Maude C. (Johnson) Lewis, 92, of Forest City, formerly of Osage
and Orchard, died Thursday (Nov. 14, 1996) at the Good Samaritan
Center, Forest City.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Our Savior's
Lutheran Church, Osage, with the Rev. Dennis Hanson of Osage
and the Rev. David Samuelson of Forest City officiating. Burial
will be in the Osage Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the Champion
Funeral Home, Osage.
Maude C. Lewis was born May 21, 1904, on the Smalley family
farm east of Orchard.
Survivors include her husband, Howard Lewis of Forest City;
one daughter, Elaine Campney of Forest City; three grandchildren;
five great-grandchildren; two stepdaughters, Marita Almquist
of Rockville, Md., and Patricia Vagenas of Newark, Del.; six
stepgrandchildren; and two stepgreat-grandchildren; one sister,
Katie Winer of Mankato, Minn.; and three brothers, Melbourne
Smalley of Orchard, Ralph Smalley of Des Moines, and Maurice
Smalley of Osage.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband,
one sister and three brothers.

Roy William Janssen
ROCKWELL
Roy William Janssen, 73, 8847 Thrush Ave., died Thursday (Nov.
14, 1996) at his home.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Peter
Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Ernest Thompson officiating. Burial
will be in the Rockwell Cemetery, with full military rites conducted
by the Rockwell American Legion.
There will be no visitation. Major Erickson Funral Home, 111
N. Pennsylvania Ave., Mason City, is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be given to Hospice of North Iowa or Mercy Cancer
Center.
Roy was born on Feb. 2, 1923, in Glidden, the son of William
and Recka (Prill) Janssen.
Roy married Flora Anderson of Mason City on Dec. 11, 1945, in
Garner. They worked side by side for over 50 years.
Roy graduated from Glidden High School in 1940.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Army
attaining the rank of Tech. Sergeant.
Roy was a member of the Rockwell American Legion and St. Peter
Lutheran Church.
Roy was a lifetime farmer and greatly enjoyed being a shepherd
of livestock and steward of the soil.
Many hours were spent, before and after retirement, renovating
antique farm machinery.
His memory will be cherished by his wife, companion and friend,
Flora; son, Gary Janssen and his wife, Mary Beth, of Emporia,
Kan.; son, Captain (Dr.) Jay Janssen and his wife, Janet, of
Fort Leavenworth, Kan.; and daughter, Janna Bram and her husband,
Doug, of Huxley. His terrific grandchildren are Jason A. Janssen
and wife, Crystal; Jennifer Jungling and her husband, Dan; Jamie,
Jason William and Jenna Janssen; Lewis Roy Bram and his wife,
Christy; and Annie Kay Bram. He also had many special nieces
and nephews. Other dear family members are brother, Merle Janssen
and his wife, Joan, of Goodell; sister, Leona Givens and husband,
Paul, of Temple Terrace, Fla.; sister, Faye Irelan and her husband,
Wayne, of Fort Collins, Colo.; sisters and brothers-in-law, Mr.
and Mrs. Lester Nuehring, Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Anderson and Ellen
Anderson, all of Mason City, and Mr. and Mrs. Henry Anderson
of Osage.
Roy was preceded in death by his parents, William and Recka
Janssen; father and mother-in-law, Henry and Tina Anderson; and
brother-in-law, Emerson Anderson.

H. Darlene Johnson, 77, of 706 N. 10th St., died Thursday (Nov.
14, 1996) at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Ward-Van
Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 N. Fourth St.
Visitation will begin after 3 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
The family suggests memorials to the H. Darlene Johnson Memorial
Fund.
H. Darlene Johnson was born July 28, 1919, in West Des Moines,
the daughter of Orville Clayton and Helen (Wallace) Cox.
She graduated from Valley High School in West Des Moines in
1937.
Darlene married Joseph Robert Johnson on Oct. 22, 1939, in West
Des Moines. They moved to Clear Lake in 1945 when her husband
was transferred with the Ruan Transport Company.
Darlene enjoyed bowling, cooking and being with her grandchildren.
She was a member of the Clear Lake VFW Auxiliary.
Darlene is survived by her daughter, Kathy Jo Becker and her
husband, Roger, of Clear Lake; two grandchildren, Jeffrey Becker
and his wife, Gayle, and Joel Becker, both of Clear Lake; two
great-grandchildren, Ryan and Kyle Becker, Clear Lake; one brother,
Lester Cox and his wife, Edna, of Fullerton, Calif.; and three
nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband on November
1977.

brothers.

Robert Gerk, 75, of 11th Street Chautauqua Guest Home and formerly
of No. 99 N. Cedar Terrace, died Saturday (Nov. 16, 1996) at
the Floyd County Memorial Hospital.
A funeral Mass is being planned for 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the
Immaculate Conception Church, U.S. Highway 18 and Clark Street.
Monsignor Stanley J. Hayek, pastor, will celebrate the Mass.
Burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery with military graveside
honors conducted by the Charles City Ceremonial Unit.
Friends may call from noon to 9 p.m. Monday at the Fullerton
Hage Funeral Home, 401 Blunt Street, where there will be a Scriptural
Wake Service at 7:30 p.m. followed by a Rosary service led by

36 great grandchildren; and five great great grandchildren.

Elizabeth W. Tatum was born June 7, 1911, in Sheffield, the
daughter of Victor W. and Rosetta (Esslinger) Watt. She married
Dawes K. Tatum on Sept. 2, 1934, in Sheffield.
Elizabeth graduated from Sheffield High School and later taught
in Franklin County rural schools. After their marriage, she and
her husband moved to Nora Springs where they have lived ever
since.
She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, the First
United Methodist Church, and was a former member of the Order
of Eastern Star.
Survivors include, her husband, Dawes Tatum of Nora Springs;
one daughter, Nancy Wood of Nora Springs; four grandchildren,
Kara, Michael, Daniel and Matthew Wood; one sister, Ardis Peterson
of Rhinelander, Wis.; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, E.J.
and Dwight Watt; and one sister, Thelma Bishop.

Roy L. Boone, 90, of 1535 Meadowbrook Dr., died Saturday (Nov.
16, 1996) at the IOOF Home.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, at the chapel
of St. James Lutheran Church. Officiating will be the Rev. David
Anderson. The family will greet friends from 4 to 8 p.m. today
at the Fullerton Patterson James Funeral Chapel, 123 Second St.
S.E. Interment will be at Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery.
Roy was born at Winnebago, Minn., on Oct. 29, 1906, the son
of Mark A. and Hattie Bell (Whitledge) Boone. He attended West
Fork Township country school where he met his future wife Frances
Avery. They were united in marriage on March 8, 1928, in Hampton.
For the next 43 years, they farmed near the Dougherty and Rockwell
areas. Following his retirement from farming in 1971, they moved
to Mason City. During his lifetime, he enjoyed helping his neighbors
and raising his farm animals consisting of cows and horses. He
was very at ease working on the farm and being outdoors.
Roy is survived by his loving wife, Frances J. Boone of Mason
City; one son Lloyd and his wife JoAnne Boone of Mason City;
two granddaughters, Barbara and her husband Michael Adams of
Humboldt, and Linda Boone of Forest City; three great grandchildren,
twins Tamara and Miranda, and Trent; and one sister, Dorothy
Cerwinske of Stanton, Neb.

Burial will follow at Nola Cemetery in Park Falls, Wis. with
military rites under the auspices of the Park Falls American

prayer vigil at 6:30 p.m. at the Novitzke Funeral Home, Park
Falls, Wis.
Marian was born on Feb. 28, 1921 in Park Falls, Wis., the daughter
of John Henry and Anna (Fenzel) Schmidt. She graduated from Park
Falls High and then entered the United State Army in 1944, serving
during World War II.
She married Willard Newell on Jan. 6, 1949 in Park Falls.
The couple moved to Mason City, Iowa, after their marriage.
She lived there until the death of her husband Willard in 1987.
Mrs. Newell then moved to Mt. Juliet, Tenn.
She is survived by one daughter, Joan (Tim) Farrell of Mt. Juliet,
Tenn.; two sons, John (Rose Mary) of Dallas, Texas and Lawrence
of Minneapolis, Minn.; three grandchildren, Matthew and Brandon
Newell and Timothy Farrell II; two sisters, Margaret (John)
Rybak II of Butternut, Wis., and Angeline (Richard) LaRose of
Park Falls, Wis.; seven brothers, Richard (Geri) Schmidt of Park
Falls, Wis., John (Mary Carol) Schmidt of Fort Dodge, Iowa, Donald
(Johnni) Schmidt of Dayton, Ohio, Gerald (Click) Schmidt of Sumter,

Robert Dean Bonner, 57, of 625 10th Ave N., Clear Lake, died
Saturday (Nov. 16, 1996) at his home.

Interment will be in the Ventura Cemetery.

Robert was born June 8, 1939 in Swaledale, Iowa, the son of
John Gene and Amanda Flo (Odom) Bonner.
He graduated from Clear Lake High School in 1957. Robert was
baptized at the Zion Lutheran Church, Clear Lake, in 1939.
Robert married Deanna Kaster on Nov. 11, 1962 at the E.U.B.
Church, Ventura, Iowa.
He started working for David Manufacturing Co., in Mason City,
as a machinist in 1966.
While he worked at DMC, he was active in the local and district
machinist union (I.M.A.) and was local and district union
secretary and later president of local and district union.
He helped organize the union at Andrew's Prestress Concrete.
Robert helped develop the safety program at DMC.
In 1972, he became involved as a Webolo's leader for the Boy
Scouts of America and later a scout leader.
Robert was honored by his fellow scouts and was elected in the
Order of The Arrow, established by the National Brotherhood of
Scout Honor Campers, Sac-N-Fox Lodge. He did maintenance work
and skate sharpening at the North Iowa Ice Arena, where he enjoyed
being around kids and helping them.
Robert enjoyed fishing, camping, trips to Northern, Minn., working
on cars and most of all dancing. Together with his wife, he was
a caretaker of the Ventura Cemetery. He was a member of Ventura
United Methodist Church, Ventura.
Robert is survived by his wife, Deanna Bonner, of Clear Lake;
his mother, Amanda (Flo) Bonner, of Clear Lake; six children,
Robert Eugene Bonner, of Hayfield, Iowa; Anthony Joseph Bonner,
and his wife, Dawn, of Rockford; Chad Allen Bonner, of Clear
Lake; Angela Ranae` Meyering and her husband, Phil, Ventura;
James Bonner and his wife, Melissa, Ardmore, Okla.; and Barbara
Wells; and her husband, Steve, Madill, Okla.; one sister, Mrs.
Betty Arnold and her husband, Jerry, of Clear Lake, Iowa; 10
grandchildren, Joshua Dean Meyering, Jacob Wayne Bonner, Jeremy
Bonner, Jarred Bonner, Jesse Wells, Levi Wells, Elizabeth Wells,
John Wells, Amanda Wells, and Amy Wells; as well as many nieces,
nephews, and a host of friends.
Robert was preceded in death by his father; grandfather, Harley
Joy Bonner; grandparents, John and Belva Bonner; and Charles

Agnes Nedved, 82, of Garner, died Monday (Nov. 18, 1996) at
the Hancock County Memorial Hospital, Britt.

officiating. Burial will be in St. John's Catholic Cemetery,

Agnes Magdalen Nedved, the daughter of Jilji J. and Rose Ann
(Hejlik) Hrubes was born Feb. 1, 1914 on a farm near Garner.
She attended the rural schools of Liberty Township.
On July 2, 1935, she was married to Vincent V. Nedved at St.
Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Duncan.
They farmed northwest of Garner in Garfield Township until they
retired from farming in 1990.
In September of 1992, they moved into Garner.
Agnes enjoyed her family, music, baking, canning, flowers and
gardening.
She was a member of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, Rosary Society
and Catholic Workman's Lodge.
She is survived by her husband, Vincent V. Nedved of Garner;
six children, Marian Smith and her husband, Richard, of Iowa
Falls, Elaine Weiland and her husband, Dean, of Britt; Bernard
Nedved and his wife, Suzan, of Garner; Marlene Christianson and
her husband, Larry, of West Memphis, Ark.; Kathleen Hulse and
her husband, Robert, of Des Moines; and Gerald Nedved and his
wife, Patricia, of Garner; 23 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren;
brothers and sisters, Frank Hrubes and his wife, Alyce, of Garner,
Rose Johanns of Osage, Helen Malek of Garner, Elsie Vavrik of
Garner, Mary Trca of Britt, Joseph Hrubes and his wife, Leona,
of Britt, and Clarence Hrubes and his wife, Joan, of Garner;
and a sister-in-law, Margaret Hrubes of Garner.
She was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Gary Turner; a granddaughter,

Marjorie M. Beaman, 93, of Salsbury Baptist Home and formerly
of 77 S. Cedar Terrace, died Friday (Nov. 15, 1996) at the Floyd
County Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Fullerton
Hage Funeral Home, 401 Blunt Street, with the Rev. Michael Downey
of the Evangelical Free Church officiating.
Visitation was held from 3 to 5 p.m. Monday at the funeral home
and one hour prior to services on Monday. Graveside services
will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery
in Albuquerque, N.M., under the direction of French Mortuary,

Mrs. Beaman was born July 1, 1903, in Hancock County.

Beaman and Vern Beaman; four daughters, Iva Valentine, Hazel

36 great grandchildren; and five great great grandchildren; and

Magdalene Lechman, 86, of Manly, formerly of Osage, died Monday
(Nov. 18, 1996) at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in
Mason City.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Sacred
Heart Catholic Church, Osage, with the Rev. Thomas McAndrew and
the Rev. Dennis Cahill officiating. Burial will be in Sacred
Heart Cemetery.
Visitation will be held after 2:30 p.m. Thursday with a 3 p.m.
rosary and a 7:30 p.m. scripture service at Champion Funeral
Home.
Magdalene was born July 26, 1910, in Rothmal, Russia, of German
descent. Her parents were John and Rose (Lauer) Kloberdanz.
She entered the United States with her family at Ellis Island
in 1911.
The family moved to the Osage area in 1922.
She attended Osage schools.
Magdalene was employed for many years at both the Hanford Hotel
and Park Clinic in Mason City.
Left to cherish her memory are one daughter, Sandra Hawkins
and her husband, Monte, of Manly; one son, Dennis Lechman and
his wife, Judy, of Salem, Ore.; grandchildren, Kristie Wilkins
and her husband, Ron, of Nora Springs, Karrie Lipp and her husband,
Bryan, of Mason City, Angela Sorenson and her husband, Jamie,
of Hanlontown, Tina Hawkins of Manly, Daniel (D.J.) Hawkins of
Storm Lake and Brian Lechman of Salem, Ore.; great-grandchildren,
Brandon Wilkins and Kaitlyn Sorenson; three brothers, Peter Kloberdanz
of Osage, John Kloberdanz of Osage and Alex Kloberdanz of Charles

Edward N. Schmitt, 75, of 20411 140th St., died Sunday (Nov.
17, 1996) at his home.
Funeral services are set for 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Sacred Heart

Interment will be at Sacred Heart Catholic Church Cemetery.

Edward was born near Marble Rock on Feb. 20, 1921, to Matt Sr.
and Catherine (Merfeld) Schmitt. He attended school through
the eighth grade at Roseville. He was honorably discharged from
the United States Navy after serving one tour of duty during
World War II. On Feb. 7, 1948, he was united in marriage to
Pauline Quade in Roseville.
Edward's life revolved around his family and farming. He particularly
enjoyed raising registered Hereford cattle and going to farm
auctions. He spent his spare time reading. He was a member
of American Legion Post 208.
Edward is survived by his five daughters, Mrs. Ralph (Janice)
Brighton of Highlands Ranch, Colo., Mrs. Rod (Trish) Bean of
Johnston, Mrs. Al (Marlene) Paulus of Chillicothe, Mo., Dianne
Schmitt of Joilet, Ill., and Kathleen Schmitt of Omaha, Neb.;
four sons, Gary (Jeannette) Schmitt of Rockwell, Mike Schmitt
of Rockwell, Jim Schmitt of Omaha, Neb., and Leroy (Beth) Schmitt
of Rockwell; one sister, Mrs. Phil (Steela) Fuller of Florida;
one brother, Bernard (Lillian) Schmitt of Charles City; two sisters-
in-law, Lorraine Schmitt of Sumner and Lillian Schmitt of Mason City;
two brothers-in-law, Nick Brunner of Marble Rock and Keith Harrison
of Riceville; and 16 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Pauline on June

Mae was born March 8, 1918, to Henry and Lillie (Bagstad) Olswold
at Lyle, Minn. She was baptized and confirmed at the Lyle Lutheran
Church by the Rev. Langhough. Mae attended the Minnereka school
at Lyle. On April 20, 1940, Mae was united in marriage to Arthur
Lugg by the Rev. T.P. Solem in Osage. Arthur died Feb. 3, 1983.
Mae was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church.
Survivors include one daughter, Marvis Kleckner and her husband,
Richard, of Fountain Valley, Calif.; two sons, Keith Lugg and
his wife, Mary, of Casper, Wyo., and Glenn Lugg and his wife,
RuthAnne, of Cedar Falls; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren;
and one brother, Clarence Olswold and his wife, Clarice, of Williamsburg.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Arthur,

David Roy Wells was born June 16, 1941, at Floyd, the son of
John V. and Ruth R. (Shorey) Wells.
He was united in marriage to Betty Arlene Brewer on Nov. 17,
1962, in Mason City, and they renewed their vows at the Church
of the Nazarene on Nov. 20, 1987, in Muscatine.
David liked to keep himself busy and he was a ``Jack of All
Trades.''
He was employed at Bandag of Muscatine for 28 years as a banbury
operator.
He took great pride and enjoyment in working on cars.
Survivors include his wife, Arlene, at home; one son, Steven
Roy Wells; two daughters, Jodi Lynn Fulfs and Patsy Doreen Land;
five grandchildren, Sarah Wells, Brittney Land, Levi Land, Natasha
Elam and Ashley Elam; his mother, Ruth Wells of Mason City; four
brothers, Robert John Wells and his wife, Beth, of Mason City,
Johnnie Michael Wells and his wife, Beverly, of Mason City, Richard
Allen Wells and his wife, Dorothy ``Dottie,'' of Nashua and Roger

GREENE
Memorial services for LeRoy Henry Miller, 67, of 35 Katta Drive,
Cherokee Village, Ark., formerly of Greene, will be held at 10
a.m. Saturday at Reid's Funeral Chapel, Greene, with the Rev.
Randall V. Baldwin officiating. There will be a flag presentation
ceremony conducted by Tack Barnett Post 268 American Legion of
Greene.
Burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Greene.
There will be no visitation. The body was cremated.
LeRoy Henry Miller was born Feb. 9, 1929, in rural Bristow,
Coldwater Township, Butler County, a son of Herman and Minnie
(Kielman) Miller, and died Monday (Nov. 18, 1996) at St. Bernard's
Hospital in Jonesboro, Ark., of a heart attack.
He received his education in the rural Butler County schools
and as a young man helped farm at home.
On March 5, 1951, he was inducted into the United States Army,
where he served with Co. B., 112th Infantry.
He was united in marriage to Elaine Schafer on Nov. 10, 1951,
at Camp Atterbury, Ind.
Following his discharge on March 3, 1953, LeRoy and Elaine
farmed in the Greene area until 1986, when they moved to Arkansas.
LeRoy was baptized April 28, 1929, and confirmed a member of
St. Peter's Lutheran Church on Dec. 2, 1945.
His interests included collecting postcards, farming memorabilia
and antiques.
Living family members include his loving wife of 45 years,
Elaine, of Cherokee Village, Ark.; one son, Mark Miller and his
wife, Jan, of Mason City; one daughter, Teresa Frericks and her
husband, Brian, of Bristow; seven grandchildren; one great-granddaughter;
and two sisters.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.

Ill., formerly of Rock Falls, died Monday (Nov. 18, 1996) at
the Illinois Masonic Medical Center.

Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave., Mason City,
with the Rev. Nils ``Chris'' Hellevik of Trinity Lutheran Church,
officiating. Burial will be in Deer Creek Lutheran Cemetery,
Carpenter.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the Major
Erickson Funeral Home and until time of services on Thursday.

Konrad A. Schabacker was born Sept. 17, 1964, the son of Konrad
and Beverly (Anderson) Schabacker in Mason City, Iowa.
Konrad attended and graduated from Nora Springs-Rock Falls High
School in 1983. Konrad also worked for HyVee East for 3-4 years
during high school.
He then attended and graduated from Iowa State University in
1987. He worked in Des Moines for one year, in Atlanta for seven
years as a systems analyst and recently moved to Chicago the
first part of this year, working as a computer consultant.
He was a member of the Boy Scouts, Nora Springs-Rock Falls Band
and the All-State Band and Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity at Iowa
State.
He is survived by his mother, Beverly Schabacker of Rock Falls;
and his father, Konrad J. Schabacker of Mason City.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Steven Schabacker in
1987; and his maternal and paternal grandparents.

Eugene L. Mummelthie
SUISUN CITY, Calif.
Eugene L. Mummelthie, 51, died Monday (Nov. 18, 1996) in Suisun
City, Calif.
At his request, there will be no funeral service. The body
was cremated. Bryan-Braker funeral home, Suisun City, is in
charge of arrangements.
Eugene was born May 27, 1945, in Fredericka. He was confirmed
at Zion Lutheran Church, Rockford, in 1959. He graduated from
Rockford High School in 1963. Eugene retired from the Air Force
after 20 years of service and was employed by United Air Lines
in San Francisco at the time of his death.
Survivors include his mother, Esther Mummelthie of Rockford;
his wife, Pauline Mummelthie of Suisun City; one daughter, Christine
Mummelthie of Suisun City; one son, Eugene Mummelthie II of Suisun
City; one grandson; three sisters, Donna Wendt of Sumner, Bert
Ann Ray of Navada and Betty Graham of Madrid; and three brothers,
Duane Mummelthie of Mason City, Bob Mummelthie of Mesa, Ariz.,
and Don Mummelthie of Waverly.

Robert Dean Bonner
CLEAR LAKE
Robert Dean Bonner, 57, of 625 10th Ave N., Clear Lake, died
Saturday (Nov. 16, 1996) at his home.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. today at the Ventura
United Methodist Church with the Rev. David Gobeli officiating.
Interment will be in the Ventura Cemetery.
Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 N. Fourth St., Clear Lake,
is in charge of arrangements.
The family suggests memorials to the Robert Dean Bonner memorial
fund.
Robert was born June 8, 1959, in Swaledale, Iowa, the son of
John Gene and Amanda Flo (Odom) Bonner.
He graduated from Clear Lake High School in 1957. Robert was
baptized at Zion Lutheran Church, Clear Lake, in 1959.
Robert married Deanna Kaster on Nov. 11, 1962 at the E.U.B.
Church in Ventura.
He started working for David Manufacturing Co. in Mason City,
in maintenance, in 1966.
While he worked at DMC, he was active in the local and district
machinist union (I.A.M.) and was local and district union secretary
and later president of local and district unions. He helped organize
the union at Andrew's Prestress Concrete. Robert helped develop the
safety program at DMC.
In 1972, he became involved as a Webolos leader for the Boy
Scouts of America and later a scout leader.
Robert was honored by his fellow scouts and was elected to the
Order of The Arrow, established by the National Brotherhood of
Scout Honor Campers, Sac-N-Fox Lodge. He did maintenance work
and skate sharpening at the North Iowa Ice Arena, where he enjoyed
being around kids and helping them.
Robert enjoyed fishing, camping, trips to northern Minnesota,
working on cars and most of all dancing. Together with his wife,
he was a caretaker of the Ventura Cemetery. He was a member of
Ventura United Methodist Church, Ventura.
Robert is survived by his wife, Deanna Bonner of Clear Lake;
his mother, Amanda (Flo) Bonner of Clear Lake; six children,
Robert Eugene Bonner of Hayfield, Iowa; Anthony Joseph Bonner
and his wife, Dawn, of Rockford; Chad Allen Bonner of Clear
Lake; Angela Ranae` Meyering and her husband, Phil, Ventura;
James Bonner and his wife, Melissa, Ardmore, Okla.; and Barbara
Wells and her husband, Steve, Madill, Okla.; one sister, Mrs.
Betty Arnold and her husband, Jerry, of Clear Lake; 10 grandchildren,
Joshua Dean Meyering, Jacob Wayne Bonner, Jeremy Bonner, Jarred
Bonner, Jesse Wells, Levi Wells, Elizabeth Wells, John Wells,
Amanda Wells and Amy Wells; as well as many nieces, nephews and
a host of friends.
Robert was preceded in death by his father; granddaughter, Harley
Joy Bonner; and grandparents, John and Belva Bonner and Charles

Evelyn F. Patton

Evelyn F. (Mrs. Willis) Patton, 88, of 329 Second St. N.E.,
died Friday (Nov. 15, 1996) at the Good Shepherd Health Center.
There will be no services or visitation. The body will be cremated.
Cremains will be interred at Memorial Park Cemetery. Major
Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave., is in charge
of arrangements.
Memorials may be made to Good Shepherd Health Center in her
memory.
Evelyn was born July 19, 1908, in Fredricksburg, the daughter
of Dr. Howard D. and Blanche (Tompkins) Fallows. Evelyn married
Willis O. Patton on June 9, 1934, in Winona, Minn.
Survivors include one daughter, Ann Strickler and her husband,
Jim, of Oskaloosa; one grandson, Michael Strickler and his wife,
Peggy, of Rochester, N.Y.; and one brother, Ronald F. Fallows
of North Carolina.
