Gertrude F. Meyer, 77, of Bristow, died Sunday (Dec. 3, 1995)
at the Allison Health Care Center.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the
Bethel Reformed Church, rural Aplington.  Burial will be in the
Bethel Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 2 to 8 p.m. today at the Schwartz
Funeral Home, Aplington.

Gertrude Freida (Harken) Meyer was born Nov. 16, 1918, in Austinville.

Survivors include her husband, Jack; one son, Dennis Meyer of
Bristow; two daughters, Sheryl Miller of Ames and Wanda Benning
of Waverly; 10 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; three
sisters, Lena Steege of LaPorte City, Bernice Freeseman of Aplington
and Martha Pruisner of Parkersburg.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters and three
brothers.

Emma F. Hanson
MASON CITY  

Emma F. Hanson, 87, of Route 4, died Sunday (Dec. 3, 1995) at
the Lutheran Retirement Home, Northwood.

A funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Holy
Family Catholic Church, Mason City, with the Rev. Raymond A.
Burkle officiating.  Burial will be in the Bohemian Cemetery,
Plymouth.

Visitation will begin after 5 p.m. today at Hogan-Bremer Colonial
Chapel, 126 Third St. N.E., with a Scriptural prayer service
at 7 p.m.

Emma F. Hanson was born Nov. 4, 1908, in Lime Creek Township,
the daughter of Hans and Barbara C. (Fitzel) Hanson.  She lived
on the family farm all of her life until December 1994, when
she moved to the nursing home.

Emma loved her family and caring for her nieces and nephews.
She enjoyed gardening and crocheting.  She was a member of Holy
Family Catholic Church.

Survivors include her mother, Barbara Hanson of Northwood; one
sister, Ethel Luckason of Northwood; two brothers, Harry Hanson
of Mason City and Raymond Hanson of Northwood.

She was preceded in death by her father, two brothers and one
sister.

Robert `Milt' Thomson
CHARLES CITY  

Robert ``Milt'' Thomson, 92, of Charles City, died Sunday (Dec.
3, 1995) at Floyd County Memorial Hospital.

There will be a prayer service in memory of ``Milt'' Thomson
at 7 tonight at the Hauser Funeral Home, Charles City, with the
Rev. Kathryn Campbell of Grace Episcopal Church officiating.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at St. Paul's
Episcopal Church, Winona, Minn., with the Rev. Thomas Winkler
officiating.  Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Winona, Minn.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 8:30 p.m. today at the funeral
home.

For those wanting to make a memorial expression, the family
suggests the YMCA or the Salsbury Baptist Home of Charles City,
or St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Winona, Minn.

Robert Milton Thomson was born Nov. 25, 1903, in Oshkosh, Wis.

Survivors include two sons, Robert Lee of Charles City, and
John of Bloomington, Minn., and Rio Verde, Ariz.; one daughter,
Marian Thomson of Cedar Rapids; six grandchildren; and two
great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and five brothers.

Levant R. `Bud' Moore
TITONKA 

Levant R. ``Bud'' Moore, 75, of Titonka, died Sunday (Dec.
3, 1995) at the Kossuth Regional Health Center, Algona.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the
United Methodist Church, Titonka, with the Rev. Karl Schiltz
officiating.  Burial will be in Buffalo Township Cemetery.

Visitation will be held at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Garry-Roberts
-Murphy-Schaaf Funeral Home.  A prayer service will be held at 8 p.m.
at the funeral home.

Levant R. ``Bud'' Moore was born Oct. 18, 1920, in Harrisburg,
S.D.

Survivors include five daughters, Diane Best of Abilene, Texas;
Anita Johnston of Cedar Rapids; Patricia Stoa of Palatine, Ill.;
Virginia Ferguson and Evelyn Kerns, both of Rolfe; four brothers,
George Moore of Maquoketa; Clair Moore of Dolliver; Roger Moore
of Lake Charles, La., and Rollo Moore of Titonka; one sister,
Anna Mae Bristow of Livermore; and 13 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, two brothers,
one sister and one granddaughter.

Charles `Tommy' M. Thompson
MASON CITY 

Charles ``Tommy'' M. Thompson, 66, of 152 Eighth St. S.W.,
died Saturday (Dec. 2, 1995) at his home.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Fullerton
Patterson James Funeral Home, 123 Second St. S.E., with the Rev.
Walter Jones of St. John's Baptist Church officiating.  Following
cremation, graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday
at Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from noon until service time Wednesday
at the funeral home.

Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider
memorials to the Charles Thompson Memorial Fund.

Tommy was born on Sept. 19, 1929, in Mason City, the son of
Monroe and Willie B. (Houston) Thompson.  He attended school
at Roosevelt Junior High.  He lived in Mason City for most of
his life, but spent several years in Los Angeles working as a
barber and cosmetologist at Universal Studios.  Tommy was a Golden
Gloves champion in 1947 in the feather weight class, which was
a culmination of his career that he started in junior high school.
He was a semi-pro football player for Kansas City and crossed
over to semi-pro baseball.  On the gentler side he enjoyed painting,
drawing, sculpting and wood carving.  He also wrote and enjoyed
poetry.  Many of his most pleasant hours were spent in the outdoors
and fishing.  He was married to Veda Kipper, and later to Shirley
Crawley, and has spent the last eight years of his life with
Dawn Olinger and her daughter, Dena.

Charles is survived by his daughter, Mrs. Anthony ``Athena''
Walton of Des Moines; four sons, Stanley of Mason City; Steven
and his wife, L. Thompson, Mason City; Marquise of Los Angeles,
Calif., and Charles of Des Moines; two stepdaughters, Denise
Wesley and Dion Wesley, both of Des Moines; and his brothers
and sisters, McDale ``Buddy'' Thompson of Mason City, Willie
Faye Thompson of Arizona, James Earl Thompson of Los Angeles,
Calif., and Florine Jefferson of Tacoma, Wash.; seven grandchildren;
three great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Katherine
Harper.

Alice S. Severson, 89, of Britt, died Sunday (Dec. 3, 1995)
at the Hancock County Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the
Kanawha Lutheran Church with the Rev. David A. Lee officiating.
Burial will be in the Amsterdam Cemetery, Kanawha.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the Ewing
Funeral Home, Kanawha, and will continue one hour prior to services
at the church on Wednesday.

Alice S. Severson was born Oct. 17, 1906, in Goodell.

Survivors include one daughter, Marlene Smith of Britt; five
sons, Gordon Severson of Luther; Eugene Severson of Belle Plaine;
Milton Severson of Story City; Richard Severson of Sarasota,
Fla., and Roger Severson of Hubbard; 22 grandchildren; and 35
great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one brother
and one grandson.

Harrison `Harry' Hedgecock
MASON CITY  

Harrison ``Harry'' Hedgecock, 71, of 206 26th St. S.W.,  died
Monday (Dec. 4, 1995) at the Heritage Care Center.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Trinity
Lutheran Church with the Rev. Kenneth Hatland officiating.  Burial
will be in Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery with full military rites
conducted by the Mason City Memorial Association.

Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. Wednesday until time
of service at the church.  Major-Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N.
Pennsylvania Ave., is in charge of arrangements.

Harrison `Harry' Hedgecock was born July 31, 1924, in Mason
City, the son of Harrison and Iva (Carman) Hedgecock.  Harrison
attended Mason City Schools.  Harry served in the U.S. Navy during
World War II.  He married Jewellann Craig on April 26, 1958,
in Mason City, and was a self-employed painter for many years.

He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, VFW and the American
Legion.

Survivors include four daughters, Dalana Chesnut and her husband,
Douglas, of Forest City; Julie Tremble and her husband, Ted,
of Clear Lake; Penny Portis and Angel Diaz and her husband, Steve,
all of Mason City; one stepdaughter, Pam Jung; two stepsons,
Dennis Craig and John Craig; 10 grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren;
and four sisters, Ethel Burtis and her husband, Lyle; Irene Olson
and her husband, Earl; Vera Olson and her husband, Palmer, and
Iva Jane Stone and her husband, Dwight, all of Mason City.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Jewellann
in 1991; one sister, Virginia LaPlount; and one brother, Frank
Hedgecock.

Josephine A. O'Connell, 84, of Charles City, died Sunday (Dec.
3, 1995) at the Salsbury Baptist Home, Charles City.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Fullerton
Hage Funeral Home, Charles City, with the Rev. Dennis D. Niezwaag
of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church officiating.  Burial
will be in the Riverside Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from noon to 9 p.m. today at the funeral
home, and will continue from 9 a.m. until service time on Wednesday.

Josephine Ann Gabel O'Connell was born Jan. 30, 1911, in Rockford.

Survivors include one daughter, JoAnn Johnson of Charles City;
two sons, Larry O'Connell of Charles City and Harley O'Connell,
Cedar Falls; and two granddaughters.

Charles C. Caponi
MASON CITY 

Charles C. Caponi, 72, of 121 Seventh St. N.E.,  died Monday
(Nov. 27, 1995) at the Americana Healthcare Center.

Memorial services will be held 7:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 8, 1995,
at the Seventh-day Adventist Church, 815 N. Kentucky Ave., with
Pastor Mark Luckiesh and Charles C. Caponi III officiating.

There is no visitation. The body was cremated.

Memorials may be given to the Charles C. Caponi Memorial Fund.

Charles was born Oct. 13, 1923, in Mason City, son of Charles
C. and Lucille (Law) Caponi.

He attended Mason City Schools and served in the United States
Army during World War II.

After his return from the service, he attended Barber College
in Sioux City. He returned to Mason City and started his career
as a barber.

He was married  to Wanda Jenison on Jan. 22, 1950, in Albert
Lea, Minn.

He continued his career as a barber in Mason City, completing
40 years, which the  last few years before he retired were spent
running the Regal Barber Shop, retiring in 1985 due to failing
eye sight.

He enjoyed hunting and fishing and also collected Civil War
memorabilia.

He was a member of DAV.

Survivors include his wife, Wanda Caponi of Mason City; one
daughter, Stephanie Bohl of Mason City; one son, Charles C. Caponi
and his wife, Kimberly, of Mason City; grandchildren, Jason Despenas
of Mason City and Mollie Bohl of Mason City.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Bernice Marguerite Durner

Bernice Marguerite Durner, 80, of Manly, died Sunday (Dec.
3, 1995) at her home in Manly.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 8, 1995, at Bethel
United Methodist Church in Manly, with the Rev. James Poulsen
of Bethel United Methodist Church and the Rev. James Durner,
son of Bernice Durner, officiating. Burial will be in the Manly
Cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Bride Colonial
Chapel, 110 E. Spring St., and one hour prior to service time
on Friday at the church.

Bernice Marguerite Durner was born on July 23, 1915, in Fort
Dodge,  the daughter of Robert and Gertrude (Plude) Victor.

She attended and received her education in the Catholic School
System in Des Moines, graduating from high school in Des Moines.

She was united in marriage to Harold W. Durner in Omaha, Neb.
He preceded her in death on April 11, 1983.

Bernice was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who loved
spending time with family, friends and children in her neighborhood.

She was very proud that she was one of the residents of Manly.

She also enjoyed baking, cooking and the outdoors.

Left to cherish her memory are two sons, the Rev. James Durner
and his wife, Janice, of Havelock, N.C., and Jerry Durner and
his wife, Mary, of Houston, Texas; three daughters, Diane Judd
and her husband, Jerry, of Kaneohe, Hawaii; Alice Barner and
her husband, Robert, of Mason City, and Judy Thompson  of Minneapolis,
Minn.; 14 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; two great-great-
grandchildren;
as well as other relatives and friends.

Besides her husband, she was also preceded in death by her parents;
one son, Kenneth Carder; one sister; and two brothers.

of Ramsey, Minn.; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren;
and one brother, Ralph Whitten of Urbandale.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.

Agnes B. Thompson, 86, of Kanawha, died Monday (Dec. 4, 1995)
at the Kanawha Community Nursing Home.

Agnes B. Thompson was born May 25, 1909, in Kanawha.

Survivors include one daughter, Dolores Wagner of Corwith; two
sisters, Helga Iverson of Tacoma, Wash., and Alice Hattersley
of Bristol, Ill.; one brother, Milford Benson of Sioux City;
11 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and three
great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one daughter
and six brothers.

Charleen Evelyn Tate
MASON CITY 

Charleen Evelyn Tate, 56, of 321 N. Monroe Ave., died suddenly
Monday (Dec. 4, 1995) at North Iowa Mercy Health Center.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 7, 1995,
at the Fullerton Patterson James Funeral Chapel, 123 Second St.
S.E. Officiating will be Dwight D. Webster, pastor of New Bethel
Baptist Church of Manly. Graveside inurnment services will be
held at Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery.

The family will greet friends prior to the service.

memorials in Charleen's name.

Charleen was born on April 13, 1939, in Mason City, the daughter
of Charles Richard and Evelyn Mae (Sandy) Jackson Sr.

She worked for many years at the Plaza Cafe and the IOOF Home.

Charlene furthered her education by taking computer classes
while she worked for Unisys until its closing in 1989. She felt
that higher education was very important.

Charlene was a former member of  Wesley United Methodist Church
and enjoyed playing bingo, crocheting afghans for her family
members and spending time with her friends and family.

Charleen is survived by her husband, LaValle Tate of Manly;
four daughters, Cheri and her husband, Paul Hakanson, and Vicki
Compton, all of Mason City; Rachel and her husband, Tim Bekish,
and Laura Tate, all of Des Moines; two sons, David Tate and Jeffery
Tate, both of Mason City; one brother, Dean Richard Jackson of
Tinely Park, Ill.; one sister, Beverly J. Foster of Mason City;
two half sisters, Amy Peterson of Goldfield and Martha of Waterloo;
two stepsisters, Lois Holmes and Arlyce Faille, both of Mason
City; one stepbrother, Eugene Welch of Garland, Texas; 15 grandchildren;
and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one infant daughter,
Christina.

Nora H. Ouverson, 74, of 715 Buddy Holly Place, died Monday
(Dec. 4, 1995) at the IOOF Home, Mason City.

Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 8, 1995, at
Zion Lutheran Church, 112 N. Fourth St., with the Rev. Jana
Swenson officiating.

Graveside services wil be held at 3:30 p.m. Friday at Brush
Point Cemetery, rural Fertile.

Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. Thursday at Ward-Van Slyke Colonial
Chapel, 101 N. Fourth St., with the family greeting friends from
5 to 7 p.m.

Memorials may be given to the Nora H. Ouverson Memorial Fund.

Nora was born July 23, 1920, in Thompson, the daughter of Nels
and Helga Marie (Pederson) Lund.

She graduated from Lake Mills High School in 1939.

Nora married Houston Ouverson on Sept. 8, 1940, in Owatonna,
Minn. They lived in Fertile.

Nora worked at the Forest City Lamp Company.

Nora moved to Clear Lake to live in 1971. She worked for the
Clear Lake Bakery from 1961-1981.

She loved to bake, do crafts, travel and most of all, her family.

Nora was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Clear Lake; Tina
Rebekah Lodge, Clear Lake; and Clear Lake VFW Auxiliary.

Nora is survived by her two sons, Tom Ouverson of Fort Meyers,
Fla., and Dennis Ouverson and his wife, Sara, of Clear Lake;
grandchildren Christopher Ouverson and Lana Ouverson, both of
Clear Lake, and Tara and Joel Ouverson, both of Sebring, Fla.;
three brothers, Lauris Lund and his wife, Wilma, of Cedar, Minn.;
Elmer Lund of Reno, Nev., and Milton Lund and his wife, Leona,
of Spring Valley, Minn.; and three sisters, Laura Kvale of Lake
Mills; Marie Bonnerud of Spring Valley, Minn., and Ida Weeks
of Albert Lea, Minn.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, in 1969;
two brothers, Ingolf and Arthur Lund; and one grandson, James
Ouverson.

as a barber.

He was married to Wanda Jenison on Jan. 22, 1950, in Albert
Lea, Minn.

He continued his career as a barber in Mason City, completing
40 years, which the last few years before he retired were spent
running the Regal Barber Shop, retiring in 1985 due to failing
eye sight.

He enjoyed hunting and fishing and also collected Civil War
memorabilia.

He was a member of DAV.

Survivors include his wife, Wanda Caponi of Mason City; one
daughter, Stephanie Bohl of Mason City; one son, Charles C. Caponi
and his wife, Kimberly, of Mason City; and grandchildren, Jason
Despenas, Timothy Despenas and Mollie Bohl all of Mason City.

The family of Edwin A. Lau has requested that memorial contributions

Edwin Alex Lau was born Oct. 23, 1902, the son of Herman and
Bertha (Wolff) Lau.  He was baptized at Bethlehem Lutheran Church
in Myrtle on Nov. 17, 1902, and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church,
Northwood, Iowa, by the Rev. J.O. Staehling.  He received his
education in the District 104 rural school system in Freeborn
County.

On June 4, 1930, Edwin was united in marriage with Naomi Will
at Bethlehem Lutheran Church and celebrated their 65th anniversary
this past June.  Together, he and Naomi farmed the farm where
Edwin was born, and where they resided at the time of his death.
To this union was born a son, Donald L. Lau of Glenville, and
a daughter, Darlene (Mrs. Lee Kvam) of rural Northwood, Iowa.

Edwin had a ``green thumb'' and was very proud of his farm and
his garden, especially the roses and gladiolus he and Naomi cared
for.  With his love of the land, he enjoyed the changing seasons
of new growth in the spring, and harvest in the fall.  They retired
from farming in 1975.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Naomi Lau of rural Myrtle;
one son, Donald Lau and his friend, Linda Beighley, of Glenville;;
one daughter, Darlene Kvam and her husband, Lee, of rural Northwood,
Iowa; and three grandsons, Jason Kvam of Fairmont; Michael Lau
of Myrtle, and Brian Kvam of rural Northwood, Iowa; one sister,
Leona Harder and her husband, Fred, of Correctionville, Iowa;
a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Ione and Alvin Hanson of
Albert Lea; one nephew and six nieces; as well as other relatives
and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Clara Ewald;
a daughter-in-law, Joyce Lau; as well as nieces, Viola Vandenburg,
Adeline Ewald, Adeline Schumacher and Susan Young.

Edwin was a devoted husband and father and enjoyed his children
and grandchildren.  He will be missed by those who knew and loved
him.

William J. ``Joe'' Vosburgh, 65, of 2209 N. Shore Drive, Clear
Lake, died Tuesday (Dec. 5, 1995) at the Americana Healthcare
Center in the company of his family.

the Fullerton Funeral Home, Rockwell, with the Rev. Robert Dodge

Joe was born Sept. 8, 1930, in Rockwell, the son of Dell and

He attended and graduated from Rockwell High School.

A year later, he joined the United States Air Force and served
for five years. He was with the Air Force Intelligence in Scotland
where he met and married Robin Williams, his bride of 42 years.

After returning from the service, he attended Mason City Junior
College and the University of Iowa.

He enjoyed a career in sales and was a field representative
for the Iowa Job Service until suffering a stroke in February
of 1968.

He was a post commander of the American Legion in Rockwell and
was a member of the  DAV and VFW.

Joe's will to live and unmatched spirit will be dearly missed
by his loving wife, Robin, and his four children, Bob, Sascha,
Dell and Sonja; his three sisters, Jean, June and Wanda; as well
as his eight grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Don worked for Jacob E. Decker and then transferred to Huron,
S.D., where he worked until he retired in 1983.

Don belonged to the United Methodist Church.

Calif.; Les Arganbright and his wife, Michelle, of Elberton,

Ruth E. Wilkinson was born Oct. 4, 1901, in Prairie du Chien,
Wis., the daughter of Fenton and Emma Wachter.

Ruth married Robert E. Wilkinson on Sept. 19, 1931, in Galena,
Ill.

The Wilkinsons moved to Mason City in 1939 where Ruth was a
registered nurse for St. Joseph Mercy Hospital and Park Hospital
for 30 years.

Ruth was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church and
Eastern Star.

Survivors include three sons, Robert F. Wilkinson of LaJolla,
Calif.; David N. Erdenberger of Helendale, Calif., and Richard
Erdenberger of Dallas, Texas; nine grandchildren who reside in
Florida, Texas, Colorado, California, Nebraska and North Carolina;
and great-grandchildren who reside in Colorado, Texas and Nebraska.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Clarence

James J. Hoppman Sr. was born Oct. 27, 1929, in Dubuque, the
son of Phillip J. and Genevieve T. (Wiegman) Hoppman.  Jim married
Velma A. Spielbauer on Jan. 14, 1950, at Sacred Heart Church
in Dubuque.  He was employed at International Harvester for 36
years, retiring as District Service Manager.  He was a member
of the Church of the Nativity and a former member of the school
board of Marquette High School in Bellevue and a former 4-H leader
for many years at St. Catherine.  Jim enjoyed restoring classic
cars and tractors and was currently restoring his 1947 Hudson.

Survivors include his wife, Velma A. Hoppman; three daughters,
Carol M. (James) Watters of Sioux Center; Donna M. (Donald) Mottet
of Bellevue, and Christine M. (Gary) Thompson, Boone; six sons,

and Sara A. (Yount) Lamaster, then raised her.  She was a graduate
of Unionville High School.  She was united in marriage to Noble
M. Coddington on June 3, 1946, at Preston, Minn.  She had been
a resident of Mason City for over 38 years.  She was a nurses
aide for 22 years at Mercy Hospital.  She loved to travel, cook
and tend her garden.  Her time with her family and friends was
very special to her.  She had been a member from an early age
at the First Christian Church in Unionville, Mo., and was a member
of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary.

Helen is survived by her four daughters, Mrs. Jim (Joanna) Olson
of Ellendale, Minn.; Donna Gettman of Wichita, Kan.; Melanie
Betels of Clear Lake and Mrs. Howard (Robin R.) Willhite of Wichita,
Kan.; one sister, Mrs. Jack (Dorothy) Oliver of Willits, Calif.;
nine grandchildren, Jimmy and Jean Olson, Jeff Olson, Jon Olson,
Janice and Jeff Pederson, Bruce and Sue Gettman, Scarlet and
Mike Aastrup, Hillary Betels, Shaun and Tyler Willhite; and 10

Algona.  She lived in Mason City most of her married life and
worked as a dietary aide for eight years at North Iowa Medical
Center, retiring in 1975.  Violet cared for people all of her
life and she had a love for her family, animals and flowers.

husband, Willis, of Mason City; Joan N. Sharp and her husband,
Darrell, of Vancouver, Wash., and Kathleen M. Ebaugh and her

Barbara Kiser
GAITHERSBURG, Md. 

Former Mason City, Iowa, resident Barbara Kiser died of cancer
on Oct. 23, 1995, at the Wilson Health Care Center in Gaithersburg.
A private service was held at the Asbury Methodist Village.

Her parents, Harold C. and Eulalia Johnson, were longtime residents
of Mason City, Iowa.

Mrs. Kiser attended school and graduated from the high school in 1943.
She was a member of the band and orchestra and participated in many
school activities.  She later attended the University of Wisconsin at
Madison where she was affiliated with Gamma Phi Beta Sorority.

Barbara married Ensign Charles A. Kiser on Dec. 1, 1946, at
the First Presbyterian Church in Mason City, Iowa.  As a career
Navy wife, she moved her family many times as her husband served
this country.  A special assignment took the family to Rota,
Spain, where Mr. Kiser was the commanding officer of the U.S.
Naval Air Base for several years.  On completion of the tour
of duty, the family traveled in Europe, often camping along the
way.

The family resided in Arlington, Va., for many years and recently
moved to a retirement village in Gaithersburg.

Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 49 years,
Capt. Charles A. Kiser, U.S. Navy, retired; two daughters, Pamela
Allison and her husband, Larry, of DeSota, Mo., and Karen Kiser
of McLean, Va.; one son, Jock Kiser and his wife, Sheree, of
Upland, Calif.; one half-sister, Mrs. M.S. Lougheed of Bowling
Green, Ohio; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and
one sister-in-law, Ruby Johnson of Newport, Ore.

ViLetta Benton, 81, of Rowan, died Wednesday (Dec. 6, 1995)
at the Clarion Community Hospital.

Funeral services will be held 1:30 p.m. today at the Immanuel
Evangelical Lutheran Church, east of Clarion, with the Rev.
Neil Heayen officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery, Rowan.

Visitation was held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Willim Funeral Home,
Clarion, with a 3 p.m. prayer service.

ViLetta Benton was born June 12, 1914, in Latimer.

Survivors include two daughters, Lois Ann Fink of Rowan and
Carla Rae Pallas of Sioux City; five grandchildren; and four
great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one sister,
one son and one grandson.

Thursday (Dec. 7, 1995) at North Iowa Mercy Health Center East.

Hector Munoz Sr., 48, of Hampton, died Thursday (Dec. 7, 1995)
at Franklin General Hospital.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday at Sietsema-Vogel
Funeral Home,  with the Rev. Gerald Condon officiating. Burial
will be in the Dumont Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home
in Hampton.

Hector Munoz Sr. was born July 9, 1947, in Waco, Texas.

Survivors include his wife, Debra Munoz of Hampton; three sons,
Jose Munoz of Cassville, Mo.; Hector Munoz Jr. of Hampton, and
Lupe Munoz of Hampton; two stepsons, Chris Schriber of Aredale
and Curt Schriber of Hampton; his mother, Dionicia Munoz of Eagle
Pass, Texas; two sisters, Elia Amaua of Marshalltown and Ana
Ramos of Marshalltown;  two brothers, Jose Munoz of Silvis, Ill.,
and Danny Munoz of Greenrock, Ill.; and seven grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father and one infant daughter.

Zora B. Wagner
DUMONT 

Zora B. Wagner, 87, of Dumont, died Thursday (Dec. 7, 1995)
at Franklin General Hospital, Hampton.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Monday at the Dumont United
Methodist Church, with the Rev. Marilyn Winch and the Rev. Doug
Swarthout officiating. Burial will be in the Dumont Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 2 until 7 p.m. Sunday at the Sietsema-Vogel
Funeral Home, Dumont.

Zora B. Wagner was born Oct. 13, 1908, in Dumont.

Survivors include three daughters, Colleen ``Coke'' M. Humburg
of Hampton; Mary Jane Conn of Bristow and Lois J. Wagner of Rochester,
Minn.; one brother, Berle ``Bud'' Shreve of Cedar Falls; one
sister, Ruby Steinman of Dumont; two grandchildren; and one great-
grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, seven sisters
and five brothers.

Barbara Joan Skala
PHOENIX, Ariz. 

Barbara Joan Skala, 24, a child of God, died Thursday (Nov.
16, 1995) at the home of her parents. She had just moved home
prior to her death to be with her parents.

A memorial service was held on Monday, Nov. 20, 1995, at the
Southern Avenue Missionary Baptist Church, in Phoenix, with the
Rev. J.H. Abram officiating.

Memorials may be sent in her name in care of Jerry and Marie
Skala, P.O. Box 83025, Phoenix, Ariz. 85071.

Barbara Joan Skala was born March 22, 1971, in Boone, Iowa,
a daughter of Jerry and Marie Skala.

They lived in Ogden, Iowa, for two years, then her family moved
to Mason City, Iowa, where they lived for four years.

She attended kindergarten at St. Joseph's Catholic Schools.

Her family then moved to Pueblo for a year and then to Phoenix
for five years. They then moved to Manassas, Va., for two years.

Her family made a final move back to Phoenix, where she graduated
from high school.

She attended one year at the Northern Arizona College in Flagstaff.

She went to work as an assistant manager at a Ramada Inn Communications
Center in Phoenix.

She loved her two little boys dearly and took great joy in spending
her spare time with them.

She is survived by her two sons, Kresean Skala, 4 years old,
and Kameron Skala, 2 years old; her parents, Jerry and Marie
Skala of Phoenix; her maternal grandfather, Joseph Barabe, of
Phoenix; nine brothers and sisters, Dennis Skala and his wife,
Cheryl and their son, James of Phoenix; Anne (Skala) Sullivan
and her children, Sara, Megan, Mareah, Jacob, Emily, and Sam
of Mason City, Iowa; Theresa (Skala) Paulsen and her children,
Travis, Elizabeth and Shane of Mason City, Iowa; Sheila Skala
and her children, Dale, Dyan, Dana, and Debi of Nevada; Mary
(Skala) Fears and her husband, Herb, and their children, Nolan,
Andrew, and Payten of Phoenix; Tim Skala and his wife, Allie
and their children, Tonya, Tina, Todd, Christopher, Jason and
Philip, all of Phoenix; Martin Skala and his wife, Joan and their
children, Tabitha, Joshua and Derek, all of Mason City, Iowa;
Domonic Skala and his daughter, Marrisa, both of Phoenix; and
Patrick Skala and his wife, Tasha, of Phoenix.

She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Ray
Skala and Geraldine Skala; and her maternal grandmother, Marie
(Olive) Barabe.

She will be missed by all who knew her.

She was a beautiful daughter, a treasured sister and a wonderful
mother.

Ruben A. Olson, 96, of Manly, died Thursday (Dec. 7, 1995) at
the Manly Care Center.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday at Bethlehem Lutheran
Church, 428 West Walnut, with the Rev. David Olson officiating.
Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Mason City.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of services at the
church.

Bride Colonial Chapel, 110 Spring St., is in charge of funeral
arrangements.

Ruben A. Olson was born May 4, 1899, in Northwood.

Survivors include many nieces and nephews and two sister-in-laws,
Augusta Saathoff of Grafton and Clare Macken of Manly
