Vivian Lavon Weber died peacefully after a courageous bout with cancer on Wednesday, Oct. 4. The family would like to thank the Oncology Unit of Mercy Medical Center and Hospice of North Iowa for the kind, loving care they gave to her as she fought to survive.

Born on March 4, 1916, in Chatsworth, she was the daughter of Bert and Johanna (Bohl) Cox. She was baptized in Bemidji, Minn., in 1927, and married Myron Weber in 1932.

They enjoyed their lives together for 44 years and raised their family in Mason City. Having a home and filling it with love for her five children brought joy and contentment to Vivian.

She got involved in the community by becoming a Cub Scout and Brownie leader. She was active in PTA while her children were in school, joined Mason City Women's Club and volunteered at the Good Shepherd Health Center. St. James Lutheran Church became a second home for Vivian.

She cherished the times spent with friends during Do Days (quilt makers), Friendship Circle, card clubs and Bible studies with Pastor and Mrs. Anderson.

Her flower garden was a source of joy and a labor of love for her. She enjoyed giving "slips" of her favorite blooms to neighbors and family members.

She was an avid reader and enjoyed traveling everywhere from Europe to Hawaii during her lifetime. Time spent "up north" on the Lakes of Minnesota and Wisconsin enriched her life and gave her opportunities to enjoy her beloved family members.

Vivian is survived by her two sons, Myron "Bill" Weber, of Cedar Rapids, and Dennis Weber, of Bloomington, Minn.; two daughters, Sue Asleson and Julie Thomas, of Littleton, Colo.; daughter-in-law, Nancy Weber; a sister, Ruth Becker, of Longmont, Colo.; 11 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
