Pam Brown was born Nov. 30, 1953, in Forest City.
Survivors include her mother, Viola E. Brown of Forest City;

She was preceded in death by her father and one sister.

Herman O. Ransom, 85, of 603 Cedar St., Charles City, died
Monday (July 29, 1996) at the Floyd County Memorial Hospital.
Memorial graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday
at the Grand View Cemetery, Austin, Minn., with the Rev. Jim
McDonald of the Bethany Alliance Church, Charles City, officiating.
The Hauser Funeral Home, 1205 S. Main St., Charles City, is
in charge of arrangements.
Herman Oliver Ransom was born Oct. 31, 1910, in Chickasaw County.
Survivors include his wife, Carol, of Charles City; one stepdaughter,
Karen Sue Huisman of Sioux City; three stepsons, Terry Ransom
of Clarksville, Charles Ransom of Belleville, Ill., and E. Douglas
Ransom of Lynwood, Calif.; 10 grandchildren; one great-grandchild;
one brother, George Ransom of Lyle, Minn.; and one sister, Dorothy
Clark of Austin, Minn.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters.
Memorials may be directed to the Heart to Home Hospice of Charles
City.

Alvin M. ``Ike'' Dahle, 85, of 1708 Kingslake Blvd., Naples,
Fla., formerly of Clear Lake, Iowa, died Tuesday (July 30, 1996)

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Ward-Van
Slyke Colonial Chapel, Clear Lake, with the Rev. Fred Lewis of
the Clear Lake United Methodist Church officiating. Interment
will be in the Clear Lake Cemetery, with military honors by the
Clear Lake V.F.W.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the funeral
home.
The family suggests memorials to the Alvin M. Dahle Memorial

Ike M. Dahle was born Dec. 4, 1910, in Kensett, Iowa, the son
of Lars M. and Andrena (Hauge) Dahle.
He attended school in Kensett, Iowa.
Ike then went to work for Emery and Verna Ouverson and proceeded
to make his home with them.
Ike entered the United States Army in 1942 and was in active
duty with the Medical Corps during World War II, spending most
of his tour of duty in the South Pacific.
Upon his discharge, Ike returned to Clear Lake and worked for
Nichols Wire and Key Wholesale until his retirement in 1975.
After his retirement, he spent winters in Florida, and finally
moved there permanently in 1992.
Ike was a member of the Clear Lake V.F.W. and AmVets.
He is survived by one sister, Alice Rinn, of Minneapolis, Minn.;
one sister-in-law, Marie Dahle, of Mason City, Iowa; and a good
friend, Verna Ouverson and her family, of Naples, Fla.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Max
and Lloyd Dahle.

Marjorie C. Hill, 84, of Belmond, died Wednesday (July 31, 1996)
at the Belmond Health Care Center.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the St.
Olaf Lutheran Church, Belmond, with the Rev. Lowell Halvorson
officiating. Burial will be in the St. Olaf Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 2 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Tenold
Funeral Home, with the family greeting friends from 5:30 to 7:30
p.m. Visitation will continue one hour prior to services at the
church.
Memorials may be given to the Marjorie C. Hill Memorial Fund.
Marjorie Cecil Hill, daughter of Tommie L. and Mayme (Uhr) Thompson,
was born on Friday, Dec. 29, 1911, in Eagle Grove, Iowa.
Marjorie was baptized and confirmed in the Evangelical Lutheran
Church in Eagle Grove. After high school she taught country school
near Eagle Grove from 1932-1939.
On Aug. 30, 1939, Marjorie married Chester Hill in Grand Rapids,
Minn.
She and Chet lived on a farm west of Belmond until 1979, and
then retired to Belmond.
Marge was a member of St. Olaf ALCW and Home Study Club.
For the past 28 years, she and Chet have enjoyed wintering in
Arizona.
Marjorie enjoyed cooking, baking and spending time with her
family and friends.
She is survived by her husband, Chester, of Belmond; son, Tom
Hill and his wife, Chryl, of Belmond; daughter, Jane Quinlivan
of Owantonna, Minn.; grandchildren, Jarrod and Jonathan Quinlivan
of Owatonna, Minn., Robert Hill and his wife, Melissa, of Belmond;
Barbara (Hill) Meyer and her husband, Jeff; and great-grandson,
Lucas Meyer, of Corwith, Iowa.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Elsie Bowman;
and brother, Milford Thompson.

Vivian Galloway, 85, passed away Monday (July 29, 1996) at
the Heritage Care Center.

Vivian was born on Nov. 10, 1910, in McKenzie, N.D., the daughter
of Henry and Mary (Calhoun) Polmateer.
She graduated from Renwick High School.
On May 10, 1929, Vivian was united in marriage to Merrold Galloway.
Following their marriage, they resided in the Belmond and Hampton
areas.
In 1942, the couple moved to Mason City where Vivian was employed
by Mode-O-Day on the sewing line.
After retiring in 1986, Vivian enjoyed reading and spending
as much time with family as possible.
Vivian was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Mason
City.
Vivian is survived by three granddaughters: Mrs. Chuck (Debra)
Ross of Huron, S.D.; Mrs. Micheal (Karen) Murphy of Montigue,
Calif.; Denise Symes of Mason City; one grandson, Dennis Free
and his wife, Marilyn, of Chicago, Ill.; one sister, Ella Drescher
of Omaha, Neb.; 13 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Merrold; three children:
Carol Free, Darlene Foley and Robert Galloway; one great-granddaughter;
her parents; three sisters; and three brothers.

Wilbur J. ``Bill'' Phelps, 82, of 22 N. Tennessee Ave., died
Tuesday (July 30, 1996) at the I.O.O.F. Home.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Hanford
Community Church, with the Rev. Mark Culham of the Hanford Community
Church and the Rev. Dr. F. Cole Fowler of the Waverly United
Methodist Church, Waverly, Neb., officiating.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Major Erickson
Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave., and one hour prior to
services at the church on Friday.
Memorials may be given to the Wilbur J. Phelps Memorial Fund.
Wilbur was born Aug. 8, 1913, at Colesburg, Iowa, the son of
Wilbur and Stella I. (Fishel) Phelps.
He graduated from Colesburg High School.
He worked in Cedar Rapids for a short time in the early 30s,
then moved to Oakdale in 1933 where he ran a dairy operation.
He was married to Virgie Belle Hardy on Sept. 23, 1934, at Hampton,
Iowa.
She preceded him in death on April 27, 1993.
They moved to Mason City in 1954 where Wilbur worked for the
Marigold Dairy retiring in 1978 after 25 years.
Wilbur was married to Rose E. Stoltenberg Oct. 9, 1993 at the
Hanford Community Church.
He was a member of the Hanford Community Church, rural Mason
City. He was active in the I.O.O.F. Lodge for over 50 years.
He was past grand patriarch of I.O.O.F.
Survivors include his wife, Rose E. Phelps, of Mason City; son,
Harry Wilbur ``Bill'' Phelps and his wife, Lea, of Clearwater,
Fla.; daughter, Judy L. Phelps, of Clearwater, Fla.; son, Gene
L. Phelps and his wife, Connie, of Fullerton, Calif.; daughter,
Nette F. Mammaro and her husband, Bill, of Crosbyton, Texas;
daughter, Betty Louise Togersen of Phoeniz, Ariz.; daughter-in-law,
Noreen Phelps, of Cedar Rapids; 15 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren;
sister, Mrs. Opal Lau, of Colesburg, Iowa; stepchildren, David
Stoltenberg and his wife, Cherylene, of Mason City; Julie Garber
and her husband, Dennis, of Mason City; and Randy Stoltenberg

Carmella was born Dec. 29, 1919, at Stacyville, the daughter
of Nicholas and Mary (Pint) Adams.
She attended Stacyville Schools and graduated from Visitation
High School.
Carmella married Ben Indra on Nov. 28, 1940, at Stacyville.
They made their home in Osage.
Carmella was a charter member of Our Lady of Good Counsel Study
Club. She was also a member of Shakespearean Club, The Alpha
Writers, The Mitchell County Historical Society, American Legion
Auxillary, V.F.W. Auxillary and served as Sacred Heart Church
Historian.
Carmella served on church boards including the Education Board,
Sacred Heart Advisory Board and the Liturgy Committee.
She was an officer in the Sacred Heart Guild and sang in the
choir and belonged to ACCW.
She held a lifetime membership as a Girl Scout Leader.
Carmella was a recipient of the Marian Award as an outstanding
Catholic Scout leader.
Survivors include one daughter, Mary Campbell and her husband,
Robert, of Severna Park, Md.; three sons, Nicholas Indra and
his wife, Pam, of Honolulu, Hawaii, Lawrence Indra and his wife,
Jeanette, of Winona, Minn., and Peter Indra and his wife, Margie,
of Mason City; 10 grandchildren; and one brother, William Adams
of Stacyville.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ben, in 1989;
one grandson, Chad Indra; and one brother, Keith Adams.

Richard Leo Logan, 55, of 304 Hampton Street, Rudd, died Sunday
(July 28, 1996) at his home.

David Beckman officiating. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery,
Rockwell.
Visitation will begin at 4 p.m. today at the Hogan-Bremer Colonial
Chapel, 126 Third St. N.E., Mason City, with a 7 p.m. scriptural
prayer service.
Richard L. Logan was born June 4, 1941, at Rockwell, son of
Walter R. and Valeria (Scholl) Logan.
He married Jeanette M. Davis on Sept. 7, 1963, in Mason City.
Richard grew up in Rockwell and graduated from Sacred Heart
high School in 1959.
He attended Mason City Junior College and graduated in 1964
from Loras College in Dubuque. Shortly after this, he became
a Certified Public Accountant.
He worked for 17 years as vice-president of finance for Northwestern
States Portland Cement Company. In 1989, he started Richard L.
Logan Tax and Accounting.
Throughout the years, Richard and his family lived in the Mason
City and Nora Springs area. He enjoyed participating and watching
sports.
Richard was past president of the Newman Booster Club and a
past president of Central Catholic Elementary School Board.
He also was a past board member of Junior Achievement, Public
Health Nurses and the NIAD Community Credit Union.
He was a volunteer for Nora Springs Little League Baseball and
a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants
and the Iowa Society of Certified Public Accountants. He was
a member and lector of St. Joseph Catholic Church.
Survivors include his mother, Valeria Logan, of Rockwell; five
children, Richard W. Logan of Clear Lake, Robert L. Logan of
Guthrie Center, Brian P. Logan of Mason City, Catherine M. Logan
of Rock Falls and Cynthia M. Logan, Nora Springs; and their mother,
Jeanette M. Logan, of Mason City; two brothers, Thomas Logan
of Marietta, Ga., and Larry Logan of Rockwell; three sisters,
Mary Geasland, of Iowa City, Ann Opitz, of Eden Paririe, Minn.,
and Bernadette Grant, of Rockwell; five grandchildren, Brock
and Taylor Logan, of Mason City; Emily and Luke Logan, of Clear
Lake; and Gage Williams, of Rock Falls; and many aunts, uncles,
nieces, nephews, and cousins and special friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Walter, in 1984; one
grandson, Hunter Logan, in 1995; and his grandparents.

Funeral Chapel, 160 E. Fourth St., Garner, with Masonic services
at 7 p.m.
Charles Daniel House, the son of Howard Daniel and Grace Blossom
(Smith) House, was born Aug. 30, 1931, at Hopkinton.
After graduating from Hopkinton High School in 1948, he worked
for the Department of Public Safety.
From 1952-54 he served his country in the United States Army,
being stationed in Germany.
After the service, he again worked for the Department of Public
Safety.
On June 14, 1959, he married Maurene Carrie Beyer at the United
Methodist Church, Epworth.
They lived in Farley for two years and then moved to Garner.
In 1961, he began working for the Iowa Department of Transportation,
retiring in 1992.
He enjoyed family, friends and woodworking.
He was a member of the United Methodist Church, the United Methodist
Men's Club, the Garner American Legion and the Masonic Lodge
in Farley.
He is survived by his wife, Maurene House of Garner; two children,
Carrie Omans and her husband, Jeff, of Garner, and Dean House
and his wife, Ruth, of Boone; four grandchildren, Josh Omans,
Megan Omans, Ian House and Jesse House; and a sister, Betty LeClere
of Farley.
He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Laura House,
in December of 1960; his parents; and a brother, Alvin House.

The Rev. Alois B. May, 75, of 1423 Kimball Ave., died Thursday
(Aug. 1, 1996) at the Covenant Medical Center of a heart attack.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Sacred Heart
Catholic Church, Waterloo, under the auspices of St. Edward Catholic
Church, with burial Tuesday at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Meyer,
with full military rites conducted by the American Legion Post
#0569 of Stacyville.
Friends may call from 1:30 to 8:30 p.m. Sunday at the Sacred
Heart Catholic Church, Waterloo, where there will be a 4 p.m.
rosary service by the Knights of Columbus, and a 7 p.m. vigil
service.
Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral service on South St., is in
charge of arrangements.
There will be further visitation from 5 to 9 p.m. Monday at
the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Meyer, with an 8 p.m. vigil
service.
There will be further visitation on Tuesday morning prior to
services at 11 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
Alois May was born Feb. 13, 1921, at Meyer, the son of John
P. and Margaret Hackenmiller May.
He graduated from Visitation High School in Stacyville, and
received his B.A. degree from Loras College.
He attended two years at St. Mary's Seminary, Baltimore; and
two years at St. Bernard Seminary, St. Bernard, Ala. He was ordained
to the priesthood on May 29, 1954, at Chapel of Christ the King,
Dubuque.
The Rev. May was a temporary associate pastor at Immaculate
Conception Parish, Cedar Rapids, for one year in 1954. He then
served as associate pastor at St. Mary's, Marshalltown, from
1954 to 1960; Holy Family Church, Mason City, from 1960 to 1962;
Basilica of St. Francis-Xavier, Dyersville, from 1968 to 1977;
and St. Patrick's, Dubuque, from 1977 to 1983. He had a pastoral
assignment in Mississippi from 1962 to 1968.
The Rev. May has served as associate pastor at St. Edward Catholic
Church in Waterloo since 1983.
He also served four years of active duty in the United States
Navy as a pharmacist mate during World War II, and was an organist
at the Naval Air Station, Jacksonville, Fla.
He is survived by four brothers, William of Rochester, Minn.,
Earnest and Joseph, both of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Albert
of Stacyville; and a sister, Julia Koenigs of Adams, Minn.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Raymond and Roman.
Memorials may be given in his name to St. Edward Catholic Church,
Waterloo, or Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Meyer.

Barbara Justine Kerby Finnegan
ESCONDIDO, Calif.
Barbara Justine Kerby Finnegan, 74, died Thursday (July 25,
1996), at her son's home in Escondido, Calif. Mrs. Finnegan died
from Lung Cancer.
Born Nov. 17, 1921, in Hartford, Kan., she attended the University
of Missouri. For 10 years, Mrs. Finnegan and her husband owned
and operated Finnegan Thrifty Print in Mason City, Iowa.
Prior to that, she was a free-lance technical writer for the
Business and Airline Schooling Industries.
She and her husband moved to Sun City after retiring from publication
work in 1986.
She recently moved to Escondido, Calif., to be with her son
and daughter-in-law.
Mrs. Finnegan worked as a volunteer at Menifee Valley Medical
Center and was first vice president of the hospital's auxiliary.
She was a computer enthusiast and worked on several projects
for the hospital. She was also editor of the monthly calendar,
newsletter and the quarterly Auxiliary Network News. Earlier
this year, the hospital auxiliary awarded Mrs. Finnegan the first
ever Silver Circle Award.
As a publication expert, Mrs. Finnegan wrote and edited newsletters
and press releases for various organizations, as well as being
an active member of the Golden Valley Writers Club.
She was also an avid bridge player, and played duplicate or
party bridge several times a week.
She is survived by her son, Steven Finnegan of Escondido; brother,
Bill Kerby of Wichita, Kan.; sister, Francis Felder of Shawnee
Mission, Kan.; grandchildren, Ron and Richard Rosson; and great-
grandchildren, Kyrie, Gage and Keegan Rosson.
Mrs. Finnegan also had an especially close relationship with
her daughter-in-law, Patricia Finnegan.
Mrs. Finnegan was preceded in death by her husband, Louis, and
son, Michael.
Services were held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, July 30, at Patio Homes
Recreation Hall in Sun City. Burial will be in Elmwood-St. Joseph
Cemetery in Mason City, Iowa, between her late husband and son.

(August 3, 1996)at Good Shepherd Nursing Home.

Margaret was born April 30, 1908 in Benton County Iowa the daughter
of Robert and Mattie (Nicewander) McIlhatton. Margaret moved
to this area at the age of 12 and attended schools in Mason City.
She married Cleo Bartusek in 1928. Her second husband, Melvin
O. Slattum, she married in 1948. Margaret was a member of Trinity
Lutheran Church, Lydia Circle, enjoyed quilting, embroidering,
sewing and knitting for her family.
Survivors include one son, Robert G. Bartusek and wife Marlys
of Nora Springs; one daughter, Shirley M. Suby and husband Leon
of Mason City; five grandchildren, Crystal Wass, Denise Rottinghaus,
Scott Suby, Dennis and David Bartusek; nine great grandchildren;
one step-daughter, Lorene Gokey and husband Vernon of Milwaukee,
Wisc.; one step-son, Larry Slattum and wife Sandy of Preston,
Minn.; six step-grandchildren; five step-great grandchildren,
two step-great great grandchildren; two sisters, Ruby Smith and
husband Elton of Mesa, Ariz. and Mattie Newbrough of Mexico,
Mo.; and one brother, Loren McIlhatton and wife Shirley of Mason
City.
She was preceded in death by her parents; first and second husbands;
two brothers, Wilbur and Burton; and one sister, Myrtle Cook.

The Rev. James J. Byrne, 88, a retired Archbishop of Dubuque,
died Friday (August 2, 1996) at Stonehill Care Center.
A wake service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday. Funeral services
will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Raphael Cathedral,
Dubuque. Burial will be in St. Raphael Cathedral Crypt. A Memorial
Mass will be celebrated in St. Paul, his home diocese at a later
date.
Visitation will be held from 3 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and after 9
a.m. Wednesday at St. Raphael Cathedral.
James J. Byrne was born July 28, 1908 in St. Paul, Minn., the
son of Philip J. Byrne and Mary Agnes McMonigal. He graduated
from St. Luke's Grade School, Cretin High School, and St. Thomas
College in St. Paul.
Memorials may be given to Stonehill Care Center of Villa Raphael,
both in Dubuque.
He attended St. Paul Seminary and was ordained to the priesthood
at St. Paul's Cathedral June 3, 1933. He continued his studies
at the University of Minnesota and received a doctorate in theology
in 1937 from Louvain University in Belgium.
His first assignment was to be associate pastor of St. Peter's
Parish, Mendota, Minn. Also in 1937 he became a professor of
philosophy and theology at St. Thomas College, in St. Paul and
served as Dean from 1941-1945. He also taught part time at St.
Catherine's College, St. Paul and was on the faculty of St. Paul
Seminary from 1945 to 1947. During these years he served as
chaplain at area religious institutions.
He was ordained Titular Bishop of Etenna and Auxiliary Bishop
of St. Paul on July 2, 1947 by Archbishop Amleto Cicognani, then
Apostolic Delegate to the United States. He was the first native
Minnesotan elevated to the hierarchy for service in his home
diocese, and the first native Minnesotan to later become an Archbishop.
As Auxiliary, he also served as pastor of Nativity Parish, St.
Paul until he became Bishop of the Diocese of Doise, Idaho on
June 16, 1956.
Archbishop Byrne was appointed to the Archdiocese of Dubuque
March 19, 1962. On May 8, he was installed as ninth bishop and
seventh Archbishop of Dubuque by the Apostolic Delegate, Archbishop
Egidio Vagnozzi at St. Raphael Cathedral. The liturgy was filmed
in black and white by WMT-TV Cedar Rapids and broadcast that
evening.
He attended all of the four sessions of the Second Vatican Council
in Rome from 1962-1965 and implemented the reforms initiated
by the Council during his leadership in the 30 county Archdiocese
of Dubuque.
He retired as Archbishop of Dubuque on Aug. 23, 1983 and was
named Apostolic Administrator until the appointment of Archbishop
Daniel Kucera on Dec. 20, 1983.
He retired to Villa Raphael in Dubuque and in his retirement
was Director of the Propagation of the Faith, Director of the
Holy Childhood Pontifical Association and spiritual adviser to
the Legion of Mary and the Theresians. He moved to Stonehill
Care Center in the summer of 1993 and resided there until the
time of his death.
He is survived by a brother, Tom Byrne and his wife Theresa,
of St. Paul Minn., a sister Peggy Allen and her husband Eamon,
of Delano, Minn., a sister-in-law Bernice and a brother-in-law
Tom Kelly Sr., of St. Paul, Minn.
He was preceded in death by his parents Philip J. and Mary Agnes
Byrne, four brothers, Philip, Eugene and his wife Marge, Donald
and his wife Edna, Robert and his wife Donna; two sisters, Mary
(Mrs. Tom Kelly) and Winifred Fuller and her husband Robert.

Mrs. Nancy Jean Nieman, 63, of 208 Thirteenth Street N., died
Saturday (August 3, 1996) at Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit,

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at First
Lutheran Church with the Rev. Mark Bents and the Rev. David Wall
officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Rest Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Conner Colonial
Chapel and from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home
and one hour prior to services at the church.

Nancy was born in Elkhorn, Wisc. on Jan. 17, 1933 the daughter
of Robert and Eleanor (Recknagle) Sommer. She graduated from
Elkhorn High School in 1951. She married Norance (Rocky) Reyerson
on Nov. 5, 1955 in Woodstock, Ill. They moved to Northwood in
1967. He preceded her in death in 1974. She married Velmer
Nieman Sept. 12, 1981 and he preceded her in death Sept. 13,
1981.
Nancy loved her gardening, raising flowers taking them to exhibits
at the fair and sharing her lilies with others. She also enjoyed
antiquing. Nancy was one of the organizer that started the red
geraniums downtown Northwood.
She was a member of First Lutheran Church, Northwood Garden
Club, Northwood VFW Auxiliary and American Legion Auxiliary.
Nancy is survived by her father, Robert Sommer of Lake Geneva,
Wisc.; three daughters, Patti Trenhaile and her husband Eric
of Northwood, Mary Julson and her husband Mark of Northwood and
Vicki Bergdale of Boulder City, Nev.; one son, Norance Reyerson
of Northwood; two step sons, Vince Nieman of Northwood and Charles
Nieman of Minn.; eight grandchildren, Megan and Matthew Julson
of Northwood, Colby, Joshua, Abby and Tyler Trenhaile of Northwood,
Jeremiah and Sommer Bergdale of Boulder City, Nev.; one great
grandson Ashton Trenhaile; one sister, Linda McDonough and her
husband Tom of Lake Geneva Wisc.; one brother, Terry Sommer and
his wife Pam of Kenosha, Wisc.; friend Glen Curtis of Northwood
and his family Hope Enerson of Chanhassen, Minn. and Laurie Thomas
of Forest City; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her mother; two husbands; one sister,
Patsy Sommer; one brother, Paul Sommer; and one granddaughter.

Myrtle Christiansen
NORA SPRINGS
Myrtle Christiansen, 87, rural Nora Springs, died Sunday (August
4, 1996) at Mitchell County Regional Health Center, Osage.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Rock Creek
Lutheran Church with the Rev. Roger Hoppenworth officiating.
Burial will be in Rock Creek Cemetery.
Visitation at Champion Funeral Home in Osage will begin at 5:30
p.m. Tuesday with the family receiving friends from 5:30 until
7:30 p.m. and will continue one hour prior to services at the
church on Wednesday.
Myrtle was born June 14, 1909 in rural Nora Springs, the daughter
of Andrew and Kristina (Franstad) Hanson. She attended rural
schools in Mitchell County and Osage High School. She was confirmed
May 13, 1923 by the Rev. O.C. Myhre. Myrtle was united in marriage
to Carl Christiansen on June 25, 1931 at Rock Creek Lutheran
Church. They farmed in Mitchell County.
She was a lifelong member of Rock Creek Lutheran Church where
she served in leadership positions in RCCW, Rebekah Circle and
Lydia Mission Circle. She enjoyed sewing, gardening and knitting.
Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were blessed with
many of her sweaters. She donated many of her hand-knit items
to the Rock Creek bazaars. Sports were an important part of
her life. She was a Twins fan, followed Carl's horseshoe pitching
tournaments and bowled in the Happy Mixers and the Grandpa and
Grandma League through this last season. Her birthday was Flag
Day and she loved our flag and country.
Survivors include her husband of 65 years, Carl Christiansen
of Nora Springs; three daughters, Nancy Folkert and her husband
Dale of Rudd, Dorothy Schmidt and her husband Francis of Nora
Springs, and Helen Randolph and her husband Randy of Dallas,
Texas; two sons, Dr. Paul Christiansen and his wife Barbara of
Mount Vernon, and George Christiansen of Nora Springs; 13 grandchildren;
28 great grandchildren; three brothers, Glen Hanson and his wife
Alvera of Nora Springs, Arnold Hanson and his wife Betty of Nora
Springs, and Olaf Hanson and his wife Dorothy of San Jose, Calif.
She was preceded in death by her parents.

MASON CITY
Gary Lee Rockwell, Jr., 38, of 5 North Federal, died Saturday
(August 3, 1996) at his home after a lengthy illness.
His body was donated to the University of Osteopathic Medicine
and Health Sciences, Des Moines, to honor his wishes.
A memorial Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Holy Family
Catholic Church, 714 N. Adams, with the Rev. John R. Kremer officiating.
Hogan-Bremer Colonial Chapel, 126 Third Street N.E., is serving
the family.
Gary Lee Rockwell, Jr. was born Feb. 21, 1958 at Williams Air
Force Base, Chandler, Ariz., son of Gary Rockwell and Evelyn
(Frank) Rockwell Platt.
He enjoyed playing the french horn in grade school and shared
his dad's hunting and fishing abilities. He always loved to
be outdoors hunting and fishing. He enjoyed playing darts and
participating in many tournaments, where he earned the nickname
``Animal.'' He was a lifelong member of Holy Family Catholic
Church.
Gary enjoyed watching his sons, Shawn and Jason, play little
league baseball. His two sons and his granddaughter, Jessica,
were his pride and joy.
He will be sadly missed by all.
Survivors include two sons, Shawn Rockwell and Jason Rockwell,
both of Mason City; one granddaughter, Jessica Rockwell of Mason
City; his mother, Evelyn Platt of Mason City; his father, Gary
Rockwell, Sr. and his wife Mary of Mason City; twelve siblings,
Eva Bell of Corpus Christi, Texas, Stephen Rockwell of Colo.,
Allan Rockwell of Ames, Brian Rockwell of La., Michael Rockwell
of Mason City, Thomas Rockwell of Pilot Mound, Nathan Rockwell,
Debbie Patrick, Michael Reindl, Kathy Reindl, and Susan Stearns
all of Mason City, and Steve Reindl of Manly; numerous aunts,
uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins; a special friend, Laura
Malek and her daughter Crystal; and also many, many friends.
Gary was preceded in death by one sister, Konnie Marie Rockwell;
one cousin, LeRoy Newby; one niece, Caitlyn Patrick; and all
his grandparents and great grandparents.

Theodore F. ``Buck'' Radio was born Feb. 17, 1921 at Mason City,
son of Gus and Pauline (Radio) Radio.
He graduated from Mason City High School in 1940. He was a
member of Holy Family Catholic Church.
Survivors include two sisters, Mary Eliasen of Clear Lake, and
Ann Netzel of Mason City; and several nieces and nephews.
