** Lillian D. Myli

MASON CITY — Lillian D. Myli, 89, of Salt Lake City, Utah, formerly of Mason City, died Sunday (Aug. 2, 1998) at the Garden Terrace Nursing Home.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. today at the Trinity Lutheran Church, 213 N. Pennsylvania Ave., Mason City, with the Rev. Kenneth Hatland, officiating. Interment will be in Elk Creek Lutheran Church Cemetery, rural Kensett.

Visitation was held Wednesday at the Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave. There will be further visitation one hour prior to services today at the church.

Memorials may be given to the Iowa Alzheimer's Association in memory of Lillian D. Myli.

Lillian was born March 16, 1909, in Scarville, Iowa, the daughter of Ole and Dena (Larson) Bilstad. Her family moved to Lake Mills where Lillian graduated from high school. She later attended and graduated from Hamilton Business College in Mason City.

She moved to Mason City in 1928 and in April of 1933, married Kermit O. Myli in Des Moines.

Lillian was a long-time resident of Mason City and was employed by Younkers for 14 years and Bergo's for 15 years. She retired in 1975.

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, church circle, Universal Mothers (Study Club), Sons of Norway and enjoyed ceramics and the sewing club.

In 1992, Lillian moved to Scottsdale, Ariz. to be near her daughter, then in 1995, moved to Salt Lake City, Utah to be near her son. Her family would like to extend their thanks to the Staff at Garden Terrace Nursing Home in Salt Lake City.

Lillian is survived by a daughter, Phyllis Cline and husband, Roger, of Fountain Hills, Ariz.; sons, Howard Myli and his wife, Alice, of Park City, Utah; Ronald Myli, of Denver, Colo.; David Myli and his wife, Marilyn, of Fort Meyers, Fla.; daughter, Marcia Roark and her husband, Michael, of Anoka, Minn.; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Valborg Bilstad, of Des Moines; and Virginia Snyder, of Des Moines.

Lillian was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Kermit; grandson, Scott; four brothers; and one sister.

** Zita C. Jung

CHARLES CITY — Zita C. (Mrs. Kenneth) Jung, 98, of Riverside Chautauqua Guest Home, and formerly of 509 S. Main St., Charles City, died Tuesday (Aug. 4, 1998) at the nursing home.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, U. S. Highway 18 and Clark Street, Charles City, with Monsignor Stanley J. Hayek celebrating the Mass. Burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery, Charles City.

Friends may call from 2 to 9 p.m. today at the Fullerton Hage Funeral Home, 401 Blunt St., Charles City with a rosary at 3 p.m. recited by St. Jude's Circle and a Parish Scriptural wake service at 7 p.m. There will be further visitation one hour prior to mass on Friday at the church.

Mrs. Jung, the former Zita Catherine Meyer, was born April 27, 1900, in rural Meyer, Mitchell County, Iowa, the daughter of Peter J. and Adelheid (Wolf) Meyer. She attended school in Meyer.

On May 11, 1929, at Immaculate Conception Church, in Charles City, she was united in marriage to Kenneth Oscar "Red" Jung. The couple made their home in Charles City. Mr. Jung died Nov. 28, 1995, in Charles City.

Mrs. Jung was a housekeeper for the Melvin Ellis Sr. family for nine years. Mrs. Jung was also an assistant cook for various places in Charles City.

She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, St. Jude Circle, Rosary Society and the CDD of the church. She also belonged to the Charles City Senior Citizens and the Jolly Pots Birthday Club.

In her spare time, she enjoyed cooking (especially pie baking), flowers and gardening, fishing and playing cards.

Living family members include a son and his wife, Gerald and Joan Jung, of Charles City; a sister, Mrs. Gertrude Dugan, of Charles City; three grandchildren, James Jung and his wife, Laurie, of Eagle Lake, Minn.; Julie Jung, of Cedar Falls, Iowa; Janean Hajek and her husband, Tom, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; and two great-grandchildren, Joseph and Christopher Hajek, of Cedar Rapids.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by five brothers, Everett, William, Sylvester, Raymond and Joseph; and five sisters, Christina, Francis, Elizabeth, Ann and Margaret.

** Thomas C. Riggle Sr.

LAKE MILLS — Thomas Charles Riggle Sr., 56, of Lake Mills, died Wednesday (Aug. 5, 1998) at the Muse-Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City.

Memorial services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Salem Lutheran Church, Lake Mills, with the Rev. Gene Bucklin, officiating. Interment will be in the North Fairview Cemetery, Lenex, with military rites by the Lake Mills Otto/Chose Post No. 235.

There will be no visitation. Mittelstadt Funeral Home, Lake Mills, is in charge of arrangements.

Thomas Charles Riggle Sr. was born Sept. 6, 1941, in Ontario, Calif.

Survivors include his wife, Gloria, of Lake Mills; his children Vonnie Sue Hagen, of Bartlesville, Okla., Stacey Jo Holstad, of Joice, Thomas Charles Riggle Jr., of Bartlesville; and Tina Marie Bidler, of Joice; his mother, Alice Mary Wiand, of Lenex; one sister, Rose Mary Molitor, of Wheaton, Ill.; and eight grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, and his stepfather.

** Nellie Theoline Just

BELMOND — Nellie Theoline Just, 69, of Belmond, died Tuesday (Aug. 4, 1998) at the Belmond Health Care Center, Belmond.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the St. Olaf Lutheran Church, Belmond with Pastor Lowell Halvorson, officiating. Interment will be in St. Francis Cemetery, Belmond.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the Tenold Funeral Home, Belmond, and one hour prior to services on Friday.

Nellie Theoline Just, the daughter of Torkel and Oline (Nelson) Mehus, was born on Sept. 22, 1928, on a farm near Lake Cornelia, Iowa. She attended country school in rural Belmond.

On Jan. 6, 1946, Nellie was united in marriage to Jacob John Just in Albert Lea, Minn. Nellie lived in or near Belmond most of her life. She and Jake owned and operated two restaurants: Jake & Nell's in Belmond from 1957 until 1973 and Nell's Place in Meservey from 1974 to 1979. Nellie was widowed in 1975.

In 1981, Nellie moved to Mesa, Ariz., where she remained until July 7, 1998, when she returned to Belmond. Nellie was an active member at St. Olaf Lutheran Church, rural Belmond, where she was also baptized and confirmed.

Survivors include her son, James Just and his wife, Linda; granddaughter, Nicole Chadwick; grandson, Brian Just; and great-granddaughter, Chelsie Chadwick, all of Mesa, Ariz.; son, Randy Just and his wife, Ann; and grandsons, Michael and Matthew Just, all of Belmond, Iowa; four sisters, Mrs. Roger (Mildred) Lonnevik, of Belmond, Iowa; Mrs. Bob (Nettie) Kimball, of Ventura, Iowa; Mrs. Arlie (Joan) Olson, of Lake Mills, Iowa; and Ms. Pearl Moudy, of Kansas City, Mo.; two brothers, Donald Mehus, of Iola, Wis.; and Jon Mehus, of Calamus, Iowa; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jacob John Just; mother, Oline (Nelson) Mehus; father, Torkel Mehus; and grandson, Randy Jacob Just.

** Illa Asfahl

RICEVILLE — Ila Asfahl, 82, of Riceville, died Tuesday (Aug. 4, 1998) at the Riceville Community Rest Home.

Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Free Methodist Church, Riceville, with Marvin Asfahl officiating with John Rosenberger and the Rev. Herschel Hawf, assisting. Inurnment will be in the Riverside Cemetery.

Ila was born on May 2, 1916, at Elk River, Minn.

Survivors include her husband, Ralph, of Riceville; her son, Marvin, of Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic; and her daughter, Patricia Carroll Davis, of Eyota, Minn.; eight grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one son, two brothers, and one sister.

** Irene Nikolas

CHARLES CITY — Irene Nikolas, 78, of Charles City, formerly of Osage, died Wednesday (Aug. 5, 1998) at the Floyd County Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Friday at the Champion Funeral Home, with the Rev. Philip Recker, officiating. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 2 to 3 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, prior to services.

Irene Nikolas was born June 16, 1920 in Butler County, near Greene.

Survivors include three daughters, Bonnie Burlage, of Ashton, Idaho; Terry Mork, of Harrisonburg, Va.; and Mary Altick, of Osage; 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Dean Pattschull, of Waverly, and Everett Pattschull, of Charles City.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and two daughters.

** Douglas E. Sobek

KLEMME — Douglas Edward Sobek, 46, of Klemme, died Tuesday (Aug. 4, 1998) at the Veterans Hospital in Des Moines.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Tenold Funeral Chapel, Klemme, with the Rev. Georgia White-Kisslring, officiating. Interment will be in the Ell Township Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the Tenold Funeral Home, Klemme, and one hour prior to services on Friday.

Douglas Edward Sobek was born Oct. 19, 1951, at Klemme.

Survivors include one daughter, Teresa Whitney, of Emmetsburg; granddaughter, Amanda Jean; sisters, Beverly Clark, of Gladbrook, and Sheryll Klesel, of Garner; brothers, Roland Sobek, of Klemme; Glen Sobek, of Klemme; and Rodney Sobek, of Knoxville.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother.

** Jessie Irene Johnson

MASON CITY — Jessie Irene (Woodiwiss) Johnson, 91, of Mason City, died Tuesday (Aug. 4, 1998), at the Iowa Odd Fellows Home, in Mason City.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at St. James Lutheran Church, 1148 Fourth St. S. E., with the Rev. David Anderson and the Rev. Rodney Holmberg, officiating. Burial will be at 1:30 p.m. in the Rock Creek Cemetery, rural Osage.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the Champion Funeral Home, 702 State St., Osage and one hour prior to services on Friday at the church.

Jessie was born April 10, 1907 at McHenry, N.D., the daughter of William and Grace (Eaton-Van Patter) Woodiwiss.

The family lived in Hubbard and in Radcliffe, Iowa. In 1919, when Jessie's parents died, she moved to the I.O.O.F. Children's Home in Mason City.

She graduated from Mason City High School in 1925. She was a telephone operator at Osage, Iowa, following high school.

Jessie married Newell Johnson on May 15, 1937, at Osage. They farmed in the Osage and Rudd areas until 1967. They then lived at Meroa, southwest of Osage, until 1982, when they moved into Osage. Jessie moved to Mason City in 1985 and later entered the I.O.O.F. Home in 1989.

She was a member of the St. James Lutheran Church, Mason City. She was a former member of Rock Creek Lutheran Church, Osage, a member of the Queen Rebekah Lodge, Mason City; and the Rudd American Legion Auxiliary.

Survivors include one daughter, Corrine Bolz and her husband, Phillip, of Mason City; two grandchildren, Daniel Bolz, of Mason City; and Christine Hanf and her husband, David, of Mason City; one great-granddaughter, Bailey Hanf, of Mason City; one brother, Doyce Woodiwiss, of Roundup, Mont.; one niece; one nephew; and many cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Newell in 1984; two brothers, Irvin and Ivan; and three sisters, Florence, Emma, and Cora.
