Woodbury, Minn. - Jerome W. Frampton, 80, of Woodbury, Minn., and formerly of Clear Lake, Iowa, died Thursday, Oct. 18, 2012, at the Hometown Senior Living in Woodbury, Minn.

A funeral service for Jerome will be held 11 a.m., Monday, Oct. 22, at the Clear Lake Evangelical Free Church, 1310 Highway 18 West, Clear Lake, with Pastor Dan Jordan and Pastor Terry Baxter officiating.
Burial will follow in the Clear Lake Cemetery with full military honors provided by the Clear Lake VFW Post 4868.

A visitation will be held from 9 to 11 a.m., Monday, Oct. 22, at the church.
The family suggests memorial contributions be donated to the Evangelical Free Church Mission Team.

Jerome Winfield Frampton, son of Hayes and Mary Jensen Frampton, was born Dec. 1, 1931, in Kirkman, Iowa. Jerome graduated from Kirkman High School in 1946 and furthered his education at the Minnesota School of Business in Minneapolis that qualified him to work in the state court system.

He was drafted into the Army and served over 17 months in Verdun, France, during the Korean Conflict, before being honorably discharged as a corporal.

On June 25, 1958, he was united in marriage to Rosella Mae "Sally" Frampton at Merrills Grove Baptist Church in Fiscus, Iowa. Two sons and two daughters were born to this union. They lived in Minneapolis, Minn., for two years, Waverly, Iowa, for 17 years, and Clear Lake, Iowa, for 35 years.

Jerome worked as a court reporter for 32 years in the Iowa District Court. At work he went by "Jerry."

Jerome devoted his life to his wife, family and to his faith in Jesus Christ. Together Jerome and Sally shared many special vacations in Colorado. Through gardening, church activities, community volunteering, and work in the Iowa court system, he touched the lives of many people.

Jerome loved being with people, had a great sense of humor, and was active in the community. Some of his past gardening interests follow: president- elect, vice president, treasurer, national director, and life member of TGOA/MGCI (The Gardeners Of America and Men's Garden Clubs of America); member of Central Gardeners of North Iowa, East Valley Garden Club of Mesa (Arizona), Ventura Garden Club of Ventura (Iowa), Federated Garden Clubs of America, Iowa State Horticulture Society; President and secretary of North Iowa Garden Club of Mason City, Iowa; Certified Master Gardener and served frequently as a horticulture judge for fairs and other competitions.

He also served as a volunteer for Hospice of North Iowa. Jerome was active in his community working for the Red Cross and was the Master Gardener for Harmony Ranch (a ranch for mentally disabled children) in Clear Lake, Iowa.

Residents of Clear Lake and Mason City will remember Jerome and his tent at the Saturday morning farmers market selling tomatoes, hot chili peppers, and whatever was in season.
Jerome was interested in genealogy of the Frampton name. He is a decedent of William Frampton who was the first Frampton to arrive in America and lived in New York and Philadelphia between 1678 and 1686. William Frampton was a member of William Penn's first Provincial Council. William Frampton started the first brewery, with financing from Penn, in Philadelphia along with a bakery.

Greeting Jerome in heaven is his beloved wife Rosella (Sally). Also, preceding him in death were his parents and siblings Lowell, Emerson and Lotus.

Ronald F. Hackbarth

DOWS - Ronald F. Hackbarth, age 77, of Houston, Texas, and long-time resident of Dows, Iowa, passed away Tuesday Oct. 16, 2012, in Houston.

Funeral services for Ronald F. Hackbarth will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 22, at the Morgan United Methodist Church east of Dows. Pastor Judy Eilder will officiate. Burial will be in the Morgan United Methodist Church cemetery.

Visitation for Ronald F. Hackbarth will be from 10 a.m. until service time Monday at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of the Dugger Funeral Home, 100 N. Lee Street in Dows.

Ronald Frank, the son of Harold and Clara Williams Hackbarth, was born April 29, 1935, near Dows in Morgan Township. He attended country schools and Dows High School where he graduated in 1953. Ronald then attended William Penn in Oskaloosa and Iowa Wesleyan in Mount Pleasant. He graduated from Iowa Wesleyan with a bachelor's degree in education. While in college, Ron was a member of the Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity and played in three sports. He excelled in football and baseball and played for AAA baseball clubs for a time.

Ronald was united in marriage to Marianna Wright on Dec. 27, 1956, in Mount Pleasant. Ron began his career as an educator and coach. Ronald taught and coached in Montour, Baxter, Bloomfield and Washington. Ronald earned a master's degree in education from Northeast Missouri State, and second master's degree and EDS from the University of Iowa. He continued as an educator for 33 years. Ron worked as a principle and as the assistant superintendent of schools in Washington.

Ron had a very natural ability to relate with kids. His winning smile, blue eyes and wonderful dimples made him a popular and respected teacher, administrator and coach. After being diagnosed with M.S., Ronald was forced to take an early retirement in 1989. The couple moved to Texas, where they lived in Fort Worth until 1996, then moved to Houston.

Ron and Marianna were blessed with two children, Steven and Teresa. His family fondly remember how his educational abilities influenced the household growing up. Devoted parents, Ron and Marianna followed and encouraged Steven and Teresa in all their activities. Vacations were always meticulously planned around achieving the goal of traveling to all 48 states, which was accomplished.

Although Ron had M.S., he never let his illness slow him down. Living 34 years with the illness, he beat many odds. After his children had grown and started their own families, Ron's life revolved around following their families' lives in Colorado, Iowa and Texas, all the while fighting his disability.

Ron was baptized and confirmed at the Morgan United Methodist Church, and membership in the United Methodist Church followed him throughout his life. Ron served on the Iowa School Administrators, Lions Club and M.S. Society.
