Norma Elaine Carnes, age 85, of Northwood, died
on Sunday, August
1, 2004, at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City, Iowa.
Funeral services
will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Thursday, at the Schroeder and Sites Funeral Home,
Northwood, with Rev. Karl Hermanson of the First Shell Rock Lutheran Church
officiating. Inurnment will take place on Friday, at 10:00 a.m., at the Sunset Rest
Cemetery, Northwood. Visitation will be on Wednesday, from 5-8:00 p.m., at the
Schroeder and Sites Funeral Home. Memorials may be directed to the Hospice of
North Iowa.
Norma was born on November 26, 1918 in Cushing, Iowa, to Herman
and Rose (Schulz) Lage. She was the youngest of five children. She married
Douglas W. Carnes on February 23, 1937. Norma and Douglas moved to Northwood in
1937. She was a member of the First Shell Rock Lutheran Church. They spent the
next 66 years in Northwood and raised three children.
Norma enjoyed traveling,
fishing, quilting, bird watching and playing bridge. With the onset of muscular
degeneration about five years ago, her involvement in these activities were
curtailed. Nevertheless, she stayed active and continued her relationship with
her many friends.
Norma is survived by her husband, Douglas; her three
children, DuWayne and his wife, Bonnie of Olympia Fields, Illinois, Dennis and his wife,
Phyllis of Muskogee, Oklahoma and Pam Mahoney and her husband, Fred of Springfield, Virginia;
seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one sister, Hazel Armiger of
Tennessee.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers; one
sister; and one grandson, Douglas.
The Schroeder and Sites Funeral Home

Mildred “Millie” I. Johnsrud

Mildred
"Millie" I. Johnsrud, 83, of Northwood, died on Tuesday, August 3, 2004, at the
Lutheran Retirement Home in Northwood.
Memorial services were held on Friday, August
6, 2004, at the First Lutheran Church, Northwood, with Rev. Wayne Hagen
officiating. Inurnment was in the East Freeborn Lutheran Church Cemetery, Albert
Lea, Minnesota. According to her wishes her body was cremated.
Mildred "Millie" I. Johnsrud, was born on December 9, 1920, in Hanlontown, Iowa, the
daughter of Olaf and Christina (Thorson) Torgerson. She attended and received
her education in the Northwood School System, graduating from the Northwood High
School. She was united in marriage to Robert Johnsrud on March 19, 1941 in San
Francisco, California. He preceded her in death on December 7, 1974. Millie worked first as
a cook for Ron's Drive Inn Restaurant in Northwood and than worked for 35 years
at the Midway Café in Northwood until her retirement.
She enjoyed golfing,
dancing, watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren dance, bowling, had
a zest for life and loved and enjoyed her family and grandchildren. She was a
member of the First Lutheran Church, was on a ladies bowling league, VFW ladies
auxiliary member, Northwood Country Club, and also belonged to a study club, all
in Northwood. Left to cherish her memory are her children,
Katy Jaspers and her husband, Allen of Northwood and Bob Johnsrud of Northwood
and special friend, Shirley Davis of Huntington Beach, California; four grandchildren,
Jill Rothove and her husband, Todd of Kensett, Kelly Theiss and her husband, Adam
of Arlington Heights, Illinois, Joel Jaspers of Northwood and Kyle Jaspers and his wife,
Jena of Lisbon, Iowa; five great-grandchildren, Collin Jaspers, Katelyn Jaspers,
Zak Snyder, Tristan Rothove and Emily Theiss; a sister, Geneva Hove of St.
Louis, Missouri; two nieces, JoAnn Sanden and her husband, Melvin and Susan Franson,
both of St. Louis, Missouri; as well as other relatives and many friends.
Besides her husband, Millie was also preceded in death by her parents.

Alma Anderson

Alma Anderson, passed away
on Tuesday, August 3, 2004, at the Lutheran Retirement Home
in Northwood, where she had been a resident for 17 years.
She was 109 years old—the oldest native of
Worth County.
Funeral services were held on Saturday,
August 7, at the First Lutheran Chapel in Albert Lea, with the Rev. Dan Baker
officiating. Interment was in the Hillcrest Cemetery.
Alma was born on January 13, 1895, to Ole B. and
Helen (Trom) Reyerson in Silver Lake Township, Worth County. She was baptized
and confirmed in the Silver Lake Lutheran Church and grew up on the family farm.
When Alma was a young woman, she was a live-in housekeeper for many prominent
families throughout the area. In 1934, she returned to the family farm following
the death of her mother and brother, George, who both died on the same day. With
the help of neighbors and hired help, she tended the family farm for five years
when her brother, Roy and family moved to the homestead and Alma moved to Albert
Lea. She then became a member of the First Lutheran Church.
Alma was a wonderful
seamstress and did sewing for many people. She also worked at the Dahl Grocery
on Bridge Street in Albert Lea. She loved to entertain and always set a
beautiful table. On October 31, 1944, Alma was united in marriage to Chris Anderson
and the couple resided in Albert Lea. One of the highlights in
her life was a trip to Denmark to visit Chris' homeland. Chris passed away on February
25, 1974. Alma remained in her home until moving to the Northwood Retirement
Home. Although Alma never had any children, she was a mother and grandmother
figure to many. Left to cherish her memory are a niece, Hazel
Shaw of Fargo, North Dakota and her nephew's wife, Dorothy Reyerson, who had attended to
Alma's personal life for many years. Other survivors are great-nieces, Marge
Tenold and husband, Dave; Donna Haugen and husband, Neil; Joan Vorland and husband,
Tom; Jean Hrubetz and special friend, Tom Capranos and Eileen Dahlby, all of
Northwood and Mavis Wagner and husband, Ray of Fargo; and a host of
great-great-nieces and nephews. Alma was preceded in death by
her parents; husband, Chris; brothers, George and Roy; and sister-in-law, May Reyerson;
and a special nephew, Maurice Reyerson who passed away in 2003.

Inez A. Enerson

Inez
A. Enerson, 92, formerly of Northwood, died on Wednesday,
August 4, 2004, at the Lutheran Retirement Home in Northwood.
Funeral services
were held on Monday, August 9, at the First Lutheran Church,
Northwood, with Rev. Wayne Hagen of the First Lutheran Church and Rev. Robert Luebbert of the Northwood Baptist Church co-officiating. Burial was
in the South
Shell Rock Cemetery in rural Northwood. The family requests that memorials may
be left to the Lutheran Retirement Home, the First Lutheran Church for the radio
broadcast, or to the South Shell Rock Cemetery.
Inez Aletta,
the daughter of Carl and Oline (Mathiason) Nelson, was born on December 15, 1911 in
rural Freeborn County, Minnesota. She attended various rural schools in Worth
County. After her schooling, she helped her family on the farm. She also worked
in Northwood as a housekeeper. Inez was united in marriage to Ernest Enerson in
June 1937 at the First Lutheran Parsonage. The couple farmed the home farm in
rural Northwood for over forty-five years. Inez also worked as a cook in several
restaurants in Northwood. In 1963, the couple started in the egg production
business called "Triple E", which was also known as the Enerson's Egg Emporium.
Ernest died in October 1982. In December 1984, Inez married Egon Jensen at the First
Lutheran Church, Northwood. The couple continued to run Triple E.
Inez entered
the Lutheran Retirement Home in April of 2000, where she has resided since and Egon passed away in May of 2000.
Inez was an excellent cook and will always be
remembered for her meatballs and lefse at the First Lutheran Church Lutefisk
dinners. Inez's greatest love was spending time with her family, especially her
grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed playing cards such as
500 and Whist, gardening, sewing, and crocheting until her eye sight failed her.
She was a very active member of the First Lutheran Church, where she taught
Sunday School and held several offices in the various women's organizations. As
well as being a member of the First Lutheran Church, she and Egon regularly
attended Sunday services at the First Baptist Church of Northwood. She was a
member of the Albert Lea Eagles Club, a 4H Leader for several years and she was
also a judge for the Worth County 4-H Board.
Inez is survived
by her daughter, Joan Johnson and her husband, Gordon of La Crosse, Wisconsin; three
granddaughters and their husbands, Susan and Dan Leifer of La Crosse, Sara and
Peter Platten of Green Bay, Wisconsin and Kristin and Joe Hoeth of La Crosse; five
great-grandchildren, Megan Leifer, David Leifer, and William Hoeth all of La
Crosse and Peter Platten and Katherine Platten of Green Bay;
one brother, Maurice Nelson of Minnesota; one sister-in-law, Selma Gerszewski of
Northwood; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in
death by her parents; her first husband, Ernest Enerson; her second husband, Egon
Jensen; three sisters, Selma, Mabel, and Sena; and seven brothers, Christ, Axel,
Casper, Helmer, Norman, Clarence and Alfred.

"Vickie" Gail Hanson, 49, of Northwood, died on Thursday, August 5, 2004, at

Evangelical Free Church, Mason City. Victoria "Vickie" Gail
Hanson, was born on May 20, 1955 in Hartford, Connecticut, the daughter of Richard
and Sarah (Marstaller) Durost. She graduated from the Windsor Locks High School in
Connecticut. After high school she attended The Kings College in Briar Cliff
Manor, New York, where she received her bachelors degree in psychology. Vickie
was united in marriage to Greg Hanson on January 7, 1978 in Carbondale,
Illinois and to this union three children were born. Vickie studied piano for 15
years and later taught piano lessons for 12 years. She worked at the Grace
Evangelical Free Church as a musician, later taking the position of Worship
Coordinator. She was an accompanist for the Northwood and Mason City Schools.
She was a member of the Grace Evangelical Free Church, Mason City. Vickie loved
being close to family and friends, music, gardening, and watching family in
school activities. She is survived by her husband, Greg Hanson
of Northwood; children, Sarah (Lawrence) Lee of Bluff City ,Tennessee, Jon (Elly)
Hanson of Stratford and Samuel Hanson of Northwood; parents, Richard and Sarah Durost of Ocala, Florida; father-in-law, James A. Hanson of Northwood; sister, Rebecca
(Bruce) Fish of Bend, Oregon; brother, Major Richard (Andrea) Durost of Puyallup,
Washington; sister, Edith (William) Emerson of Augusta, Maine; along with many nieces and
nephews. She is preceded in death by grandparents; and
mother-in-law, Virginia Hanson.

Howard James Bakken
August 18, 2004
Howard James Bakken, of Plymouth, Iowa, died
on Wednesday, August 11, 2004, at the Good Shepherd Health Center, under Hospice
Care, in Mason City Iowa, at the age of 78.
Memorial services
were held on Friday, August 13, at the Schroeder & Sites Funeral Home,
Northwood. Pastor Wendi Gillan officiating. Interment took place in the Sunset
Rest Cemetery, Northwood.
Howard was born on October 1, 1925 in Northwood, Iowa, to Ole O. and Clara (Vold)
Bakken. He was baptized and confirmed at the First Lutheran Church in Northwood.
Howard married Janice Johnson on June 5, 1948, at the Silver Lake Lutheran Church. He
was a salesperson at Gildners in Northwood and transferred to Cresco and had his
own Gildner Store. He then returned to Northwood and worked at J. C. Penny in
Mason City where he made many friends. In later years, he also worked at Price
Motors in Mason City. He later was forced to retire due to a stroke but kept up
his passion of having coffee with friends and sharing his baked goods and
gardening products. Howard loved people and had many friends with whom he had
coffee daily. Marla Gaubatz was a very faithful friend and very much
appreciated by Howard and his family. Howard will be sadly
missed by his three daughters, Dianne Meyers and her husband, Chuck of Plymouth,
Connie Suby and her husband, Mark of Mason City and Nancy Serdahl of Naples,
Florida; six grandchildren, Suzanne (Gary) Miller, Michelle (Jared) Hendershot,
Heather Suby, Jason (Sarah) Suby, Ben Serdalh and Shane Serdahl; two great-grandchildren, Benjamin Miller and Nicholas Miller; and
special friend, Mavis Beenan.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother;
and two sisters.

Richard Alan Hanson

Richard
Alan Hanson, 74, of Northwood, Iowa, died on Thursday, August 12, 2004, at his
home in Northwood, after a short battle with cancer.
Funeral services were held on Monday,
August 16, at 10:30 a.m., at the First Lutheran Church, Northwood, with
Rev. Wayne Hagen officiating. Military honors were given by the VFW Post No 6779 Our Buddies
Memorial of Northwood. Burial was in the Sunset Rest Cemetery in
Northwood. Visitation was on Sunday, at the Schroeder & Sites Funeral Home, Northwood.
Richard "Dick" was born on January 15, 1930 in St.
Ansgar, Iowa, on the family farm during a snow storm, to Harry and Faye (Noven)
Hanson. He was baptized and confirmed at the First Lutheran Church, Northwood. He
attended high school in St. Ansgar and graduated from the Devries Institute in
Chicago for electronics. He served in active duty in the U.S. Army from 1953
until 1955 being honorably discharged in 1956. Dick married Evelyn (Evy) Wolff
on June 22, 1956 and was later divorced.
Dick served 45 years on the Northwood
Volunteer Fire Company. He was self employed in his own businesses, Hanson Radio
and TV, Northwood; Areo Flight Services, Mason City; Hanson Communications/G&D
Auto, Northwood. His hobbies included flying, camping (motor homing) and
fishing. Dick is survived by his sons, Rick and his wife, Diane
Hanson of Northwood and Ron and his wife, Jody Hanson of Rochester; four
grandchildren, Kyle and Cody of Northwood, Ashley and Angela of Rochester; a
sister, Shirly (Dennis) Lind of Rochester; sister-in-laws, Ruth Hanson of St.
Ansgar and Haddie Hanson of Northwood; and a special friend, Marjorie A. Smith of
London, Minnesota. He was preceded in death by his parents;
and two
brothers, William Hanson of St. Ansgar and Marlin Hanson of Northwood.

Adeline Elmira Lindblom
August 18, 2004
Adeline Elmira Lindblom, 89, of San Antonio, Texas, passed
away on Friday, August 13, 2004, in a hospital in San Antonio, Texas, after a fall in
her home. Internment will take place at a later date in Danville, Virginia.
Adeline was born on July 15, 1915, on a farm near Northwood, Iowa, to C. B.
(Bennie) and Jennie (Sime) Harmon. She graduated in 1932 from the Northwood High
School. She was married in 1940 to Andrew Lindblom. She spent most of her adult
life in New York, New York and Danville, Virginia.
Survivors
include a daughter, Algine (Jim) Perry of San Antonio, Texas; a son-in-law,
Robert Koerner of Charlotte, North Carolina; four grandchildren; 5
great-grandchildren; and a sister, Carol (Earl) Kobernusz of Manly, Iowa.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Andrew; a daughter,
Marlene; and a brother, Ernest.

Lyle Obert Tenold

Lyle
Obert Tenold, 79, of Mesa, Arizona, formerly of Kensett, died on Saturday, August 14,
2004, in Phoenix, Arizona.
A memorial service will be held on
Saturday, August 28, at the Wells Clubhouse in Mesa, Arizona, at 1:00 p.m. After
cremation an additional memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, September
4, at the Conner Colonial Chapel, Northwood, with
Reverend Allan J. Stoa officiating. Inurnment will be in the Kensett Cemetery
with military honors by the "Our Buddies" VFW Memorial Post #6779 of Northwood.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service time on Saturday at the chapel.
Lyle Obert Tenold, was born on June 8, 1925 in Worth County, Iowa, to Gaylord
and Norma (Medgaarden) Tenold. As a youth the family moved east of Scarville,
Iowa, where they farmed. Lyle attended the Scarville Public School, excelling in
academics and sports. After graduation, he enlisted in the Army Air Force. He
attended Luther College in Decorah, for two years, where Lyle also played
semi-pro baseball. He then transferred to the University of Iowa to finish his
bachelors' degree and later earned his masters degree from the University of
Northern Colorado in Greeley. On May 18, 1957, Lyle was united in marriage to
Patricia Folven at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Scarville.
Lyle spent
his life in the education field as a teacher, principal, superintendent, and
county superintendent in Carroll, Iowa. He continued to be a life long learner,
utilizing new technologies. Lyle had a passion for aviation, was an avid sports
fan, and also enjoyed playing cards and solving crossword puzzles.
Left to cherish his memory include a son, Lee Tenold and his wife, Joyce of
Overland Park, Kansas; a daughter, Pamela Pettitt and her husband, Todd of Carroll,
Iowa; and a son, Guy Tenold and his wife, Julie of Perry, Iowa; eighteen
grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a special friend, Rose Kohl of Mesa,
Arizona; a brother-in-law, Dr. Howard Walker of Mobil, Alabama; as well as other
relatives and friends. Mr. Tenold was preceded in death by his
parents; and three sisters, Ordella Sandeno, Elaine Walker and in infancy, June Newana.

Leona E. (Schulz) Bartz

Leona
E. (Schulz) Bartz, 88, died on Tuesday, August 17, 2004, at the Good Samaritan
Center, St. Ansgar, Iowa.
Funeral services were held on Friday, August 20, at 11:00
a.m., at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Grafton, Iowa, with Rev. Wayne Ellingson and
Associate in Ministry Irmgard Ellingson officiating. Burial was in the
Grafton Cemetery. The Schroeder & Sites Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Leona E. Schulz, was born on December 31, 1915 in Faribault (Rice County), Minnesota, the
daughter of Herman and Margaret (Von Rath) Schulz. Leona was second youngest of
12 siblings. She was baptized and confirmed at the Trinity Lutheran Church,
Faribault and continued to have strong ties to her home church. Leona was joined
in marriage to Harold Bartz on June 26, 1949, in St. Paul, Minnesota. To this union two
sons were born, Dennis and Curtis. She and her husband farmed in the Grafton
area for many years. Harold passed away in August of 1983. Leona moved from her
farm home to Grafton in 1983 and lived there until Nov. of 2003, when she became
a resident of the Good Samaritan Center, St. Ansgar.
Leona had a lifetime gift for
making crafts, painting, ceramics, making dolls and genealogy. She enjoyed being
with people, playing cards and visiting. Her love for her family and friends
were evident by her sharing her gifts and abilities. Her strong faith and
worship at Emmanuel in Grafton helped her to cope with numerous tragedies and
illnesses throughout her life. Leona is survived by 3 sons,
Fred (Sylvia) Hardwick of Buela Vista, Arkansas, Dennis (Barb) Bartz of
Grafton and Curtis (Caren) Bartz of Grafton; 8 grandchildren, Deanna Blaha, Jason
Hardwick, Lora Rustad, Theresa Sietsema, Brian Bartz, Andrew Bartz, Courtney
Bartz and Caylee Bartz; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great
grandchildren; one sister-in-law; and many nieces and nephews. She will be sadly
missed by her family and many friends. She was preceded in
death by her parents; husband, Harold; son, George Hardwick; grandson, David
Hardwick; five brothers; and six sisters.

Stanley Palmer Knutson

Stanley
Palmer Knutson, 80, of rural Carpenter, died on Saturday, August 21, 2004, at
the
Albert Lea Medical Center, Albert Lea, Minnesota.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday,
August 24, at 1:30 p.m., at the Deer Creek Lutheran Church in Carpenter, with
Rev. Myrwood Bagne officiating. Burial was in the Deer Creek Cemetery.
Visitation was on Tuesday at the church. The Schroeder & Sites Funeral Home
was in
charge of the arrangements. Stanley was born
on May 27, 1924, the son
of Sever and Stella (Gordon) Knutson, at the family farm in Barton Township,
Worth County, Iowa, where he lived his entire life. He was baptized and
confirmed in the Lutheran faith by the Rev. Olaf Langehough at the Deer Creek
Lutheran Church, Carpenter. He received his public education at the Carpenter
school. Stan devoted his life to the work of the church; as Sunday School
Secretary for 15 years, and through the years singing in the choir, serving as
Financial Secretary, Church Treasurer, Church Custodian and the mowing of the
church lawn and cemetery. In recent years he served as Advisory Member of the
Cemetery Committee.
Stan was a farmer and also worked for several years as an
electrician. He enjoyed woodworking and making plates, bowls and candlesticks on
the turning lathe. His recent hobby was chip carving. He was an expert at
crossword puzzles and cryptaquote. He read a lot and always kept his mind busy
and also his hands. He is survived by his sister. Lola;
several cousins and friends. Stanley was preceded in death by
his parents.

1133rd’s Colby is
Area Loss
September 1, 2004
One soldier with Northwood ties made the ultimate
sacrifice last week. Spc. Dustin Colby, 20, was one of two killed in a
semi-tractor rollover accident on Friday morning. The accident occurred as
the semi-tractor overturned on a sharp embankment, trapping Colby and
Staff Sgt. Bruce J. Pollema of Hull, Iowa, inside the cab.
Colby was
born in Mason City and attended classes in Mason City and
Northwood-Kensett, before graduating from the Sandia High School in
Albuquerque, New Mexico. He returned to Clear Lake after graduation and
enlisted in the Iowa Army National Guard in 2002.
His father Jerry
Colby of Northwood, mother Misti Thoe and her husband, Lance of Clear
Lake, two brothers and four sisters survive Colby.

Dustin Scot Colby, 20, of Clear Lake, Iowa, died on Friday, August
27, 2004, in a semi-tractor rollover accident, near Camp Dodge.
A funeral service
will be on Wednesday, September 1, at 3:00 p.m., at the Iowa National Guard Armory, Mason City, with Chaplain Luder officiating. Visitation was
on Tuesday, from 3-8:00 p.m., at the Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, Clear Lake and one hour before the services on Wednesday at the Armory. Interment will be
in the Kensett Cemetery, with military honors by the Iowa National Guard.
Dustin was born on September 2, 1983 in Mason City, Iowa, the son of
Jerry Colby and Misti Slocum. He attended school in Mason City, Northwood and
then moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico, where he graduated from the Sandia High School in
2002. Dustin moved back to Clear Lake after high school and enlisted in the Iowa
Army National Guard. He was mobilizing to Ft. Sill, Oklahoma to serve in the Middle
East, Operation Iraqi Freedom. Dustin was well known for his favorite phrase
"Get Er Done".
He enjoyed riding motorcycles, jet skiing, water skiing, hunting,
fishing, rock climbing, downhill skiing and spending time with his family and
friends. He was a member of the Mason City Baptist Church and Iowa Army National
Guard.
Dustin will be sadly missed by his father, Jerry Colby
of
Northwood; mother, Misti Thoe and her husband, Lance of Clear Lake; two brothers,
Steven and Seth; four sisters, Miquela, Danielle, Megan and Nicole; step-mother,
Connie Colby of Albuquerque, New Mexico; maternal grandparents, Frank and Mary Lou Wood
of

He was preceded in death by his grandparents.

Timen J. Brunsvold, 94, of Northwood, died on Monday, August
30, 2004, at the Lutheran Retirement Home, Northwood.
Funeral services were held
on
Friday, September 3, 2004, at the Elk Creek Lutheran Church, Kensett, with Rev.
Allan Stoa officiating. Burial was in the Elk Creek Cemetery.
Timen was born on December 27, 1909 in Worth County, the tenth child of Ole S. and
Regina (Ellingson) Brunsvold. He was baptized and confirmed at the Elk Creek
Lutheran Church. He graduated from the Hanlontown High School in 1927. Timen married
Alyce Johnson on December 17, 1936, at the Parsonage in Kensett. He farmed all his
life in Worth County, before moving to Maple Court, Northwood in 2000.
Timen
served 30 years as a 4-H Leader and also worked at the Worth County Fair for
many years. He enjoyed bowling, playing cards and board games, as well as sports
of all kinds. He loved and cherished his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is survived by three sons, Ronald (Susan) of Topeka, Kansas, Jerry (Betty) of
Lake Mills and Arlee (Marcia) of Boone; ten grandchildren, Kirsti Brunsvold,
Robert Brunsvold, Corey Brunsvold, Thayne Brunsvold, Alan Brunsvold, Jane
Brunsvold, Julie Larson, Jody Brunsvold, Todd Brunsvold and Brad Brunsvold; five
great-grandchildren, Zachary, Brett and Jackson Brunsvold, Benjamin and Luke
Larson; one step-great-grandchild, Heather Eck; and three step-great-great-grandchildren.
Timen was preceded in death by his parents;
wife, Alyce; an infant son; one sister, Olga Jetson; eight brothers, Nels
Alfred, Nels Albert, Nels Melvin, Carl, Almer, Albert, Selmer and Ernest.
The
Schroeder & Sites Funeral Home, Northwood, was in charge of the arrangements.

Francis J. Ouverson, 83, of Hanlontown, died
on Tuesday, August 31,
2004, at his home in rural Hanlontown.
Funeral services were held
on Saturday, September 4,
at 11:00 a.m., at the Church of Christ in Fertile, with Rev. Curt Gallmeyer and Dr.
George Wilson officiating. Visitation was on Friday, September 3, from 5-8:00 p.m.,
at the funeral home and an hour prior to the service at the church. The Petersen Lund
Funeral Home, Forest City, was in charge of
the arrangements. Francis John Ouverson, the son of John and
Elizabeth (Robison) Ouverson, was born on July 21, 1921 at Fertile. He graduated
from the Fertile High School and farmed with his father and brother in the Fertile
area. On December 26, 1943, he married Olga Johnson at his parent's home in
Fertile. They lived all of their married life in rural Hanlontown where they
farmed.
Francis enjoyed his grandchildren, horses, fishing and gardening. His
top priority was being a faithful follower of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ
and sharing his faith with others, especially his family. He was a member of the
Harvest Time Church in Mason City. Francis is survived by
three children, Dr. Richard (Dr. Anna) Ouverson of Madison, South Dakota, Joyce (Leon)
Hagen of Hanlontown and Craig Ouverson of Hanlontown; five grandchildren, John
(Sara) Ouverson, Dr. William (Abbie) Ouverson, Christopher (Beth) Hagen, Eric
Hagen and Michael Hagen; two great-grandchildren, Lydia Ouverson and Nicholas
Ouverson; brother-in-law, Loris Scobee of Fertile; four sisters-in-law, Marian
(Ralph) Mulder of Slayton, Minnesota, Evelyn Johnson of Mason City, Elvira (Russell)
Olson of Cedar Rapids and Silence Johnson of Fertile; and many nieces and
nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife,
Olga on December 9, 2002; brother, Allen Ouverson; and sisters, Mavis Hall and Maxine Scobee.

Marvin Lee Anderson, passed away on Tuesday, August 31, 2004, at
the New Richland Care Center, New
Richland, Minnesota.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m.,
on Friday, September 3, at the Bayview/Freeborn
Funeral Home. Interment was in the London Cemetery.

Anderson, was born on June 22, 1924 in Albert Lea, Minnesota, to Martin and Clara (Hanson)
Anderson. Survivors include wife, Ila (Wahlers) Anderson;
children, Richard E. Anderson of Glenville, Shirley (Steve) Fingerson of
Rochester and Donna (Roe) Naylor of Brownsdale; granddaughter, Stephanie Fingerson; two step-children, Nichole Kielb and her daughter, Ann Marie and Zach Naylor.
