Arabella J. Beckman

MASON CITY — Arabella J. Beckman, 89, of 324 Second St. N.E., died Sunday (Nov. 9, 1997) at Good Shepherd Health Center.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Trinity Lutheran Church, 213 N. Pennsylvania Ave., with the Rev. John "Jack" Gannett officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at Trinity Lutheran Church.

Major Erickson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Memorial may be given to the Arabella J. Beckman Memorial Fund.

Arabella J. Beckman was born Aug. 29, 1908, in Thompson, the daughter of John and Annie (Halvorson) Hugelen. Arabella graduated from Leland High School and Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls. She married Raymond C. Beckman on Aug. 31, 1935, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Leland. Mr. Beckman died in 1959. Arabella was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church where she had taught Sunday school and was a member of Christian Business and Professional Women's Organization.

Survivors include one daughter, Mary Ellen Berge and her husband, Paul, of White Bear Lake, Minn.; granddaughter, Kari Kilbride and husband, John, of St. Paul, Minn.; and one brother, Chester Hugelen and wife, Verna, of Forest City.

She was preceded in death by her husband, three brothers Arthur, Sylvan and Richard and her parents.

 

 

Donald Ray Spratt

TULSA, Okla. — Donald Ray Spratt, 62, of Tulsa, died Friday (Nov. 7, 1997) at St. Francis Hospital.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Moore Funeral Home Eastlawn Chapel, 1908 S. Memorial, Tulsa, Okla.

Memorials can be made to the University of Oklahoma. Anatomical donation program, Rm. 100 B.S.E.B, PO Box 26901, Oklahoma City, Okla. 73190. Make checks payable to OU Foundation.

Donald was born June 10, 1935, in Iowa City, Iowa, raised in Clear Lake, Iowa, and graduated from Clear Lake High School in 1954. He attended Mason City Junior College before serving his country in the Army from 1955 to 1958. In 1966, he went to work for Williams Pipeline Co. in Clear Lake, Iowa, and he was transferred to Tulsa in 1968. He retired in 1990 as a shift supervisor. He had a passion for golf and was a great player. He was a caring father and friend to many. He will be missed by all.

Survivors included his three sons, Timothy A. Spratt and wife Brenda, of San Miguel de Allenda, Mexico; Jon C. Spratt and his wife, Darlene, of Skiatook, Okla., and Charles P. Spratt and his wife, Kim, of Broken Arrow, Okla., two daughters, Holly A. Ivie and her husband, Wayne, of Broken Arrow, Okla., and Mary L. Spratt of Las Vegas, Nev.; three brothers, Jacob E. Spratt Jr. of Dallas, Texas; Charles W. Spratt of Clear Lake, Iowa; and James F. Spratt of Oklahoma City, Okla.; one sister, Judy K. Spratt of Clear Lake, Iowa; and seven grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jacob Earl and E. Frankie Spratt of Clear Lake., Iowa

 

Liza M. Sabin

MANLY — Liza M. Sabin, 81, of 407 W. North St., died Monday (Nov. 10, 1997) at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete at Bride Colonial Chapel, 110 Spring St.

 

Mrs. Sharon Ward

CLEAR LAKE — Mrs. Sharon Ward, 57, of Fayetteville, Ark., formerly of Clear Lake, died Monday (Nov. 10, 1997) at the Washington Regional Hospital, Fayetteville, Ark.

Memorial services are tentatively set for 2 p.m. Saturday at the United Methodist Church, Clear Lake.

Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 N. Fourth St., is in charge of arrangements.

 

Norma Flora

GREENE — Norma Flora, 78, of 219 N. Water St., died Saturday (Nov. 8, 1997) at the Riverside Chautauqua Guest Home, Charles City.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. today at the First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Galen Smith officiating. Burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be at the church one hour before services.

Norma Flora was born March 10, 1919, in rural Dayton Township, Butler County.

Survivors include her father, Paul Flora of Greene; and two sisters, Evelyn Straw of Charles City and Eleanor Reed of Greene.

She was preceded in death by her mother.

Those planning an expression of sympathy may direct memorials to the Norma Flora Memorial Fund in care of the family.

Howard Ellsworth Treloar

NORA SPRINGS — Howard Ellsworth Treloar, 85, of 112 E. Congress, died Monday (Nov. 10, 1997) at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the First United Methodist Church, 202 N. Hawkeye, with the Rev. Richard Pippert and the Rev. Deborah Stowers officiating. Burial will be in Spring Grove Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Sheckler Colonial Chapel, 114 N. Hawkeye, with a Masonic service conducted at 7 p.m. Further visitation will begin one hour prior to the services at the church on Thursday.

Mr. Treloar's family asks that memorials be directed to the Howard E. Treloar Memorial Fund.

Howard Ellsworth Treloar was born July 21, 1912, at rural Nora Springs, the son of Ellsworth and Ada Blanche (Reed) Treloar. He was a graduate of Nora Springs High School, and later of Hamilton Business College and Mason City Junior College.

On Feb. 26, 1938, he was united in marriage with Elizabeth Taylor at the United Methodist Church parsonage in Nora Springs.

Howard was a life-long farmer.

Howard was involved in many community activities in Nora Springs, including several years serving on the Nora Springs School Board, the North Iowa Fair Board, and as a charter member of the Nora Springs Co-op.

He was a 50-year member of the Masons, Rock Sirius, Lodge #294, and a charter member of the Kiwanis in Nora Springs. He also was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Nora Springs.

Howard liked to bowl and loved people. His grandkids were his favorite hobby.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Elizabeth Treloar of Nora Springs; five children, Robert H. Treloar and his wife, Judith, of Vero Beach, Fla.; Susan Welp of Nora Springs; Jay Treloar, Mason City; Bruce Treloar, Witchita, Kan., and Ross Treloar and his wife, Lori, Nora Springs; 13 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one sister, Ruth Hartwell, Charles City; one brother, Jim Treloar and his wife, Estelle, of Clear Lake; one sister-in-law, Evelyn Altman and her husband, Frank, of Nora Springs; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Ralph Treloar; one sister, Elise Chenoweth; and two brothers-in-law, Jim Chenoweth and Leland Hartwell.

 

Berniece Landstad

FOREST CITY — Berniece Landstad, 89, of Forest City, died Monday (Nov. 10, 1997) at North Iowa Mercy Health Center East, Mason City.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. James Catholic Church with the Rev. Craig Steimel officiating. Burial will be in the St. James Catholic Church Cemetery.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the Petersen Lund Funeral Home.

Berniece Landstad was born Nov. 8, 1908, in Fergus Falls, Minn.

Survivors include one daughter, Patricia McEnelly of Chaska, Minn.; one son, Charles Landstad of Bloomington, Minn.; two sisters, Helen Clark of Iron Mountain, Wis., and Margaret Page of Billings, Mont.; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one sister and two brothers.

 

Sharon Lee Ward

CLEAR LAKE — Sharon Lee Ward, 57, of Fayetteville, Ark., formerly of Clear Lake, died Monday (Nov. 10, 1997) at the Washington Regional Medical Center, Fayetteville, Ark., of cancer.

Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Clear Lake United Methodist Church with the Rev. Fred Lewis officiating.

Family will greet friends one hour prior to services at the church. Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 N. Fourth St., is in charge of services.

The family suggests memorials to the Sharon Ward Memorial Fund.

She was born June 30, 1940, at Des Moines, the daughter of James Thomas and Ethel (Sorensen) Hartin.

She enjoyed traveling in their motor home, her dogs, flower gardening and crafts. Much of her time was spent supporting her husband, Steve, with Chamber of Commerce activities in the community.

She was employed as a receptionist at Pulaski Mortgage Company in Fayetteville, Ark. She was a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister and grandmother. Her special smile and warm personality will be missed.

Sharon is survived by her husband, Steven M. Ward, of Fayetteville, Ark.; her son, Tom Paullus of Chicago, Ill.; her daughter, Tara Hackett and her husband, Ken, of Omaha, Neb.; her mother, Ethel Hartin of Clear Lake; her sister, Joann Niemeyer of LaPorte City; and two granddaughters, Emily and Mary Kate Hackett.

She was preceded in death by her father, James Thomas Hartin, in 1992.

 

Eliza M. Sabin

MANLY — Eliza M. Sabin, 81, of Manly, died Monday (Nov. 10, 1997) at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Bethlehem Lutheran Church with the Rev. David Olson officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Mason City.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Bride Colonial Chapel, 110 E. Spring St., and one hour prior to service time on Thursday at the church.

Eliza M. Sabin was born Jan. 14, 1916, in Rake, the daughter of Arent and Petra (Holm) Rake. She attended and received her education in the Rake School System. After completing her formal education, she started doing housekeeping for various families in the Rake area. She was united in marriage to Arthur Sabin on Feb. 28, 1935, in Rake. After their marriage together they farmed in the Emmons and Blue Earth, Minn., area, moving to the Bricelyn, Minn., area in 1936, where they continued to farm until 1942, when they moved to Albert Lea, Minn., farming there until moving to Manly in 1946. Liza and her husband, Art, had been custodians at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church from 1975 until January 1997.

She enjoyed cooking, baking (especially chocolate chip cookies), quilting and had made a quilt for every one of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed babysitting her grandchildren, sewing and visiting with her many friends and relatives.

She was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Sarah Circle, quilting circle, Memorial Committee, and Liza and Art were instrumental at starting the coffee fellowship, all at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Manly.

Left to cherish her memory is her husband, Art Sabin of Manly; six children, Paul Sabin and his wife, Margaret, of Mason City; Duane Sabin and his wife, Sharon, of Urbandale; Gloria Reindl and her husband, Jack, of Adair; David Sabin and his wife, Gloria, of Marshall, Minn.; Mark Sabin and his wife, Linda, of Clear Lake, and Dan Sabin and special friend, Colleen Rhodes, of Northville, Mich; 13 grandchildren, Steven Sabin of Ames; Scott Sabin and his wife, Jennifer, of Davenport; Julie Sabin of Overland Park, Kan.; Dr. Shawn Sabin Steele and her husband, Mike, of Dubuque; Brad Sabin and his wife, Barb, of Aurora, Ill.; Shannon Sabin of Des Moines; Randy Reindl and his wife, Carole, of Urbandale; Kandi Amadeo and her husband, Greg, of Des Moines; Chris Reindl and his wife, Jodi, of Allison; Chad Sabin of Austin, Texas; Hilleri Sabin of West Des Moines; Joshua Sabin of Northville, Mich., and Jonah Sabin of Northville, Mich.; seven stepgrandchildren, Mike Pinske and his wife, Karen, of Mankato, Minn.; Scott Pinske and his wife, Jennifer, of Mankato, Minn.; Patrick Pinske of Mankato, Minn., and Leeann of Mason City, Arthur of Palm Springs, Calif., Doug and Robin, both of Clear Water, Fla.; 12 great-grandchildren, Meghan, Claire, Maxwell, Kasey and Austin Sabin, Lukus and Madison Reindl, Nicholas Amadeo, Tyler Reindl, Hanna Eliza Sabin, Jessica and Andrew Pinske; two sisters, Bertha Nelsen and her husband, Nels, of Austin, Minn., and Alma Christiansen of Mason City; as well as other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; four sisters, Amanda, Myrtle, Inez and Gladys; and one brother, Elmer.

Joyce G. Shima

WHITEFISH, Mont. — Joyce G. Shima, 68, of 5745 Highway 93 S., Whitefish, died Thursday (Nov. 13, 1997) at Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City, Iowa.

Memorial services will be held at a later date in Whitefish. There will be no visitation.

Memorials may be directed to Hospice of North Iowa.

Joyce was born Sept. 3, 1929, in Martinez, Calif., the daughter of Clayton and Nada (Little) Dresser. She married James H. Shima on Sept. 27, 1947 in Polson, Mont. The Shimas moved to Mason City in 1950 then in 1975 returned to live in Whitefish. Mr. Shima died in 1993. Joyce returned to Mason City in October of the year. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Whitefish and a loving wife, mother and grandmother.

Survivors include three daughters, Janice L. Hall of Bloomington, Minn.; Jody A. Foster and husband, Douglas, of Mason City, and Jill D. Wolbaum and husband, Richard M., of Richfield, Minn.; five grandchildren, Brian J. Hall of Minneapolis, Minn.; Bradley J. Hall of Bloomington, Minn.; Eric J. Foster of Mason City; Ashley R. Bielefeld of Richfield, Minn.; Megan C. Bielefeld of Richfield, Minn.; one stepgrandson, Steven D. Foster of Mason City; one sister, Joan Clemmer of Sequim, Wash.; one brother, William Dresser of Anchorage, Alaska; one special sister-in-law, Marie "Mudge" Shima of Mason City; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, James H. Shima, in 1993.

 

Ernest Johanns

PLYMOUTH — Ernest Johanns, 64, of rural Plymouth, died Wednesday (Nov. 12, 1997) at his home of natural causes.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Osage, with the Father Philip Recker officiating. Burial is in Sacred Heart Cemetery with military rites by Osage American Legion Post 278.

Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the Champion Funeral Home, Osage, with a Scripture service at 7 p.m.

Ernest was born March 30, 1933, in Osage, the son of Joseph and Laura (Fluhrer) Johanns. Ernest was educated in rural schools and graduated from Plymouth High School in 1950. He served in the U.S. Air Force Military Police from 1952 to 1956. Upon his return from service he helped operate the family farm, farming until his retirement. Ernest enjoyed woodworking and his horses and his nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Survivors include a sister, Ardella Scalise and her husband Robert, of Altoona; a brother, Richard Johanns and his wife, Barbara, rural Grafton; five nephews, Dr. Steven Scalise and his wife, Barbara, and their children Michael and Amanda of Westerville, Ohio; Charles Scalise and his wife, Jacqueline, of Orlando, Fla.; Tom Johanns and his wife, Barbara, and their children, Gabe, Wade, Shaye of Mason City; Bob Johanns and his friend, Jeri and children Stephen, Robert, Justin of Manly, and Mike Johanns and his wife, Shellie, and their children Tyler, Jared of rural Grafton; two nieces, Kathy McCurdy and husband Chris and son Chase of Grafton, and Jodie Hansen and husband, Brian, of St. Ansgar.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

 

Lyle Allan Pringle

FOUNTAIN HILLS, Ariz. — Lyle Allan Pringle, 80, a prominent and highly respected figure in the cattle industry, died Tuesday (Nov. 11, 1997) at his retirement home in Fountain Hills, Ariz.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Friday at Fountain Hills United Methodist Church, 17210 E. Amhurst Drive, Fountain Hills, Ariz., with the Rev. Edwin Grant officiating.

Lyle was born in Floyd County, Iowa, on his family's farm on Aug. 7, 1917. From 1974 until his retirement in 1987, he was Vice President for Procurement for National Beef Packers, Liberal, Kan. Mr. Pringle began his career at the age of 19 as a cattle buyer for Jacob E. Decker and Sons in Mason City, after learning the cattle business in partnership with his father, Ben Pringle, a livestock dealer in Marble Rock, and also a buyer for Deckers. He became an independent cattle buyer in 1942, a business venture which was interrupted by his service in the United States Army during World War II and which he resumed following his military service. From 1959 until 1965, Mr. Pringle was a partner in the Clear Lake Livestock Auction and was employed by Iowa Beef Processors in Dakota City, Neb., and Guymon, Okla., from 1965 until his employment by National Beef Packers in 1974.

On June 20, 1938, Mr. Pringle married Winifred S. Ackley, with whom he shared a devoted, caring and generous family life and with whom he retired to Fountain Hills in December 1987, following his retirement form his professional life of 54 years in the cattle industry.

Mr. Pringle was an active member of various Methodist churches during his life, including the Fountain Hills United Methodist Church, as well as several civic and professional organizations, including The Club (Fountain Hills), the Oklahoma Cattlemen's Association, American National Cattlemen's Association and the BPOE.

Survivors include his wife, Winnie, of Fountain Hills; daughter and son-in-law Winnie P. and H. Gary Pannell of Atlanta, Ga.; son and daughter-in-law Jed and Pat Pringle of Benson, Ariz., and son and daughter-in-law, Lynn A. and Laura S. Pringle of Oklahoma City, Okla.; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, all of whom basked in the love, kindness and marvelous good humor which he brought to his life and family.

Ada Bailey

MASON CITY — Mrs. Ada Bailey, 101, of Mason City, died Thursday (Nov. 13, 1997) at the Good Shepherd Care Center.

Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Hogan-Bremer Colonial Chapel, 126 Third St. N.E., with the Rev. Sharon Betsworth of First United Methodist Church officiating. Private inurnment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. The family suggest memorials to Hospice of North Iowa.

Ada was born in Algona, the daughter of Charles and Lora (Cox) Hopkins on Oct. 1, 1896.

She was active in Easter Star, White Shrine, Rebecca Lodge, the First Methodist Church and other organizations when younger. She has been a resident of Mason City for the last 64 years.

Ada is survived by two daughters, Arlene Henderson of Flint, Mich., and Jeanne Stewart and her husband, B.E., of Kansas City, Mo.; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, James H. Bailey.

 

 

Elma A. Edwards

MASON CITY — Elma A. Edwards, 86, of 417 S. Tennessee Place, died Thursday (Nov. 13, 1997) at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Trinity Lutheran Church, 213 Pennsylvania Ave.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave., where other arrangements are incomplete.

NORTHWOOD — Alvin Berge, 74, of Northwood, died Thursday (Nov. 13, 1997) at North Iowa Mercy Health Care Center, Mason City.

William J. Neuberger

KLEMME — William J. Neuberger, 88, died Wednesday (Nov. 12, 1997) at Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City.

Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. at the United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Jerry Robertson officiating. Burial will be in the Ell township cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 3 to 8 p.m. today at the Tenold Funeral Home.

William was born Nov. 1, 1909, in Hancock County. He attended rural Hancock County schools, where he later became a director. He was united in marriage to Emma Christian on Feb. 15, 1934, at the Immanuel Reformed United Church of Christ in Klemme. They made their home at the Moberly four corners east of Klemme, moved to a farm southeast of Klemme for six years and then to their present farm where they have resided for the past 55 years.

William had a love for the land, and was a true family man and enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Emma; two sons, William Neuberger Jr. and his wife, Madonna, of Klemme, and David Neuberger and his wife, Judy, of Garner; six daughters, Marie Jurgens and her husband, Paul, of Latimer, Marna Herman and her husband, Elwyn, of Brownsville, Texas, Marlys Luscombe and her husband, Guy, of Des Moines, Margaret Parrott of Cedar Falls, Marilyn Cox of Johnston, and Marcia Evans and her husband, Michael, of Nora Springs; 21 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; one sister, Ruth Neuberger of Garner; and one brother, Merlin Neuberger of Klemme.

He was preceded in death by his parents; great-grandchildren Holly Miller and Daniel Murl; three sisters, Faye, Mae, and infant sister, Margaret; and three brothers, Clarence, Walter and John.

Alan A. Brown

GARNER — Alan A. Brown, 41, of Garner, died Thursday (Nov. 13, 1997) at North Iowa Mercy Health Center East, Mason City.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the United Methodist Church with the Rev. Kay Hooper officiating. Burial will be in Concord Township Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the Cataldo Funeral Chapel, 160 E. Fourth St.

Alan Arthur Brown, the son of Emery and Ruth (Gilner) Brown, was born Nov. 19, 1955, in Mason City. He graduated from Garner-Hayfield High School in 1974, and attended NIACC in Mason City, where he graduated with highest honors, receiving an A.A. degree in Agriculture Business.

On June 3, 1978, he was married to Cathy Duregger at the United Methodist Church in Garner. He farmed all of his life on the family farm west of Garner. He was employed as the farm manager of the Hancock County Farm west of Garner from 1976 to 1994. He then worked at the Britt Agri Service Center until 1997, when he began working at Stellar Industries in Garner.

He enjoyed his family, farming, fishing and bowling. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Garner.

He is survived by his wife, Cathy Brown, of Garner; two sons, Aaron Brown and his special friend, Laura Etter, of Garner, and Ryan Brown of Garner; parents, Emery and Ruth Brown of Garner; two sisters, Rachel Jones and fiance, Ron Fontana, of Ankeny, and Marlene Stupka and her husband, Clarence, of Sioux Falls, S.D.; aunts and uncles; nieces and nephews.

MASON CITY — Elma A. Edwards, 86, of 417 S. Tennessee Pl., Mason City, died Thursday (Nov. 13, 1997) at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Trinity Lutheran Church.

Marsha Lovin

HAMPTON — Marsha Lovin, 60, of Hampton, died Friday (Nov. 14, 1997) at the University of Iowa Hospitals, Iowa City.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Hampton United Methodist Church with the Rev. Larry McCann officiating. Burial will be in the Hampton Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 1 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the Sietsema-Vogel Funeral Home.

Marsha Lovin was born Feb. 5, 1937, in Newton.

Survivors include her husband, William H. Lovin, of Hampton; two sons, Harold Lovin of Hudson, Ill., and James Lovin of Olathe, Kan.; two daughters, Michelle Budweg of Eldora, and LaDonna Tidman of Hampton; his parents, Fred and Doris Stacy of Hampton; and 11 grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her maternal and paternal grandparents.

 

Esther E. Michelson

BELMOND — Esther E. Michelson, 99, of Belmond, died Thursday (Nov. 13, 1997) at the Clarion Care Center.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Trinity Lutheran Church with the Rev. James Carpenter officiating. Burial will be in the Belmond Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the Dugger Ewing Funeral Home, and one hour prior to services at the church on Monday.

Esther E. Michelsen was born March 30, 1898, in Belmond.

Survivors include one daughter, Jackie Schilling of Kanawha; one sister, Lela Simmonds of Madison, Wis.; four grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers, and two sisters.

 

Clifford L. Easley

SYLMAR, Calif. — Clifford L. Easley, born in Mason City, passed away at the age of 76. He was a resident of Peoria, Ariz. He expired at the home of his sister, Shirley, in California after a long bout with cancer, on Nov. 11, 1997.

There will be a memorial service in California where, after death, the body was cremated.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. W.J. Easley; his wife, Vivian; three brothers; and one sister.

He is survived by five sisters, Mrs. C.A. (Ollie) Andrews, Mrs. Robert (Shirley) Beery, Mrs. Robert (Mary Lou) Cooper, Mrs. John (Kathryn) Mikovec, and Mrs. Russell (Wilma) Myers; two brothers, Robert Easley and Harold Easley; two aunts; and a number of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

 

Douglas M. Fogerty

MELBOURNE, Australia — Memorial services for Douglas M. Fogerty, 52, of Melbourne, Australia, will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 22, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 213 N. Pennsylvania Ave., Mason City.

Douglas M. Fogerty died Monday (Nov. 10, 1997) in Melbourne. Major-Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave., Mason City, is in charge of arrangements.

 

 

Ruth T. Green

BELMOND — Ruth T. Green, 91, of Belmond, formerly of Klemme, died Friday (Nov. 14, 1997) at the Belmond Health Care Center.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the United Methodist Church, Klemme, with the Rev. Jerry Robertson officiating. Burial will be in the Ell Township Cemetery, Klemme.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Tenold Funeral Home, Klemme, and will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Monday.

Ruth T. Green was born Aug. 25, 1906, at Grangeville, Idaho.

Survivors include one daughter, Shirley Heginger of Belmond; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a half-sister, Ethel Dunn of Conneaut Lake, Pa.; and a half-brother, Dale Ewing of Philadelphia, Pa.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, great-granddaughter, and two brothers.

 

Mayme Jeffries

OSAGE — Mayme Jeffries, 101, of Osage, died Friday (Nov. 14, 1997) at the Faith Home of natural causes.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Champion Funeral Home with the Rev. Rose Marie Lewis officiating. Burial is in the Osage Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, and will continue Monday until time of service.

Mayme Jeffries was born Sept. 2, 1896, in Osage, the daughter of William and Georgia (Smalley) Madison. She was educated in Osage schools. Mayme married Charles D. Jeffries on April 16, 1913. They farmed near Osage for many years. Charles died Nov. 28, 1970. Mayme later moved to Osage. She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church, the American Legion Auxiliary, and was a charter member of the Osage Senior Citizens. She moved to the Worth Living Center in St. Ansgar in 1992, and has been a resident of the Faith Home in Osage since November, 1996.

Survivors include a nephew, Dean Hugi and his wife, Merle, of Mason City; a niece, Dorothy Berg of Pippen, Wis.; and several other nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Charles; two sisters, Truley and Metta; and two brothers, Merle and David.

 

 

Carolyn Jane Stricker

MASON CITY — Carolyn Jane Stricker, 50, of 801 N. Adams Ave., Mason City, died Thursday (Nov. 13, 1997) of an automobile accident.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the First Congregational Church, Clear Lake, with the Rev. Thomas Healey officiating. The family will be at the church one hour before the services to greet friends. Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 N. Fourth St., Clear Lake, is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be given in memory of Carolyn to the Humane Society of North Iowa.

Carolyn worked for the Willow Brook Beauty Shop in Mason City. She married Richard Stricker on Oct. 15, 1966, at the First Congregational Church, Clear Lake. She owned and operated Carolyn's Poodle Parlor in Mason City for more than 20 years. She also was a Girl Scout leader during her daughter's scouting years.

Carolyn collected Coca Cola memorabilia and also collected Snow Village of Dept. 56. She enjoyed her animals, fishing trips to Minnesota, snowmobiling, the outdoors, riding motorcycles, decorating the house for the holidays and putting up Christmas lights. She was a member of the Coca Cola collectors.

She is survived by her husband, Richard Stricker, of Mason City; daughter, Kristie Niemi and her husband, Christopher, Maple Grove, Minn.; her mother, Lu Davis, Clear Lake; brother, John Davis and his wife, Helga, Sylvania, Ohio; nephews and nieces, Jeff Davis and his wife, Pam, Santa Claus, Ind., Derek Stricker and Sara Stricker, both of rural Clear Lake, Jacob Schallock and Jason Schallock, both of rural Mason City; her mother and father-in-law, Dave and Marie Stricker Jr., Clear Lake; her sister-in-law, Nadine Schallock and her husband, Wayne, rural Mason City; and her brother-in-law, Marlen Stricker and his wife, Nancy, rural Clear Lake.

She was preceded in death by her father in 1982.

 

 

Elsie H. Rosinger

MASON CITY — Elsie H. Rosinger, 77, of Eden Prairie, Minn., formerly of Mason City, Iowa, died Thursday (Nov. 13, 1997) at home.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:30 a.m. Monday at Pax Christi Catholic Community, 12100 Pioneer Trail, Eden Prairie. Interment will be at Fort Snelling National Cemetery, St. Paul.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the Washburn-McReavy Strobeck Johnson Chapel, 1400 Mainstreet, Hopkins, Minn., and one hour prior to services at the church.

Survivors include her husband, Anthony "Tony"; two children, Barbara Wiggins-Kruger, Mason City, and Robert Wiggins, Durango, Colo.; five grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Nelle Keegan (Verlan), of Mason City, and Rose Sonsalla (Roy), St. Louis Park, Minn., nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

 

 

Alvin J. Berge

NORTHWOOD — Alvin J. Berge, 74, of Northwood, died Thursday (Nov. 13, 1997) at North Iowa Mercy Health Center, Mason City.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at the First Lutheran Church with the Rev. Mark Bents officiating. Burial will be in the South Shell Rock Cemetery.

Visitation is scheduled from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the Schroeder & Sites Funeral Home, Highway 65 South, Northwood, and one hour prior to the services at the church on Monday.

 

Alvin was born on Sept. 14, 1923, in Silver Lake Township, Worth County, Iowa, to John and Alice Bergan Berge. He was confirmed at Bethany Lutheran Church, Kensett. Alvin graduated in 1942 from Kensett High School. He farmed all his life, except for the time he spent in the armed forces, serving from 1945 to 1947. Alvin married Margaret Rustad on March 28, 1948. Alvin was honored by the Worth County Fair Board for his 50 years of service in 1996. He also worked for Low Auction Service for a number of years.

Alvin was preceded in death by his father.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret, of Northwood; his mother, Alice Berge of Northwood; one son, Allen, and his wife, Jamie, of Anchorage, Alaska; three daughters, Marcia and her husband, Richard Kraft, of Northwood, Julie Berge of Aurora, Colo., and Susan and her husband, Jay Hahn, of Norway, Iowa; four grandchildren, Belinda Kraft, Amber Kraft, Haley Hahn, and William Hahn; one great-grandchild, Katelyn Kraft-Jaspers; one brother, Glenn Berge, of Kensett; and one sister, Mavis Rustad of Northwood.
