Clate and Jen had three daughters: Lynn, Donna and Robin. After the service, Clate worked for ARCO oil company during the day and was your perfect neighborhood construction man in the evenings — perfect since he always made sure he cleaned up after doing a job.

In 1972 he was transferred to Los Angeles, which was an opportunity to spend the next eight years with his sister, Mardie, who lived in California since the war.

Clate loved to golf and bowl but mostly enjoyed spending time with his family. After Jen died, Clate moved to Iowa and purchased a little home in Northwood. He made many new friends and spent time with his grandchildren and his loyal companion, his great dog, Babe.

He was very fortunate to make a special and very caring friend, Annie. Clate and Annie were always going somewhere and especially enjoyed going out to eat and then to the bowling alley. Annie was a true lifeline for Clate in the last couple of years and Clate’s family is very grateful for her help and love.

Left to cherish his memory are his children, Lynn McGee of Aston, Pa., Donna Braccille and her husband, Jim, of Mt. Laurel, N.J., Robin Nodtvedt and her great friend, Ellert, of Northwood; grandchildren, Lisa, Paige and Jimmy Joe Braccille, Megan, Amy and Eddie McGee, Morgan and Brooke Nodtvedt; five great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
