Lynn W. Greiman
MASON CITY — Lynn W. Greiman, 59, of 1600 10th St. S.E. in Mason City and formerly of Garner and Clear Lake, died early Thursday morning (May 10, 2007) at the Muse-Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 12, at Fullerton Funeral Home, 123 Second St. S.E. in Mason City, with the Rev. Edward Bard officiating. Interment will be in the Concord Cemetery, Garner.

Thoughts, condolences and stories may be e-mailed to the family on the www.fullertonfh.com Web site.
Lynn Wilson Greiman was born Nov. 22, 1947, in Waterloo, the son of Florence Irene (Baker) and Wilson Benjamin Greiman. In 1951, he and his family moved from Waterloo to Garner, where he attended school. In 1959, at the age of 12, Lynn won a trophy, a trip to Chicago and the bragging rights as the “Champion of Sales” in a contest for Globe Gazette carriers. He graduated in 1966 from Garner High School.
Lynn furthered his education, attending NIACC for one year and Kirkwood College in Cedar Rapids for two years, attaining an associate of implied science mechanical engineering technology degree in May 1982. He was employed at Alexander Manufacturing in Mason City as a project designer. Due to complications of multiple sclerosis, Lynn was no longer able to work. His main “connection to the world” became his computer, which he was extremely proficient.
Some of Lynn’s interests included writing poetry, engaging in philosophical discussions, assisting various band groups with sound system set-ups and listening to music. He was a “Star Trek” fan and found great accomplishment and pride in designing and building a variety of technical projects, including a robot.
Lynn’s family describe him as a very intelligent man who made friends easily! He deeply cared for his sisters and their families and openly professed his devotion to his faith and the care and concern his sisters gave him. Lynn was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Mason City.
Left to cherish Lynn’s life are his two sisters, Marjorie and Richard Koolbeck of Cedar Rapids and Shirley and Roland Pals, of Duncanville, Texas; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends who will also dearly miss him.
Preceding Lynn in death are his parents, Wilson and Florence Greiman; and his brother, Jerald Greiman.

Robert ‘Bob’ Dale Pixley
NORTHWOOD — Robert (Bob) Dale Pixley, 78, of Northwood, passed away Sunday (May 13, 2007) at the Good Shepherd Care Center, Mason City, after suffering a stroke.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 16, 2007, at the First Lutheran Church, 309 N. Ninth St. in Northwood, with the Rev. Daniel R. Hart, officiating. Burial will be at the State Line Cemetery, Northwood.
Visitation will be held from 5 until 7 p.m. today, at the Conner Colonial Chapel, 1008 First Ave. S., Northwood. Visitation will also be held one hour prior to service time on Wednesday at the church.
Bob Pixley was born on Feb. 9, 1929, on the Pixley family farm north of Northwood, the youngest child of Glenn and Beva (Godfrey) Pixley. His great-grandfather was Will Dixon, one of the first settlers in Worth County. Bob was baptized on June 12, 1938, at the First Methodist Church, Northwood and joined the First Lutheran Church, Northwood in June of 1948.
Growing up a farm boy, Bob spoke of swimming in the river behind his home, helping out with chores, and family picnics with his many cousins. Bob and his horse Duchess were active in the Worth County Saddle Club into his early adulthood.
In high school, Bob played basketball and football. He graduated with the Northwood Class of 1947.
Bob was a devoted husband to his high school sweetheart, Verna Mae McHenry. They were married on June 15, 1947, and except for a few years they were lifelong residents of Northwood. Together Bob and Verna Mae raised four children: Steven, Susan, Beverly, and Bruce.
Bob had a kind generous spirit, was quick to forgive and forget and will forever be the best hugger of our family. Every child was automatically drawn to him — especially his grandchildren. We think he got so sweet from eating all those cookies.
Bob held various jobs in the community during his life, working for area businesses where his gentle nature endeared him to many. Anyone who met him became his friend, and he would show genuine interest in them and always remember their name.
In 1961, Bob and Verna Mae purchased Pixley’s East End Market in Osage. They ran the friendliest grocery stand in town for several years before returning to Northwood in 1968.
Bob farmed and worked for Boyd Implement until 1971, when he took over the Pixley Furniture Repair business established by his father. Woodworking became his passion. Many handcrafted memories remain with each one of us. Some are displayed at the Worth County Historical Society.
Bob was dearly loved and will be sadly missed by his mother, Beva Pixley, Northwood; his children, Steven (Julie) Pixley, Harpers Ferry, Susan (Larry) Balek, Mason City, Bev Pixley, McKinleyville, Calif., Bruce (Grace) Pixley, Grafton; his grandchildren: Samuel Pixley, Portland, Ore., Lezlea (Chris) Dahlke, Winona, Minn., Katie Pixley, McKinleyville, Calif., Jackson Pixley, of McKinleyville, Calif., Andria Pixley, Northwood, Jay (Lauren) Balek, Waverly, Kyle Pixley, Grafton, Jeff Balek, Mason City and Marcus Pixley, of Harpers Ferry; his greatgrandchildren: Caroline Dahlke, Ava Dahlke, Sawyer Pixley and Baby Pixley, due in the fall; sisters-in-law, Lillian Pixley and Virginia Thompson; brother-in-law, Arlynn (Ruth) McHenry; and Aunt Margaret Godfrey, all of Northwood; and many other relatives and friends.
Bob was preceded in death by his wife, Verna Mae, in March 2006; his father, Glenn; brother, John; and many loved ones.
