A funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at First Congregational Church, Buffalo Center, with Pastor David Langer officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery, Buffalo Center.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Winter Funeral Home, 414 First St. N.W., Buffalo Center, and will resume one hour before the service at the church Wednesday.

WHITTEMORE - Donna Marie Christensen, 62, died Saturday (July 14, 2001) at Kossuth Regional Health Center, Algona.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Michael's Catholic Church, Whittemore, with the Rev. Victor Ramaeker officiating. Burial will be at St. John's Cemetery, Emmetsburg.

MASON CITY - Helen D. Harmon, 86, of 302 Second St. N.E., formerly of 816 Ninth St. N.E., died Saturday (July 14, 2001) at Good Shepherd Health Center, Mason City.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave., Mason City, with the Rev. Douglas Anderson of First United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Mason City.

Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home and until the time of the service Wednesday.

KANAWHA - John F. Rietema Jr., 77, died Sunday (July 15, 2001) at his daughter's home in rural Kanawha.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Kanawha Christian Reformed Church with the Rev. Tony VanZanten and the Rev. Charles Walton officiating. Burial will be in Amsterdam Township Cemetery in Kanawha with full military graveside services conducted by the Kanawha American Legion Post.

Friends may greet the family from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Ewing Dugger Funeral Chapel, Kanawha, and one hour prior to the services at the church Wednesday.

ROCKFORD - Merle G. Meader, 78, of 601 First Ave. S.W., died Saturday (July 14, 2001) at Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Zion Lutheran Church in Rockford with the Rev. Clarence Balsum officiating. Interment will be held in Riverside Cemetery, Rockford.

KATHY DEE KRAUS

MASON CITY - Kathy Dee Kraus, 31, of 916 N. Delaware , died Friday (July 13, 2001) at St. Marys Hospital, Rochester, Minn., following a lengthy illness.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Grace United Methodist Church, 200 Fourteenth St. N.W., Mason City, with the Rev. Robert Connor officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Mason City.

Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave., Mason City, and one hour prior to the service time at the church Tuesday.

Memorials may be directed to the family.

Kathy was born May 25, 1970, in Mason City. She grew up in Mason City. She attended and graduated from Mason City schools.

Before becoming ill, Kathy worked as a kitchen prep at Bonanza Restaurant, a cashier at Wal-Mart and a cook at Gerard of Iowa.

She filled her life embroidering, reading, listening to music, watching television, baby-sitting and collecting. She loved to go rummaging, to flea markets, auctions and antique shops. She was always on the lookout for something to add to hers or someone else's collection.

Kathy was a happy, loving, caring person. She always enjoyed shopping for holidays and birthdays and always had the best ideas for gifts.

She will be greatly missed by her mother, Janice Kraus of Mason City; her father and stepmother, Larry and Sue Kraus of Mason City; sisters, Kimberly and Kari Kraus at home, a brother, Kevin Kraus and his wife, Jana, of Northwood; several aunts, uncles and cousins; and especially her niece, Bailey Kraus of Northwood. Kathy will also be sadly missed by the children she helped baby-sit for many years, Derreck, Jarrod and Jilann Tell.

Kathy was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, James and Dorothy Kraus Norris.

CLAUDE DEXTER ALEXANDER

GREENE - Funeral services for Claude Dexter Alexander, 84, of 306 S. Main, will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Church of Christ in Bristow with Pastor Sam Abraham and Pastor Glen Bandel officiating. Burial will be at 1:15 p.m. at Rose Hill Cemetery, Greene, with military rites conducted by the Tack Barnett Post 268 American Legion of Greene.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Reid's Funeral Chapel, Greene, and will continue Wednesday one hour before services at the church Wednesday.

Claude Dexter Alexander was born March 26, 1917, in Muskogee, Okla., a son of Kay Lambert and Maude Ethel (Arnold) Alexander, and died Sunday (July 15, 2001) at Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa in Mason City of a heart attack.

He received his education in the public schools in Okmulgee, Okla., graduating in 1936. As a young man he moved to Long Beach, Calif., where he was employed by the North American Air Plant. On Jan. 4, 1943, he was inducted into the United States Army Air Force where he served with the 25th Bombardment Squadron. On Aug. 24, 1943, he was united in marriage to Mary Louise Hobbs in Denver, Colo. He served in the Western Pacific, Central Burma and in Air Offensive Japan where was awarded the Air Medal with four Bronze Oak Leaf Clusters and the Distinguished Flying Cross.

Following his discharge on Sept. 19, 1945, he moved to Iowa where he was employed by the Butler County Rural Electric Cooperative in Allison as warehouse manager. He retired in 1982 with 36 years of service to the R.E.C.

Dexter will be remembered riding around town on his motorcycle, visiting friends and enjoying television. He was baptized a member of the Church of Christ in Greene in 1954 and after that church closed he was a member of the Church of Christ in Bristow.

Living family members include his loving wife of 58 years, Mary of Greene; one daughter, Kay and Bernie Simmons of Hastings, Minn.; three sons, Marvin of Omaha, Neb., Michael and C.J. of Omaha, Neb., and Paul and Ruth of Oklahoma City, Okla.; 12 grandchildren, John, Carrie, Derek, Nicole, Daniel, Katy, Sararose, Jane, Jessica, Christie, Dexter and James; four great-grandchildren, Kyle, Amanda, Brandon and Brianne; one sister, Frances Hamilton of Highlands Ranch, Colo.

Claude was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Doraline Johnson; a half-brother, Bill Wilson; and two brothers-in-law, John Howard Hamilton and Marvin Johnson.

MERLE G. MEADER

ROCKFORD - Merle G. Meader, 78, of 602 First Ave. S.W. in Rockford died Saturday (July 14, 2001) at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City.

His funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday at the Zion Lutheran Church in Rockford with the Rev. Clarence Balsum officiating. Interment will be held in Riverside Cemetery, Rockford.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Fullerton Funeral Home, 302 W Main in Rockford. Visitation will continue one hour prior to services at the church.

Merle was born on July 11, 1923, in Dent, Minn., the son of Earl and Minnie (Larson) Meader. At the age of five, Merle and his family made their final move to the Rockford area.

During high school, he was employed by the bakery and upon graduation he decided to join the Navy. In 1942 he enlisted in the Navy and was honored with the rank of Motor Machinist's Mate Second Class.

During the time he served his country he was recognized and awarded with the Victory Medal, American Area Campaign Medal, Asiatic Pacific Area Campaign Medal (One Star), Commendation Ribbon and the Good Conduct Medal.

In 1946, Merle left the Navy to return home to find the love of his life and on June 3, 1955, he was united in marriage to Annabelle Joesting.

Merle was known as a hard worker, determined and a positive person that believed that anything was possible if you had a goal and the heart to believe. He spent endless hours working for White Farm in Charles City and helping others when needed.

He was a life long member of the VFW and of the American Legion.

Merle enjoyed listening to KCMR every evening with Big Band music being his favorite. He loved fishing with his son and strolling through the timber to pick mushrooms and gooseberries to be eaten or canned. He was a superb cook that wasn't afraid of using spices but his greatest joy was spending time with his family and his three- year-old granddaughter.

Merle's memory will be cherished and honored by those that loved him dearly, his wife, Annabelle; one son, Bradly and his wife, Kelly, of Hampton and their daughter, Caitlin Ann; one sister, Mildred McElroy, of Rockford; many nieces, nephews and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, sister, Helen; and two brothers, Glen and Lee.

INEZ OLK

HAMPTON - Inez Olk, 91, of Hampton, died Sunday morning (July 15, 2001) at Hampton Health Care Center in Hampton.

Her funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday at the Immanual United Church of Christ in Latimer, with Pastor Greg Smith officiating. Burial will be in the Marion Center Cemetery in rural Latimer.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the Willim Funeral Home in Latimer as well as after 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday at the church.

Inez Olk was born in Franklin County on June 2, 1910, to George and Martha (Freie) Muhlenbruck. She was baptized on July 3, 1910, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Latimer and later confirmed on April 5, 1925, at the Evangelical and Reformed Church at Marion Center. She graduated from Latimer High School and attended a business school in Des Moines.

Inez was united in marriage to Joe Olk on Sept. 27, 1935, at the Evangelical & Reformed Church at Marion Center.

Handwork and crafts were her favorite hobbies. She made many of her own clothes and clothes for her family. For a number of years she belonged to a ladies quilting group that made many beautiful quilts. She also enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and embroidery.

She was a member of the Immanuel United Church of Christ of Latimer and was active in the church Women's Fellowship.

Inez and her husband, Joe, were engaged in farming. In 1970 they retired and moved into Latimer. In November of 1995, she entered the Hampton Health Care Center.

Inez is survived by five children, Beverly (Dale) Nielsen, of Ridgeway, Marilyn (James) Jensen, of Hampton, Joan (Donald) Pralle, of Latimer, James (JoAnn) Olk, of Phoenix, Ariz., and Chuck (Sandy) Olk, of Latimer; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; two half brothers, Calvin (Dayle) Muhlenbruck, of Cheyenne, Wyo., and Kerwood Muhlenbruck, of Phoenix, Ariz.

Inez was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Joe, on Feb. 11, 1985; two sisters, Gladys Bergman and Nina Mason; a stepsister, Mildred Grummer; three half sisters, Lavonne Schaeffer, Eunice Fontana, and Veone Watson; one infant grandson, Dale John Nielsen; and one granddaughter, Janet Nielsen.

Helen Deloris Harmon was born on Aug. 9, 1914, in Hampton, the daughter of Reuben and Elsie (Shear) Hinton. She graduated from Mason City High School.

She was united in marriage to Charles Harmon on Oct. 19, 1939, in Des Moines. In 1940 they moved to Mason City where they made their home.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church.

She was a devoted wife and mother who will be remembered for her caring and supportive ways.

She will be greatly missed by her husband of 61 years, Charles Harmon, of Mason City; son, Richard C. Harmon, and his wife, Janet L., of Ankeny; daughter, Linda See and husband, Jim, of Mahtomedi, Minn.; grandchildren, Michelle Barker and husband, Jeff, of Dunlap, Ill., Shawn Harmon and wife, Angie, of Fishers, Ind., Corey Harmon and wife, Jennifer, of Terre Haute, Ind.; great-grandchildren, Allison Barker, Madison Barker, and Chase Harmon; Aunt, Mona Harmon, of Hampton; and special cousins, Dallas Shear and wife, Betty, of Hampton.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and sister, Thelma Hinton.

ST. ANSGAR - Mildred C. Haensch, 97, formerly of Mason City, died Tuesday (July 17, 2001) at the St. Ansgar Care Center.

The funeral will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave. in Mason City.

Visitation will be held from noon until time of services on Thursday at the funeral home.

HAZEL HOLLINGER TOMAN GEORGE

DIAGONAL - Hazel Hollinger Toman George, 89, of Diagonal, passed away Sunday morning, July 15, 2001, at the Clearfield Nursing Home.

Her funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday at the United Church of Diagonal.

Visitation will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the Diagonal Funeral Home.

Interment will be at the Bohemian Cemetery next to her second husband, Victor "Pete" Toman.

Memorials may be directed to Hazel Hollinger Toman George Memorial Fund.

Hazel Lucille Elston was born on Feb. 7, 1912, near Pleasanton, to Ernest and Vesta Still Elston. Her father passed away in 1920 when she was eight years old. Her mother re-married in 1933 to Lawrence Graves.

Hazel was united in marriage on Oct 30, 1930, to Miles Hollinger, son of Harold "Harry" and Maude Orey Hollinger. To this union their five children were born. They lived in the Pleasanton and Maloy area before coming to Diagonal. Miles passed away on Nov 17, 1959.

In 1963 she married Victor "Pete" Toman, with whom she lived almost 20 happy, rewarding years until his death in 1982.

She married Art George in 1990 and he passed away in 1996.

Hazel raised her children with love, going without herself sometimes to make sure they were educated and would have a good start in life.

She worked several years for Diagonal businesses.

She enjoyed gardening, quilting, bingo and was always ready for a game of cards. She lived on the farm till this last year, when she made the decision to move to town beside her daughter, Myrt, who cared for her a great deal the last few years. She was very proud of her children and enjoyed her children and grandchildren.

She is survived by three sons, Harold "Jock" and wife, Hildred, of Merrill, Robert and wife, Marie, of Mason City, and George and wife, Marilyn, of Omaha, Neb.; two daughters, Myrt and husband, Don Synder, of Diagonal, and Jenny and husband, Kayle "Zim" Zimmerman of Lenox ; 13 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Anna Meyer, of Mason City, and Sara Foster, of Ankeny; half-brother, Billy Graves, of Des Moines; and sisters-in law, Elsie Jones, of Trenton, Mo. and Myrt Andrew, of Lineville.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three husbands, a young brother and sister and a half brother and sister.

REDFORD, Mich. - Dustin James Nelson, 23, of Redford, Mich., grandson of Lorene Haddy, of Clear Lake, died Monday (July 16, 2001) in Redford.

DONALD WAYNE RUCKER

VAN NUYS, Calif. - Memorial services for Wayne Rucker, 83, formerly of Mason City, were held on June 23, at Malibu, Calif. He died at his home, 5449 Van Noord Ave. in Van Nuys, on June 12, 2001.

He was a lifelong member of the Musicians Union.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Jonni; three sons, Gary, of Medford, Ore., Gene, of Seattle, Wash., and Steve, of Malibu, Calif.; five grandchildren; one great-grandson; two sisters, Ruth Johnson, of Mason City, and Dorothy Thompson, of Rockwell; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Carma Muth and Velma Hammond; and two brothers, Elbert Rucker and Wilbur "Putty" Rucker.

BELMOND - Iola J. Johnson, 93, of Belmond, died Tuesday (July 17, 2001) at the Belmond Health Care Center in Belmond.

DENNIS NICHOLAS KALOGERAS

HOUSTON, Texas - Dennis Nicholas Kalogeras, 48, passed away Saturday (July 14, 2001).

He was born on March 23, 1953, in Mason City. Dennis and his family moved to Houston in 1968.

Dennis was preceded in death by his father, Nicholas D. Kalogeras, in 1980.

Dennis is survived by his mother, Stella Kalogeras; his sister and brother-in-law, Maria and Fermin Montoya; his brother and sister-in-law, Steve N. and Christy Kalogeras; nephews, Joseph, Nicholas and Christopher; nieces, Nicole, Megan and Caitlin; and great-niece, Angelica; along with many other cousins, aunts, uncles and friends in Houston, Mason City and Greece.

A Trisagion service was held Tuesday at Hyde Park Funeral Chapel, Houston.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. today from Annunciation Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 3511 Yoakum Blvd. in Houston, with Father Nicholas Andrews officiating. Burial will be in Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery.

EDWARD ALLEN COYLE

GARNER - Edward Allen Coyle, 82, of Garner, died Wednesday (July 18, 2001) at the Muse-Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City.

His funeral will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday at Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 N. Fourth St. in Clear Lake. Interment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery in Mason City. Visitation will start at noon prior to services on Friday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be given to Hospice of North Iowa in the name of Edward A. Coyle.

Edward was born Feb. 25, 1919, in Thornton, the son of Edward T. and Dulice (Hartwig) Coyle. He farmed north of Miller in Ellington Township. He married Edna Spitler on Dec. 7, 1941. He later worked at Northern Natural Gas.

He was a resident at Concord Care Center in Garner. He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Miller.

Mildred's first husband was Adolph Andersen. She moved to Mason City in 1954.

Mildred worked for Mode O Day and Marshall and Swift, retiring from Marshall and Swift in 1965.

Mildred was also married to Rudolph Haensch, her third husband.

She was a member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, church circle, Queen Esthers Guild, Silver Advantage, Age Wise, former WWI Auxiliary and past manager of the Senior Citizens Center.

Mildred is survived by eight grandchildren, Tim Pate and wife, Mary, of Manly, Theresa White and husband, Jeff, of St. Ansgar, and Tom Abbas and wife, Nancy, of Mason City, all children of Mildred's deceased daughter, Ramona Abbas; Vickie Voorhees and husband, Don, of North Hudson, Wis., Penny Pederson and husband, Don, of Garner, Jill Pedersen and husband, Marvin, of Jeffers, Minn., Renee Hansen and husband, Larry, of Hampton, and Jonnie Carpenter and husband, Ron, of Newton, all children of Mildred's deceased son, John Andersen; daughter-in-law, Joy Bulow, of St. Ansgar; and many great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren.

He married Barbara Harrison on Nov. 13, 1955, in Mason City. He was employed by Winnebago Industries of Forest City for many years, retiring in 1991.

Alvin was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, U.C.T., V.F.W., Benevolence Lodge #145 A.F. & A.M. He enjoyed gardening.

OSAGE - Alice Constance Schulz, 86, of Osage died Tuesday (July 17, 2001) at her home in Osage. Alice was born March 26, 1915, in Mitchell County, the daughter of Ole and Anna Marie (Heggerustad) Lindley.

She was united in marriage to Harrison V. Schulz on July 30, 1933, at the Rock Creek Lutheran Church at Meroa. The couple farmed in the St. Ansgar area.

She was a homemaker who took great pride in caring for her family. In later years, Alice was employed by Mitchell County Memorial Hospital, retiring in 1977. Harrison died on Feb. 21, 1987.

In 1988 Alice moved to Osage where she made her home.

She was a member of the First Lutheran Church in St. Ansgar.

She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

SHERMAN OAKS, Calif. - Lyle E. Faulken, 66, died Thursday, May 31, 2001, at the Beverly Manor Center Hospice Unit in Burbank, Calif.

Lyle was born on June 2, 1934, the son of Clarence and Eva (Rye) Faulken, in Fertile, Iowa. He graduated from Fertile High School in 1952. After service in the U.S. Navy, he located in Los Angeles. He retired from Sunkist Growers after 31 years.

A sister, Evanelle Perkins, of Yreka, Calif.; a brother, Russell, of Eagan, Minn.; and a sister-in-law, Catherine Faulken, of Mason City; nieces; nephews; and cousins survive him.

TACOMA, Wash. - Oren Thomas Abele, 90, of Tacoma, Wash., passed away on Thursday, March 15, 2001, in Tacoma.

Oren Thomas Abele, the son of Art and Ada (Blank) Abele, was born March 1, 1911, in Charles City.

On June 3, 1934, he married Myrtle Weber at Garner. He spent most of his life as a farmer and later, a locomotive engineer with the Chicago Great Western Railroad in Iowa. His fondest memories and greatest stories came from those years.

After his retirement, Oren moved with Myrtle to Washington State in 1970 to be near his son and daughter.

In later years, he married Lorene Bell, who survives him, living many years in the Puyallup area. Oren was a woodworker all his life and, in his retirement, was happiest puttering in his shop or working in his garden. The last five years of his life he enjoyed living at and ministering to residents of Life Manor in Tacoma. He is missed by many great friends he has made there.

Oren is survived by his wife, Lorene; two children, Larry Abele and Rosy Clark, both of Tacoma, Wash.; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a brother, John Abele and his wife, Ivadell, of Garner; and a sister, Marguerite Wogen and her husband, Lindley, of LaGrande.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Myrtle in 1980; an infant son, Arthur; his parents; a sister, Ruby; and a brother, Carlyle.

Margaret was born July 19, 1920, in Milltown, Wis., the daughter of Andrew and Celilia Ann (Schuler) Gollner. She moved in infancy with her family to Wesley. She was raised on the family farm and attended rural school. She then moved to Waterloo and worked at Rath Packing Plant.

Margaret married Harold LeRoy Hornbuckle on July 19, 1946, in Waterloo. She continued to live in Waterloo until 1992, when, due to ill health, she moved to Clear Lake and Mason City area to be close to her family.

Margaret loved shopping for antiques. She also loved motorcycles and was an avid Harley fan. She was a member of the American Motorcycle Association. She was also a member of the St. Edwards Catholic Church in Waterloo.

Margaret is survived by her son, Dick Hornbuckle and his wife, Vickie, of Mason City; four grandchildren, Kimberly Ann Bailey and her husband, Mike, and their child, Maddison Raye, of Minneapolis, Minn., Chad Hornbuckle and his wife, Debbie, and their children Alex, Jake and Cassie, Minneapolis, Minn., Jason Hornbuckle and his wife, Heather, and their children, Jonathan and Allysa, of Minneapolis, Minn. and Christopher Hornbuckle and his wife, Teresa, of Minneapolis, Minn.; her brother-in-law, Francis Pfeffer, of Titonka; and her sister-in-law, Dora Gollner, of Britt.

Iola was united in marriage to Harold J. Johnson on Dec. 17, 1927. The couple made their home in Belmond. To this union were born three children Harold Jr., Nancy and Terry.

Iola belonged to Trinity Lutheran Church, American Legion Auxiliary, a historical society, Charter Member of the Hospital Auxiliary and was a life member of Trinity Ladies Aid.

Iola was a devoted mother and wife. She gave of herself to many organizations and friends. She will be greatly missed.

Doris Irene Reyerson was born June 13, 1914. She was the 10th child born to Emil and Minnie (Peterson) Nelson in Freeman Township near Glenville, Minn., where she attended rural school.

She lived near Glenville until her marriage to Lewis O. Reyerson on Sept. 3, 1937. They lived on the Reyerson home farm all of their married life of 37 years.

She helped her husband with the farm work until his death on July 19, 1975. She continued to help with farm work until a stroke in 1993.

She was a member of the Round Prairie Church until her marriage and then a member of Silver Lake Lutheran Church and church women.

Before her stroke, she enjoyed dancing, golfing and bowling. She continued to enjoy her family, children and grandchildren. She loved baking, especially lefse, cinnamon rolls, Kolaches and pies. She also looked forward to visits from her sisters and brothers to play cards and have coffee.

Doris is survived by her three children, Sharon and her husband, Paul Helgeson, of Northwood, Dennis Reyerson, of Northwood, and Marlene Reyerson, of Mason City; six grandchildren, Michelle Perry and husband, Rick, Susan

Marie Kallas was born on Aug. 21, 1909, in Frindola, Italy, the daughter of Antonio and Louise (Buccella) Marroni. Marie moved from Italy to Mason City in 1920 with her family, and attended McKinley School in Mason City.

She was united in marriage to William Kallas on Dec. 3, 1927, and their union was blessed with two sons, George and Tony. Her husband preceded her in death in 1969.

Marie worked for Jacob E. Decker Meat Co., in Mason City for 32 years.

Marie loved her home and garden, spending many hours tending her vegetables and flowers, and enjoyed visiting with neighbors and friends. She was a very loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who devoted her life to her family.

Those who remain to cherish her memory include her son, Tony Kallas and his special friend, Berneil Preul, of Ida Grove, daughter-in-law, Marjorie Kallas, of Mason City; three sisters, Lucy Bilyeu and Angeline Melby, both of Mason City, and Lorraine McCollough and her husband, Dean, of Clarion; one brother, Gabe and his wife, Pat, Marroni, of Mason City; a brother-in-law, Red Johnson, of Mason City; a

Redford, Mich. - Dustin James Nelson, 23, of Redford, Mich., died Monday ( July 16, 2001) in Michigan.

His memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday at the Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 N. Fourth St. in Clear Lake. Inurnment will be at the Clear Lake Cemetery.

Visitation with Family will be from 10 a.m. until time of services on Monday at Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel.

Memorials may be given to the Dustin James Nelson Memorial Fund.

Dustin was born Feb. 6, 1978, in Garden City, Mich., the son of Robert and Linda (Dickirson) Nelson. He attended schools in Garden City, Mich. Dustin enjoyed coming to Clear Lake and spending time with his Grandmother and cousins.

Dustin is survived by his father, Robert Nelson, of Phoenix, Ariz.; one brother, Darren Nelson and his wife, Michele, of Redford, Mich.; his niece, Kayleigh Nelson, of Redford, Mich.; maternal grandmother, Lorene Haddy and her husband, Speck, of Clear Lake, and paternal grandmother, Ginny Nelson, of Detroit, Mich.; and aunts and uncles, Diana Byington and her husband, Tim, of Clear Lake, Darcy Skellenger and her husband, Dan, of Clear Lake, Jeffrey Pierce and his wife Amy, of Rochester, Minn., Richard Nelson and his wife, Jackie, of Jackson, Mich., Betty Burnette and her husband, Jim, of Westland, Mich. and Jody Cramer, of Owatonna, Minn.

Dustin was preceded in death by his mother in 1995.

CLEAR LAKE - Elizabeth Meier Groh, 90, of Clear Lake, passed away Wednesday (July 18, 2001) at USA Healthcare Center in Mason City.

Her funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Garner, with Pastor Clyde Kieschnick officiating. Interment will be at Concord Township Cemetery in Garner.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the Cataldo Funeral Home, 160 E. Fourth St. in Garner, and one hour before services at the church.

Memorials may be directed to St. Paul Lutheran Church.

Elizabeth Meier Groh, the daughter of Phillip and Omie (Nolte) Henkel, was born April 12, 1911, in Norka, Russia, which is now part of Germany.

She moved with her family to the United States at age 2 and settled on a farm near Hayfield. She attended school at Hayfield. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Garner.

On Nov. 20, 1932, she was married to Robert Meier at St. Paul Lutheran Church. They were the first couple to be married at St. Paul. They made their home north of Britt, where Elizabeth raised chickens and helped her husband farm. On May 26, 1976, Robert passed away.

On June 4, 1978, she was married to Fred Groh at St. Paul Lutheran Church. They made their home in Clear Lake. Fred passed away in December 1993. Due to ill health, Elizabeth moved to the USA Healthcare Center in Mason City in 1994.

She enjoyed flowers and gardening, along with church activities at St. Paul Lutheran Church, where she was a member.

She is survived by her son, Gerald Meier and his wife, Elise, of Clear Lake; two granddaughters, Cathy McDougle and her husband, James, of Excelsior, Minn. and Cindy Meier, of Inver Grove Heights, Minn.; a stepdaughter, Shirley Dorow and her husband, Rev. Maynard, of Arden Hills, Minn.; four stepgrandchildren, John Dorow and his wife, Julie, and their two children, Adam and Hannah, of St. Paul, Minn., Mary Nelson and her husband, Rich, of St. Paul, Minn., Peter Dorow and his wife, Monica and their two sons, Jason and Matthew, of Burnsville, Minn. and Sara Dorow of Minneapolis; and two stepsisters, Mollie Davis and Ann Boonstra, of Mason City.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands; a sister, Margaret Braun; a brother in Germany; a stepsister, Kathryn Warner; and two stepbrothers, Pete and George Green.
