CHARLES CITY - Lucille F. Roth, 82, of 608 Pfieffer St., died Friday (Nov. 10, 2000) at the Floyd County Memorial Hospital in Charles City.

The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at the Fullerton Hage Funeral Home, 401 Blunt St. in Charles City, with Pastor Mark A. Anderson of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church offficiating. Burial will be in the Sunnyside Memory Gardens south of Charles City.

Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Fullerton Hage Funeral Home, with the family receiving friends from 4 to 7 p.m., with a 6:30 p.m. prayer service. Visitation will continue from 9 a.m. until time of services on Monday at the funeral home.

CHARLES CITY - Robert W. Paulus, 72, of 509 Fourth Ave. in Charles City, died Friday (Nov. 10, 2000) at Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City.

A funeral Mass will be 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Charles City, with Monsignor Stanley J. Hayek officiating. Burial will be 3:30 p.m. Monday in the Riverside Cemetery at Rockford.

Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the Hauser Funeral Home, 1205 S. Main St. in Charles City, with a 7 p.m. vigil scriptural wake service. There will be additional visitation from 9 a.m. until time of services on Monday at the church.

CATHERINE L. ZINNEL

WEST BEND - Catherine L. Zinnel, 80, of Tampa, Fla., formerly of West Bend, passed away Wednesday (Nov. 8, 2000) in Tampa.

The funeral for Catherine will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Peace Lutheran Church in West Bend, with the Rev. Ed Brandt officiating. Burial will be in the West Bend Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Harris Funeral Home in West Bend.

Casket bearers will be Bob Zinnel, Bruce Brock, Mark Carson, Larry Brown, Paul Smith and Brian Harvey.

Catherine Lee Zinnel, the daughter of Lon and Fern (Jacobs) Brown, was born on May 8, 1920, in West Bend. She attended country school and graduated from West Bend High School on 1937.

She married Arnold Zinnel on Sept. 11, 1940. She was a member of the Peace Lutheran Church and the Peace Lutheran Ladies Aid.

Catherine is survived by her children and their spouses, Lester and Glorida Zinnel, of Niceville, Fla., Carol and Steve Sweeney, of Apollo Beach, Fla., and Stan and Alice Zinnel, of Mason City; six grandchildren, Steven Zinnel, Kelly Sweeney, Stephanie Feller, David Zinnel, Lynne Zinnel and Eric Zinnel; three great-grandchildren, Zach, Zinnel, Zayne Zinnel, and Samuel Feller; four sisters, Georgia Leaverton, of Anaheim, Calif., Allene Sillin, of Denver, Colo., Jean Carson, of Des Moines and Marlene Harvey, of Indianola; and one brother, Carl Brown, of Barnham.

Catherine was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Arnold, on July 15, 1993; one brother, and one sister.

MARLYS A. WYBORNY LARSON

OSAGE - Marlys A. Wyborny Larson, 66, of Osage, died Thursday (Nov. 9, 2000) at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester, Minn.

Marlys was born on Aug. 7, 1934, in Mason City, the daughter of Kenneth and Dorothy (Wright) Wyborny. She attended elementary school in Mason City until 1945, when they settled on a farm near Rudd. She graduated from Rudd High School, attended Mason City Junior College, and received her teaching degree from Upper Iowa University.

She was united in marriage to Donald E. Larson June 7, 1955, at Rock Creek Lutheran Church in Meroa. Marlys taught for 36 years in Thompson, Orchard and Osage school districts. She retired in 1994 after touching many children's lives.

Marlys was a member of Alpha Delta Kappa, Retired Teachers, Rachel Circle, Ladies Aid, was secretary for Aid Association for Lutherans and was co-chairman of the Rock Creek Lutefisk supper for several years. She was also involved in the restoration of the one-room Meroa schoolhouse.

She loved spending time with her grandchildren. She also enjoyed sewing, baking Norwegian specialties and traveling.

The funeral will be held 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Rock Creek Lutheran Church, 3269 Foothill Ave., in Meroa, with the Rev. R. Dawson Tornes officiating. Interment will be in Rock Creek Cemetery in Meroa.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7:30 p.m. Sunday at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home, 702 State St. in Osage, and one hour before services on Monday at the church.

She is survived by her husband, Donald Larson, of Osage; daughter, Debra Sudol and her husband, Orlin, of Nashua; son, Dennis and his wife, Gayle, of Stewartville, Minn.; daughter, Lori Randall and her husband, David, of Osage; and a special Norwegian daughter, Heidi (Jacobsen) Stromsodd, from Sandefjord, Norway and her husband, Tore; grandchildren, Brad and Eric Sudol, Brian and Kelly Larson, Joshua, Ryan, Thomas and Tyler Randall, and Eivind and Hakon Stromsodd; a brother, Glen Wyborny and his wife, Doris, of Rudd; and a sister, Jean Navratil and her husband, Ronald, of Rockford.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

RENETA COLBERTSON

NORTHWOOD - Reneta Colbertson, 97, a resident of the Lutheran Retirement Home in Northwood, died Thursday (Nov. 9, 2000) at the Lutheran Retirement Home.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Schroeder & Sites Funeral Home, Highway 65 S. in Northwood, with the Rev. Allan Stoa officiating. Burial will be at the Sunset Rest Cemetery in Northwood.

Visitation will begin after 9 a.m. Monday at the Schroeder & Sites Funeral Home.

Reneta Helena Lau Colbertson was born to Otto and Mtilda (Stiendorf) Lau in Shellrock Township, Freeborn County, east of Gordonsville, Minn. She was baptized Oct. 11, 1903, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Myrtle, Minn., and was confirmed in April of 1917 by Pastor J.O. Staehling.

She was married to Oscar Isaac Colbertson on Oct. 1, 1933, at Calvary Lutheran Church in Mason City, by the Rev. O.L.N. Wigdahl. Oscar and Reneta became members of the First Lutheran Church in Northwood on March 15, 1992.

They were in the concessions business and traveled a lot. In the winter, they lived in their home at Riverview, Fla., and in the summer, lived at their farm home east of Northwood. They also had a lake home on Cedar Lake near New Prague, Minn., in which they lived weekends.

They also had the Colbertson Plumbing Business in Northwood, which Oscar and Reneta built and operated. It is now Dewey Kruger Music. They enjoyed the change of seasons, changing from Northwood, Iowa to Riverview, Fla. They had many friends in Iowa, Minnesota and Florida.

Reneta loved doing the bookkeeping at the plumbing business, also keeping up a neat yard at the Northwood farm home.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Oscar Isaac; two sisters, Mrs. Olga Broitzman and Mrs. Linda Will; and one brother, Ervin Lau.

Survivors include a number of nieces and nephews blessed by the memory of Reneta Colbertson.

PHYLLIS MARIE OXLEY

KANAWHA - A funeral for Phyllis Marie Oxley, 67, of Kanawha, will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at the St. John Lutheran Church in Corwith, with Pastor Caroline Engelbrecht officiating. Interment will be in Amsterdam Cemetery in Kanawha.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the Garry-Roberts-Murphy-Schaaf Funeral Home in Corwith.

Phyllis Marie Oxley, 67, of Kanawha, departed this life on Wednesday (Nov. 8, 2000) at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City.

Born on July 17, 1933, in Belmond, Phyllis was the second child of William and Frances Baker Vestweber. She graduated from Alexander High School in 1950, and Hamilton Business College in Mason City.

On July 26, 1952, Phyllis married Carel Oxley at St. John's Lutheran Church in Belmond, after which they moved to rural Kanawha, and were engaged in farming.

The mother of five, Phyllis was a homemaker and an active member of her church and community for nearly 50 years. Her quiet service to her church, many friends and family will long be remembered by all.

Phyllis is mourned by her loving husband, Carel; her daughers, Sue Oxley and her husband, Eric Paige, of Charlotte, N.C., Nancy Bauer and her husband, Jeff, of Belmond, and their children, Sarah and Rachel Schiltz, of Rochester, Minn. and Matt Bauer, of Iowa City and Betty Zeman and her husband, Lenny, and their daughters, Katherine, Janet and Laura, of Cedar Falls; and by her sons, Jeffrey Oxley and his special friend, Ann YouSng, of Plant City, Fla. and Timothy Oxley, his wife, Rhonda, and their daughters, Miranda and Tesla, of Fort Myers, Fla.

In addition, Phyllis is survived by her mother, Frances Vestweber, of Belmond; her sister, Joye Ostendorf, of Meservey; her brother, Wayne Vestweber and his wife, Marianna, of McAllen, Texas; and by a host of other loving relatives and friends.

Phyllis was preceded in death by her father, William Vestweber.

ANN M. ANDERSON

KLEMME - Ann M. Anderson, 62, of Klemme, died Thursday, November 9, 2000 at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City.

A memorial service will be held 1:30 p.m., today, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Garner with Rev. Clyde Kieschnick & Rev. Robert Bronson officiating Her body was cremated. A private family burial will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family would like to direct memorials to the St. Paul Lutheran Church Foundation or Hospice of North Iowa.

Ann Marlene Anderson, the daughter of B.C. and Mary J. (Leitl) Berge, was born April 18, 1938 at Mason City, the eldest of four children. She was baptized at St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Bode on May 29, 1938 and confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Garner on April 6, 1952. Ann received her education at Garner, graduating from Garner High School in 1956. She then worked at the Farm Bureau office in Garner for several years. On August 2, 1958 she married Harry Anderson at St. Paul Lutheran Church. Ann devoted her life to caring for her family and volunteering her time and talents. She was a stay-at-home mom for her children, Tim, Val, and Lori. The Anderson home was a popular after school gathering place for her kids and their friends. Her constant supply of home-baked sweets was legendary. She also gave her time to her church, especially Cradle Roll, which she maintained more than 20 years and also as a Sunday school teacher for several years. Ann volunteered at the Klemme Elementary School library for more than 15 years, helping students and reprimanding those who needed it. In 1990, Ann received the State of Iowa Governor's Volunteer Award and in 1997, she received the Friend of Education Award from the Belmond-Klemme School District. In her "leisure" time, she was an avid reader, gardener and counted cross-stitcher. Family meals were important to Ann, and she loved preparing enough so everyone left feeling well-satisfied! She was a lifelong member of St. Paul Lutheran Church.

Ann leaves to mourn her loss, her husband, Harry L. Anderson of Klemme; her son, Timothy M. Anderson of Garner; two daughters, Valerie A. Alden and her husband, Thomas, of Nora Springs and Lorelei J. Flanigan and her husband, Michael, of Arvada, CO; her father, B.C. Berge and his wife, Violet, of Garner; a sister, Barbara M. Weians and her husband, Larry, of Edwardsville, KS; two brothers, Dr. Donald C. Berge and his wife, Nicyle, of Clear Lake and Alan L. Berge and his wife, Carol, of Clear Lake and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and countless friends. Her mother, Mary Berge, who died October 15, 1981, preceded her in death.

ELMER (JIM) TAYLOR

BENTON, Ill .- Elmer (Jim) Taylor, 70 of 403 N. Stuyvesant, died at 3:10 p.m. Friday (Nov. 10, 2000) at the V. A. Medical Center, Marion, Ill.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Hobbs-Johnson Funeral Home, Benton, with the Rev. Carroll Toler officiating. Burial will be in the Masonic and Odd Fellows Cemetery, Benton.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Elmer (Jim) Taylor was born on May 16, 1930, in Benton, the son of Elmer Bryan and Edna Lorain (Jackson) Taylor. He married the former Athalia Moore on June 20, 1951, and she survives.

Mr. Taylor was a retired regional maintenance technician for Mitchell Transport. He was a U. S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict, a member of the Harmony Baptist Church, Decatur, Ill., and a member of the Bell Claire Beagle Club.

Survivors include his wife, Athalia Taylor, Benton; a mother-in-law, Sarah Moore, Benton; two sons, Jim Taylor, Mentor-on-the-Lake, Ohio, and Kenneth Taylor, Mason City; a daughter Marinda Hornsby, Ravenna, Ohio; nine grandchildren, Russell, Amie, Rachel, William, Michael, Sarah, Shaina, J.T. and Jacob,; a brother, Richard Taylor, Decatur, Ill.; three sisters, Dorothy Monterstille, Ottawa, Ill., and Phyllis McGlasson and Ruth Ann Sileven, both of Decatur, Ill.; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Harley and Floyd Taylor; and a sister, Mildred Anthony.

OSAGE - Lynda Troge, 94, formerly of Osage, died Friday (Nov. 10, 2000) at her daughter's home in Rudd of congestive heart failure.

A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 17, at St. John's Lutheran Church, south of Osage, with the Rev. Christian F. Gugel officiating. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, rural Osage.

Visitation is from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home, Osage, and will resume one hour prior to service time at the church Friday.

Lynda Louise (Bahnsen) Troge was born Aug. 24, 1906, in Rock Grove Township in Floyd County, one of 10 children of Christian and Margaretha (Wohlert) Bahnsen. She was baptized Nov. 4, 1906, by Pastor Peschel and confirmed Aug. 20, 1922, at the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Nora Springs by Pastor H. Freytag.

She was united in marriage to Aurthur Troge on May 6, 1926, at St. John's parsonage by Pastor Theo Frese. They farmed south of Osage. In 1996 Art and Lynda moved off the farm to Evergreen Apartments in Osage and on May 3, 2000, she moved to her daughter's home.

Left to cherish her memory are a son, Eugene Troge of Osage; a daughter, Audrey Benson and her husband, Wayne, of Rudd; a grandson, Ashley Benson and his wife, Lynda, of Dallas, Texas; a granddaughter, Janeen Benson of Denver, Colo.; two great-grandchildren, Misty Benson and Joey Benson of Dallas, Texas; a brother, Hans Bahnsen of Boyceville, Wis.; and many nieces and nephews.

Lynda was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Art, on April 27, 2000; three sisters; and five brothers.

GERALD (JERRY) EDWARD LATTIMER

ORLANDO, Fla. - Gerald (Jerry) Edward Lattimer, 68, died on Nov. 3, 2000, at his home in Orlando. He was diagnosed with bone cancer, but passed away due to complications with pneumonia.

A funeral was held Nov. 4 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Orlando.

Jerry was born in Rockwell Dec. 31, 1931. His family then moved to Mason City where he attended St. Joseph's and graduated in 1949. He graduated from Mason City Junior College in 1951 and then attended Loras College.

During this time he enlisted in the U. S. Navy during the Korean Conflict and served four years, ending with an honorable discharge.

Jerry went on to graduate from Boston College and later became an alumni of the Harvard College of Business.

He was married to Eunice White in White Plains, N.Y. in 1969.

Jerry was an executive with IBM for 30 years and upon retirement was an instructor at NIACC/Buena Vista and was the Director of Job Training Partnership of America for several years.

He is survived by his wife, Eunice, and their children, Amy of Fort Walton Beach, Fla., Gerald (Jay) of Las Vegas, Nev., and David of Orlando, Fla.; two older daughters, Judy and Diane both of New Jersey; a brother, Don Lattimer and a sister, Jean Casey, both of Mason City; and a sister, Joan Lattimer of Denver, Colo.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Miriam Livedalen and Kaye Maring; and one brother, Robert, in infancy.

EUGENE E. "GENE" JOHNSON JR.

MASON CITY -Eugene E. "Gene" Johnson Jr., 53, of 2550 S. Benjamin, died Friday (Nov.10, 2000) at Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City, following a courageous battle with cancer.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Clear Lake United Methodist Church with the Rev. Fred Lewis and Chaplin Rosie Schlueter officiating.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 N. Fourth St., Clear Lake.

Eugene was born Jan. 31, 1947, in Mason City, the son of Eugene and Marcella (Coyier) Johnson. He graduated from Clear Lake High School in 1965 and later graduated from NIACC.

He served in the U. S. Marine Corps from 1966-1969. He was wounded in Vietnam and received a Purple Heart.

After returning from the service, he worked for A&M Prestress Concrete, Winnebago Industries and in the Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa Safety and Security Department for the last 20 years. The hospital honored him with a retirement party on Oct. 13, 2000.

Eugene married JoAnn Hoyland, June 26, 1982, in Forest City at the Immanuel Lutheran Church

He enjoyed playing softball and coaching the Mercy women's softball team. He had a love for the great outdoors and enjoyed fishing, hunting, bowling and cribbage.

Eugene is survived by his wife, JoAnn Johnson, Mason City; his mother, Marcella (Coyier) Johnson, Clear Lake; three sisters, Linda Bowers and her husband, David, Clear Lake, Deborah Pierce and her husband, James, Independence, and Melissa Schuchard and her husband, Jeffrey, Clear Lake; two nephews, Charles MacDonald, Ankeny, and Dylan Schuchard, Clear Lake; two nieces, Sheila MacDonald, Johnston, and Emily Bowers, Clear Lake; a great-nephew, Warren MacDonald, Ankeny; and special friends, Richard and Deb Hartley, Mason City. He is also survived by two aunts, two uncles, several cousins and many special friends.

Eugene was preceded in death by his father, Eugene Sr.; his grandparents; his parents-in-law, Jack and Ida Hoyland; and two uncles.

LAWRENCE EDWARD (LARRY) CHRISTIANSEN

ST. ANSGAR - Lawrence Edward (Larry) Christiansen, 85, died Friday (Nov. 10, 2000) at St. Ansgar Good Samaritan Center.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at First Lutheran Church, St. Ansgar, with the Rev. Robert Porisch officiating. Burial will be in the First Lutheran Cemetery, St. Ansgar.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Schroeder & Sites Funeral Home, 207 S. School St., St. Ansgar.

Larry, the son of Hans and Augusta Wohlert Christiansen, was born July 15, 1915, on the family farm in Mitchell County. He was baptized June 16, 1918, and confirmed his Lutheran faith June 8, 1930, at the Rock Creek Lutheran Church, Meroa. He received his education in West Cedar rural school and graduated from Osage High School in the class of 1932. After graduation he worked for area farmers until starting farming for himself. As a young man he enjoyed playing ball with the Cedar Pirates and bowling.

He enlisted in the U. S. Navy during World War II and served for three years. He enjoyed being a member of the Great Lakes Naval Choir.

While in the Navy, Larry married Frances Hofler of Nora Springs on June 27, 1944, in Osage.

Larry served as Sunday school superintendent and teacher at Rock Creek Lutheran Church for many years.

He was a member of the St. Ansgar Lions Club for 30 years. While in the Lions Club, he received many distinguished awards including District Governor of 9 X 2 area in 1980-81 and the Melvin Jones award.

Larry served on the St. Ansgar Mutual Insurance Company for 28 years serving as president for 16 years. He was on the Mitchell County Planning and Zoning board and many other county committees.

After retiring from farming due to rheumatoid arthritis, he moved to St. Ansgar and was employed by the Iowa Crop and Livestock Reporting Service for 12 years. During that time Larry pursued his hobby of woodworking.

His family was his love. He made four trips to Germany with his wife to visit relatives.

Those thankful for having shared Larry's life include his loving wife, Frances, of St. Ansgar; two daughters, Janice Stanco and her husband, Richard, of Brookfield Conn., and Shirley Fossey of Waterloo; his grandchildren, Todd Fossey of North Hollywood, Calif, Benjamin Fossey of Chicago, Ill., and Timothy Fossey of St. Ambrose University, Davenport, Steven Stanco and his wife, Barbara, of Danbury, Conn., and Suzanne Stanco, Danbury, Conn; and one great-granddaughter, Robyn Stanco of Brookfield, Conn. He is also survived by two brothers, John of Osage and Glen of Nora Springs and many loving nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Alvin, Carl and Herbert.

ZELDA BERNICE SHAW

MASON CITY - Zelda Bernice Shaw, 88, formerly of Rowan, died Friday (Nov. 10, 2000) at Good Shepherd Home in Mason City.

A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Willim Funeral Home, Clarion, with the Rev. JoAn Skyrme officiating. Burial will be in the Rowan Cemetery.

Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service at the funeral home Tuesday.

Zelda Bernice (Hackley) Shaw, the daughter of Benjamin and Jennie (Alexander) Hackley was born in Franklin County on July 12, 1912. She was united in marriage to Oscar Shaw on Dec. 17, 1933, at Clarion. They made their home in Wright County, mostly in Rowan. Oscar was a bricklayer and they traveled extensively during World War II following defense work.

Oscar died on Nov. 13, 1972, and Zelda continued to live in Rowan until 1981 when she moved to Mason City. She lived in senior housing and then with failing health moved to the Good Shepherd Health Care Center where she died on Friday, Nov. 10.

Zelda attended the Rowan school system, graduating from high school in 1931. Barely five feet tall, she was an all-conference basketball player. She was a fierce competitor which continued all through her life.

She is survived by her two children, Donald and his wife, Mary, of Belmond and Patricia Meyer and her husband, Harold, of Mason City; seven grandchildren, Kathleen Martinson and her husband, Bruce, Carl Shaw and his wife, Sara, Connie Shaw, Daniel Shaw, Elizabeth Shaw, Barbara Hanson and her husband, Todd, and Brian Meyer; five great grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.

Zelda was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and all of her five brothers and six sisters.

Hellen was born Nov. 17, 1906, in Albert Lea, Minn., the daughter of George and Edith (Neubauer) Hill. She graduated from Albert Lea High School.

Hellen was united in marriage to Morris Holstad in 1936 in Albert Lea. The couple moved to Northwood, where they together bought and managed the Pontiac Dealership. Hellen also worked for many years as a press woman for the Albert Lea Tribune.

She was an active member of the First Lutheran Church in Northwood and of the church circle. Hellen was also an avid bird watcher and a member of the Audubon Society. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, ceramics and family fishing trips with her nieces and nephews.

Hellen is survived by one sister, Eva Blumenshein of Waseca, Minn.; one brother, Arthur Hill of Glenville, Minn.; two nieces, Sue Olson and her husband, Dennis, of Mitchell, S.D., and Gay Wadell and her husband, Jerald, of Nampa, Idaho; and four great-nieces and nephews.

Hellen was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

ROBERT W. PAULUS

CHARLES CITY - Robert W. Paulus, 72, of 509 Fourth Ave., died Friday (Nov. 10, 2000) at Hospice of North Iowa's Muse Norris Inpatient Unit, Mason City.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 1:30 p.m. today at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Charles City, with the Monsignor Stanley J. Hayek, pastor, officiating. Burial will be at 3:30 p.m. today in the Riverside Cemetery at Rockford.

Friends called Sunday at the Hauser Funeral Home in Charles City, where there was a vigil scriptural wake service. Visitation will continue from 9 a.m. until the time of the service at the church today.

Robert William Paulus was born Dec. 17, 1927, at Rockford, the son of Bill and Alma (Casperson) Paulus. He received his education in the Rockford schools. He served in the Army in the Philippines from 1946 to 1947.

On Feb. 28, 1949, he and Lola Mae Worley were married at Rockford. He worked for the Farm Cooperative at Rockford for 37 years, retiring in 1989. They moved to Charles City in 1995.

He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and the Moose Lodge in Charles City. He was an avid outdoorsman and especially liked to fish.

Living family members include his wife, Lola, of Charles City; four daughters and their husbands, Jeannette (Mrs Gary) Schmitt of Rockwell, Jacque (Mrs. John ) Moffitt of Dysart, Laurie (Mrs. Gary) O'Connor and Bobbi (Mrs. Dan) Parcher, both of Rockford; five sons and their wives, Alvin and Marlene Paulus of Chilicothe, Mo., Patrick and Cathy Paulus of Plano, Texas, Michael and special friend, Laura Paulus of Charlotte, N.C., Tom and Nancy Paulus of Muscatine, and Jerry and Lisa Paulus of Rudd; 19 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a sister, Donna Koebrick of Charles City; and five brothers, Dale and Arlyn Paulus, both of Sedro Woolley, Wash., Dan Paulus of Renton, Wash., Calvin Paulus of Yakima, Wash., and Tommy Paulus of Mason City.

Mary Hobbs Thomas was born Nov. 17, 1952, at Storm Lake. She was the daughter of George and Alice (Mulder) Hobbs. She married Jim Meyers in Negril, Jamaica.

Mary worked at Quaker Oats for 28 years and was a long-standing member of Local 110, Cereal Workers.

She is survived by her husband, Jim Meyers, Cedar Rapids; a daughter, Dawn Pruisman and her husband, Dan, Mason City; her mother, Alice Wittler, Clear Lake; three grandchildren, Justin, Ethan and Taylor; five sisters, Sarah Cozette DeYoung, Clear Lake, Cindie Logemann and her husband, Rick, Marion, Pam Dolan and her husband, Tom, Cedar Rapids, Lynn Gerriets, Ozawkie, Kan., and Candy Weiss and her husband, Mitch, Mason City; and a special friend, Carol Heims, Marion.

Mrs. True, the former Clara Agnes Boyle, was born March 5, 1931, in Austin, Minn., the daughter of James Thomas and Rose Margaret (Wolfe) Boyle. Clara and her family lived in Oelwein and Milwaukee, Wis., before settling in Mason City in 1943. She attended parochial school at both Holy Family and St. Joseph in Mason City.

On May 1, 1948, she was united in marriage to Carl Richard True in Northwood. Clara was employed as a cook in area restaurants, most notably the former Black and White Café.

In her spare time, Clara enjoyed doing many types of crafts and playing bingo. She also was noted for the fun she enjoyed while watching NASCAR races on television.

Kathryn "Kay" Cahill was born Feb. 7, 1929, at Osage, the daughter of Lawrence and Helena (Koschmeider) Pint. She graduated from Osage High School in 1946. She worked for Northwestern Bell Telephone Co. in Mason City for 32 years.

She was married to Martin Cahill on July 2, 1951, in Osage. Martin died on Sept. 5, 1968.

At the time of her death, she was working for Lundberg's Women's Clothing in Mason City. She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church and was very active in the Telephone Pioneers of America.

Kathryn is survived by two sons, Mark Cahill and his wife, Debbie, Plymouth, Minn., and Scott Cahill and his wife, Susan, Clive; a daughter, Kim Hansen, Mason City; five grandchildren, Jeremy Hansen, Mason City, Courtney Cahill and Erin Cahill, both of Plymouth, Minn., and Cassi Cahill and Emily Cahill, both of Clive; one great grandchild, Jada Hansen, Mason City; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She worked at various restaurants in Mason City, most recently at the Mason City Elks Lodge and the Sportsman's Lounge.

She enjoyed spending time with her niece and nephews and playing cards. She looked forward to spending her birthday and Christmas with her family and friends.

KEITH A. DRALLE

GREENE - Keith A. Dralle, 75, of 414 N. Fourth St., died Saturday (Nov. 11, 2000) at the Floyd County Memorial Hospital in Charles City.

A funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Peter Lutheran Church, Greene, with Pastor Lance Kittleson officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery in Greene, with military rites conducted by Tack Barnett Post 268 American Legion of Greene.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Reid's Funeral Chapel, Greene, where there will be a public scripture service at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour before the service at the church Tuesday.

Keith Albert Dralle was born Jan. 26, 1925, in Greene, a son of Henry W. and Leola M. (Kessler) Dralle, and died Saturday, Nov. 11, of cardiac arrest at the Floyd County Memorial Hospital.

He was baptized March 15, 1925, and confirmed May 28, 1937, at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Greene. He received his education from Greene community schools, graduating in 1942. He attended Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls one year before entering the United States Navy on June 5, 1943. Following his honorable discharge on June 19, 1944, he attended the University of Iowa, where he received his bachelor of science degree in 1948.

On Oct. 3, 1948, he was united in marriage to Mary Leigh Larson at the Lutheran Church in Iowa City. They made their home in Greene, where Keith joined in partnership with his brother, Jim, in the family-owned department store until his retirement in 1996.

Keith will be remembered as an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan and one who enjoyed attending many of the local athletic events. He enjoyed going on fishing trips to Canada, RVing throughout the country and reading. His greatest love was spending time with his family and grandchildren.

He was past president of the Green Commercial Club, past president of the Round Grove Golf and Country Club, past president of the Greene Housing Board (for senior citizens), and a member of the Greene Swimming Pool board. He served on the Boy Scout Board of Review and was a 50-year member of the Tack Barnett Post 268 American Legion of Greene and a 50-year member of Cornerstone Lodge 251 A.F. & A.M. of Marble Rock. Keith was a faithful member of St. Peter Lutheran Church, where he taught Sunday school for several years and served on various boards and committees.

Those thankful for having shared his life include his loving wife of 52 years, Mary Leigh, of Greene; two daughters, Melinda and her husband, Dr. Paul Anderson, of Apple Valley, Minn., and Carolyn Dralle of Spring, Texas; a daughter-in-law, Kathy Dralle of Mason City; four grandchildren, Heather Leigh and her husband, Mark Ostlie, of Maple Grove, Minn., Michael Paul Anderson of St. Cloud, Minn., and Nicholas Mackenzie Dralle and Chelsea Jo Dralle, both of Mason City; and several nieces and nephews.

He leaves to join his son, Gregory Keith Dralle, who died July 6, 1993; his parents; two sisters, Rita Turner and Vae Uhlenhopp; and one brother, James K. Dralle.

BECKY SUE KISNER

SHELL ROCK - Becky Sue (Bockhaus) Kisner, 48, of Shell Rock, Iowa and formerly of Frederika and Tripoli, died early Wednesday morning, Oct. 25, 2000, at the Waverly Municipal Hospital.

Becky was born on July 4, 1952, in Sumner, Iowa, the daughter of Elmer and Florine (Segabarth) Bockhaus. She grew up in Fredrika and Tripoli, graduating from the Tripoli High School in 1970. She graduated from Hamilton Business College in Mason City in 1974. She worked the next six years at the Conestoga Girl Scout Office in Mason City.

Becky was employed until the time of her death at the Waverly Municipal Hospital.

On Dec. 22, 1979, she was united in marriage to Mark Kisner at St. John's Lutheran Church in Frederika. The couple lived in the Waverly-Shell Rock area since 1979.

Becky was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Waverly. In her spare time she enjoyed cooking and collecting hand craft items.

She is survived by her mother, Florine Bockhaus, of Tripoli; her husband, Mark, of Shell Rock; her son, John at home; one brother, Brian Bockhaus, of Sumner.

She was preceded in death by her father.

MASON CITY - Hilda R. McManus, 92, of Mason City, died Sunday (Nov. 12, 2000) at the Good Shepherd Care Center.

Funeral Mass will be held at noon Wednesday at the St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 302 Fifth St. S.E., with the Rev. Carl A. Ries officiating. Burial will be at Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery.

Hilda was born March 10, 1908, in Grinnell, the daughter of William and Margaret (Flanagan) Devereux. Hilda was united in marriage to Dennis J. McManus on Sept. 13, 1933, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Dougherty, She graduated from St. Patrick's Catholic High School in Dougherty and received her Teaching Certificate from the Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls.

Hilda played the organ at St. John's Catholic Church in Cartersville for many years. She enjoyed reading, sewing, crocheting, cooking, gardening and attending church.

She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church and the church circle in her younger years.

Hilda was loved very much by her siblings, many nieces and nephews, many great-nieces and nephews and great-great-nieces and nephews, and devoted her life to loving her family.

Hilda is survived by her sister, Mary Franke, of Mason City; 19 nieces and nephews, many great-nieces and nephews, and many great-great-nieces and nephews.

Hilda was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dennis, in 1978; four brothers, Francis, Alex, Paul, and Joe Devereux; and two sisters, Anita Gaubatz and Inez Devereux.

Victor George Newman was born in Springfield, S.D., the son of Victor F. and Martha A. (Stark) Newman. He attended and received his education in Springfield, S.D. school system, graduating from Springfield, S.D., High School.

He was united in marriage to Adeline Honomichl on April 22, 1947, in Tyndall, S.D. In 1956 they moved to Mason City. Victor worked as a carpenter and millwright worker and as a general foreman and superintendent for Davey Moen, Barbarossa and Henkel Construction for several years until his retirement.

He enjoyed Vikings and Hawkeye football, basketball, and reading the newspapers.

He was a Methodist by faith, belonged to Carpenters and Joiners Local Union #1313 of Mason City, and coached youth league and Babe Ruth Baseball teams.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Adeline Newman, of Mason City; four sons, Darrell R. Newman, Jack L. Newman and special friend, Becky Nava, Texas W. Newman and his wife, Shelley, and Roger D. Newman and his wife, Margaret, all of Mason City; seven grandchildren, Mindy, Heather, Nathan, Alison, Beth, Tim, and Zachary; four brothers, William "Ace" Newman and his wife, Erma, of Minneapolis, Minn., Darrel R. Newman and his wife, Gladys, of Eau Claire, Wis., Alton C. Newman and his wife, Sue, of La Dona, Minn., and Delbert J. MASON CITY - Clara A. True, 69, of 115 Twelfth Place N.E., died Friday (Nov. 10, 2000) at Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa.

Mrs. True, the former Clara Agnes Boyle, was born March 5, 1931, in Austin, Minn., the daughter of James Thomas and Rose Margaret (Wolfe) Boyle. Clara and her family lived in Oelwein and Milwaukee, Wis., before settling in Mason City in 1943. She attended parochial school at both Holy Family and St. Joseph in Mason City.

On May 1, 1948, she was united in marriage to Carl Richard True in Northwood. Clara was employed as a cook in area restaurants, most notably the former Black and White Café.

In her spare time, Clara enjoyed doing many types of crafts and playing bingo. She also was noted for the fun she enjoyed while watching NASCAR races on television.

BENJAMIN 'MR. BIX' HALL

VENTURA - Benjamin "Mr. Bix" G. Hall, 79 , of Ventura, died Saturday (Nov. 11, 2000), at his home, 1301 E. Lake St., Ventura.

A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 15, 2000, at the Evangelical Free Church in Clear Lake, with Pastor David Wiersbe officiating. The body is being cremated. Military Honors will be provided by the Clear Lake V.F.W.

Inurnment will be at Memorial Park in Mason City, at a later date. Memorials may be made to the Ben Hall Memorial Fund for Hospice of North Iowa and the Garner Ambulance Service.

Ben Hall was born Sept. 16, 1921, in Jewell, Iowa. He was the son of Bennie and Julia (Peterson) Hall. The family moved to Hanlontown when Ben was three years old. He began school in Hanlontown Consolidated. His parents moved south of Forest City where Ben finished his education in Madison Township. He graduated from Forest City High School.

Ben worked in the Forest City Creamery until he enlisted in the Air Force in 1942. A year later he was placed in the Infantry and served in the European Theater; and then serving in the occupational Army in Japan.

After his discharge, he farmed in Linden Township and Grant Township for 12 years. From there he built and managed a flower shop in Buffalo Center for 12 years. His old friends in Buffalo Center nicknamed him and still call him "Bub". He then got into furniture restoration. Ben bought Bix Furniture Restoration, which he owned for 25 years. In Clear Lake he became known as "Mr. Bix".

Ben loved his yard work, raising roses and especially coffee with his friends. He loved fall for the traditional Norwegian dinners of Lutefisk and Lefse. He was a member of the Evangelical Free Church and a member of Noon Lions for over 30 years.

Ben is survived by his special friend, Bonnie Kiel and her daughter Pam, of Ventura; his son, Robert Hall and his wife, Sally, of Iowa City; and his daughter, Julie Ann Scott and her husband, Norman, of Deland, Fla.; one brother, Gordon Hall and his wife, Marjorie, of Forest City; two sisters, Doris Thompson and her husband, LeRoy, of Forest City, and Sylvia Kuns, of Clear Lake; one sister-in-law, Neta Hall, of Denver, Colo.; three grandchildren Ben Hall, Aaron Warner and Pat Warner.

He was preceded in death by both parents; and four brothers, Melvin, Elmer, Bueford and Gaylen (who died in infancy) Hall.

GERALD (JERRY) EDWARD LATTIMER

ORLANDO, Fla. - Gerald (Jerry) Edward Lattimer, 68, died on Nov. 3, 2000, at his home in Orlando. He was diagnosed with bone cancer, but passed away due to complications with pneumonia.

A funeral was held Nov. 4 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Orlando.

Jerry was born in Rockwell Dec. 31, 1931, the son of William and Kathleen O'Brien) Lattimer. His family then moved to Mason City where he attended St. Joseph's and graduated in 1949. He graduated from Mason City Junior College in 1951 and then attended Loras College.

During this time he enlisted in the U. S. Navy during the Korean Conflict and served four years, ending with an honorable discharge.

Jerry went on to graduate from Boston College and later became an alumni of the Harvard College of Business.

He was married to Eunice White in White Plains, N.Y., in 1969.

Jerry was an executive with IBM for 30 years and upon retirement was an instructor at NIACC/Buena Vista and was the Director of Job Training Partnership of America for several years.

Eleanor J. Hunt was born June 14, 1919, to Elmer A. and F. Erma (Falcon) Thrams in Cerro Gordo County, Iowa. Eleanor was baptized and confirmed in the United Methodist Church in Mason City. She graduated from Mason City High School in 1937.

She was united in marriage to Jack Hunt on July 29, 1944, at University Place First Christian Church in Champaign, Ill. She worked at the Park Clinic for several years as a secretary.

She spent her spare time working with Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts, teaching Sunday school and working in the church nursery. After retiring, they became snowbirds in the Southwest where she continued her interests in church activities, reading, oil painting, and playing cards.

She is survived by one daughter, Marcia and her husband, Albert T. Clouse, of Wichita, Kan.; one son, Terry and his wife, Julie Hunt, of Mason City; six grandchildren, William Hunt, of Denver, Colo., Tammie Clouse, of Wichita, Kan., Wendy and her husband, Michael Prater, of Wichita, Kan., Thomas Clouse and his wife, Kristi, of Mason City, John-Paul Hunt, of Mason City, and Teri-Lynn and her husband, Corey Buschbaum, of Coon Rapids, Minn.; seven great-grandchildren; three sisters, Irene Wilma and her husband, J. MASON CITY - Frances L. "Fran" Bartling, 69, 210 Mars Hill Dr., Clear Lake, died Monday (Nov. 13, 2000) at the Muse-Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit of North Iowa.

Fran was born Aug. 24, 1931, in Dinsdale, Iowa, the daughter of Gerriet and Elva Mae (Jorgenson) Bolt. They also lived in Denver, Garwin and Janesville, Iowa, where she attended school.

Fran married Harold Bartling Oct. 8, 1954, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. They moved to Clear Lake in 1956 where Harold worked for his brother-in-law at Chaney Plumbing.

They owned and operated the Melodee Bowling Lanes in Clear Lake from 1969-1977. She was an avid bowler, winning many awards. Fran loved to dance, play in mixed bowling leagues, listen to country western music, and being outdoors in the sunshine.

Besides being a great bowler, she was a good cook, loved kids and babysitting them and was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Fran and Harold enjoyed going to the casinos. Fran was a long time member of the Mason City Women's Bowling Association.

Fran is survived by her husband, Harold Bartling, of Clear Lake; four sons, Kevin Bartling and his wife, Regina, of Iowa Falls, Ken Bartling and his wife, Denise, of Garner, Brian Bartling and his wife, Patrice, of Cedar Rapids, and Brad Bartling and his wife Renee, of Nora Springs; one sister, Shirley Moses and her husband, Roy, of Cedar Falls; two brothers, Jack Bolt and his wife, Bette, of Janesville, and Gerriet Bolt Jr. and his wife, Sue, of Holland; eight grandchildren, Steve, Jayna, Hayley, Justin, Jeremy, Jake, Katrina and Ryan; three great-grandchildren, Jessica, Austin and Luke; and special friends, Ron and Teri Gustin, of Clear Lake.

KENNETH L. CARLSON

MASON CITY - Kenneth L. Carlson, 71, of 15 13th St. S. E., died Monday (Nov. 13, 2000) at his home.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday at the Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave., with the Rev. Kathy Graves, Chaplain of Hospice of North Iowa officiating. Interment will be in Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery with Military Rites conducted by the Mason City Veterans Memorial Association officiating.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Major Erickson Funeral Home and until time of services on Thursday.

Memorials may be given to Hospice of North Iowa.

Kenneth Carlson was born July 28, 1929, in Belmond, Iowa, to Thomas and Eileen (Baker) Carlson. The family moved to Manly where he attended and graduated from High School in 1948 with honors.

Right after school, Ken was drafted into the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict where he remained until after the war.

On July 3, 1954, he was united in marriage with Agnes Marie Pappas at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Manly.

He worked at Jacob E. Decker and Sons and retired when the plant closed in 1983.

Ken was a member of the CIO-Union Food Workers of America and the V.F.W. in Mason City. Having lost his wife to cancer, he devoted much of his time taking other people to the cancer center for treatments.

Family members include a son, Timothy Carlson and special friend, Diane Robbins, of Mason City; daughter, Kathryn "Kae" Evans and her husband, Tony, of Carlsbad, Calif.; brothers, Roger Carlson, of Mason City, Keith Carlson, of Manly, and Donald Carlson, of San Diego, Calif.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Agnes; sister, Grace Funk; and brother, Thomas Carlson.

MARGARET L. SMITH

ROCHESTER, Minn. - Margaret Lenore Smith, 92, a resident of six years at Madonna Towers, Rochester, Minn., formerly of Mason City, died Monday (Nov. 13, 2000) at Seasons Hospice in Rochester, Minn.

Funeral Mass will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 302 Fifth St. S. E., with the Rev. David Kucera officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery in Mason City.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Hogan-Bremer Colonial Chapel, 126 Third St. N.E., with a scriptural wake service will be held at 7:30 p.m.

Margaret was born March 12, 1908, at Holdingford, Minn., a daughter of Nicholas and Julia Wolney. She attended schools in Holdingford and then graduated from St. Joseph's School of Nursing in Sioux City in 1927.

She worked as a registered nurse at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital, in Mason City, for 22 years, retiring in 1965.

Margaret married Justin James Smith on Aug. 22, 1936, at Holdingford, Minn. Mr. Smith died in 1994 after a brief residence at Madonna Towers.

Survivors include two sons, Dr. J. Michael Smith, of Kansas City, Mo., and Dr. Thomas F. Smith and his wife, Connie, of Rochester, Minn.; four granddaughters, Kathy Ruhland and her husband, Mike, of St. Paul, Minn., Joleen Schaefer and her husband, Tom, of Savage, Minn., Laura Stoddart and her husband, Peter, of West St. Paul, Minn., and Sara Beth Smith, a student at St. Thomas University, of St. Paul, Minn. six great-grandchildren, Alyssa and Sam Ruhland, Nicholas, Anna, and Daniel Schaefer, and Clare Stoddart.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Ella Wolney and Mary Leary; her husband, Justin; and one granddaughter, Susanne smith.

CLARA S. WIEBKE

CLARKSVILLE - Funeral services for Clara S. Wiebke, 92, of Clarksville, will be held 10:30 a.m. today at St. John Lutheran Church in Clarksville, with Pastor Norm Omodt officiating. Interment will be in Lynwood Cemetery in Clarksville.

Clara S. Wiebke, 92, of Clarksville, was born the daughter of William and Lena (Nordman) Spier on March 27, 1908, in Butler County, rural Clarksville. She was baptized in the Pleasant Valley Church on May 17, 1908, and was confirmed into the Christian Faith in the Immanuel Evangelical Church on Sept. 4, 1921, both in Clarksville. Clara received her education in a rural Butler County School near her home.

Clara was united in marriage with Paul Wiebke on March 3, 1929 at St. John Lutheran Church in Clarksville. They made their home and farmed in rural Clarksville. Clara and Paul moved to town in Clarksville in December of 1968.

Clara was a faithful member of St. John Lutheran Church. She enjoyed crocheting and needlework, also gardening and raising flowers. Clara was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She always took good care of her family and helped on their farm with the chores. She enjoyed playing cards with friends. Clara was a gracious hostess and she always had coffee and treats on hand when visitors stopped in.

At 1:10 p.m. Sunday (Nov. 12, 2000) Clara died at the Community Nursing Home in Clarksville.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Wiebke on Jan. 10, 1981; one son-in-law, Norman Kleinschmidt; two sisters, Adela Dewey and Alma Benning; one brother, Arthur Deike; and two sisters and one brother in infancy.

Clara is survived by her two daughters, Eileen and her husband, Lloyd Korte, of Cedar Falls, and Thelma Kleinschmidt, of Mason City; four grandchildren, Christa Guthrie, Robert Kleinschmidt, Jim Korte and Richard Kleinschmidt; and nine great-grandchildren, Justin and Christopher Witter, Kelly, Amy and Kyle Kleinschmidt, Jacob and Sarah Korte, and Seth and Alex Kleinschmidt.

BONNIE R. YOUNG

GARNER - Bonnie R. Young, 63, of Garner died Monday (Nov. 13, 2000) at Methodist Hospital, Rochester, Min...

A funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Boniface Catholic Church with Father Michael Schueller officiating. Interment will be at St. Boniface Catholic Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the Cataldo Funeral Home with a Rosary Society rosary at 6 p.m. and a scriptural wake service at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Thursday.

Bonnie Roberta Young, the daughter of Ivan and Alberta H. (Bartleson) Iverson, was born June 30, 1937, at Crystal Lake. She attended school at Crystal Lake where she graduated from high school in 1954. She then worked for Northwestern Bell as an operator at Mason City and Garner.

On May 1, 1956, she was married to Elmer F. Young at St. Boniface Catholic Church. They lived in Crystal Lake, Farmersburg and in 1959 returned to Garner. She went to La'James Cosmetology School and then had her own beauty shop, "Bonnie's Beauty Salon", which she operated for 18 years. She also worked at Flowers by Flattery, Erickson's Drugstore in the card section, and substituted at the Garner-Hayfield School lunch program. Bonnie also did volunteer work at Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa Admissions department. She enjoyed her family, golfing, playing bridge, exercise class and bus trips.

She was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church where she taught Catechism and was active in the church choir and Rosary Society. She was also a member of the Garner Wa-Tan-Ye Club.

Bonnie is survived by her husband, Elmer, of Garner; three children, Pat Young and his wife, Karen, and their two children, Kristina and Kevin of San Diego, Calif., Jeff Young and his wife, Joyce Maruniak, and their son, Noah of San Diego, Calif. and Valerie Carolus and her husband, Dean and their three children, Brett, Trevor and Taryn of Klemme; a sister, Jackie Schleuger and her husband, Glenn, of Britt; and a brother-in-law, Joe Vivalda of Fallbrook, Calif.

Her parents; and a sister, Marnie Vivalda preceded her in death.

BEN P. KRAMER

MASON CITY - Ben P. Kramer, 75, passed away peacefully on Monday (Nov. 13, 2000) in the company of his family.

Funeral services will be held 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the St. James Lutheran Church, 1148 Fourth St. S.E. in Mason City, with the Rev. David Anderson officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Mason City, with full Military Rites by the Mason City Memorial Association.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave. and one hour prior to services on Thursday at the church.

Ben was born on Oct. 6, 1925, in Leonard, Minn., the 8th of 11 children to Peter and Martha (Bodde) Kramer. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith.

When he was young, his family moved to Northwood then to Mason City where he attended Mason City Public Schools. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

On Jan. 1, 1947, Ben was united in marriage with Marlus Weaver at St. James Lutheran Church in Mason City by the Rev. Mall. Ben attended Milwaukee School of Engineering, graduating in 1948. After his graduation they returned to Mason City where he started Kramer Produce Trucking Line which he operated for more than 20 years. After retiring he enjoyed farming, golfing and spending winters in Arizona. He was an avid bowler and received the Bowler of the Year Award.

Ben was a member of St. James Lutheran Church and the V.F.W. Ben truly enjoyed his family and doing things with them.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, of 53 years, Marlus Kramer, of Mason City; six children, Martha Lynn Losee and her husband, Jon, of Mt. Hood, Ore., Kim A. Kramer, of Ames, Mark B. Kramer and his wife, Carol, of Mason City, Darcy Shear, of Plymouth, Mary Milton and her husband, Mark, of Lake Crystal, Minn., and Trina Kramer, of Mason City; 11 grandchildren, Shane and Chris Losee, Abbe Kramer, Cassie and Tanya Kramer, Frank and Jake Gomez, Tara Shear, Megan and McKinze Milton, and Colten Kramer; three sisters, Gertrude Oeltjenbruns, of Mason City, Lucy Ericson and her husband, Al, of Tucson, Ariz., and Betty Theesfeld, of Mason City; one brother, Gary Kramer and his wife, Elizabeth, of North Powder, Ore.; many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, five sisters, and one brother.
