He was elected to the board of directors of the Iowa State Bank

in 1982 and continued to hold that position until 1991.

In 1972, Rex was invited by then Secretary of State Melvin Laird

For the past 24 years, Rex had been an active member,  traveling

to military bases throughout the United States, Central and South

America and Japan.

life. He loved aviation and enjoyed flying both private planes,

as well as being a frequent passenger on commercial planes.

Over the years, Rex enjoyed playing golf, traveling and fishing.

Iowa, and the couple continued to live in Algona.

NOTE:  There were no obituaries received from the Globe Gazette for

March 31, 1996.  It is possible they were not recorded.  It is also possible

there were none.  I didn't check the March 31st paper to see.

March 31, 1996 appears to have been missed. -- Loren Toomsen
