** Donna Fae Corbin

GRINNELL — Donna Fae Corbin, 59, died Wednesday (March 18, 1998) at home after a lengthy, courageous battle with cancer.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Grinnell Christian Church.

Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday at Smith Funeral Home, Grinnell.

Memorials may be given in Donna's name to the Grinnell Christian Church, Grinnell Regional Medical Center and the American Cancer Society.

Donna, daughter of H. Donald and Kathryn Lang Larsen, was born on Jan. 13, 1939, in Grinnell. She graduated with honors from Grinnell High School with the class of 1957.

She was united in marriage to Aaron C. Corbin at the Grinnell Christian Church on Nov. 18, 1960. During their early married years they resided in Des Moines and Clinton.

In 1972 they built a home and moved to Oakland Acres Golf Course. Donna was employed in the Pro Shop at Oakland Acres Golf Club from 1977 to 1986.

In 1986 she joined the Human Resource Department at Grinnell Regional Medical Center. Her declining health forced her to take a disability retirement in January, l998.

Donna was a charter member of the Grinnell Christian Church and was the first church organist. She was a member of the Women's Fellowship and Circle and the Grinnell Regional Medical Center Auxiliary.

She enjoyed being "Blossum" the clown and making craft projects. She loved spending time with her family. Donna will be remembered for being a Christian example to others, a loving wife and mother, and a great friend to many.

She is survived by her husband, Aaron, of Grinnell; her son and daughterinlaw, Michael and Ronda Corbin, of Fairfield, Ohio; two daughters and sonsinlaw, Cheryl and Matthew Ver Steeg, of West Des Moines, and Cathy and Terry Fraker, of Lynnville; two grandchildren, Katie Corbin, of Fairfield, Ohio, and Connor Fraker, of Lynnville; two stepgrandchildren, Katie and Stephanie Ver Steeg, of Carlisle; her mother, Kathryn Larsen, of Grinnell; one brother, Dale Larsen, of Grinnell; and two sisters, Lucille Green, of Grinnell, and Kay Rader, of Mason City.

She was preceded in death by her father, H. Donald Larsen, and one daughter, Marsha Kay Corbin.

** Marne Kaye Lewerke

BRITT — Marne Kaye Lewerke, 38, formerly of Britt, passed away Wednesday (March 18, 1998) at her home in Prescott Valley, Ariz.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Church of The Nazarene, Britt, with the Rev. Mitchell Sanderson officiating. Interment will be in the Evergreen Cemetery, Britt.

The family will greet friends one hour prior to services on Monday at the church.

The Ewing Funeral Home, Britt, is in charge of arrangements.

Marne, the daughter of Jerry and Darlene "Pat" Rapp Lewerke, was born Dec. 3, 1959, in Britt, Iowa. She attended school in Garner, graduating from the Garner High School in 1978. She then attended NIACC, graduating in 1981, with a Registered Nursing Degree.

She worked for a time at North Iowa Mercy Hospital before moving to Arizona in 1986. She then worked as head nurse at the Yavapai County Jail.

Marne enjoyed doing crafts and sewing. She was an active member of the Prescott Valley Christian Church.

Marne is survived by her two sons, Brandon and Tyler Lage, of Prescott Valley, Ariz.; her father and stepmother, Jerry and Susan Lewerke, of Crystal Lake, Iowa; two brothers, Mark and his wife, Jo Ann, of Britt, and Rich and his wife, Lynda, of Garner; three sisters, Tina Summers and her husband, Mitch, of Goodell; Traci Torgerson and her husband, Cody, of Prescott Valley, Ariz.; Teri Lewerke, of Clarion; two stepsisters, Andrea Imel, of Standfield, Ariz.; and Shannon Imel, of Crystal Lake, Iowa; one stepbrother, Eric Imel, of Phoenix, Ariz.; her maternal grandmother, Esther Rapp, of Garner; and her paternal grandparents, Pete and Viola Lewerke, of Garner.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Darlene "Pat" on Jan. 10, 1992.

** H. Irene Nelson

KENSETT — H. Irene Nelson, 90, of Kensett, died Friday (March 20, 1998) at the Good Shepherd Health Center, Mason City.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 23, at the Elk Creek Lutheran Church, rural Kensett, with the Rev. Selmer G. "Sam" Hernes officiating. Burial will be in the Elk Creek Lutheran Church Cemetery, rural Kensett.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. on Sunday at the Conner Colonial Chapel, 9911th St. S., Northwood, and one hour prior to time of services on Monday at the church.

H. Irene Nelson was born on Oct. 29, 1907, in rural Danville Township near Hanlontown, the daughter of Herman and Ida (Storrie) Domholdt.

She was baptized and reaffirmed the faith of her baptism through confirmation at the Concordia Lutheran Church, rural Joice.

She attended and received her education in the rural Danville Township school system and for a short time until her mother's death, attended Hanlontown High School. After her mother's death, she stayed at home to care for her father, brothers and one sister.

She was united in marriage to Paul Nelson on Sept. 20, 1934, at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Mason City. He preceded her in death on Feb. 9, 1988. After their marriage together they farmed in the Danville Township area and later farmed in the Brookfield Township area until moving to Kensett in 1980. In July of 1997, she moved to the Viking Manor in Northwood.

She enjoyed baking, embroidering and flowers, especially African Violets.

She was a member of Elk Creek Lutheran Church and was very active in the Ladies Aid and Church Circle.

Survivors include two daughters, Ilyce Stumo and her husband, Gene, of Northwood and Ann Baker and her husband, Thomas, of Wayzata, Minn.; five grandchildren, Scott Stumo and his wife, ChloeAnn, of Northwood, Donavon Stumo and his wife, Ann Marie, of Northwood, Dan Stumo, of Northwood, Gregory Baker, of Wayzata, Minn., and CPL. Michael Baker (U.S.M.C.) of Kansas City, Mo.; two stepgrandchildren, Jessica Beyer, Northwood, and Nikki Nicholson, Minneapolis, Minn.; four greatgrandchildren, Jaime Stumo, of Dallas, Texas, Keith Stumo, of Northwood, Kyle Stumo, of Northwood, and Shelby Stumo, of Northwood; one sister, Mavis Seidel and her husband, Frank, of Kensett; four sistersinlaw, Cora Domholdt, of Minneapolis, Minn., Lillian Domholdt, of Minneapolis, Minn., Maxine Nelson, of Rochester, Minn., and Alyce Nelson, of Northwood; as well as several nieces and nephews as well as other relatives and friends.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Selma Midtgaard; and two brothers, Olaf and Alvin Domholdt.

** Thomas Edward Moe Sr

ALGONA — Thomas Edward Moe Sr., 69, of Algona, died Thursday (March 19, 1998) at home.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the St. Cecelia Catholic Church, Algona, with the Rev. Steve Broderson officiating. Interment will be in the Calvary Cemetery, with military rites by the Hagg Turner Post #90 American Legion, of Algona.

Visitation will begin at 2:30 p.m. Monday at the GarryRobertsMurphySchaaf Funeral Home, Algona, with a parish Rosary at 3 p.m., and parish prayer services at 7 p.m. There will be a family prayer service at 10 a.m. Tuesday.

Thomas Edward Moe Sr. was born Dec. 10, 1928, in Algona.

Survivors include his wife, Patricia, Algona; children, Nancy Braunstein, Newark, Calif.; Helen Marie Moe, Santa Ana, Calif.; Pam Groo, Vernal, Utah; Terry McFarland, Spencer; Mary Ihde, Russellville, Ark.; Bruce Moe, Algona; Rick Moe, Lawton, Okla.; Ralph Moe and Danny Moe, both of Algona; 17 grandchildren; and one greatgrandchild; one sister, Mary Gaynon, Anderson, Calif.; and one brother, Richard Moe, Algona.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, one grandchild, two greatgrandchildren and two sisters.

** Joe E. Garcia

IOWA FALLS — Joe E. Garcia, 76, of Iowa Falls, died Friday (March 20, 1998) at the Mercy Medical Center, Des Moines.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Saint Mark's Catholic Church, Iowa Falls, with the Rev. Phillip Schmitt officiating. Interment will be in Saint Mark's Cemetery, with military honors by HymanPeavey American Legion Post #188, Iowa Falls.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Linn's Funeral Home, 1521 Washington Ave., Iowa Falls, with a Scripture service at 7:30 p.m. followed by a Benevolent and Protective Order of Elk memorial service at 8 p.m.

Joe Garcia was born Oct. 2, 1921, in Mason City.

Survivors include his wife, Sharon Garcia, of Iowa Falls; one daughter, Marilynne D. Garcia, Iowa Falls; three sons, Dennis S. Garcia, Dubuque; Bruce Campbell, of Des Moines; and Bryan Campbell, of Boelus, Neb.; seven grandchildren; four greatgrandchildren; two sisters, Della Hugi and Mary Rick, of Mason City; and one brother, Frank Garcia, Mason City.

He was preceded was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.

** Sterling Simonson

WHITTEMORE — Sterling Simonson, 82, of Whittemore, died Thursday (March 19, 1998) at the Kossuth Regional Health Center, Algona.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. today at the St. Paul Lutheran Church, Whittemore, with the Rev. Lyle Hansen officiating. Interment will be in St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery.

Visitation was held from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday at GarryRobertsMurphySchaaf Funeral Home, Whittemore. There will be further visitation from 9:30 a.m. to noon today at the funeral home, and after 12:30 p.m. at the church.

Sterling Simonson was born June 15, 1915, at Rolfe.

Survivors include his wife, Helen, of Whittemore; children, Stanley Simonson, Whittemore; Shirley Ludwig, of Newhall, Calif.; Sidney Simonson, Stuart Simonson, and Simon Simonson, all of Whittemore; and Sheree Bird, of Algona; 21 grandchildren; 17 greatgrandchildren; and one sister, Agnes Markham, Blooming Prairie, Minn.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, two grandsons and one brother.

** Ruth Diggins

HAMPTON — Ruth Diggins, 97, of Hampton, died Friday (March 20, 1998) at the Franklin General Hospital, Hampton.

A remembrance service will be held at 2 p.m. today at the Hampton Senior Citizen Center.

There will be no visitation. Ruth's body was donated to science. Sietsema Vogel Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Ruth Diggins was born Nov. 10, 1900, in Rhodes.

Survivors include one son, Dr. Dean Diggins, of Kittery, Maine.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and one sister.

** Mildred Loretta Kesler

SCARVILLE — Mildred Loretta Kesler, 49, of Scarville, died Thursday (March 19, 1998) at St. Mary's Hospital, Rochester, Minn.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at the Calvary Baptist Church, Forest City, with the Rev. Doug Ferrell officiating. Interment will be in the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, Scarville.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the Mittelstadt Funeral Home, Lake Mills, and one hour prior to services on Monday at the church in Forest City.

Mildred Loretta Kesler was born April 22, 1948, in Mason City.

Survivors include her husband, Willard Kesler, of Scarville; daughter, Julie Schonrock, Ellendale, Minn.; two sons, Joseph Kesler, Scarville, and James Kesler, Lake Mills; one granddaughter; two brothers, John Aanrud, of Rapid City, S.D., and Merle Aanrud, of Thompson.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother.

** George Ricke

WESLEY — George Ricke, 86, of Wesley, died Tuesday (March 17, 1998) at the Algona Manor Care Center.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. today at the St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Wesley, with the Rev. Paul Bormann officiating. Interment will be in St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery.

Visitation was held from 2:30 to 8:30 p.m. Friday at the GarryRobertsMurphySchaaf Funeral Home, Wesley, with a 3 p.m. Rosary and a 7:30 p.m. parish prayer service.

George Ricke was born May 13, 1911, in Wesley.

Survivors include four sons, Richard Ricke, of Grand Meadow, Minn., Dean Ricke, of Garner, Bob Ricke, of Cedar Park, Texas; and Ronald Ricke, Algona; and three daughters, Joan Vitzthum, of Wesley, Pat Frideres, of Gardner, Ill., and Janice Schumacher, of Algona; 38 grandchildren; and 51 greatgrandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, one grandchild, two sisters and nine brothers.

** Dorothy C. Weiland

GREENE — Dorothy C. Weiland, 91, of 611 West Traer, died Friday (March 20, 1998) at the Salsbury Baptist Home.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the First Presbyterian Church, Greene, with the Rev. Galen Smith officiating. Burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 3 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Reid's Funeral Chapel, Greene, with a 7 p.m. public Scripture service. There will be further visitation one hour prior to services on Monday at the church.

Dorothy C. Weiland was born Aug. 26, 1906, in rural Jackson Township, Butler County.

Survivors include her husband, John Weiland, Greene; two daughters, June Johnson, Greene, and Sharon Agnitsch, Mason City; six grandchildren; eight greatgrandchildren; four sisters, Mildred Kruse, Allison, Velma Bochmann, Waverly, Ruth Hummel, Allison, and Maxine Hoodjer, Clarksville; and one brother, Glenn Allan, San Antonio, Fla.

She was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers and one grandson.

MARBLE ROCK — Arthur A. Asmussen, 79, of 211 Railroad St., died Thursday (March 19, 1998) at the North Iowa Mercy Health Center, Mason City.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Reid's Funeral Chapel, Marble Rock, with the Rev. John Albrecht of St. Paul's Lutheran Church of Marble Rock officiating. Interment will be in Hillside Cemetery, with a flag presentation by Stroud Gates Post 387 American Legion of Greene.

There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place.

Arthur A. Asmussen was born on Jan. 25, 1919, in Lawton.

Survivors include his good friend and companion, Marge Heft, of Marble Rock; a daughter, Janet Collister, of San Dimas, Calif.; one son, Jerry Asmussen, of Rochester, Minn.; six grandchildren; 10 greatgrandchildren; three sisters, Evelyn Engh, Dorothy McGuire, and Frances Lillie, all of Sioux City; and one brother, John Asmussen, of Tucson, Ariz.

He was preceded in death by his wife, parents and two brothers.

** Endre O. Bendickson

LAKE MILLS — Endre O. Bendickson, 82, died Saturday (March 21, 1998) at the Lake Mills Care Center.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete at Mittelstadt Funeral Home.

** Arthur A. Asmussen

MARBLE ROCK — Memorial services for Arthur A. Asmussen, 79, of 211 Railroad St., will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Reid's Funeral Chapel with Pastor John Albrecht of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, officiating. Interment will be in the Hillside Cemetery. Flag presentation by Stroud Gates Post 387 American Legion of Greene.

There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place.

Arthur A. Asmussen was born Jan. 25, 1919, in Lawton, a son of John and Marie (Harkreader) Asmussen, and died Thursday (March 19, 1998) at North Iowa Mercy Health Center, Mason City, from complications of surgery.

He received his education and graduated from the Sioux City Central High School. He was united in marriage to Genevieve Sandvold on May 10, 1941, in Sioux City. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps on March 11, 1942, serving in the South Pacific. Following his discharge on Oct. 19, 1945, he started farming in the Aredale and Marble Rock area.

Art was manager of the Marble Rock Coop Elevator from 1952 to 1969, and then worked as manager for various elevators throughout the Midwest until 1978, when he moved to Chatfield, Minn., where he managed the Chatfield Motor Mart for his son. In 1988, he moved to Marble Rock where he was engaged as a farm manager.

He was a member of Cornerstone Lodge 251 A.F. & A.M. of Marble Rock, former member of the Marble Rock Lions Club, and as a pasttime he enjoyed fishing, gardening and was an avid sports enthusiast.

Living family members include his good friend and companion, Marge Heft of Marble Rock; a daughter, Janet Collister of San Dimas, Calif.; a son, Jerry and his wife, Sandra Asmussen, of Rochester, Minn.; six grandchildren, Rhonda, Jeff, Renee, Scott, Sheila and Amy; 10 greatgrandchildren; three sisters, Evelyn Engh, Dorothy McGuire, and Frances Lillie, all of Sioux City; and one brother, John Asmussen of Tucson, Ariz.

He was preceded in death by his wife on Nov. 2, 1983; parents; and two brothers, Dick and Don Asmussen.

** Irene M. Gaiser

ROCKFORD — Irene M. Gaiser, 82, died Thursday (March 19, 1998) at Heritage Care Center, Mason City.

Funeral services are tentatively set for Tuesday at Zion Lutheran Church.

The family will greet friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at Schumburg Funeral Home, Marble Rock.

** Loetta Curran Martin

TUCSON, Ariz. — Loetta Curran Martin, 82, beloved wife and mother, passed away on Friday (March 13, 1998).

A memorial service was held on Monday, March 16, 1998, at the First United Methodist Church in Tucson with the Rev. David Devereaux officiating.

She is survived by her husband, Dr. S Clark Martin of Tucson; one son, Lee Martin (Dyan) of Orange, Calif.; one daughter, Gretta Boshara (Robert) of Houston, Texas; three brothers, Leigh Curran, Benjamin Curran and Charles Curran, all of Mason City; two sisters, Blanche Fiedler of Moline, Ill., and Lucile Cannon of San Diego, Calif.; and three grandchildren, Kimberly Boshara of New York City, N.Y., Stuart Martin and Karlina Martin, both of Orange, Calif..

Mrs. Martin was preceded in death by one brother, Lester Curran, and one sister, Grace Whisler.

Loetta was an active member of the First United Methodist Church where she and her husband met in 1943, as members of the Carillon Class. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Sept. 10, 1994. She was a member of the University of Arizona Faculty Wives, and an auxillian at Tucson Medical Center for nearly 30 years. Mrs. Martin was born in Mason City on June 18, 1915. She received her Bachelor of arts degree from Iowa State Teachers College, pursued graduate studies in Iowa, and at the University of Southern California. She taught English, speech and drama in Iowa before moving to Tucson to teach at Safford Junior High School in 1943. She will be remembered for her love of people, especially children, flowers, birds and literature.

Adair Funeral Home in Tucson was in charge of arrangements.

** Dorothy C. Weiland

GREENE — Funeral services for Dorothy C. Weiland, 91, of 611 West Traer, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the First Presbyterian Church with Pastor Galen Smith officiating. Burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 3 to 8 p.m. today at Reid's Funeral Chapel, where there will be a public scripture service at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue Monday at the church one hour before services.

Dorothy Christina Allan was born Aug. 26, 1906, in rural Jackson Township, Butler County, the eldest daughter of William and Clara (Renning) Allan, and died Friday (March 20, 1998) at the Salsbury Baptist Home of heart failure.

She received her education in the rural Jackson Township Schools and attended the Allison High School. As a young lady she helped many area families with housework and child care. On Jan. 10, 1934, she was united in marriage to John Ralph Weiland, a young farmer of Bristow, at the Associated Church Parsonage in Allison. They made their home on his farm four miles north of Bristow, where they lived for 54 years. To this union was born two daughters. Dorothy assisted John in the farming operation and took great pride in her flock of chickens and gardens. Following their retirement they moved into Greene in October 1988.

Although confined to her home the last few years, she kept up with the activities of the community and her church. She enjoyed the visits from her neighbors and friends.

Dorothy and John attended the First Reformed Church for many years, where she served various offices in the Ladies Guild, and was a Sunday school teacher. After moving into Greene, they became members of the First Presbyterian Church. She was a 4H leader for many years. Her interests included tatting and embroidery, which she learned at the age of nine. She also enjoyed playing the piano.

Those left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 64 years, John Weiland of Greene; two daughters, June and her husband, Dale Johnson, of Greene, and Sharon Agnitsch of Mason City; six grandchildren, Lana Clark, Nathan and his wife, Dana Smith, Rodney Smith, Krista Agnitsch, Ann and her husband, David Marsh, and Craig and his wife, Anne Johnson; eight greatgrandchildren, Courtney Agnitsch, Stacey Franken, Christopher Franken, Alissa Clark, Daniel Marsh, Laura Marsh, Connor Smith, and Alexander Johnson; four sisters, Mildred Kruse of Allison, Velma Bochmann of Waverly, Ruth Hummel of Allison, and Maxine and her husband, Chris Hoodjer of Clarksville; one brother, Glenn and his wife, Marilyn Allan of San Antonio, Fla.; one brotherinlaw, Paul and his wife, Betty Weiland of Bristow; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers, William, Clyde, Carl, Raymond, and Donald; and one grandson, Kevin Agnitsch.

CHAPIN — Mae A. Koppen, 60, died Saturday (March 21, 1998) at her home.

** Helen Gertrude Harris

MASON CITY — Helen Gertrude Harris, 87, went to heaven at 8 a.m. Saturday (March 21, 1998) at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit.

A service to celebrate her life will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at HoganBremer Colonial Chapel, 126 Third St. N.E., with the Rev. Jerry Hull, pastor of Mason City Baptist Church, officiating. Following services her body will be donated to the University of Minnesota for scientific purposes.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral chapel and will continue on Tuesday until the service time.

Helen Gertrude Harris was born March 19, 1911, in Williamsport, Penn., the daughter of Robert and Mary Ellen (Greenlow) Fenstemacher. Helen was the youngest of eight children. She was raised in a Christian home. At the age of 13, Helen's mother died. Her family then moved to Abingdon, Va.

She was married to George Wesley Harris on Jan. 4, 1930, in Bristol, Tenn. Helen worked as a nurses assistant in Maranatha Baptist Nursing Home in Minneapolis, Minn. She loved caring for the elderly. She enjoyed her grandchildren and loved to travel to visit her family.

Helen never failed to direct her children to a life lived for Jesus. She lead a Godly life and each of her children called her blessed. Her grandchildren also were blessed by her testimony. She never failed to give God the glory through her entire life.

OSAGE — Kent D. Kubicek, 47, of Joplin, Mo., formerly of Osage, died Friday (March 20, 1998) at St. John's Regional Medical Center in Joplin of natural causes.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Osage, with Father Philip Recker officiating. Cremation will follow the service. Inurnment will be in St. Peters Cemetery in New Haven.

Kent was born Jan. 28, 1951, at Osage, the son of Dale "Pete" and Donna (Green) Kubicek. He graduated from Osage High School in 1969. Kent married Debby Christofferson on Jan. 24, 1981, at St. Ansgar. He moved to Joplin six years ago from Clovis, Calif. After receiving his certificate of apprenticeship in 1974, he became a journeyman carpenter and millwright. He worked for DaltonKillinger Construction Company of Joplin as a construction superintendent. He was a member of Carpenters Union Local 311, and St. Mary's Catholic Church, both in Joplin.

Survivors include his wife, Debby of Joplin; three sons, Kane Kubicek of Cedar Rapids, Lonny Fiala of Mason City, and Taylor Kubicek at home; three daughters, Stacy Borcherding and her husband, Bob, of Waterloo, Jenny Krachmer and her husband, Shaun, of Austin, Minn., and Kari Kubicek of Rochester, Minn; two grandchildren; his parents, Dale "Pete" and Donna Kubicek of Osage; maternal grandmother, Marjorie Green of Osage; a sister, Clare Smith and her husband, Richard, of Clovis, Calif.; and a brother, Clay Kubicek and his wife, Jeanne, of Joplin, Mo.

Lois Jeanne (Greimann) Mayne was born July 6, 1958, in Hampton, the daughter of Milo J. and Burnice (Petheram) Greimann of Chapin. She was baptized and confirmed in the Zion St. John Lutheran Church of Sheffield. She graduated from the SheffieldChapin High School in 1976. On Aug. 4, 1979, she married Gregory J. Mayne of Harlan. She attended the University of Northern Iowa, where she graduated in 1983 with a Bachelor of arts degree in social work. She continued her studies and in 1986, she received from UNI a Masters of arts degree in counseling. After receiving her degrees, she worked at Goodwill Industries of Northeast Iowa as a case manager and place specialist. She then spent five years as the social worker at Winsor Nursing and Rehab Center of Cedar Falls. Most recently, she was employed by APAC Teleservices of Waterloo as a customer service representative. In addition, she served for four years on the Waterloo Human Rights Commission.

Survivors include her husband and three children, Stephanie, Ian and Elizabeth. Other survivors include her parents; brothers, Donald Greimann and his wife, Alice, of rural Hampton, and Dale Greimann and his wife, Peggy, of Independence; and four nieces.

Lois was preceded in death by a baby brother.

Inez and Jim lived at various locations in the United States while he worked as a forester for the United States Government, and later serving in the armed forces. In 1947, the family moved to Marble Rock, where Jim taught in the Marble Rock Public School, and Inez worked as a secretary to the superintendent and helped with the makeup for the plays and Christmas pageants for 25 years. She was also the sponsor for the Hi Teens, a high school girls club.

She was a member of Nashua Chapter 218 Order of the Eastern Star, where she held several positions in that order, and a member of the United Methodist Church in Marble Rock.

Living family members include her son, David and his wife, Mary, of Dubuque; soninlaw, William Burcham of Seattle, Wash.; and two granddaughters, Abigail of Iowa City, and Daphne of Clinton.

She was preceded in death by her husband on Aug. 24, 1997; her parents; and daughter, Lynne, in 1990.

He was married to Julia May on June 25, 1940, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Meyer. Joseph was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Adams, and the Knights of Columbus.

Dorothy Christina Allan was born Aug. 26, 1906, in rural Jackson Township, Butler County, the eldest daughter of William and Clara (Renning) Allan, and died Friday (March 20, 1998) at the Salsbury Baptist Home of heart failure.

She received her education in the rural Jackson Township schools and attended the Allison High School. As a young lady she helped many area families with housework and child care.

On Jan. 10, 1934, she was united in marriage to John Ralph Weiland, a young farmer of Bristow, at the Associated Church parsonage in Allison. They made their home on his farm four miles north of Bristow, where they lived for 54 years. To this union was born two daughters. Dorothy assisted John in the farming operation and took great pride in her flock of chickens and gardens. Following their retirement they moved into Greene in October 1988.

Although confined to her home the last few years, she kept up with the activities of the community and her church. She enjoyed the visits from her neighbors and friends.

Dorothy and John attended the First Reformed Church for many years, where she served in various offices of the Ladies Guild and was a Sunday school teacher. After moving into Greene, they became members of the First Presbyterian Church. She was a 4-H leader for many years. Her interests included tatting and embroidery, which she learned at the age of nine. She also enjoyed to play the piano.

Those left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 64 years, John Weiland of Greene; two daughters, June and her husband, Dale Johnson, of Greene, and Sharon Agnitsch of Mason City; six grandchildren, Lana Clark, Nathan and his wife, Dana Smith, Rodney Smith, Krista Agnitsch, Ann and her husband, David Marsh, and Craig and his wife, Anne Johnson; eight great-grandchildren, Courtney Agnitsch, Stacey Franken, Christopher Franken, Alissa Clark, Daniel Marsh, Laura Marsh, Connor Smith, and Alexander Johnson; four sisters, Mildred Kruse of Allison, Velma Bochmann of Waverly, Ruth Hummel of Allison and Maxine and her husband, Chris Hoodjer of Clarksville; one brother, Glenn, and his wife, Marilyn Allan of San Antonio, Fla.; one brother-in-law, Paul, and his wife, Betty Weiland of Bristow; and many nieces and nephews.

Mae was born on Oct. 14, 1937, in Iowa City, the daughter of Merle Edward and Alma Rose (Pitzrich) Burt. She attended school in Mason City and was very proud when she received her diploma by GED in May of 1975.

She was united in marriage to Parker F. Koppen on June 17, 1955, in Northwood. To this union were born five children. They lived in Britt from 1955 until 1958. They lived in the Rockwell area until 1971, when they moved to Chapin, and had lived there ever since.

Mae and Parker received a surprise anniversary card from President Reagan on their 25th anniversary which she loved to show everyone. She was an active member of the Hampton Senior Citizens and the Audubon Society. She also enjoyed playing a good game of "500" and solitaire cards, playing Bingo at many North Iowa halls and taking bus tours in Iowa, Wisconsin and the Ozarks. She planted flower gardens and took her flowers, her cooking and baking dishes to the fair where she consistently placed first or second. During their years of farming she took an active role in raising the livestock.

Mae leaves her loving husband of 42 years, Parker; one daughter, Sandra, and her husband, Gary Shurtleff, Holyoke, Colo.; four sons, Sy, Clear Lake, Everett and his wife, Barb, Des Moines, Frank, of Swaledale, and Merle, of Lakota; four grandchildren, Jenna, Tawny and Lacy Jo Shurtleff and Antony Koppen; two great-grandchildren, Andrew and Dylan Stout; and one brother, Charles, and his wife, Rose Burt, Mason City.

She was proceeded in death by her parents.

Mildred Jeanette Kinseth was born on Aug. 7, 1906, in rural Bode, Iowa, to Christian and Baeta (Olson) Kinseth. She died Monday (March 23, 1998) at Floyd County Memorial Hospital in Charles City of complications of age.

She received her education at Bode High School, graduating in 1923. She later graduated from Waldorf College in Forest City. She taught public school in Melvin, Iowa, and later in Marble Rock where she met Walter F. Bohl.

They were married on June 11, 1935, at her parents’ home in Bode. They made their home in Belmond, Iowa, and to this union were born twin daughters. In 1939, the family moved to Marble Rock. She prepared income tax returns for people in her home in the Marble Rock area for many years.

She was a charter member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Marble Rock and church treasurer for many years. She also was active in the church circle. She was a member of the Bridge Club and Senior Citizens.

Mildred was gifted with a talent for singing which she enjoyed doing, but most of all, she enjoyed living for her daughters and their families.

Living family members include her two daughters, Marilyn Bohl, of Alameda, Calif., and Arline and her husband, C.J. "Mike" Walter, of Long Beach, Calif.; two grandchildren, Lance, of San Francisco, Calif., and Angela Walter, of Chicago, Ill.; and one sister, Agnes Roberts, of Belmond.

She was preceded in death by her husband on Sept. 6, 1984; parents; seven sisters, Laura Enger, Maunda Mitszen, Cora Parsons, Mina Kinseth, Ruth Dougherty, Hilda Selvik, Othelia Pederson; and twin brothers, Edwin and Emil Kinseth; and brother, Theodore Kinseth.

Isadore was a faithful member of the United Methodist Church in Greene where she belonged to the church circle there. Her interest included needle and crewel work and playing bridge.

OSAGE — Grace I. Havig, 85, of Osage, died Sunday (March 22, 1998) at Mitchell County Regional Health Center in Osage, of natural causes.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Osage, with the Rev. Dennis Hanson and the Rev. Roy Ott officiating. Burial will be in the Osage Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Champion Funeral Home in Osage, and one hour prior to services on Wednesday at the church.

Grace Ione Havig was born May 20, 1912, near Osage, the daughter of Frederick and Ida (Hartwig) Havig. She attended rural schools until the fifth grade and continued her education in the Osage schools and graduated from Osage High School and was class valedictorian.

Being skilled in the field of office and secretarial duties, she worked in several Osage offices and did volunteer work.

Grace gave many years of service, typing and keeping records for her church. She also taught Sunday school at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church for many years.

She enjoyed reading and crossword puzzles. High on her list of activities was corresponding with family members and keeping up with world and local news.

She had been a resident of Osage Rehabilitation & Health Care Center in Osage for the past 13 years.

She is survived by four sisters, Dorothy Fleenor, of Osage; Leona Richards and her husband, Glenn, of Carpenter; June Jahnel and her husband, Jim, New Haven; and Fern Hughes and her husband, Jim, of Riceville; one brother, Melbourne Havig and his wife, Hattie, of Osage; and 30 nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Arnold in infancy, Alton "Swede" Havig and Everett Havig; and one nephew.

** Rose A. Kittleson

MASON CITY — Rose A. Kittleson, 76, of 254 21st St. S. E., died Sunday (March 22, 1998) at her home surrounded by her family.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church, 2502 S. Jefferson Ave., with the Rev. Joel Dahlen officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Mason City.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Hogan-Bremer Colonial Chapel, 126 Third St. N.E., and one hour prior to services on Wednesday at the church.

Rose A. Kittleson was born Feb. 24, 1922, at Mason City, the daughter of Bill and Carrie (Hartman) Niles.

She had been married to LaVerne "Bud" Kittleson.

Rose enjoyed traveling, was an excellent cook, loved to bake, and especially loved dancing. She also enjoyed visiting with people — anyone, anywhere.

She was a generous, kind hard-working person with a very strong faith. She also was well known for her positive nature and upbeat outlook on life. She demonstrated great courage in the face of her illness.

She was a member of Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church since 1953, and was involved in many of the activities of the church.

Those left to cherish her memory are two children, Judy Severson and her husband, Richard, of Powers, Mich.; and Mark Kittleson and his fiancee, Roylene, Rock Falls; five grandchildren, Joshua Kittleson, Eric and Preston Despenas, all of Rock Falls; Tiffany Severson-Brown and her husband, Ron, Ypsilanti, Mich.; and Weston Severson, of Powers, Mich.; one brother, Art Niles, Charles City; four sisters, Shirley Carlson and her husband, Roger, Mary Climer and her husband, Walter, Viola Jermeland and her husband, Willie, and Irene Govern, all of Mason City; one sister-in-law, Ann Niles, Mason City; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and one brother, Carl.

LIME SPRINGS — Patsy A. Jordan, 61, of Saratoga, died Tuesday (March 24, 1998) at Regional Health Services Hospital in Cresco of cancer.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at First Lutheran Church in Cresco. Burial will be in the West Side Cemetery at Marble Rock.

Friends may call from 4 until 8 p.m. today at the Conway Funeral Home in Cresco, and one hour prior to services on Thursday at the church.

Patsy was born on Jan. 26, 1937, at Marble Rock, the daughter of Arthur and Grace Kielsmeier.

Patsy was dietary manager at Regional Health Services Hospital in Cresco.

Survivors include her husband, Edward; one daughter, Judy Bradbury, of Mason City; two sons, Dennis DeBettigneis, of Sheffield, and Mike DeBettigneis, of Charles City; three grandchildren; her mother, Grace Kielsmeier, of Marble Rock; one brother, Norman Kielsmeier, of Rudd; and one sister, Wilma Smith, of Des Moines.

She was preceded in death by her father, Arthur Kielsmeier.

Anna was born March 4, 1905, in Rockwell.

Anna is survived by her daughter, Ruth Ward, of Clear Lake, S.D.; one sister, Emma Kitch, of Carroll; six grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren; and five great-great grandchildren.

Anna was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one son, two brothers and one sister.
