at the church.

Gordon Wilhelm Aasgaard, born April 2, 1906, was the son of Martin A. and Ragna (Mykleby) Aasgaard. He lived his entire life in Lake Mills, being baptized and confirmed at Salem Lutheran Church in Lake Mills and graduated from Lake Mills High School in the "Class of 1924". He played quarterback on the first football team at Lake Mills and went to Waldorf College where he also played football, toured with the band and small groups, and graduated in 1926.

On May 20, 1927, he married Opal Monson at Salem Lutheran Church.

After college he assisted his father who was the local postmaster and they were partners in the newspaper business, The Lake Mills Graphic. Besides the newspaper, he was also in the printing and publishing business, operating the Graphic Publishing Company until 1985.

In the late 1930s and early '40s he was a partner in the Owatonna Photo News which was the first offset newspaper in the Upper Midwest. Together with his wife, Opal, they were in the retail business in Lake Mills where they owned Milady's Style Shop and they were partners in starting similar retail businesses in Eagle Grove, Mason City, Ida Grove and Mankato.

Throughout his career in the business world, he was a willing and capable mentor to many individuals. He was always willing to share his knowledge and resources with others who were starting a business.

Gordon was a charter member of the Lions Club in Lake Mills and also a past president of both the Lions Club and the Chamber of Commerce. He was a founding member of the Lake Mills Development Group. For approximately 25 years he was secretary of the Waldorf College Board.

The University of Iowa chapter of Sigma Delta Chi made him an honorary member. He was a member and past president of the Iowa Press Association. In 1961 he received the Master Editor Award for the State of Iowa. In 1984 he received the Distinguished Alumni Award from Waldorf College.

He was a kind and patient Christian man and demonstrated that many times to his family, his friends and his community. He loved music and enjoyed playing the piano. He was also an avid sports fan. It was always very evident that he took pride in his hometown, Lake Mills.

Gordon is survived by one daughter, Betty Aasgaard, of Burnsville, Minn.: two granddaughters, Carolyn Ladd and her husband, Jonathan Weber, of Hamden, Conn. and Roselyn Weber and her husband, Philip Weber; and two great-grandchildren, Britta and Noah Weber, all of Austin, Texas; his sister-in-law, Helen Aasgaard; and his nephew, Rick Aasgaard and his wife, Karen, of Lake Mills; niece, Wendy Aasgaard Johnson, of Apple Valley, Minn.; and another nephew, Mike Jensen and his wife, Gloria, of Osseo, Wis.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Opal, in 1966; his parents; two brothers, Marlin and John; and one sister, Olga Jensen.

WILBUR 'BILL' HENRY

CHARLES CITY - Wilbur "Bill" Henry, 95, of Charles City, died Saturday (Feb. 22, 2003) at the 11th Street Chautauqua Guest Home in Charles City.

Funeral services for Bill Henry will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Hauser Funeral Home, 1205 S. Main St. in Charles City, with the Rev. David Werges, a pastor of Saint John Evangelical Lutheran Church, officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Hauser Funeral Home from 4 to 8 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. until service time Wednesday.

Wilbur William Henry was born Jan. 23, 1908, at Carville, the son of William and Alice (Campbell) Henry. At an early age he moved to Floyd where he received his education at the Floyd school.

On June 24, 1938, he was united in marriage to Laura Mannetter at Osage. They farmed near Charles City all their lives, remained on the farm after retirement and then moved together to the 11th Street Chautauqua Guest Home in March of 2002.

Bill was a man from simpler times, believing in hard work and "elbow grease", working from sun up 'til sun down and enjoying a good home cooked meal at the end of the day before settling into his chair to read.

Among his special interests were planting a garden with his beloved companion, Laura, that would be large enough to share with relatives, friends, and neighbors, listening to the markets on the radio, reading, going to the elevator for both business and pleasure which included visiting with fellow farmers, baking bread and rolls, and spending time with David and family on their Sunday afternoon visits to the farm whether it was to cut down a tree that needed tending to or helping in the garden.

Living family members include his wife, Laura, of Charles City; a son, Bruce Henry, of Denver, Colo.; a grandson, David (Denise) Bledsoe, of Charles City; and a great-granddaughter, Katelyn Bledsoe.

His parents; a daughter, Marlys Bledsoe; a sister, Edith Gauger; and a brother, Clarence Henry, preceded him in death.

MASON CITY - Hilda Sandman, 91, of 501 S. Kentucky Ave., died Sunday (Feb. 23, 2003) at Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City.
