PATRICIA ANN (Kudje) CAIN
Patricia Ann (Kudje) Cain, age 83, of
Harrison, Ark., formerly of Klemme,
died, Jan. 3, 2013, at Harrison, Ark.,
where she had lived since 1988.
Graveside service will be Tuesday, July
2, 1 p.m., at Ell Township Cemetery,
Klemme. A luncheon and time of
fellowship will follow at the Weathered
Goose Restaurant in Klemme.
Patricia was the daughter of Arthur and
Maybelle (Johnson) Kudje. She attended
Klemme Schools and graduated from Klemme
High School. She later met the love of
her life and future husband, Kenneth
Cain of Clear Lake, while on an outing
at the Surf Ballroom. The couple eloped
in April of 1949. Following their union
they moved to Colorado, where Pat was
employed with Colorado State Bank as an
operations officer for 32 years until
retirement in Englewood, Colo., where
she lived for 40 years before moving to
Harrison, Ark.
Survivors include her daughter, Karrie
(Marcus) Limperis, Mount Judea, Ark.;
granddaughter, Nicole (T.J.) Clark;
great-grandchildren, Kolby and Chase
Clark, and Roland Limperis; step-great
grandchild, Lydea Clark; her sisters,
Jacqueline Hiete and Virginia
Bakersville.
She was preceded in death by her
parents, husband Kenneth, grandson,
Daniel Limperis, and great-grandson,
Corbin Clark.

Beverly
J. Anderson, 80, of Clear Lake passed
away Friday, July 5, 2013, at the
Oakwood Care Center.
A funeral service will be held Monday,
July 8, at 10:30 a.m. at the United
Methodist Church, 10 N. Weimer St.,
Ventura, Iowa, with Pastor Rhoda Preston
officiating.
Visitation will be held from 5 until 7
p.m., Sunday, July 7, at Ward-Van Slyke
Colonial Chapel, 101 N. Fourth St.,
Clear Lake, Iowa.
Burial will be held following the
service at Memorial Park Cemetery, 11495
265th St., Highway 122 W., Mason City,
Iowa.
Beverly J. Anderson was born July 24,
1932, in Garner, the daughter of Birch
and Barbara Robison. She graduated from
Garner High School, and later worked at
a nursing home, drug store and grocery
store.
She was united in marriage to Calvin T.
Anderson on Dec. 12, 1950, at the Garner
Methodist Church. To this union six
children were born.
Beverly was active with her church
circle, an auxillary member of the
American Legion No. 256 in Garner, Iowa,
enjoyed spending time with family, and
baking. She also enjoyed listening to
Twins baseball, and Hawkeye basketball
on the radio, as well as attending her
grandchildren’s activities.
Beverly is survived by her children,
Michael (Mary) Anderson, Clear Lake,
Iowa, Janet (Rod) Reinholdt, LeClaire,
Iowa, Terry (Esther) Anderson, Ventura,
Iowa, Karen (Randy) Frisch, New Hampton,

Marcia Neuberger Garrett, 80 of Austin,
Texas, died Thursday, July 18, 2013.
Marcia was born Aug. 6, 1932, to John M.
and Pearl Ax Neuberger in Mason City.
She moved with her family to
Brownsville, Texas, in 1943. Marcia was
a school teacher for 33 years with AISD
in Texas.
She is survived by her brother, Dr. John
W. Neuberger and wife Barbara of Denton,
Texas; daughters, Debbie and Dean
Stromer of Klemme, Iowa, Beth and Mike
Brymer of Cedar Park, Texas, and Laura
and Mark Webb of Bastrop, Texas; her
grandchildren, Daniel and Mindy Stromer,
Jessica and Mark Irvin, William and
Mandy Stromer, David and Amanda Hopper

Morris
J. Kluver, 84, of Forest City, died
Thursday, July 25, 2013, at the Muse
Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason
City.
Memorial services will be held 10:30
a.m., Monday, July 29, at the Crystal
Lake United Methodist Church with the
Rev. Charles Layton officiating. Burial
will be in Crystal Township Cemetery in
Crystal Lake with military rites by the
Crystal Lake American Legion Post 409.
A memorial visitation will be held from
1 to 4 p.m., Sunday at the Petersen Lund
Funeral Home, 505 N. Clark St., in
Forest City, and will continue one hour
prior to services at the church.
Morris James Kluver, the son of Glen and
Eva (McCain) Kluver, was born on June
30, 1929, at home in rural Hancock
County. He was raised on the family farm
south of Crystal Lake. Morris graduated
from Crystal Lake High School in 1946,
and continued his education at Waldorf
College.
On November 20, 1951, he was
united in marriage to Janice Olson at
Faith Lutheran in Miller, Iowa.
He served his country in the U.S. Army
during the Korean Conflict decoding
messages. Morris received the Merit Unit
Commendation, the National Defense
Service Medal, the Korean Service Medal
with three Bronze Service Medals and the
United Nations Service Medal. Following
his honorable discharge in November of
1953, he returned to Crystal Lake.
Morris and Janice made their home on the
family farm south of Crystal Lake until
October 2004 when they moved into Forest
City.
Morris farmed and raised livestock. He
enjoyed his cows, eating out, having
coffee at Hardee’s, attending the
grandchildren’s events and spending time
with family.
Morris was a member of the Crystal Lake
United Methodist church. He served as a
4-H leader, the County Extension Board,
Woden-Crystal Lake School Board, Hancock
County Draft Board, was awarded Iowa
Master Farmer in 1975 and was a member
of the Crystal Lake American Legion Post
409 and Garner VFW Post 5515.
Morris is survived by his three sons,
James (Emily) of Roswell, N.M., Kent
(Paula) of The Villages, Fla., and Lynn
(DeEtta) of Crystal Lake; six
grandchildren, Lee and Seth Kluver of
San Diego, Calif., Brad (Tiernie) Kluver
of Mount Vernon, Iowa, Kellie Kluver
(fiancé Pat Sauter) of Cedar Rapids and
Taylor and Trevor of Crystal Lake; two
sisters, Glenys (Dale) Bird of McHenry,
Ill., and Eleanor Kluver of Crystal
Lake; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife,
Janice, October 28, 2012; his parents;
two brothers, and one sister.

Wanda
J. McLaughlin, 58, of Hanlontown, passed
away Wednesday (July 31, 2013) at her
home in Hanlontown surrounded by her
loving family.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at
10:30 a.m. Saturday (August 3, 2013) at
Epiphany Parish - St. Joseph Catholic
Church, 302 5th St. S.E., Mason City,
with the Rev. Neil Manternach as
Celebrant. Interment will follow in
Memorial Park Cemetery, Mason City.
Visitation will be held Friday evening
(August 2, 2013) from 4 p.m. until 7
p.m. at Hogan Bremer Moore Colonial
Chapel, 126 3rd St. N.E., Mason City
where the Catholic Daughters of the
Americas will recite a Rosary at 4 p.m.
followed by a Scriptural Wake service at
7 p.m.

left in Wanda's name in care of her
family.
Wanda Jean Chizek was born on November
6, 1954 in Mason City, the daughter of
Walter and Marceline (Varvel) Chizek,
she was one of nine children. Wanda
attended and graduated from Garner High
School amongst the class of 1973.
On June 27, 1973 Wanda was united in
marriage to Daniel Martin McLaughlin in
Duncan; this union would be blessed with
two daughters, Shawn Lee and Shannon
Lynn.
Throughout the years Wanda worked at
Deluxe, Winnebago, and cleaned houses in
neighboring communities. She was very
active within St. Joseph Catholic
Church, serving as a Eucharistic
Minister, CCD Instructor, and
administering Communion to the sick.
Family came first and foremost in
Wanda's life. She cherished the time
spent with her husband, daughters, and
grandsons. Some of her favorite times
were spent traveling and vacationing
with her family.
In her free time Wanda enjoyed
gardening, tending to her flowers, and
bird watching. She was an excellent cook
and always looked forward to hosting the
next family gathering which would be
filled with food, family, and fun.
Wanda will be remembered for her love of
life, unwavering faith, and caring
spirit. She was always ready to lend a
listening ear or offer a friendly piece
of advice in a time of need.

Mary Lou Ann Johnson, 58, of Britt, died
Friday, June 7, 2013 at the Hancock
County Hospital, Britt. Graveside

Community Nursing Home.

Arnold Hejlik was born April 20, 1941
the son of Raymond and Marie (Drabek)
Hejlik in rural Britt. He attended rural
county school and graduated from Britt
Community High School in 1959. After
graduating he worked at the Britt Co-Op
Elevator and helped his father farm and
milk cows. He joined the Army Reserves
at Garner, in 1962.
On Aug. 24, 1963, he married Bette
Krause at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church
by Rt. Rev. Msgr. W. Hradecky in Duncan.
In March 1964, they moved to the
Dougherty (Cartersville) area where he
farmed for 19 years. He discontinued
farming in 1982 due to his disability of
Multiple Sclerosis. He thanks his father
and God for giving him those years on
the farm. In 1990, he and Bette moved
into a handicapped-accessible home in
Rockwell.
Arnold was a member of the Catholic
Workman Lodge 51 in Duncan. He enjoyed
family times with his children and
grandchildren. He also enjoyed the trips
to Texas, Florida and the D.C. area
where his children live. Arnold
especially liked watching the farmers’
fields as they drove to these places.
Many times they drove different ways to
get to there. He loved farming and polka
music, and continued going to polka
fests in his wheelchair. He enjoyed
playing the accordion for many years
until his hands became more disabled. In
1996, Arnold was diagnosed with Chronic
Lymphocytic Leukemia (CLL) and he became
a resident of the Rockwell Community
Nursing Home in December 2012.
Arnold is survived by his wife, Bette
and three children, Cheryl (Tom)
Peterson, Ponte Vedra, Fl; Daniel
(Teresa) Woodlands, Texas; and Karl
(Erica) Washington D.C. He has six
grandchildren (Iliana, Callan, Tre,
Grace, Promise and Brianna, and one
great-grandson, Jordan). Arnold is also
survived by two sisters, Kay (Don)
Kopacek, Britt; Mari Batty Rockford;
three brothers Ronald (Mary) Nashville,
Ill; Darryl (Mali),Mason City, and Jerry
of Clear Lake. His in-laws surviving him
are Jerold (Hoa) Layton, Utah; Joanne
Myers (Donal) Austin, Texas; Duane
(Sharon) Britt; Max (Carolyn) Kanawha;
and Donald (Carol) Little Egg Harbor 1,
N.J.; as well as many nieces, nephews
and cousins.
His parents preceded him in death.

John A. Bauer, 87, of Mason City, died
Monday, July 15, 2013, at the Good
Shepherd Health Center.
A funeral mass was 10:30 a.m. on Friday,
July 19, 2013, at Epiphany Parish - Holy
Family Catholic Church, 714 North Adams,
with Rev. Neil Manternach officiating.
Visitation was from 5 to 7 p.m., with a
scriptural wake service at 6:30 p.m.

Thursday (July 18, 2013) at Major
Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N.

John was born July 17, 1925, in
Stockholm, Wis., the son of Rudolph and
Clara (Uhlenhake) Bauer. He attended
school in Wisconsin. John served his
country in the U.S. Army during WWII
before his honorable discharge in 1945.
John was a POW and wrote a book about
his experience. He was very proud of
this book.
On June 8, 1946, John married Mildred M.
Chodur at the St. Boniface Church in
Garner. Farming was a big part of John’s
life. He owned/operated Bauer Implement
as an International Harvester
Dealership, which was a family owned
business in Wesley for over 75 years.
Family was very important to John. He
loved spending time together -
especially with his grandchildren. John
enjoyed collecting farm memorabilia (toy
tractors etc…), visiting with fellow
farmers, traveling, casino trips,
watching sports on TV, feeding the
wildlife in his backyard and watching
nature while relaxing on his patio. He
also enjoyed golfing and was thrilled
when he got a hole-in-one at the Wesley
Country Club (hole #3). John was a
member of Holy Family Catholic Church in
Mason City and a past member of St.
Joseph’s Catholic Church in Wesley. He
was also a member of the VFW.
John loved to have a good laugh and
became known as a "jokester". He will be
deeply missed.
