Susie was a 1918 graduate of Mason City High School.
She married William F. Andres of Rock Falls, Iowa, on Jan. 31,
1921, in the Cerro Gordo County Courthouse.
In the mid 1920s, along with other family members, Bill and
Susie moved to Jamestown, N.D. and farmed a large grain farm
in Buchanan Township. At one time in the 1930s Susie raised from

She helped on the farm by driving the Farmall M and H tractors.
Retiring in the 1950s, they moved to Austin to be near family
and purchased the home that Susie resided in until her passing.
Susie retained good health, except for her bad hearing, up to
the past six months.
Energetic and with an upbeat attitude, she always was ready
to go. Driving around in her most prized possession, a classic
coral pink `61 Oldsmobile Dynamic 88, which even won awards in
the Annual Cedar River Days Classic Car Show, was the highlight
of these later years.
She could be seen out and about daily, going to the restaurants
with family or friends.
She had a passion for beautiful things, especially the colors
of pink, lavendar, and red. Her home was a testimony to her cheerful
tastes.
Fishing in the near East Side Lake and watching the Minnesota
Twins on her TV were two of her most enjoyable hobbies. She knew
all the plays and players and never missed a game.
Susie had her own claim to athletic fame.
In 1917, she was the All State Champion Forward of her Mason
City High School girls basketball team. She often boasted of
this and that her classmate and friend was Meredith Willson.
Her early adult years she spent as a bookkeeper for one of Mason
City's first plumbing companies. Even to her last days, Susie
could add up a column of figures in her head and have the right
answer.
An avid reader of Louis L'Amour, she had read all of his novels.
She is survived by her nephews, Earl Swenson and Calvern Willson
of Austin, Donald McCourt and Thomas McCourt of Mason City, Betty
(McCourt) Mills of Hardy, Ark., Roger Rasmussen of Los Alamos,
