** M. Wilma Oeltjenbrun

MASON CITY — Wilma Oeltjenbrun, 78, of 1737 Hillcrest Drive, Mason City, died Monday (Aug. 17, 1998) at the Columbia Rio Grande Regional Hospital, McAllen, Texas.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Trinity Lutheran Church, 213 N. Pennsylvania Ave., with the Rev. Kenneth Hatland officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Mason City.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave., Mason City.

Memorials may be given to the Wilma Oeltjenbrun Memorial Fund.

Wilma was born June 9, 1920, in Lake Mills, Iowa, the daughter of William and Minnie (Hauge) Osland.

She married Harold C. Oeltjenbrun on Nov. 26, 1941, in Albert Lea, Minn.

The Oeltjenbruns farmed southeast of Mason City for many years. They had been wintering in Texas for more than 20 years.

Wilma was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, enjoyed gardening, flowers and spending time with her family.

She was strong 'til the very end, always having hope.

Wilma is survived by her husband, Harold C. Oeltjenbrun, of Mason City; children, Bonnie Anderson and her husband, Harold, of Goodell, Iowa, Sharon Calender and her husband, Randy, of Charles City, and Larry Oeltjenbrun and his wife, Jean, of Branson West, Mo.; grandchildren, Dennis Anderson, Michael and Michelle Calender, Rhonda and Bryan Oeltjenbrun and Andy Bratrud; one great-grandchild, Austin Jackson; and one sister, Carma Hall and her husband, Frank, of Mason City.

Wilma was preceded in death by her parents.

** M. Adelaide Whalen

ST. PAUL, Minn. — M. Adelaide Davey, daughter of former Mason City, Iowa, Mayor Leo A. and Florence Davey, was born Nov. 19, 1911, and died Friday (Aug. 14, 1998) in St. Paul, Minn.

A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 22, at St. Leo's Catholic Church, 2055 Bohland Ave., St. Paul.

First Memorial Waterston Chapel, 4343 Nicollet Ave., Minneapolis, is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials are preferred to the St. Mary's Home Alzheimer's Unit in St. Paul.

Her collegiate days were spent at the College of St. Catherine and Alpha Chi Omega Sorority at the University of Minnesota. She graduated in commercial education and French, followed by graduate study at Columbia University. Her first teaching position was at Glencoe High School, where she met her husband.

Adelaide married Thomas J. Whalen on June 19, 1939. They began their life together building their home in St. Paul's Highland Village.

They were charter members of St. Leo the Great Catholic Church. She was involved in AAUW Deanery Women, St. Catherine's and St. Eleanor's Guild.

The summer of 1967, they moved to the San Diego area. Adelaide was again involved with local interests. She was very active in developing the CCD program at their parish of St. James in Solana Beach. Her involvement was from parish level to the diocesan organizations with appointments by Bishop Leo Maher.

She is survived by her four children, Ann (Timothy) Gagnon, of Tampa, Fla; Michael (Amy) Whalen, of Denver, Colo.; Mary Elizabeth (Michael) Baird, of Islamorade, Fla.; and Thomas Joseph Jr. (Sarah), of Denver, Colo.; and her seven grandchildren, ranging in age from 37 to 2. The title of great-grandmother to four was a source of great joy to her.

Adelaide was preceded in death by her parents, Leo and Florence Davey; her brother, Jerome Davey, of South Bend, Ind.; and her husband, Thomas Whalen Sr., who died in 1978.

** Carl Vincent Froehlich

WESLEY — Carl Vincent Froehlich, 90, died Wednesday (Aug. 19, 1998) at the Algona Manor.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph Catholic Church with the Rev. Paul Bormann officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will begin at 2:30 p.m. today at the Garry-Roberts-Murphy-Schaaf Funeral Home, Wesley, where a C.D. of A. Rosary will be held at 3 p.m., and a parish prayer service at 7:30 p.m.

Carl Vincent Froehlich was born Aug. 1, 1908, at Fletcher, Ill.

Survivors include his children, Madonna Foote of Thiensville, Wis., Ruth Mary Grein of Algona, Carl W. Froehlich of Wichita, Kan., Leonard Froehlich of Lee's Summitt, Mo., Marilyn Cockrell of Forest City, and Michael Froehlich of Monona; 16 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Marie Ricke of Williams, and Helen Huber of Algona; and one brother, Edward W. Froehlich of Pensacola, Fla.

Carl was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, one son, one brother, one grandson and two great-grandchildren.

** James R. Jenkins

BUFFALO CENTER —James R. Jenkins, 80, of 209 Third St. N.W., Buffalo Center, formerly of Mason City, died Thursday (Aug. 20, 1998) at Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave., Mason City.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete at Major Erickson Funeral Home.

** Donna H. Duncan

MASON CITY— Donna H. Duncan, 91, of 324 Second St. N.E., died Wednesday (Aug. 19, 1998) at Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City.

A memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at First Presbyterian Church, Mason city.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave., Mason City.

** Louise C. Greiman

GARNER — Louise C. Greiman, 89, of Garner, died Wednesday (Aug. 19, 1998) at Concord Care Center, Garner.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Zion Evangelical & Reformed Church, Garner, with the Rev. Darrell Weber officiating. Burial will be in Concord Township Cemetery, Garner.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the Cataldo Funeral Chapel, Garner.

Louise C. Greiman, the daughter of William Penn Edgar and Mysie (McCutcheon) Eckels, was born Dec. 4, 1908, at Goldfield.

She attended school at Goldfield and Britt where she graduated with honors. She received her teaching certificate after attending Iowa State Teacher's College in Cedar Falls for two years.

Louise taught in Geneva for two years and in Garner for 31 years until retiring in 1971.

On Aug. 1, 1934, she was married to M.F. "Mike" Greiman at the Presbyterian parsonage in Goldfield. They made their home in Garner the rest of their lives.

Due to ill health, she had resided at the Concord Care Center since 1992.

She enjoyed her family, playing bridge, bird watching, knitting and reading.

She was a member of Zion Evangelical & Reformed Church, the Women's Fellowship and had taught Sunday school. She also belonged to P.E.O., Garner Progressive Club and had served on the Garner Library Board for 24 years, the Hancock County Memorial Hospital Auxiliary Board and was a charter member of the Hancock County Historical Society.

She is survived by her son, Charles M. Greiman and his wife, Faye, of Garner; four grandchildren, Charles A. Greiman and his wife, Karen, of Clear Lake, and their children, Curtis, Logan and Sierra, and Dawn Angell and her husband, Ronald, of West Des Moines, and their children, Lauren, Brittany and Matthew, Mark Greiman, of Mason City, and Rachel Prohaska and her husband, Scott, of Ames, and their daughter, Olivia; a sister, Inez Bottaro and her husband, Alfred, of West Covina, Calif.; a brother, Forrest Eckels and his wife, Bernice, of Britt; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, M.F. "Mike" Greiman, March 23, 1993; her parents; a brother, Mervin Eckels; and a sister, Luella Belle Eckels.

** Ruth Jean Konrad

CARPENTER — Ruth Jean Konrad, 77, of Carpenter, died Thursday (Aug. 20, 1998) at her home.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Ansgar Baptist Church.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Schroeder & Sites Funeral Home, St. Ansgar, where other arrangements are incomplete.

** Cleaudise 'Cleo' Lindstrom

CLARION — Cleaudise "Cleo" Rosella Lindstrom, 89, died Thursday (Aug. 20, 1998) at the Clarion Health Care Center.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the chapel of the Willim Funeral Home, Clarion, with Mark Young officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Willim Funeral Home.

Cleaudise Rosella Lindstrom was born Nov. 30, 1908, in Clarion.

Survivors include her children, Wallace "Pee Wee" Lindstrom, of Queen Creek, Ariz., Betty Elston, of Clarion, Dorothy Wanken, of Clarion, Karlene Hansen, of Queen Creek, Ariz., and Karen Jackson, of Fort Dodge; two brothers, Robert Smith, of Harlan, and Richard Smith, of Dubuque; 19 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers, one sister and one grandson.

** Mildred Miner

CHARLES CITY — Mildred (Mrs. James B.) Miner Jr., 92, of 807 Fifth St., died Wednesday (Aug. 19, 1998) at the Salsbury Baptist Home.

BELMOND —George Mennenga, 93, of Belmond, died Thursday (Aug. 20, 1998) at the Belmond Healthcare Center.

** Mabelle J. Honsey

MASON CITY — Mabelle J. Honsey, 92, of 302 Second St. N.E., died Wednesday (Aug. 19, 1998) at the Good Shepherd Nursing Home, Mason City.

Graveside services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 24, 1998, at the Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery.

Other arrangements are incomplete at the Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave.

** Eva Pals

ALEXANDER — Eva Pals, 99, of Alexander, died Thursday (Aug. 20, 1998) at the Belmond Health Care Center.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at First Reformed Church, Alexander, with the Rev. Gerald Norman officiating. Interment will be in the Alexander Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the Tenold Funeral Home, Belmond, and one hour prior to services at the church.

Eva Pals was born on March 8, 1899, near Alexander, Iowa, to Jelto P. and Jennie (Borchers) Pals. She grew up in the Alexander area and worked in Aldinger's Store as a sales clerk.

She was united in marriage to Lambert Pals on Christmas Day in 1919. Together they farmed in rural Alexander until they retired and moved into town.

Eva was an active and faithful member of the Alexander Reformed Church until ill health no longer permitted her to attend church. Lambert passed away in November 1987 and since that time, Eva had been a resident of the Belmond Health Care Center.

Eva is survived by one sister, Mrs. George (Marie) Barkema, of Belmond, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Jelto and Jennie; husband, Lambert; and three sisters, Mrs. Dick (Yettie) Dirkson, Mrs. Adoloph (Minnie) Eden and Mrs. Nysco (Fannie) Boelman.
