Leland M. Osslund

MASON CITY _ Leland M. Osslund, 86, of 515 18th St. S.E., died Sunday (Aug. 10, 1997) at the Muse-Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Trinity Lutheran Church.

Other funeral arrangements are incomplete at Major-Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave.

Robert M. "Bob" Thomas

NICEVILLE, Fla. _ Robert M. "Bob" Thomas, 64, formerly of Mason City, died Sunday (Aug. 10, 1997) in Biloxi, Miss.

There will be no visitation or funeral service. The body was cremated. Riemann Funeral Home in Gulfport, Miss., is in charge of arrangements.

Robert M. Thomas was born May 17, 1933, in Mason City. For the past eight years he had been a resident of Niceville. He graduated from Iowa State University with a degree in electrical engineering. He retired from Boeing Aircraft Corporation in Seattle, Wash., in 1989.

Survivors include three sons, William Bronson Thomas and Michael Chandler Thomas, both of San Francisco, Calif., and Andrew Robert Thomas of Windham, Maine; one daughter, Alexandra Dorthea Thomas of Edmonds, Wash.; his mother, Mrs. Ruth Reasor of Mason City; one stepbrother, Lynn Avery Reasor of Sigourney; one stepsister, Rene_ Jo Saldana of Salina, Kan.; and one grandchild.

Esther Thompson

NORTHWOOD _ Esther Thompson, 98, died Friday (Aug. 8, 1997) at the Manly Nursing and Rehab Center.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today at the United Methodist Church with the Rev. Richard Jensen officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Rest Cemetery.

Friends may call from 1 p.m. until service time at the church.

The family of Esther Thompson has requested that memorial contributions be made to the United Methodist Church in Northwood in her memory.

Esther Thompson was born on Feb. 4, 1899, the daughter of Ole and Ingebor (Albert) Hall, in Annandale, Minn. When she was quite young they moved to Mohall, N.D., where she attended school. She also lived in Albert Lea, Minn., where she was a waitress in a restaurant.

She was united in marriage to Arleigh R. Thompson on Aug. 14, 1920, in Mason City. He preceded her in death on April 14, 1970. After their marriage, they moved to Northwood, and together they were caretakers at Sunset Rest Cemetery in Northwood for 30 years. Esther had been a resident of the Manly Nursing and Rehab Center in Manly since December 1995.

She enjoyed bingo, playing cards, flowers and gardening.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Northwood, and in her earlier years was very active in the church circle. She also was a member of the North Stars in Northwood.

Survivors include one sister, Julia Johnson, of Largo, Fla.; two nieces, Shirley Evenson of Rochester, Minn., and Joan Anderson of Egan, Minn.; one nephew, Bruce Hall of Cottage Grove, Minn.; as well as other relatives and friends.

Besides her husband, she was also preceded in death by her parents; son, Donald Thompson, who died in 1937; four sisters; and one brother.

Charlotte Luick

THORNTON _ Charlotte Luick, 84, died Saturday (Aug. 9, 1997) at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jim Gochenouer officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Grarup Funeral Home.

Charlotte Luick was born April 10, 1913, in Burchinal.

Survivors include two daughters, Mardelle Sorensen of Mesa, Ariz., and Sherryl Joines of Spirit Lake; one son, L.M. "Bud" Luick of Mason City; three sisters, Cleo Gullickson and Edna Hansen, both of Northwood, and Hazel Troe of Hampton; 15 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one daughter, one grandson, two sisters and one brother.

Ginger Matz

BERTHOUD, Colo. _ Funeral services were held Tuesday, Aug. 5, for Ginger Matz, 30, of Berthoud, Colo., formerly of the Rockwell and Mason City areas.

She was killed instantly July 31, in a head-on collision involving her car and a semi-truck on I-25 in Weld County, Colo.

Services were held at the Kibbey-Fishburn Funeral Chapel in Loveland, Colo., with Pastor Jim Coleman of the Abundant Life Church of Berthoud officiating. Cremation was conducted following the services.

A trust fund has been set up for her little girls. Condolences to her family may be sent to Andrew Matz, 809 Greenwood Drive., Berthound, Colo. 80513.

She was born Sept. 10, 1966, in Flandreau, S.D., then adopted in 1968, by Duane and Audrey Huff, of Mason City, Iowa. She attended schools in Rockwell and Mason City.

Ginger married Andrew Matz on May 17, 1997, in Berthoud, Colo. She had been attending Front Range Community College and was working in a Nurse Pool Program caring for the elderly.

She is survived by her husband, Andrew Matz; and her two little girls, Jasmine, age 10, and Josilyn, age 7, all of Berthoud, Colo.; her parents, Duane and Audrey Huff, of Mason City; grandparents, Viva and Beatrice Dyre of Mason City; her sister, B'Ann of Bay City, Texas; brothers, Cliff and his wife, Norma, of St. Cloud, Minn., Ed and his wife, Wylene of Bay City, Texas; Fred and his wife, Pam, of Mason City; nieces and nephews; Zeke, Alyson, Adam, Andrea, Trey, Zachary and Brandy; Gingers' natural sister, Anita, and her two boys, of Gardners, Pa.; her mother and father-in-law, Karl and Mary Matz, of Boulder, Colo.; a brother-in-law; and four sisters-in-law; and their families.

She was preceded in death by her natural parents, Karl and Juanita (Wabasha) Leithoff.

Louise Q. Greiman

MT. PLEASANT _ Louise Q. Greiman, 82, of Mt. Pleasant, formerly of Garner, died Saturday (Aug. 9, 1997) at Pleasant Manor Care Center.

There will be no visitation. According to her wishes, her body has been cremated. Her cremains will be buried at a later date.

Elliott Chapel, New London, Iowa, was in charge of arrangements.

Louise Q. Greiman was born Jan. 7, 1915, in New London, the daughter, of Herbert Beyer and Martha Simmons Beyer.

She graduated from New London High School in 1932. She was a 1942 graduate of the University of Iowa Law School.

She married Floyd Greiman on Jan. 23, 1960, in Mason City, Iowa. Her husband died May 23, 1986.

She was a criminal lawyer in private practice in Garner, Iowa for many years. She was a legal assistant to needy persons.

She was a member of the Presbyterian Church, Garner.

She was a member of the Iowa State Bar Association. She worked for many charitable organizations and was very politically active throughout her life.

She is survived by one brother, Dr. George Beyer, Bell Buckle, Tenn.; and two sisters, Thelma Jaste, of Bell Buckle, Tenn., and Bertha Mathews, Mt. Pleasant; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and one brother, Dr. Damon P. Beyer.

Memorials may be given to the University of Iowa Law School, in her memory.

Milford McPeak

RENWICK _ Milford McPeak, 73, of Renwick, died Monday (Aug. 11, 1997) at the Belmond Community Hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Renwick United Methodist Church.

Arrangements are incomplete at the Garry-Roberts-Murphy-Schaaf Funeral Home, Renwick.

Charlotte Luick

THORNTON _ Charlotte Luick, 84, of Thornton, passed away Saturday (Aug. 9, 1997) at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the United Methodist Church, Thornton, with the Rev. Jim Gochenouer, officiating. Interment will be in Pleasant View Cemetery, Thornton.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the Grarup Funeral Home, Thornton.

Memorials may be given to the United Methodist Church in her memory.

Charlotte Adelia Luick was born April 10, 1913, in Burchinal, the daughter of Nick and Lottie (Moorehead) Juhl.

She attended Rockwell Public School and graduated in 1931. She was united in marriage to Donald Luick, Aug. 12, 1934, at the Little Brown Church, in Nashua.

They farmed in the Thornton area until Donald's death in 1966. She moved into Thornton where she resided until her death.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church, taught Sunday School and was a member of U.M.W.

She is survived by her son, L.M. "Bud" Luick and his wife, Phyllis, of Mason City; her two daughters, Mardelle Sorensen and her husband, Charles, Mesa, Ariz., and Sherryl Joines, Spirit Lake; 15 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Cleo Gullickson and Edna Hansen, both of Northwood, and Hazel Troe, Hampton; and one sister-in-law, Velma Jacobson, and her husband, Hans, of Thornton.

She was preceded in death by her husband, daughter, grandson, two sisters, one brother, and her parents.

Leland M. Osslund

MASON CITY _ Leland M. Osslund, 86, of 515 18th St. S.E., died Sunday (Aug. 10, 1997) at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Trinity Lutheran Church, 213 N. Pennsylvania Ave. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave., and one hour prior to services at the church.

Memorials may be given to the Leland M. Osslund Memorial Fund.

Leland M. Osslund was born Dec. 5, 1910, in Mason City, the son of John and Dena (Peterson) Osslund.

Leland graduated from Mason City High School in 1928.

He married Vera Peterson on March 5, 1940, in Mason City.

Leland worked 35 years for Jefferson Bus Lines as a bus driver driving charters all over the United States.

He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, loved the outdoors, children, fishing and gardening.

Lee will be sadly missed, adoringly remembered and never forgotten by those he cared so much about.

Survivors include his wife, Vera Osslund, of Mason City; daughter, Cheryl Chase, of Mason City; grandchildren, Kimberly Kline, of Mason City; Kellie Chase, of Mason City; and Kristal Chase, of Minneapolis, Minn.; great-grandchildren, Jason, Brandon and Kaitlyn Kline, Brooke Fuchs, and Kearin Chase; two brothers, Marvin Osslund, Clear Lake, and Norman Osslund, of Thousand Oaks, Calif.; and one sister, Leona Penney, of Mason City; as well as many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Bertha Duggan; and one sister in infancy.

Madelyn "Mindy" Meyerhofer

OSAGE _ Madelyn "Mindy" Meyerhofer, 47, died Monday (Aug. 11, 1997) at the Mitchell County Regional Health Center, Osage.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, with the Rev. Philip Recker, officiating. There will be no burial. Cremation will take place after services.

Visitation will be held after 7 p.m. today at the Champion Funeral Home, Osage, with a 7:30 p.m. Scripture service.

Madelyn "Mindy" Meyerhofer was born Jan. 30, 1950, in Osage.

Survivors include her husband, Donald Meyerhofer, Osage; two sons, Robert Meyerhofer and Michael Meyerhofer, both of Iowa City; parents, Joseph and Lois Mostek, Mitchell; four sisters, Marcia Chrysler of Atlanta, Ga., Maureen Havlovic of Lewis, Connie Chapman of Chicago, Ill., and Julie Anne Kuhl, Lake Bluff, Ill.; three brothers, Joseph Mostek, James Mostek and Daniel Mostek, all of Mitchell.

She was preceded in death by her paternal and maternal grandparents.

Clifton Copas

CLEAR LAKE _ Clifton Copas, 71, of 815 S. Eighth St., died Monday (Aug. 11, 1997) at his home.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Patrick_s Catholic Church, Clear Lake, with Monsignor Joseph J. Slepicka officiating. Interment will be in Clear Lake Cemetery.

Visitation begins after 3 p.m. Thursday at the Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 N. Fourth St., with a Scriptural wake at 8:15 p.m.

Clifton was born Sept. 12, 1925, in Mitchell, S.D., the son of Joseph and Gladys (Benson) Copas.

He moved with his folks at an early age to Britt. He graduated from Britt High School. After graduating from high school, he served in the U.S. Navy on the U.S.S. St. Louis as a seaman_s first class during World War II. He was awarded the American Area Ribbon, Victory medal, Asiatic Pacific Ribbon, seven stars, and the Philippine Liberation Ribbon, one star.

Clifton married Virginia Johnson on Feb. 9, 1945, in Fairmont, Minn. They lived in Britt where he drove truck for Newberger Trucking out of Wesley. They moved to Clear Lake in 1962. Clifton drove truck for Stockberger Trucking, Mason City, until his retirement.

Clifton enjoyed family gatherings and picnics. He was a member of St. Patrick_s Catholic Church and the 828 Teamsters Union.

Clifton is survived by his wife, Virginia Copas, Clear Lake; 10 children, Louetta Best, Clear Lake; Edward Copas and his wife, Kolene, Las Vegas, Nev.; Diane Allen, Mason City; Douglas Copas and his wife, Jo, Salina, Kan.; Altha Garfin and her husband, Andy, Litchfield, Minn.; Gregory Copas and his wife, Debbie, Glencoe, Minn.; Vincent Copas, Clear Lake; Phillip Copas, of Opportunity Village, Clear Lake; Monica VerHelst and her husband, Don, Mason City; and Timothy Copas and his wife, Suzanne, Ventura; 26 grandchildren; six great grandchildren; his mother, Gladys Copas, Britt; one brother, Bill Copas and his wife, LaVonne, Salina, Kan..

He was preceded in death by his father in 1961; and one son, Thomas Copas in 1985.

Vernelle Bilsborough

TITONKA _ Vernelle Bilsborough, 82, 3107 20th Ave., Titonka, died Tuesday (Aug. 12, 1997) at home.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the United Methodist Church, Titonka, with the Rev. Timm Wilkin officiating. Burial will be in the Buffalo Township Cemetery.

Visitation will begin after 4 p.m. today at the Garry-Roberts-Murphy-Schaaf Funeral Home, Titonka.

Vernelle Bilsborough was born Aug. 24, 1914, in Titonka.

Survivors include her husband, Maurice, Titonka; sons, Arlen Bilsborough, San Jose, Calif., Lowell Bilsborough, Littleton, Colo., and Claude Bilsborough, Titonka; one daughter, Lennice Harms, Titonka; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and one sister, Lela Schlei, Fenton.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers.

Barbara B. Ransom

CLEAR LAKE _ Barbara B. Ransom, 71, of 1105 Eighth Ave. Court. S., died Tuesday (Aug. 12 1997) at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City.

There will be no visitation. Her body was cremated.

Memorial services are tentatively scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday at the Clear Lake United Methodist Church, 508 Second Ave. N., with the Rev. Fred Lewis officiating.

Other arrangements are incomplete at the Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 N. Fourth St., Clear Lake.

Nicholas V. Wagner

ALGONA _ Nicholas V. Wagner, 74, of Algona, died Tuesday (Aug. 12, 1997) at the Kossuth Regional Health Center.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Cecelia_s Catholic Church, with the Rev. Steve Brodersen officiating. Burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery.

Visitation will begin after 2 p.m. today at the Wilson Funeral Home, 403 E. McGregor, with a 3 p.m. Guild rosary and a 7:30 p.m. Scripture reading.

Nicholas V. Wagner was born April 6, 1923, in Kossuth County.

Survivors include five sisters, Ann Wagner, Algona, Florence Frahm, Humboldt, Genevieve Klein, Dakota City, Margaret Rezabek and Kathrine Aman, both of Algona; and two brothers, William Wagner of Algona, and Joseph Wagner, of Wesley.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and two sisters.

Barbara B. Ransom

CLEAR LAKE _ Barbara B. Ransom, 71, of 1105 Eighth Ave. Court South, died Tuesday (Aug. 12, 1997) at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City.

There will be no visitation. Her body was cremated.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Clear Lake United Methodist Church, 508 Second Ave. N., with the Rev. Fred Lewis officiating.

Memorials may be given to the Barbara B. Ransom Memorial Fund.

Barbara Beatrice Ransom was born Jan. 28, 1926, at Gary, Ind., the daughter of Robert and Sally (Burdick) Burton. She received her education in Mason City schools.

On Aug. 27, 1947, she married James A. Ransom at Clear Lake.

Barbara loved her family, her church and her many friends in the community. For the past 13 years, she volunteered her help at the Methodist Church, and for many years, helped at the Oakwood Care Center, where her mother resides.

Barbara enjoyed her bridge and 500 clubs, was a member of the Clear Lake VFW Auxiliary, and also was a member of the Clear Lake Library Board.

Barbara was a wonderful person and will be missed, but forever remembered by her family and friends.

Barbara is survived by her husband, James Ransom, Clear Lake; her mother, Sally Burdick, Clear Lake; one daughter, Sue Harris, Scottsdale, Ariz.; one son, Michael Ransom, and his wife, Jeanine, and their son, Benjamin, Rochester, Minn.; one sister, Bonnie Forzand, and her husband, Dick, East Liverpool, Ohio; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father, Robert; and one grandson, Tyler.

Mervin D. Muhlenbruch

THORNTON _ Mervin D. Muhlenbruch, 71, of Thornton, died Wednesday (Aug. 13, 1997) at the Muse Norris Inpatient Unit, Mason City.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Swaledale United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Bruce Witters officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery, Thornton.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Grarup Funeral Home, Thornton.

Mervin D. Muhlenbruch was born on Oct. 10, 1925, the son of John and Laura (Stadtlander) Muhlenbruch.

He attended the Swaledale School system before graduating from the Thornton High School. He entered the United States Army in the fall of 1946 serving with the Occupational Forces until his discharge in May of 1947.

Upon his return home, he worked for G.A. Eddy of Swaledale and Deckers in Mason City until starting to farm in 1949.

He was united in marriage to Adeline Gruis in November of 1948. They farmed all of his life around the Swaledale and Thornton area until retiring in 1993.

Merv enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, golfing and having coffee with his friends.

He was a member of the Swaledale United Methodist Church, AMVETS of Clear Lake and the Thornton Lions Club.

He is survived by his wife, Adeline of Thornton; two daughters, Kay Squier and her husband, Wayne, and Nancy Payton and her husband, Ron; one son, Brian Muhlenbruch and his wife, Pam, all of Thornton; six grandchildren, Michele (Squier) Smuck and her husband, Matt, and Amy, Dana, and Laura Payton, and Trisha and Cole Muhlenbruch; two great-grandchildren, Derek and Andrew Smuck; one brother, Wayne Muhlenbruch and his wife, Alvina, of Clear Lake; two sisters, Irene Dannen and her husband, Else, of Mason City, and Mardene Berding, of Mason City; a special friend, Pat Knutson and her husband, Gary, of Forsythe, Mo.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.

Evelyn L. Beery

MASON CITY _ Evelyn L. Beery, 78, of Fresno, Calif., formerly of Mason City, passed away June 17, 1997, in Fresno, Calif.

The body was cremated. Buchheim Family Home Colonial Chapel, Fresno, Calif., is in charge of arrangements.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at St. James Lutheran Church, 1148 Fourth St. S.E., with the Rev. David Anderson, officiating. Interment will be in Elmwood St. Joseph Cemetery.

She is survived by two daughters, Lucinda Lockle and her husband, Ray, of Bass Lake, Calif., and Carolyn Johnson and her husband, Ernie, of Fresno, Calif.; one grandson, Richard Keough; three great-grandchildren; three brothers, Harold Marsh and his wife, Lillian, Gordon Marsh and his wife, Delores, and Roger Marsh, all of Mason City; two sisters, Patricia McCormick and her husband, Larry, of Fertile, and Shirley Solberg, of Mason City.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one granddaughter.

Yvonne Stratton Lewerke

CLEAR LAKE _ Yvonne Stratton Lewerke, 81, of 808 N. Shore Drive, Clear Lake, died Wednesday (Aug. 13, 1997) at North Iowa Mercy Health Center _ East Campus, Mason City.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 15, 1997, at the Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 N. Fourth St., with Ivan Rogers, officiating. Burial will be in the Rockwell Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the Hogan-Bremer Colonial Chapel, 126 N. Third St., Mason City. Visitation will continue from 8:30 to 10 a.m. Friday at Hogan-Bremer Colonial Chapel. Visitation also will be held starting at 11 a.m. until time of services at Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel.

The family suggests memorials may be made to Hospice of North Iowa.

Yvonne Stratton Lewerke was born Jan. 15, 1916, at McClean, Ill, the daughter of Charles and Dovie (Wise) Stratton.

She spent most of her adult life devoted to the welfare and development of Israel and the Jews, "God_s chosen people." She is now asleep in Jesus awaiting "the hour in which all that are in their graves shall hear his voice and come forth; they that have done good unto the resurrection of life..." John 5:28-29.

Yvonne loved teaching and was employed in the Mason City School District for 10 years. She worked with special needs and mentally challenged children.

Her hobbies included reading, gardening, pulling weeds and watching birds from her window. She also enjoyed the companionship of her dog, Muffin.

She is survived by her two daughters and their husbands, Diane Lewerke Kafer and her husband, Bill, of Manly, Iowa, and Ruth Lewerke Newman and her husband, Jay Newman, of Kensett; three sons, Curtis Lewerke and his wife, Julie, of Clear Lake, Iowa, Dennis Lewerke and his wife, Jodie, of Clear Lake, and Jonathan Lewerke and his wife, JoEllen, of Mason City; two sisters, Laura and her husband, Don Spitler of Mulberry, Ark., and Ruth and her husband, Paul Luttenegger, of Burlington, Iowa; a brother, Sid and his wife, Ruth Stratton, of Burlington; 17 grandchildren, Chris Kafer, Kevin Lewerke, Scott Lewerke, Todd Lewerke, Jayson Newman, Ben Lewerke, Jonathan Lewerke, Cindy Hamlin, Vickie Hunemiller, Tammy Kallenbach, Karen Wistrom, Karla Parker, Lisa Lewerke, Brenda Jacobs, Aimee Kroeger, Jaymie Newman and Jayna Newman; and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Russell, Charles Jr., John Curtis and Calvin; and one grandchild, Kristie Ann Lewerke.

June E. Paulsen

CLEAR LAKE _ June E. Paulsen, 89, of Clear Lake, and formerly of Plainfield, died peacefully in her sleep Tuesday morning (Aug. 12, 1997) at the Good Shepherd Health Care Center, Mason City, where she had lived for the last seven days.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Plainfield United Methodist Church, with Pastor James H. Davis officiating. Burial will be in the Willow Lawn Cemetery, Plainfield.

Friends may call from noon until 8 p.m. today at the Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home, Waverly, with the family greeting friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Visitation also will be for one hour before services on Friday at the church.

Memorials may directed to either the church or to the family.

She was born on June 4, 1908, in Polk Township, Bremer County, Iowa, the daughter of William H. and Lydia (Farr) Good.

June was confirmed at the Methodist Church in Plainfield and graduated from Plainfield High School in 1927.

She then went to work at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn., as a lab technician.

She was united in marriage to Clarence A. Paulsen, on April 21, 1935, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua.

The couple made their home in the Waterloo-Cedar Falls area, and in 1947, moved to Stout, Iowa, where they owned and operated a grocery store for the next two years.

In the spring of 1950, they began farming in the Clarksville-Plainfield area, and farmed until retiring in 1972. They moved to their home in Plainfield; and Clarence died on Sept. 23, 1976.

In 1994, June moved to Clear Lake to be closer to her son and daughter-in-law, Mel and Anita Paulsen, and their family.

She had been a longtime member of the Plainfield United Methodist Church, and was an associate member of the Clear Lake United Methodist Church.

June had served on the Bremer County Council on Aging, was membership roll chairman for the Plainfield United Methodist Church, was active with the Plainfield Senior Citizens, and had been a member of the Eastern Star in Clarksville.

She enjoyed reading, sewing, and fancywork, but most of all, treasured the times spent with her family and many friends.

June is survived by her two sons and their wives, Mel and Anita Paulsen of Burnsville, Minn., Roger and Marion Paulsen of Williston, N.D.; six grandchildren and their spouses, Steve and Robin Paulsen, Linda and Roger Nerdig, Rick and Sherri Paulsen, Randy Paulsen, Mike and Tracy Paulsen, and Terri Paulsen; six great-grandchildren, Amber, Andrew, Shannon, Cody, Jessy and Tyler; one sister, Lucille Briggs, of Waverly; and two brothers and their wives, Willis and Martha Good, of Chariton, Iowa, and Clark and Helen Good, of Nashua; her beloved nieces, nephews and a host of special friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Clarence.

Orv Muller

ALGONA _ Orv Muller, 70, of Algona, died Tuesday (Aug. 12, 1997) at the Kossuth Regional Health Center.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Cecelia Catholic Church, with the Rev. Steve Brodersen officiating.

Burial will be at St. Michael_s Cemetery, Whittemore, with military honors by the Seely-Walsh Legion Post #425.

Visitation will be held from 2:30 until 9 p.m. today at the Geilenfeld-Murphy-Schaaf Funeral Home, Algona, with a 3 p.m. rosary and a 7:30 p.m. prayer service.

Orv was born Feb. 1, 1927, in rural Whittemore.

Survivors include his wife, Wilma, of Algona; five children, Robert Muller, Victoria, Minn., Dan Muller, Whittemore, Carol Salter, of Pella, Lori Beletti, of Algona, and Mary Hall, of Ankeny; 10 grandchildren; one brother, Vern Muller, of Whittemore; and sisters, Ruth Eischen, Whittemore, Jane Scott, of Burt, and Bette Buscher, Algona.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Inez Hood

BANCROFT _ Inez Hood, 83, of Bancroft, died Wednesday (Aug. 13, 1997) at home.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. John Catholic Church, Bancroft, with the Rev. John Thomas officiating. Burial will be in St. John Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 2:30 until 8 p.m. Friday at the Garry-Roberts-Murphy-Schaaf Funeral Home, Bancroft.

Inez was born on June 5, 1914, at Fort Dodge.

Survivors include one brother, William Hood, Algona.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother and two sisters.

ACKLEY _ Lloyd V. Smith, 89, of Ackley, died Tuesday (Aug. 12, 1997) at the Heritage Care Center, Mason City.

Lloyd V. Smith was born Sept. 1, 1907, in El Paso, Ill.

Survivors include four daughters, Beverly Graber of Forest City, Marilyn Wilson of Parkersburg, Elaine Kincaid of Stacy, Minn., and Pam Mills of Little Rock, Ark.; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, parents and one sister.

Adrian Herman Harig

ST. BENEDICT _ Adrian Herman Harig, 77, of St. Benedict, died Thursday (Aug. 14, 1997) at the Algona Manor, Algona.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Benedict Catholic Church, with the Rev. Lynn Bruch officiating. Interment will be in the Calvary Cemetery, Algona, with military graveside services conducted by the V.F.W. Post #2541 and Hagg-Turner Post #90, American Legion, of Algona.

Visitation will begin after 2:30 p.m. today at the Geilenfeld-Murphy-Schaaf Funeral Home, Algona, with a 3 p.m. parish rosary and a 7:30 p.m. parish prayer service. There will be a family prayer service at 9:45 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Adrian Herman Harig was born Aug. 3, 1920, at St. Benedict.

Survivors include his sister, Bernetta Wildin, Algona, and one stepson, Charles Schneider of Algona.
