RENA HUEY

HIGHLAND SQUARE, Ohio — The world was diminished Oct. 12, 2003 with the sudden death of Rena Huey. She was one of a kind.

Rena had boundless energy that bubbled from a diminutive frame almost too small to hold her joy. She could sing and dance, and she could fix anything, be it a car or a computer. She had a temper to match her fiery red hair, and her nickname of the “Red Tornado” was honestly earned.

She adored her husband, Doug, and four children, Joshua, Megan, Jonathan and Rachel, ages 5 to 15, whom she home schooled.

She nurtured and took care of everybody — even her more than 2,200 West Side Leader delivery customers in Bath, Fairlawn, Peninsula and Boston — that was her nature.

She will be sorely missed by all who knew her.

A memorial celebration of the life and legacy of Rena will take place Nov. 2 at 1:30 p.m. at Cornerstone Chapel, 3939 Granger Road in Medina, Ohio.

Her friends have set up the Rena Huey Memorial Fund at any FirstMerit Bank branch. For more information, call Adams-Mason Memorial (330) 535-9186.

Friends may call directly at the church from 12:30 p.m. until time of services on Monday.

It's nice to think about the special relationship we had - how we shared so many experiences, how we accepted each other as we were and could talk about our thoughts and feelings easily. How through the years we became closer and closer. Having you for a grandpa was wonderful because you were also our friend.

Memories of a "Special" Father: No one was ever a stranger; he was friend to all. He was there when I needed him - he took me by the hand and guided me. When I was afraid, he protected me. He was a provider, for I never went hungry. He was a handy man because there was little he couldn't do. When I was troubled he listened patiently. He showed me happiness, kindness, peace, understanding, forgiveness, prayer, obedience and discipline, but most of all he showed me love. I will miss you...Cheryll.
