SHEFFIELD - Clarence "Casey" Heuberger, 79, of Sheffield, died Friday (April 20, 2001) at the Sheffield Care Center.

MASON CITY - Margaret Donahue, 80, of 1016 N. Hampshire Ave., died Friday (April 20, 2001) at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City.

FOREST CITY - Irene Strommen, 66, of Forest City, died Friday (April 20, 2001) at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester, Minn.

LUCILLE ISABELLA JOHNSON

MASON CITY - Lucille Isabella Johnson, daughter of John Albert and Frances Cordelia (Smith) Johnson, was born Feb. 25, 1903, in rural Chester. She attended Carleton College, Iowa State College and got her bachelor of arts degree from the State University of Iowa in 1932.

She taught in rural schools and also taught in West Des Moines, Perry, Maynard, Cherokee and Mason City. She started the special education program in Cherokee and the Junior High program for Educable Mentally Retarded in Mason City in 1951 and taught there until her retirement in 1969.

Lucille moved to Sumner in April 1992. She entered Hillcrest Nursing Home in February 1998, where she remained until her death on Thursday (April 19, 2001).

She was a member of the NRTA, life member of the Iowa State Education Association, a 50-year member of the Wa-tan-ye Club, the First Presbyterian Church, Alpha Delta Kappa and a life member of Pioneer Museum Historical Society.

Survivors include her brother, George Johnson, of Chester; two sisters, Mabel Rembold, of Sumner and Nellie Miller, of Chillicothe, Ill.; and 10 nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Allen; and a sister, Clarice VanZante.

The funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday at the Lindstrom Funeral Home in Lime Springs, with the Rev. Tim Sir officiating. Burial will be in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 to 6 p.m. on Sunday at the Lindstrom Funeral Home and before services on Monday.

CATHERINE LEMKE

KLEMME - Catherine Wendell Lemke, 84, of Klemme, died March 22, 2001, southwest of Kanawha in Wright County.

The funeral was held on March 27, in Texas. A memorial service was held on March 29 in Klemme.

ROSE WESSELS

BELOIT, Wis. - Rose Wessels, 86, 1110 Harrison Ave. in Beloit, died April 14, 2001, in the Beloit Health and Rehabilitation Center.

The funeral was held on April 18, in the Atonement Lutheran Church, 901 Harrison Ave. in Beloit, with the Rev. Frank Phillip officiating. Burial was in Floral Lawns Cemetery.

Visitation was held on April 17 at the Hansen Funeral Home, in Beloit.

Memorials may be directed to the church.

MASON CITY - Lizzie (Mrs. Paul) Brown, 92, of Mason City, died Friday (April 20, 2001) at the Samaritan Bethany Heights Nursing Home in Rochester, Minn.

EAST MOLINE, Ill. - Johanna Espeland, 60, of East Moline, formerly of Rake, died Friday (April 20, 2001) at the Rosewood Health Care Center in East Moline.

MASON CITY - Esther B. Smith, 91, of 115 S. Virginia Ave. and formerly of Hampton, died Thursday (April 19, 2001).

The funeral will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Monday at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, with military rites by the Mason City Memorial Veterans Association.

Visitation will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home and until time of services on Monday.

Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society or Hospice of North Iowa.

EDWARD HEGEL

LAKE MILLS - Edward Hegel, 85, of Lake Mills, died Friday (April 20, 2001) at the Lake Mills Care Center.

The funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Salem Lutheran Church in Lake Mills, with the Rev. Roger Dystra officiating. Burial will take place at the Salem Memorial Cemetery, with military rites conducted by the Lake Mills Otto/Chose Post No. 235.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. on Sunday at the Mittelstadt Funeral Home in Lake Mills and one hour before services on Monday at the church.

ELMER M. 'BUD' BRAMER

GREENE - The funeral for Elmer M. "Bud" Bramer, 85, formerly of 601 N. First St., will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Greene, with Pastor Wayne Hagen officiating. Burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Greene, with graveside Masonic Rites conducted by Vulcan Lodge 498 A.F. & A.M. of Bristow.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Sunday at Reid's Funeral Chapel in Greene, and will continue one hour before services on Monday at the church.

Elmer Martin Bramer was born Dec. 3, 1915, in Bennezette Township, Butler County, a son of Albert and Augusta (Wendt) Bramer, and died Thursday (April 19, 2001) at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City.

He received his education and graduated from the Aredale High School in 1934 and started farming in the Aredale area.

On April 4, 1940, he was united in marriage to Vivian Ilene Fisk at Aredale. They farmed and lived in the Aredale area for the next 40 years, later moving to Greene.

Bud enjoyed hunting and traveling around the world. He donated the mascot ram to the Greene High School. He collected double-barreled shotguns and Aladdin lamps. He loved to tell stories and was an instant friend of those he met.

He was baptized on July 1, 1917 in Aredale and confirmed member of St. Peter Lutheran Church in Greene on Dec. 12, 1965. He was a 50-year member of Vulcan Lodge 498 A.F. & A.M. in Bristow and a former member of the Scottish Rite Consistory, and El Kahir Shrine.

Those left to cherish his member are his two sons, Martin and his wife, Juliene Bramer, of Greene, and Monte Bramer, of Los Angeles; four grandchildren and their spouses, Michael and Erica Bramer, of Dallas, Texas, Gina and Brian Shupe, of Indianapolis, Ind., Jeff and Dana Bramer, of Cedar Rapids, and Matthew and Cricket Bramer, of Moultrie, Ga.; three great-grandchildren, Dustin and Kyle Bramer, and Madelyn Bramer; two sisters-in-law, Violet Bramer, of Des Moines, and June Fisk, of Lafayette, Ind.; brother-in-law, Lowell and his wife, Gerry Fisk, of Oshkosh, Wis.; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Vivian on Sept. 3, 1999; his son, Timothy Bramer on Oct. 4, 1998; his parents; one sister, Helen Kuhn; and two brothers, Raymond and Walter Bramer.

Those planning an expression of sympathy may direct memorials to the Elmer Bramer Memorial Fund in care of the family, which will be designated to the Greene Volunteer Ambulance Fund.

RICHARD J. ROBINSON

ST. CLOUD, Minn. - The funeral for Richard J. Robinson, 62, of St. Cloud, will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday at St. Michael's Catholic Church, St. Cloud, Minn. Interment will be in Humbolt, Neb.

Richard J. Robinson died Thursday (April 19, 2001) at the St. Cloud Hospital.

Friends may call from 4 until 8 p.m. on Sunday at the Williams Funeral Home in St. Cloud, with a parish prayer service at 7 p.m.

Richard was born on Dec. 4, 1938, in Hartford, Conn., to Adrian and Frances (O'Connell) Robinson. He married Lora Mae Hnizda on Dec. 16, 1961, in Iowa City.

Richard was a graduate of the University of Iowa with a bachelor's degree in political science and from the University of California, Los Angeles, with a master's degree in journalism. His family moved to St. Cloud in 1979 from Jenison, Mich.

Richard and his wife were faculty members at St. Cloud State University in the English Department and Department of Business Computer Information Systems respectively. He was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church in St. Cloud.

Richard is survived by his wife; children, Rachel and Sandra, both of St. Cloud, Minn., and Maria, of Minneapolis; brothers, Daniel, of Mason City, and Thomas, of Alabaster, Ala.

VELMA G. MYHRE

CLEAR LAKE - Velma G. Myhre, 74, Clear Lake, died Thursday (April 19, 2001) at the Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa in Mason City.

The funeral will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Monday at Zion Lutheran Church, 112 N. Fourth St. in Clear Lake, with the Rev. Kermit Roisen officiating. Visitation will be held from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. on Sunday at Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel. Interment will be at Memorial Park in Mason City.

Memorials may be given to the Velma G. Myhre Memorial Fund.

Velma was born Nov. 15, 1926, in Manly, the daughter of Amos and Myrta (Raub) Johnson. She attended Manly schools. Velma worked at Mason City Tent & Awning.

She married Lloyd Myhre on April 13, 1946, in Cedar Falls. They lived in Fertile before moving to Mason City and then to Clear Lake in the 1970s.

Velma enjoyed camping. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church of Clear Lake.

Velma is survived by two sons, Gary Myhre and his wife, Barb, of Woodland, Texas, and Mike Myhre, of Thousand Oaks, Calif.; one daughter, Julie Robinson and her husband, Wayne, of Lexington, S.C.; four grandchildren, Ryan Robinson, Gina Robinson, Heather Myhre and Jonny Myhre; and two sisters, Darlene Cory and her husband, Ernest, of Mason City, and Marilyn Barnett, of Waterloo.

Velma was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lloyd (Feb. 9, 1999); three brothers, Richard Johnson, Kenneth Johnson, and Donald Johnson; four sisters, Olive Riekens, Marian Blado, Genevieve Russell and Mavis Kellner.
