Rafael E. Rodriguez, 44, of Kellogg, died Saturday (March 9,

1996) following injuries received in an automobile accident.



Memorial services are tentatively set for 7 p.m. Tuesday at

Wallace-Pence Funeral Chapel, Newton, and funeral services will

be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Holy Family Catholic Church,

714 N. Adams Ave., Mason City.



Visitation will begin at 4 p.m. Wednesday at Fullerton Patterson

James Funeral Chapel, 123 Second St. S.E., Mason City.



Further arrangements are incomplete at this time.

John E. Meek, 79, of Greene, died Sunday (March 10, 1996) at

the hospice unit of Floyd County Memorial Hospital, Charles City.



A funeral Mass of the Resurrection will be held at 10:30 a.m.

Wednesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Greene, with Monsignor

Walter Brunkan officiating.  Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery

with military rites conducted by Tack Barnett Post 268 American

Legion of Greene.



Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Reid's Funeral

Chapel, 519 N. First St., Greene, where the family will receive

friends from 7 to 9 p.m., with a scriptural wake service at 7:30

p.m. followed by a rosary service.



Those planning an expression of sympathy may direct memorials

to the John E. Meek Memorial Fund in care of the family.



John Edward Meek was born Nov. 19, 1916, in Pleasant Grove Township,

Floyd County.



Survivors include his wife, Lois E. Meek, Greene; four sisters,

Virginia Reams, Charles City, Shirley Schlangen, Lime Springs,

Faith Porter, Bellevue, Neb., and Bonnie Lynch, Greene; and two

brothers, Wayne Meek, Greene, and Donald Meek, Charles City.

Freddie Siems, 74, of Dumont, died Sunday (March 10, 1996) at

Allen Memorial Hospital, Waterloo.

Burial will be in the Oakhill Cemetery, rural Bristow.

Freddie Siems was born April 21, 1921, in Butler County.



Survivors include his wife, Ruth Siems of Dumont; one son, Russell

Siems, Perry; two sisters, Betty Boelts, of Holland, and Marion

Boelts, of Wellsburg; two brothers, Ben and John Siems, both

of Ackley; and two grandchildren.



He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and one

brother.

at home.



Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 13,

at First Baptist Church, Osage, with the Revs. Jerry Newland

and Rose Marie Lewis officiating.  Burial will be held at 3:30

p.m. at Allison Cemetery, Allison.



Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. Tuesday, with the family receiving

friends from 7 to 9 p.m., at Champion Funeral Home, Osage.  Visitation

will continue one hour prior to service time Wednesday at the

church.



Darrel R. Moore was born Sept. 10, 1933, at Cedar Falls.



Survivors include two daughters, Becky Olsen, Lyman, Wyo., and

Tammy Powell, Laramie, Wyo.; one sister, Bernice Pope, Longmont,

Colo.; one brother, Wayne Moore, Casper, Wyo.; and two grandchildren.



He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, two sisters and

three brothers.

Hazel G. Brandau, 96, of St. Ansgar, formerly of Osage, died

Saturday (March 9, 1996) at Good Samaritan Center, St. Ansgar.



Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, at Eden Presbyterian

Church, rural Rudd, with the Rev. John Bates officiating.  Burial

will be in Eden Presbyterian Cemetery.



Visitation will begin at 7:30 p.m. today at Champion Funeral

Home, Osage, and one hour prior to service time Tuesday at the

church.



Memorials may be given to Good Samaritan Center, St. Ansgar,

or Eden Presbyterian Church, rural Rudd.



Hazel G. Brandau was born May 24, 1899, on a farm in Floyd County,

the daughter of Conrad and Sophie (Buckmann) Apel.  She was educated

in country schools and graduated in 1917 from Cedar Valley Seminary,

Osage.  Hazel married Otto Brandau on May 4, 1921, at her parents

home in Nora Springs.  They farmed near Rudd for 40 years, retiring

and moving to Osage in 1960.



Hazel was a lifelong member of Eden Presbyterian Church and

a member of the Culture Club, Rudd.



Survivors include a daughter, Bernice Sweeney, Longwood, Fla.;

a son-in-law, Al Toppin, Clear Lake; seven grandchildren, Dan

Sweeney, Alexandria, Va., Peggy Forbes, Evanston, Ill., Tom Sweeney,

Fern Park, Fla., Brad Toppin, Rudd, Tricia Mullen, Seekonk, Mass.,

Mark Toppin, Plymouth, and Joel Sweeney, Altamonte Springs, Fla.;

and 14 great-grandchildren.

Jeanne Josten, 72, of Clear Lake, died Monday (March 11, 1996)

at her home.



Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St.

Boniface Catholic Church, Garner, with the Rev. John Hemann officiating.

Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Mason City.



Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, with a Catholic

Daughters of the Americas rosary at 4:30 p.m., a Rosary Society

rosary at 7 p.m. and a scriptural wake service at 7:30 p.m.,

at the Cataldo Funeral Chapel, Garner.



Helen Jeanne Josten, a daughter of Charles J. and Minnie (Kenefick)

Engstler, was born March 4, 1924, at Garner.



After graduating from Garner High School in 1943, she worked

at Boeing Aircraft in Seattle, Wash., and Northwestern Bell Telephone

Company in Garner.



On Feb. 18, 1946, she was married to Duane B. Josten at St.

Boniface Catholic Church in Garner.



They farmed southeast of Garner until they retired in the fall

of 1983.



After Duane's death in 1984, she moved into Garner where she

lived until February of 1993, when she moved to the Meadows in

Clear Lake.



Jeanne also worked at Winnebago Industries in Forest City for

13 years, North Iowa Electronics in Garner and Par Products in

Klemme.



She enjoyed her family, grandchildren, crossword puzzles and

playing cards and was an avid Hawkeye fan.



She was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church, Rosary Society

and Catholic Daughters of the Americas.



She is survived by two daughters, Kathleen Ann Lackore and special

friend, Pat Whalen, both of Britt, and Carol Jeanne Harlan and

her husband, Pat, of Clear Lake; five grandchildren, Jason Lackore,

Kelly Lackore, Kristi Lakore, Sean Harlan and Theresa Harlan;

and two brothers, Carl Engstler and his wife, Bertha, of Seattle,

Wash., and Bill Engstler and his wife, Edna, of Payson, Ariz.



She was preceded in death by her husband, Duane Josten, on March

26, 1984; her parents; two brothers, John Engstler and Paul Engstler;

and two sisters, Margaret Greiman and Catherine Foster.

Rafael Escobedo Rodriguez, 44, of 12790 N. 39th Ave. E., Kellogg,

died Saturday (March 9, 1996) following an automobile accident

north of Kellogg.



Two services will be held.



Memorial services are scheduled for 7 p.m. today at the Wallace-Pence

Funeral Chapel, Newton, with the Rev. Mike Johnson of the Kellogg

Christian Church officiating.



Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Holy

Family Church, 714 N. Adams Ave., Mason City, with the Rev. John

Kremer officiating. Interment will be at Elmwood-St. Joseph

Cemetery, Mason City.



Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Fullerton

Funeral Home, 123 Second St. S.E., with a parish wake service

at 7 p.m.



Visitation will continue one hour prior to services at the

new entrance to Holy Family on Thursday.



Rafael was born on March 2, 1952, in San Antonio, Texas, a son

of Guadalupe Sr. and Maria (Escobedo) Rodriguez. He had been

a resident of Kellogg since 1987, living in the area with his

aunt and uncle, Juanita and Leon ``Chester'' Fults, who were

like his own parents.



He attended school in Mason City and then became a fuel truck

driver in Texas. He was also employed for a time  at Con-Agra

in Britt.



For the past six years, he worked for Double D Feeds in Grinnell.



Rafael was skilled in car repairs, and his  hobbies were hunting,

fishing, bowling for the Inter-City League in Grinnell and darts.

He also enjoyed playing blue grass and country music on his guitar.



Rafael is survived by his mother, Maria Rodriguez of Houston,

Texas; one son, Justin Rodriguez of Michigan; five sisters, Cathy

Campbell of Ventura, Delores Orozco of Clear Lake, Mrs. Jose

(Consuelo) Magana of Houston, Francisca Rodriguez of Mason City

and Gloria Rodriguez of St. Paul, Minn.; two brothers, Jose Rodriguez

of Mount Morris, Mich., and Ruperto and his wife, Margaret Rodriguez,

of Sioux City; 25 nieces and nephews,  whom he worshiped, and

five grandnieces and grandnephews.



He was preceded in death by his father and brother, Guadalupe

Rodriguez Sr. and Guadalupe Rodriguez Jr., and his grand parents,

Delores and Jose Escobedo and Ruperto and Martina Rodriguez.

Gladys H. Grap was born Feb. 16, 1914, in Waterloo.



Survivors include four daughters, Marcella Fenske of Las Vegas,

Nev., Phyll Moss of Riceville, Lola Low of Osage and Debbie Starkey

of Costa Mesa, Calif.; one sister, Delores Christiansen of Sedona,

Ariz.; one brother, Walter Intorf of Osage; 10 grandchildren;

22 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.



She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two granddaughters

and one great-grandson.

Dorothy Docken of Houston, Texas, Clifford Egeland of Wallingford

and Marvin Egeland of Moreno Valley, Calif.; four grandchildren;

seven stepgrandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and two

sisters, Frances Wiese of Algona and Esther Addy of Des Moines.

John Edward Meek was born Nov. 19, 1916, in Pleasant Grove Township,

Floyd County, a son of John Edward and Mary (Marzen) Meek, and

died Sunday (March 10, 1996) in the Hospice Unit of Floyd County

Memorial Hospital, Charles City.



He received his education in and graduated from the Sacred Heart

Academy in Greene.



As a young man, he enjoyed playing softball and was pitcher

and first baseman for Barth Chevrolet, Albrecht Hatchery and

a church team, and played many games in Powersville.



In later years he bowled on  the McRoberts Implement Team.



John operated a hammer mill business in the Greene area until

he enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1941.



He received his training in San Diego and from there was sent

to Dutch Harbor, Alaska, for 32 months. He then returned to El

Paso, Texas, for a short time before being sent overseas where

he served in Germany, France and Belgium until the end of the

war. After four and a half years of service, Corporal Meek was

honorably discharged in October of 1945.



A year later, he started farming south of Greene.



On May 29, 1947, he was united in marriage to Lois E. Murphy

at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Greene.



They farmed south of Greene until September of 1963 when they

moved to their present farm. John continued 50 years of custom

farming for farmers in a large area.



He also enjoyed craft and woodworking and caring for his livestock.



John was a lifelong faithful member of St. Mary's Catholic Church

in Greene and was a member of Tack Barnett Post No. 268 American

Legion of Greene and the V.F.W.



Living family members include his loving wife of 49 years, Lois

Meek of Greene; four sisters, Virginia and her husband, Jim Reams,

of Charles City, Shirley and her husband, Howard Schlangen, of

Lime Springs, Faith and her husband, Paul Porter, of Bellvue,

Neb., and Bonnie Lynch of Greene; two brothers, Wayne and his

wife, Henrietta Meek, of Greene and Donald and his wife, Cheryl

Meek, of Charles City; and two brothers-in-law, Jerald Ramker

of Mason City  and Edward Heitland of Greene; and many nieces

and nephews.



He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Richard

Meek; and two sisters, Mary Jean Ramker and Ruth Ellen Heitland.

Helen B. Bergman Austin, 79, of Des Moines, died Monday (March

11, 1996) at the Kavanagh House.

Park Funeral Home, 3500 Sixth Ave., Des Moines.  Burial will

be in Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Pauline Meleney, 94, of 302 Second St. N.E., died Monday (March

11, 1996) at Good Shepherd Health Care Center.



A Mass of Resurrection will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at

Holy Family Catholic Church, 714 N. Adams Ave., with the Rev.

Raymond A. Burkle officiating.  Burial will be in St. Patrick's

Cemetery, Britt.



Visitation will begin after 3 p.m. today at Hogan-Bremer Colonial

Chapel, 126 Third St. N.E., where a Scriptural prayer service

will be held at 7 p.m.



Pauline Meleney was born May 4, 1901, at Wesley, the daughter

of William and Lena (Bausch) Kirschbaum.  She married Harry Meleney

on Sept. 8, 1920, at Britt.



Pauline attended country school at Britt and lived at Britt

for 20 years, moving to Mason City in 1926.  She worked in the

cafeteria at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital for several years.



She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church and the St.

Veronica Circle at church.



Survivors include her husband, Harry Meleney of Mason City;

two sons, Leon Meleney and his wife, Erma, of Quincy, Ill., and

Paul Meleney and his wife, Sandy, of Mason City; eight grandchildren;

12 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.



She was preceded in death by her parents, four sons, six brothers

and two sisters.

Margaret G. Streeter, 84, of Lake Mills, died Monday (March

11, 1996) at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City.



Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Asbury

United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jeanne Martin officiating.

Burial will be in Sunnyside Cemetery.



Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Mittelstadt Funeral

Home, with visitation continuing one hour prior to services at

the church on Thursday.



Margaret C. Streeter was born Sept. 27, 1911, in Lake Mills,

the daughter of Edward and Theresa (Gunderson) Peterson.  She

lived most of her life in the Lake Mills area.  Margaret was

baptized and confirmed in the Norwegian Methodist Church in Lake

Mills.  She was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church and

was active in the UMW and circle.  Margaret worked at various

jobs, mostly as a homemaker.



In 1930 she married Lawrence T. Moe, and was united in marriage

to Lynn H. Streeter in 1940 in Algona.  Lynn passed away on Dec.

1, 1986.



Margaret enjoyed reading, traveling, music, crocheting, sewing

and most of all, being with her family and friends.



Margaret is survived by her three daughters, Marilyn Gesme of

Joice, Delores Bloomingdale of Northwood, and Marcia Latham and

her husband, Jim, of Clear Lake; eight grandchildren and their

spouses, Ron and Beverly Crumb-Gesme, Craig and Barbara Gesme,

Nancy and Patrick Mathahs, James and Jane Bloomingdale, Kathy

and John Midtgaard, Robert and Mary Bloomingdale, Paige Latham,

and Jed Latham; 10 great-grandchildren, Shawn and Paul Gesme,

Brock and Shana Mathahs, Mary and Michael Bloomingdale, Matthew

and Trent Midtgaard, Joseph and Erin Bedford; and two sisters,

Gladys Hovland of Lake Mills, and Adeline and her husband, Kenneth

Dahl of Albert Lea, Minn.



Margaret was preceded in death by her parents; her husband,

Lynn; three sisters, Ethel Sime, and two in infancy, Gertrude

and Gladys; three brothers, Russell, Theodore and Roy Peterson;

and two sons-in-law, Earl Gesme and Ronald Bloomingdale.

Merrill F. Tietjens, 81, of 308 West Elmore St., died Monday

(March 11, 1996) at his home.



Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the

Bethel United Methodist Church, 503 E. South St., with the Rev.

James V. Poulsen officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery,

Plymouth.



Visitation will begin after 4 p.m. today at Bride Colonial Chapel,

110 Spring St., and one hour prior to services at the church

on Thursday.



Merrill F. Tietjens was born Oct. 10, 1914, at Mason City, son

of Amandus and Cora (Alitz) Tietjens.



He married Phyllis Tohill on Sept. 26, 1953, in Mason City.



Merrill farmed near Mason City until moving to Manly in 1972.

He also had a trucking business until 1985 when he retired.



He was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church.



Survivors include his wife, Phyllis Tietjens of Manly; two daughters,

Shirley Tietjens of Robbinsdale, Minn., and Peggy Rankin and

her husband, David, of Fridley, Minn.; one son, Roger Tietjens

and his wife, Cheryl, of Collins; five grandchildren, Aaron Tietjens

of Hanlontown; Amy and Andrew Tietjens, both of Collins; Dawson

Tietjens of Robbinsdale, Minn., and Stephanie Rankin, of Fridley,

Minn.; one great-granddaughter; two sisters, Delphia Seidel of

Kensett, and June Stevens of Kensett; and several nieces and

nephews.



He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Irvin

and Harold Tietjens.

Elizabeth A. ``Betty'' Hawkins, 92, of 1000 N. Eisenhower Ave.,

died Sunday (March 10, 1996) at the Americana Health Care Center.



A memorial service will be  held at 11 a.m. Friday  at St. John's

Episcopal Church, 120 First St. N.E., with   Warren Frelund,

deacon, officiating.



There is no visitation; the body will be cremated. Major Erickson

Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave., is in charge of arrangements.



Memorials may be given to the Betty Hawkins Memorial Fund.



Betty Hawkins was born March 13, 190,3 in Princeville, Ill.,

the daughter of Peter and Margaret (Graham) Frye.



At the age of 9 years, Betty moved to Kensett, where she later

graduated from Kensett High School.



In 1926, she moved to Mason City. She was united in marriage

on March 13, 1926, to Leslie G. Hawkins.



Betty graduated from Hamilton Business College and worked for

a short time for Shepard Abstract Company.



Betty was an active member of St. John's Episcopal Church, Eastern

Star, League of Women Voters, Minerva Club and was involved in

Girl Scouts.



Survivors include her daughter, Beverly Kitto and her husband,

R.W., of Hawthorne, Calif.; son, Thomas E. Hawkins and his wife,

Darlene, of Cleveland, Ohio; daughter, Margaret Hillard and husband,

Donald, of Des Moines; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.



She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Leslie, in

1986; and brother, Giles Frye.

Raymund E. Grier

VALLEJO, CALIF. 



Raymund E. Grier, 75, of Vallejo, and formerly of Mason City,

Iowa, died Saturday (March 8, 1996) after a brief illness at

Vallejo Hospital.



Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Skyview

Garden Chapel, Vallejo, with the Rev. Ernie Sprinkel officiating,

with burial in Skyview Memorial Lawn.



Visitation will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Skyview

Garden Chapel.  Skyview Memorial Lawn is in charge of arrangements.



Raymund E. Grier was born June 8, 1920, in Mason City, Iowa.

He had lived in Vallejo for 36 years.  He retired in 1983 from

his position as a maintenance supervisor for TAFB/Civil Service

after 22 years.  He was a veteran of World War II, serving in

the Pacific Campaign by occupational forces in Japan.



He was a member of the Church of Christ, Pinolef.  His hobbies

included golf, traveling and he was a rock hound.



Survivors include one daughter, Jacqueline Mae Flores of Vallejo;

one son, Raymund E. Grier Jr. of Vallejo; three sisters, Alice

Walker, Mildred Creekmur and Phyllis Easely, all of Iowa; two

brothers, Harold C. Grier and John E. Grier, both of Iowa; seven

grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.



He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife in 1990; one

sister, Miriam Schwieger; and one brother, Richard Grier.

Florence E. Palmer, 92, of 222 S. Pierce Ave., died Tuesday

(March 12, 1996) at the Americana Health Care Center.

Florence E. Palmer was born June 7, 1903, in Ventura, the daughter

of Clarence W. and Nellie A. (Scherf) Palmer.  Florence moved

to Mason City in 1919 and graduated from Mason City High School,

Mason City Junior College and Drake University.  Florence taught

school in Rockwell for eight years, and then in the Mason City

Schools for many years.  Florence was a lifetime member of First

United Methodist Church, where she also taught Sunday school.

She also was a member of I.S.E.A., N.S.E.A., retired teachers

association and served on the Mason City Education Board.  She

was also past Noble Grand of the Rockwell Queen Rebekah Lodge.



Survivors include cousins, Patricia Scherf Smith of Brooklyn,

N.Y., and Larry Scherf and his wife, Caroline, of Clarinda, and

many other cousins.



She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Vern

L. Palmer.

of Costa Mesa, Calif.; one sister, Dolores Christiansen of Sedona,

Ariz.; one brother, Walter Intorf of Osage; 10 grandchildren;

MASON CITY



Helen W. Hanes, 92, of 324 Second St., N.E., a former resident

of 933 N. Delaware Ave., died Monday (March 4, 1996) at the Good

Shepherd Nursing Home.



Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 16,

at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave.



The body was cremated.



The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made

to the donor's choice.



Helen Atwood Wells was born Oct. 8, 1903, in La Crosse, Wis.,

the only daughter of Fred Eugene and Hattie Lou (Pace) Wells.



Her family moved to Mason City in 1915 and she graduated from

Mason City High School. Helen graduated from Mason City Junior

College and attended the University of Minnesota.



She worked as a lab technician at Kenosha, Wis., and later at

Park Hospital in Mason City.



She married Joel F. Hanes on Jan. 21, 1925 in Minneapolis, Minn.



The couple lived in Mason City, where Joel was employed by Jacob

E. Decker and Sons and was later owner of Yelland and Hanes.



Helen was a member of the First Christian Church, Eastern Star,

and was a past chapter regent of the Daughters of the American

Revolution.



She had been an officer of the Parent Teacher Association and

a scout troop leader. She enjoyed travel, spending time with

her family and summer activities at Clear Lake.



Survivors include three daughters, Elizabeth Jane ``Betty''

Dunn and her husband, Richard Dunn, of Mesa, Ariz; Dorothy Jean

Stone of Nekoosa, Wis., and Barbara Ann Roberts of Nauvoo, Ill.;

two sons, Joel Charles Hanes and his wife, Joyce, of Mason City,

and Edward Eugene Hanes and his wife, Billie, of Clear Lake;

20 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces

and nephews.



She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Joel, in

1966; and three brothers, Donald Eugene, Ernest Pace and Harry

Oliver Wells.

Eldon E. Noling, 69, of Cannon Falls, Minn., and formerly of

Garner, died Tuesday (March 12, 1996) at United Hospital in St.

Paul, Minn.

Funeral Chapel, Garner, with the Rev. John Hemann officiating.

Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Mason City.

Eldon Earl Noling, the son of Earl and Bertha (Beerman) Noling,

was born Feb. 3, 1927 on a farm near Floyd.  He attended school

at Floyd and Colwell.  Eldon served his country during World

War II in the U.S. Army, being stationed in Europe.  On March

29, 1980 he married Esther Nedved VerHoef at the United Methodist

Church in Garner.  The couple made their home in Garner until

1988 when they moved to Cannon Falls, Minn.



Eldon enjoyed his family and friends, playing cards with the

Golden Agers, and delivering Meals On Wheels.



He was a member of the V.F.W. in Cannon Falls.



He is survived by his wife, Esther Noling of Cannon Falls, Minn.;

three children, Rebecca Kennedy of Des Moines, Reginald Noling

of Mason City, and Melvin Noling; two step-children, Patricia

Drabek and her husband, Dennis, and Randy VerHoef and his wife,

Diane, all of Garner; many grandchildren and step-grandchildren;

and four sisters and brothers, Marie Wright and her husband,

Jess of Charles City, Richard Noling and his wife, Lorene of

Maple Lake, Minn., Mervin Noling and his wife, Mildred of Charles

City, and June Roberts of Manteca, Calif.



He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Josephine

Coen and Ruby Lear.

Gladys was born Nov. 14, 1928 in Martin, S.D., to Martin and

S.D. High School.  She was married to Raymond Ellwanger in Burke,

S.D. in 1945.  They lived in Jefferson where she ran a restaurant

for a number of years.  They then moved to Fort Dodge where she

ran a new and used furniture store until moving to Clear Lake.

She was married to Melvin Snyder in 1968 in South Dakota.  They

ran the J. & G. New and Used Furniture Store until she was forced

to retire due to illness.  She moved to Mason City in 1990.



Survivors include two daughters, Nancy Ebrecht of Radcliffe,

and Beverly Mason of Mason City; three sons, Randy Ellwanger,

Donald Ellwanger, and Vincent Ellwanger, all of Mason City; 15

grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; four sisters, Alta Ritch

of Salem, Ore., Cora Hauf of Stuart, Margie Ernst of Woodward,

and Selma King of Kingsman, Ariz.



She was preceded in death by his parent, two brothers, one sister,

one grandson, and one great-grandson.

Eleanor J. Gibbish, the daughter of Edmund and Ruth (Ott) Lincicum,

was born Sept. 2, 1926, in Clear Lake, Iowa.  She was employed

by Jostens and Wenger Corporation of Owatonna for many years.



She is survived by six children, Robert Gibbish of Boise, Idaho;

Evelyn (and Jim) McDougle of Glenwood; Richard Gibbish of Lakeville;

Rita Kelly of Fairbault; Lee (and Dawn) Gibbish of Prior Lake,

and Lorna Gibbish of Waterloo, Iowa; three brothers, Clayton

(and Judy) Lincicum, and Kenneth (and Blanch) Lincicum, all of

Clear Lake, Iowa, and Leon Lincicum of Union, Ore.; 14 grandchildren;

and eight great-grandchildren.



Eleanor was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Cecil

Lincicum; one sister, Viola Lincicum; and four quadruplet great-

grandchildren, Sarah, Samantha, Erin and Jeremy McDougle.

Abner J. Engelhardt, 86, of 913 Beck St., died Wednesday (March

13, 1996) at the Floyd County Memorial Hospital.



Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Messiah

Lutheran Church with the Rev. Curt L. Schneider officiating.

Burial will be in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Lime Springs.



Friends may call from noon to 9 p.m. today at the Fullerton

Hage Funeral Home, where the family will receive friends from

5 to 7 p.m.  Visitation will continue one hour prior to services

at the church on Saturday.



Abner John Engelhardt was born July 18, 1909, in rural Clayton

County.



Survivors include his wife, Vera, of Charles City; two sons,

Abner Darryl Engelhardt of Readlyn, and Jerry Engelhardt of Charles

City; four daughters, Vicky Davies of Charles City; Nancy Howland

of Davenport; Joanie Lukes of Washburn and Debbie Foster of Greene;

three brothers, Harry Engelhardt of Chester; Carl Engelhardt

of Reno, Nev., and Arthur Engelhardt of Waterloo; two sisters,

Ione Meyer of Lime Springs, and Marjorie Granahan of Bellevue;

24 grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren;

and five stepgreat-grandchildren.



He is preceded in death by three children and five brothers

and sisters.

Marie Katheryn Sewald

FORT COLLINS, Colo. 



Marie Katheryn Sewald, 78, of Fort Collins, formerly of Mason

City, Iowa, died Wednesday (March 13, 1996) at her home.



A prayer vigil will be held at 7 p.m. Sunday at the Warren-Bohlender

Funeral Chapel, 121 West Olive, Fort Collins.  A Mass of Christian

Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph's Catholic

Church with Father Michael Delaney officiating.  Burial will

be in Roselawn Cemetery.



Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at the

funeral chapel, and will continue from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday.



Marie Katheryn Sewald was born April 29, 1917 in Topeka, Kan.,

the daughter of Frank and Dora (Leichman) Mary.  She married

Peter P. Sewald on May 3, 1937, in Sterling, Colo.  Peter passed

away on Nov. 17, 1995.  They lived in Mason City, Iowa, moving

to Fort Collins in 1971.



She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Fort Collins.

She cooked in nursing homes and fraternities, and also was a

restaurant owner.  She enjoyed cooking, gardening, dancing and

her family.



Memorials may be given to Hospice of Larimer County in care

of Warren-Bohlender Funeral Chapel.



Survivors include four sons, Frank Sewald of Fort Collins; Robert

Sewald of Arvada; Peter Sewald of Colorado Springs, and Edward

Sewald of Apple Valley, Minn.; two sisters, Dorothy Nemelia of

Loveland, and Katie Ferstl of Springtown, Texas; 11 grandchildren;

and six great-grandchildren.
