Marilyn A. King

MINNESOTA CITY, Minn. — Marilyn A. King, 59, of Route 1, Box 50J, Minnesota City, died Tuesday (Oct. 14, 1997) at St. Joseph's Hospital, St. Paul.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Silver Lake Lutheran Church, rural Lake Mills, Iowa, with the Rev. Steve Smith officiating.

Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. Friday at Oak Grove Cemetery, Tomah, Wis., with the Rev. Gregory Geier officiating.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. today at the Mittelstadt Funeral Home, Lake Mills, Iowa, and one hour prior to services at the church.

Marilyn Ann (Nelson) King was born to Carl and Arlene (Ferley) Nelson on Dec. 3, 1937. She was confirmed at Silver Lake Lutheran Church.

Marilyn was united in marriage to Wesley "Toby" King on July 30, 1988, in Eagan, Minn.

Marilyn is survived by her husband, Wesley "Toby" King of Minnesota City, Minn.; daughter and son-in-law, Dianne and Daryl Olson, of Lakeville, Minn.; three brothers, Larry and his wife, Bernette Nelson, of Emmons, Minn.; Gene and his wife, Penny Nelson, of Lake Mills, Iowa, and Dennis and his wife, Holly, of Mason City, Iowa; one sister, Julie Nelson, of Hadley, Mass.; one stepdaughter, Kelli King of Eau Claire, Wis.; one stepson, Chris and his wife, Cindy King, of La Crosse, Wis.; four grandchildren, Nathan and Katie Olson and Samantha and Weston King; along with many nieces and nephews, countless friends, and the family German shepherd, Wolfie.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Arlene Nelson; her father, Carl Nelson; one daughter, Debbie Kuhlmann; and one son, Richard Kuhlmann.

 

 

Mabel M. Finch

MASON CITY — Mabel M. Finch, 88, of 620 Fourth St. S.W., died Monday (Oct. 13, 1997) at Good Shepherd Nursing Home.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Fullerton Funeral Home, 123 Second St. S.E., with Lieutenant Jon Augenstein of the Salvation Army officiating. Interment will be in the Kensett Cemetery.

Visitation will begin after 9 a.m. Friday at Fullerton Funeral Home.

Mabel was born on Jan. 15, 1909, at Platte, S.D., the daughter of Frank and Pearl (Tibbits) Weaverling. She attended rural schools in North Iowa and Nora Springs.

She was united in marriage to Claude E. Finch and they farmed together in the Kensett area. To this union was born one daughter. Following her husband's death in 1955, she moved to Mason City to live with her daughter. She did baby sitting for area families.

She was a loyal volunteer at the Salvation Army where she was a member.

Mabel is survived by one sister, Esther and her husband, August Stiller, of Nora Springs; and one brother, Clarence Weaverling of Hampton; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one daughter, Rozelle Anderson in 1993; four sisters, Marie Reman, Hazel Young, Lois Hall, Charlotte Nickel; and two brothers, Wayne and Loyal Weaverling.

 

Robert B. 'Buck' Nielsen

SANTA ANA, Calif. — Robert B. "Buck" Nielsen, 56, of Santa Ana, formerly of Rowan and Belmond, Iowa, died Aug. 23, 1997, in Santa Ana.

Memorial services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Dugger-Ewing Funeral Home, Belmond, Iowa, where other arrangements are incomplete.

CHARLES CITY — Leona P. Crangle, 91, Riverside Chautauqua Guest Home, and formerly of the Colwell area, died Wednesday (Oct. 15, 1997) at the Floyd County Memorial Hospital

Robert B. 'Buck' Nielsen

SANTA ANA, Calif. — Robert B. "Buck" Nielsen, 56, of Santa Ana, formerly of Rowan and Belmond, Iowa, passed away Aug. 23, 1997, at the Carehouse Convalescent Center in Santa Ana.

Memorial services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Dugger Ewing Funeral Home, Belmond, Iowa, with the Rev. Joan Skyrme officiating. Private inurnment will be in Graceland Cemtery, Rowan, Iowa. The body has been cremated.

Robert, the son of Arthur J. And Naida B. Waddington Nielsen, was born June 16, 1941, in Belmond, Iowa. He grew up and attended school in Rowan, Iowa.

Buck enlisted in the United States Navy in 1959 and served until 1965. After leaving the Navy, he worked for a time in Belmond, Iowa.

Buck then moved to Santa Ana, where he owned and operated heavy equipment working in construction for the past 30 years.

Robert is survived by a brother, Dale Nielsen, of Anoka, Minn.; a niece, Tracy; and a nephew, Todd.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.

 

Manuel 'Manny' Sanchez

MASON CITY — Manuel "Manny" Sanchez died at home Wednesday (Oct. 15, 1997).

A funeral Mass will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 302 Fifth St. S.E., with Father Michael Schuller officiating. Interment will be at Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery.

Visitation will be held after 3 p.m. today at the Fullerton Funeral Home, 123 Second St. S.E., with a 7 p.m. parish rosary.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia; one son, Victor and his wife, Kaye Sanchez, Des Moines; two grandsons, Kevin Sanchez, of Kansas City, and David Sanchez, of Des Moines; one great-grandson, Christopher of Des Moines; two sisters, Isabel Sanchez, of Mason City, and Mary and her husband, Robert Lievanos, Salinas, Calif.; two brothers, Merno and his wife, Mary Sanchez, of Mason City, and Joseph and his wife, Mary Sanchez, of Glendale, Calif.; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Dorates Sanchez.

 

Elizabeth Patchen Hickman

PORTSMOUTH, Ohio — Elizabeth Patchen Hickman, 87, of Portsmouth, died Wednesday, Oct. 1, 1997, at Hill View Health Care.

Memorial services were held Oct. 13 at Hill View Retirement Center, with the Rev. John Richards officiating.

She was born Nov. 3, 1909, in Mason City, Iowa, the daughter of the late Edward A. and Bertha Bergen Patchen.

She was a graduate of Cornell College and did graduate work at the University of Kentucky and taught school in Iowa and the Portsmouth school system in English, French and Latin.

She was a member of the Valley Methodist Church and P.E.O.

Surviving are her husband, Paul Hickman, 1610 28th St., Apt. 623, Portsmouth, Ohio 45662, whom she married May 30, 1935; two sons, Dr. Stephen F. Hickman, of Massilon, Ohio, and Brian Hickman of Cheritan, Va.; three grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; one great-grandchild; and six stepgreat-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by a son, Dr. James C. Hickman; and two brothers, Carl and James Patchen.

 

Gladys M. Harlan

HAMPTON — Gladys M. Harlan, 92, of Hampton, died Thursday (Oct. 16, 1997) at Franklin General Hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Sietsema-Vogel Funeral Home, with the Rev. Dick Parker officiating. Burial will be in the Harlan Cemetery, rural Dumont.

Gladys M. Harlan was born March 17, 1905, in rural Butler County.

Survivors include one daughter, Mildred Varrelman, Hampton; one son, Lloyd Lumley, Clear Lake; two stepdaughters, Lila Vought, Humbolt, and Lois Lou Stock, Dumont; 11 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; as well as numerous stepgrandchildren, stepgreat-grandchildren and stepgreat-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, one son, two stepsons, two brothers and one stepgrandson.

Leona Pearl Crangle

CHARLES CITY — Leona Pearl Crangle, 91, Riverside Chautauqua Guest Home, and formerly of Colwell, died Wednesday (Oct. 15, 1997) at Floyd County Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Colwell United Church of Christ, Colwell, with the Rev. Friederike Tarr officiating. Burial will be in the Sunnyside Memory Gardens, rural Charles City.

Visitation will be held from noon until 9 p.m. today at the Fullerton Hage Funeral Home, 401 Blunt St., with the family receiving friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour prior to services on Saturday at the church.

Leona Pearl Zimmer Crangle was born Sept. 8, 1906, in Charles City.

She is survived by one son, Jerry Crangle, Charles City; two daughters, Joanne Yeager, Arvada, Colo., and Kathryn Hopkins, Grand River; one brother, Delbert Zimmer of Pittsburgh, Pa.; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sisters and three brothers.

 

Lewis Bram

MASON CITY — Lewis Bram, 74, of 1928 S. Wilson Ave., died Wednesday (Oct. 15, 1997) at Humboldt Memorial County Hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Oak Hill Baptist Church, Humboldt, with the Rev. Lonnie Wilson of the First Baptist Church, Rockwell, and the Rev. Kenneth Stokes, Oak Hill Baptist Church, Humboldt, officiating. Burial will be with military rites in the Vernon Township Cemetery, Renwick.

Visitation will begin after 3 p.m. today at the Wilson Funeral Home, Algona, and after noon Saturday at the church in Humboldt.

Lewis Bram was born Oct. 27, 1922, in Renwick.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia, of Mason City; one daughter, Diane Kraling, Klemme; five sons, the Rev. L. Steven Bram, Rapua, New Guinea; Douglas Bram, Ankeny; Dan J. Bram, Burchinal; Todd Bram, Lewiston, Minn., and Bradley Bram, Rockwell; and 20 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and two sisters.

GARNER — Ione D. Harms, 75, of Garner, died Thursday (Oct. 16, 1997) at home.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Jerry Robertson officiating. Burial will be held at Concord Township Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the Cataldo Funeral Chapel, 160 E. Fourth St.

Ione Doris Harms was born Aug. 20, 1922, at Big Lake, Minn.

Survivors include her husband, Reno Harms, of Garner; eight children, Ernest Harms, Garner; Howard Harms, Britt; June Harms, Owatonna, Minn.; Frances Benesh, Garner; Harley Harms, Boone; Duane Harms, Garner; George Harms, Boone, and August Harms, Richland Center, Wis.; 13 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; four sisters, Anna Carolus, Garner; Lorraine Houdek, Aurora, Minn.; Delores Johnson, Marshalltown, and Beverly Prescott, Klemme; and two brothers, George Tanner, Garner, and Walter Tanner Sr., Mason City.

MASON CITY — Mrs. J. P. (Emma Opal) Riley, 90, of 302 Second St. N.E., formerly of 305 S. Kentucky Ave., died Friday (Oct. 17, 1997) at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Wayside Chapel, First United Methodist Church, 119 S. Georgia Ave.

Dennis Lynch was born on March 9, 1924, on a farm near Seneca.

Survivors include his wife, Valeria; children, Alice Sires of Mercer Island, Wash.; Jean Schmidt, Garden City, Minn.; Sandy Welp, Bancroft; Jerry Lynch, Topeka, Kan., and Phil Lynch of Hastings, Minn.; 15 grandchildren; and three brothers, Robert Lynch, Seneca; Daniel Lynch, Mason City, and Jim Lynch, Redfield.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters and three brothers.

 

Lewis 'Louie' Bram

MASON CITY — Lewis "Louie" Bram, 74, of 1928 S. Wilson Ave., died Wednesday (Oct. 15, 1997) in the extended care unit of Humboldt County Memorial Hospital, Humboldt.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. today at the Oak Hill Baptist Church, Humboldt, with the Rev. Lonnie Wilson and the Rev. Kenneth Stoakes officiating. Military graveside rites will be held in the Vernon Cemetery, Renwick, with Bill Ryburn, Harold Haugen, Joe Crossley, Bud Bergman, Dave Ripley and Glen Wigans serving as honorary bearers and Shawn Bram, Eric S. Kraling, Douglas L. Bram, Todd H. Bram, Daniel J. Bram and Bradley G. Bram serving as casket bearers.

The Wilson Funeral Home, Algona, is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation will continue after noon today the church.

Lewis Bram, the son of Henry and Jennie (Rasmussen) Bram, was born Oct. 27, 1922, in Renwick.

He attended the Vernon Consolidated Schools and then farmed with his parents. After serving in the United States Army from 1943 to 1944, he returned to the home farm.

On Oct. 17, 1948, he and Patricia Ann Guy were united in marriage at Renwick. They farmed the family farm near Renwick for 12 years before moving, in 1960, to a Cerro Gordo farm near Rockwell.

After retiring in 1985, the couple moved to Mason City, which was close enough for him to still enjoy his farm.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Rockwell. He enjoyed attending auctions, gardening, woodworking and furniture repair. The Brams especially enjoyed visiting their children and grandchildren as well as spending time at their summer home, a log cabin he built, in Wauben, Minn.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Patricia; one daughter, Diane D. Kraling and her husband, Eric, of Klemme; five sons, L. Steven Bram and his wife, Elaine, of Papua, New Guinea; Douglas L. Bram and his wife, Janna, of Ankeny; Dan J. Bram of Burchinal, and his special friend, Laurel Ruth, of Clear Lake; Todd H. Bram and his wife, Kelly, of Lewiston, Minn.; Bradley G. Bram and his wife, Jeanette, of Rockwell; 20 grandchildren, Heather McCarthy, Lewis Bram III, Shawn Bram, Craig Pearce, Annie Bram, Patricia Pearce, Jennie Bonjour, Daniella Bram, Emily Pearce, Daisy Bram, Andrew Bram, Stephanie Bram, Lacey Bram, Kady Bram, Benjamin Bram, Allie Bram, Seth Bram, Rosalie Bram, Molly Kraling and Loretta Kraling. Also surviving are a brother, Jake Bram, Oskaloosa; and five sisters, Betty Ripley of Perry; Jennie Norden of Denver, Colo.; Eldine Adams of Tipton; Anita Olsen, Cedar Rapids, and Matilda White of Renwick; as well as a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Doris Withers and Bertha Dunlap; and one brother, Fred Bram.

 

Edwin R. Seaton

OSAGE — Edwin R. Seaton, 85, of Osage, died Friday (Oct. 17, 1997) at the Osage Rehabilitation and Health Care Center.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Champion Funeral Home, with the Rev. Robert Barrick officiating. Burial will be in the Osage Cemetery, with Masonic rites by Osage Masonic Lodge 102 A.F. & A.M. and military rites by the Osage American Legion Post #278.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Champion Funeral Home.

Edwin was born on May 3, 1912, in Montpelier, N.D., the son of Roy O. And Hazel (Russel) Seaton. As a youth, he moved to Osage with his family. Edwin graduated from the Osage High School in 1931. He worked for his dad at the Seaton Trucking Company.

He served with the United States Army during World War II. After returning from the war, he owned and operated Seaton Motor Sales along with his brother, Dean. He later owned the South Side Lounge in Osage. He then became the manager of the family farm.

He was an avid fisherman and hunter. He hunted and fished in Canada and many parts of the United States. After his retirement in 1974, he started fishing in the lakes of Minnesota.

He was a 50-year member of the American Legion and 50-year member of the Masonic Lodge.

Survivors include one sister, Velda Donald, Osage; one brother, Dean Seaton, Osage; a niece, Phoebe Snittjer and her husband, Charles, of Osage; a great-niece, Melissa Gerace and her husband, Garry, Atlanta, Ga.; and a great-great-nephew, Joseph Gerace, Atlanta, Ga.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

 

Ethyl L. West

ST. ANSGAR — Ethyl L. West, 94, of St. Ansgar, passed away Friday (Oct. 17, 1997) at the Good Samaritan Center, which she had been content and grateful to call "home" for five years.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the St. Ansgar United Methodist Church, with Pastor Ted Stowers officiating. Interment will be in the St. Ansgar Cemetery.

Visitation will be one hour prior to services on Monday at the church.

Schroeder & Sites Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Ethyl L. West (Billington) was born Nov. 27, 1902, at Winnebago, Minn. Her childhood was spent in this area and on Dec. 3, 1911, she was baptized in the Presbyterian Church of Winnebago where her parents were members.

Her father was an engineer on the Milwaukee Railroad.

On Sept. 18, 1925, she was united in marriage to Charles West of St. Ansgar.

She soon became an active member of the Methodist Church, filling many offices in the Woman's Society of Christian Service and United Methodist Women. Her home was always open to visiting pastors and lay people as well as groups who met for Bible study and prayer.

Mrs. West was also active in community activities. She was the first Brownie scout leader, also the first "helper" when Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Eggleston started a school lunch program.

She is survived by cousins, Mrs. Charles Zimmerman, Littleton, Colo.; Don Albertson and his wife, Peggy, of Sarasota, Fla.; two nieces, Mrs. Barbara Ostlund and her husband, Alan, of Annandale, Minn., and Mrs. Carol West, of Long Beach, Calif.; two grandnephews, Wesley and Charles Ostlund; as well as many friends, young and old, who will remember a lady who enjoyed doing for others as long as she was able and who graciously accepted and blessed those who later came to help her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Grayce and Charles Billington; and her husband, Charles.

Douglas (Doug) Randolph Zeiger

CLEAR LAKE — Douglas (Doug) Randolph Zeiger, 69, of Clear Lake and Hudson, Fla., died Friday (Oct. 17, 1997) at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Zion Lutheran Church, Clear Lake, with the Rev. Jana Swenson officiating.

Douglas (Doug) Randolph Zeiger was born on March 25, 1928, in Hampton in Franklin County, the son of Randolph (Randy) and Maude (Lumley) Zeiger. He was baptized in the Lutheran faith and attended the Sheffield school system, graduating from Sheffield High School. After completing his schooling he farmed on the family farm in the Thornton area. As a young man he transported German prisoners of war from Algona to a Clear Lake seed company.

During his life he was a cosmetologist and owner and operator of Doug’s Beauty Salon in Clear Lake for eight years. He also drove truck for Dugan Transport Company in Clear Lake until his retirement. He was united in marriage to Iona Floy on March 25, 1945, in Garner, and to this union were born two children, Cherri and Bradley. He enjoyed boating, traveling to Hudson, Fla., flea markets, collecting model ships, collecting guns, drinking coffee and visiting with his friends and was good at fixing things, but his great love and enjoyment was his family and grandchildren.

He was a member of the Moose Lodge No. 1328 in Mason City, Independent Order of Odd Fellows No. 187 in Clear Lake and was a life member of the NRA.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Juanita Zeiger of Clear Lake; daughter, Cherri Sullivan and her husband, David, of Colorado Springs, Colo.; three stepchildren, James (Jim) Jennings and his wife, Beth, of Mason City, Greg Jennings and his wife, Carol, of Clear Lake and Kerry Purviance and her fiance, Mike Floy, of Clear Lake; two grandchildren, Shawn Eugene Sullivan and his wife, Serena, of Dublin, Ireland, and Corie Lea Cruise and her husband, Mark, of Phoenix, Ariz.; two great-grandchildren, David Shawn Sullivan and Lee David Cruise; nine stepgrandchildren, Jill Jennings of Mason City, Jamie Jennings of Mason City, Thomas Jennings of Mason City, Andrea Jennings of Clear Lake, Amanda Jennings of Clear Lake, Gregory Jennings of Clear Lake, Kelly Purviance of Clear Lake, Bill Purviance of Clear Lake and Chelsy Purviance of Clear Lake; one sister, Rosemary Snider of Hampton; as well as other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Bradley Douglas Zeiger; and a stepgranddaughter, Sarah Rebecca Jennings.

 

Chris Neilson Holm

PLYMOUTH — Chris Neilson Holm, 100, died Friday (Oct. 17, 1997) at the Manly Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Bride Colonial Chapel, 110 East Spring St., Manly, with the Rev. Richard Pippert and the Rev. Deborah Stowers officiating. Burial will be in the Bohemian Cemetery in Plymouth with graveside military honors by the Edward Tosel American Legion Post No. 110 of Manly.

Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday and one hour prior to service time on Tuesday at the funeral chapel.

The family of Chris Neilson Holm has requested that memorial contributions be made to the charity of the donor’s choice in his memory.

Chris Neilson Holm was born on Sept. 1, 1897, in Bern, Denmark, the son of Jens Christian and Clare (Jepsen) Holm. He received his education in Bern, Denmark, and also attended school in South Dakota. Before he was married he farmed for the Wharam family northwest of Mason City. He was inducted into the U.S. Army, serving in the Philippines during World War I. During his life he drove a bulk truck for the Standard Oil Company in the Mason City, Cedar Falls and Joice areas until becoming manager of the Standard Oil Bulk Plant in Joice. He was united in marriage to Mabel Elizabeth Gilpatrick on Feb. 10, 1926, in Mason City. She preceded him in death on April 27, 1993. After their marriage, he continued to work for Charlie Merchant in the Mason City area for 20 years, and also farmed for four years on the Lyke farm near Plymouth and the Bud Navratil farm near Plymouth.

He enjoyed playing the fiddle, dancing and playing cards, but his great love and enjoyment was his family and grandchildren.

He was a Methodist by faith.

Left to cherish his memory are a son, Johnie Neilson Holm and his wife, Doris, of Grand Meadow, Minn.; a daughter, Grace Ann Lammers and her husband, Walter, of Rock Falls; nine grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Mabel, who died on April 27, 1993, and a brother.

 

 

Mrs. J.P. (Emma Opal) Riley

MASON CITY — Mrs. J.P. (Emma Opal) Riley, 90, of 302 Second St. N.E., formerly of 305 S. Kentucky Ave., died Friday (Oct. 17, 1997) at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in the Wayside Chapel of First United Methodist Church, 119 S. Georgia Ave., with the Rev. Sharon Betsworth officiating. Burial will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Sugar Plain Cemetery, Thorntown, Ind.

Friends may call one hour prior to services at the church on Monday.

Opal Riley was born March 30, 1907, in Atwood, Ill., the daughter of Lester and Bessie Clapp. She was united in marriage to James Paul Riley on April 28, 1927. The Rileys moved to Mason City in 1943. Opal was a member of the First United Methodist Church, church circle and at one time was active in Republican politics.

Survivors include one son, William G. Riley and his wife, Jean, of Clear Lake; one daughter, Patricia Van Ry of St. Charles, Mo.; one stepson, Robert E. Riley and his wife, Mildred, of Rogers, Ark.; grandchildren, Scott Riley of Clear Lake, Jeff Riley of Japan, Mike Van Ry of Las Vegas, Nev., and Vicki Malinee of St. Charles, Mo.; and great-grandchildren, Sheri and Bill Riley, Emily and John Riley, Nicki and Kirsti Van Ry and Sean Malinee.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, five brothers, three sisters and a son-in-law, Clifford Van Ry, in January of 1997.

OSAGE — Edwin R. Seaton, 85, of Osage, died Friday (Oct. 17, 1997) at the Osage Rehabilitation and Health Care Center.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. today at the Champion Funeral Home with the Rev. Robert Barrick officiating. Burial will be in the Osage Cemetery with Masonic Rites by Osage Masonic Lodge 102 A.F. & A.M. and Military Rites by the Osage American Legion Post #278.

Visitation was held Sunday at the Champion Funeral Home, Osage.

Edwin was born on May 3, 1912, in Montpelier, N.D., the son of Roy O. And Hazel (Russel) Seaton. As a youth, he moved to Osage with his family. Edwin graduated from the Osage High School in 1931. He worked for his dad at the Seaton Trucking Company.

He served with the United States Army during World War II. After returning from the war, he owned and operated Seaton Motor Sales along with his brother, Dean. He later owned the south Side Lounge in Osage. He then became the manager of the family farm.

He was an avid fisherman and hunter. He hunted and fished in Canada and many parts of the United States. After his retirement in 1974, he started fishing in the lakes of Minnesota.

He was a 50-year member of the American Legion and 50-year member of the Masonic Lodge.

Survivors include one sister, Veda Donald, Osage; one brother, Dean Seaton, Osage; a niece, Phoebe Snittjer and her husband, Charles, of Osage; a great-niece, Melissa Gerace and her husband, Garry, Atlanta, Ga.; and a great-great-nephew, Joseph Gerace, Atlanta, Ga.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Michael’s Catholic Church with the Rev. Cecil Friedman officiating. Burial will be in St. Michael’s Catholic Church Cemetery with military graveside rites conducted by Seely-Walsh Post No. 425.

Visitation will be held from 3 to 9 p.m. today at the Geilenfeld-Murphy-Schaaf Funeral Home with a C.D.A. Rosary at 3 p.m. and a parish prayer service at 7:30 p.m.

George Vitzthum was born May 5, 1917, in Wesley.
