William R. Wainwright

CLEAR LAKE 



     William R. Wainwright, 60, of 306 N. 10th St., died Tuesday

(Sept. 12, 1995) at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason

City.



Memorial services will be held at 9 a.m. Friday at St. Patrick's

Catholic Church, Clear Lake, with Monsignor Joseph J. Slepicka

officiating. Inurnment will take place at a later date.



Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 N. Fourth St., is in charge

of arrangements.



William R. Wainwright was born Feb. 7, 1935, in Chicago, Ill.



Survivors include one son, Will Wainwright of Clear Lake; and

two sisters, Elizabeth Wainwright and Barbara W. Leach, both

of Naples, Fla.



He was preceded in death by his parents.

William H. `Bill' Fischer

MESERVEY  



     William ``Bill'' Fischer, 63, of 811 First St., died Tuesday

(Sept. 12, 1995) at his home.



Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday at Salem United

Methodist Church, Meservey, with the Rev. Jim Gochenouer officiating.

Burial will be in the Meservey Cemetery with military rites by

the Wm. Schmalle Post #171.



Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m.today at the Grarup Funeral

Home, Meservey.



William H. Fischer was born on March 13, 1932, in Cannonsburg,

Pa., the son of Herman Fischer and Elizabeth ``McCullough'' Fischer.



At the age of 4, he moved with his family to Meservey and graduated

from Meservey High School with the class of 1950.



Following school, he entered the United States Navy and served

his country in San Jose, Calif., and Japan.



Upon returning home, after his discharge, he was united in marriage

to Maxine Bunk on Dec. 21, 1955, at the Wright County Christian

Reformed Church near Kanawha.



They made their home in Meservey and he worked with his father

at the Fischer Implement Company.



In 1973, he began working for the Brakke Implement Company

of Mason City and experienced one year of employment with Followill

Implement Company of Belmond in his many years as a sales representative.



Bill enjoyed playing golf and cards with his friends, listening

to music and attending concerts. He was an active member of the

Salem United Methodist Church of Meservey, the Meservey City

Council, Meservey Volunteer Fire Department, and the Wm. Schmalle

American Legion Post #171.



He is survived by his wife, Maxine, of Meservey; one daughter,

Debra Fischer of Creston; two sons, Michael Fischer and his wife, 

Diane, of Maple Grove, Minn., and Timothy Fischer of Minneapolis, 

Minn.; one grandson, Geoffrey Fischer of Maple Grove, Minn.; one sister,

Anne Sell and her husband, Bruce of Ida Grove; and one brother,

Robert ``Chip'' Fischer and his wife, Delores, of Clear Lake.



He was preceded in death by his parents.

Elsie J. Woyen

Elsie J. Woyen (nee) Hahn

MASON CITY 



     Elsie J. Woyen, 95, a resident of the Good Shepherd Care Center,

formerly of Clear Lake, died Wednesday (Sept. 13, 1995) at North

Iowa Mercy Health Center East.

     

Funeral services will be held 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Zion Lutheran

Church, Clear Lake, with the Rev. Dean Hess officiating. Burial

will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.



Visitation will begin at 3 p.m. today at the Ward-Van Slyke

Colonial Chapel, 101 N. Fourth St., Clear Lake.



The family suggests memorials may be made to the Elsie J. Woyen

Memorial Fund.



Elsie was born June 24, 1900, in Havana, Ill., the daughter

of August Hahn and Johanna Tackenberg Hahn. She attended school

in North Dakota. 



She moved from the West Coast to Mason City in 1946.



She moved to Clear Lake in the 1960s. She lived in Clear Lake

until 1988, then she moved to Mason City.



She was united in marriage to Eddie Woyen in December of 1923

in Moorhead, Minn.



Her hobbies included raising flowers, tatting and crocheting.



She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Clear Lake.



She is survived by a daughter, VaLois Masters of Mason City;

a son-in-law, Floyd Fousek of Cedar Falls; four sisters, 

Katherine Pederson of Adams, Minn.; Erma Griffin of Minnewauken, N.D.;

Eleanor Donaldson of Oberon, N.D., and Mary Combs of Concord,

Calif.; four grandchildren, Valerie Salsbury of Freemont, Calif.;

Elzora Dalrymple of Woodbury, Minn., Melinda Gonyaw of Palm Bay,

Fla., and Mark Master of Rancho Cordova, Calif.; and seven 

great-grandchildren.



She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a daughter,

Naomi Fousek; three brothers, Lawrence Hahn, Harry Hahn and 

Norman Hahn; and a sister, Margaret Griffon.

Charles Raymond Schneider

HAMPTON 



     Charles Raymond Schneider, 53, died Wednesday (Sept. 13, 1995)

at his home.



Memorial services will be held at 5:30 p.m. today at St. Patrick's

Catholic Church with the Rev. Gerald Condon officiating.  Burial

will be at a later date in the Calvary Cemetery, Charles City.



There will be no visitation. Thee body was cremated.  Sietsema-Vogel

Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.



Charles Raymond Schneider was born May 3, 1942, in Charles City.



Survivors include two sons, Robert Schneider of Hampton and

Steven Schneider of Waterloo; and two grandchildren. 



He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.

Roger Laverne Schafer

DOUGHTERY  



     Funeral services for Roger L. Schafer, 65, of 1221 Floyd Line

St., rural Dougherty, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at

St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Greene with the Rev. Lance Kittleson

officiating.  Burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Greene.



Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today at Reid's

Funeral Chapel in Greene where the family will receive friends

from 6 to 9 p.m.  There will be a public scripture service at

7:30 p.m.  Visitation will continue on Saturday at the church

one hour before services.



Roger Laverne Schafer was born Aug. 6, 1930, in rural Dougherty,

Scott Township, Floyd County, a son of Charles J. Schafer and 

Goldie Uker Schafer, and died Wednesday (Sept. 13, 1995) at North

Iowa Mercy Health Center East, Mason City, of cancer.



He received his education in the rural Scott Township schools

and graduated from the Greene High School in 1947.  At the age

of 16 he started farming on the family farm due to his father's

failing health, where he continued for 48 years.  In 1967 he

became employed by McGee Electric in Greene for several years

before becoming a self-employed electrician.



On Oct. 12, 1952, he was united in marriage to Caroline C. Kielman

at the First Presbyterian Church in Greene.  To this union were

born six children.



Roger and Caroline enjoyed going camping with family and friends

and for the past two years spending winters in Texas.  He enjoyed

playing dominos and spending time with his grandchildren.  He

served on the Farmer's Cooperative Elevator Board in Greene and

was an assistant Cub Scout Leader and 4-H leader.



He was baptized on Oct. 5, 1930, and confirmed on April 2, 1944,

a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Greene, where he had

served on the church council.



Living family members include his loving wife of 42 years, Caroline

of Dougherty; three daughters, Lonita Daniels and Mark Daniels of 

Lakeville, Minn., Jan and Dan Osier of Charles City, and Sandi Miller 

and Tod Miller of Allison; three sons, Charles and Sheri Schafer of 

Thornton, Craig and Kathleen Schafer of New Market, Minn., and 

Kevin and Laura Schafer of Mason City; 13 grandchildren, 

Jeni and Jeff Daniels, Stacie and Darin Osier, Kelsie, Emily, 

Bethany, Kyle, Betsy, Logan, and Kaya Schafer, Michelle and Ethan Miller; 

one great-grandson, Dustin Osier; one sister, Elaine and her husband,

LeRoy Miller of Cherokee Village, Ark.; one brother, Robert Schafer and

his wife, Kay Schafer of Dougherty; one stepsister, Mary Elizabeth Ahrens 

of Rosemont, Minn.; and one stepbrother, Graydon Trible

of Oklahoma.  He is also survived by one aunt, Lodema Green of

Jacksonville, Fla., and several nieces and nephews.



He was preceded in death by his parents; stepfather, Harold Trible; 

and one brother, Merlyn Schafer.



Those wishing to plan an expression of sympathy may direct memorials

to the family.

Russel C. Hansen

HAMPTON 



     Russel C. Hansen, 75, of Hampton, died Wednesday (Sept. 13,

1995) at St. Mary's Hospital, Rochester, Minn.



Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. John's

Lutheran Church with the Rev. Joyce Guldager officiating.  Burial

will be in St. John's Cemetery.



Visitation will be held from 2 to 8 p.m. today at the Sietsema-Vogel

Funeral Home.



Russel C. Hansen was born Feb. 25, 1920, in rural Coulter.



Survivors include his wife, Irma Hansen of Hampton; one daughter,

Diane Seidelhuber of Seattle, Wash.; two sons, Dallas Hansen

of Hampton and Delos Hansen of Bettendorf; one sister, Norma Fisher 

of Independence; and nine grandchildren.



He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.

Arley J. Thompson

KENSETT 



     Arley James Thompson, 76, died Wednesday (Sept. 13, 1995) at

North Iowa Mercy Health Center East, Mason City.

     

Graveside inurnment services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday

at the Kensett Cemetery with the Rev. Selmer ``Sam'' Hernes officiating,

and with military graveside honors by Our Buddies VFW Memorial

Post #6779, Northwood.  Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m.

Saturday at Bethany Lutheran Church with the Rev. Selmer ``Sam''

Hernes officiating.



Visitation will be one hour prior to service time at the church

on Saturday.  According to his wishes his body was cremated.

 Conner Colonial Chapel, 99 11th St. S., Northwood, is in charge

of arrangements.



Arley James Thompson was born on Jan. 7, 1919 in Kensett, the son of 

Arthur Thompson and Julia Bjorgo Thompson.  He attended and received

his education in the Kensett School system, graduating from Kensett

High School in 1936.  During his high school years he was known

for his pitching ability in baseball for various teams in the

Worth County area.  After completing his formal education he

also attended the Fred Stein Welding School.  He was united in

marriage to Audrey Auestad on Jan. 18, 1941, in Mason City. 

After their marriage he was employed by the Jacob E. Decker Meat

Packing Company in Mason City.  On April 3, 1944, he was inducted

into the U.S. Navy serving overseas in the Pacific Theater in

the Navy's submarine division during World War II, and was discharged

as a Fireman 1st Class on Jan. 13, 1946.  After his honorable

discharge he moved with his family to Kensett and worked for

the Armour Meat Packing Company in Mason City as a pipe fitter,

foreman and supervisor for 42 years until his retirement in 1983.

He enjoyed hunting, taking care of his lawn, and was a handyman

for people in Kensett.



He was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Kensett, Our Buddies

VFW Memorial Post #6779, in Northwood, and the Mason City Elks

Club.  He was former member of the Kensett Volunteer Fire Department,

Kensett City Council, Kensett School Board, Bethany Lutheran

Church Council, and Scout Master for the Kensett Boy Scouts.



Survivors include his wife, Audrey Thompson of Kensett; one

son, Allan Thompson and his wife, Sandra of Kensett; three daughters,

Arla Mink of Woodland Hills, Calif., Anita Cross and her husband,

David of St. Louis, Mo., and Ann Low and her husband, Arlen of

Northwood; seven grandchildren, Jeff Thompson of Northwood, Sheila

Walker and her husband, Bob of Manly, Brandi Gudiswitz and Ryan

Cross, both of St. Louis, Mo., and Troy, Tori and Tom Low of

Northwood; three great-grandchildren, Paige and Jason Walker,

and Tyler Gudiswitz; as well as other relatives and friends.

Barbara Anita Katheryne Ingrebretson-Krupp

FOREST CITY  



     Barbara Anita Katheryne Ingrebretson-Krupp, 77, of Phoenix,

Ariz., died Friday (Aug. 11, 1995) at her home in Phoenix.



Barbara Anita Katheryne Ingebretson-Krupp was born April 4,

1918, in Dane County, Wis., to Luther Ingebretson and 

Bertha Nelson Ingebretson.



Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday (Sept.

16. 1995) at Oakland Cemetery, Forest City, with the Rev. Merlin

Ingebretson of Thornton officiating.



Petersen Lund Funeral Home assisted in arrangements.



Following the graveside services, there will be a time of fellowship

and lunch for family and friends at the Immanuel Lutheran Church

Fellowship Hall.



Survivors include two daughters, Nelsene Privette and 

Nancy Nizankiewicz, both of Phoenix, Ariz.; one son, Eric Krupp of

Las Vegas, Nev.; one sister, Lucille Rastad of Phoenix, Ariz.;

two brothers, Chester Ingebretson of Phoenix, Ariz., and 

Thomas Ingebretson of Elgin, Ill.; and five grandchildren.



She was preceded in death by her parents, Luther and Bertha

Nelson Ingebretson of Forest City; and two brothers, 

Andrew Ingebretson and Robert Ingebretson.

Clara Bennett

CHARLES CITY  

     Clara Bennett, 99, a former resident of Route 1, Charles City,

died Tuesday (Sept. 12, 1995) at the Salsbury Baptist Home.



Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Trinity

United Methodist Church, with the Rev. John Bissett officiating.

Burial will be in the Riverside Cemetery at a late date.



Visitation will be held from noon until 9 p.m. Friday and from

9 a.m. until 11 a.m. Saturday at the Hauser Funeral Home, 1205

S. Main St., Charles City, and one hour prior to services at

the church.



Clara Bennett was born Nov. 12, 1895, in Floyd County.



Survivors include two sons, Irwin Bennett of Minneapolis, Minn.,

and R. Jerry Bennett of Colorado Springs, Colo.; a daughter,

Irene A. Meyer of Waterloo; seven grandchildren; and four 

great-grandchildren.



She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one brother

and three sisters.



The family suggests memorials be directed to Comprehensive Systems.

Luverne R. `Jack' Smith

MASON CITY 



     Luverne R. ``Jack'' Smith, 83, of 1310 N. Adams Ave., died

Tuesday (Sept. 12, 1995) at North Iowa Mercy Health Center.

     

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at  Major

Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave., with the Rev.

Merlin Ackerson of First United Methodist Church officiating.

Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.



Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. today and until time

of services on Saturday at the funeral home.



Luverne R. ``Jack'' Smith was born June 23, 1912, on a farm

in Linden Township, rural Forest City, to Frank and Pearl (Volding)

Smith.  Luverne grew up in the Crystal Lake area.  He attended

rural country school and school also in Crystal Lake.  He came

to Mason City in 1942 and worked for Jacob E. Decker & Son, American

Crystal Sugar and also farmed for several years.  He retired

in 1978.  He married Mary H. Murl on Nov. 15, 1950, in Northwood.

 

He was a member of AARP.  He was very handy at making repairs

and enjoyed animals, fishing trips and was an avid bird watcher.

His greatest love was his grandchildren.



Survivors include his wife, Mary H. Smith, Mason City; three

daughters, Judy Klobassa and her husband, Ralph, of Mason City;

Sharlene Juhl and her husband, Joseph, of Nora Springs, and 

Linda M. Smith of Mason City; three sons, Michael L. Smith, 

LeRoy L. Smith and his wife, Janet, and Jerry L. Smith and his 

wife, Erma, all of Mason City; 13 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren;

and many nieces and nephews; five sisters, Mrs. Ella Curley of

Thompson; Mrs. Mildred Harley of Albany, Ore.; Mrs. 

Mabel (Thomas) McAndrews of Riverside, Calif.; Mrs. Evelyn Smith 

of Britt and Mrs. Arlene Westling of Albany, Ore.; and one brother, 

Milton Smith of Britt.



He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant daughter;

two brothers, Arlyn and Wilbur Smith; and one sister, Betty Madson.

Marguerite Stadtlander

MASON CITY  



     Marguerite Stadtlander, 77, died Wednesday (Sept. 13, 1995) at

the North Iowa Mercy Health Center in Mason City.



Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday ot the United

Methodist Church with the Rev. Laurence Garrett officiating.

Burial will be in the Belmond Cemetery.



Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. Sunday at Ewing Funeral Home,

Belmond and one hour prior to services at the church.



Marguerite Stadtlander was born July 5, 1918 at Portsmith, Ohio.



Survivors include three daughters, Twyla Rockow of Belmond and

Sheila Stadtlander of Maricopa, Calif., and Linnea Harris of

Goldfield; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.



She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one grandson,

two great-grandchildren, one brother, one half brother.

Lynn Melbourne Cheney

OSAGE 



     Lynn M. Cheney, 86, of Waterloo, formerly of Osage, died Thursday

(Sept. 14, 1995) at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo of a

heart attack. 



Memorial services will be held 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Champion

Funeral Home in Osage with the  Rev. Arno H. Melz and the Rev.

Clark Christian officiating.  There is no visitation.  Inurnment

will be at Stillwater Cemetery, rural Orchard, with graveside

military rites by  Osage VFW Post 7920. 



Lynn Cheney was born on the Cheney Homestead four miles east

of Orchard on Aug. 12, 1909.  His parents were George V. and

Lina May (Gage) Cheney.  Lynn graduated from Orchard High School

in 1927.  He married Evelyn Smith on March 11, 1939, at Waterloo.

 

He served with the U.S. Army during World War II in the European

Theater. Lynn was employed in the Osage area as a general maintenance

man until his retirement in 1993.  He was a life member of the

VFW. 



Lynn is survived by his wife, Evelyn Cheney, of Waterloo; one daughter

Lina Marie (Mrs. Gene) Taber of Waterloo; seven grandchildren.

14 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.



He was preceded in death by his parents.

Mary A. Conaway

BRITT 



     Mary A. Conaway, 52, died Wednesday (Sept. 13, 1995) at Hancock

County Memorial Hospital.



Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at First

Lutheran Church with the Rev. James A. Mattson officiating. 

Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.



Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the Ewing

Funeral Chapel, and will continue one hour prior to services

at the church.



Mary A. Conaway was born Oct. 9, 1942, in Forest City.



Survivors include her husband, Ted Conaway of Britt; one daughter,

Christie Conaway of Ankeny; one son, Mark Conaway of Britt; and

one sister, Irene Lande of Rochester, Minn.



She was preceded in death by her parents.

Hilda Kathryn Lund

MASON CITY  



     Hilda K. Lund, 92, of 302 Second St. N.E., died Thursday (Sept.

14, 1995) at Good Shepherd Nursing Home.

                               

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today at Major Erickson

Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave., with the Rev. Kenneth

Hatland of Trinity Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will be

in Salem Lutheran North Cemetery, Lake Mills.



Visitation will be from noon until time of services at the funeral

home.



In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the American Cancer

Society in her memory.



Hilda Kathryn Lund was born on April 22, 1903, in St. Paul,

Minn., the daughter of Halvor Lund and Mary Lund (nee) Lee.



She was raised and received her education in Lake Mills. She

graduated from Lake Mills High School, after which she taught

in the rural schools of Iowa and Minnesota. She then attended

the University of Northern Iowa and received a BA degree. She

taught five years in  Rockford schools, after which she came

to Mason City to teach. She taught 23 years at Harding and Madison

schools. 



In 1968, she retired from teaching.



Her special interests were painting and art.



She was a charter member of Alpha Delta Kappa Honorary International

Educational Sorority Iota Chapter, American Association of University

Women, the Retired Teachers Association, a life member of the

Iowa State Education Association; and a longtime member of the

Trinity Lutheran Church and a member of the Mason City Women's

Club.



She is survived by one brother, Leslie Lund of Chicago, Ill.;

one nephew, Dr. Richard Morris and his wife, Janice, of Duluth,

Minn.; two great-nieces and three great-nephews.

Alma C. Olson

ST. ANSGAR  



     Alma C. Olson, 91, of St. Ansgar, died Friday (Sept. 15, 1995)

at the Community Nursing Home in Clarksville.



Funeral service swill be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Schroeder

& Sites Funeral Home in St. Ansgar, with Robert Orr as officiant.



Burial will be in the First Lutheran Cemetery, St. Ansgar.



Alma Olson was born May 15, 1904 at St. Ansgar.



Survivors include one sister, Borg Everding, Mason City.



She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, and

three sisters.

Eugene Nicholson

Murray Eugene Nicholson

FLOYD  



     Eugene Nicholson, 63, a resident of 606 First Ave., died Saturday

(Sept. 16, 1995) at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Iowa

City.



Funeral services for Eugene Nicholson  will be held at 2 p.m.

Tuesday at the Grace United Methodist Church in Floyd.  The Rev.

Blair Rohde-Frank will officiate.  Burial will be in the Oakwood

Cemetery, Floyd.  Military honors will be conducted at the graveside

by the Charles City Ceremonial Unit and the Minnesota Korean

Veterans Association Chapter No. 1.



Friends may call at the Hauser Funeral Home from noon to 9 p.m.

Monday, from 9 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, and one hour prior to services

at the church.



Murray Eugene Nicholson was born June 2, 1932 in Cerro Gordo

County, the son of William Nicholson and Sarah Ann Adams Nicholson.  

He graduated from the Floyd High School in 1950.  Eugene served

in the  United states Army from 1952-1954 during the Korean War

achieving the rank of Sgt.



On Aug. 27, 1955, he was united in marriage to Margie Kelm at

the Grace United methodist Church in Floyd.  He was employed

at the White Farm Equipment Company for 28-1/2 years and retired

from the city of Floyd. 



He was associated with the Grace United Methodist Church, was

a Floyd volunteer fireman for 38 years, a lifetime member of

the V.F.W. Post 3914, serving on their honor squad, the National

Korean Veterans Association, Chapter No. 1 of the Minnesota Korean

Veterans Association, and the North Dakota Korean Veterans Association.

 

Eugene enjoyed the Korean Veterans Reunion with the highlight

being the trip in July of 1995 to Washington, D.C., for the dedication

of the Korean War Monument.



Survivors include his wife, Margie of Floyd; a son, Michael

and his wife, Carol, of Osage; three daughters, Laura and Luis

of Aurora, Colo., Mary and Mark of Imperial, Mo., and Teresa Nicholson 

of St. Louis, Mo.; three sisters, Betty Meyer of Charles

City, Marjorie and Melvin Heitmann of Nora Springs, and 

Norma and Wendell Wahl of New Hampton; four grandchildren, 

Jamie, Matthew and Christopher Nicholson and Alex Alvardo.



He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, 

Arthur and Dean Nicholson; and two sisters, Ruth Wedeking 

and Dorothy Bonwell.

Robert J. (Bob Sr.) Eilers

MASON CITY  



     Robert J. (Bob) Eilers, Sr., 45, of 216 Seventh St. N.E., died

Lutheran Church, 213 N. Pennsylvania Ave., with the Rev. John

W. Gannett officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood-St. Joseph

Cemetery.



Visitation will begin after 4 p.m. today at Hogan Bremer Colonial

Chapel, 126 Third St. N.E., and one hour prior to services at

the church on Monday.



Bob was born June 1, 1950 in Sioux City, the son of James Eilers and

Marion Elvidge Eilers.  He graduated from Mason City High School

in 1968 and attended Mason City Junior College.  Bob delivered

for Kabrick Distributing and Blue Ribbon, Incorporated for many

years.



He loved spending time with his sons. He enjoyed sprint car

races and was an avid Oakland Raiders fan.  Bob was a member

of the Moose Lodge.



Survivors include two sons, Robert Jr. Eilers, and Kevin Eilers,

both of Mason City; one sister, Marilyn Christensen, Austin,

Texas; a very special friend, Pam Beyer, Mason City; two nieces

and several aunts, uncles and cousins.



He was preceded in death by his parents.

     Erma ``Pat'' Burgess, 70, of 324 Second St. N.E., died Friday

(Sept. 15, 1995) at the Good Shepherd Nursing Home.



Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Major Erickson

Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave., with the Rev. Randy Nielsen,

chaplain of the Good Shepherd Nursing Home, officiating.  Burial

will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.



Visitation is from 9:30 a.m. Tuesday until time of services

at the funeral home.  Memorials may be given to the Erma ``Pat''

Burgess Memorial Fund.



Erma ``Pat'' Burgess was born Jan. 23, 1925 in Mason City.



Survivors include one son, Dennis Lance, Thornton; one grandson,

Telly Lance, Thornton; one granddaughter, Kami Lance, Bartlesville,

Okla.; one step-daughter, Paulette Jones, Abilene, Texas; five

sisters, Lorraine Pinneke, Mason City, Ivalee Lichman, Portage,

Wis., Joanne Shoup, Woodburn, Ore., Judy Williams, Mason City,

John H. Glaspey

MASON CITY  



     John H. Glaspey, 81, of 410 S. Louisiana Ave., died Thursday

(Sept. 14, 1995) at the IOOF Home.

     

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Monday at Hogan-Bremer

Colonial Chapel, 126 Third St. N.E., with the Rev. Donald L.

Simmonds of the First Presbyterian Church officiating. Burial

will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.



Visitation will begin at 4 p.m. Sunday and until time of services

Monday at the funeral chapel.



Memorials may be given to the First Presbyterian Church or Hospice

of North Iowa in memory of John.



John was born Nov. 12, 1914, at Lignite, N.D., a son of John Glaspey

and Anna Olson Glaspey.



He married Helen Martin in 1936 at the First Presbyterian Church,

Mason City.



He attended school at Lignite, N.D., where he graduated from

Lignite High School in 1935.



Following his schooling, he worked at Montgomery Ward. He served

in the United States Army during World War II, where he was in

special public relations and entertainment. Following his discharge,

he returned to Mason City, where he worked at James Refrigeration

and Ray E. Pauley Company. He later operated G & H Service.



He was an avid fisherman and especially enjoyed his grandchildren's

visits.



He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Mason City.



Survivors include his wife, Helen Glaspey of Mason City; one

son, John (Dr.) Glaspey and his wife, Mary Jo, of Milwaukee, Wis.;

one daughter, Penye Davis and her husband, Don, of Belvedere,

Ill.; a daughter-in-law, Nancy Huber and her husband, Lynn, of

Rockwell; 14 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two sisters,

Jesse Berg of Mason City and Mabel Snowbarger of Glendale, Calif.



He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Ric Glaspey, who was

killed in Vietnam in 1969; and one brother, Sam Glaspey.

     John P. Kramer, 73, of Dumont. died Friday (Sept. 15, 1995)

at North Iowa Mercy Health Center East, Mason City.

will be in Dumont Cemetery.

John P. Kramer was born Jan. 4, 1922, in rural Butler County.



Survivors include his wife, Ruth Kramer, of Dumont; two daughters,

Peggy Wedeking of Ankeny, and Karen Freese of Denver, Colo.;

one son Steven J. Kramer of Waterloo; two sisters, Rachel Early

of Cameron, Calif., and Arlene Troutman of Marshalltown; one

brother, Albert Kramer of Los Angeles,Calif.; and two grandchildren.



He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.

Helen B. Paquette Meyer

MASON CITY  



     Helen B. Paquette Meyer, 91, of 304 Third St. N.E., died Thursday

(Sept. 14, 1995) at Good Shepherd Nursing Home.

Church, 125 E. State St., with the Rev. Ron Stein officiating.

Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave., and one hour prior to

services at the church.



Helen B. Meyer was born Jan. 31, 1904, in LeRoy, Ill., the daughter

of Frank E. Schwartz and Nellie Safford Schwartz.



Helen married Alfonse "Curly" Paquette on June 1, 1937, in

Canton, S.D.



In 1943 Helen and Curly purchased a restaurant in Clear Lake

and they established ``Curlys.''



In 1951 they moved to Mason City where they established the

restaurant they operated for many years.



Curly died in 1967, then Helen married Clarence W. Meyer on

May 27, 1977, in Mason City. Mr. Meyer died in 1984.



Helen was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church, a member

of the Gildner Circle and the church circle.



Survivors include many nieces and nephews.



She was preceded in death by her first and second husbands and

seven brothers and sisters.

     Gladys V. Albertson, 87, of 704 Milton, died Saturday (Sept.

16, 1995) at the Osage Memorial Hospital.

Burial will be in Forest Home Cemetery, Leland.

Gladys V. Albertson was born Jan. 5, 1908 in Forest City.



Survivors include one daughter, Darlene Pinke, Dexier, Minn.;

two sons, Rodney Albertson of Lake Tahoe, Nev., Charles Albertson

of Leland; nine grandchildren; and 18 great grandchildren.



She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and one brother.

Evelyn "Eva" Gertrude Scrimger Regel was born Aug. 25, 1904

of Porterville, Calif. and Jack Scrimger of Chula Vista, Calif.



She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and four brothers.

Thomas Charles Calby was born Sept. 16, 1995, the infant son

of Laura Emerick and Thomas Calby, at Algona.



Survivors include his parents, Laura Emerick and Thomas Calby

of Algona; his grandparents, Monte and Patti Emerick of Algona,

and John and Delores Calby of Chino Hills, Calif.; great-grandparents,

Ray and Catherine Besch of Emmetsburg, and Mary Johnson of Norwalk,

Calif.; six uncles, Michael McCauley of Des Moines, Daniel McCauley, 

Mathew McCauley, and Mark McCauley, and John Calby and James Calby, 

all of Algona.
