SHEFFIELD - Ione Mae Lage, 90, died Saturday (Sept. 29, 2001) at Sheffield Care Center.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church, Sheffield, with the Rev. Clifford Bevins officiating. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery, Sheffield.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Garry-Roberts-Murphy-Schaaf-Grarup Funeral Home, Sheffield.

Ione Mae (Heidkross) Lage was born Sept. 10, 1911, on the family farm in rural Sheffield, a daughter of John and Etta (Froning) Heidkross. She attended Pleasant Valley Township country school and Swaledale High School. She then attended Hamilton Business College in Mason City.

While working at the Latimer State Bank, Ione met Max Lage. They were united in marriage Feb. 25, 1937, in the parsonage of the First Baptist Church in Mason City. They made their home on the farm Ione was born on and lived there until 1997.

Ione was a life-time member of the First Baptist Church of Sheffield and a member of the Faith Circle and the Philathea Class. She devoted her life to her home and family. She was known as the Cookie Grandma for special chocolate chip cookies. She also raised strawberries and enjoyed her vegetable garden and fruit trees.

Ione is survived by her husband of 64 years, Max Lage, Sheffield; two sons, John Lage and his wife, Meta, Sheffield, and Dr. Gerald Lage and his wife, Colleen, Stillwater, Okla.; and four grandchildren, Michael Lage and his wife, Diana, and their children, Brandon and Tyler, Sheffield, Mark Lage and his wife, Pamela, and their children, Ryan and Jacob, Sheffield, Brian Lage, Gladbrook, Iowa, and Andrea Lage and her husband, Christopher Woltemade, Shippensburg, Pa.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Lou and Eleanor.

MASON CITY-Arlan L. Haar, 44, formerly of New Hampton and Waverly, died Tuesday (Sept. 25, 2001) at his home in Mason City.

Celebration of Life services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home, 218 Second St. S.E., Waverly. Burial will be in the Harlington Cemetery, Waverly.

FOREST CITY - Lila Heyer, 79, died Saturday (Sept. 29, 2001) at Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City.

HENRY R. FLATNESS

MASON CITY - Henry R. Flatness, 94, of 1315 Third St. N.W., died Friday (Sept. 28, 2001) at Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa, Mason City.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Trinity Lutheran Church, 213 N. Pennsylvania Ave., Mason City, with the Rev. James M. Magelssen officiating. Interment will be Elmwood/St. Joseph Cemetery, Mason City.

Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave., Mason City.

Memorials may be directed to the Henry R. Flatness Memorial Fund.

Henry was born April 15, 1907, in Worth County , Iowa, the son of Martin and Anna (Peterson) Flatness. In 1928 he moved to Mason City.

Henry worked 44 years for Jacob E. Decker and Sons Meat Packing Plant, retiring in 1973.

He married Alpha Aamodt Sept. 5, 1928. She died in March of 1976.

Henry was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Senior Chamber of Commerce, Senior Citizens and a former member of Sons of Norway.

He is survived by one son, Ronald H. Flatness and his wife, Ragna, of Mason City; a daughter, DeLoris Low and her husband, Allen, of Northwood; a stepson, John Rodas and his wife, Nora, of Arlington, Va.; grandchildren, Mark Flatness and his wife, Josie, of Norwalk, Iowa, Bruce Flatness and his wife, Lori, of Scottsdale, Ariz., Charlie Flatness and his wife, Ann, of Ankeny, Dan Low of Northwood, Keith Low and his wife, June, of Northwood, Patty Rodas of Arlington, Va., and John Rodas Jr. of Arlington, Va.; 12 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Henry was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Alpha; six brothers; two sisters; and one grandson in infancy.

MILDRED C. KOENIGSFELD

CHARLES CITY - Mildred C. Koenigsfeld, 87, formerly of 211 15th Ave., died Sunday (Sept. 30, 2001) at the Colonial Manor in Elma.

A Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with the Monsignor Stanley J. Hayek officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Charles City.

Visitation will be held from 2 to 8 p.m. today at the Fullerton Hage Fumeral Home, 401 Blunt St. in Charles City, with a rosary led by St. Jude Circle at 3 p.m. and a scripture wake service led by Sister Jennifer Rausch at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour prior to services on Wednesday at the church.

VICTOR NEHLS

OSAGE - Victor Nehls, 82, died Monday (Oct. 1, 2001) at Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa in Mason City.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home, 702 State St., Osage, with the Rev. Philip Recker of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Osage officiating. Interment will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery, Osage.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Victor was born on Nov. 17, 1918, near Marble Rock in Floyd County, the son of Arthur and Anna (Reis) Nehls.

He married Lorraine Cary in 1940, and they lived near Charles City, later moving to Osage. Lorraine died in 1977.

Later he married Katherine (Matheson) Jeffries in 1980, and they lived in Osage. Katherine died in 1992.

Victor operated the Monarch Feed Mill in Osage. He later worked for L. R. Falk Construction in St. Ansgar until his retirement.

Victor enjoyed hunting and fishing, and he was an avid sports fan, following Osage High School, the Minnesota Vikings and the Iowa Hawkeyes.

He is survived by son, Gary Nehls and his wife, Linda, of Shawnee, Kan., and his children, Tara Walker and her children, Chelsea and Logan, and Christopher Nehls and his son, Matthew, and his
son, Michael Nehls of Osage and his children, Timothy and Hope; a stepson, Rex Jeffries of Omaha, Neb.; one sister, Dorothy Wright of Charles City; one brother, Clair Nehls of Charles City; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Victor was preceded in death by his parents; two wives, Lorraine and Katherine; and one brother, Raymond Nehls.

DON G. WILLETT

MASON CITY - Don G.Willett, 86, of 40 Winnebago Court, died Sunday (Sept. 30, 2001) at the Heritage Care Center.

His memorial services will be held at 3 p.m. on Wednesday at the Presbyterian Church, 201 Willowbrook Dr. with the Rev. Terry Hamilton-Poore officiating.

Private family services will be held prior to services at Memorial Park Cemetery.

Don was born on June 19, 1915, in White, S. D., the son of William G. and Maude (Sergeant) Willett. When he was three, the family moved to Rudd, Iowa. He received his education there, graduating from Rudd High School in 1932.

He participated in 4-H and showed a champion Jersey calf at the National Dairy Cattle Congress. He graduated from Iowa State University with a degree in Dairy Industry in June 1941.

Having participated in ROTC, he was called to active duty in the Army in July, 1941.

On Oct. 10, 1942, Don married Margery Wolf in Central City, Neb. To this union were born two daughters and three sons.

In January of 1942, Don was assigned to the 12th Field Artillery Battalion of the Second Infantry Division at Fort Sam Houston, San Antonio, Texas. He was proud to have served with this "Second-to-None" Division through World War II. Landing at Omaha Beach, D+4, he commanded an ammunition "train" through France, Belgium, Germany and Czechoslovakia.

He was discharged from active duty in October of 1945, but he completed 20 years of service in the Reserve forces.

Don was employed by Krebs Dairy and Borden in Cedar Rapids, manufacturing ice cream. In March 1957 he began work in quality control at State Brand Creameries in Mason City and, then, AMPI, retiring in 1975. The following eight years he was an inspector part-time for the USDA.

He enjoyed Mohawk baseball, football and wrestling. He watched college football also. The Vikings were a favorite pro-team. He was active with Little League and Boy Scouts while his sons participated. He liked gardening, fishing and visiting with family and friends especially relating stories of his wartime experience.

Don was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Mason City, a life member of the Reserve Officers Association, a member of the Retired Officers Association, the Second "Indianhead" Division Association as well as the Iowa Hanford MacNider chapter of that association.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Margery; daughters, Linda Meetz and husband, Michael, of Ames, and Sandra Shiver, of Sherman, Texas; sons, Bruce Willett of Fairfield, Douglas Willett, of Fairfield, and Thomas Willett, of Mason City; granddaughter, Macy Wilson, of Dallas, Texas; sisters-in-law, Jane Jones, of Austin, Texas, Barbara Ayres and husband, Sam, of South St. Paul, Minn.; many nieces and nephews; special friend, Donald Roberts, of Lincoln, Neb.

Preceding him in death were his parents; and parents-in law, Paul and Florence Wolf.

Jeanyce married Wayne F. Rathmann on April 6, 1957, in Mason City. She was a member of First United Methodist Church where she played in the Bell Choir, Lioness Club and enjoyed camping, square dancing and spending time with her family and friends.

She is survived by her husband, Wayne F. Rathmann, of Mason City ; two daughters, Kay L. Schade, of Mason City, and Lea A. Baker and husband, Christopher D., of Mason City; two granddaughters, Brittany L. and Sydney C. Baker; mother, Opal Ruth Johnson, of Mason City; and aunt, Dorothy Thompson of Rockwell.

Jeanyce was preceded in death by her father.

A funeral service is tentatively scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday (Oct. 6, 2001) at Hogan Bremer Colonial Chapel, 126 Third St. N.E. on Mason City. Interment will follow at Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery.

ASHLEY PEARL CHODUR

PARACHUTE, Colo. - Ashley Pearl Chodur, 16, of Parachute, Colo. after a tragic accident near De Beque, Colo.

Memorial services were held on Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2001 at Open Bible Fellowship Building in De Beque, Colo. with the Rev. Greg Kline officiating.

Callahan-Edfast Mortuary in Grand Junction, Colo. was in charge of arrangements.

Ashley was born Sept. 6, 1985 in Charles City, the daughter of Michael Scott Chodur and Dandi Lynn (Menholt) Anderson.

She was a honor student at De Beque High School where she was a friend to all who met her.

She is survived by her father, Michael Chodur, of Kensett; mother, Dandi Lynn (Menholt) Anderson, of Parachute, Colo.; a brother, Kody Chodur, of Parachute, Colo.; aunts, Deb Suhr, of Waunakee, Wis., DarCi Hoeltzner, of Mitchell, S.D., Marj Ross, of Garner, Karen Thompson, of Osseo, Wis., Joan McCormick, of Mason City, and Tami Thilges, of LaCrosse, Wis.; uncles, Dustin Menholt, of Decatur, Mich., Larry Chodur, of Osage, and Richard Chodur, of Joice; grandparents, Robert Menholt, of Decatur, Mich. and Donald and Gloria Chodur, of Kensett.

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandmother, Pearl Menholt.

 



GENA JOSEPHINE BAKKEN

NORTHWOOD - Gena Josephine Bakken, 98, of Northwood, died Monday (Oct. 1, 2001) at the Lutheran Retirement Home in Northwood.

Her funeral will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday at the First Lutheran Church, 309 N. Ninth St. in Northwood, with the Rev.Paul Holmer officiating. Burial will be in the Sunset Rest Cemetery in Northwood.

Visitation will be one hour prior to service time on Friday at the church.

The family of Gena Josephine Bakken has requested that memorial contributions be made to First Lutheran Church or to the American Bible Society in her memory.

Conner Colonial Chapel of Northwood is in charge of the services.

Gena Josephine Bakken was born on May 6, 1903, at Northwood, the only American born member of the Ole J. and Marie (Talle) Bakken family. She was baptized by the Rev. O.G.U. Siljan at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Northwood, and reaffirmed the faith of her baptism through confirmation on May 20, 1917, by the Rev. Hans Fosnes. She attended and received her education in the Northwood School system, graduating from Northwood High School in 1921.

She taught in Silver Lake No. 1 for two years. A Normal Training class trained her for this. In 1925, she graduated from the Lutheran Bible Institute in St. Paul, Minn. On the basis of this training, she became a parish worker for the Rev. T.F. Gullixson; she also was a parish worker for the Rev. Elmer S. Hjortland at Eau Claire, Wis., at Grace Lutheran Church. She was also a parish worker in Minot, N.D.

In 1930, she went back to rural school teaching for three years at Deer Creek No. 6. The following two years, she stayed at home to help her ailing parents. Her mother died during this time.

She taught in Grove No. 1 in 1936, and also taught in Silver Lake No. 1, for another three years. From 1936 to 1943, she attended the University of Minnesota from which she graduated in June of 1943, with majors in English and Library Science. Her library experience was in the North Dakota State Library Commission in Bismarck, N.D., Rochester Public Library and the Alexandria, Minn. Public Library where she was the City Librarian for 16 years. She remained in Alexandria until she decided to move back to Northwood in April 1980.

She had her church membership transferred to wherever she lived and was active in teaching Sunday school, Bible classes and headed organizations such as Luther League, Lutheran Daughters of the Reformation, circles and Ladies Aid. She also belonged to professional organizations such as the teacher's organization, the American Library Association, and kept her membership in the Rochester Branch of the American Association of University Women.

She was a member of First Lutheran Church in Northwood, and sang in the church choirs in Northwood and Minot.

Left to cherish her memory are nephews and nieces, Howard Bakken,of Plymouth, Mary (Mrs. Paul) Nystuen, of Northfield, Minn., Arlene Ludwig of Oakland, Calif., Jeanette (Mrs. Bud ) Chambers of Grand Forks, N.D., Beverly (Mrs. Don) Ray of Mesa, Ariz., Glenn Bye, of St. Paul, Minn., and Karl Bakken, of San Diego, Calif.; as well as other relatives and friends.

Her parents, her four sisters, Gertrude, Juliane, Grace, Anna and her three brothers, John, Ole and Harold preceded her in death.

RUBY R. MORSE

MASON CITY - Ruby R. Morse, 92, of 1037 19th St. S.W., died Monday (Oct. 1, 2001) at IOOF Home in Mason City.

Her graveside services will be held 2 p.m. on Thursday at Memorial Park Cemetery, U.S. Highway 122 in Mason City, with Pastor Will Hunsaker officiating.

There will be no public visitation. Hogan-Bremer Colonial Chapel, 126 Third St. N.E. is handling arrangements.

Memorials in Ruby's memory may be given to American Red Cross, to aid victims of the recent events in New York City.

Ruby was born April 17, 1909, at Earlham, a daughter of William and Jennie (Inman) Pope. She attended rural schools near Earlham.

A resident of Mason City since 1920, Ruby worked at the former S.S. Kresge store in Mason City for over 25 years.

She especially loved to crochet, read, bake, and work with ceramics.

She is survived by, one daughter, Francis Miskiminis, of Casper, Wyo.; two sons, Roger Morse and his wife, Kathryn, of Mason City; and Gordon Morse and his wife, Betty, of Mason City; 11 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.

LOUISE CAROLINE BEHN

HAMPTON - Louise Caroline (Pralle) Behn, 90, of Hampton, died Tuesday (Oct. 2, 2001) at the Franklin General Nursing Facility in Hampton.

Her funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Hampton, with the Rev. Kenneth Krueger officiating. Burial will be in the Trinity Lutheran Church Cemetery in rural Hampton.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. today at the Sietsema Vogel Funeral Home in Hampton.

Louise Caroline (Pralle) Behn was born Feb. 2, 1911, in rural Latimer to Henry and Caroline (Phielop) Pralle.

She was baptized at home and confirmed on April 13, 1924, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Latimer.

Louise received her education in Marion Township rural school.

On Feb. 9, 1935, she and Erwin W. Behn were married at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Latimer.

They were lifelong residents of Franklin County and farmed their entire married life.

Louise was a homemaker and mother. Her family, neighbors and friends were an important part of her life. She loved gardening, caring for flowers, writing letters, working word puzzles, crocheting afghans and making scrap books.

Following Erwin's death, Louise continued to live on the farm until suffering a stroke in 1996. Since that time she had received nursing home care at Franklin General Nursing Facility in Hampton.

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Lutheran Women's Missionary League and her neighborhood Friendship Club.

She is survived by three daughters, Arliss (Mrs. Floyd) Greimann of Sheffield, Myrna Behn of Forest City, and Rozann Herwig of Hampton; a sister, Leona Jorgensen of Coulter; five grandchildren, Gordon and Larry Greimann, Michael, Matthew and Meghan Weir; two stepgrandchildren, Keith Herwig and Janis Heiss; three great-grandchildren, Taylor and Zachary Greimann and Kristiana Weir; and two stepgreat-grandchildren, Jena and Justin Hess.

Louise was preceded in death by her parents; her husband on July 14, 1983; her daughter, Carla Weir on Sept. 20, 1994; four sisters, Clara, Alvina, Edna and Dora; four brothers, William, Herman, Louis and Edward; and one half brother, Harry.

IRENE E. LICHTSINN

LAS VEGAS, Nev. - Irene E. Lichtsinn, 82, of Las Vegas, Nev., formerly of Mason City, passed away on Friday (Sept. 28, 2001) at Desert Springs Hospital in Las Vegas, Nev. According to her wishes the body was cremated, with Hites Funeral Home of Las Vegas in charge.

Memorial services will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 1001 Ninth Ave S., Clear Lake, with Monsignor Robert G. Hogan officiating. Burial will be at Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery in Mason City.

Irene was born on Nov. 1, 1918, at Rockford, the daughter of George and Elsie (Huxol) Paulus. On May 14, 1938, Irene was united in marriage to William Lichtsinn. They had one son, Ronald.

Irene was formerly employed by Mode O' Day and later Risto Inc. in Mason City. Upon retirement she and Bill enjoyed many winters in Las Vegas before moving there in 1989. She spent much of her free time playing bingo.

She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Bill Lichtsinn; son, Ron and Ruth Lichtsinn, of Clear Lake; four grandchildren, Robert Lichtsinn of Kanas City, Mo., Christine (Mrs. Jon) Hanna of Tulsa, Okla., Holly (Mrs. Bruce) Cammers of Mason City, and Ron II (Hope) Lichtsinn of Maple Grove, Minn.; three stepchildren, Annette (Mrs. Michael) Thompson of Des Moines, David (Teresa) Janssen of Mason City, and Kay (Mrs. Scott) Grein of Sioux Falls, S.D.; five great-grandchildren; and five stepgreat-grandchildren; half brothers, Raymond Paulus of Santa Ana, Calif., and Louis Paulus of Las Vegas, Nev.

Preceding her in death were her parents, stepmother and brother, Harold Paulus.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a memorial to the American Diabetes Association in her memory.

Visitation will be held from 3 to 9 p.m. today at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Alta Vista, with a 4 p.m. rosary and a 7 p.m. Scripture service.

DOROTHY H. MARTIN

AMES - Dorothy H. Martin, 79, of Ames, formerly of Mason City, died Saturday (Sept. 29, 2001) at Mary Greeley Hospital in Ames.

Her funeral will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday at Hogan Bremer Colonial Chapel, 126 Third St. N. E., Mason City, with Mr. Bruce Greene officiating. Interment will follow at Elmwood St. Joseph Cemetery.

Dorothy was born Sept. 13, 1922, in Cerro Gordo County, the daughter of Raymond R. and Margaret H. (Butcher) Snyder. She grew up in Cerro Gordo County and graduated from Rockwell-Swaledale High School.

She worked as a nurse's aid at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital for a short time, until her marriage to Arthur W. Martin on March 20, 1943, in Bethany, Mo.

The couple lived in Illinois, Kansas and northern Iowa. Dorothy was a devoted homemaker who lived a good part of her life in Cerro Gordo County. The past several years she has lived in both Oklahoma and Ames.

Dorothy enjoyed gardening, cooking, reading and studying her Bible. The center of her life was taking care of her family.

Dorothy will be greatly missed by three sons, Garold Martin of Ames, Lawrence Martin and his wife, Linda, of Silver City, N.M., and Rolland Martin of Santa Cruz, Calif., three daughters, Joy McNutt and her husband, Gary, of Edmond, Okla., Glori Martin and her husband, Glenn Petersen, of Belfair, Wash., and June Black and her husband, David, of Story City; one sister, Audrey Haag and her husband, Harvey, of Mason City; 10 grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Arthur, in 1976; and one brother, Ralph Snyder.

OSAGE - Ruth E. Conklin, 84, of Osage, died Tuesday (Oct. 2, 2001) at the Mitchell County Regional Health Center in the Hospice Inpatient Unit in Osage.

Her memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, 833 Ash St., Osage, with the Rev. Dennis Hanson and the Rev. Roy Ott officiating. A private family interment will occur on Saturday morning at the Osage Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage, where the family will greet friends.

Ruth Ellen Cordes Conklin was born on March 13, 1917, in Osage to Albert and Ellen (Thompson) Cordes. She graduated from Osage High School in 1934. She then attended Gates Business College in Waterloo and graduated in 1936.

After graduation she worked at the Home Trust and Savings Bank for 20 years until retirement.

She was a past member of the National Association of Bank Women. Ruth was married to Jack M. Conklin on Sept. 22, 1940, in Osage. They recently celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her sisters, Mrs. Bert (Katherine) Pasco and Mrs. Bill (Dorothy) Gilles.

Survivors include her husband, Jack; one daughter, Mrs. Bill (Ellen) Trammell of Osage; one granddaughter, Mrs. David (Tanya) Womeldorf of Lakeville, Minn.; one great-granddaughter, Samantha Womeldorf, also of Lakeville.

Derick Alan Wharton was born Sept. 19, 1995, at the Floyd County Memorial Hospital in Charles City, and died Tuesday (Oct. 2, 2001) at the Floyd County Memorial Hospital in Charles City from injuries suffered in a school bus accident in Marble Rock.

He attended the Rainbow Pre-school in Rudd and was currently attending kindergarten at the R-R-MR Elementary School in Rockford. He was baptized Sept. 21, 1997, at St. Mary's Catholic Church of Roseville.

Derick was the delight of his parents, sisters, grandparents and other relatives, and he returned their love in many special ways. His family cherishes the memories of shared activities with him and remembering the things Derick enjoyed.

He liked cutting out sugar cookies with his Mom and decorating them fresh out of the oven. He enjoyed mudding with his Dad and helping him in the garage. He loved his sisters and grandmas and grandpas.

He was happy riding in Grandpa's semi, and he watered Grandma's flowers every day. His cousin Jackson was his special friend. Derick enjoyed school and his teachers and friends there.

Some of the things Derick liked doing were riding his bike, playing with the Lincoln Logs that he received three days before his death, and watching rodeo events. He dreamed of being a horse rider. He liked Canadian bacon pizza and Red Mountain Dew. Derick enjoyed monster trucks, Scooby Doo, coloring, the computer and video games.

Derick was the beloved son of Rick and Julie (Green) Wharton; brother of Destiny and Grace Wharton, all of Marble Rock; maternal grandparents, Gary Green, of Rudd, Robert and Connie Engels-Wiegmann, of Marble Rock; paternal grandparents are Rick and Betty Wharton, of Bristow; maternal great-grandparents, Mabel Green, of Rudd, and John and Maxine Engels, of Rockford; maternal great-great-grandmother, Belva Green, of Charles City. Derick is also survived by his aunts and uncles, Bob and Laurie Green, of Rudd, Jennifer Green, of Marble Rock, Jamie and Jacque Bushbaum, of Marble Rock, Jeremiah and Joanne Miller, of Marble Rock, Dianne Brandau, of Marble Rock, Nick Wiegmann and Sarah Paulus, of New Hampton, Michael and Logan Wiegmann, of Marble Rock.

He was preceded in death by his maternal great-grandfather, Lloyal Green; paternal great-grandparents, Bill and Joyce LaRue; great-aunt, Janet Engels; and cousin, Barbara Ann Engels.

CHARLES W. STEIMLOSK

BELMOND - Charles W. Steimlosk, 80, a former resident of Clear Lake and long-time resident of the Belmond Health Care Center, died Monday (Oct.1, 2001) at the health care center in Belmond.

Charles Steimlosk was born Dec. 7, 1920, in Trenton, Mich., the son of Peter F. and Alice (Giddens) Steimlosk.

During World War II, Charles served in the United States Army 9th Infantry Division in France and Germany. He served from December 1943 until July 1946. He was honorably discharged as a Technician 5th Grade. Charles participated in the Battle of the Hurtgen Forest. France awarded him the Liberty Medal for the Normandy Invasion. He had received various other medals during his military service.

Mr. Steimlosk was a master electrician and member of the IBEW, Local 58 in Detroit for more than 50 years. Charles was an avid golfer and fisherman.

Left to cherish the memory of his life are his wife of 34 years, Adeline Steimlosk of Kokomo, Ind. She had been a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Belmond for a number of years. Also left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Hazel Bimer of West Bloomfield, Mich., and Sheila Perl of Toronto, Canada; his son, Charles, of Traverse City, Mich.; his step-children, John Hannula of Atlanta, Ga., Thomas Hannula of Logansville, Ga., Kay Rehkopf of Kokomo, Ind. and Jane Hannula, of Atascadero, Calif. Charles was also blessed with 12 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.

Arrangements are being made for a memorial service in Plymouth, Mich., where Mr. Steimlosk had resided for more than 30 years. Memorial contributions may be given in Charles' memory to an Alzheimer's charity.

HOT SPRINGS, S.D. - Sharon Kay (Nash) Ennen, 58, of Hot Springs, S.D., formerly of Mason City, died Nov. 6, 2000, in Custer, S.D., of a heart attack.

Her funeral was held on Nov. 8, 2000, at Isburg-McColley's Chapel in Hot Springs. Sharon's wishes were to be cremated and buried at a later date.
