VINCENT R. DEVINEY

MASON CITY - Vincent R. Deviney, 92, of 302 Second St. N.E., died Monday (Dec. 18, 2000) at the Good Shepherd Health Center in Mason City.

A memorial Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, December 28, 2000 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 302 Fifth St. S.E., with the Rev. David Kucera officiating. Inurnment will be in Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery in Mason City.

There will be no visitation. Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave. is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be given to Hospice of North Iowa.

KENNETH BLAKLEY

WODEN - Kenneth Blakley, 72, of Woden, died Tuesday (Dec. 19, 2000) at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester, Minn.

Funeral services will be held 1:30 p.m. Friday at the First Presbyterian Church in Woden, with the Rev. Roland Emond Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Bingham Township Cemetery, south of Woden, with a flag presentation by the Woden American Legion Ceremonial Unit.

Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. today at the Cataldo Funeral Home in Woden and will continue one hour prior to services on Friday at the church.

Edward "Kenneth" Blakley, the son of Herman and Cynthia Hobart (Hite) Blakley, was born Aug. 12, 1928, at Fordtown, Tenn. In March of 1929 he moved with his family to Titonka where they farmed. He attended the rural schools of Titonka and then graduated from Buffalo Center High School in 1947. He served his country for two years in the U.S. Army in Korea.

Kenny then worked for the Woden Produce for eight years. In 1961, he began farming in the Woden area and continued until he retired in 1995. He loved fishing and woodcarving for his nieces and nephews.

He was a member of the Woden American Legion Post and the Titonka Woodcarver's Club.

He is survived by two sisters, Anna Grace Bacon and her husband, Vern, of Clear Lake, and Donna Blakley of Woden; a niece, Diane Lovick and her husband, Larry; a nephew's wife, Bonnie Bacon, and several great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, James Blakley, on Dec. 21, 1988; and a nephew, Larry Bacon, on June 29, 1993.

LATIMER - Alma Dorothea Freie, 83, of Latimer, died Wednesday (Dec. 20, 2000) at the Franklin General Nursing Facility in Hampton.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Hampton, with the Rev. Wayne Dobratz officiating. Burial will be in the Hampton Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until time of services at the church.

FENTON - Gerald Jentz, 73, of Fenton, died Monday (Dec. 18, 2000) at the Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa in Mason City.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. John's Lutheran Church in Fenton, with Pastor David Schultz officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in Rodman, with military graveside rites by the Fenton American Legion Post No. 627.

CHARLES CITY - Richard J. Koebler, 60, 407 N. Jackson St., Charles City, died Wednesday (Dec. 20, 2000) at the Salsbury Baptist Home in Charles City, following a lengthy illness.

EDWIN E. REYERSON

NORTHWOOD - Edwin E. Reyerson, 97, formerly of the Silver Lake, Iowa, area, died Tuesday (Dec. 19, 2000) at the Good Shepherd Geriatric Center in Mason City.

Funeral services will be held 1:30 p.m. Friday at Silver Lake Lutheran Church in rural Northwood, with the Rev. Steve Smith officiating. Visitation will be from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Friday at the church. Burial will be at Silver Lake Lutheran Cemetery.

Edwin Ensign Reyerson was born Nov. 18, 1903, in Hartland Township, Worth County, Iowa, the son of Halvor and Elsie (Ness) Reyerson.

On May 3, 1930, he was united in marriage to Valborg Nystuen at the Silver Lake Lutheran parsonage. The couple had no children, but enjoyed their nieces and nephews.

After farming a few years in the Silver Lake area, they moved to Albert Lea, Minn., where he worked at the Rilco Rafter Company. They purchased a cabin at St. Olaf Lake where they enjoyed many weekends and later built it into a permanent home where they lived a while before moving to Northwood in their later years. Valborg passed away March 3, 1991.

Edwin will be remembered as a person who took meticulous care of his home, yard and antique collection.

He is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Edwin was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Valborg; one brother, William; six sisters, Andrina Reyerson, Mrs. Rose Larson, Mrs. Gerhard (Ellen) Hanson, Mrs. Ray (Hattie) Christianson, Mrs. Helmer (Minnie) Larson and Mrs. Irvin (Ida) Baker; two nephews, Harris Holt and Roger Reyerson; and one great-nephew, Larry Reyerson.

GLADYS BUTLER

LAKE MILLS - Funeral services for Gladys Butler, 86, of Lake Mills will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Sion Lutheran Church in rural Northwood, with the Rev. Gary Johnson officiating. Burial will be at the Sion Lutheran Church Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. today at the Mittelstadt Funeral Home in Lake Mills and one hour prior to services at the church.

Gladys A. Butler, daughter of Hans and Randena (Hagerud) Quam, was born July 9, 1914, in Freeborn County, Minn. She attended rural schools and Albert Lea High School.

On Feb. 16, 1936, she was united in marriage to Alfred O. Butler at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. Gladys lived in Albert Lea, Minn., then moved to the rural Lake Mills area.

Gladys passed away Wednesday (Dec. 20, 2000) at St. John's Lutheran Home in Albert Lea, Minn., where she had been a resident for the past several years.

She is survived by her children, Allan and his wife, Donna Butler, of Coon Rapids, Minn., Charles and his wife, Pat Butler, of Arvada, Colo., Carol and her husband, Hugh Hall, of Colismesa, Calif., Don and his wife, Lynn Butler, of Missoula, Mont., and Marianne McVey, of Jucaipa, Calif.; 15 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Romelda Quam; and several nieces and nephews.

Gladys was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; three brothers, Sid, Clinton and Ben; three sisters, Eliza, Alice and Hazel; and a grandson, Danny.

MASON CITY - Erna W. Bublitz, 96, of 302 Second St. N.E., died Monday (Dec. 18, 2000) at the Good Shepherd Health Center.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at St. James Lutheran Church, 1148 Fourth St. S.E., with the Rev. David Anderson officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Mason City.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave., and one hour prior to services on Friday at the church.

Memorials may be given to St. James Lutheran Church.

Erna was born March 1, 1904, in Bremer County, the daughter of Moritz and Sarah (Pape) Jaschen. Erna married Elmer F. Bublitz on May 27, 1928, in a country church in Readlyn, Iowa. That same year they moved to Mason City.

For a short time Erna worked at Wass Nursing Home, retiring in 1963.

She was an active member of St. James Lutheran Church where she was involved in Christian Womens Club, Altar Guild and the Womens Choir.

Erna is survived by a daughter, Audrey Slavinski of Broomfield, Colo.; a son, Roger H. Bublitz and his wife, Mary Jo, of Mason City; three grandchildren, Daniel, Michael and Debra; 10 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; four sisters, Lizzie Buhr of Sumner, Hulda Poorman of Sun City, Ariz., Annetta Graening of Waverly, and Malinda Applegate of Sun City, Calif.; son-in-law, Richard Bridgeford of Mason City; and many nieces and nephews.

Erna was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Jane; four brothers; two sisters; and a granddaughter, Sandra Knight.

JOSE LUIS MARTINEZ

MASON CITY - Jose Luis Martinez, 51, of 937 N. Delaware Ave., died Monday (Dec. 18, 2000) at Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday Dec. 22, 2000, at Fullerton Funeral Home, 123 Second St. S.E., with the Rev. Dennis Cahill of Holy Family Catholic Church officiating. Interment will follow in Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until time of services on Friday at the funeral home.

Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to direct memorials to the Jose Martinez Memorial Fund.

Jose was born Aug. 19, 1949, the son of Francisco and Maria (Dalapz) Martinez in Monterrey, Mexico. Jose moved from Monterrey in the late '60s to Mason City, where he has resided ever since.

Jose could often be found enjoying the great outdoors, especially fishing. He loved helping others and spending time with his family and friends.

Jose is survived by four children, Pepe Martinez of Fort Dodge, Bernina Martinez of Fort Dodge, Maria Fisher of Clarks Grove, Minn., and Joseph Fisher of Clarks Grove, Minn.; one sister, Socorro and her husband, Philip Gonzales, of Monterrey, Mexico; five brothers, Victor Lopez of Mason City, Alonzo and his wife, Anita Martinez, of Mason City, Juanquin and his wife, Louisa Martinez, of San Antonio, Texas, Manuel and his wife, Cuca Martinez, of Houston, Texas, and Andres Martinez of Monterrey, Mexico; one grandchild; and many nieces and nephews.

DOLORES LUWAINE STINEHART

CLEAR LAKE - Dolores LuWaine Stinehart, 79, formerly of Clear Lake, died Wednesday (Dec. 20, 2000) at the IOOF Home in Mason City.

The funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Zion Lutheran Church, 112 N. Fourth St. in Clear Lake, with the Rev. Kermit Roisen officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Mason City.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today at the Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 N. Fourth St. in Clear Lake.

Memorials may be given to IOOF Home or Alzheimer's Association in memory of Dolores L. Stinehart.

Dolores was born Aug. 2, 1921, in Alexander, the daughter of Herman and Sophia (Lubkeman) Schloemer. She graduated from Latimer High School in 1939.

She married Orville E. Stinehart on Aug. 4, 1940, at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Mason City. They lived in Northwood and then moved to Clear Lake. She worked at the Coffee Shop and Young's Variety Store.

Orville and Dolores bought DeBrayn-Pugh Implement in Clear Lake and operated as Stinehart Implement, where she was the bookkeeper until their retirement in the fall of 1977. Orville and Dolores celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on Aug. 4, 2000, and their greatest enjoyment was spending time together.

She enjoyed growing and raising flowers and being around people. Dolores was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Clear Lake.

Dolores is survived by three children, Nancy Holman and her husband, Robert, of Clear Lake, Susan Stinehart, and Sally Johnson and her husband Mark, of Clear Lake; five grandchildren, Jason Allen, Eddie Allen, Brian Allen, Robert Deckard and Jameson Deckard; seven stepgrandchildren, Tracy Griffon, Brian Holman, Robert Holman, Julie Brookman, Joshua Johnson, Jeremy Johnson and Jacob Johnson.

Dolores was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Orville, who died Sept 17, 2000; and two brothers, Kenneth Schloemer and Virgil Schloemer.

LEONARD P. HELDRIDGE

MASON CITY - Leonard P. Heldridge, 96, of 302 Second St. N.E., died Thursday (Dec. 21, 2000) at the Good Shepherd Health Center.

The funeral will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave., with the Rev. Richard D. Scheerer of the First Congregational United Church of Christ officiating. Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery.

Visitation will be one hour before services on Saturday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials in his name to the First Congregational United Church of Christ.

Leonard P. Heldridge was born May 20, 1904, in Milford, the son of Frank A. and Beulah (Pillsbury) Heldridge. He was a graduate of Milford High School. He also graduated from Grinnell College in 1927.

Following his graduation from Grinnell, he worked for Roscoe Huller Manufacturing Co. in Fort Dodge.

He was united in marriage to Gladys V. Brooks on June 26, 1929, in Milford. From 1933 to 1969 he worked for Mid Continent Petroleum Co., which later became Sun Oil Co. He began his career with the company as a bulk station agent and retired on June 1, 1969, as a district manager.

He was a member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ, Rotary Club, Senior Division of the Chamber of Commerce, past member of the Elks, and a former member of Petroleum Industry Groups.

Those left to cherish his memory include one daughter, Nancy J. McGrane, of Aubrey, Texas; daughter-in-law, Mary Ann Heldridge, of Omaha, Neb.; five grandchildren, Michael Heldridge and his wife, Sandy, of Omaha, Neb., Tom Heldridge and his wife, Gayle, of Omaha, Neb., Erin Jackson and her husband, Greg, of Kansas City, Mo., Kathy Skoglund and her husband, Kent, of Aubrey, Texas, and Dr. Steve Heldridge and his wife, Sheila, of Omaha, Neb.; 10 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Gladys; son, James; and brother, Meredith.

Vincent R. Deviney was born March 1, 1908, in Waukon, the son of James J. and Margaret (O'Brien) Deviney. His family moved to Mason City in 1921 and he graduated from St. Joseph's High School. On Aug. 13, 1938, Vince was united in marriage to Helen A. Prall in New Ulm, Minn.

Vince and Helen lived at 808 N. Carolina for 58 years. He worked for Standard Oil for 44 years, retiring as an auditor in 1969.

He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church and St. Vincent's DePaul. He was active with the Senior Citizen's Center and delivered for Meals on Wheels.

Vince was an avid gardener, and also enjoyed traveling, golfing, woodworking and, especially, playing cribbage.

Left to survive him are his two daughters and their families, Dixie Sullivan and her husband, Jerry, of Fond du Lac, Wis., and Diana Krieger and her husband, Denny, of Iowa Falls; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Esther Prall Boatwright, of Osprey, Fla.; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen, in 1996; and four brothers and five sisters.

RUSSEL BERGH

OSAGE - Russel Bergh, 84, of Osage, died Wednesday (Dec. 20, 2000) at the Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa in Mason City.

The funeral will be held 1 p.m. Saturday at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, 833 Ash St. in Osage, with the Rev. Roy Ott officiating. According to his wishes, his body will be cremated following services. Inurnment will take place at Kenyon Cemetery in Kenyon, Minn., at a later date.

Visitation will be held from noon to 1 p.m. Saturday at the Church.

Russel Bergh was born July 14, 1916, in Kenyon, Minn., the youngest of nine children born to Hans E. and Berthea (Severson) Bergh, and was baptized on Nov. 12, 1916. In 1934, Russel graduated from Kenyon High School, where he excelled in playing on every football, basketball and baseball team in the Kenyon area. Sports (especially football) became a life-long interest for him.

During World War II, Russel served four years in the U.S. Navy, stationed in San Diego, Calif., and was a life-long member of the American Legion.

On Dec. 31, 1941, Russel was united in marriage to Helen E. Swelland of Kenyon. After several years, he and Helen settled in Austin, Minn., where they raised their two daughters, Mary and Beverly. Russel was employed in sales throughout his career.

In 1991, Russel and Helen celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary, surrounded by their family and friends. Their family had grown by this time to include Mary's husband, Robert and Bev's husband, Douglas, along with six grandchildren.

Left to cherish and honor his memory are two daughters, Mary and her husband, Robert Hommez, of Osage and Beverly and her husband, Douglas Frame, of Plymouth, Minn.; six grandchildren, Michael and his wife, Susan Hommez, of Mapleton, Minn., Teri and her husband, Rick Pitzen, of Dubuque, Matthew Hommez, of New City, N.Y., Nicholas Hommez, of Inver Grove Heights, Minn., Sara Frame, of Bellingham, Wash., and Eric Frame, of Plymouth, Minn.; and two great-granddaughters, Deidre Pitzen and Rebecca Hommez.

Russel was preceded in death by his wife, Helen, in 1994. Along with his parents, he was preceded by eight brothers and sisters.

HAMPTON - Dorothy M. Dohlman, 80, of Hampton, died Thursday (Dec. 21, 2000) at her home.

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the St. Peter's United Church of Christ in rural Geneva, with the Rev. Rose Hermonat officiating. Burial will be in St. Peter's Cemetery in rural Geneva.

VERN LARSON

CLEAR LAKE - Vern Larson, 85, 819 Ninth Ave. S., Clear Lake, died Thursday (Dec. 21, 2000) at his home.

The funeral will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 N. Fourth St., with Jack Musker officiating. Interment will be held at the Clear Lake Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of North Iowa in the name of Vern Larson.

Vern was born March 7, 1915, the son of Andrew and Lena (Kittleson) Larson in Clear Lake. He was baptized at the Norwegian Church in Clear Lake on Feb 10, 1924.

Vern married Phyllis Nellie Lucas on Aug. 5, 1938, in Albert Lea, Minn. Vern was a bricklayer, helping build schools, churches, libraries and other structures throughout the United States. He retired in 1980 for health reasons. In 2002 he would have been a 50-year member of the Brick Layers Union. He was a member of the Brick Layers Union, BAC No. 3, Des Moines.

Vern married Marjorie Platts on June 10, 1991, in Las Vegas, Nev. For the past six years Vern and Marjorie have served as volunteers at the Manly Care Center, visiting and dancing for the residents. He enjoyed fishing for trout and walleye all seasons of the year. He also loved dancing.

Vern is survived by his wife, Marjorie Larson, of Clear Lake; one daughter, Mary Ann Hill, of Clear Lake; two grandchildren, Sue Hill and her special friend, Mark Akers, of Clear Lake, and Randy Hill, of Clear Lake; five great-grandchildren, Christopher, Amber, Jessica, Jennifer and Steven; three brothers, Alfred Larson and his wife, Jeanyce, of Clear Lake, Roy Larson, of Clear Lake, and Merle Larson and his wife, Ruth, of Clear Lake; six stepchildren, Dennis Miller and his wife, Helen, of Bremerton, Wash., Linda Stewart and her husband, Raymond, of Romeoville, Ill., Larry Borchardt and his wife, Lee, of Prairie City, Gladys Fanny and her husband, Larry, of Hampton, Mary Muth and her husband, Dale, of Longmont, Colo., and Marlene Williams and her husband, Terry, of Lakeville, Minn.; 16 stepgrandchildren, many stepgreat-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Vern was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Phyllis (Lucas) Larson, on Aug 24, 1972; his second wife, Ideal; two sisters, Clara Mix and Florence Peters; and three brothers, Carl, Andrew (Casey) and Harry Larson.

CHARLES CITY - Donald Immel, 85, of 1003 Court St., died Tuesday (Dec. 19, 2000) at his home.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the Trinity United Methodist Church in Charles City, with the Rev. Dianne Christopher officiating. Burial will be in the Sunnyside Memory Gardens south of Charles City.

Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. today at the Hauser Funeral Home, 1205 S. Main St. in Charles City, with the family present from 5 to 8 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour before services on Saturday at the church.

GAIL WOSEPKA

MASON CITY - Gail Wosepka, 94, of 2038 Hunters Ridge Dr., Mason City, died Wed. (Dec. 20, 2000) at Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa in Mason City. She was cremated and graveside services will be held at a later date.

Gail was born July 25, 1906, in Britton, S. D., the daughter of John and Clarissa (Howe) Jones. She graduated from Britton High School and then attended nursing school in Aberdeen, S.D.

Gail married Lyle K. Wosepka and they lived in Britton and later moved to Iowa in 1946.

While they lived in Hampton, Iowa she was city clerk. She was known for her tremendous sense of humor. Gail loved to travel, play bridge, golf and loved her dog, Pepie.

She was a member of the Eastern Star Lodge in Hampton.

Gail is survived by two sons, Lyle K. Wosepka Jr., of Wilton, Calif. and Richard Wosepka, of Mason City; one daughter-in-law, Carol Wosepka, of Hampton; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lyle; three brothers, Ford, Kendrick and Vincent Jones; two sisters, Ione Worman and Gladys Ramsey; and one son, Donald.

FOREST CITY - Helen P. Davis, 85, of Forest City, died Tuesday (Dec. 19, 2000) in Yakima, Wash.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 27, at the United Methodist Church in Forest City, with the Rev. Gary Marzolf officiating.

Burial will be in the Spring at the Oakland Cemetery in Forest City.

There will be visitation one hour prior to services on Wednesday at the Church.

CLEAR LAKE - Douglas E. Loers, 52, of 1606 N. Eighth Place in Clear Lake, died Thursday (Dec. 21, 2000) at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City.

There will be no services at this time. Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave. in Mason City is in charge of arrangements.

Douglas A. Loers was born Oct. 23, 1948 in Mason City, the son of Lloyd and Patricia A. (Tott) Loers. He graduated from Mason City High School in 1967 and received a degree in Accounting from Hamilton's Business College and a B.A. from Buena Vista University.

Doug was united in marriage with Wuaneta Wilson on Aug. 25, 1981 in Las Vegas, Nev. He worked as a Safety Director for Morgan Drive Away and previously as an independent owner/operator truck driver.

Doug was a very loving husband, son and brother who enjoyed fishing, gardening and most of all traveling.

He will be missed by family and friends and they include, his wife, Wuaneta Loers, of Clear Lake; daughter, Janell Reuscher and her husband, Steve, of Clear Lake; granddaughter, Jordan Reuscher; parents, Lloyd and Patricia Loers, of Clear Lake; brother, Stephen Loers and his wife, Penny, of Clear Lake; sister, Ann Speigel and her husband, Richard, of Yakima, Wash.; five nieces and nephews.

HELEN DAVIS

FOREST CITY - Helen Davis, 85, of Forest City, died Dec. 19 at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Betty Jo and David Levad in Yakima, Wash.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 27, at First Methodist Church, Forest City. Viewing will be at the church prior to the service beginning at 10 a.m. Petersen Lund Funeral Home, 505 N. Clark, Forest City, is in charge of arrangements.

Helen Pauline Davis was born June 13, 1915, in Madelia, Minn., to Joseph and Margaret Cumberland Davies. She graduated from Madelia High School and attended South Dakota Teachers College.

She married Delton Davis in 1939.

Helen taught school, raised her children and participated in many community projects while living in Fertile. She moved to Forest City in 1959 and began a second career as secretary in the Winnebago County Engineer's office. She retired in 1977 and devoted herself to family, friends and volunteer work.

She served on the Forest City Park Board for many years and was a volunteer in Mrs. Paulson's kindergarten class, the Meals on Wheels program, the Good Samaritan Nursing Home and the First Methodist Church. She loved playing Mrs. Santa Claus for the pre-school children and entertaining the neighborhood children who came to visit her after school. She was an active member of the Methodist Church and the Kum Along Club. She was a Gold Star Mother and member of the American Legion Auxiliary.

Mrs. Davis is survived by two daughters, Betty Jo and David Levad of Yakima, Wash., and Kathy and Glen Tobey of Duluth, Minn.; a special family, Chris and Mary Juhl of Garner; 14 grandchildren, Mark, Michael, Patrick, Timothy and Sarah Levad, Diane Tim, Gina and Joseph DiConcini, Nicholas and Olivia Mancini, Thomas, Alison, Jeffrey and Molly Juhl; and seven great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister, Elizabeth Anderson of Madelia; a brother, William and Ardyce Davies of White Bear Lake, Minn.; a dear sister-in-law, Kathryn Davies, of Pine River, Minn.; and her dearest friend, Mrs. Jane Ebaugh of Forest City.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her infant sister, Dorothy; her brother, Burton Davies; and her son, Robert Davis, in Vietnam.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to early childhood programs in Forest City Public Schools or the children's section of the Forest City Public Library, in care of Petersen Lund Funeral Home.

HAROLD R. WITT

NORA SPRINGS - Harold R. Witt, 77, passed away Saturday (Dec. 23, 2000) at Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa, Mason City.

Funeral services will be held at noon Wednesday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Mason City, with the Rev. Carl Ries officiating. Burial will be at Park Cemetery, Nora Springs, with military rites performed by American Legion Post No. 449.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Sheckler Colonial Chapel in Nora Springs with a scriptural vigil service beginning at 7 p.m.

Harold was born Sept. 17, 1923, in Nora Springs, son of William and Myrtie (Pribbenow) Witt. He graduated from Nora Springs High School in 1940. On Sept. 19, 1943, he enlisted in the U. S. Navy and served as a Gunner's Mate 3rd Class on the U.S.S. Long Island. He received his honorable discharge on March 22, 1946, and then started his farming career.

He was united in marriage to Margaret Genevieve Fitzgerald on Nov. 30, 1946, at St. Joseph's rectory in Mason City. Harold was a lifetime farmer, farming together with his brother, Dale Witt, for 31 years in the Nora Springs area and worked in the winter months for Jacob E. Decker Packing Plant for several years. He moved to town in 1981 and retired from farming in 1985.

Following retirement he enjoyed working for Rethamel Construction, Marshall Farms and refinishing furniture. He enjoyed his family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He liked to travel and made several trips to various parts of the United States. He also enjoyed watching sports on television and reading Louis L' Amour books. He was a member of the American Legion Post No. 449 and past member, as well as served on the Board of Directors, of the Nora Springs Coop.

Harold is survived by his wife, Genevieve, of Nora Springs; his son Bill and his wife, Nancy, of Nora Springs; daughter, Barbara O'Donnell and her husband, Dennis, of Mason City; son Jim and his wife, Pam, of Mason City; and daughter Jolene Juhl and her husband, David, of St. Ansgar; grandchildren, Paul Witt and his wife, Heather, of South Charleston, W. V., Christie Witt of Granite Falls, Minn., Jarod Brallier and special friend, Liz French, Nick O'Dell of Mason City, Nicole Seybert and her husband, Steve, of Nora Springs, Jeremy Witt and his wife, Mary, of Mason City, Randy Juhl and his wife, Kim, of Apple Valley, Minn., Michael Juhl and special friend, Julie Hansen, of St. Ansgar; step-grandchildren, Tiffany O'Donnell and Nick O'Donnell, both of Cottonwood, Ariz.; great-grandchildren, Colin Witt, Evan Seybert, Maysen Simmer, Paisley Witt and Caitlyn Juhl; his brother, Dale Witt, of Nora Springs; sister Bonnie Billings and her husband, Jim, also of Nora Springs; and several nieces and nephews.

Harold was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Edna Hallabrin; his grandson, Jonathan Paul Juhl; his nephew, Bruce Billings; and his son-in-law, James Brallier.

PHOENIX, Ariz. - Leon Kenneth Packard, 80, of 34420 Bertha St., Black Canyon City, formerly of the Greene and Packard area, died Friday (Dec. 22, 2000) at the V. A. Medical Center in Phoenix, Ariz.

TILLIE HINRICHS

GARNER - Tillie Hinrichs, 100, died Saturday (December 23, 2000) at her home in the Prairie View Apartments.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at St. John's Lutheran Church northeast of Garner with the Rev. Carl Hedberg officiating. Burial will be in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m., Monday at Cataldo Funeral Chapel, Garner, and will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Tuesday.

Otillie Louise Hinrichs, the daughter of Carl August and Mathilda (Dorow) Boehnke was born November 15, 1900, at Garner. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church and attended St. John's Parochial School.

After receiving her L.P.N. Degree from Shenandoah Hand Hospital in Shenandoah, she worked at Hand Hospital and also did private duty nursing. Tillie worked as a nurse for Dr. C.V. Hamilton in Garner for many years.

On August 28, 1959, she was married to William H. Hinrichs at St. John's Lutheran Church northeast of Garner. In August of 1995, she moved to Prairie View Apartments from her home in Ventura. She enjoyed her family, friends, children, gardening and entertaining.

She was lifetime member of St. John's Lutheran Church, sang in the choir, was a Sunday school and vacation Bible school teacher. She also belonged to Ladies Aid, Lamplighters and the Ventura Garden Club.

She is survived by two brothers, Arthur Boehnke of Garner and the Rev. Arnold Boehnke and his wife, Alice, of Colorado Springs, Colo.; a stepson, Joel Hinrichs of California; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William H. Hinrichs, January 26, 1975; six stepsons, Donald Hinrichs, Erich Hinrichs, William L. Hinrichs, Enoch Hinrichs, Gerald Hinrichs and Allan Hinrichs; her parents, Carl and Mathilda Boehnke and four brothers, Albert A. Boehnke, Charles F. Boehnke, William G. Boehnke and Herman Boehnke.

ROY WILLIAM GALLION

MANLY - Roy William Gallion, 92, died Thursday (Dec. 21, 2000) at the Manly Nursing & Rehab Center.

Roy William Gallion was born Oct. 6, 1908, in Wheelerwood in Cerro Gordo County, the son of William V. G. and Bertha (Cookman) Gallion. He received his education in the Manly school system, graduating from Manly High School. After completing his schooling, he started farming in the Lime Creek Township, rural Cerro Gordo County.

He was united in marriage to Helen Louise Stickfort on June 22, 1930, at her parents' home in Manly. She preceded him in death on Oct. 7, 1995.

After their marriage they continued to farm for 64 years in the Lime Creek Township, rural Cerro Gordo County. Roy also herded cattle for Oswald Strand in Manly, sold seed for Funks Seed Company and was a carpenter and bricklayer.

Roy was a member of the Bethel United Methodist Church in Manly and was very active on numerous committees in the church. He also enjoyed making toys for children at the Bethel United Methodist Church through the County Cousins, a Mission organization and also helped install the stain glass windows at the church.

He served on the IOOF home baord and was a member of the Royal Blue Rebekah Lodge No. 240 for over 60 years and the Manly Camera Club. He enjoyed hunting, was a member and former treasurer of the Cerro Gordo County Farm Bureau and the Golden Wedding Club in Manly. But his is great love and enjoyment was his family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Left to cherish his memory are his children, Roberta Cooper and her husband, Merrill, of Mason City, Beatrice Smoley and her husband, Ray, of Buffalo Center, Edward Gallion and his wife, Arlene, of Manly, and Sharon Bosma and her husband, Richard, of Buffalo Center; a daughter-in-law, Patricia Miller and her husband, John, of Spencer, Wis.; 19 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; four sisters, Edna Tietz of Manly, Lucille Hoyt of Northwood, Hazel VanSteenburg and her husband, Barton, of Battle Creek, Minn., and Violet VanSteenburg of Manly; and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen; his parents; a son, Duwayne Gallion; a son-in-law, Ernest Beenken; a granddaughter, Debra Sue Johnson; and a sister, Mildred Fread.

PRISCILLA (PAT) GIORDANO-MARTIN

GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas - Priscilla (Pat) Giordano-Martin died Dec. 3, 2000, at Baylor Medical Center in Irving, Texas.

A funeral service will be held at United Methodist Church in West Union, Iowa, on Saturday, Dec. 30, at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be at Grandview Cemetery in Fayette, Iowa.

Priscilla was born Dec. 16, 1937, in West Union. She was the mother of three children: Marc J. Giordano of Carmarillo, Calif., Lisa A. Fryslie of Phoenix, Ariz., and Scott M Giordano of San Antonio, Texas, and grandmother of five grandchildren: Nathan Eichorst, Brandon and Mitchell Fryslie, and Christina and Alexander Giordano.

After graduating from Oelwein High School in 1956, she was employed as a secretary with the Department of the Navy, Washington, D.C. In 1959 she relocated to Lindenhurst Long Island, N.Y. and became a housewife and mother of her three children.

In 1963 she relocated the family back to her home state of Iowa to raise her children.

Priscilla was a 14-year resident of Mason City and was a long-time member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Unity Chapter No. 58, holding the position of Worthy Matron in 1979.

She was employed as an insurance analyst at Archon Group, Irving, Texas.

Priscilla enjoyed the company of family and friends and had an infectious laugh and a beautiful smile. She will be missed dearly by all that knew her.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Marjorie C. Snively on Dec. 29, 1999; her stepfather, Cecil E. Snively on May 28, 2000; and her father, Frank G. Moulton.

BUFFALO CENTER - Heiko Bosma, 92, died Saturday (Dec. 23, 2000) at his home in Buffalo Center.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at First Congregational Church, Buffalo Center, with the Rev. David Langer officiating. Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery.

MASON CITY - Vivian A. Olson Patterson, 79, died Friday (Dec. 22, 2000) at Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa, Mason City.

A funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Holy Family Catholic Church, 714 N. Adams, Mason City, with the Rev. Dennis Cahill officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Hwy 18 West, Mason City.

Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Hogan-Bremer Colonial Chapel, 126 Third St. N.E., Mason City. A public scriptural prayer service will begin at 6 p.m. Tuesday.

The family of Vivian A. Olson Patterson has requested that memorial contributions be made to the Holy Family Catholic Church in Mason City in her memory.

Vivian A. Olson Patterson was born on March 15, 1921, the daughter of Gilbert T. and Josephine (Olson) Knutson in Sherman, Hardin County, Iowa. She received her education in the Mason City school system, graduating from Mason City High School. She also attended Hamilton Business College and North Iowa Area Community College in Mason City.

Vivian's working days were as a bookkeeper in Mason City, a bank in Bremerton, Wash., and Camp Haan, Riverside, Calif.

She was united in marriage to George F. Olson on Aug. 14, 1942, in Bremerton, Wash. He preceded her in death on May 15, 1982.

Vivian was a very active member of many organizations throughout her lifetime. She was active in the Sorosis Study Club, PEO Chapter KX, a lifetime member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and Woman's Club. She also served on the YWCA board for three years. She taught Sunday school in Mason City and Omaha before her first marriage, and when the children were young, she served as secretary of the congregation of Trinity Lutheran Church for one year.

Vivian was united in marriage to Stanley J. Patterson on Nov. 17, 1990.

She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Mason City.

Left to cherish her memory is her husband, Stanley J. Patterson, of Mason City; a daughter, Sharon Mortimer and her husband, Peter, of Short Hills, N. J.; a son Steven P. Olson and his wife, Teri, of Belfair, Wash.; seven grandchildren, Kate, Trever and Peter Mortimer, and Joshua, Michael, Dustin and Julie Olson; stepson, S. James Patterson and his wife, Mary; three step-grandchildren, Stephen, David and Abigail; a brother, Gilman Knutson of Wyoming, Minn.; and other relatives and friends.

Vivian was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, George F. Olson; two sons, Robert and Richard Olson; and a stepdaughter, Patricia Ann Patterson.
