Wednesday, Feb. 5, 1997, at the Light and Life Auditorium at

the Broen Memorial Home, Fergus Falls, Minn., with the Rev. Harland

Helland, the Rev. Richard Rogness and the Rev. Rollin Rogness

officiating.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Glende-

Johnson-Nelson & Nilson Funeral Home, Fergus Falls, Minn., and

from 9 a.m. to the time of services at the Light and Life Auditorium

at the Broen Memorial Home on Wednesday.

There will also be a funeral service at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb.

6, 1997, at Bethel Lutheran Brethren Church, Joice, with the

Rev. Elwin Walvatne, the Rev. Richard Rogness and the Rev. Rollin

Rogness officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery, Joice.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until time of services on Thursday

at the church.

The Glende-Johnson-Nelson & Nilson Funeral Home, Fergus Falls,

Minn., is in charge of arrangements.

Luella Rogness was born Dec. 26, 1901, to Torkel and Caroline

(Sveen) Brua on the family farm near Emmons, Minn. Luella was

the youngest of nine children and was the last to survive her

siblings.

She was reared on the farm and attended school in this southern

Minnesota community.

For a brief time in her early childhood, she moved with her

family to a homestead in northwestern North Dakota but returned

to southern Minnesota after three years due to family illness.

In 1923, she married Henry Rogness of rural Emmons, Minn. They

farmed near Emmons, Minn., for a short time before moving to

farm near Joice, in the early 1930s. During their years of farming

in southern Minnesota and northern Iowa, they reared their family

of seven children.

Leulla was a dedicated wife, a model mother and an excellent

homemaker with many interests throughout her life.

She loved flowers and always had picture-book flower beds and

productive vegetable gardens.

She was always interested in getting new starter ``slips'' of

flowers from others and seldom failed in getting them to flourish

and bloom.

She was creative and innovative and enjoyed doing hand crafts.

She loved music, and though not accomplished, she enjoyed playing

the piano, the guitar and the autoharp.

A devout Christian, she taught her children at her knee and

nurtured them along their spiritual journey. More often than

can be counted, Luella was often found on her knees in prayer

for her children and loved ones. She was not highly educated

but was well taught through the Word of God at the feet of her

Lord, the tutor of her life of faith.

She was a charter member of Bethel Lutheran Brethren Church,

rural Joice. Seldom did she miss a service of worship, an evangelistic

meeting, the prayer meeting, the Bible study, the Ladies Aid

or the Sunday school hour. Her home was always open to those

in ministry. She loved to see souls saved and had a heart for

missions.

A paramount prayer and longing of her heart was to see souls

saved and made ready for the Lord's return. To paraphrase that

heart cry, one would often hear her pray ``Lord, may none of

our loved ones be missing on that day when you shall return.''

Luella has entered her heavenly home and now awaits the reunion

with those whom she loved so dearly. May we all be ready for

that glorious day of reunion.

On Thursday, Jan. 30, 1997, Luella passed away at the Broen

Memorial Home in Fergus Falls, Minn., at the age of 95 years.

She is survived by six sons, LaVern (Eileen) Rogness, the Rev.

Richard (Agnes) Rogness and Glenn (Vonnie) Rogness, all of Fergus

Falls, Minn.; the Rev. Rollin (Mary Lou) Rogness of Minot, N.D.,

Burdean (Kay) Rogness of Edina, Minn., and Kennis (Dixie) Rogness

of Des Moines; one daughter, Mureen (Dewane) Roath of Mason City;

33 grandchildren; 66 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren;

and a host of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry; an infant son,

at Lutheran Brethren Schools in Fergus Falls, Minn.
