Anna Bertha Liittschwager, 87, died Thursday (June 13, 1996)

at the Nora Springs Care Center.



Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Paul's

Lutheran Church, Buckeye.  Burial will be in the Buckeye Cemetery.



Visitation will be held from noon to 8 p.m. Monday at Linn's

Funeral Home, Iowa Falls, with the family receiving friends from

6 to 8 p.m.



Memorials may be directed to the family.



Anna Bertha Lettow Liittschwager was born Oct. 30, 1908 in Hardin

County.



Survivors include one son, John M. Liittschwager of Iowa City;

one daughter, Lucinda Ann Lowery of Nora Springs; seven grandchildren;

four great-grandchildren; and one sister, Bertha Blome of Alden.



She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and six brothers.

Ruth M. Thatcher, 85, died Saturday (June 15, 1996) at the Osage

Rehabilitation and Health Center.



Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Champion

Funeral Home with the Rev. Rick Magstadt officiating.  The body

was cremated and there is no visitation.  Burial of the cremains

will be at a later date in Lyons, Neb.



Ruth M. Thatcher was born Nov. 16, 1910 in Ossian.



Survivors include one son, Stephen Thatcher of Osage; one brother,

Cornell Mayer of Alexandria, Va.; two grandchildren; and two

great-grandchildren.



She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son,

and two sisters.

LeRoy C. Martinson

EMMONS, Minn. 



LeRoy C. Martinson, 74, died Friday (June 14, 1996) at his home.



Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at St. James

Catholic Church, Twin Lakes, Minn., with the Rev. Donald Zenk

officiating.  Interment will be in St. Theodores Cemetery.  Military

honors will be accorded by area servicemen's organizations.



Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the Bayview/Freeborn

Funeral Home, Albert Lea, Minn.  There will be a prayer service

at 7:30 p.m.  Visitation will also be held one hour prior to

the service at the church on Monday.



LeRoy C. Martinson was born May 22, 1922 in Leland, the son

of Jeffrey and Theressa (Vaage Hestad) Martinson.  He attended

school in Lake Mills and Emmons.  LeRoy served in the U.S. Army

from 1942-1945.  On July 1, 1946, he was united in marriage to

Mary E. (Betty) Lair at the Church of St. Theodore, Albert Lea.



LeRoy farmed until 1967.  He owned and operated the Corner Store

in Emmons until 1973.  He was also employed at Albert Lea Wholesale

during that time.  He was a member of St. James Catholic Church,

and a 50-year member of the Emmons American Legion.



Survivors include his wife, Betty, of Emmons; daughter, Mary

and her husband, Paul Sorenson, of Lake Mills, son Michael and

his wife, Jane Martinson, of Colorado Springs, Colo., son Daniel

and his wife, Becky Martinson, of Joice, daughter Barbara Vermedahl

of Lake Mills, son Mark and his wife, Laurie Martinson, of Eagan,

Minn.; 11 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; his sister,

Arlene Yost of Emmons; brother, Don and his wife, Blanche Martinson,

of Red Wing, Minn.; sister, Maxine and her husband, Bill Bartlett,

of Mesa, Ariz.; and many nieces and nephews.



LeRoy was preceded in death by his parents; one great-grandchild;

and a sister, Lou Jean Hoiseth.

County Regional Health Center.



Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Sacred Heart

Catholic Church with the Rev. Dennis Cahill officiating.  Burial

will be in the Osage Cemetery.



Visitation will be held after 2:30 p.m. Monday at Champion Funeral

Home, with a Rosary at 3 p.m. and a scripture service at 7:30

p.m.



Allan J. Thome II was born Jan. 7, 1972 in Fairfield, Calif.



Survivors include his parents, Allan and Karel (Osborne) Thome

of Osage; four sisters, Tari Fluette of Osage, Regina Mishler

of Waterloo, Tracey Banta of La Porte, Texas, and Rebekkah Thome

of San Diego, Calif.; his grandparents, Ralph and Mildred Thome

of Osage, and Cedrick Osborne of Rufus, Ore.



He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother.

Fredrick W. Peatow, 73, died Friday (June 14, 1996) in Cannon

Falls, Minn.



Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Messiah

Lutheran Church with the Rev. Curt Schneider officiating.  Burial

will be at a later date.



Friends may call at the Messiah Lutheran Church from 11:30 a.m.

until time of services.  Hauser Funeral Home is in charge of

arrangements.



Fredrick William Peatow was born May 16, 1923 in Reinbeck.



Survivors include his wife, Lillian Peatow of Cannon Falls,

Minn.; two daughters, Patricia Erikstrup of Burnsville, Minn.,

and Linda Kay Rifenberick of Cannon Falls, Minn.; one son, Edward

A. Peatow of Ojai, Calif.; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild;

two sisters, Margaret Tehel of Harpers Ferry, and Ruth Reynard

of Bucyrus, Mo.



He was preceded in death by his parents, and infant twin brothers.

in an auto accident.

be in Hampton Cemetery.

Glenn D. Craighton was born March 14, 1971, in Hampton.



Survivors include his parents, Daniel and Connie Craighton of

MASON CITY 



Velma J. Grippen, 87, died Saturday (June 15, 1996) at North

Iowa Mercy Health Center, Mason City, following a short illness.



A resident of Mason City for 64 years, she had lived in Glorieta,

N.M.,  for the past year and a half.



Major-Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave., Mason

City, is in charge of arrangements.  There will be no visitation

or funeral service.



Memorials may be directed to the NIACC Foundation or a charity

of the donor's choice.



Velma was born Oct. 29, 1908, in Ulmer, Iowa, the daughter of

Dr. Edwin and Augusta Bookhart.



She graduated from Ida Grove High School and earned both bachelors

and masters degrees from the University of Iowa.  While pursuing

the latter, she was a Fellow of the Carnegie Institute for the

Advancement of Teaching.



In 1930 she married Charles Grippen and the couple moved to

Mason City.



Velma taught communication skills at Mason City Junior College

and North Iowa Area Community College for 18 years, retiring

in 1972.



Earlier, she had been active in Little Theatre, directing comedies

for adults and tales for children.



Her other interests were universal,  encompassing gardening,

flower arranging, puppetry, flower show judging, the MacNider

Art Museum, Mason City Public Library, North Iowa Band Festival

and Girl Scouts.



She also cared for several house-bound elderly and tutored foreign

students from the University of Iowa and Iowa State University.



She is remembered by one of her students as ``a vital human

being with a sense of honor and commitment as well as a profound

belief in humor.''



Velma was a member of Alpha Delta Pi Sorority, Chapter DZ of

PEO, Novel Club, National Retired Teachers Assocation and AARP.



She also served as permanent president of her graduating class

at the University of Iowa.



She is survived by two daughters, Gail Bryant of Glorieta, N.M.,

and Roberta Ringold of Mt. Vernon; grandchildren, David and Kim

Bryant and John and David Ringold; and a sister, Ila Kittleson

of St. Ansgar.



She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and one sister.

Jeffrey Joe Ream was born Sept. 18, 1968, in Mason City, the

son of Joe Ream and Viriginia (Phillips) Doland.



Jeff grew up in Mason City and graduated from Mason City High

School in 1987.  He served in the U.S. Air Force and was stationed

in Rapid City, S.D.  He had been employed at Curries Manufacturing

for the past two years.  Jeff will be sadly missed by his family

and friends.



Survivors include his mother, Virginia Doland, and step-father,

Charlie, of Mason City; his father, Joe Ream of Orlando, Fla.;

one brother, Scott Ream and his fiancee, Jaysen Kapler, of Waterloo;

one half-sister, Jodi Ream of Orlando, Fla.; two stepsisters,

Tammy Smith and her husband, Mickey, of Mason City, and Christine

Dirksen and her husband, Paul, of Plymouth; two stepbrothers,

Ronald Doland and his wife, Marci, of Manly, and Matthew Doland

of Forest City; his grandmother, Edith Ream of Omaha, Neb.; and

several nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles.



He was preceded in death by his grandparents, LeRoy Ream  and

Howard Phillips and Lois Phillips-Hunter.

He is survived by his wife, Mary-Lou (Austgen) Knoke; sons,

Bruce and his wife, Darlene, and Dorance L. Jr.; daughter, Roberta

Ann Knoke; grandchildren, Alicia, Robert, Jeanne, Matthew and

Michael; stepdaughters, Diane Autgen and Kathleen Marier; and

brothers, Eldo, Lester and LuVerne.

City.

LaVonne Maxine Buttjer Ritter was born Feb. 5, 1924, in Clarksville.



Survivors include her husband, Donald, of Greene; two sons,

Donald Patrick II of Newnan, Ga., and Douglas of Greene; two

daughters, Diane Wihlm and Darla Ritter, both of Greene; one

brother, Richard E. Buttjer of Charles City; and two sisters,

Margaret Wetherell and Heleyne Stevenson, both of Charles City;

and three grandchildren.



She was preceded in death by her parents and a twin sister.

Alice Birkedal, 77, died Saturday (June 15, 1996) at her rural

home.



Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Rock Creek

Lutheran Church, rural Osage, with the Rev. Roger Hoppenworth

officiating.  Burial will be in the Rock Creek Cemetery.



Visitation will be held from 6:30 to 9 p.m. today at the Champion

Funeral Home, and will continue one hour prior to services at

the church.



Alice Birkedal was born Aug. 30, 1918, at Quasqueton, the daughter

of Prentiss and Nina (Morton) Turner.  Alice graduated from

Independence High School in 1936 and Independence Junior College

in 1939, continuing her education at Iowa State Teachers College,

where she received her teacher's certificate.  Alice taught in

rural schools for four years, and one year in Colwell, before

moving to Nora Springs in 1946.  She started the kindergarten

program in Nora Springs and taught kindergarten for three years.

Alice was united in marriage to Palmer Birkedal on Dec. 11, 1949,

at Independence.  They farmed in Mitchell County.



She was an active member of the Rock Creek Lutheran Church

where she taught Sunday school and was a member of the Lydia

and Mary circles.



She found great enjoyment in needlework and caring for plants

and flowers. But her family was the center of her life. She took

great delight in being a mother and a grandmother. She was a

great example of faith for her family and friends.



Survivors include her husband, Palmer Birkedal of Osage; a daughter,

Nina Bates and her husband, the Rev. John Bates, of rural Rudd;

four sons, the Rev. Paul Birkedal and his wife, Karen, of Clermont,

Mark Birkedal and his wife, Char, of Nora Springs, Philip Birkedal

and his wife, Julie, of Mason City, and Dr. John Birkedal and

his wife, Mary Lynn, of Winston-Salem, N.C.; and 12 grandchildren,

Matthew and Allison Bates, Sarah, Rachel and Nathan Birkedal,

Brian, Scott and Eric Birkedal, Clare and David Birkedal and

Ashley and Shelby Birkedal.

Monday (June 17, 1996) at Floyd County Memorial Hospital, Charles

City.

First Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Galen E. Smith officiating.

Burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery.



Irma Francis Hillman was born July 7, 1916, in rural Union Township,

Floyd County.



She is survived by two daughters, Joyce Miller of Platteville,

Wis., and Janet Ives Eddy of Woodland, Calif.; two sons, Robert

Fiddick of Cedar Falls, and Donald Fiddick of Greene; eight grandchildren;

three great-grandchildren; one sister, Beth Reinhart of Marble

Rock; and one brother, Dale Hillman of Carson City, Nev.



She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, two

sisters, her husband and two grandchildren.

Harvey Eldo Knudson

Harvey Eldo Knudson, 87, of rural Fertile, died Monday (June

17, 1996) at his home.



Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at the

Fertile Lutheran Church with the Rev. Roger Kampstra officiating.

Burial will be in the Blairsburg Cemetery, Blairsburg.



Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Ward-Van

Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 N. Fourth St., Clear Lake, and one

hour prior to services at the church on Thursday.



Harvey Eldo Knudson was born on Nov. 21, 1908, in Winnebago

County near Rake, the son of Lewis and Mabel (Gobel) Knudson.



He attended and received his education in the rural country

school system near Radcliffe.



After completing his schooling, he worked on the family farm

helping his parents.



Prior to his marriage, he began farming for himself near Williams.



He was united in marriage to Evelyn Chantrill on Sept. 12, 1937,

in Blairsburg.



After their marriage together, they continued to farm in the

Williams area until 1941, when they moved to Glenville, Minn.,

farming in the Glenville area until 1944, when they moved to

the Clear Lake area farming there until 1953. They farmed  in

the Fertile area until 1968 when they retired from farming.



After his retirement, he began working for Winnebago Industries

in Forest City in the maintenance department until his retirement

in 1971.



After his retirement, Harvey and Evelyn continued to live on

their farm.



He loved to work and enjoyed playing cards especially 500 and

pinochle.



He was a member of Fertile Lutheran Church.



Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Evelyn Knudson of Fertile;

one daughter, Mary Ann DeArmand and her husband, Richard, of

Phoenix, Ariz.; three sons, Lloyd Knudson Sr. and his wife, Loni,

of Fertile; Lyle Knudson and his wife, Judith, of Blairsburg,

and Richard Knudson and his wife, Penny, of Alexandria, Minn.;

nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Gladys

Law of Clear Lake, and Verna Pierce and her husband, Ory, of

Virginia Beach, Va., as well as other relatives and friends.



He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Myron

and Clarence Knudson.

Alice Edel Whalen

Alice Edel Whalen, 78, died Thursday (June 13, 1996) at her

home in Whitefish Bay, Wis.



A memorial service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at St.

Monica's Catholic Church, Milwaukee.



Alice Whalen was born Oct. 28, 1917, at Haverhill, Iowa, the

daughter of Charles H. and Anna (Stalzer) Edel.



The family moved to the Mason City, Iowa, area when she was

6 years old and she graduated from St. Joseph's High School at

Mason City, Iowa, in 1935.



After a business course at Hamilton Business College, she worked

at Peoples Gas & Electric, now Interstate Power and then the

First National Bank in Mason City, Iowa.



On May 17, 1941, she married Marvin F. Whalen and the couple

moved to Chicago, Ill., then to Appleton, Wis., and later to

Milwaukee.



She lived for her family and her grandchildren and her great-granddaughter.



Survivors include her son, Marvin and his wife, Susan, of Milwaukee;

four grandchildren, Peter, Mark, Alycanne and  Timothy; and one

great-granddaughter, Savannah; a brother, Elmer Edel of Mason

City, Iowa; four sisters, Louise Hofler of Nora Springs, Iowa;

Joan Stover of St. Paul, Minn.; Barbara Carman of Topeka, Kan.,

and Karen McGrath of Milwaukee; and many nieces and nephews.



She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin F. Whalen;

her parents; a brother, Clair; and three sisters, Irene Pedelty,

Esther Gump and Shirley Peck.

Blanche E. Thompson, 86, formerly of 2105 Clark St., and the

Oak Park area, died Saturday (June 15, 1996) at the Ninth Street

Chautauqua Guest Home.



Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Fullerton

Hage Funeral Home, 401 Blunt St., with the Rev. Arthur C. Wegner

Jr., pastor of the Faith Bible Chapel, officiating. Burial will

be in the Riverside Cemetery.



Visitation will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. today and from 9 a.m.

until time of services Wednesday at the funeral home.



Blanche E. Thompson was born Oct. 17, 1909, in Des Moines.



She is survived by five children, Earl Thompson of Missouri;

Otis ``Lyle'' Thompson of Perry; Neal Thompson of Nashua; Doris

Wilson of Charles City; David Thompson of Hinkley, Minn., and

Rose Mary Dawson of Dallas, Texas; 30 grandchildren; and 50 great-

grandchildren.



She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three children,

one grandson and one great-granddaughter.

James Hegland was born April 17, 1924, in St. Ansgar.



Survivors include his wife, Dorothy, of St. Ansgar; two daughters,

Lowana Hannam of St. Ansgar and Rebecca Hegland of St. Ansgar;

four sons, Michael of Cedar Rapids; David of St. Michael, Minn.;

Timothy of St. Michael, Minn., and James of Hastings, Minn.;

two sisters, Dorothy Jean Harris and Sue Blumentals, both of

Minneapolis, Minn.; one brother, Thomas Hegland of Brainerd,

Minn.; and 16 grandchildren.

friends from 6 to 8 p.m. and one hour prior to services on Thursday

at the church.



Jeannette Julia Talsma Nootnagel was born Aug. 1, 1906, in Alton.



Survivors include one son, Robert Nootnagel of Charles City;

two daughters, Betty Beaumont of Evansdale, and Bonnie Calentine

of Sabula; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and three

stepgrandchildren.

Irma Francis Fiddick

GREENE



Funeral services for Irma Francis Fiddick, 79, of 105 N. Fifth

St., Greene, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the First

Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Galen E. Smith officiating.

Burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery.



Visitation will be held from 9 to 9 p.m. today at Reid's Funeral

Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m.

Visitation will continue one hour prior to services Thursday

at the church.



Irma Francis Hillman was born July 7, 1916, in rural Union Township,

Floyd County, a daughter of Leonard and Addie (Greer) Hillman,

and died Monday (June 17, 1996) at the Floyd County Memorial

Hospital, Charles City, after a short illness.



She received her education in rural schools near Packard and

graduated from Greene High School in 1933.



As a young lady, she was employed by Stager's Cafe and later

by attorney Ralph M. Doore, both in Greene.



On Dec. 23, 1938, she was united in marriage to Floyd Raymond

Fiddick in Greene. They made their home in Greene until 1942,

when they moved to the Fiddick family farm where they remained

until 1971 when they retired and returned to town.



Mr. Fiddick died on April 5, 1983.



Irma was a faithful member of the First Presbyterian Church

in Greene where she served as Sunday school superintendent for

several years, an active member of the U.P.W., and did volunteer

work for the Red Cross.



As a pastime, she enjoyed traveling, playing cards, reading

and cooking.



Living family members include two daughters: Joyce Miller of

Platteville, Wis., and Janet Ives Eddy and her husband, Donald,

of Woodland Hills, Calif.; two sons, Robert and his wife, Juanita

Fiddick of Cedar Falls, and Donald and his wife, Nancy Fiddick

of Greene; eight grandchildren, Bryan and Michael Miller, James

Fiddick, Julie Nook, Lisa Eddy, Jennifer Duffield, Elizabeth

and Brenda Fiddick; three great-grandchildren, Sherri, Angela

and Sara Miller; one sister, Beth and her husband, Roger Reinhart

of Marble Rock; and one brother, Dale Hillman of Carson City,

Nev. She also is survived by one sister-in-law, Irene Flack of

Charles City.



She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Gale

and Donald Hillman; twin sisters in infancy; her husband; and

two grandchildren, Jason Fiddick and Joseph Fiddick.

Mrs. Robert LaDelle L. Angell, 76, of 313 N. Hampshire Ave.,

died Tuesday afternoon (June 18, 1996) at the Muse Norris Hospice

Inpatient Unit surrounded by her family.



Funeral services for LaDelle will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday

at the First Convenant Church, U.S. Highway 18 East at Ohio,

with the Rev. Richard G. Murray, pastor of the church, and assisted

by Kathy Graves-Johnson, chaplain of Hospice. Interment will

be at Memorial Park Cemetery.



Visitation will be held after 2 p.m. today at the Fullerton

Patterson James Funeral Chapel, 123 Second St. S.E., and again

one hour prior to services at the church.



LaDelle was born March 31, 1920, in Mason City, the only daughter

of Reece R. and Laura (Allen) Henderson.



She attended school in Mason City and then worked as a clerk

for F.W. Woolworth before raising her family.



She was one of the first members of the First Covenant Church,

where she remained a member the rest of her life. Early in her

membership, she took care of the nursery and taught Sunday school.



LaDelle was united in marriage to Robert F. Angell on April

14, 1951, in Kirksville, Mo., and to this marriage were born

four children.



She was a great mother and mother-in-law by having a hidden

talent for giving advice only when asked.



She had been a consecutive member of the V.F.W. Auxillary for

the past 58 years and served as a president of the organization.



She also was a member of the Scampers Camping Club and enjoyed

spending time at her favorite camping grounds at Sibley State

Park, near Wilmer and at Alexander, Minn.



She also enjoyed playing cribbage, working puzzles and taking

care of her cat.



She will be sadly missed by her loving husband, Robert; their

three daughters, Mrs. Dean (Donna) Kilgore, of Poteet, Texas;

Mrs. Larry (Linda) Craig of Tacoma, Wash., and Mrs. Francis (Kathy)

Shannon of Mason City; her son, Robert B. Angell of Mason City;

nine adoring grandchildren, Dean Jr., Daniel, Dustin and Dennis

Kilgore, Larry Jr., and Tinamarie Craig, Laura Warner, Adam and

Teresa Shannon; five great-grandchildren, Jennifer, Katie, Allen

Joshua, TyLynn and Crystal; her three cousins; and her in-laws.



She was preceded in death by her parents.

HAMPTON



Robert Dale Van Blair Sr., 67, of Hampton, died Monday (June

17, 1996) at the Hampton Care Center.



Memorial services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at Sietsema-Vogel

Funeral Home, with the Rev. David Nelson officiating.



There will be no visitation. The body was donated to University

Hospitals in Iowa City.



Robert Dale Van Blair Sr. was born July 29, 1928, in Fort Dodge.



Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Van Blair of Hampton; five

sons, Jeffrey Van Blair of Newton; Robert Van Blair Jr. of Boonville;

Roger Van Blair of San Diego, Calif.; Rick Van Blair of Knightsville,

Fla., and Stacy Van Blair of Urbandale; one daughter, Debra Witcraft

of Hampton; one sister, Bernadine Kaiser of Nora Springs; and

13 grandchildren.



He was preceded in death by his parents.

Gladys L. Mansmith, 82, of 113 21st St. S.E., died Tuesday

Lutheran Church, 213 N. Pennsylvania Ave., with the Rev. Kenneth

services at the church on Friday.



Memorials may be given to the Alzheimer's Association in memory

of Gladys L. Mansmith.



Gladys L. Mansmith was born Nov. 21, 1913, in Blooming Prairie,

Minn., the daughter of Walter and Bertha (May) Schultz.



She attended school in Grafton.



After moving to Mason City, Gladys was employed by Jacob E.

Decker and Sons.



She married Harold Mansmith on Nov. 6, 1937, in Mason City.



For a number of years, she was employed by the Mason City School

System working in the cafeteria.



Gladys was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, past member

of D.A.V. auxiliary and Women of the Moose.



She enjoyed reading, playing cards, gardening, sewing and spending

time with her four grandchildren.



She will be sadly missed by her loving husband, Harold ``Willie''

Mansmith of Mason City; one daughter, Sheryl Weiner and her

husband, Gary, of Rockwell; grandchildren, Matthew, Brent, Sarah

and Lindsay, all of Rockwell; one sister, Irene Bakker of Mason

City; and many nieces, nephews and in-laws.



She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers and

one sister.

Gene F. Myers, 66, of 302 Second St. N.E., died Tuesday (June

18, 1996) at the North Iowa Mercy Health Center East.



Funeral services will be held  at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Trinity

Lutheran Church, 213 N. Pennylvania Ave., with the Rev. Nils

C. ``Chris'' Hellevik officiating. Burial will be in Memorial

Park Cemetery.



Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church.



Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave., is in

charge of arrangements.



Memorials may be given to the Gene F. Myers Memorial Fund.



Gene F. Myers was born Oct. 25, 1929, in Mason City, the son

of Walter C. and Sabra (McCoy) Myers.



Gene graduated from Mason City High School.



He enlisted in the United States Navy in 1948 and served during

the Korean Conflict. He was discharged in 1952.



Gene lived in California from 1952 until 1995.



While living in California, he worked as a machinist at Allied

Signal 40 years, retiring in 1991.



In 1995 he moved to Mason City.



Gene was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church and enjoyed

the outdoors.



Survivors include one daughter, Janice Stillion and her husband,

Dan, of Corona, Calif.; a daughter, Clairlyn Reed and her husband,

Hank, of West Los Angeles, Calif.; a daughter, Connie Sheetz

of Reno, Nev.; one son, Arnie Anderson and his wife, Cindy, of

Dows; seven grandchildren, John, Matthew, Becky, Kim, Danielle,

Kari and Mark; two great-grandchildren, Rachel and Andrew; sister,

Evelyn Erznoznik and her husband, Herman, of Big Pine, Calif.;

one brother, Jack Myers and his wife, Wilma, of Sacramento, Calif.;

a twin sister, Jeanette Venz and her husband, Griffin, of Mason

City; and nieces and nephews.



He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; one sister, Ruth;

and two brothers, Robert and Roy Myers.

Wednesday (June 19, 1996) at the Ninth Street Chautauqua Guest

Home, Charles City.



A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St.

Mary's Catholic Church, Roseville, rural Marble Rock, with Monsignor

Walter Brunkan officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.



Visitation will be held from noon to 9 p.m.  today at the Fullerton

Hage Funeral Home, 401 Blunt St., Charles City, with a 3 p.m.

rosary and a 7 p.m. Scriptural wake service.



Thelma Willert was born Nov. 16, 1921, in Marble Rock.



Survivors include her husband, Ralph, of rural Rockford; two

sons, David Willert and Dennis Willert, all of rural Rockford;

and six grandchildren.



She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother.

will in the Meservey Cemetery.

Grace Anna Trager was born Aug. 6, 1911, in Avery Township.



She is survived by her son, Dennis Trager of Vista, Calif.;

two sisters, Erma Smit and Bessie Kaduce, both of Belmond; eight

grandchidren; and three great-grandchildren.



She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son,

one daughter and two grandchildren.

18, 1996) at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit.

Sievers Funeral Home, 307 S. 12th St., Fort Dodge, with the Rev. Ron

Kitterman, chaplain of the Friendship Haven Nursing Home, officiating.

Interment will be in the Graceland Cemetery, Fort Dodge.



Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Major Erickson

Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave., Mason City, and from

5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Laufersweiler-Severs Funeral Home,

Fort Dodge.

Donna R. Volkmer was born Aug. 4, 1940, in Calhoun County, the

daughter of Burton and Rachael (Hanes) Ressler.



Donna attended school in Somers until moving to Fort Dodge where

she attended Fort Dodge High School.



Donna married Gene Volkmer on July 9, 1966, in Fort Dodge.



She worked as a cook at Arey School before moving to Sioux City,

and later had her own cleaning business both in Sioux City and

Mason City.



She played softball and was a little league coach for the youth

baseball teams in Sioux City.



She is survived by her husband, Gene Volkmer of Mason City;

one daughter, Debra Russ of Mason City; two sons, Ken Bockoven

and his wife, Connie, of Mason City, and Steven Volkmer and his

wife, Heather, of Mason City; one stepdaughter, Bobbi Schaffer

and her husband, Brent, of Loveland, Colo.; two sisters, Evelyn

Seil of Lorimor, and Mary Skoland and her husband, Marvin, of

Fort Dodge; one brother, Lyle Ressler and his wife, Bonnie, of

Fort Dodge; two grandchildren, William and Benjamin Hollander

of Bartlesville, Okla.; five stepgrandchildren, Brittnay Roberts

and Tory Schaffer, of Loveland, Colo., Sherry, Mike and Matt

Prehn of Mason City; and several nieces and nephews.



She was preceded in death by her parents and four sisters, Betty

Ressler, Vera Boland, Ida Coon and Helen Wagner.

Esther Bohi, 90, formerly of Riceville, died Monday (Jan. 22,

1996) at her daughter's home in Winter Springs, Fla.



Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m.  Monday, June 24, at

the First United Congretional Church of Christ, Riceville, with

the Rev. Dan Duggan officiating. Inurnment will be held in the

Riverside Cemetery, Riceville.



Esther Michener Bohi was born March 5, 1906, in Cherry Grove,

Minn.



Survivors include four sons, John of Brooklyn, N.Y.; Bruce of

Apple Valley, Calif.; Dan of Omaha, Neb., and Charles of White

River Junction, Vt.; one daughter, Virginia of Winter Springs,

Fla.; a sister, Verna Svaldi of Manchester; a brother, Lyle Michener

of Avon Park, Fla.; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
