Dagmar Jass, 82, formerly of 625 14th Ave. North, died Thursday
(April 18, 1996) at Oakwood Care Center.
There will be no visitation. Graveside services will be held
at 2 p.m. Monday at Alden Cemetery, with the Rev. Blair A'Hearn
of Bethany Lutheran Church, Iowa Falls, officiating.
Dagmar was born March 2, 1914, in Clear Lake, daughter of Sam
and Elizabeth (Jasperson) Sorensen. She married Eugene Jass
on Feb. 21, 1935 at St. John Lutheran Church, rural Garner.
He preceded her in death in 1976.
Dagmar lived most of her life around Clear Lake and attended
country schools near Clear Lake.
She is survived by three sisters-in-law, Martha Jass of Ventura,
Hattie Baumgarten of Mesa, Ariz. and Helen Sorensen of Alden;
and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death be her parents, her husband, and three
brothers.
Ward Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 North Fourth Street in charge
of arrangements.

James M. Martin, 73, died Saturday (April 20, 1996) at the Rockwell
Care Center.

MASON CITY
Allene M. Estep, 66, died Wednesday (April 17, 1996) at Muse
Norris Hospice Impatient Unit.
After a family viewing, her body was cremated. There will be
no visitation. Memorial services will be held at a later date
at Memorial Park Cemetery.
Hogan Bremer Colonial Chapel, 126 Third Street N.E., is in charge
of arrangements.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of North Iowa in memory of
Allene M. Estep.
Allene was born Nov. 16, 1929, in Rosati, Mo., daughter of Rolland
L. and Pauline (Peterson) Nutting. She was married to Donald
R. Estep in 1951 at Trinity Lutheran Church. Allene lived most
of her life in Mason City and graduated from Mason City High
School in 1947.
She loved spending time with her family and enjoyed gardening
and flowers. She also enjoyed playing the piano and crocheting.
She is survived by two daughters, Renee Buch and her husband,
Tom of Littleton, Colo., and Sandra Zagar and her husband, Rudy
of Perry; five sons, Mark Estep and his wife, Sue of Enid, Okla.,
Craig Estep and his wife, Karen of Parkersburg, Michael Estep
and his wife, Chris of George; Lance Estep of Cincinnati, Ohio;
and Darin Estep of Colorado Springs, Colo.; twenty-two grandchildren;
one brother, Robert L. Nutting and his wife, Norma of Clear Lake;
and one aunt, Martha ``Sis'' Nutting of Mason City.
Allene was preceded in death by her parents; one grandson, Joshua
Estep; and one granddaughter, Hallie Zagar.

Ann Marie Okerstrom, 57, died Friday (April 19, 1996) at University
of Iowa Hospitals, Iowa City.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. at First
Baptist Church, 125 East State St. with the Rev. Ronald Stein
officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood St. Joseph Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Hogan-Bremer Colonial
Chapel, 126 Third Street N.E., and one hour prior to the services
at the Church on Tuesday.

Fred M. Eggena, 58, of 2116 S. Grover Ave., died Saturday (April
20, 1996) peacefully at his home.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St.
James Lutheran Church, 1148 Fourth St. S.E., with the Rev. David
Anderson officiating. Following services, the body will be cremated.
Inurnment will take place at a later date at Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Hogan-Bremer
Colonial Chapel, 126 Third St. N.E., and one hour prior to the
service at the church.
Fred M. Eggena was born Aug. 17, 1937 in Rockford. He spent
his youth farming and later made a career as a truck driver,
working for Piper's Truck and Trailer Services, Zanios Foods,
and Clear Lake Bakery. He married Donna Fay Piper on July 15,
1966 at Sioux Falls, S.D.
Fred enjoyed racing, camping, traveling, and was an avid motorcyclist.
He loved baseball.
Survivors include his wife, Donna Fay Eggena, of Mason City;
his mother, Irene Eggena, of Mason City; two daughters, Barb
Peters and her husband, Lenny, of Goodell, and Penny Jindra and
her husband, Rick, of Mason City; three sons, Duane Craig and
his wife, Sheila, of Nora Springs, Randy Craig and his wife,
Rhonda, of Manly, and Mike Craig and his wife, Leanne, of Mason
City; two sisters, Judy Morphew and her husband, Keith, of Mason
City, and Pat Ferleman, of Mason City; one brother, Alvin Eggena,
and his friend, Becky Johnson; his mother-in-law, Vivian Piper,
of Mason City; 16 grandchildren, Carol Ann, Brandon, Travis,
Damon, Derek, Dustin, Devin, Ashley, Carrie, James, Jessica,
Lisa, Brandon, Logan, Jeffrey, and Jonathan; several sisters-in-law;
brothers-in-law; aunts; uncles; nieces; nephews; and many close
friends.
He was preceded in death by his natural parents, Martha and
Albert Eggena; his maternal and paternal grandparents; and one
grandson, Brian Michael Craig.

James M. Martin, 73, of Rockwell, died Saturday (April 20,
1996) at Rockwell Care Center.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, at St.
Peter Lutheran Church, Rockwell, with the Rev. Joseph A. Miller
officiating. Interment will be in Rockwell Cemetery with a flag
folding ceremony by the Gallagher Post of the American Legion.
Visitation will be at 3 p.m. Monday at Fullerton Patterson-James
Funeral Home, Rockwell, and one hour prior to services at the
church.
Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider
memorials to the James Murphy Memorial Fund.
Jim was born on March 11, 1923, in Rockford, the son of John
and Carrie (Jones) Martin. He graduated from the Rockford High
School in 1941 and then served his country in the Army as a Tec-Sergeant.
He received two bronze stars while serving in the Pacific Theatre,
one for being torpedoed in his landing craft.
When he returned to the Rockwell area he farmed with his family
and then worked for the Rockwell Elevator, later moving to the
Burchinal Elevator. Following his retirement from the elevator
he worked for D&D Sales in Sheffield.
Jim was married to Renee Floy on Dec. 15, 1957, in Ventura.
She preceded him in death in May of 1979. Jim was united in
marriage to LaVonne Hoffman at St. Peter Lutheran Church on Aug.
1, 1981.
James was known to either be in his shop working on many and
various wood working projects, out playing with his dog, fiddling
with his flowers or being with his family. There was no order
to his preference as he enjoyed them all. Jim was known for
making clocks for his grandchildren, cupboards for the house,
or quilt racks. He even made his son a race car bed when he
was 7.
Jim is a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church, and the Gallagher
Post of the American Legion.
Jim is survived by his wife, LaVonne; one daughter, Mrs. Mike
(Linda) Ruffridge, of Kenai, Alaska; two sons, Bill and his wife,
Denise Martin, of Rockwell, and Brian and his wife, Charolette
Martin, of Anchorage, Alaska; one stepdaughter, Mrs. Keith (Judy)
Dhondt, of Rockwell; two stepsons, Larry and his wife, Lorraine
Hoffman, of Clear Lake, and Art and his wife, Janette Hoffman,
of Owatonna, Minn.; 17 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren;
his sister, Mrs. Alfred (Ruth) Nagel, of Rockwell; and his brother,
Harold (Gloria) Martin, of Rockford.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife.

Robert A. French, 48, of 1644 N. Carolina Pl., died Friday
(April 19, 1996) at his home.
Private family graveside services will be held at a later date

Memorials may be made to the Robert A. French Memorial Fund.
Robert A. French was born Jan. 25, 1948, in Mason City, the
son of John and Dorothy (Raymond) French. He graduated from
Mason City High School in 1967 and NIACC in 1969. Robert married
Vicki Anderberg Aug. 31, 1968 in Mason City. He was owner-operator
of Diamond Dave's Taco Company in Southbridge Mall.
Survivors include his wife, Vicki, of Mason City; two daughters,
Robee French of Nora Springs, and Elizabeth French of Mason City;
a grandson, Nicholas O'Dell, of Mason City; mother-in-law, Ardella
Anderberg, of Mason City; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Raymond
and Richard.

Carl Rausch Jr.
MASON CITY
Carl Rausch Jr., 88, of 1028 N. Georgia Ave., died Sunday (April
21, 1996) at the Good Shepherd Nursing Home.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Wesley
United Methodist Church, 1405 S. Pennsylvania
Ave., with the Rev. David R. Shogren officiating. Interment will
be at Memorial Park Cemetery, with a flag folding ceremony by
the Mason City Memorial Association.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Major Erickson
Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave., and one hour prior to
services at the church on Friday.
Memorials may be given to the Wesley United Methodist Church
in memory of Carl Rausch or Hospice of North Iowa.
Carl Rausch Jr. was born Sept. 15, 1907, the son of Karl and
Marie (Schmidt) Rausch in Neulussheim, Germany, State of Baden.
Carl came with his parents and sister Elizabeth to America and
Mason City in 1910. They were sponsored by his uncle and aunt,
Mr. and Mrs. Conrad Buehler.
Carl grew up in Mason City and attended Mason City schools.
He worked for Jacob E. Decker and Sons from 1924 to May of 1942,
when he was inducted into the United States Army to serve in
World War II. He served in the Quarter Master in North Africa
and Italy until he was discharged at Jefferson Barricks, Mo.,
on Nov. 22, 1945.
After the war, he was a carpenter and later worked for Ralph
Cox's Schwinn Bicycle Shop in Mason City for many years.
He was a charter member of the Zion Mt. Olivet German Methodist
Church which is now Wesley United Methodist Church, where Carl
taught Sunday school.
Carl was also active in the North Iowa Writers Club. He served
as the Assistant Boy Scout Master of Boy Scout Troop #12.
Carl loved nature, the outdoors and going for walks. He also
liked to fish, raise flowers, play golf, write poetry, and travel
and most of all, he enjoyed his extended family.
Survivors include two sisters, Elizabeth Rausch of Mason City,
and Helen Thornblade and husband, Marlin, of Manly; two nieces,
Carolyn Keeney and husband, Don, of Bettendorf, and Marilyn Miller
and husband, John, of Cedar Falls; three great-nephews, Brad
and Kreg Miller, and David Keeney and his wife, Angela; two great-
nieces, Barbara and Ann Keeney; and several cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents.

Kenneth G. Horn, 78, of 705 Sixth Ave., died Monday (April
22, 1996) at a hospital in Rochester, Minn.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. today at the First
Baptist Church, Charles City, with the Rev. Robin Stoops officiating.
Burial will be in the Riverside Cemetery, with graveside military
honors by the Charles City Ceremonial Unit.
Visitation will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. at Hauser Funeral
Home, 1205 S. Main St., and after noon at the church.
Kenneth George Horn was born May 11, 1917, at Charles City.
Survivors include his wife, Eliza, of Charles City; one daughter,
Toni Ann Ammerman of Seminole, Fla.; a son, Terrence Van Deest
of Chicago; two brothers, Joseph of Clarion, and Melvin of Apache
Junction, Ariz.; three grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren;
and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one
sister.

Glen H. Gilbertson
MASON CITY
Glen H. Gilbertson, 93, formerly of 106 Country Circle, died
Tuesday (April 23, 1996) at the Good Shepherd Nursing Home.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Fullerton
Patterson James Funeral Chapel, 123 Second St. S.E., with the
Rev. Sharon Betsworth of the First United Methodist Church officiating.
Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral
chapel.
Glen was born on April 16, 1903, in Badger, Minn., the son of
Peder Gilbertson and Carolina (Gulbranson) Gilbertson.
His mother died at his birth and he was placed in the Wild
Rice Children's Home in Twin Valley, Minn., where he attended
school.
He spent three and one-half years at the Gilette Hospital in
St. Paul to correct a back ailment.
After leaving the children's home, he worked for several area
farmers in that area.
He moved to Mason City in 1922 and attended Hamilton Business
College from 1927-28.
He was united in marriage to Florence Nelson on June 6, 1931,
at the C.E. Gilman residence in Mason City where he lived previously.
Glen was a general clerk for the Northwestern Railroad for over
40 years, retiring in 1968.
Glen was an accomplished gardener raising both vegetables and
lots of flowers. He had a special attachment to dogs.
Glen was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Brotherhood
of Railroad Clerks, Chicago and Northwestern Veteran's Club,
Senior Men's Chamber of Commerce and the Ostomy Association.
Glen was preceded in death by his wife in March of 1983; his
parents; two sisters; one brother; and a niece, Florence Nelson
of Rockford, Ill.
