Olga Hennigar

GRAFTON 



Olga Anette Hanson Hennigar, 77 of 408 Second Street, died Saturday

(Nov. 9, 1996) at Good Samaritan Center, St. Ansgar.



Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Grace

Lutheran Church, 302 E. Fourth Street, Hanlontown, with the Rev.

Linda Johnson officiating.  Burial will be in the Rockwell Cemetery,

Rockwell.



Visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. today at Bride Colonial

Chapel, 110 E. Spring Street, Manly, and one hour prior to services

at the church.



Olga Anette Hanson Hennigar was born, Oct. 28, 1919, in Peever,

S.D., the daughter of Hans and Karie P. (Moundal) Hanson.  And

it was in Peever, she was baptized.  Olga was confirmed and attended

school in Park Rapids, Minn.



She married Elwood Hennigar in 1937 and had six children: Cliff,

Carol, Art, Annette, Patty and Nancy.



In 1975, she married Arthur Hennigar, and they moved to Iowa,

farming east of Manly until they retired.  They then moved to

Hanlontown and lived there until Art's death. Olga them moved

to Grafton.



She became a member of the Grace Lutheran Church, Hanlontown

in 1975 and was a member of the Hope Circle.



Olga enjoyed her family and friends, also baking and crocheting

in which she most enjoyed giving these things to other people.



She was a big Minnesota Twins and Iowa Hawkeyes fan.  She also

loved her Elvis collection.



Olga will be missed by her many relatives and friends.



Survivors include three daughters and one son, Carol Dalluge

and her husband Larry of Grafton, Annette McKinney of Dougherty,

Nancy Hennigar of Mason City, and Art Hennigar of Forest City;

one son-in-law, Richard Schwartz I of Manly; 18 grandchildren;

28 great-grandchildren; one sister, Pearl Waytessek of Moorhead,

Minn.; one godson, Roger Hanson; and many nieces and nephews.



She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters; five

brothers; her husband, Arthur Hennigar; her son, Cliff Hennigar;

her daughter, Patricia Schwartz; her grandson, Scott Hennigar;

and her great-grandson, Christian Dalluge.

Alton F. ``Scoop'' Muller, 78, of 711 Sixth Ave., died Sunday

(Nov. 10, 1996) at St. Mary's Hospital, Rochester, Minn.



Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, at St.

John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Main and Gilbert Streets, with

the Revs. Dennis D. Niezwaag and Karen Rask Behling officiating.

Burial will be in the Riverside Cemetery.



Friends may call from 12 noon to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Fullerton

Hage Funeral Home, 401 Blunt Street.  The family will greet friends

from 7 to 9 p.m.  Visitation will continue one hour prior to

services at the church on Wednesday morning.

Bernadine B. Korth

DOWS 



Beradine B. Korth, 77, of 1048 Finch Ave. died Friday (Nov.

8, 1996) at Franklin General Hospital, Hampton.



Funeral services will be held at 1:30 a.m. Tuesday at Morgan

United Methodist Church, Dows, with the Rev. Michael B. Tolles

officiating.  Burial will be in the Morgan Township Cemetery.



Visitation will be held after 3 p.m. today at Willim Funeral

Home, Latimer, with the family available from 6 to 8 p.m.



Bernadine Bertha Korth was born on a farm in Morgan Township

of Franklin County on Sept. 16, 1919, the daughter of Theodore

E. and Lillie (Riis) Korth.  She attended Morgan Township School

through 8th grade and graduated from Dows High School in 1936.

She lived all of her life on the family farm and for a number

of years worked at Christiansen Grocery Store in Coulter.  She

had helped with the ladies groups of Morgan United Methodist

Church.  Bernadine was always there when her family needed her

and was always present at activities that her nieces and nephews

were involved in.  She loved playing bingo.



Those left to cherish her memory include one sister, Irene Watt

and husband, Robert, of Milford; a special friend of many years,

Kenneth Kolb of Thornton; a sister-in-law, Ethol Korth; six nieces;

three nephews; 17 grandnieces and grandnephews; and seven great-

greatnieces and great-grandnephews.



She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Theodore

(Bud) Korth; and two sisters, Linnae Ostegaard and Marcella Denger.

Ruth L. Holm, 96, of 10723 Indigo Ave. died Saturday (Nov. 9,

1996) at Clarion Health Care Center.



Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Willim

Funeral Home, Clarion, with Mark Young of Clarion Church of Christ

officiating.  Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Mason

City.



Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral

home.



Survivors include one son, C. Gifford Holm of Clarion; one grandchild;

two great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Lela Simmonds of Madison,

Wis., and Esther Michelson of Clarion.



She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers,

and one sister.

Hilde E. Hagenbuch

MASON CITY 



Hilde E. Hagenbuch, 88, of 204 Third Street. N.E., died Saturday

(Nov. 9, 1996) at North Iowa Mercy Health Center.



There will be no services or visitation, her body was donated

to the University of Iowa.  Interment will be in Waterloo Memorial

Cemetery. Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave.

is in charge of arrangements.



Hilde E. Hagenbuch was born on September 7, 1908 in Oelwein.



She was preceded in death by her parents, and two brothers.

Sunday (November 10, 1996) at North Iowa Mercy Health Center

Alton F. `Scoop' Muller

CHARLES CITY 



Alton F. ``Scoop'' Muller, 78, 711 Sixth Ave., died Sunday (Nov.

10, 1996) at St. Mary's Hospital, Rochester, Minn., following

a six-week illness.



Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Nov.

13, 1996, at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Main and Gilbert

Streets, with the Rev. Dennis D. Niezwaag and Karen Rask Behling

officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery.



Friends may call from noon to 9 p.m. today at Fullerton Hage

Funeral Home, 401 Blunt St., with the family greeting friends

from 7 to 9 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour prior to services

at the church on Wednesday morning.



Alton Francis ``Scoop'' Muller was born July 9, 1918, in Rudd,

the son of Frederick and Laura (Troge) Muller. He graduated from

Rudd High School in 1936.



On Oct. 6, 1940, at the Rock Creek Lutheran Church, rural Osage,

he married Eileen Ethington. The couple made their home in Charles

City.



For 42 years, Mr. Muller was employed by the former Oliver/White

Farm Tractor Factory in Charles City, both as a press operator

and as a supervisor. He retired in 1978.



Mr. Muller was a member of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church,

where he had served on the church council as well as an usher

and collection teller.



He was a member of the UAW local #1315 of Charles Cty while employed

at Oliver/White Farm.



``Scoop'' was an excellent baseball player in his youth, winning

many awards for his playing. His activity in baseball evolved

into a love of watching baseball as well as softball in Charles

City.



Living family members include his wife, Eileen, of Charles City;

a son and his wife, Steven and Linda Muller, of Stoughton, Wis.;

a daughter and her husband, Shelley and Bradley Glamann of Ramsey,

Minn.; a grandson, James Muller; a brother, Marvin Muller, of

Charles City; and several nieces and nephews.



He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Arlene

Muller Thompson.

Thomas J. `Jerry' Kober

MASON CITY



Thomas J. ``Jerry'' Kober, 71, of 1145 S. Rhode Island Ave.,

died Sunday (Nov. 10, 1996) at North Iowa Mercy Health Center

East.



Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Trinity

Lutheran Church, 213 N. Pennsylvania Ave., with the  Rev. John

Gannett officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Rest Cemetery,

Northwood.



Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Hogan-Bremer

Colonial Chapel, 126 Third St. N.E., and one hour prior to services

at the church.



Thomas J. Kober was born Feb. 13, 1925, at Mason City, the son

of Emil and Nellie (Anderson) Kober.



He graduated from Mason City High School in 1943.



He enlisted in the United States Navy and served in the South

Pacific in World War II.



He was discharged from the United States Navy in 1946 and returned

home to Mason City.



He met Marion Rush and they were married on Jan. 14, 1949. They

made their home in Mason City.



He was a member of the Moose Lodge, and he also enjoyed participating

in the Civil War Re-enactment.



He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.



Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Marion ``Meem''

Kober,  Mason City; his two daughters, Karolyn Knedler and her

husband, Craig, of Ankeny; Barbara Anderson and special friend,

Jerry Hubbard, of Mason City; seven grandchildren, Brandon, Paul,

Justin, Tyler and Kelly Knedler, and Evan and Brooke Anderson;

one sister, Ann Arlene Morrison of Mason City; and numerous nieces

and nephews.



He was preceded in death by his parents.

 




Petra Knutson

LAKE MILLS 



Petra Knutson, 87, of Lake Mills, died Monday (Nov. 11, 1996)

at the Lake Mills Care Center.



Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the

Emmons Lutheran Church, Emmons, Minn., with the Rev. Dennis Johnson

officiating. Burial will be in the Lime Creek Cemetery, rural

Emmons, Minn.



Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Mittelstadt

Funeral Home, and one hour prior to services at the church on

Thursday.



Petra Weblemoe Knutson was born Jan. 6, 1909, in Freeborn County,

Minn., near Silver Lake.



Survivors include one sister, Johanna Weblemoe of Mankato, Minn.;

two stepsons, Harold Knutson of Northwood and Nordine Knutson

of Emmons, Minn.; eight grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.



She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one stepdaughter,

one stepson, six sisters and three brothers.

Frances Zimmerman

CHARLES CITY 



Frances Zimmerman, 86, of Charles City, died Sunday (Nov. 10,

1996) at the Ninth Street Chautauqua Guest Home.



Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Hauser

Funeral Home, 1205 S. Main St., with the Rev. Blair Rhode-Frank,

pastor of the Grace United Methodist Church, Floyd, officiating.

Burial will be in Deerfield Cemetery in Chickasaw County.



Friends may call from 3 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home,

and from 9 a.m. until time of services on Thursday.



Frances Zimmerman was born July 31, 1910, at Jesup.



Survivors include one son, Jim Zimmerman of New Hampton; four

grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.



She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

Mable Truss

MASON CITY 



Mable Truss Jr., 85, of 821 Sixth St. S.W., died Sunday (Nov.

10, 1996) at her home.



There will be no services. There will be no visitation. The

body will be cremated with the remains to be interred in St.

Luke Cemetery, Chicago, Ill., at a later date.



Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave., is in

charge of arrangements.



Memorials may be given to Hospice of North Iowa.



Mable Truss was born Dec. 28, 1910, in Forest City,the daughter

of Axel and Roselia (Johnson) Liljenberg.



In 1929, Mable moved to Chicago where she met and married Wilber

Truss on June 26, 1936.



Mable lived in Chicago her entire life until moving to Mason

City in 1993.



Survivors include four nieces, Elaine Cannella of Mason City;

Marie Thomas of Mason City; Vonita Curbow of Skokie, Ill., and

Rita Boldrini of Escondido, Calif.



She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbur; three sisters

and two brothers.

Benjamin Jason Stuvick

LARCHWOOD



Benjmain Jason Stuvick 18, of Larchwood, died Thursday (Nov.

7, 1996) in Inwood, as the result of a grain elevator accident.



Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday at Bethlehem Lutheran

Church, Inwood, with the Rev. William Breen and the Rev. Dennis

Hanson officiating.



There will be gravesides services at 2 p.m. today at the Strand

Cemetery, rural Villisca, with the Rev. David Strommen officiating.



Roote Funeral Home, Larchwood, is in charge of arrangements.



Benjamin Jason Stuvick was born June 9, 1978, at Red Oak, to

Carlton and Kim (Kyo Sun) Stuvick.



Ben attended Osage Community School through the end of the first

semester, sophomore year, before he transferred to West Lyon

Community School at the start of second semester sophomore year

until his death during his senior year.



Ben enjoyed music (the school band and his own music groups),

Thespian plays, student council and just plain loved people and

people loved him.



He loved to drive and never forgot his friends. He made his

family proud while giving them a few gray hairs.



Ben loved to go to live concerts and get down to where the

action was. Ben had a driving need to interact with people and

always had the time to listen to their problems.



He had the personality to be able to sit down with any group

of people (no matter what age, sex, nationality  or religious

beliefs) and within a matter of hours, he was bonding with them.



He was the heart and soul of his family, friends and community.

He will be missed, but he will always be  remembered with a tear

first and then a big smile because of the beautiful memories

he has left behind.



On Thursday, Nov. 7, 1996, Ben died at Inwood, as of the result

of a grain elevator accident. At the time of his death, he was

18 years, four months and 28 days.



Surviving are his parents, Carlton and Kim Stuvick; and his

sister, Jennifer Stuvick, all of Larchwood;  a maternal grandmother,

Kwen Jem Leel in South Korea; along with numerous aunts, uncles

and cousins.



Preceding him in death were his maternal grandfather, Kim Bok

Su and paternal grandparents, Kenneth and Mildred Stuvick.

Charlene N. `Lady Bird' Lampshire

OWATONNA, Minn. 



Charlene N. ``Lady Bird'' Lampshire, 58, 403 Cindy Lane, died

Tuesday (Nov. 5, 1996) at Cedarview Nursing Home.



Services were held  on Friday, Nov. 8, at the Sacred Heart Church,

Owatonna. Burial was in Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery, Mason City,

Iowa.



Brick-Postlewaite Funeral Home, Owatonna, was in charge of arrangements.



Charlene Paulsen was born March 24, 1938, in Mason City, Iowa,

the daughter of Thomas and Violet (Johnson) Paulsen.



Mrs. Lampshire worked at Cedarview Nursing Home for 15 years.



She was a member of the Owatonna Eagles Auxiliary and was known

as ``Lady Bird'' to truckers using CB radios.



She is survived by two sons, Dwight Wessels of Goodell, Iowa,

and Duane Wessels and his wife, Barbara, of Belmond, Iowa; one

daughter, Lila  Pfleger and her husband, Chad, of Knoxville,

Tenn.; a very special friend and caregiver, Mary Etherton, Owatonna;

four brothers, Tom Paulsen Jr. of Abilene, Texas; Bradley and

Mike Paulsen, both of Mason City, Iowa, and Francis Paulsen,

Lincoln, Neb.; four sisters, Violet Gouge and her husband, John,

of Garner, Iowa; Nicole Helen Birch, Huntington Beach, Calif.;

Phyllis Meyering and her husband, John, of Clear Lake, Iowa;

and Jennifer Goll of Bakersfield, Calif.; four grandchildren;

and nieces and nephews.

Thora Florene Collier, 103, of Friendship Village,  died Monday

(Nov. 11, 1996) at Friendship Village Medical Center, from complications

of a stroke.



Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the

First Presbyterian Church.



Graveside services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Clear

Lake Cemetery, Clear Lake.



Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the O'Keefe & Towne-Grarup

& Waychoff Funeral Home and one hour before services at the church.



Memorials may be directed to the First Presbyterian Church or

to Friendship Village Medical Center Auxiliary, both in Waterloo.



She was born June 25, 1893, in Clear Lake, the daughter of Tom

and Anna Ward Collier.



She graduated from Clear Lake High School and received her B.A.

from Iowa Teachers College (UNI) in 1925.



She taught in Meservey, Wapello and Manly rural schools before

moving to Waterloo.



In Waterloo, she was supervisor of Waterloo Physical Education,

before teaching at East Junior High School and then Logan Junior

High School. She retired in 1958.



She was a past president of the Waterloo Quota Club and past

president and charter member of the Waterloo Art Club.



She is survived by one nephew and one niece.

Conception Church, U.S. Highway 18 and Clark Streets, with Monsignor

Stanley J. Hayek officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.

Hage Funeral Home, 401 Blunt St., with a 7 p.m. Scripture service

and from 9 a.m. until  11:30 a.m. Thursday. Visitation will continue

one hour prior to services at the church.



Leo H. Zajic was born June 28, 1922, in Lucan, Minn.



Survivors include his wife, Ethel; one son, Gary ``Zeke'' Zajic

of Charles City; two daughters, Marlys Zajic and Donna Martin,

both of Charles City; three brothers, Aloise of St. Paul, Minn.;

Henry of Tyler, Minn., and Jerry of Roseville, Minn.; three sisters,

Evelyn Marks of Milroy, Minn.; Marianne Weinzetl of Sioux Falls,

Blanche Evelyn Gourley was born Aug. 3, 1916, at Eagle Grove.



Survivors include her children, Edward Gourley of Corwith; Judy

Gourley of Wausau, Wis.; Joan Holck of Clear Lake, and Janene

Studer of Wesley; 10 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.



She was preceded in death by her husband, two sons, three brothers

and one sister.

Mrs. Lois M. Wilson, 77, of Meservey, died Tuesday (Nov 12,

1996) at the Oakwood Care Center, Clear Lake.



Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Ward-Van

Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 N. Fourth St., Clear Lake, with the

Rev. Kermit Roisen of Zion Lutheran Church officiating. Interment

will be in Clear Lake Cemetery.



Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. today at the funeral home.



The family suggests memorials be given to the Lois M. Wilson

Memorial Fund.



Lois was born Oct. 8, 1919, in Cerro Gordo County, the daughter

of Lewis and Lydia (Hoppe) Kennedy.



She attended and graduated from Meservey High School in 1937.



Lois married Robert ``Jim'' Wilson on Feb. 17, 1939, in Mason

City.



They farmed south of Ventura and later operated Jim's Restaurant

in Crystal Lake. They moved south of Ventura and later to Meservey.



She loved to do gardening, canning and crocheting.



Lois is survived by her husband, Robert ``Jim'' Wilson of Meservey;

daughter, Carlene Wilson, Meservey; three sisters, Luella Marshall;

Lorene Haddy and her husband, Frank, and Lucille Anderson and

her husband, Carroll, all of Clear Lake; one brother, Lloyd Kennedy

and his wife, Sally, of Clear Lake; three sisters-in-law, Marie

Hamann of Ventura; Phyllis Kennedy, Clear Lake, and Lucille Wilson

of Ventura; one brother-in-law, Bill Wilson and his wife, Elsie,

of Ventura; one grandson, Doug Wilson of Meservey; and one great-

grandson, Michael Wilson of Clear Lake.



She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Roger Dean

Wilson on Sept. 2, 1996; one brother, Leonard ``Dude'' Kennedy;

and one sister, Loretta Neal.

Survivors include his wife, Norma, of Latimer; one daughter,

Darwin of Iowa Falls, and Delbert of Latimer; three sisters,

Pat Abbas of Geneva; Barb Powers of LaJunta, Colo., and Bonnie

Dohlman of Hampton; 11 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.



He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and

one great-grandson.

Christian B. Charlson

LELAND 



Christian B. Charlson, 87, of Leland, died Tuesday (Nov. 12,

1996) at the Lake Mills Care Center.



Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the West

Prairie Lutheran Church in rural Leland, with the Rev. Dan Christensen

officiating. Burial will be in the Oakland Cemetery, Forest City.



Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church.



Petersen Lund Funeral Home, Forest City, is in charge of arrangements.



Christian B. Charlson was born on a farm near Leland, on Feb.

22, 1909, the son of Christ and Emma (Olson) Charlson. He received

his education in rural schools.



On Sept. 30, 1940, he was married to Pearl Anderson at the Lutheran

Parsonage in Lake Mills.



Chris and Pearl began farming west of Forest City. In 1944,

they moved to a farm place north of Leland where he had lived

since. Pearl died in 1986.



Chris loved steam engines and attending threshing shows.



He liked tinkering in his shop on the farm and stayed active

in farming until he went to the nursing home in 1990.



He was willing to help with whatever people asked of him and

was always there when his children needed him.



He was a member of West Prairie Lutheran Church in Leland.



Chris died at the Lake Mills Care Center in Lake Mills, on Nov.

12, 1996, at the age of 87 years.



He is survived by a daughter and her husband, Lois and Lon Andersen

of Marion; three sons and their spouses, Larry and Jan Charlson

of Thompson; Dale and Barbara Charlson of Clear Lake, and Paul

and Pat Charlson of Leland; a brother, Joseph Charlson of Lake

Mills; 11 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Urban ``Barney'' Peffer, 98, of Algona, died Wednesday (Nov.

13, 1996) at the Kossuth County Care Facility.



Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Sacred

Heart Catholic Church, Livermore, with the Rev. Lynn Bruch officiating.

Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Livermore.



Visitation will begin after 3 p.m. today at the Wilson Funeral

Home, Livermore, with a 3 p.m. rosary and a 7 p.m. Scripture

reading. There will be a family prayer service at 10 a.m. Saturday.



Urban Peffer was born Jan. 10, 1898, at Humboldt County.



Survivors include three sisters, Louise Dvorak of Fremont, Neb.;

and Suzanne Beisch and Catharin B. Pfeffer, both of Algona.



He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and seven

sisters.

She was a former resident of Mason City, moving to New Market

in 1977. She was the widow of Shelby Murren, who died in 1983.

Ruby E. Godfrey was born May 24, 1897, in LuVerne.



Survivors include one brother, DeRae Godfrey of Mason City;

Lowell E. `Hop' Maxson

GREENE



A funeral Mass for Lowell E. ``Hop'' Maxson, 87, of 314 N.

Main, will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Saturday (Nov. 16, 1996)

at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Greene, with Monsignor Walter

Brunkan officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.



Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today at Reid's

Funeral Chapel, where there will be a Scriptural wake service

at 7:30 p.m. followed by a rosary service.



Lowell Earl Maxson was born June 6, 1909, in rural Union Township,

Floyd County, a son of Earl and Doris (Fiddick) Maxson, and died

Wednesday (Nov. 13, 1996), at his home in Greene of cancer.



At the age of 4, he and his family moved into Greene where he

received his education at the Westside School and Greene High

School.



Following his graduation in 1927, he and his mother started

a dry cleaning business named Maxson Cleaners in which he operated

until 1951. He then became engaged in raising turkeys until his

retirement in 1973.



On Oct. 9, 1937, he was united in marriage to Cecile Aileen

Nettleton at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Greene. To this union

was born one daughter.



Hop was a member of the Greene Volunteer Fire Department and

was fire chief for 23 years. During this time, he was recognized

by receiving the Governor's Award as Outstanding Fireman. He

was former city clerk, chairman of the cemetery boards, former

member of the Butler County Conservation Board and a member of

the Butler County and Greene Centennial Boards.



He was a faithful member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church in

Greene, where he served on the church council, and was a lay

distributor and lector. As a pastime, he enjoyed fishing, gardening,

playing cards and reading.



Living family members include his loving wife of 59 years, Ceil

of Greene; his daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Erick Seim

of Cerritos, Calif.; one sister, Beth Johnson of Waterloo; two

brothers, Glen Maxson of Greene, and Dale Maxson of Fayette;

and several nieces and nephews.



He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Lyle

Maxson.



Those planning an expression of sympathy may direct memorials

to the Lowell Maxson Memorial Fund in care of the family.

Thora Anderson

CLEAR LAKE



Thora Anderson, 105, died Wednesday (Nov. 13, 1996) at the

Oakwood Care Center, Highway 18 West.



Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Zion

Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Dean Hess officiating. Burial

will be in Coulter Cemetery, Coulter.



Visitation will be held from 5 to 7:30 p.m. today at Ward-Van

Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 N. Fourth St.



The family suggests memorials in her name.



Thora was born Nov. 29, 1890, in Hjerm, Denmark, the daughter

of Mads and Ana Waldmar.



She came to the United States with her parents in 1904 at the

age of 14 years. The family settled in Coulter.



On Aug. 27, 1910, Thora was united in marriage to Nels R. Anderson

in Coulter. The couple farmed in the Coulter area until moving

to the Thornton area to farm. They later moved south of Clear

Lake to farm, retiring in 1950. At that time, they moved into

Clear Lake. Nels preceded her in death Feb. 25, 1974.



Thora became a citizen of the United States of America in April

of 1922.



She was well known in the area for mittens, scarves and stocking

caps she knitted and gave away. She also enjoyed raising African

violets, along with other flowers.



She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Clear Lake and an

honorary member of Hope Circle. She was also a member of Danish

Brotherhood.



She is survived by a daughter-in-law, Margaret Anderson of Clear

Lake; a granddaughter, Carolyn Levenhagen, Clear Lake; four grandsons,

Gary Anderson; Dennis Anderson and his wife, Marcia, and David

Anderson and his wife, Judy, all of Clear Lake, and John David

Anderson and his wife, Nancy, of Silverton, Ore.; 11 great-grandchildren;

and eight great-great-grandchildren.



She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two sons,

Marvin and Earl Anderson; a daughter-in-law, Helen Anderson;

three brothers; and three sisters.

There was no visitation. The body was cremated.

Stella M. Parks, 78, of 1531 Sixth Place S.E., died Tuesday

(Nov. 12, 1996) at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit.

Colonial Chapel, 126 Third St. N.E., is in charge of arrangements.



Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. today at St. John's

Episcopal Church, 120 First St. N.E., with the Rev. Robert Towner

officiating. Inurnment will be in the Corwith Cemetery, Corwith.



Stella M. Parks was born Oct. 18, 1918, in Mason City, daughter

of Albert E. and Anne (Lewis) Bower.



Stella was raised in Mason City. She was married to Kenneth

Schroeder until he preceded her in death in 1966.



She then was married to Morris Parks and they lived in Hampton,

where she operated her own Ceramic Shop. In 1985, she retired

and returned to Mason City.



She loved to play bingo. She was involved with the Girl Scouts

for 25 years and was an active member and president of the Fraternal

Order of Eagles.



Survivors include a daughter-in-law, Pam Awe and her husband,

Joe, of Corwith; two sisters, Doris Marson of Mason City, and

Genevieve Johnson and her husband, Harold, of Britt; eight grandchildren,

Tawnya Parks of Forest City; Kelly Parks and Gerald Awe, both

of Corwith; Jeff, Jody, Jayme, Jessica and Justin McFadden, all

of Des Moines; and two great-grandchildren.



She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Richard Parks;

one daughter, Donna Thompson; two sisters; and one brother.

Elizabeth J. Petersen

Elizabeth J. Petersen, 85, of 329 Second St. N.E., died Wednesday

(Nov. 13, 1996) at the Good Shepherd Health Center.



Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Trinity

Lutheran Church, 213 N. Pennsylvania Ave., with the Rev. Kenneth

Hatland officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.



Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Major Erickson

Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave., and one hour prior to

services at the church.



Memorials may be given to the KCMR Radio or Trinity Lutheran

Church.



Elizabeth Petersen was born March 7, 1911, in Canyon City, Colo.,

the daughter of Linus Irwin and Rose Olive (Johnston) Stewart.



She moved to Garner in 1917 and graduated from Garner High School

in 1928.



She received her normal training and taught country school in

the Garner area.



Elizabeth married Niels P. Petersen on Aug. 10, 1937, in Garner.



The Petersens moved to Mason City in 1946, where Elizabeth was

an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church and the Universal

Study Club.



Survivors include one daughter, Nancy Wood and her husband,

Robert, of Cheshire, Conn.; one grandson, David Houston Wood;

one granddaughter, Barrett Elizabeth Wood; and many nieces and

nephews.



She was preceded in death by her husband, Niels; and four sisters.
