Doris Lou Hilpipre, 89, of
Clarion, passed away on Monday,
December 17, 2012, at the
Clarion Wellness and
Rehabilitation Center in
Clarion.
Funeral services will be held on
Wednesday, December 19, at 11:00
a.m., at the United Church of
Christ Congregational in
Clarion, with Pastor Bill Kem
officiating. Burial will be in
the Evergreen Cemetery in
Clarion. Visitation will be for
one hour prior to the services
at the church on Wednesday.
Doris Lou Hilpipre, the daughter
of Frank William and Clara
Elizabeth (Rust) Baxter, was
born on July 15, 1923 in
Sheffield, Iowa. The family
moved to Britt in 1928, where
Doris went to school, graduating
from the Britt High School in
1941. Doris then attended the
Junior College in Britt for two
years. On November 8, 1947,
Doris was united in marriage to
Marvin Hilpipre at the Methodist
Parsonage in Britt. The couple
farmed south of Clarion for many
years until moving into Clarion
in 1976. Doris worked at Tomke
Drug for 30 years and Hagen
Gifts as a clerk and Nelson
Plumbing until her retirement in
2010.
Doris was a baptized member, for
over 50 years, of the United
Church of Christ Congregational,
where she was very involved and
taught Sunday School. Doris was
an active member of the
community. She helped organize
the Wall Lake 4H Club, was a
member of the American Legion
Auxiliary for over 70 years, 4H
judge, Navy Mothers for over 40
years, co-chaired bingo for 6
years, a Charter Member of the
Wright Medical Center Auxiliary,
helped establish the gift shop
at the hospital and in 2010, was
named Auxiliary and Volunteer
Shining Star by the Iowa
Hospital Association. Doris
loved to travel and had visited
49 states. She was an avid
reader, volunteered a lot of her
time and liked to crochet, knit
and embroider items for family
and friends. Playing cards was
another activity she enjoyed.
Doris is survived by her son,
Terry (Kathy) Hilpipre of
Clarion; daughter-in-law, Anita
Hilpipre of Woolstock;
grandchildren, BriAnne (Jeff)
Hiatt of Littleton, Colorado,
Garrett Hilpipre of Denver,
Colorado, Greg Hilpipre of
Denver, Colorado, Ginger
(Gareth) Brown of Forest Field,
Western Australia;
step-grandson, Chad (Alicia)
Babcock of Columbia, Alabama and
his 2 sons, Evan and John;
sister, Phyllis Hughes of Clear
Lake; along with nieces,
nephews, other family members
and friends.
She was preceded in death by her
parents; husband, Marvin; son,
Gary; brother, Carroll Baxter;
and sister, Donnabelle Moats.

Wayne E. Anderson

Wayne
E. Anderson, 92, of Britt,
entered into the presence of his
Lord and Savior on Monday,
December 24, 2012, at the
Kanawha Community Home.
Funeral services will be held at
10:30 a.m., on Saturday,
December 29, at the Evangelical
Free Church in Britt, with
Pastor Stan Johnson officiating.
Burial will be in the Evergreen
Cemetery in Britt. Visitation
will be one hour prior to the
services at the church on
Saturday.
Wayne Eugene Anderson, the son
of Charley and Lena (Dallman)
Anderson, was born on March 14,
1920, on the family farm
southwest of Britt which his
grandfather, August Anderson,
Sr. homesteaded. He attended the
Boone Township country school.
Wayne's father, Charley bought
the family farm after his
parents passed away. Charley was
born on this farm and lived
there until his death. Wayne was
the third generation to work and
live on the farm. On December 1,
2007, he moved to the Summit
House in Britt. In July of 2012
he entered the Kanawha Community
Home.
Wayne was a faithful member of
the Evangelical Free Church in
Britt for over 65 years. He held
various offices in the church in
his younger years. In his older
years he often went to the
Westview Care Center in Britt
delivering Sunday School papers
and Daily Bread devotionals to
many of the residents. Due to
failing health, he had to give
this up in 2007.
Wayne was a quiet man who loved
the Lord dearly. He accepted the
Lord as his personal Savior at
the age of 12. Through the way,
Wayne lived his life, and from
the sharing of his testimony, he
was a witness of his love, faith
and devotion to Jesus Christ.
Wayne was a "prayer warrior" and
dearly loved meeting with his
church family. His faith in the
Lord gave his life meaning and
purpose. God's faithfulness in
his life was his strength, hope
and comfort.
Left to cherish his memory are
his two nieces, Jane (Dwight)
Anderson of Garner and Julie
(Robert) Fern, Jr. of Plymouth,
Minnesota; six grandnephews and
grandnieces, Matthew (Nancy)
Anderson and daughters, Ashley
and Emma of Britt, Jay Anderson
of Garner and Thea, Tyler,
Tiffany and Trevor Fern of
Plymouth, Minnesota; a special
cousin, Emil Eisenmann of Swea
City; and other cousins and
friends.
He
was preceded in death by his
parents; a sister, Maxine (Ted)
Rinden; and an infant brother,
Dale.
