She married Myron Teague of Thompson in 1941. The couple worked in defense plants in Dayton, Ohio, and Ankeny, Iowa, until Myron went into the Navy in 1943. Betty lived in Forest City until Myron returned from the Pacific in 1946.

She developed a successful career in real estate while in Adrian, working for many years at Linehan Realty and also at Uarco Industries of Adrian.

The couple moved to Panama where Myron taught at the Department of Defense School at Fort Gulick. Betty enjoyed her time there very much, writing poetry and collecting numerous pieces of native Indian arts and crafts. Her poem "Seven Went Smiling" commemorating the seven astronauts of the space shuttle Discovery was published in the Fort Gulick "Stars and Stripes."

Betty and Myron retired to Thompson in 1987 where they renovated and lived in the Myron Teague ancestral home. Locals coined the term "bettyful" to remind them of Betty's decorating skills and of her passion for beautiful objects.
