Henry C. Entner

MASON CITY  



Henry C. Entner, 89, of 304 Third St. N.E., died Monday (June

2, 1997) at the Heritage Care Center.



Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Memorial

Park Cemetery, with the Rev. Chris Hellevik of Trinity Lutheran

Church officiating.



Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the Fullerton Patterson

James Funeral Chapel, 123 Second St. S.E..



Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider

memorials to the Salvation Army Adult Day Health Center.



Henry was born on Sept. 25, 1907, at Comstock, Wis., the son

of Leonard and Mary (Kiefer) Entner. He attended school in Comstock

and then farmed in Wisconsin.



At the age of 17, he moved to Mason City where he installed

machinery and owned and operated Entner House Moving.



He was employed by the Sugar Beet Plant for 17 years during

the campaigns.



He was united in marriage to Rosalyn Theilen in 1944 at Osage.



During his leisure hours, he enjoyed fishing for Walleye and

Northern at St. Ansgar, Clear Lake and Red Wing, Minn.



He and his wife enjoyed dancing to Big Band music, taking long

walks in the woods and discussing politics.



Henry is survived by his stepson, Elmer Theilen, Mason City;

one brother, Arthur and his wife, Maxine Entner, Mason City;

two sisters, Lucy Ronesen, Eau Claire, Wis., and Edna Seemann

of Davenport; three grandchildren, Terry, Jerry and Dawn Theilen,

all of Mason City; and seven great-grandchildren, Jason, Wesley,

Joshua, Ryan, Katie, Amanda and Tanya Theilen.



Henry was preceded in death by his parents; his wife in 1983;

three sisters, Alvina Abbott, Barbara Matty and Bertha Angel;

and three brothers, Robert, Louis and Carl Entner.

Karl Kirchgatter, 66, of Carpenter, died Wednesday (June 4,

1997) at North Iowa Mercy Health Center East, Mason City.

Dan N. Allen, 79, of 2327 20th St. S.W., died Wednesday (June

4, 1997) at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit.



Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the First

Marie E. Raber, 90, of Kanawha, died Tuesday (June 3, 1997)

at the Kanawha Community Home.



Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Ewing-Dugger

Funeral Home, with the Rev. David A. Lee officiating. Burial

will be in Amsterdam Township Cemetery.



Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the Ewing-Dugger

Funeral Home.



Marie E. Raber was born Aug. 10, 1906.



Survivors include two daughters, Dolores Hayworth of Garner,

and Charlotte Gabrielson of Belmond; one son, Lyle Schaefer of

Marion, Ind.; 16 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.



She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband,

her second husband, two brothers, two daughters and one granddaughter.

Dorothy E. Scott

CHARLES CITY 



Dorothy E. Scott, 83, 400 First Ave., died Wednesday (June

4, 1997) at Floyd County Memorial Hospital.



Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Trinity

United Methodist Church, Milwaukee and Hulin Streets, with the

Rev. Debra Lincoln officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery.



Visitation will be held from 3 to 9 p.m. today  at the Fullerton

Hage Funeral Home, 401  Blunt St., and from 9 to 11 a.m. Friday.

There will be further visitation one hour prior to services at

the church.



Dorothy Esther Scott was born Jan. 7, 1914, in Bancroft.



Survivors include a stepson, Ronald Dean Scott of Dubuque; four

stepgrandchildren; and three stepgreat-grandchildren.



She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers

and three sisters.



Those considering an expression of sympathy may direct memorials

to the Floyd County Cancer Fund or the American Heart Association.

Dan N. Allen

MASON CITY 



Dan N. Allen, 79, of 2327 20th St. S.W., died Wednesday (June

4, 1997) at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit.



Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. today at First Baptist

Church, 125 E. State St., with the Rev. Ron Stein of First Baptist

Church officiating.  Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery,

Highway 18 West.



Visitation was held from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Major Erickson

Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave., and one hour prior to

services at the church today.



Memorials may be given to the Dan N. Allen Memorial Fund.



Dan was born Dec. 19, 1917, in Vancouver, British Columbia,

son of Dan ``Kelly'' and Mandy (Nelson) Allen.



He grew up in Chicago as a small child and moved to Mason City

and graduated from Mason City High School in 1935.



Dan married Carma Brackey on June 25, 1939, in Mason City.



They lived in Chicago for a few years, then returned to Mason

City.



He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.



He worked for the Mason City Fire Department for 35 years and

retired as a lieutenant in 1981.



After retirement, he enjoyed spending time bowling, Walleye

fishing on Dead Lake in Minnesota and watching sports.



He is survived by a son, Robert Allen and his wife, Judy, Mason

City; and his daughter, Cheryl Allen of Clear Lake; one daughter-in-law,

Audrey Allen, Plymouth; grandchildren, Jeremy Allen and Amy Allen,

both of Mason City; Tara True and her husband, Eric, of Mason

City, and Angie Allen, of Clear Lake; stepgrandaughter, Karen

Michaelsen and her husband, Terry, of Mason City; great-grandchildren,

Garrette and Blake True of Mason City; stepgreat-grandchildren,

Mandy and Shane Servantez of Mason City; a brother, Dave Allen,

Detroit, Mich.; and his faithful companion, Zipper.



He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Carma, in 1980;

and son, David in October of 1996.

James Reed McLennan  

GREENE    



Funeral services for James Reed McLennan, 71, of 605 Park St.,

will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the United Methodist Church,

with Pastor Gene I. Burry officiating. Burial will be in the

Rose Hill Cemetery, with military honors conducted by Tack Barnett

Post #268 American Legion of Greene.



Visitation will be held from 1 to 9 p.m. today at Reid's Funeral

Chapel, with a 7 p.m. public Scripture service.



James Reed McLennan was born June 15, 1926, in rural Greene,

a son of Dewey and Orpha (Reed) McLennan and died Thursday (June

5, 1997) at his home in Greene.



He attended rural schools in Butler County and graduated from

Greene High School in 1943.



On Dec. 17, 1943, he entered in the United States Marine Corps

where he served 2 years in the Asiatic Pacific Theater seeing

combat on Iwo Jima. He was discharged on July 18, 1946.



He attended college for a short time and re-enlisted in the

Marines Corps and spent 13 months in Korea.



On April 10, 1952, he was united in marriage to Betty Jean Williams

at the Methodist Church in Charles City.



Jim and Betty operated a Cafe-Tavern from 1953 to 1956.

   

In 1957, Jim began employment with Standard (Amoco) Oil Co.

as a tank wagon operator in Greene until 1970 when he became

territory manager in Independence and Garden City, Kan., and

later in Storm Lake, until his retirement when he returned to

Greene.



Jim served two terms on the Greene City Council, 15 years with

the Fire Department and was a 50 year member of the American

Legion.



He was a member of the United Methodist Church where he served

on the finance committee and as treasurer of the Men's Group.



Jim was an avid fisherman, hunter and trapper.



Living family members include his loving wife of 53 years, Betty,

of Greene; one son, James A. and his wife, Dawn McLennan, of

Alexander; three grandchildren, Jamie Lee, Jered Reed and Jordan

William; one sister, Mrs. Lewis (Phyllis) Majewski of Greene;

one half sister, Mrs. Jim (Patsy) Burnell of Waterloo; one half

brother, Ed McLennan of Waterloo; and many nieces, nephews and

cousins.



He was preceded in death by his parents.

to the James A. McLennan Memorial Fund in care of the family.

Arlene Robertson 

STEVENSON RANCH, Calif.



Arlene (Abel) Robertson, 80, a resident of Stevenson Ranch,

passed away May 24, 1997, in Northridge.



Interment was in Santa Monica.



She was born July 14, 1916, in Garner, Iowa.



She is survived by her stepfather, Glen Veeder, of Mason City,

Iowa. She was the devoted mother of David Taylor and devoted

grandmother of Michael and Jared Taylor, all of Stevenson Ranch.



She was preceded in death by her parents, Robin and Clarissa

Abel; and two brothers, Robin ``Bob'' and Russel Abel.



Memorials should be sent to the American Heart Association in

her memory.



Eckerman-Heisman Funeral Service, Burbank, was in charge of

arrangements.

Gladys M. Steele

SHEFFIELD 



Gladys M. Steele, 66, of Sheffield, died Thursday (June 5, 1997)

at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City.



Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at First

United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Robert Beard officiating.

Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery.



Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the Grarup

Funeral Home.



Gladys Steele was born on Aug. 12, 1930, in Alexander, the daughter

of Joseph and Henrietta (Pastour) Stoffer.



She attended the Alexander, Hampton and Sheffield school systems

before working as a waitress for various restaurants in the Sheffield

area.



She was united in marriage to Bob Steele on April 11, 1948,

in the EUB Church parsonage in Sheffield by the Rev. Miller.



After working several other jobs in the area, she entered the

United States Postal System in 1968 serving in several capacities

before becoming the Postmaster of Sheffield in 1985, retiring

in 1990.



Gladys enjoyed reading, music, dancing and poetry, but her greatest

love was spending time with her family.



She served on the committee that was instrumental in starting

the EMT services in the Sheffield area. She was also a member

of the Area Community Commonwealth, Sheffield Community Club,

Eastern Star and the American Legion Ladies Auxillary. She was

a member of First United Methodist Church of Sheffield, where

she held many jobs throughout the years.



She is survived by her husband, Bob Steele of Sheffield; two

daughters, Teresa Yelland and her husband, Jeff, of Centerville,

and Kim Wright and her husband, Joel, of Perry; one son, Craig

Steele of Adel; three grandchildren, Josh Yelland, Nandy Steele

and Kaleb Wright; her mother, Henrietta Stoffer, Sheffield; one

brother, Larry Stoffer and his wife, Julie, of Marrietta, Ga;

and one sister, Laura Schroeder and her husband, Ed, of Hampton.



She was preceded in death by her father.

Edna A. Hicks

NORTHWOOD



Edna A. Hicks, 94, of Northwood, formerly of Gordonsville,

Minn., died Thursday (June 5, 1997), at the Lutheran Retirement

Home.



Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the United

Methodist Church, with the Rev. Richard Jensen officiating. Burial

will be in Stateline Cemetery, rural Northwood.



Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday with a public Eastern

Star Service at 6:15 p.m. Sunday by the Northern Light Eastern

Star Chapter of Northwood at the Conner Colonial Chapel, 99-11th

Street So.



Visitation will also be one hour prior to service time on Monday

at the church.



Edna A. Hicks was born on Nov. 19, 1902, in Muscatine, the daughter

of Peter and Johanna (Koester) Umlandt.



She attended and received her education in the Muscatine school

system.



After completing her schooling, she worked with her parents

in a Pearl Button Factory along the Mississippi River.



She was united in marriage to Ford S. Hicks on Oct. 27, 1927,

at the Lutheran Parsonage in Muscatine. He preceded her in death

in March of 1975.



In 1930, they moved to Clarks Grove, Minn., and in 1936, they

moved to Gordonsville, Minn., where she worked in the cafeteria

in the Albert Lea, Minn., school system for 18 years until her

retirement.



She also resided at the Northwood Hotel for 11 years and had

been a resident of the Lutheran Retirement Home in Northwood

for the past nine years.



She enjoyed gardening and traveling to Texas and was also very

active in the Methodist Church in Gordonsville, Minn.



She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Northwood,

former member of the United Methodist Church in Gordonsville.

Minn., where she had been a member for over 50 years and was

a member and former officer in the Northern Light Chapter of

the Eastern Star in Northwood.



Survivors include two daughters, Shirley Rygmyr and her husband,

Donne, of Fort Scott, Kan., and Beverly Pangburn and her husband,

Buck, of Northwood; four grandchildren, Tom Rygmyr, Roxanne Dankenbring,

Susan McManness and Donald Pangburn; 10 great-grandchildren;

as well as other relatives and friends.



Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents;

two brothers, Otto and George Umlandt; and one sister, Matilda

Thompson.

Daniel Weaver  

ORCHARD



Daniel Weaver, 14-month-old son of Noah and Erma Weaver,

3337 Valley Ave., died Thursday (June 5, 1997) at the Mitchell

County Regional Health Center, Osage.



Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at the Cedar

Valley Mennonite Church, 320th St., Orchard. Burial will be in

the church cemetery.



Visitation will be held from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Noah

Weaver Home and from 9 until 11 a.m. Monday.



The Hauser Funeral Home, 1205 S. Main St., Charles City, is

in charge of arrangements.



Daniel Zimmerman Weaver was born March 10, 1996, at Orchard,

the son of Noah and Erma Zimmerman Weaver.



Survivors include his parents; six brothers, Alvin, Nathan,

Irvin, Andrew, Noah Jr. and Jason, all at home; and two sisters,

Lydia and Annetta, both at home; paternal grandparents; maternal

grandparents; and maternal great-grandparents.

Lillian Myli  

NORTHWOOD



Lillian Myli, 90, of Northwood, died Thursday (June

6, 1997) at the Lutheran Retirement Home, Northwood.



Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the First

Lutheran Church, Northwood, with the Rev. Mark Bents and the

Rev. Allan Stoa officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Rest Cemetery.



Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Schroeder

& Sites Funeral Home, Highway 65 S., Northwood, and one hour

prior to services on Monday at the church.



She was born March 31, 1907 at Barnum, Minn., to George and

Doris (Harms) Weidler.



She married Philip Myli on Dec. 22, 1926.



They raised two daughters, Margaret and Phyllis; and two sons,

Harvey and Ronald.



The Myli's farmed almost all their married life in Worth County.



Lillian enjoyed having company and serving them coffee and things

she baked.



She enjoyed her garden, flowers and stawberry bed out on the

farm. She enjoyed crocheting when she could see.



Her grandchildren and their visits and overnight stays were

also very special to her.



While in the retirement home, she was glad to be able to go

to the church services.



Lillian was a member of the First Lutheran Church, in Northwood.



Survivors include one daughter, Margaret Plagge and her husband,

Herbert, of Latimer; two sons, Harvey Myli and his wife, Shirley,

of Waterloo; and Ronald Myli and his wife, Diane, of Northwood;

17 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; one stepgreat-grandson.



She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Philip; a

daughter, Phyllis; and a grandson, Darrell Plagge; three brothers;

and three sisters.

Betty Hanson  

NORA SPRINGS



Betty Hanson, 74, of Nora Springs, died Thursday

(June 5, 1997) at home.



Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Rock Creek

Lutheran Church, rural Osage, with the Rev. Roger Hoppenworth

officiating. Inurnment of cremains will be in the Rock Creek

Cemetery.



There will be no visitation. Champion Funeral Home, Osage, is

in charge of arrangements.



Memorials may be directed to Hospice of North Iowa.



She was born April 7, 1923, in Detroit, Mich., the daughter

of James and Hattie (Mester) McPherson.



She attended Detroit Schools and graduated from high school

there.



She was employed by Kerns Department Store in Detroit.



Betty married Arnold Hanson on July 13, 1946, in Detroit.



They farmed in rural Osage until retiring in 1978 and moving

to Nora Springs.



Betty was an active member of Rock Creek Lutheran Church, Church

Circle and Church Choir. She was a member of the Nora Springs

Library Board.



She is survived by her husband, Arnold Hanson, of Nora Springs;

a daughter, Linda Maas and her husband, Willard, of Parkston,

S.D.; two sons, Donald Hanson and his wife, Jo, of Center Point,

and Richard Hanson and his wife, Patricia, of Des Moines; two

sisters, Dorothy Moosekian and her husband, Joseph of Marine

City, Mich., and Helen Braun and her husband, Frank, of Fenton,

Mich.; a brother, James McPherson and his wife, Jane, of Cheboygan,

Mich.; and 14 grandchildren.



He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers.

Beulah A. Schaefer 

DUMONT



Beulah A. Schaefer, 83, of Dumont, died Thursday (June

5, 1997) at the Franklin General Hospital, Hampton.



Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Dumont

Reformed Church, with the Rev. Carl Gearhart officiating. Burial

will be in the Hampton Cemetery.



Visitation will be held from 2 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the Sietsema-Vogel

Funeral Home, Dumont.



Beulah was born Sept. 27, 1913, at Parkersburg.



Survivors include her husband, Ezra Schaefer, Dumont; one daughter,

Gail Linahon, Garner; two sons, Howard Schaefer, Reed Springs,

Mo., and Robert Schaefer, Hampton; one brother, Ralph Kothe,

Colorado Springs, Colo.; eight grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren;

11 great-grandchildren; 11 stepgreat-grandchildren; and one great-

great-grandchild.



She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and one

sister.

Karl Kirchgatter, 66, of Carpenter, died Wednesday

City.



Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. at the United Methodist

Church, St. Ansgar, with the Rev. Robert Lemmermann officiating.

Burial will be in the St. Ansgar Cemetery.



Visitation will begin after 2 p.m. Sunday at the Champion Funeral

Home, Osage.



Survivors include two sons, Kenneth Kirchgatter, of Bloomington,

Minn., and Tom Kirchgatter, of Mason City; one brother, Earl

Kirchgatter, St. Ansgar; and one sister, Bernice Edgar, Rock

Falls; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.



He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, one sister and

one brother.

Joel T. Hopkins  

HIAWATHA



Joel T. Hopkins, 51, of 4010 Hummingbird Lane, Hiawatha,

died Wednesday (June 4, 1997) at his home of heart disease.



Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Faith

Lutheran Church, Marion, with the Rev. Charles Colberg officiating.

Entombment will be at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories Mausoleum.



Friends may call from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Cedar Memorial Funeral

Home, 4200 First Ave. N.E., Cedar Rapids, and after 9:30 a.m.

at the church on Monday.



A memorial fund has been established.



Joel was born on Aug. 20, 1945, in Melvin, the son of Owen and

Joyce Clarke Hopkins.



He married Nancy C. Felt on July 18, 1970, in St. Ansgar.



Joel was an accountant for several years in the Cedar Rapids

area.



He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church and was very involved

at Kennedy High School.



Survivors include his wife, Nancy Hopkins; a son, Joshua of

Cedar Rapids; and a sister, Judy Lensing, of Fredericksburg.



He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Philip.

Keith E. Neal

CLEAR LAKE



Keith E. Neal, 74, of 413 First Ave. S., died Friday (June

6, 1997) at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City.



Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Ward-Van

Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 N. Fourth St., with the Rev. Fred

Lewis officiating. Inurnment services will be held at a later

date in Memorial Park Cemetery, Mason City.



Visitation will be held from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral

home, and one hour prior to the services on Tuesday.



Memorials may be given to Hospice of North Iowa or the Clear

Lake United Methodist Church in memory of Keith E. Neal.



Keith E. Neal was born Dec. 5, 1922, at Clear Lake, the son

of Evert ``Heinie'' and Manilla Bay (Fromm) Neal. He received

his education in the Clear Lake schools, graduating in 1940.



His hobbies as a youth were photography and developing his photos,

radio and woodworking.



He became an Eagle Scout, was the president of the Eagle Scout

Club, and later in life was a Scout leader.



Keith was employed in the family business, Neal the Cleaners,

until he entered the U.S. Air Force on Oct. 19, 1942. He spent

almost four years stationed in various parts of the United States,

receiving technical training at the University of Chicago and

Truax Field in Madison, Wis.



He returned home after his military service and became a partner

in the family business.



On May 19, 1950, he married Bernice Heitland at the United Methodist

CHurch parsonage, Clear Lake.



In April 1961, the cleaners moved into a new building at 413

First Ave. S., and Keith and Bernice operated it along with their

daughter until their retirement in 1989.



In recent years, Keith enjoyed corresponding with old friends.



At one time Keith was active in Jaycees, was a member of the

Lions, later a Rotarian, a 50-year lodge member of the American

Legion, and a member of the Clear Lake United Methodist Church.



Survivors include his wife, Bernice Neal, Clear Lake; one daughter,

Karen Neal, Clear Lake; one sister, Donna Butler and her husband,

Don, Thornton; and nine nieces and nephews.



He was preceded in death by his parents.

Myra Eastman

CLEAR LAKE



Myra Eastman, 82, of 512 Eighth Ave. N., died Saturday

(June 7, 1997) at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason

City.

Michael Hyde

FERTILE _ Michael Hyde, 36, died Saturday (June 7, 1997) at North Iowa Mercy Health Center East, Mason City.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Church of Christ with the Rev. Dennis Ganz officiating. Burial will be in the Clear Lake Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Petersen Lund Funeral Home, Forest City.

Michael Hyde was born Oct. 30, 1960, in Forest City.

Survivors include his parents, Sheilah Hyde of Forest City and Dale Hyde of Fertile; four sisters, Delia Hyde of Laguna Beach, Calif., Donna Rezendes of Niceville, Fla., and June Lackore of and Jamie Hyde, both of Forest City; and two brothers, Brian Patrick Hyde of Fertile and Jeffrey Hyde of Las Vegas, Nev.

He was preceded in death by an infant sister.

Myra Aileen (York) Eastman

CLEAR LAKE _ Myra Aileen (York) Eastman, 82, a longtime Clear Lake resident, died Saturday (June 7, 1997) at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the United Methodist Church with the Rev. Fred Lewis officiating. Burial will be in the Clear Lake Cemetery.

Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. today with a public Rebekah_s service at 7 p.m. by members of Tina Rebekah Lodge No. 105 of Clear Lake at the Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 N. Fourth St. Visitation will also be one hour prior to service time on Tuesday at the church.

There will be a memory box at the funeral home and church for you to share your memories of Myra with the family.

The family of Myra Aileen (York) Eastman has requested that memorial contributions be made to the United Methodist Church in Clear Lake, or to the Muse Nrris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City in her memory.

Myra Aileen (York) Eastman was born on Oct. 9, 1914, in Clear River, Minn., the daughter of Harry and Emmeline Nettie (Reinhart) York. She received her education in the Warroad, Minn., shools, graduating from Warroad High School in 1932, and began teaching country school at the age of 16. She graduated from Bemidji State Teachers College in 1938, and taught school in Williams and Staples, Minn. While teaching in Staples she met her future husband, Donald Spilman Eastman, and was united in marriage on Sept. 20, 1946. They made their home in Clear Lake. He preceded her in death in February, 1985.

Myra was a substitute teacher in Clear Lake for many years, and was also a Brownie Scout leader. She also helped her husband Dan at the grain elevator during harvest. In more recent years she had been active in the United Methodist Church Altar Guild, Ruth Circle, Clear Lake Women_s Club, Craft Club, Methodist Lunch Bunch and the Double F (Fat Fighters) Club. She was also a member of the Tina Rebekah Lodge #105 of Clear Lake.

Survivors include her daughter, Miriam Eden and her husband, Jim, of Mason City; stepdaughter, Millus Charlson of Waterloo; sister, Ada Gifford Simons of Rosedale, Minn.,; brother, Harold York of Bemidji, Minn.; niece, Linda York Bowman of Bemidji; sister-in-law, Violet White Larson of Clear Lake; stepgrandchildren, Steve Charlson of Waterloo, Anne Hatoum and her husband, Nassir, of West Des Moines; Carolyn Ferry and her husband, Mark, of Fort Dodge, Susan Charlson of Fort Dodge, and Chris and Lori Eden, Brett and Kim Eden and Jason Eden, all of Mason City; as well as many nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Myra was preceded in death by her parents; parents-in-law, Earl and Annie Eastman; husband, Donald Spilman Eastman in February, 1985; stepson, Earl James Eastman; brother, Alan York; sisters-in-law, Carroll Baago and Carol York; brothers-in-law, Clarence Gifford, F. Wesley Simons and Robert White Sr.; nephew, Robert White Jr.; and step-grandson, Scott James Eden.

Myra will be joyfully remembered and sadly missed.

Gladys A. Mikelson

BELMOND _ Gladys A. Mikelson, 98, died Saturday (June 7, 1997) at the Belmond Community Hospital.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete at the Tenold Funeral Home.

Scott Foell

CLARKSVILLE _ Scott Foell, 28, died Saturday (June 7, 1997) in Clarksville.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Zion-St. John Lutheran Church, Sheffield, with the Rev. Kent Mechler officiating. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery, Sheffield.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the Grarup Funeral Home, Sheffield.

Scott Foell was born May 16, 1969, in Mason City.

Survivors include his mother, Dorothy Foell of Sheffield; one sister, Susan Rust of Britt; and two brothers, Douglas of Sheffield and Steve of Mason City.

He was preceded in death by his father and grandparents.

Robert J. Bloch

CEDAR RAPIDS _ Robert J. Bloch, 71, of 1136 Clifton St. N.E., died at his home on Sunday (June 8, 1997) after a long illness.

Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Cedar Valley Bible Church, Cedar Rapids. Burial will be held at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery, Mason City. Teahen Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

A memorial fund has been established for the Cedar Valley Bible Church and the American Diabetes Association of Iowa.

Robert J. Bloch was born June 4, 1926, in Cedar Falls. He married Elizabeth K. Church on Nov. 9, 1952, in Mason City. He retired in 1989 as a plant manager for Harnischfeger where he worked for 35 years. He was a member of Cedar Valley Bible Church, the Danish Brotherhood and the Alzheimer Association. He was an Army veteran of World War II.

Mr. Bloch is survived by his wife, Elizabeth; a son, Jonathan Bloch of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; two daughters, Deborah Bloch of South Bend, Ind., and Sandy Salsbury of Stryker, Ohio; one brother, Donald Bloch of Waterloo; and five granddaughters, Kate, Racheal, Meagan, Kimberly and Amanda.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Bernice Gutknecht.

John E. E. Ellis

MASON CITY _ John E. E. Ellis, 73, died Sunday (June 8, 1997) at North Iowa Mercy Health Center.
