OSAGE 

Krystal M. Mustain, 16, died Thursday (Aug. 31, 1995) in a
traffic accident near St. Ansgar.

Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Champion Funeral Home with the Rev. Dennis Hanson officiating.

There will be no visitation. The body was cremated.  Champion Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Krystal Malmin Mustain was born April 8, 1979, in Hayward, Calif.

Survivors include her parents, David and Rose Mustain of Osage; her grandparents, Ernhart and Alice Malmin of Osage, Galen and Glenna Fountain of Asheboro, N.C., and Howard and Irene Mustain of Castro Valley, Calif.; and one brother, Joseph of Osage.

She was preceded in death by her uncle and her godmother.

Marlys Sally Huisman
NORA SPRINGS 

Marlys S. Huisman, 74, died Wednesday (Aug. 30, 1995) at North Iowa Mercy Health Center, Mason City.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at St. John Lutheran Church in Wellsburg.  Burial will be in the Hazelgreen Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 3 to 9 p.m. today at the Doyen-Abels Funeral Home, Wellsburg.

Marlys Sally Huisman was born May 6, 1921 near Gruver, Iowa.

Survivors include one daughter, Peggy Huisman of Rockford; and one brother, Lawrence Bush of Corpus Christi, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her husband, one son, and two brothers.

Daryle L. Leeper
BURT 

     Daryle L. Leeper, 63, died Wednesday (Aug. 30, 1995) at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St.
Cecelia's Catholic Church with the Rev. Steve Broderson officiating.  Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery with military rites conducted by the Veterans of Foreign War post of Burt.

Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. today with a 3 p.m. guild rosary and a 7:30 p.m. scripture reading at Wilson Funeral Home.

Daryle L. Leeper was born Dec. 3, 1931, in Lone Rock.

Survivors include his wife, Darlene, of Burt; two daughters,
Pam Gifford of Algona and Colleen Gilbert of Lynchburg, Va.; six sons, Dan Leeper of Olympia, Wash., Leon Leeper of Reno, Nev., Lynn Leeper of Burt, and Joe Leeper, Pat Leeper and Daryle `Duke' Leeper, all of Algona; his mother, Eva Leeper of Titonka; one brother, Bill Leeper of Rochester, Wash.; one sister, Jean Salisbury of Faribault, Minn.; and nine grandchildren and two stepgrandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Merle Miller
FRANKLIN, Va. 

     Merle Miller was born in Lincoln Township, Pocahontas County, Iowa, to Walter William Miller and Ethel Mae Fraser.  He grew up on the farm in Iowa and Minnesota.  He served in the Navy in World War II.

  After the war he married and started a family in Iowa, but
soon relocated to Florida and Georgia where he pursued his work as a steeplejack.  He moved his family back to Iowa until his work took him to Virginia in 1958.  His family soon followed and it was in Fredericksburg, Va. that he would spend most of the next 27 years living, working and raising his family.

  Mr. Miller loved music and as a young man had played the accordion and harmonica.  He worked as a mechanic, welder, ironworker and as owner and captain of the charter boat Titonka based out of the Yeocomico Marina near Kinsale, Va.  Mr. Miller traveled extensively in the United States, both for work and for pleasure.  He was a friendly, outgoing individual who made friends where ever he went and enjoyed nothing so much as a good conversation with friends.

Mr. Miller, a resident of Franklin, Va., in recent years, had
been bedridden since suffering a massive stroke in April 1993.

 He was preceded in death by his former wife, Marie Albers Miller, and his older brother, Virgil Miller.  He is survived by his current wife, Margaret Johnson Miller; his sister, Mrs. Beulah Josse of Albert Lea, Minn.; his children, Milo E. Miller of Dale City, Va., Marvin Michael Miller of Alexandria, Va., and Mrs. Maxine A. Sullivan of Fredericksburg, Va.; and three grandchildren, James Michael Sullivan, Renee Estelle Sullivan and Rachel Marie
Sullivan.

A graveside funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at Stafford Memorial Park, Stafford County, Va., with the Rev. Melvin E. Winters officiating.

The family will receive friends at Wright Funeral Home, Franklin, Va., from 7 to  8:30 p.m. today and suggest memorials be made to a chapter of the Salvation Army.

Theophilus `Ted' Karabatsos
MASON CITY 

     Theophilus `Ted' Karabatsos, 72, of 407 20th Place S.W., died Wednesday (Aug. 30, 1995) at North Iowa Mercy Health Center.

A funeral Mass will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 302 Fifth St. S.E., with the Rev. Carl A. Ries officiating.  Cremation will follow services.

Visitation will begin at 4 p.m. today at Hogan Bremer Colonial Chapel, 126 Third St. N.E., with a scriptural prayer service beginning at 7 p.m.

Theophilus was born Jan. 27, 1923, in Fairbury, Neb., a son of Tom C. Karabatsos and Katherine Rumas Karabatsos.  He married Milada (Millie) Sloup on June 14, 1948, in Praque, Neb.

Ted grew up and graduated from high school in Fairbury, Neb. He then attended Hebron Junior College until enlisting in the Navy and serving in the South Pacific during World War II.  He and his family moved to Mason City in 1966 and he worked as a clothier until retiring.  After retirement, he drove for Marshall and Swift for many years.  Ted was an avid golfer.  He enjoyed many sports and was a Nebraska Cornhusker fan.  He loved visiting with family and friends.

He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Highland Park Golf Course and Linn Grove Country Club, Rockwell.

Survivors include his wife, Millie Karabatsos of Mason City; one daughter, Kay Gabriel and her husband, John, of Tarkio, Mo.; one son, Steve Karabatsos and his wife, Sandy, of Rockwell; six grandchildren, Michael and Tony Gabriel, both of Tarkio, Mo., and Tom, Heidi, Amy and Andy Karabatsos, all of Rockwell; two brothers, Ulysses Karabatsos of Biarretz, France, and George Karabatsos of Houston, Texas; one sister, Sophia Karabatsos of Houston, Texas; and four cousins, Dick, Spatz, Pete and Art.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Kimon; one sister, Effie; and cousins Teckla and Nick.

Rudolph V. Stritesky
MASON CITY 

     Rudolph V. Stritesky, 80, of 628 S. Carolina Ave., died Wednesday (Aug. 30, 1995) at his home.

A funeral Mass will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 302 Fifth St. S.E., with the Rev. John R. Kremer officiating.  Burial will be in Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. today at Hogan Bremmer Colonial Chapel, 126 Third St. N.E.

Rudolph was born Feb. 12, 1915, in Cedar Rapids, a son of Rose (nee) Brown and Guy V. Stritesky.

The family moved to Mason City in 1930.  Rudy worked for the Macket Furniture Service for 20 years.  He also was a self-employed painter.  He had many hobbies of which one was feeding animals. 

In the past years he had made his home with his aunt and uncle, and later with his cousin, Dixie Macket.

He is survived by several cousins and a special friend, Betty Clifford of Mason City.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Benjamin.

Kathryn Lucille `Kay' Davies
Kathryn Lucille 'Kay' Davies (nee) Karaus 
HAMPTON 
 
    Kathryn L. `Kay' Davies, 73, of 12 Seventh St. N.E., died Wednesday at North Iowa Mercy Health Center East, Mason City.

A funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Patrick Catholic Church with the Rev. Gerald Condon officiating.  Burial will be in Hampton Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Sietsema-Vogel Funeral Home with a scriptural prayer service at 7 p.m.

Kathryn Lucille Karaus was born April 25, 1922, in Owatonna, Minn., a daughter of Frank Karaus and Mary Karaus (nee) Grabarkiewicz.  She married Robert L. Davies on Sept. 11, 1941, in Owatonna.

They moved to Hampton in 1946 to establish Davies Manufacturing Company.  At the time of her death, Kay was serving as the president and chairman of the board of the company.

She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, Franklin General Hospital Auxiliary, the Child Guidance Club and the Hampton Country Club.

Survivors include three sons, Robert and Jim Davies of Hampton and John of Safety Harbor, Fla.; and one daughter, Mary Menning of Hampton; two nieces, Joanne Clobes and Sandra Anderson of Minneapolis, Minn.; one nephew, Richard Davies of Albert Lea, Minn.; and six
grandchildren, Amy and Jenny Davies, Zachary and Aaron Davies and Melissa and Nicholas Menning.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Mary Karaus; her husband, Bob, in 1986; and one sister, Dorothy Anderson.

    Alice A. Pannkuk, 91, died Wednesday (Aug. 30, 1995) at Titonka Care Center.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Ramsey Reformed Church with the Rev. Dennis Redeker officiating.  Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. today at Garry Roberts Murphy Schaaf Funeral Home.

Alice A. Pannkuk was born Nov. 5, 1903, near Titonka.

Survivors include two brothers, John Pannkuk of Titonka and Raymond Pannkuk of Lompoc, Calif.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters and one brother.

    Corissa Rene Carlock, 15, died Thursday (Aug. 31, 1995) as a result of a traffic accident near St. Ansgar.

Funeral arrangements are pending at Restland Funeral Home, Dallas, Texas.  Champion Funeral Home, Osage, is in charge of arrangements.

Fannie Abel
VENTURA 

     Fannie Abel, 98, died Wednesday (Aug. 30, 1995) at the I.O.O.F. Home, Mason City.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave., Mason City, with the Rev. David Anderson of St. James Lutheran Church, Mason City, and the Rev. David Gobeli of Ventura United Methodist Church, Ventura, officiating.  Burial will be in Concord Cemetery, Garner.

Visitation will be held from 3 to 8 p.m. today at Major Erickson Funeral Home, and will continue from noon on Saturday until time of the service.

The family suggests memorials to the Fannie Abel Memorial Fund.

Fannie Abel was born May 7, 1897, in Ventura, a daughter of Amos Hyde and Betsy Hyde (nee) Thronson.  Fannie attended country school near Ventura.  She married Arthur Abel on Feb. 8, 1922, in Ventura. They farmed for many years in the Ventura and Garner areas.

She was a member of the Ventura United Methodist Church, Dorcas Ladie's Circle, Union Dozen Club, Thought & Thimble Club, Ventura Women's Club and was an active member of the Senior Citizen's Center in Ventura.

Survivors include one son, Ronald Abel and his wife, Dixie, of Overland Park, Kan.; one daughter, Lorraine Reynolds of Mason City; eight grandchildren, Steven Abel, Edward Abel, Jeanne FitzGerald, Joan Moore, Allan Reynolds, Ann Hussong, Kay Legler and Dawn Moore; 16 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Helen O. Smith

    Helen O. Smith, 72, of 1013 S. Eighth St., died Thursday (Aug. 31, 1995) at the Oakwood Care Center.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Open Bible Church, with the Rev. Will Hunsacker officiating. Interment will be in the Clear Lake Cemetery.

Visitation will begin 3 p.m. Monday at the Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 N. Fourth St.

The family suggests memorials to the Helen O. Smith memorial fund.

Helen was born June 1, 1923 in Clinton, Minn., the daughter of Howard Goldsmith and Christine Goldsmith (nee) Berg.  She attended school in Clinton, Minn.

Helen and her family moved to Clear Lake in 1956. 

Helen married Ronald B. Smith on April 22, 1961, in Clear Lake.

Helen attended the Open Bible Church, Clear Lake.

Helen is survived by three children, Judith Waters of West Des Moines; Jacquline Dybdahl and her husband, Gary, of Clinton, Minn.; and Larry Otten and his wife, Grace, of Cresco; 12 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two brothers, Harold Goldsmith of Ortonville, Minn., and Vernon Goldsmith and his wife, Gertie, of Big Stone City, S.D.; two sisters, Erma Alberts of Clinton, Minn., and
Alice Goldsmith of Ortonville, Minn.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ronald Smith, in 1994; and two brothers.

Samuel Reis
SARATOGA 
     Samuel Reis, 78, of Saratoga, died Thursday (Aug. 31, 1995) at home.  Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Monday at St. Paul's Maple Leaf Lutheran Church, rural Saratoga, with the Rev. Barbara Wills officiating. Burial will be in the Saratoga Cemetery, with military rites by the American Legion Post #545 of Lime Springs.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Lindstrom
Funeral Home, Riceville, with a 7:30 p.m. prayer service.

Samuel Reis was born Aug. 17, 1917, in rural Kendalville, in Fillmore County, Minn.

Survivors include his wife, Mabel Reis of Saratoga; one son, David S. Reis of Decorah; one daughter, Carol Abraham; two grandsons; and one great-grandson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and three sisters.

Jason Willard Horgen

     Jason W. Horgen, 16, of rural St. Ansgar, died Thursday (Aug. 31, 1995) near St. Ansgar, as a result of an automobile accident.

Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Tuesday at the Champion Funeral Home, Osage, with the Rev. Roy Ott officiating. Burial will be in the Osage Cemetery.

Visitation will begin 2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home and until time of service on Tuesday.

Jason Willard Horgen was born Sept. 15, 1978, in Corpus Christi, Texas.

Survivors include his parents, Lowell and Sandra Horgen of St. Ansgar; his paternal grandmother, Mary Belle Horgen of Osage; one sister, Lorri Wagner of Burnsville, Minn.; and two brothers, Larry Hall of Richmond, Va., and Lonny Hall of West St. Paul, Minn.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents and his paternal grandfather.

     Eileen Woodcock, 90, of Buffalo Center, died Thursday (Aug. 31, 1995) at North Iowa Mercy Health Center East, Mason City.

Mass of Christian burial will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Buffalo Center, with the Rev. Jerry Kapocek officiating. Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the Winter Funeral Home, with a 5:30 p.m. parish rosary. Visitation will also be one hour prior to services at the church.

Eileen Woodcock was born Aug. 17, 1905, in Buffalo Center.

Survivors include one niece, Bonnie Hamilton, Fairmont, Minn., and one nephew, John Woodcock of Glen Ellyn, Ill.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and two sisters.

Marjorie I. Simerson
BELMOND 

     Marjorie Ingrid Simerson, 86, passed away Thursday (Aug. 31, 1995) at North Iowa Mercy Health Center East, Mason City.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Trinity Lutheran Church with the Rev. James Carpenter officiating.  Burial will be in Belmond Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 2 to 9 p.m. today at Ewing Funeral Home.

Marjorie, the daughter of Henry Lien and Tena Toresdahl Lien, was born on Aug. 16, 1909 on the Lien farm outside of Kanawha.  She was baptized and confirmed at the St. Olaf Church.  She attended Olaf Country School and graduated from Kanawha High School in 1925.  Marj attended St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minn., the Iowa State Teacher's College, and MacPhail School of Music and Drama in Minneapolis.  She taught at a French settlement of Huguenots near Woolstock.

On Oct. 10, 1931 she was united in marriage with Harold C. Simerson in Peoria, Ill.  The couple moved into the Simerson homestead where Marjorie lived until 1980 when she moved into Belmond.

She had many interests and activities centered around her home, her church, and her community.  After being a farmer's wife, her life remained full with her love of art, hardanger, rosemaling, genealogy, traveling and music, including playing piano and being church organist since the age of nine.  Marj participated in the Friendship Tour `People to People' to Russia and China.  

She was an active member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, loving the yearly Kaffe Lags.  She was also a member of Century Club, rural Study Club, Belmond Area Arts Council, Phi Beta National Music Sorority, Valdres Samband, and the Sons of Norway.

Marjorie is survived by her daughters, Sandra Nelson of Des Moines, and Sara Murray and her husband, Bill of San Francisco, Calif.; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild, Sabina Trygstad and Christopher Trygstad and his wife, Becky and their son Dakota; her sister, Helen Hoover of Lakeside, Calif.; numerous nieces
and nephews and a host of friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harold in 1970; two brothers and two sisters.

Edwin A. `Pete' Schrandt
STACYVILLE 

     Edwin A. `Pete' Schrandt, 85, died Friday (Sept. 1, 1995) in Stacyville.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Visitation Church with the Rev. Paul Otting officiating.  Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be held at Hatten and Sons Funeral Home with a rosary at 3 p.m. today and scriptures at 8 p.m.

Edwin A. Schrandt was born June 25, 1910 in Festina.

Survivors include two sisters, Rose Klapperich of Meyer, and Alvina Theobald of Stacyville; four brothers, Lawrence Schrandt of Wheat Ridge, Colo., Robert Schrandt of White Rock, N.M., Mike Schrandt of Bancroft, and Wilfred (Fritz) Schrandt of Stacyville.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, and one brother.

Bernard W. `Pat' Trudeau
MASON CITY 

     Bernard W. `Pat' Trudeau, 84, of 426 15th St. N.W., died Thursday (Aug. 31, 1995) at Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit.

A funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 302 Fifth St. S.E., with the Rev. Carl A. Ries officiating.  Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery where full military honors will be conducted by the Mason City Veterans Memorial Association.

Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. Monday at Hogan Bremer Colonial Chapel, 126 Third St. N.E.

Bernard W. Trudeau was born April 13, 1911 in Postville, the son of Alex Trudo and Catherine (nee) Rush Trudo.  
He married Goldie Erickson on Feb. 26, 1931 in Mason City.

Pat grew up in the Postville and Mason City areas.  He enlisted in the Navy and served on the USS Candid during World War II. He then worked for Northwestern States Portland Cement until retiring in 1976.  He enjoyed all kinds of sports.

He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, the V.F.W., and the American Legion, and the Loyal Order of the Moose.

Survivors include one son, Douglas Trudeau and his wife, Cindy of Winona, Minn.; two daughters, LaDonna Gorman of Mason City, and Veronica (Bonnie) Bernemann of Clear Lake; 12 grandchildren, Michael, Scott and Kristine Trudeau, all of Minneapolis, Minn., Robert Trudeau of Galesville, Wis., Jennifer and Mark, both of Winona, Minn., Mark Gorman of Clear Lake, Debbie Velardi of Hollywood, Fla., Donna Lewis of Attascadero, Calif., Bonnie Bakkum of Boaz, Ken., Bradley Bernemann of Mt. Laurel, N.J., and Rebecca Bernemann of Clear Lake; nine great-grandchildren; two brothers, Leo (Red) Trudeau of Encino, Calif., and Clifford (Kip) Trudo of Mason City; one sister, Nina Pettey of Las Vegas, Nev.; three sisters-in-law, Ila Tanner of Mason City, Myrna Clark of Clear Lake, and  Rosalyn Trudeau of Mason City; and one brother-in-law, LaVerne (Pete) Baxter of Los Angeles, Calif.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Goldie, on July 23, 1984; one son, Bernard Trudeau; two brothers, William and Robert; and two sisters, Leone Rieneke and Marvyl Julson.

Walter `Bob' Myers
LUVERNE 

     Walter `Bob' Myers, 94, died Friday (Sept. 1, 1995) at Humboldt County Memorial Hospital, Humboldt.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Livermore, with the Rev. John M. Dreyer officiating. Burial will be in LuVerne Cemetery.  Visitation will be held at 3 p.m.  today at the Wilson Funeral Home, Livermore.

Survivors include one sister-in-law, Ruby Myers of LuVerne.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, and one sister.

Florence C. Sanberg
MASON CITY 

     Florence C. Sanberg, 83, of 108 Eighth St. S.W., died Sunday (Sept. 3, 1995) at Good Shepherd Health Care Center.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave., with the Rev. Robert Stone of First Congregational United Church of Christ officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery.  Visitation will  be held from 4 to 8 p.m. today and will continue Tuesday until  time of services.

The family requests memorials to the Florence C. Sanberg Memorial Fund.

Florence C. Sanberg was born on Oct. 31, 1912, a daughter of Isaac and Martina (Elm) Sanberg, in Mason City.  Florence attended and graduated from Mason City High School in 1930.  She then attended Hamilton Business College.  Florence worked for Northwest Savings Bank until it consolidated with the First National Bank.

She was the first woman officer at  First National Bank and worked as a loan officer until her retirement, due to arthritis.

She was a member of First Congregational United Church of Christ, Business and Professional Women, Wa Tan Ye Club and the  National Association of Bank Women.

Survivors include two sisters, Lillian Sanberg and Maxine Sanberg, both of Mason City, and several cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

     Bernice E. Muehlstedt, 86, of 918 North Federal Ave., died Friday (Sept. 1, 1995) at Allen Memorial Hospital, Waterloo.

A funeral Mass will be held at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at Holy Family Catholic Church, 714 N. Adams Ave., with the Rev. Raymond A. Burkle  and the Rev. Joseph Slepicka  of St. Patrick's Catholic Church,  Clear Lake, officiating . Burial will be in Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery.

Visitation will begin at 4 p.m. today at Hogan Bremer Colonial Chapel, 126 Third St. N.E., with a scriptural prayer service beginning   at 7 p.m.

Bernice Muehlstedt was born Dec. 18, 1908, in St. Paul, Minn., a daughter of Fred Staley and Rose (nee) Becker Staley.  She married Frank Muehlstedt on Nov. 6, 1924, in St. Paul.

Bernice grew up in St. Paul.  She and and her husband moved to Mason City in 1947 and owned and operated Mason City Tile and Marble for 25 years until retiring in 1964.

She was very active in Holy Family Church activities and the Senior Citizens Center. She enjoyed ceramics, playing cards, knitting and bowling. She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, St. Sarah's Circle and was Grand Regent of  Catholic Daughters of the Americas Court Joan of Arc No. 152.

Survivors include one son, Dennis Muehlstedt Sr. and his wife, Anne, Waterloo; and three grandchildren, Laura Gratias and her husband, Scott, Waukee, and Julie Muehlstedt and D.J. Muehlstedt, both of Waterloo.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

THORNTON 

     Julia Jacobsen, 80, of 301 N. Sixth St., died Saturday (Sept. 2, 1995) at home.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jim Goehenouer officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery, Thornton.

Visitation will be from 2:30 to 8 p.m. today at Grarup Funeral Home, Thornton.

Julia Jacobsen was born on June 4, 1915, in Belmond, a daughter of Bertus B. Frey and Lydia (nee) Bier Frey.  She graduated from the Meservey Consolidated School. She grew up in the Meservey area.

On June 4, 1938, she married P.K. Petersen. He passed away on July  9, 1952. On Nov. 14, 1958, she was united in marriage to Carl Jacobsen in Thornton where they made their home. She worked as a bookkeeper for the Woodford Wheeler Lumber Yard both in Thornton and Clear Lake for 31 years. She served the United Methodist Church of Thornton as a Sunday school teacher for 18 years and as a secretary of the Sunday school board. She served as town clerk for the city of Thornton and also held the offices of both president and secretary of the Thornton Ladies Auxiliary. In her spare time she enjoyed knitting and reading. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Thornton.

She is survived by her husband, Carl Jacobsen of Thornton, and one brother, Bert Frey of Belmond.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, parents, one sister and one brother.
