Kristine Noble Helgeland
NORTHWOOD
Kristine Noble Helgeland, 82, of 800 North 10th St., died
Thursday (Dec. 19, 1996) at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient
Unit, Mason City.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the First
Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Mark Bentz officiating. The commital
service will take place at the conclusion of services at the
church. The body will be cremated, with inurnment at a later
date in the North Shell Rock Cemetery, rural Northwood.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 6:30 p.m. today at the Conner
Colonial Chapel, 99-11th St. S., and one hour prior to services
at the church.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions
be made to Hospice of North Iowa or First Lutheran Church, Northwood.
Kristine Noble Helgeland was born June 16, 1914, on a farm west
of Northwood, the daughter of John and Barbra (Espedokken) Ellingson.
She attended kindergarten through the 12th grade in the Northwood
School system.
After graduation in 1933, she worked as a 4-H leader; worked
in the Farm Bureau office in Northwood; kept house for her father
on the west farm for one year; and worked for Lulu Tosdal.
She entered nurse's training at Naeve Hospital in Albert Lea,
Minn., graduating as a registered nurse in 1940.
She went to Los Angeles, Calif,. in 1941 where she worked as
an obstetrical nurse at the Good Samaritan Hospital. She later
worked as a nurse in the office of Dr. Fagan, a gynecologist
in Beverly Hills.
She married Jim Noble in 1945; they lived in Westchester, Calif.,
later moving to Santa Ana where they lived until Jim's death
in 1974. Kristine continued to live in Santa Ana until she moved
back to Northwood in 1985. In the interim, she worked as a nurse
and secretary in the office of Dr. Engleman in Santa Ana.
She and David Helgeland were married in 1985.
Through Kristine's life, she has been an avid seamstress, a
member of square dancing clubs both in Northwood and California.
Both she and David were members of square dancing clubs in Albert
Lea, as well as the swimming classes at the ``Y.''
Music has been a large part of her life, having been a member
of church and high school choral groups, but playing the piano
was her main recreation.
She was baptized and confirmed in the Shell Rock Lutheran Church
where she was an active member of the choir, Luther League and
taught Sunday school.
She has been a member of the First Lutheran Church, in Northwood,
since her return to Northwood where she has been an active member
of the ``Golden Tones Choir,'' Rachel Circle and Ladies Aid.
She is survived by her husband, David; a daughter, Barbara and
her husband, Virgil Stephens, Garland, Texas; four grandchildren,
Lisa, Lori, Joseph and Kristine, Garland and Dallas, Texas; three
great-grandchildren, Trevor Yokochi, Rachel and Sadie Land; a
sister, June Hermanson, Colton, Calif.; two brothers, the Rev.
Hiram Ellingson and his wife, Hannah, Minneapolis, Minn., and
Lemoyne Ellingson and his wife, Jean, of Northwood; six nieces,
Kay Ellingboe, Troutdale, Ore.; Mary Ellingson, Minneapolis,
Minn.; Patricia Copeland, Harrisburg, Ore.; Barbara Clark, Riverside,
Calif.; Kim Kotur, Bozeman, Mont., and Pam Wallace, Lafayette,
Colo.; four nephews, John Nelson, Junction City, Ore.; Matthew
and John Ellingson, Minneapolis, Minn., and Norval Hermanson,
Cedar Rapids; also Judy Helgeland, Byron, Minn.; the Rev. Mark
and Pauline Helgeland and Andrew, Byron, Minn.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her first husband,
Jim Noble.

Adeline Hannah Loverink
NORTHWOOD
Adeline Hannah Loverink, 72, of 2321 470th St., died Wednesday
(Dec. 18, 1996) at her home.
Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Monday at the Northwood
Baptist Church, with the Rev. Robert Luebbert officiating.
Burial will be at 2:30 p.m. Monday in Fort Snelling National
Cemetery, St. Paul, Minn.
Visitation will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the Conner
Colonial Chapel, 99 11th St. S., and also one hour prior to services
at the church on Monday.
Adeline Hannah Loverink was born Feb. 1, 1924, at St. Paul,
Minn., the daughter of Frank and Anna (Tomacek) Gajdosik.
She married Everett Loverink on June 15, 1946, at the Temple
Baptist Church, St. Paul, Minn.
Adeline loved to play the piano and sing, and enjoyed family
gatherings. She kept a daily dairy and loved to write many letters
to friends and relatives.
She especially enjoyed reading her Bible early every morning.
Adeline loved the Lord with all her heart, and was a witness
to those around her. She left to her children a Christian heritage
which is the greatest treasure of all.
She was a member of the Northwood Baptist Church and sang in
the choir.
Survivors include her husband, Everett Loverink, Northwood;
seven children, Anna Housholder and her husband, Robert of Janesville,
Calif.; Rose Beenken and her husband, Gordon of Northwood; Rebecca
Trostheim and her husband, Jerry, of Mason City; Evelyn Henning
and her husband, Ernie, of Fertile; Deborah Hanson and her husband,
Greg, of Hutchinson, Minn.; Bruce Loverink, Northwood; and Adeline
Benson and her husband, David, of Lyle, Minn.; 12 grandchildren,
Alyssa and Taima Housholder, Janesville, Calif.; Aaron and Shaun
Trostheim, Mason City; Alexandra, Chad and Jesse Henning, Fertile;
Kelly Hanson, Hutchinson, Minn.; and Heidi, Davis, Carrie and
Brad Benson, Lyle, Minn.; four sisters, Vivian Dille and her
husband, Robert, of San Jose, Calif.; Helen Jackson, Mary Ann
Gajdosik and Irene Piper, all of St. Paul, Minn.; one brother,
Richard Gaydosik and his wife, Joyce, of Minneapolis, Minn.;
and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents.

ALEXANDER
John Henry Bohman, 73, of Alexander, died Thursday (Dec. 19,
1996) at the Belmond Community Hospital.

will be in the Alexander Cemetery, with military rites under

John Henry Bohman was born Oct. 12, 1923, on a farm north of
Alexander.
Survivors include his wife, Norma, of Alexander; one daughter,
Melinda Sue Harvison of Houston, Texas; one son, Russel John
Bohman of West Des Moines; four grandchildren; two great-grand-
children; one sister, Effie Olson of Alexander; and one brother,
Bernard Bohman, Alexander.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one daughter.

Anna Olson, 89, of Hiawatha, formerly of Forest City, died
Wednesday (Dec. 19, 1996) at St. Lukes Hospital, Cedar Rapids.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Immanuel
Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Sharon Worthington officiating.
Burial will be in Madison Township Cemetery.

Anna L. Olson was born on Sept. 7, 1907, in Fogn, Stavanger,
Norway, the daughter of Jonas and Martha (Treveland) Norheim.
She attended school in Norway and immigrated to America when
she was 21.
She was married to Andrew Olson on April 17, 1932, in Thompson.
The couple lived on farms near Buffalo Center, Thompson and Leland
before moving to Forest City.
Anna was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church. She loved
sewing, doing crafts and baking. Her grandchildren were very
special to her.
Andrew died in 1992. Dur to failing health, Anna moved to the
Townsquare Apartments in Forest City.
In September of 1996, she moved to the Hiawatha Care Center
in Hiawatha to be near her daughter.
She is survived by her daughter, Mavis Lovik and her husband,
Archie, of Cedar Rapids; a son, James Olson and his wife, Connie,
of Hazen, N.D.; a son, Andrew L. Olson and his wife, Pat, of
Sidney, Ohio; five grandchildren, Mark Lovik of Chatham, Ill.;
Gary Lovik of Cedar Rapids; Todd Olson of Sidney, Ohio; Susan
McPeeks of Sidney, Ohio; and Julie Breider of West Salem, Wis.;
and 10 great-grandchildren.
Anna was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Andrew;
and a sister, Sigrid Tytlandsvik.

Dolores C. Madson, 78, of Friendship Haven, Fort Dodge, formerly
of the Britt and Wesley areas, died Wednesday (Dec. 19, 1996)
at the Tompkins Memorial Health Center in Fort Dodge.
Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Wesley United
Methodist Church, Wesley, with the Rev. Linda Bibb officiating.
Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery, Britt, with military
graveside rites performed by the Dean Welsh VFW Post #4370 of
Britt.
Visitation will be held from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the Gunderson
Funeral Home, 1615 N. 15th St., Fort Dodge. There will be a prayer
service held at 3 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home, with the
Rev. Ron Kitterman officiating.
Dolores Caldwell, the daughter of Arthur and Grace (Wlety) Caldwell,
was born Aug. 14, 1918, at Britt.
She attended school at Britt and graduated from Britt High School
in 1935. She graduated from junior college in 1937 and attended
AIC Business School in Davenport. She worked in a law firm in
Davenport.
She served in the U.S. Marine Corps and served with the Air
Arm of the Marine Corps in North Carolina and Hawaii during World
War II.
On Aug. 10, 1947, she married Richard P. Madson at the Little
Brown Church in Nashua.
They resided on a farm near Wesley and she was employed at the
Exchange State Bank for 10 years and at the Hutchison and Buchanan
Law Firm in Algona for 12 years.
In April of 1984, they retired to Friendship Haven in Fort Dodge
and she entered the health center in May of 1996.
She was a member of the Andrews Post #428 American Legion at
Wesley, a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Andrews Post #428,
and a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Dean Welsh VFW Post
#4370 at Britt. She was a member of the United Methodist Church.

Brian was born on May 30, 1955 at Maquoketa, the son of Dale
and Anna May (Shunkwiler) Northrup. He was a graduate of Mason
City High School and then was employed by various contractors
until owning and operating Gold Star Dry Wall. He was united
in marriage to Sandra Mason on Sept. 12, 1981 at the Little Brown
Church in Nashua/ He enjoyed being outdoors, snowmobiling and
playing golf. He was also a bowler and enjoyed attending NASCAR
races. He was devoted to his daughters and loved to go camping
as a family in Minnesota.
Brain will be missed by his loving family which include his
wife, Sandra; his two daughters, Tara and Shanna Northrup all
at home; his parents, Dale and Anna May Northrup of Mason City;
one sister, Daleann and her husband Russ Dusheck of Mason City;
three brothers, Mark and his wife Sheila of Mason City, Jeff
and his wife Lori of Vancouver, Wash., Terry Northrup of Newton;
and his maternal grandmother, Elsie Shunkwiler of Mason City.
He was proceeded in death by his paternal grandparents and his
maternal grandfather.

Martin Harold Kipp, 89, of 1200 Mulberry, died Friday (Dec.
20, 1996) at Cedar Manor Nursing Home of a lingering illness.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Monday at St. Mary's
Catholic Church, Tipton, with the Rather Eugene Bende officiating.
Burial will be in the St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the Fry Funeral
Home. A parish vigil service will be held today at 7:30 p.m.

Martin was born Oct. 21, 1907 in Cedar County, the son of Charles
and Winifred (O'Conner) Kipp. He attended rural Cedar County
Country Schools and was a member of ST. Mary's Catholic Church.
On Oct. 30, 1934 he married Alma Angela Zajicek in Tipton.
Martin farmed his entire life until retiring in 1970. He enjoyed
farming, hunting and fishing.
Survivors include one son, James Kipp of cedar Rapids; two daughters,
Charlene Garrison of Clinton, and Frances Juhlin of Mason City;
one sister, Mary Kipp of Tipton; 13 grandchildren and 10 great-
grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Alma on Nov. 13, 1987;
one sister, Margaret Fury; one daughter, Rosemary Bell; and one
granddaughter, Angela Kipp.

George Haddy, 78, of 2318 S. Grover, died Friday (Dec. 20, 1996)
at North Iowa Mercy Health Center.

Rev. Joseph Mirowski officiating.

in Los Angeles, Calif. with burial in the Forest Lawn Hollywood

George Haddy was born Dec. 27, 1917, the son of Michael and
Andora (Eddy) Haddy in Scarville. George came with his family
to Mason City in 1926. The family moved to Kansas for a short
time and then returned to Mason City where he graduated from
Mason City High School in 1937.
George worked for Jacob E. Decker until 1942 when he was enlisted
in the United States Army during World War II. George served
with the 101st Airborne Division as a paratrooper while stationed
in Europe and was involved with the D-Day invasion into Normandy.
George married Lucille Haddy in 1946 in Los Angeles, Calif and
she died in 1984. George owned and operated his own grocery
store and restaurant for several years and also worked for McAnlly
and Company in Los Angeles. He married Lucille Nassiff in 1990
in Los Angeles and then later that year moved to Mason City to
retire.
He was a member of Clausen-Worden Post #101 of Mason City, John
Grantus American Legion Post in Lost Angeles, 101st Airborne
Division Association, and Syrian Antiochian Orthodox Church in
Los Angeles.
He also was president of the Mason City Senior Chamber of Commerce
and was an active member of the Class of '37.
survivors include his wife, Lucille Haddy of Mason City; one
son, Dr. Steven M. Haddy of Studio City, Calif.; four sisters,
Mae Sharp and husband Ernest of Long Beach, Calif., Elizabeth
Christensen of Long Beach, Calif, Martha Slaughter and husband
Kenneth of Cypress, Calif, and Betty Beck and husband Robert
of Beaver Creek, Ohio; two brothers, Frank Haddy and wife Lorene
of Clear Lake, and James Haddy and wife Maxine of Indio Springs,
Calif.; several nieces and nephews; four step-children, Rosella,
Jolene, Jerry Lynn and Pamela; and 11 step grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his fist wife; and
three brothers, Taft, William and Tom.

Robert H. Braun, 79, of 813 N. Taylor, died Sunday (Dec. 1,
1996) at North Iowa Mercy Health Center following a lengthy illness.
Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Major Erickson
Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave. with the Rev. David Shogren
of the Wesley United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will
be in the Memorial Park Cemetery. There will be no visitation,
the body was cremated.

Robert H. Braun was born March 14, 1917, the son of Henry and
Ruby (Daniels) Braun of Algona. Bob married Lucille Halsrud
on Sept. 25, 1937 in Rockwell city. Bob worked as a delivery
man for Wonder Bread for over 20 years. He enjoyed camping,
fishing and gardening. He was a member of the Wesley United
Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Lucille Braun of Mason City; one
son, Duane Braun and wife June of Portland, Ore.; two daughters,
Sharon Belseth and husband Eugene of Mason City and Judy Borger
and husband John of Mason City; nine grandchildren; 10 great-
grandchildren; one brother, Raymond Braun and wife Mitte of
Deadwood, Ore.; two sisters, Agnes Braun of Spirit Lake, and W
Wilma Anderson and husband Charles of Waterford, Mich.; and many
nieces and nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters; Frances,
Margaret and Elsie.

David Frank Mathahs was born June 5, 1902 at Peru, Ill. the
son of Anton and Anna (Schmidt) Mathahs.
He received his schooling in Peru, and was a farmer for most
of his life.
He was united in marriage to Bertha Elizabeth Knecht on April
23, 1933 in Algona.
David moved to Mason City in 1953, and was employed by the State
Brand Creamery until his retirement.
He loved fishing and woodworking.
He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church and the Knights
of Columbus.
Survivors include one son James Mathahs and his wife Loretta
of Mason City; two grandchildren, Mark J. Mathahs and his wife
Patricia of San Antonio, Texas, and Mardi Sauve and her husband
Curt of Mason City; six great-grandchildren, Jamie K. Mathahs
and Ryan M. Mathahs of Osage, Rochelle Miller and Amanda Kelsey
of San Antonio, Texas, Ashley M. Sauve and Matthew C. Sauve of
Mason City; one great-great-grandchild, Mickenzie Miller of San
Antonio, Texas.

BELMOND
Blake E. Thayer, 26, died Saturday (Dec. 21, 1996) at North
Iowa Mercy Health Center East, Mason City.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at United
Methodist Church, Belmond with the Rev. Ken Fineran officiating.
Burial will be at the Belmond Cemetery.
Visitation will be held on from 2 to 9 p.m. today at Tenold
Funeral Home, and one hour prior to services at the church.
Blake was born on Oct. 29, 1970 in Belmond to Randall and Constance
(Benway) Thayer.
Blake was a 1989 graduate of the Belmond High School, and attended
North Iowa Area Community College in Mason City, and graduated
with an associate in Applied Science Degree, with his major in
Mechanical Design Technology.
He worked for Vortex Engineering in Mason City, for a short
time and has been a Detail Drafter with Winnebago Industries
in Forest City since 1991.
He was a member of Pheasants Forever, and enjoyed hunting, fishing,
snowmobiling, cooking and camping. He joined the Belmond Volunteer
Fire Department in 1994 and obtained his Fire Fighter I Certification.
He loved children and entertained them by playing Smokey The
Bear.
He is survived by his parents, Randall and Connie Thayer of
Belmond; one brother, Brett Thayer and his wife, Lisa, of West
Des Moines; one nephew, Carter Thayer; a grandfather, Gail Thayer
of Forest City; and a grandmother, Jean Mills of Mesa, Ariz.
He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Elveta Benway;
and grandfather, Rex Benway.

Anna Noel Gobeli, 1-day-old infant, died Saturday (Dec. 21,
1996) at the University of Iowa Hospitals, Iowa City.
Private family memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday
at the Wayside Chapel, First United Methodist Church with the
Rev. Sharon Betsworth officiating.
There will be no visitation, the body was cremated.
Anna Noel Gobeli was born Dec. 20, 1996 at North Iowa Mercy
Health Center in Mason City, the daughter of Tracey and Julie
(Prestholt) Gobeli. She was transported on Friday to the University
of Iowa due to a heart condition.
Survivors include her parents, Tracey and Julie Gobeli of Mason
City; one sister, Abbie Gobeli of Mason City; one brother, Greg
Gobeli of Cottage Grove, Minn.; maternal Grandparents, Jack and
Shirley Prestholt of Clear Lake; paternal grandparents, Vern
and Janet Gobeli of Grand Prairie, Texas; maternal great grandmother,
Grandma Bell of Mason City; an aunt, Jill Scharper and husband
Kevin of Forest City; two uncles, Jack Prestholt and wife Betty
of Mason City, and Randy Gobeli and wife Paula of Fort Worth,
Texas; and a special family friend, Claudia Cooper of Mason City.
She was preceded in death by her uncle, Russell Prestholt.

Katherine S.B. Hogen, daughter of John and Karen (Francis) Hogen
of 2013 N. Carolina, was stillborn Saturday (Dec. 21, 1996) at
North Iowa Mercy Health Center.
Private family services were held at St. Joseph Catholic Church,
302 Fifth St. S.E., with the Rev. Carl A. Ries officiating.
Hogan-Bremer Colonial Chapel, 126 Third St. N.E., is handling
arrangements.
Katherine is survived by her parents, John and Karen Hogen of
Mason City; a brother, Caleb Hill of Mason City; maternal grandmother,
Delores Francis of Rockwell; and paternal grandparents, Arnold
and Blanche Hogen of Northwood.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather.

Mrs. Marie Pauline Fisher, 84, died Sunday (Dec. 22, 1996) at
the I.O.O.F. Home.

Lutheran Church, 419 N. Delaware, with the Rev. Frederick Wood
officiating. Interment will be in Elmwood - St. Joseph Cemetery.

Marie was born August 16, 1912 in Buckeye, the daughter of Albert
and Minnie (Bahr) Warschkow. Marie graduated from Allden High
School and Hamilton Business College. She married David Fisher
June 2, 1934 in Alden.
They farmed in Floyd County and later moved to Mason City where
she has lived ever since. Marie enjoyed crocheting, cooking
and most of all her family. She will be sadly missed by her
family. Marie was a life-long member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church.
Marie is survived by two daughters, Darlene Irman and her husband
Robert, and Jeanette Dodge both of Mason City; two sons, Donald
Fisher and his wife Joyce of Belvidere, Ill., and Paul Fisher
of Mason City; one brother, Paul Warchkow of Belmond; three sisters,
Emma Fessler of Alden, Dorothy Hastings of Marshalltown, and
Margaret Rebo of Las Vegas, Nev. Six grandchildren and seven
great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one daughter,
Margaret Mack; one grandson, Doug Fisher; and one brother, Ernes
Warschkow.

Edith J. Russ, 93, died Saturday (Dec. 21, 1996) at Timely Mission
Nursing Home, Buffalo Center.

be in the West Cemetery.

Edith Josephine Russ was born Feb. 6, 1903 in Sheridan, Ill.
Survivors include two sons, Perlon Engelby of Fairmont, Minn.,
and Harvey Engelby also of Fairmont, Minn.; four grandsons, and
one brother, Glenn Olson of Rake.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husbands.

Dorothy Ida Franks
CLEAR LAKE
Dorothy Ida Franks, 87, of 22620 Fir Ave. died Saturday (Dec.
21, 1996) at the Muse Norris Hospice In-Patient Unit, Mason City.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Clear
Lake United Methodist Church with the Rev. Fred Lewis officiating.
Burial will be in Clear Lake Cemetery.
Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. today at Ward-Van Slyke Colonial
Chapel, 101 N. Fourth St., Clear Lake. The family will greet
friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and again from 6 to 7 p.m. today at
the funeral home.
Memorials may be directed to the Clear Lake United Methodist
Church.
Dorothy was born Oct. 31, 1909 in Salida, Colo., the daughter
of Frank Lyle and Dulcie (Creighton) Washburn. At an early age
she moved with her parents to Fulton, S.D., where she graduated
from high school in 1927. she attended South Dakota State University
in Brookings, S.D., graduating with a B.S. degree in Home Economics
in 1931. She taught two years in Groton, S.D.
On June 18, 1933, she was married to Glenn W. Franks at her
home in Fulton, S.D. She and her husband farmed near Fulton
until 1937, when they moved to a farm near Clear Lake. They
moved to the present farm in 1942.
Dorothy and Glenn spent 19 winters in Arizona. He preceded
her in death Oct. 29, 1990.
She was a life member of the United Methodist Church, where
she taught Sunday School for 20 years. She also enjoyed membership
in the Sorosis Club and Oakland Club. She enjoyed cooking, reading
and just being a homemaker.
She is survived by three sons, Richard L. Franks and his wife,
Yvonne of Cresco, J. Robert Franks and his wife, Maureen, of
Alexandria Va., and G. Ronald Franks and his wife, Lucille of
Clear Lake; eight grandchildren, Barbara Larsen, Vicky Reicks,
Julie Cross, Amy Thompson, Patricia Porcarelli, James Franks,
Daniel Franks and Lisa Franks; 10 great-grandchildren, three
step-great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.

Ralph Ellsworth Day was born. Dec. 20, 1906, in Whitten, Iowa.

Louis Seebeck was born Aug. 26, 1917, on a farm near Kanawha.
Survivors include four brothers, Gerge Seebeck of Outlook, Wash.,
Henry Seebeck of Britt, Clarence Seebeck of Britt, and Ben Seebeck
of Kanawha.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, one brother and
one sister.

Norbert J. Thome, 62, of Stacyville, died Sunday (Dec. 22, 1996)
in Denver, Colo.

Norbert J. Thome was born Jan. 19, 1934, in Stacyville.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara C. Thome, Stacyville; three

and Kim Bruggeman of Stacyville; five grandchildren; one sister,
Eleanor Gerk; and two brothers, Gregor Thome and Clarence Thome.

Karl Francis Vaughn
WASHINGTON, D.C.
Karl Francis Vaughn, 68, of Washington, D.C., died Thursday
(Nov. 21, 1996) at the Military Soldiers Home.
Services were held on Dec. 5, 1996, at the Arlington National
Cemetery, Arlington, Va.
Karl was born Feb. 6, 1928, in Mason City, to Erwin Francis
and Helen (Ross) Vaughn.
Karl grew up in Mason City. He served in the armed forces,
then worked as an insurance adjuster for Kempers Insurance and
as a bookkeeper for the Mason City, Iowa, Fire Department.
Karl will be missed. His last wish was to be back in Mason City,
with all of his friends.
Pray for Karl as he prays for thee until merrily we join him
up in heaven.
He is survived by a sister-in-law, Mrs. John E. (Winnie) Vaughn
of Edina, Minn.; nephews, Mark Ross Vaughn, and Martin ``Marty''
Francis Vaughn; also many cousins, Bill McNeely, Don Vaughn,
Gretchen Mariucci Badalich, Helen Taylor and Bob Frieler.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Erwin Francis Vaughn
and Helen Ross Vaughn; and two brothers, Ross Vaughn and Jack
Vaughn.

Stacy L. Allen, 26, of 3022 Seventh Ave. S., Fort Dodge, formerly
of Mason City, died Sunday (Dec. 22, 1996) at the Hamilton County
Hospital, Webster City.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Trinity
Lutheran Church, 213 N. Pennsylvania Ave., with the Rev. Arne
C. Bergland officiating. Following the service, the body will
be cremated with the committal service to be held on Friday,
Dec. 27, at Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. Thursday
at the Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave.,
and one hour prior to services at the church.
Memorials may be given to the Stacy L. Allen Memorial Fund.
Stacy L. Allen was born Dec. 25, 1969, in Mason City, the son
of James and Penny (Hoff) Allen.
He graduated from Mason City High School in 1988.
Stacy moved to Des Moines in 1990 and was employed by Seneca
Tank of Des Moines.
He married Sheri Mitchell on July 24, 1993, in Mason City.
In June of 1994, they moved to Fort Dodge.
Among a few of the things Stacy enjoyed doing with his family
and friends were snowmobile and motocross racing, playing pool,
foosball and camping. Whenever Stacy did something, he gave it
100 percent and no one will ever forget his practical jokes.
Survivors include his wife, Sheri Allen of Fort Dodge; parents,
James and Penny Allen of Des Moines; father and mother-in-law,
Robert and Shirley Mitchell of Mason City; one sister, Shelly
Radcliff and her husband, Brian, of Mason City; paternal grandparents,
Donald Sr. and RosieMary Allen of Mason City; sisters-in-law,
Stacie Mitchell of Mason City, and Julie Draper and her husband,
Mike, of Mason City; nieces and nephews, Samantha Radcliff, Scott
Radcliff, Hailey Draper, Kylie Draper, and Cody Draper; and many
aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Violet
Rassmusson, and great uncle, Marion (Dick) Hoff.

Wayne was born Oct. 1, 1908, at Liscomb, Iowa, the son of Lloyd
E. and Ova P. (Boyle) Ravlin.
He graduated from Nora Springs High School in 1928 and graduated
from Hamilton Business College.
He was married to Dorothy Mae Squier on Oct. 20, 1929, at Nora
Springs and had lived in Mason City since.
Wayne worked as an auditor for Interstate Power Company for
the Mason City District for 44 years, retiring in 1973.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church.
He was Past Master of Benevolence Lodge #145 A.F. & A.M., High
Twelve, North Iowa Shrine Club, former member of the Mason City
Lions Club and the Elks Lodge.
He is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Paul L. and Lea
Ravlin, of Dayton, Ohio; grandsons, Gregory Paul Ravlin and his
wife, Patricia, Dayton, Ohio, and Jeffrey Howard Ravlin and his
wife, Jennifer, Dayton, Ohio; daughter-in-law, Judy Ravlin, Boise,
Idaho; grandchildren, Kimberly J. Spence and her husband, Chris,
Boise, Idaho, Kelly L. Ravlin of Boise, Idaho, and Christopher
Ravlin, Boise, Idaho; great-grandchildren, Deleah, Courtney,
Madeline Erin, Jacquelyn Mae and Nicole Elise; and a sister,
Margaret M. Kraft, Rockford, Ill.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mae, in October
of 1996; son, Gary, in 1983; a brother, Eldon; and an infant
sister.

at the church.
Marie Verbrugge was born May 28, 1911, in Kanawha.
Survivors include one sister, Pauline Crawford, Traer; and one
brother, John Verbrugge, Kanawaha.
