EDITH M. OLSON

MASON CITY - Edith M. Olson, 82, of Mason City, died Thursday (March 30, 2000) at the I.O.O.F. Home in Mason City.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Hogan Bremer Colonial Chapel, 126 Third St. N.E., with the Rev. Paul Finger of St. Paul Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery in Mason City.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Hogan Bremer Chapel and will continue until service time on Monday.

Memorials may be directed to the Edith M. Olson Memorial Fund or to Hospice of North Iowa.

Edith M. Olson was born Sept. 9, 1917, in Mason City, daughter of Olof and Mathilda (Jackson) Olson. Edith was baptized on Jan. 2, 1918, and was confirmed on May 24, 1931, at Immanuel Lutheran Church.

Edith graduated from Mason City High School in 1935. She worked at Northwestern Bell Telephone Company for 44 years, retiring in 1980. She was a resident of the I.O.O.F. Home for the past three years.

She enjoyed traveling, shopping, local car trips, dining out and visiting with her friends.

She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and the Telephone Pioneers of America.

She is survived by many cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Johanna Nelson; and two brothers, Albin and Otto Olson.

CLETUS A. STALZER

WESLEY - Cletus A. Stalzer, 82, of Wesley, died Tuesday (March 28, 2000) at home.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Wesley. Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery with military graveside rites.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Garry-Roberts-Murphy-Schaaf Funeral Home in Wesley, with a rosary/prayer service at 5 p.m.

MANDELIAN I. GRANT

BRITT - Mandelian I. Grant, 87, of Britt, passed away Friday (March 31, 2000) at the Westview Care Center in Britt.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, with Father Marvin Bries officiating. Interment will be at St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery in Wesley.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Cataldo Funeral Home, 178 First Ave. S.W. in Britt, with a scriptural wake service at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour prior to services on Monday at the church.

Mandelian Irmeana Grant, the daughter of William and Theresia (Wirth) Foertsch, was born Dec. 25, 1912, at Wesley. She attended the rural schools near Wesley and worked on the family farm.

On April 27, 1938, she was married to Frank Wayne Grant at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Wesley. They farmed in the Kossuth County area until they moved into Britt in 1957. Mandelian worked from 1961 until 1976 as a cook and custodian at the Britt Elementary School.

She enjoyed her family, grandchildren, friends, traveling, crossword books and cards.

She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church and the Britt American Legion Auxiliary.

She is survived by her 10 children, Gerald Grant and his wife, Georgiann, of Nevada, William Grant and his wife, Joan, of Orlando, Fla., Joan Davis, of Iowa City, Karen Ingham, of Rockwell, Robert Grant and his wife, Vicki, of Latimer, David Grant and his wife, Lynne, of Clear Lake, Mary Cahalan, of River Falls, Wis., Thomas Grant and his wife, Kim, of Britt, Linda Tallon and her husband, Robert, of Cary, N.C. and Sandra Grant, of Iowa Falls; a daughter-in-law, Bonnie Telfer, of Jacksonville, N.C.; 26 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; six sisters, Sister Leon Foertsch, of Milwaukee, Wis., Imelda Heinen and her husband, Ferman, of Algona, Sister Dorothea Foertsch, of Milwaukee, Wis., Neomi Heinen and her husband, Bernard, of Madrid, Rose Mary Foertsch, of Wesley and Irene Kuyper and her husband, Lyle, of Algona; three brothers, William Foertsch, of Wesley, Edward Foertsch and his wife, Agnes, of Burt and John Foertsch, of Wesley; and a sister-in-law, Dorothy Foertsch, of West Bend; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank, in 1966; an infant son, David, in 1953; a son, Donald, in 1968; two grandsons, David Grant in 1964 and Michael Grant in 1988; her parents; two sisters, Angeline Foertsch and Marie Heinen; and a brother, George Foertsch.

BUFFALO CENTER - Grace Meyering, 86, of Buffalo Center, died Thursday (March 30, 2000) at the Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa in Mason City.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Buffalo Center, with the Rev. Gerald Dyste officiating. Burial will be in Olena Mound Cemetery in Buffalo Center.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Winter Funeral Home in Buffalo Center and one hour prior to services on Monday at the church.

HERBERT C. JOHNSON

CHARLES CITY - Herbert C. Johnson, 87, of 2038 March Ave., died Thursday (March 30, 2000) at home.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Trinity United Methodist Church in Charles City, with the Rev. Blair Rohde-Frank, pastor of the West Saint Charles United Methodist Church of rural Charles City, officiating, and assisted by the Rev. Beverly Biehr. Burial will be in the Riverside Cemetery in Charles City.

Visitation will be held from 3 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the Hauser Funeral Home, 1205 S. Main St., with the family present from 6:30 to 8 p.m. The St. Charles Masonic Lodge A.F. and A.M. will conduct a memorial service at 7:30 p.m. Sunday at Hauser Funeral Home. Visitation will continue from 9 to 11 a.m. Monday at the Hauser Funeral Home and an hour prior to services at the church.
