STACYVILLE _ Timothy John Stolzenberg, 40, of Topeka, Kansas, formerly of Stacyville, died Saturday (Aug. 30, 1997) in Topeka.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Visitation Catholic Church with the Rev. Joseph Schneider officiating. Burial will be in Visitation Cemetery.

Visitation will begin at 3 p.m. Wednesday at the church with a scripture wake service at 7:30 p.m.

Champion funeral home in Osage is in charge of arrangements.

Timothy was born June 5, 1957 at Osage, the son of Sylvester and Margaret (Halbach) Stolzenberg. He attended grade school at Stacyville and graduated from St. Ansgar High School in 1975. He was employed for a number of years by IBM in Rochester, Minn. and Houston, Texas. He then moved to Topeka where he worked as a telecommunications installer. Timothy was a race fan and enjoyed racing his Super Stock drag racing car. He also enjoyed stocking his private pond with game fish and then fishing for them.

Survivors include his mother, Margaret Stolzenberg of Stacyville; four sisters, Carla Meyerhofer and her husband, Bill, of Chapel Hill, N.C.; Rosalee Lowe and her husband, James, of Stacyville; Mary Kreitlow of Seymour, Conn.; and Marjean Kramer and her husband, James, of Orchard; one brother, Tom Stolzenberg, and his wife, Kathy, of Lake City; a special friend, Amii Collins, and her son, Dustin, of Topeka; 16 nieces and nephews, seven grand-nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Sylvester Stolzenberg, grandparents, one nephew, and one brother-in-law.


Demetra T. "Tula" Mataloni

MASON CITY _ Demetra T. "Tula" Mataloni, 69, of 722 North Van Buren, Mason City, died Sunday (Aug. 31, 1997) at Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete at Hogan Bremer Colonial Chapel, 126 Third St. N.E.


MASON CITY _ Helen Grace Sinclair, 86, 1000 N. Eisenhower Ave., died Sunday (Aug. 31, 1997) at home.

Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Wayside Chapel, First United Methodist Church, 119 S. Georgia, with the Rev. Douglas Anderson officiating. Interment will be in Greene Cemetery, Greene. There will be no visitation.

Memorials may be given to Hospice of North Iowa or First United Methodist Church in memory of Helen G. Sinclair.

Helen was born Feb. 24, 1911 at Superior, Wis., the daughter of Clarence and Belle (Scott) Grace. She graduated form Superior, Wis. high school and attended Teachers College in Superior. She also attended the University of California at Berkley. She was married to Dr. Luke R. Sinclair on Oct. 4, 1941 in Superior, Wis. They lived in Fort Collins, Colo.; College Park, Md.; Tingo Maria Peru, S. America; Congers, NY; San Mateo, Calif.; Ames; Fort Dodge; Prescott, Ariz.; and she moved to Mason City in 1992.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Ruth Circle, the Audubon Society, the Ames Rock and Mineral Club and the Prescott Rock and Mineral Club.

Survivors include one son, Douglas Sinclair, and wife, Linda, of Charles City; four grandchildren; Brent Sinclair, and his wife, Rachel, of Ames, Scott Sinclair of Ames, Rebecca Sinclair of Charles City, and Sarah Sinclair of Charles City; and two sisters, Zoa Stephenson and husband Conrad of Duluth, Minn. and Cornelia Todd, San Mateo, Calif.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Luke; and brother-in-law, A. Ruric Todd.

Genevieve C. Fulghum

MASON CITY _ Genevieve C. Fulghum, 97, of 1037 19th St. S.W., died Saturday (Aug. 30, 1997) at I.O.O.F. Home.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at First Christian Church, Clear Lake, with the Rev. Larry Squier officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave., and at the church one hour prior to the service on Tuesday.

Memorials may be given to the Genevieve C. Fulghum memorial fund.

Genevieve was born Oct. 4, 1899 in Sheffield, the daughter of Albert and Frances (Green) Phipps. She graduated from Mason City High School in 1919. Genevieve married Willard S. Fulghum on May 7, 1920 in the Little Brown Church, Nashua. Willard died in 1955. Genevieve was a lifelong resident of the North Iowa area moving to Mason City in 1983 from Lincoln Township. Genevieve was a member of the First Christian Church in Clear Lake, an associate member of Trinity Lutheran Church, a 4-H leader and served on the local extension council. She enjoyed gardening and sewing.

Survivors include one daughter, Mary Pearson and her husband, Arnie, of Mason City; two sons, Willard Fulghum, and his wife, Charlotte, of Mason City; and Russell Fulghum, and his wife, Lois, of Clear Lake; five grandchildren, David Fulghum, Joanne Schumacher, Janiece Ehler, Eddie and Francis Long; seven stepgrandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Francis Justin Fulghum in 1929; husband, Willard in 1955; one sister, Alberta in 1983; one grandson, Marion Francis Long in 1945; and one great-grandson, Kenneth Grant Long in 1988.

Loretta M. Andon

TACOMA, Wash. _ Loretta M. Andon, 97, formerly of Mason City, died Friday (Aug. 29, 1997) at Orchard Park Nursing Home, Tacoma, Wash.

Graveside services have been tentatively set for 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Elmwood Cemetery, Mason City.

Other arrangements are incomplete at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave., Mason City.

Clarence Mrachek

CHARLES CITY _ Clarence Mrachek, 76, a resident of 106 16th Ave., died Sunday (Aug. 31, 1997) at Floyd County Memorial Hospital.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with the Rev. Stanley J. Hayek officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery at Charles City.

Friends may call from noon to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Hauser Funeral Home. The St. Anthony Circle will recite the Rosary at 3 p.m., and there will be a parish Vigil Scriptural Wake Service at 7:30 p.m.

Visitation will continue at the church one hour prior to the Mass.

Clarence Joseph Mrachek was born Jan. 21, 1921 in Chickasaw County.

Survivors include his wife, Evelyn of Charles City; a son Jerry Mrachek of Charles City; a daughter, Sharon Heise of Charles City; two sisters, Gladys Kostka of Mason City and Grace Lienhard of Cresco; four grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, a grandson and a brother.

Paul Caspersen

ROCKWELL _ Paul Caspersen, 99, formerly of 12 Maple St. East, died Saturday (Aug. 30, 1997) at Rockwell Community Nursing Home.

A funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, with the Rev. Stephen L. Meyer officiating. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery in Rockford.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. today, with a scripture service at 7 p.m. at Fullerton Funeral Home, 120 Third St. South.

Paul was born March 22, 1898 the son of Thomas and Johanna (Siewertsen) Caspersen in Rock Falls. Paul was united in marriage to Mary O_Rourke on Sept. 4, 1923 in Rockford. Paul attended Hamilton Business College, then the couple started to farm near Nora Springs and later in the Cartersville area until they retired in 1966. The couple remained on the farm until 1984 when they decided to move to Rockwell.

Paul enjoyed hunting pheasants, playing cards in various card clubs over the years and dancing whenever possible.

Paul was a member of the St. John_s Parish in Cartersville and later a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Rockwell.

Paul is survived by one daughter, Phyllis Wickwire of Rockwell; two sons, Louis and his wife, Cecelia Caspersen of Houston, Texas, and Leon and his wife, Irene Caspersen of Clear Lake, 20 grandchildren; and 32 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mary in 1988; two daughters, Mercedes Doolan and Marian (Ashland) Grimm; one sister, Alma Paulus; a twin brother in infancy; and a brother, Emil Caspersen.

Wilma C. Peterson

CLARION _ Wilma C. Peterson, 89, of Clarion, died Sunday (August 31, 1997) at New Brighton, Minn.

Services are pending at Willim Funeral Home, Clarion.

Survivors include one son, John of New Brighton, Minn.

Lillian C. Brooker

OTTUMWA _ Lillian C. Brooker, 92, formerly of 5 Carter Court Lane, died at 8:35 p.m. Aug. 28, 1997, at the Vista Woods Care Center, Ottumwa.

Graveside services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 4, 1997, at the Rose Hill Cemetery, Thompson, with the Rev. Gary Marzolf of the Forest City United Methodist Church officiating.

Visitation will begin after 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Reece Funeral Home, 607 E. Second St., Ottumwa. The family visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with an 8 p.m. prayer service with the Rev. Lon Lewis of the First United Methodist Church officiating.

Memorials may be given to the Thompson United Methodist Church in Thompson or the First United Methodist Church in Ottumwa.

She was born July 25, 1905, near Rockford, to Otto and Clara Wallbaum Kock.

She married Herman E. deBuhr in 1925. He preceded her in death.

She married Charles F. Booker on Nov. 25, 1937. He also preceded her in death.

She and Mr. Brooker farmed in the Thompson, Iowa, area until 1968. She was a graduate of Rockford High School and had also lived in Fairmont, Minn., Forest City and Ottumwa.

She had served as Worthy Matron and was a 50-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star and was currently a member of Unity Chapter #580 O.E.S.

She was a former member of the Thompson United Methodist Church, Ottumwa.

She is survived by one son, Harold deBuhr of Ottumwa; two grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one sister, Irene Carrott, of Clear Lake, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her parents, first husband, second husband, one sister, Esther Kock, and one brother, George Kock.

OSAGE _ Ralph Lesch, 88, of Osage, died Monday (Sept. 1, 1997) at North Iowa Mercy Health Center East.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete at the Champion Funeral Home, Osage.

Melvin Theodore Baas

ALGONA _ Melvin Theodore Baas, 74, of 1921 Irvington Road, Algona, died Sunday (Aug. 31, 1997) at the Kossuth Regional Health Center.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Trinity Lutheran Church, Algona, with the Rev. Steve Turner and the Rev. Doug Hoag officiating. Burial will be in the Riverview Cemetery, with military rites by the V.F.W. and the American Legion.

Visitation will be held at 2 p.m. today at the Geilenfeld-Murphy-Schaaf Funeral Home, Algona, and after 9 a.m. on Wednesday at the church.

Melvin Theodore Baas was born Nov. 5, 1922, at Whittemore.

Survivors include his wife, Rose Baas, Algona; 13 children, Lavonne Richter, Toledo; Russell Baas, Bamberg, Germany; Ronald Baas, Clarion; Roger Baas, Sac City; Carol Menke, Bancroft; Kenneth Baas, Council Bluffs; Mavis Black, Algona; Marcia Metzen, Algona; Laura Olson, Fort Dodge; Sandra Menke, Algona; Edward Baas, Cedar Rapids; Wanda Baas, Circle Pine, Minn.; and Judy Baas, of Algona; 30 grandchildren; and one sister, Marjorie Leek, of Toledo.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, two brothers and one grandson.

Ruth Barnett

DUMONT _ Ruth Barnett, 93, of Dumont, died Monday (Sept. 1, 1997) at the Dumont Care Center.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Bennezette Wesleyan Church, rural Aredale, with the Rev. Rod Griffin and the Rev. Doug Swarthou officiating. Burial will be in the Dumont Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Sietsema-Vogel Funeral Home.

Ruth Barnett was born April 27, 1903, in Butler County.

Survivors include one sister, Alice Barnett, of Denver, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, one sister, one half brother and one half sister.

Edward Brozik

GARNER _ Edward Brozik, 83, of Garner, died Monday (Sept. 1, 1997) at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City.

Memorial services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the United Presbyterian Church, Garner, with the Rev. Dan Bloesch officiating. The cremains will be interred at a later time.

There will be no visitation. Cataldo Funeral Home, Garner, is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be directed to Hospice of North Iowa.

Edward H. Brozik, the son of James and Mary (Fiala) Brozik, was born Aug. 30, 1914, on a farm northwest of Garner. After attending school at Hayfield, he farmed the family farm.

On Nov. 16, 1935, he married Eleanor Dean Irving, at Mason City.

Ed worked as a mechanic at several businesses in Garner. In 1955 he established the Garner Appliance Store, which Ed and Eleanor operated until they retired in 1980. He enjoyed woodworking, square dancing and camping.

He was a member of the United Presbyterian Church, Garner.

He is survived by his wife, Eleanor Brozik, of Garner; his five children, Janice Torkelson and her husband, Clarence Jr., of Albert Lea, Minn., and their children, Kevin, Wendy, Kristen and Renee; Joyce Birch and her husband, Gary, of Garner; Dallas Brozik and his wife, Doris, of Huntington, W.Va., and their children, Renee, Ann and Kerri; JoAnn Cutshall and her husband, Larry, of Clear Lake, Ind.; and Danette O_Toole of Fertile and son-in-law, Jeff O_Toole and their children, Noah and Jonah; five great-grandchildren, Shannon, Shelby, Bailey, Cory and Mitchel and a sister-in-law, Frances Brozik, of Garner.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Ella Kulas and Mamie Chizek; and six brothers, Harry Brozik, Joseph Brozik, Bill Brozik, V.J. Brozik, Leonard Brozik, and Frank Brozik.

Wilma Carlyn Peterson

CLARION _ Wilma Carlyn Peterson, 89, of New Brighton, Minn., formerly of Clarion, died Sunday (Aug. 31, 1997) at the New Brighton Care Center.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the First Lutheran Church, Clarion, with Pastor Gary L. Boen officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery, Clarion.

Visitation, with the family present, will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the Willim Funeral Home, Clarion.

Wilma Carlyn Peterson was born in Gowie Township of Osceola County, Iowa, on Sept. 4, 1907, and was the daughter of William and Theresa Zemke Piotraschke. In 1915 the family moved to Cottonwood County, Minn., where she grew to womanhood and received her education.

On Nov. 2, 1930, she was united in marriage with John C. Peterson at her parents_ farm home near Windom, Minn.

They came to Clarion and operated J.C. Peterson & Son Hardware on South Main Street for many years. Later they served as the janitors at First Lutheran Church. John died in 1975.

In 1994 Wilma moved to be with her son in New Brighton, Minn. In 1995 she entered the New Brighton Care Center, where she died on Sunday, Aug. 31, 1997, at the age of 89 years, 11 months and 27 days.

Wilma was a founding member of the First Lutheran Church and had been active in church groups, when she lived in Clarion. She was also a member of the Garden Club and auxiliaries of the American Legion and V.F.W.

Those left to cherish her memory include her son, John, and his wife, Janice, of New Brighton, Minn.; two grandsons, Eric of Memphis, Tenn., and David, of Minneapolis, Minn.; her sister, Pauline Hamm and her son, William, of Forest City; and several nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, six brothers and four sisters.

Visitation will begin after 4 p.m. today at Hogan Bremer Colonial Chapel, 126 Third St. N.E., with a Scriptural prayer service beginning at 7 p.m.

Memorials may be given to the Demetra Mataloni Memorial Fund, the Mercy Cancer Center of Mason City, or to North Iowa Hospice in her memory.

Demetra was born Sept. 5, 1927, in Albert Lea, Minn., the daughter of Peter and Harriet (Zubulake) Preftakes. She has been a resident of Mason City since 1939.

She was a graduate of the Mason City High School Class of 1945. She married Henry J. Mataloni on Oct. 2, 1951, in Mason City.

Tula worked in the jewelry business for more than 40 years, first with Ray Seney Jewelry, second with Morel Jewelry, and then for the Golden Touch Jewelry until August of 1997.

She was a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church, and an active volunteer at North Iowa Mercy Health Center.

She is survived by her loving husband, Henry, of Mason City; a son, Tom Mataloni and his wife, Cathy, Mt. Prospect, Ill.; a proud grandmother of two grandsons, Kyle and Alex, both of Mt. Prospect, Ill.; her mother-in-law, Lucy Mataloni, Mason City; two brothers, James P. Preftakes and his wife, Tassie, and Alex Preftakes and his wife, Phyllis, all of Mason City; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; both her paternal and maternal grandparents; her father-in-law, Alfred Mataloni; and two sons, Peter and Paul in 1953.

Loretta M. Andon

TACOMA, Wash. _ Loretta M. Andon, 97, of 7445 S. Prospect, Tacoma, died Friday (Aug. 29, 1997) at Orchard Park Nursing Home.

Graveside services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery, 1224 S. Washington Ave., Mason City, Iowa, with the Rev. Carl Ries of St. Joseph Catholic Church officiating.

There will be no visitation. Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave., Mason City, Iowa, is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be given to the Loretta M. Andon Memorial Fund.

Loretta was born Nov. 8, 1899, at Eau Claire, Wis., daughter of Edward and Ernestina (Brovski) Wendt. She graduated from high school in Eau Claire, Wis.

Loretta was married to George A. Andon on March 8, 1919, in Minnesota.

She lived in Manly, Iowa, before moving to Mason City, Iowa, and she moved to Tacoma in 1981.

She was a former member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Mason City, Iowa.

Survivors include daughters, Frances Berry, Anaheim, Calif.; Eleanor Harris, Owatonna, Minn.; Bessie Casteel, Tacoma, Wash., and Sylvia "Peggy" Guertin and her husband, Don, Roseburg, Ore.; daughter-in-law, Kathryn "Kay" Andon of Mason City, Iowa; 18 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; 18 great-great-grandchildren; and one great-great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, George; five sisters; five brothers; and son, John, in May of 1993.

Zachary James "Zach" Opkis

NORA SPRINGS _ Zachary James "Zach" Opkis, 3-month-old son of Mark and Mary (Gierok) Opkis, of 102 Third St. N.W., Nora Springs, died Monday (Sept. 1, 1997) at home.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Luke Lutheran Church, 101 N. Hawkeye, with the Rev. Ruth Hansen officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Mason City.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Sheckler Colonial Chapel, 101 N. Fourth St., and will continue one hour prior to services on Friday at the church.

Zachary James Opkis was born May 21, 1997, in Mason City. He was baptized July 13, 1997, at St. Luke Lutheran Church. He loved to be with his three sisters.

Survivors include his parents, Mark and Mary Opkis, Nora Springs; his sisters, Cassandra, Brandi and Amanda, all at home; his maternal grandparents, Ron and Evie Henderson, Winona, Minn.; his paternal grandparents, Alvin and Phyllis Opkis, Nora Springs; maternal great-grandfather, Alfred Gierok, Winona, Minn.; his paternal great-grandfather, Donald Dye, Mason City; his godparents, Uncle Mike and Aunt Heather Gierok, Winona, Minn.; and Aunt Deb Opkis, Mason City; also survived by his uncle Jarrod Opkis, Nora Springs; and his aunt Wendy Opkis, Rockford.

Ralph H. Lesch

OSAGE _ Ralph H. Lesch, 88, of Osage, died Monday (Sept. 1, 1997) at North Iowa Mercy Health Center East, Mason City.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Our Savior_s Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Dennis Hanson and the Rev. Roy Ott officiating. Burial will be in the Osage Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the Champion Funeral Home, and one hour prior to services at the church.

He was born Nov. 30, 1908, in Mitchell County, the son of Alfred and Louise (Troge) Lesch.

Ralph attended rural Mitchell County Schools. He took agriculture short courses at Iowa State University to further a lifelong career in agriculture.

Ralph will be remembered for his Hereford cattle business. He started showing cattle at beef shows in his early teens and enjoyed the cattle circuit. He has many ribbons to show for his efforts. He served on the state board of the Hereford Cattle Association for many years. After 75 years, he retired from the cattle business and sold his cattle herd.

On Aug. 1, 1935, Ralph married Margie Pickering. They made their home in Osage. Margie died on June 6, 1995. Ralph supported Margie in her private preschool for many years, believing in the necessity of early childhood education. Ralph was a past member of the Mitchell County Planning and Zoning Commission, serving as past chairman and was a member for many years. He was a member of Our Savior_s Lutheran Church.

He is survived by his daughter, Kay Williams of Charles City; one brother, Francis Lesch, Osage, and two sisters, Marvel Lesch, Osage and Irva Feldpouch, Osage.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Louise Lesch; and his wife, Margie.

Dorothy L. Ross

CHARLES CITY _ Dorothy L. Ross, 83, 129 Cedar Terrace No., and formerly of 306 Ninth Ave., died Monday (Sept. 1, 1997) at Floyd County Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Main and Gilbert Streets, with the Rev. Dennis D. Niezwaag and the Rev. Karen Rask Behling officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from noon to 9 p.m. today at the Fullerton Hage Funeral Home, 401 Blunt St., with the family receiving friends from 5 to 8 p.m. There will be further visitation one hour prior to services on Thursday at the church.

Dorothy L. Ross was born Jan. 10, 1914, in Powersville.

She is survived by two sons, Galen Hesse, Camanche, and James Murch, San Angelo, Texas; a stepdaughter, Jean Hungerford, Manly; two sisters, Gertrude Koebrick, Charles City, and Norma Martin, Springdale, Ariz.; nine grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; six stepgreat-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son, one stepdaughter and eight brothers.

Ared White Jr.

MASON CITY _ Ared White Jr., 79, of 1414 N. Carolina Place, died Tuesday (Sept. 2, 1997) at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit.

Graveside services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Memorial Park Cemetery, with the Rev. Rick Eichenlaub of the First Christian Church officiating.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. today at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave.

Memorials may be given to the Ared White Jr. Memorial Fund or Hospice of North Iowa.

Ared White Jr. Was born July 7, 1918, in Des Moines, the son of Ared and Helen (Mann) White Sr. When Ared was 10 days old, he moved with his family to Mason City.

Ared attended and graduated from Mason City High School in 1936. Ared married Florence Geesman on June 15, 1940, in Clinton.

He worked as switchman for the Milwaukee Railroad for 37 years, retiring in 1979.

Ared enjoyed hunting and fishing with his son-in-law, Ed. He also enjoyed bowling and golfing.

Ared was a member of the First Christian Church, Boy Scouts and served as secretary and treasurer for the United Transportation Union.

Survivors include his wife, Florence White, Mason City; one daughter, Suzanne Renner and her husband, Edward, Fargo, N.D.; two granddaughters, Dr. Christina Rostad and her husband, Randy, Fargo, N.D., and Cynthia DuBord and her husband, J.P., Fargo, N.D.; one grandson, Donald Renner, Fargo, N.D.; two great-grandchildren, Mason DuBord and Hailey Rostad; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Wayne; one infant brother; and one infant sister.

Wanda Mayland Helman

BRITT _ Wanda Mayland Helman, 44, died Wednesday (Sept. 3, 1997) at the Methodist Hospital, Minneapolis, Minn.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at the Lord of Life Lutheran Church, Maple Grove, Minn. Burial will be in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens, Crystal, Minn.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the Gearty-Delmore Funeral Home, Plymouth.

Memorials may be given to the Park Nicollet Cancer Center and Lord of Life Sunday School in her memory.

Wanda attended Britt Schools and graduated in 1972. She attended Mankato Business College, graduating in 1974.

She was employed by Honeywell of Minneapolis for a number of years

She was united in marriage to David Helman on Aug. 7, 1987.

She is survived by her husband, David; a loving daughter, Emily Ann; her mother, Beverly Mayland of Britt; a sister, Nancy and her husband, Daryl Beenken, of Woden; a brother, Keith and his wife, Cindy Mayland, of Britt; nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her father. Lewis Mayland; her maternal and paternal grandparents.

Louetta "Lou" Angle

SWEA CITY _ Louetta "Lou" Angle, 69, of Swea City, died Wednesday (Sept. 3, 1997) at St. Mary_s Hospital, Rochester, Minn.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the United Methodist Church, Swea City, with the Rev. Robert Connors officiating. Burial will be in Harrison Township Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the Garry-Roberts-Murphy-Schaaf Funeral Home, Bancroft.

Lou was born Feb. 18, 1928, in rural Swea City.

Survivors include her husband, Ralph, of Swea City; one son, Larry Woods, Fairmont, Minn.; three grandchildren; her mother, Daisy Engstrom, Swea City; two brothers, Rudy Engstrom, Lake City, and Lawrence Engstrom, Swea City; and three sisters, Mavis Fischer, Swea City; Darlene Albert, Albert Lea, Minn., and Mildred Duflo, Fairmont, Minn.

She was preceded in death by her father.

Harold Glendon Schultheis

OSAGE _ Harold Glendon Schultheis, 91, of Osage, died Thursday (Sept. 4, 1997) at the Riceville Community Rest Home.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, with the Rev. Philip Recker officiating. Burial will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery.

Visitation will begin after 2:30 p.m. today at the Champion Funeral Home, with a 3 p.m. rosary and a 7:30 p.m. Scripture service.

Harold Glendon Schultheis was born April 11, 1906, in Douglas Township, Mitchell County.

Survivors include his wife, Erna Schultheis of Osage; two daughters, Katheryn Schmuecker, Marion, and Lorraine Klaes, Osage; 22 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two daughters and two brothers.

Claire W. Woodley

ALLISON _ Claire W. Woodley, 80, of Allison, died Thursday (Sept. 4, 1997) at the Grundy County Memorial Hospital, Grundy Center.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Bristow United Methodist Church, Bristow, with the Rev. Don W. Burkett and the Rev. Kate Bell officiating. Burial will be in the Dumont Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the Sietsema-Vogel Funeral Home, Dumont.

Claire W. Woodley was born Feb. 10, 1917, in Cameron, Wis.

Survivors include his wife, Mina Woodley, Allison; three sons, Victor Woodley, Allison; Marvin Woodley, Middleburg, Fla., and Allan Woodley, Parkersburg; one daughter, Ruby Clemens, Vinton; 13 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, stepfather and one brother.

George N. Kavars

MASON CITY _ George N. Kavars, 79, of Mason City, died Wednesday (Sept. 3, 1997) at the Manly Care Center.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Hogan-Bremer Colonial Chapel, 126 Third St. N.E., with the Rev. Joseph Mirowski of the Greek Orthodox Church of the Transfiguration officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery with full military honors conducted by the Mason City Veterans Memorial Association.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. today at the funeral chapel, and will continue until time of services on Saturday.

George N. Kavars was born Jan. 19, 1918, in Mason City, son of Nick and Bertha Kavars. He married Goldie Talbot in 1949, in Mason City. George grew up in Mason City and attended Mason City High School.

He served in the United States Army during World War II. He worked at Andrews Concrete in Clear Lake for many years until retiring.

George enjoyed gardening, fishing and he loved to play bingo. He was a member of the V.F.W. and a past member of the Moose Lodge.

Survivors include two sons, Kerry Kavars and his wife, Barbara, Manly, and Ronald Kavars, Dubuque; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one sister, Kathryn Kiroff, Mason City; one brother, Gus Kavars, Mason City; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, one sister and three brothers.
