Myrtle Marie Everhart

NORTHWOOD



Myrtle Marie Everhart, 76, of Northwood, died Monday (Dec.

9, 1996) at the Thorne Crest Retirement Center, Albert Lea, Minn.



Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 12, 1996,

at the Conner Colonial Chapel, 99-11th St. S., with the Rev.

Robert W. Luebbert of the Northwood Baptist Church officiating.

Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Highway 18 West, Mason

City.



Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. today and one hour prior to

service time on Thursday at the chapel.



Myrtle Marie Everhart was born on April 25, 1920, the daughter

of William Earl and Lila (Lurth) Harris in Mason City.



She attended and received her education in the Mason City School

System.



She was united in marriage to Henry A. Everhart  on Sept. 26,

1939, in Waterloo.



He preceded her in death on Jan. 29, 1987. After their marriage

together, they farmed in the Bolan and Otranto area before moving

to the Northwood area where they continued to farm until their

retirement and moving into Northwood in 1974.



Myrtle also was a waitress at the Youngs Cafe and Midway Cafe

in Northwood. She also worked for Thompson Trucking and Drurey

Lanes in Northwood and for Land O'Lakes in Albert Lea, Minn.



She enjoyed fishing, crocheting, knitting, playing cards and

bowling.



She was a member of the Northwood Baptist Church and the Northwood

Senior Citizens Center in Northwood. She was a former member

of Our Buddies VFW Memorial Post Ladies Auxiliary #6779 in Northwood

and was a former member of Elk Creek Lutheran Church, rural Kensett.



Survivors include two sons, Marvin Leroy Everhart and his wife,

Shirley, of Hayward, Minn., and William Henry Everhart and his

wife, Paige, of Buffalo, Wyo.; two daughters, Lori Jo Saltou

and her husband, Steven, of Plymouth, Minn., and Patricia Ann

Everhart of Rathdrum, Idaho; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren;

one brother, Lawrence Harris of Phoenix, Ariz.; as well as other

relatives and friends.



Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents;

one granddaughter; two brothers, Fred and Warren Harris; and

one sister, Ella May Carrberry.

Tamara Jo Faulkner

WEST PLAINS, Mo.  



Tamara Jo Faulkner, 36, of West Plains, died at 3:15 a.m. Saturday

(Dec. 7, 1996) at her home, near West Plains.



Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 10, at the

Faith Assembly of God Church, with interment in Howell Valley

Cemetery under the direction of Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.



Memorial contributions in memory of Tamara Jo Faulkner may be

made to Birthright or Riverways Hospice and may be left at

Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.



Mrs. Faulkner was born Aug. 3, 1960, at Des Moines, Iowa, the

daughter of Norman D. and Mary Jo Brawdy Riekens.



She graduated from Northeast Missouri State University of Kirksville,

receiving a B.S. in Education.



On Aug. 13, 1982, she was married at Corydon, Iowa, to Dr. Marvin

Lynn Faulkner.



Mrs. Faulkner was a Christian and attended the Faith Assembly

of God Church of West Plains.



Mrs. Faulkner is survived by her husband, Dr. Lynn Faulkner

of the family home; three children, Taylor Joe Faulkner, Ali

Lynn Faulkner and Gentry Kate Faulkner, all of the family home;

her parents, Norman and Mary Jo Riekens of Corydon, Iowa; one

sister, Kathy Dennis, Independence, Mo.; her grandmother, Lois

Audrey Riekens, Mason City, Iowa; her father-in-law, Marvin Faulkner

and wife, Odie, South Fulton, Tenn.; two nephews; one niece;

and several aunts and uncles.



She was preceded in death by three grandparents.

Jessica Lynn Manus, infant daughter of Daniel and Sherry (Krabbe)

Manus, was stillborn Sunday (Dec. 8, 1996) at North Iowa Mercy

Health Center East, Mason City.



Private family funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday

at the Tenold Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Clyde Kieschnick

of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Garner, officiating. Interment

will be at Ell Township Cemetery.



She is survived by her parents, Daniel and Sherry Manus of Klemme;

brother, Jordan, and sister, Jenna, both at home; maternal grandparents,

Mr. and Mrs. Willard Krabb of Thornton; paternal grandfather,

Larry Manus of Burt; paternal grandmother, Mrs. Arlene Anderson

of Klemme; great-grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. James Krabbe of Latimer;

and great-grandmothers, Johanna Christensen of Thornton and Mrs.

Lydia Manus of Burt.

Estella G. Carstens, 97, of 109 Mission Drive, Buffalo Center,

and a former Mason City resident, died Monday (Dec. 9, 1996)

at the Timely Mission Nursing Home, Buffalo Center.



Funeral services are tentatively planned for 1:30 p.m. Friday

at St. James Lutheran Church, 1148 Fourth St. S.E., Mason City,

with the Rev. David Anderson officiating. Interment will be at

Memorial Park Cemetery, Mason City.

Mavis E. (Hassel) Jensen, 71, of 208 N. Park, died Tuesday

(Dec. 10, 1996) at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason

City.

Roger F. `Jake' Jacobsen

CLEAR LAKE



Roger F. ``Jake'' Jacobsen, 62, of 1804 W. Seventh Ave. N.,

died Tuesday (Dec.10, 1996) of complications of a rare illness

called Shy-Drager disease.



Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Zion Lutheran

Church,  with the Rev. Kermit Roisen officiating. There will

be no visitation prior to services.



Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 N. Fourth St., is in charge

of arrangements.



The family suggests memorial contributions to Hospice of North

Iowa or Clear Lake Public Library.



Roger was born Sept. 15, 1934, in Humboldt, the son of Jens

and Helena (Sondegaard) Jacobsen. He graduated from Paton High

School in 1952.



Roger married Carol Calvert on Feb. 14, 1953, in Minneapolis,

Minn.



Roger had worked for Fareway Grocery for over 30 years and

the last 20 years in the Clear Lake Fareway store as meat market

manager and retired in 1990 due to his illness.



Roger enjoyed many hobbies including reading, fishing, woodcarving,

playing bridge and gardening. He really enjoyed his cat, Otis.



For many years, he was a member of Minnesota Woodcarving Association

and Men's Bridge Club. Roger was a member of the Zion Lutheran

Church, Clear Lake, and Clear Lake Noon Lions.



Roger is survived by his wife, Carol Jacobsen, of Clear Lake;

two children, Darcy Hook and her husband, Steve, of Mason City,

and Thomas Jacobsen and his wife, Sook, of Ida Grove; four grandchildren,

Stephanie Hook, Sean Hook, Mujigae Jacobsen and Peri Jacobsen;

and two brothers, Leslie Jacobsen and his wife, Eunice, of Spencer,

and the Rev. Leonard Jacobsen and his wife, Evelyn, of Minneapolis,

Minn.



He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Richard

and Robert Jacobsen.

Mavis E. Jensen, 71, 208 N. Park, died Tuesday (Dec. 10, 1996)

at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City.



Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Salem Lutheran

Church, with the Rev. Roger Dykstra and the Rev. Sara Akre officiating.

Burial will be in Beaver Creek Cemetery, rural Joice.



Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Mittelstadt

Funeral Home, and one hour prior to services at the church.



Mavis E. Jensen was born Oct. 22, 1925, in Bristol Township.



She is survived by her children, Dennis Hassel of Brooklyn Park,

Minn.; Rhonda Charlton of Joice; Mark Hassel of Lake Mills; stepson,

Mark Jensen of Rice, Minn.; nine grandchildren; and one brother,

Floyd Gilbertson of Apple Valley, Minn.



She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband,

her second husband and one sister.

OSAGE 



Floyd F. Whalen, 73, of Osage, died Tuesday (Dec. 10, 1996)

at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City.



Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Sacred

Heart Catholic Church, with the Rev. Dennis Cahill officiating.

Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery, with military rites

by the Osage VFW Post #7920 and Osage American Legion Post #278.



Visitation will be held from 2:30 to 9 p.m. today at the Champion

Funeral Home, with a 3 p.m. rosary, a 7:30 p.m. parish Scripture

service and an 8:30 p.m. Knights of Columbus rosary.



Floyd F. Whalen was born April 14, 1923, in Cresco.



Survivors include his wife, Eileen, of Osage; five daughters,

Lois Freiermuth, Elmwood, Wis.; Kathleen Wencl of Austin, Minn.;

Darlene Strouf, Lyle, Minn.; Arlene Gibson of Gilman, Wis., and

Lori Wilde,  Osage; three sons, Dennis Whalen of Lyle, Minn.;

and James Whalen of Winona, Minn.; three sisters, Gladys Bednar

of Austin, Minn., Ruth Carolan of Austin, Minn., and Cecelia

Martin of Lyle, Minn.; three brothers, Alois Whalen of Rockford,

Ill.; Oliver Whalen of Rose Creek, Minn., and Patrick Whalen

of Cresco; 24 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.



He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, one sister

and two brothers.

Arthur H. Boehmer, 87, of McIntire, died Tuesday (Dec. 10, 1996)

at the Stacyville Community Nursing Home.



Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Immaculate

Conception Catholic Church, Riceville. Burial will be in the

Calvary Cemetery, Elma.



Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the Conway

Funeral Home, Riceville, with a 7 p.m. Scripture service.



He is survived by one daughter, Lois Duryee of McIntire; and

one son, James Boehmer of Yates City, Ill.



He was preceded in death by his wife, an infant son, four brothers

and six sisters.

Geneva H. Bruns

HUMBOLDT



Geneva H. Bruns, 66, of Humboldt, died  Wednesday (Dec. 11,

1996) at the Humboldt Care Center North, after an extended illness.



Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Friday at the Mason-Lindhart

Funeral Home. There will be no visitation.



Geneva Wilson was born Oct. 22, 1930, at LuVerne. She was educated

there, lived at Britt, and was employed as a secretary at Winnebago

Industries.



She was united in marriage to Paul S. Bruns Sr., on May 13,

1978, at Las Vegas, Nev.



They lived at Charles City, and later in California and Arizona,

until moving to Humboldt in retirement four years ago.



Mrs. Bruns is survived by her husband, Paul S. Bruns Sr. of

Humboldt; sons, Craig Daugard of San Diego, Calif., and Mark

Daugard of York, Pa.; daughters, Debby Ford, San Diego, Calif.,

Paula Daugard of Virginia, and Nancy Owen of St. Louis; 15 grandchildren;

one great-grandchild; sisters, Bea McCurry of Humboldt; Velma

Rennenger of Humboldt; Bonnie Medlang, Mesa, Ariz., and Marjorie

Rath of Lone Rock.



She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers.

CLARION



Marion Veldhouse, 77, of Clarion, died Tuesday (Dec. 10, 1996)

at Mercy Hospital Medical Center, Des Moines.



Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the First

United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Charles Kellogg officiating.

Burial will be in the Amsterdam Cemetery, Kanawha.



Visitation will be held  from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the Willim

Funeral Home.



Marion Veldhouse was born Jan. 13, 1919, in Kanawha.



Survivors include his wife, Ila Mae of Clarion; two daughters,

Darlene M. Harrell of Mesa, Ariz., and Janice McMahon, Phoenix,

Ariz.; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and two

sisters, Pearl Wilkinson and Jennie Arends, both of Kanawha.



He was preceded in death by his parents.

Estella was born on Nov. 29, 1899, near Delphos, one of five

daughters of Dennis and Margaret (Lahs) Rush.



She graduated from Indianola High School and then attended Simpson

College. She began her teaching career in Mount Vernon and Bath

Townships.



She and her five sisters, ``the Rush Sisters'' were an instrumental

music group that gave concerts in area churches during their

school years and later she sang for many funerals. She remained

active in music and was a tutor for children.



She was united in marriage to Sophus Carstens on New Year's

Day, Jan. 1, 1922, at her parent's house in Brownsdale, Minn.



They lived on a farm near Burchinal before retiring to Mason

City. In her later years, she spent her life with her niece,

Margaret and her husband, Harlan Johnson, at Thompson, and entered

the Timely Mission Nursing Home, Buffalo Center, in 1990.



Estella is survived by her sister-in-law, Mona Carstens, Mason

City; and many nieces and nephews.



She was preceded in death by her husband on Sept. 20, 1976;

one infant son, Daniel; her parents; and four sisters, Esther

Nuzum, Ruth Ziemer, Zella Hendricks and Naomi Luckow.

Leon Richard Haxton

OMAHA, Neb.



Leon Richard Haxton, 50, of Omaha, died Monday (Dec. 9, 1996)

at Omaha.



Funeral services will be held at noon Friday at the Christ the

King Catholic Church, Omaha, Interment will be in Calvary Catholic

Cemetery, Omaha.



There will be a wake service at 7 p.m. today at  Christ the

King Catholic Church.



John A. Gentleman Mortuaries, 1010 N. 72nd St., Omaha, Neb.,

is in charge of arrangements.



Memorials may be made to Christ the King Educational Trust Fund,

Creighton Prep Bank or Mercy High School Capital Campaign in

his memory.



Leon Richard Haxton was born March 12, 1946, in Mason City,

Iowa, to Clarence Wade and Ann (Duda) Haxton.



He was a 25 year employee of United Parcel Service.



He is survived by his wife, Susan (Daly) Haxton; son, John Paul

Haxton; daughter, Sarah Haxton; mother, Anna Opsahl; brother

and sister-in-law, Jerry and Aivetta Haxton; sister and brother-

in-law, Sharon and Howard Hopkins; and nieces and nephews.



He was preceded in death by one sister,  Virginia Ashburn.

Alice Fredrickson

FOREST CITY 



Alice Fredrickson, 93, of Forest City, died Tuesday (Dec. 10,

1996) at the Titonka Care Center, Titonka.



Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Immanuel

Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Lee Laaveg officiating. Burial

will be in Oakland Cemetery.



Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the Petersen

Lund Funeral Home, 505 N. Clark St.



Alice A. Fredrickson was born on a farm west of Forest City,

on April 5, 1903, the daughter of Peter N. and Augusta (Johonson)

Anderson.



She attended and received her education in a rural school in

Hancock County.



She was united in marriage to Eddie Fredrickson on Feb. 25,

1925.



They farmed around the Forest City area, raising three children,

Arlys, Dean and Marvin.



They retired and moved into Forest City in 1964.



Alice worked as a cook at the school for seven years before

retiring.



She enjoyed her home, knitting, crocheting, reading and writing

letters.



Her greatest love was her family and grandchildren.



She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and active in Circle,

WELCA and the Senior Commnity Center.



She is survived by one daughter, Arlys Swingen and husband,

Russell, of Forest City; one son, Dean Fredrickson and his wife,

Anne, of Carroll; one daughter-in-law, Mary Franzen and her husband,

Ray, of Titonka; one brother, Stanley Anderson of Albert Lea,

Minn.; two sisters-in-law; seven grandchildren, Mark and Rodney

Swingen, Michael and Scott Fredrickson, Shelly Kordes, Lisa Brinker

and Timothy Fredrickson; 12 great-grandchildren; one great-great-

grandson; and several nieces and nephews.



She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Eddie Fredrickson;

son, Marvin Fredrickson; grandson, Dennis Swingen; five sisters,

Lillian Thomson, Hattie Schaeffer, Minnie Abbey, Nina and Stella

Anderson; and four brothers, Oscar, Manly, Wallace and Alford

Anderson.

Hubert C. `Hub' Janka

MASON CITY



Hubert C. ``Hub'' Janka, 65, of 21226 Vine Ave., died Thursday

(Dec. 12, 1996) at home.



Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Major

Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave., with the Rev.

David Beckman of Holy Family Catholic Church officiating. Interment

will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.



Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. today and until time

of services on Saturday at Major Erickson Funeral Home.



Memorials may be given to the Hubert C. ``Hub'' Janka Memorial

Fund.



Hubert C. ``Hub'' Janka was born on June 16, 1931 in Wells,

Minn.



Hubert attended school in Wells, Minn. and then served in the

U.S. Army for 1 years. Hub moved to Mason City and worked for

a short time at Jacob E. Decker & Sons.



Hubert married Patricia ``Pat'' Williams on Nov. 24, 1954 in

Mason City.



Hubert then worked for Northwestern States Portland Cement Company

for 10 years and then he worked as a car salesman for several

North Iowa dealerships.



 In 1973, he bought his own semi tractor and was a self-employed

truck driver until he retired in February of 1995.



Hubert was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church.



Survivors include two sons, Mike Janka and his wife, Sue, Clear

Lake, and Marv Janka and his wife, Rhonda, Mason City; one daughter,

Anita Fox and her husband, Joe, of Janesville, Wis.; seven grandchildren,

Jennifer, Jason, Jeremy, Theresa, Dan, Kara, and Hillary; four

great-grandchildren, Alex, Jason, Jordyn, and Jade; two sisters,

Rita Piper, of Austin, Minn., and Eleanor Zaharris, of Austin,

Minn.; and several nieces and nephews.



Hubert was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia ``Pat'' Janka

in July of 1995; and one sister, Margaret.

Nettie E. Stromley, 97, of St. Ansgar, died Thursday (Dec.

12, 1996) at the Faith Home, Osage.



Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Immanuel

Lutheran Church, St. Ansgar, with the Rev. Chris Gugel officiating.

Burial will be in Deer Creek Cemetery, Carpenter.



Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the Schroeder

and Sites Funeral Home, St. Ansgar.



Nettie E. Stromley was born Oct. 3, 1899 to Ole and Laura (Meyer)

Halverson, in Wisconsin.



Nettie was confirmed at Six Mile Grove Church, Lyle, Minn.



Nettie married Carl Stromley on Feb. 19, 1919, at First Lutheran

Church, St. Ansgar.



Nettie resided most of her life in the Carpenter and Mona areas.



Nettie is survived by her children, Loretta Hofland and her

husband, Ira, Lyle, Minn.; Ruth Patterson and her husband, Darrell,

St. Ansgar; Louise McPhail and her husband, Robert, Osage; Mary

Jane Rieman and her husband, Jurn, Rudd; Rose Rekow, Inver Grove

Heights, Minn.; Inez Hommez and her husband, Francis, of Osage;

Carl Jr. and his wife, Jackie, Lily Lake, Ill.; Gladys Groth

and her husband, Arnold, St. Ansgar; Kenneth Stromley, St. Ansgar;

Lillian Warrington, St. Ansgar; Betty Tollefson and her husband,

David, Lamberton, Minn.; and Diane Petznick and her husband,

Glen, St. Ansgar; 47 grandchildren; 80 great-grandchildren; and

15 great-great-grandchildren.



He was preceded in death by his parents, husband, one son, one

infant daughter, one infant son, one granddaughter, four sisters,

and four brothers.

Leonard A. Goddard, 87, of 510 Sixth Ave., died Wednesday (Dec.

11, 1996) at the Riverside Chautauqua Guest Home.



Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Hauser

Funeral Home, 1205 S. Main St., Charles City, with the Rev. Debra

Lincoln, associate pastor of the Trinity United Methodist Church,

officiating. Burial will be in the Riverside Cemetery.



Visitation will be held from noon to 9 p.m. today at the Hauser

Funeral Home, and from 9 a.m. until time of services.



Leonard Archie Goddard was born April 27, 1909, in Fort Atkinson.



Survivors include his wife, Clarice, of Charles City; one daughter,

Rosalie Pieper, of Charles City; two grandchildren; and one great-

granddaughter.



He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, and one

brother.



Memorials may be directed to the Heart to Home Hospice, the

Trinity United Methodist Church, or the Pythian Sisters.

Agnes B. Mellang, 84, of Clarion, died Thursday (Dec. 12, 1996)

at the home of her sister, Clarion.



Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, at the First

Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Gerald Dyste, officiating. Burial

will be in Evergreen Cemetery.



Visitation will be held from 11:30 a.m. until time of services

at the church.



Willim Funeral Home, Clarion, is in charge of arrangements.



Agnes B. Mellang, was born May 5, 1912, on a farm near Leland.



Survivors include one son, Lanny Mellang, Rising Sun, Ind.;

three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild; three sisters,

Hazel Becket, of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada; Bergil

Whitman, Clarion, and Elvina Moen, of Chicago, Ill.



She was preceded in death by parents, and seven brothers.

MASON CITY 



Nellie Parks, 71, of Mason City, died Wednesday (Dec. 12, 1996)

at the North Iowa Mercy Health Center East.

Nellie Parks was born Feb. 15, 1925 in Chapin.



Survivors include two sisters, Helen Terrill, and Evelyn ``Babe''

Cemetery, Corwith, with the Rev. Stephen Bibb officiating.



Garry-Roberts-Murphy-Schaaf Funeral Home, Corwith, is in charge

Evelyn Stephens was born on Oct. 28, 1917, in Corwith, the daughter

of William and Evalena (Robinson) Perkins.



Evelyn graduated from Corwith High School in 1936.



Evelyn Perkins was united in marriage to Clarence Stephens on

June 8, 1936, in Des Moines.



She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the

Ladies Camera Club at the Fraternal Order of the Eagles Club,

in Austin, Minn.



She is survived by son, Gary Stephens and his wife, Jan, of

Lakeville, Minn.; daughter, Joan Carman and her husband, Norbert,

of Austin, Minn.; son, Bill Stephens and his wife, Syl, of Waumakee,

Wis.; son, Randy Stephens and his wife, Deborah, of Onalaska,

Wis.; and son, Ricky Stephens, of Dexter, Minn.; 15 grandchildren;

10 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Maxine Risvold, of Clear

Lake.



She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Clarence;

one son, Merrill; one brother, Cy Perkins and his wife, Fern;

and one sister, Rowene Bilbrey.

Alfred Andrew Beardmore was born March 20, 1917, at Rochester,

Survivors include his wife, Dorothea, of Charles City; one son,

Thomas Beardmore, of Houston, Texas; one daughter, Laird Ling,

of Denver, Colo.; and five grandchildren.



He was preceded in death by his parents.

C. Duane Johnson, 72, died Saturday (Dec. 14, 1996) at North

Iowa Mercy Health Center, Mason City.

United Methodist Church with the Rev. Kathryn Bell officiating.

C. Duane Johnson was born in Dows on May 24, 1924, the son of

Clifford and Edith (Williams) Johnson.  He attended and received

his education in Iowa Falls and graduated from Popejoy.  He was

a World War II Army veteran.  Following the service he returned

to Dows and was employed at the Ralston Purina Plant, and later

for Franklin County.



He was united in marriage to Lois Oneta Zimmerman on June 30,

1951 in the Aredale Methodist Church.



He continued to work for Franklin County until he became engaged

in farming in the Aredale area.  He farmed until he retired in

1989.



Duane was a dedicated member of the Aredale United Methodist

Church and taught Sunday school and served on several boards,

including the building committee.  He was an active member of

the Vulcan Lodge AMAF of Bristow.  He took his Scottish Rites

in Cedar Rapids and then entered into the Shrine where he was

active in El Kahir motorcycle unit.  He also belonged to the

Greene Legion.  He served on community elevator boards, phone

boards, was a 4-H leader, and on numerous boards in the community.

His hobbies included woodworking and fishing.  He greatly enjoyed

his grandchildren and family.



He is survived by his wife, Lois Johnson of Hampton; three children

and their spouses, Pam and Dave Rusinack of Sheffield, Mark and

Penny Johnson of Greene, and Kent and Kelly Johnson of Cedar

Falls; six grandchildren, Nathan and Nicole Rusinack of Sheffield,

Cale and Cie Ann Johnson of Greene, Alex and Lauren Johnson of

Cedar Falls; two brothers, Harold Johnson and his wife, Maxine,

of Loveland, Colo., and Robert Johnson and his wife, Muriel,

of Iowa Falls; and one sister, Pat Schumacher and her husband,

LaVerne, of Alden; and a host of other family and friends.



He was preceded in death by his parents.

Gladys Dougherty was born Sept. 1, 1902, in Dougherty, the daughter

of Barney and Ella (Mullin) Dougherty.  Gladys graduated from

St. Patrick's Catholic School in Dougherty.  She helped out on

the family farm.  She loved flowers, gardening and walking around

the farm.  She enjoyed visiting on the phone with her friends,

especially Margaritha Hogan.



She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, St. Patrick's

Ladies Auxiliary, and an active member of the Dougherty Senior

Citizens.



Survivors include her cousins, Ed Dougherty and family of Rockwell,

Bernice Hagarty and family of Greene, Martin Mullin and family

of Dougherty, Mary Lou Peterson and family of Rockwell, Clark

Dougherty and family of Dougherty, Dick Geary and family of Mason

City, Liz Dougherty of San Diego, Calif., Molly Critton of Madison,

Wis., Dan and Barney Dougherty, both of Dougherty, and numerous

other cousins and family members.



She was preceded in death by her parents; four sisters, Marie,

Ann, and Edna Dougherty, and Vera Rameker; two special cousins,

Sister Mary Robertelle, and Robert Dougherty; and many other

cousins and family members.

LeRoy A. Bohl was born April 26, 1923 in Buffalo Center, the

son of Andrew and Emma (Curtis) Bohl.  He graduated from Ventura

High School, and then enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served during

World War II.  Roy was discharged in 1945 and returned to Mason

City to work for Mason CIty Tile and Marble, where he worked

for 20 years.  Roy worked for Payne Plumbing for 10 years, retiring

in 1982.  He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, animals, birds and

spending time with his family.



He is survived by his loving family, his wife, Dorothy Bohl

of Mason City; daughter, Sheila Edgar and her husband, Gordon,

of Muscatine; son, Dan Bohl and his wife, Carol, of Mason City;

step-sons, Warren Russeff, Bill Russeff and his wife, Mary, and

Wes Russeff, all of Mason City; step-daughter, Wendy Kinnan and

her husband, Larry, of Mason City; grandchildren, Abby, Brad

and Maggie Bohl, Michelle Waters, Matt and Erin Edgar, Alyssa

and Stacy Russeff, Holly, Sarah and Ashley Kinnan, and Mariah,

Kayden and Billy Knutson; great-grandson, Cain Lugar; sisters,

Bonnie Borchardt and her husband, Dale, of Rock Falls, Phyllis

Weydert and her husband, Simon, of Rockwell, Rosalie Paulson

Nina B. Nahas was born April 26, 1928 in Manly, the daughter

of Louis A. and Inez M. Gardner Collis.  She was employed as

a secretary with the United States Government, the State of Iowa,

the Mason City Globe-Gazette, and Bethlehem Lutheran Church,

Manly.



Survivors include one daughter, Pamela Harstad of Evansdale;

a sister, Marguerite Russell of Waterloo; and a brother, Theodore

Collis of Waterloo.
