** Gayle Jean Evans

MASON CITY — Gayle Jean Evans, 52, of 1121 Third St. S.W., died Monday (Sept. 28, 1998) at her home.

Her body was cremated. A Memorial Mass will be held at noon on Friday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 302 Fifth St. S.E., with the Rev. Michael Schueller officiating. Inurnment will be in Elmwood St. Joseph Cemetery.

Her family will greet friends starting at 5 p.m. today at Hogan Bremer Colonial Chapel, 126 Third St. N.E., with a rosary beginning at 6:30 p.m., followed by a scriptural prayer service beginning at 7 p.m.

Memorials may be made in memory of Gayle Jean Evans to Hospice of North Iowa, Mason City Head Start Program, or to the Covenant House, 346 West 17th St., New York, N.Y., 10011-5002.

Gayle Jean Evans was born on Nov. 14, 1945, in Des Moines, daughter of Wayne L. and Nathalie Jean (Freeman) Boatwright. She married Donald D. Evans on April 8, 1967, in Des Moines.

Gayle grew up in Des Moines and graduated from North High School in 1963. She attended Grandview College in Des Moines and later graduated from North Iowa Area Community College, Mason City, and then attended Buena Vista College, majoring in finance.

For the past 20 years, she served as manager and CEO of Mercy Family Credit Union, Mason City. Nine years ago, she achieved the Certified Credit Union Executive status and this year she received the State Heritage Award.

Gayle was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She enjoyed reading, playing tennis, skiing and camping. She loved the change of seasons.

She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, the International Certified Credit Executive Association. She was past president of North Iowa Chapter of Credit Unions and was a member of the State Board of Directors of Iowa Credit Union League.

Survivors include her husband, Donald D. Evans, of Mason City; three children, April C. Goldsmith, of Klemme, Donald D. Evans II, of Humboldt; and Christopher E. Evans, of Waterloo; five grandchildren, David Olin, Hunter Ryan, and Rachael Nathalie Goldsmith, all of Klemme; Kendall Elizabeth Evans, of Humboldt, and William Dean Evans, of Waterloo; six brothers and sisters, Christine B. Halsten, of Urbandale; Nicholas W. Boatwright, Wayne A. Boatwright, Mark M. Boatwright, Alice M. Bossuet and Theresa M. Madonia, all of Des Moines; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and one brother, Stephen L. Boatwright.

** Alma E. Kling

OSAGE — Alma E. Kling, 89, of Osage, died Wednesday (Sept. 30, 1998) at the Faith Home in Osage.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Rock Creek Lutheran Church, rural Osage, with the Rev. R. Dawson Tornes officiating. Burial will be in Rock Creek Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 5:30 to 9 p.m. at the Champion Funeral Home, Osage.

Alma E. Kling was born Aug. 24, 1909 on the family farm in Rudd Township, Floyd County.

Survivors include one son, Norman Kling, of Rudd; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and one brother, Obert Nelson, of Osage.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and one son.

** Glen R. ‘Hank’ Maxson

GREENE — Funeral services for Greene businessman, Glen R. "Hank" Maxson, 82, of 402 E. Traer, will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 2, 1998, at the United Methodist Church, Greene, with Pastor Gene Burry and Pastor Lane Kittleson officiating. Burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 3 to 8 p.m. today at Reid’s Funeral Chapel, in Greene, where the family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour prior to services at the church.

Glen Richardson Maxson was born April 29, 1916, in Greene, the son of Earl and Doris (Fiddick) Maxson, and died Wednesday (Sept. 30, 1998) at his home in Greene of cancer.

On April 20, 1939, he was united in marriage to Sarah Isadore Hardman at the Methodist Parsonage in Charles City. To this union were born two children, Michael and Susan.

Glen was a graduate of the Greene High School. He raised turkeys and farmed from 1944 to 1945. The following year, he became an employee of the Frudden Lumber Company. In 1950, he became co-owner of Maxson Frudden Lumber Company, from which he retired in 1969.

He was an active member of the United Methodist Church, in Greene, a member of the Greene Commercial Club, Quarterback Club, and Round Grove Gold and Country Club. His interests included golf, trout fishing, working in his yard and gardening.

Living family members include one son, Michael and his wife, Paulette, of Greene; and one daughter, Susan Maxson, of Allenspork, Colo.; one sister, Beth Johnson, of Waterloo; one brother, Dale Maxson, of Fayette; two sisters-in-law, Florence Maxson and Ceil Maxson, both of Greene; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Isadore on March 23, 1998; parents; and two brothers, Lyle Maxson and Lowell "Hop" Maxson.

Those planning an expression of sympathy may direct memorials to the Glen R. "Hank" Maxson Memorial Fund in care of the family.

** Mildred G. Campbell

CLARION — Mildred G. Campbell, 89, of Clarion, died Tuesday (Sept. 29, 1998) at the Community Memorial Hospital in Clarion.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the First Lutheran Church, Clarion, with the Rev. Gary Boen officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery, Clarion.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the Willim Funeral Home, Clarion.

Mildred Genevieve Tveit was born on Jan. 31, 1908 on a farm near Eagle Grove.

Survivors include her husband, two grandsons; six great-grandchildren; and a sister, Beatrice Nielsen, of Eagle Grove.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, one brother, and one daughter.

** Ralph Donald Taylor

ALGONA — Ralph Donald Taylor, 71, of 1017 E. Call St., died Wednesday (Sept. 30, 1998) at the Algona Manor Care Center.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Good Hope United Methodist Church, rural Lone Rock, with the Rev. Susan Thomas officiating. Burial will be in the Union Township Cemetery, with a flag presentation by the V.F.W. Post #2541 and the American Legion Hagg-Turner Post No. 90, Algona.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the Garry-Roberts-Murphy-Schaaf Funeral Home, Algona.

Ralph Donald Taylor was born July 10, 1927, in Algona.

Survivors include his wife, Evelyn Taylor, of Algona; two sons, Mark Taylor, of Stockton, Calif., and James Taylor, of Titonka; two daughters, Barbara Johansen, of Waukee, and Beverly Sullivan, of Norwalk; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother in infancy.

GARNER — Dorothy Hampel, 82, of Garner, died Wednesday (Sept. 30, 1998) at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, Minn.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Zion Evangelical and Reformed Church, with the Rev. Darrell Weber officiating. Interment will be in Concord Township Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Cataldo Funeral Chapel, Garner, where other arrangements are incomplete.

** Warren C. Peterson

MASON CITY — Warren C. Peterson, 87, of 1210 Sixth St. S.W., died Thursday (Oct. 1, 1998) at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Trinity Lutheran Church, 213 N. Pennsylvania Ave.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave., and one hour prior to services on Monday at the church.

Other arrangements are incomplete at the Major Erickson Funeral Home.

** Rev. Kenneth H. Ubbelohde

CLEAR LAKE — The Rev. Kenneth H. Ubbelohde, 79, of 307 N. Shore Dr., died Wednesday (Sept. 30, 1998) in Miami, Ariz.

He was cremated and memorial services will be held at a later time.

** Clarence ‘Mike’ Mickelson

BELMOND — Clarence "Mike" Mickelson, 78, of Belmond, died Thursday (Oct. 1, 1998) at the Belmond Community Hospital.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Belmond, with Father Jack Paisley officiating. Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 2 to 9 p.m. today at the Dugger Ewing Funeral Home, with a parish rosary at 2:30 p.m. and a scriptural wake service at 7 p.m. There will be additional visitation one hour prior to services at the church.

** Phillip MacMillan James

ST. PAUL, Minn. — Phillip MacMillan James, 61, formerly of Mason City, died on Monday (Sept. 28, 1998) in St. Paul.

Phil had suffered a sudden renal hemorrhage at his studios and despite the excellent medical care that was provided to him over a four-week period at St. Joseph’s Hospital, he was unable to recover.

A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 3, 1998, at Christ Presbyterian Church, Highway 100 and 70th St., in Edina, Minn.

Phillip’s ashes will be interred at Elmwood Cemetery, Mason City, after a private family service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Minneapolis Institute of Arts, Ted Hartwell, Curator of Photography.

He was born May 27, 1937, in Mason City.

Phil attended the University of Iowa and was a graduate of the School of Architecture at the University of Minnesota.

Phil will be remembered for his award winning work as an architectural photographer. His clients included many nationally-recognized architects, advertising agencies, and Fortune 500 corporations. His work appeared in dozens of home interior and architectural magazines and also illustrated the annual reports of many of this country’s leading corporations.

Phil is survived by his parents, Thomas Farnham and Frances MacMillan James, of Little Rock, Ark.; his brothers, Douglas Murdoch James and Robert Raymond James, of Edina, Minn.; Charles William James, of Wayzata, Minn.; Thomas MacMillan James, of Little Rock; and his sister, Judith James Scherer, of Little Rock; and by his many special nieces, nephews, and his great friends.

** Mildred L. Baldwin

HAMPTON — Mildred L. Baldwin, 86, died Wednesday (Sept. 30, 1998) at Franklin General Hospital in Hampton.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Church of Christ, Hampton, with the Rev. David Nelson officiating. Burial will take place in Hampton Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the Sietsema-Vogel Funeral Home, Hampton.

Mildred L. Baldwin was born June 2, 1912, in Franklin County.

She is survived by two daughters, Vicky Riebkes, Latimer, and LaDonna Heckrodt, Nashua; a sister, Dorothy Ulrich, Iowa Falls; and four grandchildren.

Mildred was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, six brothers, six sisters, and two grandsons.

** Cora Hazel Rustad

DEER RIVER, Minn. — Coral Hazel Rusatd, 85, of Deer River, Minn., died on Wednesday (Sept. 30, 1998) at Naeve Hospital, Albert Lea, Minn.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 3, 1998, at the First Shell Rock Lutheran Church, Northwood, with the Rev. Alf Merseth officiating. Burial will be at the Sunset Rest Cemetery, Northwood.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Schroeder & Sites Funeral Home, Northwood.

Cora was born the 15th day of April 1913, to Henry and Inger (Ferley) Hanson in Hartland Township, Northwood.

She was baptized on May 18, 1913 at Silver Lake Lutheran Church, Northwood. Cora was confirmed on May 8, 1927 at Shell Rock Lutheran Church, Northwood.

She attended schools in Northwood and Gordonsville, Minn.

On Aug. 27, 1939, Cora was united in marriage to Leland Rustad at the First Lutheran Church, Northwood. Cora worked in Seattle at Boeing Aircraft and later was self-employed.

She lived in Deer River, until transferring to Good Samaritan Home in Albert Lea.

Cora loved her grandchildren and family. She also loved flowers and having friends in for coffee.

Cora is survived by one son, Ronnie Rustad, of Ester, Alaska; two grandchildren, Scott Rustad, of Deer River, Minn., and Patricia Rustad, of Minneapolis; and one great-grandson, Tyler.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, four sisters, and two brothers.

** Robert Dudley ‘Bob’ Bishop

RUDD — Robert Dudley "Bob" Bishop, 74, formerly of Rudd, died Wednesday (Sept. 30, 1998) at Nora Springs Care Center, following a lengthy illness.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Nora Springs First Christian Church, with the Rev. Greg Lugn officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Rudd, with military honors conducted by the Nora Springs American Legion.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Sheckler Colonial Chapel, 114 N. Hawkeye St., Nora Springs, and will continue one hour prior to services on Saturday at the church.

Robert Dudley Bishop was born Dec. 22, 1923, in rural Rudd, son of Sereno E. "Reno" and Gladys E. (Allen) Bishop. He graduated from Rudd High School in 1942.

Bob served in the Army in Korea, where he was a military policeman, a cook and an electrician. He was a 4-H member and received awards for the showing of hogs at the 4-H Achievement Show in Charles City. While in high school, he was the fastest reader in the "Speed Reading" course. Later he attended a school for electricity and radio. Following a correspondence course in Taxidermy, he enjoyed it as a hobby. He had poems and short stories published in the Cappers Weekly and also in their books about pioneers.

While attending the Methodist Church in Rudd, he taught Sunday School, completed a "Layman’s Study and Speaking Class," and later taught this class. With all these activities, he also farmed west of Rudd for over 40 years.

Bob married Grace Hinders on Aug. 25, 1957, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. They adopted a son, William Lewis Bishop. Bob enjoyed hunting and fishing with family and friends.

Survivors include one son, William "Bill" Bishop and his wife, Kellie, of Orrum, N.C.; five grandchildren, Amber Bishop, of Toledo; Allan and Jeremy Collins, and Shawn and Matthew Bishop, all of Osage; three stepgrandchildren, Shayne, Melissa and Katie Hanson, all of Orrum, N.C.; two sisters, Mary Betty Waters, of Nora Springs Care Center, and Ruth Waters and her husband, Charley, of Nora Springs; one brother, Carroll Bishop and his wife, Joyce, of Osage; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Grace, in 1991; his mother, in 1975; his father in 1979; a brother, David, in 1983; a brother-in-law, Richard Eli Waters, in 1997; and both his maternal and paternal grandparents.

** Dorothy Hampel

GARNER — Dorothy Hampel, 82, of Garner, died Wednesday (Sept. 30, 1998) at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, Minn.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Zion Evangelical and Reformed Church, with the Rev. Darrell Weber officiating. Interment will be in Concord Township Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the Cataldo Funeral Chapel, 160 E. Fourth St., Garner.

Dorothy Esther Hampel, the daughter of William L. and Reka Christina (Goll) Haberkamp was born May 11, 1916, at Garner.

She attended school at Garner, graduating in 1933. After receiving her Normal Teaching Certificate, she taught in a rural school near Garner for three years.

On Nov. 28, 1936, she was married to Arnold "Bub" Hampel in Garner. They made their home in Garner.

In 1945, she began working for Northwestern Bell Telephone Company in Garner. After moving to Clear Lake in 1963, she continued to work for Northwestern Bell as a PBX instructor in Mason City, retiring in 1981.

In 1983, they returned to Garner and built their retirement home. Dorothy enjoyed quilting, knitting, golfing, flower arranging and gardening.

She was a member of Zion Evangelical & Reformed Church where she taught Bible School, Woman’s Fellowship and was a life member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary, American Legion Auxiliary and the D.A.V. Auxiliary.

She was also a member of the Knit & Pearl Club, Telephone Pioneers, Ventura Federated Garden Club and a former member of the Sweet Adelines and Toastmaster’s Club.

She is survived by her husband, Arnold "Bub" Hampel, of Garner, currently residing at Good Shepherd Care Center in Mason City; four children, Bill Hampel and his wife, Minnie, of Denver, Colo.; Kay Griffith and her husband, Michael, of Oxford, Ohio; Patricia Hampel, of Boulder, Colo.; and Elizabeth DenHartog and her husband, Michael, of Clear Lake; 10 grandchildren, David Hampel, Walter Hampel, Serena Eads, Cameron Griffith, Laura Austin, Arian Hampel, Elise Chapman, Daman DenHartog, Neal DenHartog and Kelsey DenHartog; two great-grandchildren, Christie Lynn Hampel and Kayla Hampel; and four sisters, Stella Hase, of Odebolt, Frances Revland, of Garner, Lyda Swanson, of Klemme and Margaret Rutz, of Garner; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Barbara Hampel; her parents; and a brother, Clarence Haberkamp.

** Mary "Marydoll" Coburn

MASON CITY — Mary "Marydoll" Coburn, 44, of 718 N. Tennessee Pl., died Wednesday (Sept. 30, 1998) at Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City.

** Mary "Marydoll" Coburn

MASON CITY — Mary "Marydoll" Coburn, 44, of 718 N. Tennessee Pl., died Wednesday (Sept. 30, 1998) at Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City.

A celebration of Mary's life will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 10, 1998, at the Rudd United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Deborah Stowers officiating. Her body was cremated.

Other arrangements are incomplete at Hogan-Bremer Colonial Chapel, 126 Third St. N.E., Mason City.

** Paul Heilskov Jr.

MASON CITY — Paul Heilskov Jr., 59, of Mason City, died Friday (Oct. 2, 1998) at his home in Mason City.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. John's Lutheran Church, rural Hampton, with the Rev. Louise Stromberg, officiating. Interment will be in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, rural Hampton.

Visitation will be held from 1 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the Sietsema-Vogel Funeral Home, Hampton.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of North Iowa or St. John's Lutheran Church, in rural Hampton.

Paul Heilskov Jr. was born Dec. 2, 1938, in Hampton to Paul Heilskov Sr. and Eva (Simonsen) Heilskov. He graduated in 1957 from the Hansell High School. He attended Gradview College in Des Moines and Iowa State University in Ames.

He married Clara Epple on June 24, 1964, in Montrose, Minn. Later the marriage ended in divorce. Then he was married to Jane Brandt on July 11, 1987, in Nashua.

He was a farmer and an auctioneer. Paul was a graduate and an instructor at Raisch College of Auctioneering. Paul built the Hampton Sale Barn when he was 21 years old. He was a auctioneer at North Star Auto in Shakopee, Minn. for 27 years and Central States Auto for 20 years. He enjoyed doing farm auctions and enjoyed his livestock.

He is a member of St. John's Lutheran Church.

Survivors include his wife, Jane Heilskov, of Mason City; three daughters, Mrs. Mike (Julie) Willms, of Mason City; Mrs. Scott (Becky) Heilskov-Miller, of Mason City; and Jodie Heilskov, of Omaha, Neb.; two sisters, Mrs. Robert (Sena) Ahrens, of Hollandale, Wis.; and , Mrs. Charles (Agnes) Allinson, of Hampton; one brother, Kenny Heilskov, of Ankeny; his mother, Eva Heilskov, of Hampton; grandchildren, Ashley, Emily, and Kyle Willms and Sydney Miller, of Mason City; stepdaughter, Molly Brandt; stepson, Jeffrey Brandt, of Mason City.

He was preceded in death by his father.

** Bernard 'Craig' Tierney

LANDSDALE, Pa. — Bernard "Craig" Tierney, 68, died Friday (Sept. 11, 1998) suddenly, after a courageous battle with cancer.

A funeral Mass was held Tuesday, Sept. 15, at St. Stanislaus Church, E. Main St. and Lansdale Ave., Lansdale, P.A. Interment took place at St. John Neumann Cemetery, Chalfont.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Craig's name may be directed to St. Stanislaus Memorial Fund, E. Main St. and Lansdale Ave., Lansdale, Pa. 19446.

Bernard "Craig" Tierney was born March 30, 1930, in Mason City, to Gwen and Bernard Tierney. He was raised in Mason City. In September, of 1997, he attended his 50th class reunion with the Holy Family Class of 1947.

He was General Manager of Alliant Tech Systems (formerly Honeywell) until his retirement in 1994.

He served in the U.S. Navy from 1948 to 1955 including combat in Korea. He received his bachelor of science degree from Iowa State in 1959 and did graduate studies at the University of Minnesota.

Craig served on the Board of Directors of Pennsylvania Free Enterprise Week (PFEW) for many years and his favorite hobby was being captain of the 'Kelli' on the Chesapeake Bay.

Bernard will sadly missed by his beloved wife, Rosemary (nee Smith) and his loving children, Michael (Sandy), Brian, Patricia Lopata (Anthony), Laura Kurzinski (Brad), Shawn, Suzanne Gula (Dave); his stepchildren, Jennifer and Kevin Rice; his sister, Marilyn Colleran and her children; and his mother, Gwen Whitehead and her husband, Winston.

He was preceded in death by his father, Bernard Tierney.

He was a 4-H member receiving awards for the showing of hogs at the 4-H Achievement Show in Charles City. While in High School, he was the fastest reader in the "Speed Reading" course. Later he attended a school for electricity and radio. Following a correspondence course in Taxidermy, he enjoyed it as a hobby. He had poems and short stories published in the Cappers Weekly and also in their books about Pioneers.

While attending the Methodist Church in Rudd, he taught Sunday School, completed a "Layman's Study and Speaking Class," and later taught this class. With all these activities, he also farmed west of Rudd for over 40 years.

Bob married Grace Hinders on Aug. 25, 1957, at the Little Brown Church, in Nashua. They adopted a son, William Lewis Bishop. Bob enjoyed hunting and fishing with family and friends.

Survivors include one son, William "Bill" Bishop and his wife, Kellie, of Orrum, N.C.; five grandchildren, Amber Bishop, of Toledo; Allan and Jeremy Collins, and Shawn and Matthew Bishop, all of Osage; three stepgrandchildren, Shayne, Melissa and Katie Hansen, all of Orrum, N.C.; two sisters, Mary Betty Waters, of Nora Springs Care Center, and Ruth Waters and her husband, Charley, of Nora Springs; one brother, Carroll Bishop and his wife, Joyce, of Osage; and many nieces, nephews and friends; one sister-in-law, Esther Bishop, of Cedar Falls.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Grace, in 1991; his mother, in 1975; his father in 1979; a brother, David, in 1983; a brother-in-law, Richard Eli Waters, in 1997; and both his maternal and paternal grandparents.

Phil had suffered a sudden renal hemorrhage at his studios and despite the excellent medical care that was provided to him over a four-week period at St. Joseph's Hospital, he was unable to recover.

A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held at 2 p.m. today, Oct. 3, 1998, at Christ Presbyterian Church, Highway 100 and 70th St., in Edina, Minn.

Phillip's ashes will be interred at Elmwood Cemetery, Mason City, after a private family service.

Warren was born May 13, 1911 in Grant Township, Cerro Gordo County, the son of Charles and Mabel (Warren) Peterson. He attended country schools in the North Iowa area and graduated from Thornton High School.

Warren married Clara Kofoed Oct. 25, 1936, in Rockwell.

Warren worked in sales for Hathorn Motor Parts and later Sieg Automotive Supplies for around 40 years retiring in 1986.

He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, where he ushered for many years. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, card games with his family and spending time with his grandchildren.

Warren is survived by his wife, Clara, of Mason City; daughter, Dixie Bast and her husband, John, of Mason City; son, Raymond Peterson and his wife, Carol, of Omaha, Neb.; two grandchildren, Lori Neel and her husband, David, of Mason City; and Michael Peterson and his wife, Cassie, of Centerville; two great-grandchildren, Morgan and Austin Peterson.

Warren is preceded in death by his parents; one brother in infancy; and two cousins who were raised by Warren's parents.

In 1969, the family moved to Clinton, where he was employed by the Union Carbide Company retiring in 1983. They moved to Mitchell, Iowa in 1990. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Vesta G. Pearce, the daughter of Charles A. and Sadie Ellen (Woody) Mills, was born Nov. 24, 1907, near Effingham, Ill. At an early age she moved with her family to the Britt-Corwith area. She graduated from Corwith High School in 1926. On Jan. 28, 1929, she was married to Lyle Keith Pearce at the Congregational parsonage in Britt. They made their home in Britt the rest of their lives. In the early 1950s, Vesta started her own business in Britt, named Pearce's Flowers, which she operated until she retired in 1972.

She is survived by her sister, Ione McPhillips of Britt; and six nieces, Beth McConnell and her husband, John, of Grand Island, Neb., Lynne Petersen and her husband, Douglas, of Swaledale, Joanne Nelson and her husband, Terry, of Madison Lake, Minn., Jane McPhillips and her husband, Paul Sweet, of Des Moines, Raye Eyrich and her husband, Ron, of Minneapolis, Minn., and Patty Wanned of Sioux City.
