Marcia K. Frank, 44, of 2306 20th St. S.W., died Tuesday (Jan.

30, 1996) at her home of Huntington's chorea disease.



Funeral services will be held in 10:30 a.m. Friday at Fullerton

Patterson James Funeral Chapel, 123 Second St. S.E.  Officiating

will be the Rev. John ``Jack'' Gannett of Trinity Lutheran Church.

Interment will be at Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery.



Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral chapel

as well as prior to service time Friday.



Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to make donations

to the Marcia Frank Memorial Fund.



Marcia was born on May 3, 1951, in Mason City, the daughter

of Charles and Dorothy (Springer) Stark.  She attended school

in Mason City.  She was married to Thomas White.  Later she was

united in marriage to Ed Frank on June 2, 1975, at Albert Lea,

Minn.



She is a former member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Ladies of

the Moose and the Tri Square CB Club.  She enjoyed spending time

with her family and friends.



Marcia is survived by her husband, Ed, Mason City; her parents,

Charles and Dorothy Stark, Mason City; four daughters, Mrs. Keith

(Tina) Factor, Charles City; Jennifer Frank, and twin daughters,

Lisa and Tammy Frank, all of Mason City; two sons, Robert White

and Thomas White Jr., both of Charles City; three sisters, Mrs.

Jim (Susan) Kingston, Mason City; Mrs. Roland (Martha) Straube,

Mason City, and Mrs. Dave (Diane) Meyers, Britt; one brother,

Mike Stark, Mason City; and three grandchildren, Alex Krueger,

and Miranda and Zachery Factor.

Dale Allen (Ackerman) Yost, 77, of rural St. Ansgar, died Monday

(Jan. 29, 1996) at Mitchell County Regional Health Center, Osage.



Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Lyle

Legion Hall, Lyle, Minn.



There will be no visitation. Schroeder and Sites Funeral Home,

St. Ansgar, is in charge of arrangements.



Dale Allen (Ackerman) Yost was born March 11, 1918, in Butler

County.



Survivors include his wife, Lorna, of St. Ansgar; one daughter,

Mary Lavanderos of Northwood; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren;

two sisters, Margery Force of Seattle, Wash., and Jeanette Gawiller

of Charles City; and one brother, Harvey Ackerman of St. Ansgar.



He was preceded in death by his parents and stepfather.

Harold W. Huisman, 58, of rural Osage, died Tuesday (Jan. 30,

1996) at Mitchell County Regional Health Center.



Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Little

Cedar United Methodist Church, Little Cedar, with the Rev. John

Gilbert and the Rev. Ted Stowers officiating.  Burial will be

in Little Cedar Cemetery.



Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Champion

Funeral Home, Osage.



Harold W. Huisman was born April 23, 1937, at Hampton.



Survivors include his wife, Karolyn Huisman of rural Osage;

one daughter, Deborah Foster, Riceville; seven sons, Michael

and John Huisman, both of Osage; Paul Huisman, St. Ansgar; Jeremy

Hovde, Justin Huisman, Jason Huisman and Jordan Huisman, all

at home; two brothers, Richard L. Huisman, Sheffield, and Kenneth

R. Huisman, Dougherty; and four grandchildren.



He was preceded in death by his parents, two infant sons and

an infant granddaughter.

CHARLES CITY



Ruby (Mrs. Ivan) Felix, 88, a former resident of 100 Seventh

Ave., Charles City, died Tuesday (Jan. 30, 1996) at the Nora

Springs Care Center.



Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the St.

John Evangelical Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Dennis Niezwaag,

senior pastor, and the Rev. Karen Behling, associate pastor,

officiating. Burial will be in Sunnyside Memory Gardens.



Visitation will be held from noon to 9 p.m. today at the Hauser

Funeral Home, 1205 S. Main St., and one hour prior to services

at the church on Friday.



Ruby Ann Jensen Felix was born Dec. 25, 1907, in Floyd County.



Survivors include her daughter, Karen Schultz of the Cayman

Islands; one sister, Marjorie Schulte of Mason City; and one

grandson, Donovan Schultz of Seattle, Wash.



She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one brother

and two sisters.

Albert C. Smith, 83, of Cedar Falls, died Sunday (Jan. 28, 1996)

at his home after an extended illness.



Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the First

United Methodist Church, Cedar Falls. Interment following cremation

will be in Kendallville Cemetery, Cresco.



Visitation will be held from 1 to 7 p.m. today at Richardson

Funeral Home, Cedar Falls, with the family present from 4 to

6 p.m.



Memorials may be directed to the church or Cedar Valley Hospice.



Albert was born June 11, 1912, in Cresco, the son of Everett

and Cora (Culbert) Smith.



He was united in marriage to Helen A. Curtis on Feb. 29, 1936,

in Cresco.



Albert farmed in the Ridgeway area from 1936 to 1956 when the

family moved to Cedar Falls, where Albert was a Realtor for two

years.



He then was with Waterloo Industries until his retirement in

1977.



Albert was a member and a very active volunteer at the First

United Methodist Church in Cedar Falls.



Albert is survived by his wife, Helen, of Cedar Falls; three

daughters, Joyce C. Hoppe of Mason City; Jean Childers of Pembroke,

Mass., and June C. Bennett of Cedar Falls; seven grandchildren;

seven great-grandchildren; and a sister, Clara Grant, of Dallas,

Texas.

William K. ``Bill'' McElroy, 64, of 425 22nd St. S.W., died

unexpectedly on Monday (Jan. 29, 1996) at his residence of heart

complications.



Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. today in the Wayside

Chapel of the First United Methodist Church, 119 S. Georgia Ave.,

with the Rev. Sharon Betsworth, associate pastor, officiating.

Burial will be in the Riverside Cemetery, Rockford, with military

graveside honors conducted by the American Legion Walker-Graper

Post #338 of Rockford.



Visitation was held from 3 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Fullerton

Patterson James Funeral Home, 123 Second St. S.E., where the

family received friends from 5 to 7 p.m.  Visitation will continue

from 9 to 11 a.m. today at the funeral home, and one hour prior

to services at the church.



William Keith ``Bill'' McElroy was born March 6, 1931, in rural

Rockford, the son of Louis ``Pete'' and Rose (Kiefer) McElroy.

He attended school in Rockford and graduated from Rockford High

School in 1948.



He worked briefly as a farmhand before entering the United

States Air Force in 1950.  He served as an Airman First Class

on the Air Force Base in San Marcos, Texas, where he was an instructor

on helicopter maintenance.  He was honorably discharged in 1954,

receiving the Good Conduct Medal and National Defense Service

Medal.



He returned to Mason City and took a position with Oliver/White

Farm Tractor in Charles City.  He then went to work for Lehigh

Portland Cement Company in Mason City.  For 22 years Mr. McElroy

was a clerk with the United States Postal Service in Mason City.

He retired in 1989.



On Nov. 29, 1959, in Hampton, he was united in marriage to Ruth

Delores Merrill.  Mrs. McElroy died Feb. 22, 1982, in Iowa City.



He then married Lana Rae Halsne on Sept. 27, 1985, in the

Wayside Chapel of First United Methodist Church, Mason City.



He was a member of the United Postal Workers Union l #306.



In his spare time, he enjoyed gardening and raising flowers,

particularly roses.  He was a meticulous caretaker of his lawn.

He was an avid fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes, the Minnesota Vikings

and Twins, and the Chicago Bulls.



Living family members include his wife, Lana, of Mason City;

their daughter, Leslie, at home in Mason City; his children,

Alan Davis and his wife, Vicki; daughter Debra and her husband,

James Powell, and daughter Lori and her husband, Scott DeVary,

all of Mason City; two brothers and their wives, Robert and Kathryn

McElroy of Charles City, and Charles and Mildred McElroy of Rockford;

two sisters, Berniece Parker of Rockford, and Mary Ott and her

husband, Richard, of Greene; eight grandchildren; and three great-

grandchildren.



He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, one sister,

Bernadine Nash, and an infant son, William McElroy Jr.

Mayme S. Klipping, 82, of Rake, died Tuesday (Jan. 30, 1996)

at North Iowa Mercy Health Center East.



Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Zion

Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Jennifer Edinger officiating.

Burial will be in West Cemetery.



Visitation will be held from 4:30 to 8 p.m. Friday at Winter

Funeral Home and one hour prior to service time Friday at the

church.



Mayme S. Klipping, daughter of Chris and Mary (Thompson) Legried,

was born May 25, 1913, at Rake. She graduated from Rake High

School.  Mayme was united in marriage to Paul Klipping on Nov.

3, 1933, at Rake.  They lived in the Forest City area and moved

to Rake where they resided these past years.



She was a longtime member of Zion Lutheran Church and was active

with Ladies Aid and circle.  She enjoyed baking, quilting, playing

cards and generously serving her guests.  Her life was centered

around her children and grandchildren.



She will be sadly missed by her three daughters, Ardyth Bredeson

and her husband, Terry, of Forest City; Mary Hove and her husband,

Karl, of Rake, and Ruth Smith and her husband, Dave, of Forest

City; her grandchildren, Scot Bredeson and his wife, Diane; Randy

Bredeson and his wife, Christy; Stephanie Van Gerpen and her

husband, Mike; Kenton Hove and his wife, Tami Jo; Paul and Jay

Smith; and one brother, Thrace Legried of Rake.



Mayme was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Paul,

on Dec. 15, 1992; two sisters; and four brothers.

Leon ``Lee'' William Maring, 72, of Remer, formerly of Clear

Lake, Iowa, died Tuesday (Jan. 30, 1996) at his son's home at

Clear Lake.



Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 2, 1996,

at Zion Lutheran Church, 112 N. Fourth St., Clear Lake, with

the Rev. Kermit Roisen officiating.  Burial will be in Memorial

Park Cemetery, Mason City, Iowa.  Military honors will be by

the Clear Lake VFW.



Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Ward-Van Slyke

Colonial Chapel, 101 N. Fourth St., Clear Lake.



The family suggests memorials be made to the Leon W. Maring

Memorial Fund.



Leon was born June 25, 1923, at Waterloo, Iowa, the son of Leon

G. and Lillian (Stolte) Maring.  He graduated from West High

School, Waterloo, in 1943.  He served in the U.S. Navy aboard

a tanker for three and one-half years.  After his discharge,

he was employed by Northwestern Bell Telephone.  He worked as

a cable splicer for the company from 1946 until his retirement

in 1978.



On June 14, 1947, he was united in marriage to Imelda M. O'Connell

at St. John's Church, Waterloo.



During his working years, Leon was active in Hawkeye Telephone

Pioneers, serving as past president of the Northeast Chapter.

He was also past president of the l Communication Workers of America,

Neighborhood Commission of Boy Scouts, and a volunteer instructor

for adult Red Cross swimming.



Upon his retirement in 1978, Leon moved to a lake home near

Remer,  where he resided until the time of his death.  During

retirement, he pursued hobbies in fishing, boating and woodworking.

He was a member of 772 Longville VFW Post, Longville, Minn.



He is survived by his wife, Imelda, of Remer; four children,

Barbara Karoli, of Edina, Minn., and her son, Timothy; William

L. Maring and his wife, Sharon, of Clear Lake, and their three

daughters, Carmen, Tanya and Laura; June McManus and her husband,

Jim, of Baton Rouge, La., and their two sons, Britton and Benjamin;

and John F. Maring and his wife, Torey, of Houston, Texas; and

two sisters, Marguerite Hinson of Phoenix, Ariz., and Arlene

Lormor and her husband, Don, of Albuquerque, N.M.



He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers,

Gordon, Gerald and Marvyl Maring.

Esther M. Drake was born April 11, 1903, in Lee Township, Franklin

County.



Survivors include four daughters, Margaret Briscoe, Fort Worth,

Texas; Leona Breeyaart, Estherville; Muriel Anderson, Bemidji,

Minn., and Elsie Smith, Buffalo Center; three sons, Howard Drake,

Marshall, Minn.; Kendall Drake, Algona, and Leslie Drake, Washington,

D.C.; one sister, Ruth Berryhill, Buffalo; 21 grandchildren,

23 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.



She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one son,

one sister and three brothers.

A. Burkle of Holy Family Catholic Church officiating. Burial

will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.



Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Major Erickson

Funeral Home and until time of services on Friday.



Anne Norton was born Jan. 27, 1914, the daughter of Antonio

and Marietta (Fusaro) Martin in Mason City.



Ann graduated from Mason City High School in 1932.



She worked part time as a secretary at Fred Hunchis' attorney's

office. Anne then worked as a secretary for the Ben Nelson Garage.



Anne married Richard H. Norton on July 24, 1942, in Mason City.



Anne went to work for the Mason City Motor Coach Company and

then became a partner in City Transit for a couple of years.



Anne then started her own ceramic shop ``Anne's Ceramic & Supplies''

that she has operated for several years.



She is survived by her husband, Richard H. Norton of Mason City;

one sister, Sister Marie JoAnn, at the St. Benedictine Convent

in Clyde, Mo.; one brother, William Martin of Chula Vista, Calif.;

and several nieces and nephews.

Lutheran Church with the Rev. Sara Akre officiating.  Burial

will be in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, Scarville.



Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Mittelstadt

Funeral Home, and will continue one hour prior to services at

the church on Saturday.



Ruth H. Hermanson was born Oct. 1, 1905, in Freeborn County,

Minn.



Survivors include two daughters, Shirley Van Kamen of Cedar

Falls, and Donna Watkins of Elkader; three sons, Ronald Hermanson

of Pullman, Wash.; Jerome Hermanson of Lake Mills, and John Hermanson

of Scarville; 17 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; two great-great-

grandchildren; and one sister, Vera Larson of Lake Mills.



She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two grandsons

and three brothers.

Church officiating.  Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery

with full military rites provided by the Mason City Memorial

Association.



Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Major Erickson Funeral

Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave., and will continue one hour prior

to service time at the church.



The family suggests memorials to Hospice of North Iowa in memory

of Bill Van Fleet.



Manford ``Bill'' Van Fleet was born Aug. 25, 1928, the son of

Ollie and Emma (Hovland) Van Fleet, in Mason City.  Bill attended

Mason City schools and then enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served

during World War II.  After the war he returned to Mason City

and married Dorothy Halvorson on April 13, 1950.  Bill worked

for Nehi Bottling Company, which later became Mid-Continent Bottlers,

for almost 40 years, retiring as manager in 1986.  Bill enjoyed

square dancing, camping, golfing, woodworking and his winter

trips to their home in Weslaco, Texas.  His greatest love was

his family and friends that he made everywhere he went.



He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, VFW and the Military

Order of the Cooties.



Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Van Fleet, of Mason City;

two daughters, Kris Blunt and her husband, Mike, and Donna Wernet

and her husband, Don, both of Mason City; four grandchildren,

Logan Werner, Shane Blunt and his wife, Cindy, Jason Blunt, and

Mindy Blunt, all of Mason City; one great-grandson, Jordan Blunt

of Mason City; one sister, Bonnie Simes and her husband, Don,

of Waterville, Minn.; one niece; and two nephews.



He was preceded in death by his parents.

Helen Stoner

Helen Stoner, 86, of Britt, died Wednesday (Jan. 31, 1996) at

Hancock County Memorial Hospital.



Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Congregational

United Church of Christ with the Rev. Harlan Stenberg as officiant.

Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.



Visitation will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the Cataldo

Funeral Chapel.



Helen Evonne Stoner, the only daughter of Rasmus Jensen and

Antonia (Madsen) Reinholdt, was born March 15, 1909, in the house

which was her present home in Britt.  After graduating from Britt

High School in 1926, she attended Iowa State Teachers College

in Cedar Falls with an emphasis in kindergarten education and

then took additional courses at Drake University in Des Moines

and Colorado University at Boulder, Colo.  She taught in Eddyville

for two years and in Marshalltown for 16 years.  While in Marshalltown

she was active in the Junior Business Women, YWCA and the community

theater.  In 1946, she returned to Britt to live with her widowed

mother and to teach in the Britt Community Schools.  While teaching

in Britt, she was on the committee to draw up a constitution

and by-laws for the Britt Education Association and was its first

president.  On Aug. 8, 1959, she was married to Dr. Lyle A. Stoner

in the Presbyterian Chapel at Bemidji, Minn.  They lived in Britt

where he practiced his medical profession.



Helen's interests aside from her teaching, included her home,

flower gardening and all kinds of needlework.  She knitted her

first sweater for the Red Cross during World War I, before her

ninth birthday.  She was interested in history, especially the

history of Britt, her grandparents having related it to her as

a child.  She was the granddaughter of the P.H. Madsens, who

came to Britt in 1876 with their family.  Helen had been to Denmark

twice to visit cousins and to work on the genealogy of her family.



She was a baptized member of the Congregational United Church

of Christ where as a teen-ager she played the piano for Sunday

school and sang in the choir.  Upon her return to Britt, she

was a member of the Unity Class and Women's Fellowship, of which

she was treasurer for several years.  In 1984, she was inducted

into the University of Northern Iowa Foundation's ``President's

Club and The Order of The Chimes,'' in recognition of the support

she had given her alma mater.



She is survived by her sister-in-law, Mrs. John (Arlene) Stoner;

a niece; three nephews and their children; and numerous cousins

(Reinholdt and Madsen), both in this country and in Denmark.



She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Lyle A. Stoner,

June 8, 1976; her father, Rasmus J. Reinholdt, March 23, 1943;

and her mother, Antonia C. Reinholdt, June 19, 1963.

Bartley ``Bart'' W. Curran, 66, of 814 N. Hampshire Ave., died

Wednesday (Jan. 31, 1996) at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient

Unit.



Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Major Erickson

Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave., with the Rev. Kathy Graves,

chaplain from Hospice of North Iowa, officiating.



There is no visitation.  Major Erickson Funeral Home is in charge

of arrangements.



Bartley ``Bart'' W. Curran was born May 30, 1929, the son of

Bartley and Grace (Jones) Curran, in St. Paul, Minn.  Bart moved

to Rochester, Minn., as a young child.  He attended Rochester

schools until he moved with his family to Eyota, Minn., where

he graduated from high school in 1947.  Bart attended the Brown

Institute of the Air in Minneapolis, Minn.  Bart married Jean

Scherer on Sept. 2, 1950, in Eyota, Minn.  Bart's first job was

at WOBT in Rhinelander, Wis.  Bart then entered the U.S. Marines

and served in Hawaii and Japan during the Korean Conflict from

1952-1954.  Bart moved to Mason City in 1954 and started his

career with KGLO Television Station, which is now KIMT-TV.  Bart

assisted with announcing, news reporting, sports and weather.

Bart was the host of ``Bart's Clubhouse'' for 18 years.  He

later worked as production manager and operations manager until

his retirement in 1991.



He was a member of the VFW and was an avid sports fan.



Survivors include his wife, Jean Curran of Mason City; three

daughters, Becky Boyd and her husband, Mark, of Albert Lea, Minn.;

Betty Havener and her husband, Denny, of Grapevine, Texas, and

Bonny Carney and her husband, Chuck, of West Des Moines; one

son, Brad Curran and his wife, In Sun, of Washington, D.C.; 12

grandchildren, Kerry, Kevin and Kelsey Boyd, Trisha and Kami

Havener, Shannon, Ryan and Kaitlin Carney, and Sarah, Joshua,

Daniel and Luke Curran; two sisters, Patricia Deason and her

husband, Leo, of Sylmar, Calif., and Norene Lily of California;

five brothers, Rodney Curran and his wife, Donna, of Eyota, Minn.;

James Curran and his wife, Sue; Raymond Curran of Watertown,

N.Y.; Jerry Curran and his wife, Socora of Costa Mesa, Calif.,

and Kenneth Curran and his wife, Vicki, of Glendale, Calif.;

one sister-in-law, Alice Heaton of Rochester, Minn.; and several

nieces and nephews.



He was preceded in death by his parents.

Linda Grossman was born May 11, 1951, to William and Rose (Fishbeck)

Lucking in St. Paul, Minn. She graduated from high school in

St. Paul. Linda married James Grossman in St. Paul on March 30,

1974. They have lived in Brainerd for the past six years. Linda

enjoyed working with ceramics, painting and spending time with

her children.



Linda is survived by her husband, James, of 3160 Gould Gray

Road, Brainerd, Minn. 56401; a son, Jason, of Brainerd; a daughter,

Melissa, at home; two grandchildren, Tia and Abby; her parents

William and Rose Lucking, of Newport, Minn.; three sisters, Joann

Hulscher, Tacoma, Wash.; Kelly Anderson and Julie Sharratt, both

of Cottage Grove, Minn.; and two brothers, Bill Lucking, Inver

Grove Heights, Minn., and Steve Lucking, of Lino Lakes, Minn.

Edward Alfred Bohning, 91, of Belmond, passed away Wednesday

(Jan. 31, 1996) at North Iowa Mercy Health Center, Mason City.



Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the

United Methodist Church with the Rev. Laurence Garrett officiating.

Burial will be in the Belmond Cemetery.



Visitation will be held from 2 to 9 p.m. today at the Ewing

Funeral Home.



Edward was born on Sept. 2, 1904, west of Belmond, the son of

Simon and Carrie Steenblock Bohning.  He attended country schools

near Belmond.  Edward lived most of his life on a farm west of

Belmond.



On Feb. 11, 1934, he was united in marriage with Bernice Davenport

in Belmond.  The couple lived on a farm west of Belmond until

1964 when Edward retired and they moved into town.  Edward liked

to spend his time fishing, bowling, gardening and playing cards.

He was a member of the United Methodist Church.



Edward is survived by his wife, Bernice, of Belmond; three daughters,

Nyle Jenison and her husband, Bradley, of Fort Walton Beach,

Fla.; Karen Kusian and her husband, Donald, of Belmond, and Alta

Barkema and her husband, Randall, of Charles City; four granddaughters,

Nyla Shepherd and her husband, Richard, of Fort Walton Beach,

Fla.; Donita Anders and her husband, Roger, of Marshalltown;

Tami Kusian of West Des Moines, and Kim Draisey and her husband,

Perri, of Keota; four grandsons, Brad Jenison of Tallahassee,

Fla.; Kevin Jenison and his wife, Mary Ann, of Lake Worth, Fla.;

Todd Barkema and his wife, Renee, of Monticello, and Kevin Barkema

and his wife, Gayle, of Marshalltown; eight great-grandsons;

one great-granddaughter; and one sister, Pearl Aldinger of Waterloo.



He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Andrew,

Peter, Sam, Paul and David; and two sisters, Martha and Gail.

He was also preceded in death by Johnny Mikesh, who was raised

as a brother.

Howard Hatland, 93, of Estherville, died Thursday (Feb. 1,

Howard Hatland was born Oct. 10, 1902 in Story County, Iowa,

to Benjamin Hatland and Mary (Erickson) Hatland. Howard moved

to Emmet County in 1903 with his family.



Howard received his education in the Dolliver schools and attended

Estherville High School.



Howard was united in marriage to Maude Miller on Nov. 10, 1927

at Fairmont, Minn.



After his marriage, they farmed in Emmet County until 1971.

In 1972, the couple moved into Estherville.



Howard was a devoted custodian for Estherville Lutheran Church

for 25 years and also did custodial work for Dr. R.N. Lepird.



Howard became a resident of the Good Samaritan Center in Estherville

on Dec. 20, 1989. Maude died Jan. 14, 1991.



Howard was a member of the Estherville Lutheran Church. He had

been a member of the Emmet County Farm Bureau.



Survivors include a daughter, Mildred Maloney and her husband,

Mike of Estherville; one son, the Rev. Kenneth Hatland and his

wife, Joyce of Mason City; a daughter, Linda Hatland of San Antonio,

Texas; 15 grandchildren, Mary, Hallie, Becki, Karen, Pat, John,

Dick, Sharon, Stephen, Kevin,, Lynda, Michele, Marc, Christy,

and Amy; 29 great-grandchildren, Mike, Chad, Angie, Adam, Anna,

Chrisanne, Abby, Kelsey, Amanda, Katie, Kyle, Allison, Lee, Jake,

Amber, Molly, Kristina, Ashley, Tanner, Jeremi, Troy, Nicholas,

Brooke, Christopher, Jordan, Ty, Levi, McKinsey, and Kyler; one

great-great-grandson, Ethan; one sister, Caila Myklebust of Cape

Girardeau, Mo., and one sister, Helen Christensen of Estherville;

and many nieces and nephews.

Dolores Donnelly was born June 23, 1911 in Minnesota.



There is no immediate family. She is survived by a sister-in-law,

Mildred Donnelly of Buffalo Center; and several nieces, nephews,

and cousins.



She was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers.

Orville C. Paulson

Orville C. Paulson, 76, of 947 15th St. N.E., died Thursday

(Feb. 1, 1996) at North Iowa Mercy Health Center East.

be in Memorial Park Cemetery.



There will be no visitation. The body was cremated. Major Erickson

Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave. is in charge of arrangements.



Orville C. Paulson was born the son of George H. and Olga J.

(Olson) Paulson in Worth County, Iowa.



Orville attended country schools in Worth County. Orville then

enlisted in the United States Army and served during World War

II from Oct. 1, 1940 to Oct. 25, 1945. He served in the Phillipines

Islands and received a Presidential Unit Citation Badge.



After the war, Orville returned to Mason City where he worked

for the Chicago Northwestern Railroad as the head time keeper

for 35 years and retired in 1980.



He married Evette E. Cooteau-Krueger on Dec. 31, 1971 at the

Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa.



He was a life time member of the V.F.W. He was a member of the

National Association of the Sixth Infantry, the Railroad Veteran's

Organization, Transportation Communications International Union,

and the Transportation Car Department Union.



Survivors include his wife, Evette E. Paulson of Mason City;

one sister,  Margery Schmidthuber and her husband, Leo, of Lake

Mills; two nieces, Jane Noah and her husband, Steve of West Des

Moines, and Ann Spanjers and her husband, Matthew, of York, Neb.;

one nephew, Michael Schmidthuber of Ronan, Mont.; three great

nephews; and one great niece; and several cousins

at 4 p.m. Sunday, followed by a  7 p.m. scriptural wake service.

In honor of Mary's wishes, her casket will be closed.

of North Iowa in memory of Mary.



Mary R. Durkin was born Oct. 18, 1910 in Mason City, a daughter

of Daniel and Agnes (Donahue) Durkin.



She graduated from St. Joseph Catholic Schools and she later

attended Hamilton Business College, Mason City.



Mary was the office manager at Coca-Cola Bottling Company, Mason

City, for many years, retiring in 1978.



She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, and St. Cecelia's

Circle at church.  She was a former member of the Pilot Club,

Mason City.



Mary is survived by her sister, Lucille Durkin, Mason City;

two cousins, Loretta Julum, Mason City, and Jean Lawrence, White

Bear Lake, Minn.



She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Marcella

Durkin.

Manford ``Bill'' Van Fleet, 67, of 1011 N. Polk Ave., died Wednesday

Church with the Rev. John Gannett and the Rev. Herbert Shafer

officiating.  Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery with full

military rites provided by the Mason City Memorial Association.

charge of arrangements. Visitation will be one hour prior to

service time at the church.



The family suggests memorials to Hospice of North Iowa in memory

of Bill Van Fleet.



Manford ``Bill'' Van Fleet was born April 25, 1928, the son

of Ollie and Emma (Hoveland) Van Fleet, in Mason City.  Bill

attended Mason City schools and then enlisted in the U.S. Navy

and served during World War II.  After the war he returned to

Mason City and married Dorothy Halvorson on April 13, 1950.

Bill worked for Nehi Bottling Company, which later became Mid-Continent

Bottlers, for almost 40 years, retiring as manager in 1986.

Bill enjoyed square dancing, camping, golfing, woodworking and

his winter trips to their home in Weslaco, Texas.  His greatest

love was his family and friends that he made everywhere he went.



He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, V.F.W., and the

Military Order of the Cooties.



Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Van Fleet of Mason City;

two daughters, Kris Blunt and her husband, Mike, and Donna Wernet

and her husband, Don, both of Mason City; four grandchildren,

Logan Wernet, Shane Blunt and his wife, Cindy, Jason Blunt, and

Mindy Blunt, all of Mason City; one great-grandson, Jordan Blunt

of Mason City; one sister, Bonnie Simes and her husband, Don

of Waterville, Minn.; one niece; and two nephews.

Alma C. Hull was born Dec. 5, 1901, in Lakeview, a  daughter

of Carl and Lena (Ostercamp) Voss. She  attended school in Terril

and Dickens and then moved with her family to Greene and then

Rockford, attending and graduating from Rockford High School.



Alma married Francis M. Hull on April 12, 1920,  at the Methodist

Parsonage in Mason City.  Alma and her husband, Francis, operated

Hull's Grocery Store for 32 years, retiring in 1964.



She was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church, Eastern Star

and White Shrine, Past Matron's group, and Support Group for

the Blind.



Survivors include one daughter, Maxine Hoherz, and her husband,

George, of Traer; two grandsons, Peter Erlendson of Zimmerman,

Minn., and David Hoherz and his wife, Debra, of Topeka, Kansas;

and one great-granddaughter, Nicole Hoherz.



She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 1980;

one sister; and one son, who died  in infancy.

Elizabeth Frank was born Jan. 13, 1910, in Rothmel, Russia,

a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Peter Lichman.  She married Jacob

John Frank on Sept. 14, 1925, in Wells, Minn.



Elizabeth was employed by Jacob E. Decker and Sons until her

retirement in 1965.  She loved spending time with her family

and friends and also enjoyed gardening.  She was a member of

Holy Family Catholic Church and the St. Esther Circle.



Survivors include four sons, Richard Frank and his wife, Betty,

and Donald Frank and his wife, Mildred, all of St. Paul, Minn.,

Herbert W. Kisner, 78, of 301 N. Brown, formerly of Nora Springs,

died Friday (Feb. 2, 1996) at the LaPlata Nursing Home.



Funeral services are set for 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Nora Springs

Christian Church.  Interment will be in the Clear Lake Cemetery.



Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the Sheckler

Colonial Chapel, Nora Springs.



The family suggests memorials to the Herbert W. Kisner memorial

fund.



Herbert was born Aug. 20, 1917, in Princeton, Minn., a son of

David Warren and Ethel (Raffety) Kisner.  Herbert moved to Fertile

at the age of 4 where he received his education.  He was employed

by the Lehigh Portland Cement Company in Mason City as a mechanic.



He married Jean M. Stowell on Oct. 20, 1947.  In 1978, they

moved to the Elmer and LaPlata area.  He was a member of the

LaPlata V.F.W. and the Elmer Christian Church, and was a veteran

of World War II, having served in the the United States Army.



Herbert is survived by three sons, Neal Kisner and his wife,

Denise, of LaPlata, Mo., Patrick Kisner and his wife, Evelyn,

of Chula Vista, Calif., and Scott Kisner of LaPlata, Mo.; one

daughter, Marcia Kisner of Dubuque; one brother, George Kisner;

two sisters, Frances Magrabi of Wellman and Carol Higgins of

Estherville; and several nieces and nephews.



He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife on Feb. 14,

1990; and one infant son, David Kisner; and one brother, Charles.

prior to services at the church on Wednesday.

Helen Irene Ginder was born Dec. 29, 1921, at Clay Butte Township,

Dunn County, N.D., a daughter of Hubert and Ida (Motland) During.

She married Rufus W. Ginder on March 21, 1945, at Osage.



She attended Plymouth schools, graduating from Plymouth High

School. She attended junior college at Mason City, and later

attended Drake University on Saturdays and in the summer until

she earned enough credits to graduate.



Helen taught kindergarten through eighth grade in rural Mitchell

County from 194357. She then taught second grade at the former

McKinley Elementary School, Mason City, from 196075. From 1975

until retiring in 1983, Helen taught second grade at Washington

Elementary School, Mason City.



She was a member of Our Saviour's Lutheran Church, Mason City.



She is survived by her husband, Rufus Ginder of Mason City;

two sons, Del J. Ginder and Jerry Ginder and his wife, Cheryl,

all of Mason City; four grandchildren, Julie and her husband,

Troy Bales of Phoenix, Ariz., Jan and her husband, Scott Williams

of Des Moines, Brian and Kevin Ginder, both of Mason City; and

one greatgrandson, Jeffrey Bales of Phoenix, Ariz.



She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother and one

sister

John E. Baker, 66, of 827 15th St. S.E., went to be with the

Lord on Saturday (Feb. 3, 1996) at North Iowa Mercy Health Center

West.



Memorial services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Major-Erickson

Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave., with the Rev. Larry Squier

of First Christian Church, Clear Lake, officiating.  Interment

will be in the Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery Columbarium at a later

date.



There will be no visitation, the body was cremated.  Major-Erickson

Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.



The family suggests memorials to the John E. Baker Memorial

Fund.



John E. Baker was born April 28, 1929, the son of Peter Baker

and Tillie (Katuin) Baker Peterson, at Camp Douglas, Wis.  John

grew up on a farm near Crystal Lake and attended Crystal Lake

schools.  John then lived in California and ran a swimming pool

business for 30 years.  He returned to Mason City in 1985 and

was the owner and operator of Larry's Radiator, which later became

J & M Radiator.  John loved to hunt, ride motorcycles, and especially

his grandchildren.



Survivors include his wife, Mary Baker of Mason City; one daughter,

Diane Carew and her husband, Steven of Clive; two grandsons,

Russell and Brian Carew; one son from a previous marriage, Arnold

Baker and his son and daughter of Independence, Mo.; his mother,

Tillie Peterson of Crystal Lake; one brother, Alan Baker of Forest

City; one sister, Anne Larson of Buffalo Center; special mother-in-law,

Henrietta Pedelty of Mason City; several nieces and nephews.



He was preceded in death by his father, Peter; step-father,

Walter Peterson; one brother-in-law, Andrew Larson; and a grand-nephew,

Steven Newhouse.

Mary Ellen Nicholson of Bellemead, Texas, and Pennie Fries of

Las Vegas, Nev.; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Neta Durfey Rodgers, 86, of 222 S. Pierce Ave., died Saturday

(Feb. 3, 1996) at Americana Health Care Center.

Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave., with the Rev. Merlin

Ackerson of First United Methodist Church  officiating.



There will be no visitation. The body was cremated.



The family suggests memorials to the Neta Durfey Rodgers Memorial

Fund.



Neta Durfey Rodgers was born Feb. 22, 1909, the daughter of

Jay and Bessie (Hindel) Durfey, in Manchester.  Neta attended

and graduated from Manchester High School.  She married George

E. ``Andy'' Rodgers on Feb. 8, 1928, in Manchester.  In September

of 1928 they moved to Mason City, where Neta worked for J.C.

Penney for 15 years, and then Buttrey's as a salesperson, retiring

in 1969.  Neta's favorite past time was reading.



She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and ladies

circle, the Rebekah Lodge #106, where she served two terms as

Noble Grand.



Survivors include one daughter, Alecia Sibert of Mason City;

one son, Marlin Rodgers and his wife, Barbara of Eden Prairie,

Minn.; nine grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.



She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 1970;

one grandson; and one great-grandson.

Duane George Miller

GREENE 



Funeral services for Duane George Miller, 65, of 15265 110th

St., will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Calvary Baptist

Church with the Rev. Gary Novak officiating.  Burial will be

in the Rose Hill Cemetery where graveside military rites will

be conducted by Tack Barnett Post 268 American Legion of Greene.



Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. today at Reid's Funeral

Chapel where family will receive friends during that time.  There

will be a public scripture service at 7:30 p.m. in the chapel.



Duane George Miller was born May 4, 1930 in rural Bennezette

Township, Butler County, a son of George Washington and Wilma

Zoa (Grace) Miller and died Saturday (Feb. 3, 1996) at his home

in rural Greene of complications from cancer.



He received his education in the Greene Public Schools where

he graduated in 1947.  As a young man he farmed with his brother

Galen until being drafted into the United States Army during

the Korean Conflict.  He served with the 171 Field Artillery

where he was raised to the rank of Sergeant First Class.  He

received his Bronze Star Medal for bravery and heroic achievements.



Following his discharge he returned home and was united in marriage

to Marlan Rottink of Allison on Sept. 27, 1953 in Greene.  They

were the proud parents of four children, Doug, Diane, Nancy and

Stan.  Duane and Marian farmed on the same farm for 42 years.



In 1984 Duane professed Jesus Christ as his personal savior

and was baptized as an adult at the Calvary Baptist Church in

Greene where he became an active member and faithfully served

in many positions.  He was also a member of the Tack Barnett

Post 268 American Legion of Greene.



He will be remembered for his sincere love for his wife, children

and grandchildren, and his church family.  He enjoyed fishing,

hunting, visiting with family and friends, Winnebago trips, church

and sports activities, and playing games with all his family

members and friends.  He will be greatly missed by everyone.



Living family members include his loving wife, Marian of Greene;

two sons and their wives, Doug and Diane Mieller of Elma, and

Stan and Donna Miller of Ames; two daughters and their husbands,

Diane and Mark Bigler of Fort Madison, and Nancy and Kevin Flene

of Waverly; 12 grandchildren: Tony, Marty, Jeremy, Jesse and

Kelly Miller, all of Elma, Rachel and Rebekah Miller of Ames,

Julie and Brad Bigler of Fort Madison, Matthew, Lisa and Michelle

Fiene of Waverly; one brother, Galen and his wife, Loretta Miller

of Bristow; one sister, Burnelle and her husband, Duane Wylam

of Waverly; several nieces, nephews and cousins.



He was preceded in death by his parents.
