Florence G. Thompson, 74, of
Kanawha, died of complications
from a heart condition on
Tuesday, July 3, 2001, at the
Desert Samaritan Hospital in
Mesa, Arizona.
Funeral services
for Mrs. Thompson were held on
Monday, July 9, at the Kanawha
Lutheran Church, Kanawha. The
Rev. Dr. William H. Breen,
interim pastor, officiated.
Burial was in the
Amsterdam Township Cemetery. The
Ewing Funeral Home of Kanawha
was in charge of the
arrangements.

Lois L. Adreon, 1934-2001
July 10, 2001
Lois Lorraine Adreon, of Britt,
died on Wednesday, July 4, 2001,
at the Muse-Norris Hospice
Inpatient Unit in Mason City.
She was 66.
Funeral services were held on
Saturday, July 7, at the United
Methodist Church of Britt. The
Rev. Robert Dodge officiated.
Music was provided by Peggy
Eisenman who accompanied
soloists, Darcy Eisenman and
Erin Eisenman. Ushers were
Robert Bravick and Harry Smith.
Burial was in the Evergreen
Cemetery, Britt. The Ewing
Funeral Home was in charge of
the arrangements.
Casket bearers
were Tom Grant, Max Studer, Josh
Eisenman, John Howe, Mark
Eisenman and Jake Studer.
Honorary bearers were Chad
Eisenman, Michah Howe, Brady
Studer and Ben Eisenman.
Lois Lorraine
Adreon, the daughter of James
and Elizabeth Marie (Freerkson)
Shelton was born on December 30,
1934 at Kanawha. She attended
the Kanawha High School and the
Britt High School, graduating
with the class of 1952.
Following graduation she was
employed as a clerk in a local
grocery store.
On August 30.
1952, she was united in marriage
with Dayton Adreon in Britt. The
couple made their home in
Norfolk, Virginia, while Dayton
served in the U.S. Navy. The
moved back to Britt in 1955.
Mrs. Adreon was employed as a
bookkeeper with Fedders
Healthmart.
She was a member
of the united Methodist Church
of Britt and enjoyed reading,
sewing and spending time with
family.
Survivors include
her husband, Dayton of Britt;
three daughters, Robin Howe and
her husband, John of Garner, Kim
Grant and her husband, Tom of
Britt and Darcy Eisenman and her
husband, Mark of Britt; a
son-in-law, Max Studer of
Garner; ten grandchildren; and
one great-grandchild.
Also surviving
are three sisters, Helen Brunes
and her husband, Stanton of
Goodell, Marjorie Clark of Mason
City and Carole Taylor of Mason
City; and one brother, James
Shelton of Cedar Falls.
She was preceded
in death by her parents; one
daughter, Tracy; one grandson,
Michael; and one sister,
Dorothy.

Robert J. Blumer, 1929-2001
July 10, 2001
Former Garner resident Robert J.
Blumer, of Fountain, Minnesota,
died of complications from a
stroke, on Wednesday, July 4,
2001. He was 72.
Funeral services
were held on Saturday, July 7,
at the United Methodist Church
of Garner. The Rev. Kay Hooper
officiated. Burial was in the
Memorial Park Cemetery, Mason
City. The Riley Funeral Home of
Chatfield, Minnesota, was in
charge of the arrangements.
Robert Jacob Blumer, was born on
June 3, 1929 in rural Garner. He
was the son of Jacob and Fannie
(Heginger) Blumer. He attended
school through the eighth grade.
Mr. Blumer served in the U.S.
Army from 1951 to 1953.
On March 11,
1952, Robert Blumer and Iola
Riemer were married at Garner.
Mr. Blumer was engaged in a
farming operation near Garner
until 1979, when they moved to
rural Fountain and later to the
city of Fountain. He was a
member of the Farmers Co-op
Creamery, Farmers Co-op Elevator
and a member of the Farm Bureau
Board. He was also a 4-H Leader
for nine years.
Survivors include
his wife, Iola; son, Donovan
Blumer and his wife, Julie of
Fountain, Minnesota; a daughter,
Barbara Blumer of Garner; and
two grandchildren.
Also surviving
are two brothers, Donald Blumer
and his wife, Thelma of Luana,
Iowa and Harold Blumer and his
wife, Dorothy of Garner; and two
sisters, Betty Halverson and her
husband, Alvin of Garner and
Ivadelle Schoenwetter and her
husband, Raymond of Garner.
Mr. Blumer was
preceded in death by his
parents.

Paul N. Jenn, 1976-2001
August 8, 2001
Paul Nathaniel Jenn, of West
Branch, formerly of Britt, died
on Saturday, July 28, 2001, as a
result of a motor-vehicle
accident north of Ventura. He
was 25.
Funeral services
were held on Thursday, August 2,
at the West Hancock High School
in Britt. The Rev. Brooks
Simpson and the Rev. Chuck
Walton officiated. Music was
provided by pianist, Marilyn
DeKruyff who accompanied
soloist, Dennis TerHark. Ushers
were John Harle, Doug Thompson,
Curt Kopacek and Rob Thompson.
Casket bearers
were Shane Boorn, Neil Daugard,
Sam Bunk, Ryan Kinsella, Gabe
McMahon, Brad Schlichting, Mike
Redman and Trent Smidt. Burial
was in the Evergreen Cemetery,
Britt. The Ewing Funeral Home of
Britt was in charge of the
arrangements.
Paul Nathaniel
Jenn, the son of John and
Lucinda (Hagedorn) Jenn was born
on July 11, 1976 in Sac City,
Iowa. The Jenn family later
moved to Britt where Paul
attended the Britt Grade School
and graduated from the West
Hancock High School in 1995. He
attended Iowa Central Community
College and then transferred to
the University of Iowa.
On August 1,
1998, Paul Jenn was united in
marriage with Angela Abels in
Kanawha. The couple lived in the
Iowa City area, while Paul
attended the University of Iowa.
He wrestled for the Hawkeyes
from 1997-2000 and placed fourth
at the Big 10 meet as a junior
and sixth as a sophomore. He
graduated from the University of
Iowa in May of 2000, and
received his teaching
certification in May of 2001. He
was to have taught physics at
the Mason City High School in
the fall of 2001.
In 1984, Paul
became a born again Christian.
He worked extensively with
wrestling camps and spoke to
youth groups sharing his
Christian testimony. He
continued giving of himself as a
tissue donor following his
death.
Survivors include
wife, Angela of West Branch; his
parents, John Jenn of Britt and
Lucinda McClellan and her
husband, Clifford of Temple,
Texas; one brother, Stephen Jenn
and his children, Jeff, Brady,
and Cheree Jenn of Garner; two
sisters, Laurel Thomas and her
husband, Jon of Manassas,
Virginia and Kristin Jenn of
Britt.

Mark Julius Studer, 1920-2001
August 8, 2001
Mark Julius Studer, died on
Sunday, July 29, 2001, at Britt.
A Funeral Mass was held on
Wednesday, August 1, at 10:30
a.m., at the St. Joseph Catholic
Church in Wesley, with Father
Dan Greiving officiating. Music
was provided by Ann Studer,
organist and special music by
the St. Joseph Parish Funeral
Choir.
Interment was in the St. Joseph
Catholic Cemetery with military
graveside services conducted by
the Andrew's American Legion
Post #428, Wesley. The
Garry-Roberts-Murphy-Schaaf
Funeral Home of Wesley was in
charge of the arrangements.
Casket bearers were Andrew
Davis, Don Ricke, Craig Studer,
Dan Studer, David Studer and
Tracy Studer.
Mark Julius
Studer, was born on May 10, 1920
in rural Wesley, the son of
Benedict Gregory and Zita
(Matern) Studer. He attended the
St. Joseph Catholic School,
Wesley. Mark served as a crew
chief in the Army Air Force
during WW II.
Mark married
Mildred Flora Fox on October 9,
1946, at the St. Joseph Catholic
Church, Wesley. They farmed
south of Wesley for many years,
retiring in 1984.
Mark was a board
director at the Farmers CO-OP
Association of Wesley for 33
years. He was an active American
Legion member, being a life
member of Andrew's Post #428,
Wesley. He also served on the
American Legion of Iowa
Foundation Board of Directors
and the National Executive
Committee of the American Legion
from 1978 to 1979. He also
served on the B-26 Marauder
Historical Society and was the
Iowa Representative of the
National Executive Committee of
the American Legion.
He is survived by
his wife, Mildred Studer of
Wesley; three children, Lavonne
Newlin and her husband, Jerry of
Cape Coral, Florida, Louise
Davis and her husband, Roy of
Mountain Lake, New Jersey and
Mark A. Studer and his wife,
Jane of Wesley; three
grandchildren, Andrew Davis,
Mountain Lakes, New Jersey,
Tracy Studer and his wife,
Mandie of Wesley and Kristin
Studer of Wesley; one brother,
Ben J. Studer of Wesley; two
sisters, Zita Welter of
Montgomery City, Missouri and
Bernadette Cassel of Los
Angeles, California; and many
nieces and nephews.
He was preceded
in death by his parents; three
sisters, Mira Saastad, Eve
Waldschmidt and Eunice Ricke;
and two brothers, Nate Studer
and Paul Studer.
