     Eleanor Woodley, 84, died Friday (Oct. 13, 1995) at the Clarion
Healthcare Center.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Clarion
Church of Christ with Mark Young officiating.  Burial will be
in Evergreen Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. Monday at the Willim
Funeral Home.

Eleanor Woodley was born July 8, 1911 in Clarion.

Survivors include her husband, Leo of Clarion; three daughters,
Sharon Magee of Ames, Susan Allen of Denver, Colo., and Nancy
Carter of Tucson, Ariz.; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, and two
sisters.

Helen R. Fox

     Helen R. Fox, 67, died Saturday (Oct. 14, 1995) at the Maple
Manor Nursing Home, Osage.

A funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Sacred
Heart Catholic Church, Osage, with the Rev. Dennis Cahill officiating.
 Burial will be in the Orchard Cemetery.

Visitation will be held at 2:30 p.m. Monday at the Champion
Funeral Home, Osage, with a rosary at 3 p.m. and a scripture
service at 7:30 p.m.

Helen R. Fox was born Jan. 30, 1928 in Lawler.

Survivors include her husband, Ralph (Jr.) Fox of Orchard; three
daughters, Norma Wightman of Cedar Falls, Sue Lapiere of Naples,
Fla., and Sheila Brustkern of Raymond; four sons, Michael Fox
of Spokane, Wash., Jerry Fox and Steve Fox, both of Manhatten,
Kan., and Ray Fox of Gilbertville; two brothers, William Kenny
of Osage, and Pat Kenny of Holbrook, Ariz.; 15 grandchildren;
and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and one sister.

NORTHWOOD 

     E. Ruth Wignes, 94, died Friday (Oct. 13, 1995) at the Lutheran
Retirement Home.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at the First
Lutheran Church with the Rev. Mark Bents and the Rev. Debi Hankins
officiating.  Burial will be in the Little Cedar Cemetery, Adams,
Minn.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the Schroeder
and Sites Funeral Home.

E. Ruth Wignes was born Nov. 1, 1900 in Alta Vista.

Survivors include four sons, James Wignes of Rochester, Minn.,
Russell Wignes of Albert Lea, Minn., Lyle Wignes of Forest City, and
Loren Wignes of Park Rapids, Minn.; one brother, George Cawelti of Des
Moines; 11 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two infant
children, 1 daughter, one son, two sisters, and two brothers.

Gladys Stowe
FOREST CITY 

     Gladys Stowe, 93, died Friday (Oct. 13, 1995) at her home.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Petersen
Lund Funeral Home with the Rev. Lee Laaveg of Immanuel Lutheran
Church, officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Spencer,
at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Visitation will be held from 8:30 a.m. to time of service on
Tuesday at the funeral home.

Gladys Stowe was born Aug. 30, 1902 in Marathon.

Survivors include two daughters, Marge Felland of Forest City,
and Joanne Hanson of Des Moines; four grandchildren; and six
great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers
and three sisters.

Richard F. Gauley
SHEFFIELD 

     Richard F. Gauley, 65, of 15181 170th St., died Saturday (Oct.
14, 1995) at his home.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the First
United Methodist Church with the Rev. Robert Beard officiating.
Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery.

Visitation will be held 2 to 8 p.m. today at the Grarup Funeral
Home.

Richard F. Gauley, the son of Frank Gauley and Emma Gauley (nee) Hill,
was born on Feb. 27, 1930 on his parent's farm in Geneseo Township,
Cerro Gordo County.  He attended the Geneseo #7 country school
and graduated from the Sheffield High School class of 1948. 
He entered the United States Navy in 1949 and returned home in
1951 when he began serving six years in the Naval Reserves out
of Waterloo.  He was united in marriage to Lois Moore in the
First Baptist Church of Sheffield on May 20, 1951.  They made
their home farming outside of Sheffield until 1994 when he retired
due to poor health.  Richard enjoyed reading and spending time
with his family. They were his pride and joy.

He was a member of the United Methodist Church of Sheffield.

He is survived by his wife, Lois of Sheffield; one son,
Michael Gauley of Nevada; five daughters, Debra Thomas, and her husband,
Phil, of Walker, Jane Anthony and her husband, Jim, of Clarks
Grove, Minn., Beverly Weipert of Waverly, Sherrie Gauley and
David Foster of New Brunswick, N.J., and Pamela Miller and her
husband, Russ, of Hampton; 10 grandchildren; seven sisters,
Hazel Rogers and her husband, LeRoy, of Iowa City, Della Schneider
of Sheffield, Mildred Seydel of Moline, Ill., Mary Lage of Davenport,
Katie Vega of Spearfish, S.D., Jo Fletchall and her husband,
Loren, of Webster City; two brothers, Lawrence Gauley of Mason
City, and Jim Gauley of Rockwell; one sister-in-law, Audrey Gauley
of Roland.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one
sister.

Glen V. Theis
MASON CITY 

     Glen V. Theis, 60, of 2219 22nd St. S.W., died Saturday (Oct.
14, 1995) at home.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Fullerton-
Patterson-James Funeral Chapel, 123 Second St. S.E., with the 
Rev. DuWayne Dalen of Our Saviour's Lutheran Church officiating.  
Interment will be in Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery.

The family will greet friends and neighbors from 4 to 8 p.m.
today at the funeral home.

Glen Virgil Theis was born May 25, 1935,  in Mason City to
George Theis and Hazel Theis (nee) Lee.  He was baptized at Trinity 
Lutheran Church and attended school in Mason City.  He was confirmed at Our
Saviour's Lutheran Church and graduated from Mason City High School in
1953.  Glen was employed by Cantex Industries (Mason City Brick
and Tile) for 27 years, and was also employed by McKinness Excavating.
 He had been employed at Curries Manufacturing the past 16 years.

Glen Virgil was a life member of the North American Fishing
Club, Wildlife Forever and the National Rifle Association.  He
was an avid fisherman who enjoyed tying lures and looked forward
to his annual fishing trip.  Glen was born on and lived on the
same block (22nd Street) his entire life.  He enjoyed spending
time with his family and friends.

Glen Virgil Theis is survived by his mother, Hazel Theis; sister,
Mrs. Ted VanLent (Rozena); and a brother, Carroll Arthur Theis
and his wife, Dyane, all of Mason City.  He is also survived
by nine nieces and nephews: Lisa Ebel and her husband, David,
of Mason City, Julie Caspers and her husband, Don, of Swaledale,
Vicki Schluter and her husband, Myron, of Overland Park, Kan.,
Mark VanLent and his wife, Annette, of Polk City, Dina Schuckman
and her husband, Rich,  of Hudson, Ill., Thor Theis of Mason
City, Christina Luse and her husband, Raymie, of Crystal Lake,
and Troy Seger and Chad Seger, both of Mason City.  Glen Virgil is
also survived by several grandnieces and grandnephews.

Glen Virgil Theis was preceded in death by his father, George,
in 1981.

Fred Harms
BUFFALO CENTER 

     Fred Harms, 86, died Saturday (Oct. 14, 1995) at the Muse-Norris
Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the First
Reformed Church with the Rev. William Peake officiating.  Burial
will be in Olena Mound Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the Winter
Funeral Home, and will continue one hour prior to services at
the church.

Fred Harms was born Jan. 31, 1909, in Buffalo Center.

Survivors include his wife, Lena Harms of Buffalo Center; one
daughter, Audrey Sonnenberg of Forest City; two sons, Forrest
Harms of West Des Moines and Wendell Harms of Des Moines; six
sisters, Grace Yahnke and Lillian Kopp, both of Buffalo Center,
Matilda Silber of Peoria, Ill., Marion Connelly of Mason City,
Florence Downey of Algona, and Ruth Lund of Mesa, Ariz.; two
brothers, Merle Harms of Long Beach, Calif. and Marvin Harms
of Talahasse, Fla.; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and two
brothers.

Ruth Minear
KEOSAUQUA 

     Ruth Minear, 92, of Osage, formerly of Keosauqua, died Friday
(Oct. 13, 1995) at Maple Manor Care Center, Osage.

Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. today at the Keosauqua
United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Samuel Subramanian officiating.

Burial will be in Forest Home Cemetery, Mount Pleasant.

Visitation was held from 7 to 8 p.m. Monday at Pedrick Funeral
Home, Keosauqua.

Memorials may be given to the Keosauqua United Methodist Church
in care of the Pedrick Funeral Home.

Ruth Minear was born July 1, 1903, in Cantril.

Gertie J. Evans
NORTHWOOD 

     Gertie J. Evans, 92, of 1503 Third Ave. S., Northwood, died
Sunday (Oct. 15, 1995) at the Lutheran Retirement Home.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday (Oct. 18, 1995)
at the Elk Creek Lutheran Church in Northwood, with the Rev.
Selmer G. Hernes officiating. Burial will be in the Elk Creek
Cemetery, rural Kensett.

Visitation will begin 3 p.m. today at Conner Colonial Chapel.

The family suggests memorials may be made to Gertie J. Evans
Memorial Fund.

Gertie was born on tbhe family farm on Nov. 21, 1902, southwest
of Kensett, in Worth County. Her parents were John Brosdal and
Everine Brosdal (nee) Pederson.

She attended school in Hanlontown, graduating in 1921.

While in high school, she was a member of the debate team. She
went on to attend the Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls.
She used her degree in teaching elementary school at Milford,
and later at Grant School in Mason City. She later left teaching
to return to the family farm.

On March 10, 1937, she was united in marriage to Glenis M. Evans
in the Miller Lutheran Parsonage, rural Garner. The couple continued
to live on the family farm near Kensett.

The couple moved to Fertile after her husband's retirement in
the late 1960s. After her husband's death in 1987, she lived
in Hanlontown prior to moving to Northwood. She moved to the
Lutheran Retirement Home in 1993.

Her hobbies included reading and being with people. She was
a charter member of the Elk Creek Lutheran Church, rural Kensett.

She is survived by her first cousins, Mildred Citurs and her
husband, Ray, of Mason City, and Clara Connors of South St. Paul,
Minn.; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 1987;
and a sister, Karina Brosdal.

W. David (Rev.) Jones
CHARLES CITY 

     The Rev. W. David Jones, 47, of 1304 Clark St., Charles City,
pastor of the First Christian Church of Charles City, and the
Nora Springs Christian Church, Nora Springs, died Friday (Oct.
13, 1995) at the Floyd County Memorial Hospital, Charles City,
of injuries suffered in an automobile/truck accident on U.S.
Highway 18 west of Floyd.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the First Congregational
United Church of Christ, 502 N. Jackson St., Charles City. The
Rev. Dr. Richard Guentert, Regional Minister for the Christian
Church Disciples of Christ, will officiate. He will be assisted
by the Charles City Ministerial Association, the Nora Springs
Ministerium and the North Iowa Christian Church Disciples of
Christ Cluster Group.

Additional funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at the
First Christian Church  in Bardstown, Ky. Interment will be in
the Bardstown Cemetery next to his father.

Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today at the Fullerton
Hage Funeral Home, 401 Blunt St., Charles City. Visitation will
continue one hour prior to services on Wednesday at the church.

The Rev. W. David Jones was born Sept. 27, 1948, in Lexington,
Ky., the son of the Rev. Woodrow Simpson and 
Helen LaJune Jones (nee) Walls.

He married Kathy Elizabeth Allen. They were later divorced.

On Feb. 25, 1994, he married Alarice M. Simpson at the First
Christian Church in Richmond, Mo.

The Rev. Jones graduated from high school in Jefferson, Ind.
He attended the University of Evansville, Ind., where he was
conferred with a Bachelor of Science Degree in History and Political
Science.

While in college, he became active in the ROTC. This lead to
a position in the United States Air Force. He was stationed as
a First Lieutenant  at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio,
Texas.

 Following his service in the United States Air Force, he enrolled
at San Antonio University, San Antonio, Texas, where he received
a Master's Degree in city planning. In 1983 he entered the seminary
at Phillips University, Enid, Okla. While at Phillips, he served
as a student pastor at Christian Churches Disciples of Christ
in Lahoma and Yale, Okla. He was conferred with a Master of Divinity
Degree by Phillips University and was working toward a Doctorate
of Divinity from Texas Christian University.

 Following seminary, his first full-time church was the First
Christian Church in Luther, Okla. He served the First Christian
Church of Waurika, Okla., and the First Christian Church of Lexington,
Mo.

In November of 1994, he moved to Charles City to become the
pastor of the First Christian Church, Charles City, and the Nora
Springs Christian Church, Nora Springs, a position he held at
the time of his death.

 He held dual membership in the Charles City and Nora Springs
churches. He was a member of the Charles City Ministerial Association
and the Nora Springs Ministerial Ministerum.

He was a past member of several Lions Clubs, the Jaycees, several
community development organizations and the S.E. Kansas Girl
Scout Council. While in seminary, he was active with the Habitat
for Humanity.

Living family members include his wife, Alarice of Charles City;
his mother, H. LaJune Jones of Bardstown, Ky.; a son,
Steven Phillip Allen Jones of Florissant, Colo.; a daughter,
Sharon Kathleen Jones, at the University of Missouri, Columbia; a 
stepson and his wife, Sean Raymond Spletstoser and 
Paula Spletstoser of Holt, Mo.; and a brother and his wife, the 
Rev. Ronald Jones and Karenree Jones of San Antonio, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his father, the Rev. Woodrow Simpson
Jones.

Donald Eugene Walsh
MASON CITY 

     Donald Eugene Walsh, 80, formerly of 1108 First St. N.E., died
Sunday (Oct. 15, 1995) at the Good Shepherd Care Center, Mason
City.

Graveside services will be held 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Memorial
Park Cemetery, Mason City, with the Rev. Randy Nielsen of the
Good Shepherd Care Center officiating.

The presentation of the United States flag  will be conducted
by the Mason City Memorial Association of the VFW.

The family will greet neighbors and friends from 4 to 8:30 p.m.
today at the Fullerton Patterson James Funeral Home, 123 Second
St. S.E.

Donald was born June 16, 1915, in Bemidji, Minn., to Fred Walsh and
Jean (nee) Brown Walsh.

He attended Clear Lake High School and was united in marriage
to Edith Mae Perham on March 18, 1935, in Northwood.

Donald had lived in Mason City for 53 years, moving from Burchinal
in 1942.

He served his country in the United States Army during World
War II and was stationed in Germany during that time.

Donald was employed by Armour Food Company for 35 years and
had been a resident of the Good Shepherd Care Center for the
past two years.

Donald was a life member of the Mason City Post 73 VFW. 

He loved the outdoors and nature. Donald enjoyed fishing, camping,
and travel with his family and friends.

He was an avid reader and a loving husband, father and grandfather.

Donald is survived by his wife, Edith Mae; a daughter, (Mrs.
James) Donna Jean Herrington of Grants Pass, Ore.; and a daughter-in-law,
Delma Walsh of Mason City; two sisters, Doris Simms of Mansfield,
Ohio, and Jean Allen of St. Paul, Minn. Donald had six grandchildren,
six great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Frances Walsh
in November of 1992; two brothers, Richard Walsh and
Frances Frank Walsh; and a brother-in-law, Gene Perham.

Mario O'Leary Kelly
MASON CITY 

     Mario (O'Leary) Kelly, 66, of Mason City, died Saturday (Oct.
14, 1995) at North Iowa Mercy Health Center East.

A funeral Mass will be held 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph
Catholic Church, 502 Fifth St. S.E., with the Rev. Jack Paisley
officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery, Mason
City.

Visitation will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at Hogan-Bremer
Colonial Chapel, 126 Third St. N.E., where a prayer service will
be held 9:30 a.m. Wednesday.

Memorials may be given to the Cerro Gordo County Care Facility
in memory of Mario.

Mario was born Feb. 1, 1929, at Mason City, a daughter of
Howard O'Leary (Sr.) and Mary O'Leary (nee) Colby.

Mario attended Mason City schools, and was a graduate of Mason
City High School.

She is survived by her mother, Mary O'Leary of Clear Lake; one
brother, Howard (Jr.) O'Leary and his wife, Audrey, of Clear Lake;
and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father and one brother,
Hanford O'Leary.

Elbert J. Green
WODEN  

     Services for Elbert J. Green, 89, of Woden, who died Monday
(Oct. 16, 1995) at Hancock County Memorial Hospital in Britt,
will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday at the First Presbyterian Church
in Woden, with the Rev. James Chambers officiating. Burial will
be in the Bingham Township Cemetery in Woden.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the  Cataldo Funeral
Chapel, Woden.

Elbert John Green, the son of Daniel Green and Anna (nee) Kanitz Green,
was born July 14, 1906, at Corwith.

He attended the rural schools near Corwith and also Corwith
Community Schools.

Elbert farmed with his family in the Corwith, Kanawha and Woden
areas for several years.

On March 27, 1935, he married Anna I. Rieken at the First Presbyterian
Church in Woden.

 They farmed southeast of Woden until they retired in April
of 1979 and moved into town. 

Due to ill health, they moved to the Westview Care Center in
Britt in November of 1993.

He enjoyed his great-grandchildren, family, friends, church
work and farming.

He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church where he had
served on the board. He was also a board member for Bingham Township
Schools.

He is survived by his wife, Anna Green of Britt; his daughter,
Virginia Vrieze and her husband, Gerald, of Britt; three grandchildren,
LeAnn Lamaak and her husband, Keith; Marcia Kluver and her husband,
Bruce, and LeRoy Vrieze and his wife, Diane, all of Britt; five
great-grandchildren, Brett Kluver, Amber Kluver, Jennifer Vrieze,
Jolene Vrieze and Jill Vrieze; two sisters, Bertha Davis of Longmont,
Colo., and Beulah Green of Britt; a brother, William G. Green
and his wife, Laura, of Wesley; and a sister-in-law, Helen Green
of Decatur, Ill.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Ethel Halligan;
and three brothers, Edward Green, Carl Green and Harold Green.

Lloyd W. Swancutt
RICEVILLE  

     Lloyd W. Swancutt, 76, of rural Riceville, died Thursday (Oct.
12, 1995) at his home.

A memorial service will be held 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 24,
at the United Methodist Church, Riceville, with the Rev. John
Gilbert officiating.

There is no visitation. His body was willed to the Mayo Clinic
for ALS research.

Lindstrom Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Lloyd W. Swancutt was born May 28, 1919, on the family farm
one and one-half miles east of Riceville.

Survivors include his wife, Kathaleen, of rural Riceville; one
daughter, Kathleen Peterson of Lake Mills; one sister,
Anita Minnis of Riceville; three stepsons, Vance Kessler,
David Kessler and Brian Kessler;
two grandsons; and three stepgrandsons.

     Judith Preuschl, 54, of Algona, died Monday (Oct. 16, 1995)
at the Kossuth Regional Health Center.

be in St. Benedict Catholic Cemetery, St. Benedict.

Funeral Home, Algona, with a 3 p.m. rosary and a 7:30 p.m. parish
prayer service.

Judith Preuschl was born Feb. 4, 1941, in Algona.

Survivors include her husband, Donald L. Preuschl of St. Benedict;
five sons, Donald John Preuschl of Coralville, Daniel Allen Preuschl
of Algona, Jerry Patrick Preuschl of Algona, Dean Edward Preuschl
of Wesley and Dana Michael Preuschl of Algona; one grandson;
her stepmother, Henrietta Tripp of New Ulm, Minn.; and four brothers,

of Riverside and David Tripp of Centerville.

Harold Grein
ST. BENEDICT 

     Harold Grein, 60, of St. Benedict, died Tuesday (Oct. 17, 1995)
at the Kossuth County Care Facility.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Benedict
Catholic Church, with Father Lynn Bruch officiating. Burial will
be in St. Benedict Cemetery, with military graveside services
conducted by the VFW and American Legion of Algona.

Visitation will begin 2:30 p.m. Thursday at the Geilenfeld-Murphy-Schaaf
Funeral Home, Algona,  with a 3 p.m. parish rosary and a 7:30
p.m. parish prayer service.

Harold Grein was born Nov. 16, 1934, in St. Benedict.

Survivors include three brothers, Leland Grein and Kenneth Grein,
both of Algona, and Ronald Grein of Mason City.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Bertha H. Schaer
MASON CITY 

     Bertha H. Schaer, 73, of 216 13th Place N.E., died Tuesday
(Oct. 17, 1995) at North Iowa Mercy Health Center East.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Friday at St. James Lutheran
Church, 1148 Fourth St. S.E., with the Rev. David Anderson officiating.
Burial will be in Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Major Erickson
Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave., with a 6:30 p.m. Women
of the Moose Memorial Service, and further visitation one hour
prior to services at the church.

Memorials may be given to the Bertha H. Schaer Memorial fund.

Bertha H. Schaer was born Nov. 21, 1921, in Mason City, the
daughter of Basil Cory and Lena Cory (nee) Lucas.

Bertha married Harold A. Schaer on Dec. 10, 1938, in Mason City
and lived her entire life here.

She was a member of the St. James Lutheran Church, Women of
the Moose and the VFW.

She enjoyed dancing, bingo and going to the stock car races.

Survivors include three sons, Donald A. (Sr.) Schaer. and his wife,
Sharon, of Reeds Spring, Mo.; Harold (Butch Jr.) Schaer of Rochester,

Stella Jensen of Morristown, Tenn.; Elberta Crowe of Mason City, and
Marjorie Pike of Fairfield Bay, Ark.; 26 grandchildren; 
42 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harold
in 1986; three brothers, Rueben Cory, Hank Cory and Oscar Cory; and
one grandson, Scott Olson.

Dorothy `Dottie' M. Hentscher
CLEAR LAKE 

     Dorothy ``Dottie'' M. Hentscher, 71, of 309 Sixth Ave., S.,
died Tuesday (Oct. 17, 1995) at Iowa Methodist Medical Center,
Des Moines.
                                                              
Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. John's
Lutheran Church, rural Garner. The Rev. Carl Hedberg of St. John's
Lutheran Church and the Rev. Frederick Wood of Bethlehem Lutheran
Church, Mason City, will officiate. Burial will be in St. John's
Cemetery, rural Garner.

Visitation will be present from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Ward-Van
Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 N. Fourth St.

Those wishing to make a memorial contribution may do so in Dottie's
name.

Dottie was born March 8, 1924, in St. Louis, Mo., the daughter
of Charles M. Stecher and Bertha L. Stecher (nee) Haack.

She attended and graduated from Kirkwood High School in St.
Louis in 1942.

She was united in marriage to Daniel F. Hentscher on June 2,
1946, in St. Louis, Mo.

The couple lived in St. Louis until he entered the seminary
in Springfield, Ill.

 They lived in the Midwest while the Rev. Hentscher served several
Missouri Synod Lutheran churches including St. John's Lutheran
Church in rural Garner from 1968 to 1972.

 They moved to Minnesota, but after her husband's death in 1984,
Dottie moved to Clear Lake.

Dottie's family was always at the center of her life.

Her hobbies included traveling, reading, sewing and nature.
She also enjoyed working as a receptionist at Design Studio in
Clear Lake.

She was a member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Mason City
and served as a treasurer of the Progress Club in Clear Lake.

She is survived by her children, David Hentscher and his wife,
Linda, of Des Moines; Daniel Hentscher and his wife, Julie, of
Red Bud, Ill.; Dianne Anderson and her husband, Bruce, of Forest
City; Debbie Roseland and her husband, Jim, of Thornton;
Dana Toppin and her husband, Gene, of Clear Lake, and Denise Hentscher
of St. Louis, Mo.; a sister, Dolores Fischer and her husband,
Irwin, of Camdenton, Mo.; and nine grandchildren, Allen, Scott,
Cori and Jodi Hentscher, Brian and Crystal Anderson, Julie and
Matt Roseland and Andrea Toppin.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a brother,
Donald Stecher; and an infant sister.

Ruby Ann Jansen
MASON CITY  

     Ruby Ann Jansen, 78, formerly of 605 S. Polk Ave., Apt. 3, died
Wednesday (Oct. 18, 1995) at Good Shepherd Healthcare Center.

Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Friday at Hogan-Bremer
Colonial Chapel, 126 Third St. N.E. Burial will be in Memorial
Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today and until time of
services  Friday at the funeral chapel.

Ruby Ann was born June 23, 1917, in Mason City, daughter of
Joseph Portis and Nettie (nee) Latham Portis.

She married Raymond John Jansen on Nov. 12, 1935.

Ruby enjoyed family and friends. She also enjoyed reading, playing
cards and doing handicrafts. She was active in many activities
at Grant Village until illness forced her to stop.

Survivors include four children, Bonnie Bulow and her husband,
Victor, of Wyoming, Minn.; Jeanne Moorehead and her husband,
Richard, of Nora Springs; David Jansen and his wife, Arica, Clinton,
and Gary Jansen of Mason City; 15 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren;
one sister, Marion Dahlstrom, Mason City; and three brothers,
Donald Portis of Missouri, Walter Portis of Mason City, and
Kenneth Portis of Riceville.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one sister
in infancy; two nephews; and one great-niece.

Lawrence D. Marlow
MASON CITY 

     Lawrence D. Marlow, 76, of 643 Fourth St. N.E., died Tuesday
(Oct. 17, 1995) at the Muse Norris Inpatient Unit.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. today at the First  Assembly
of God Church, 1301 N. Carolina Ave., with the Rev. Charles Westendorf
of Mason City and the Rev. David French of First Assembly of
God officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery with
a flag folding ceremony by the Mason City Memorial Association.

Visitation will be  until noon today at the Major Erickson Funeral
Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave., and one hour before services
at the church.

Memorials may be given to the Lawrence D. Marlow memorial fund.

Lawrence D. Marlow was born Dec. 15, 1918, in Tama, the son
of George (1) Marlow and Mariah Marlow (nee) Tremble.

Lawrence attended schools in Tama. He served in the United
States Army from 1940-1941. He married Reva Estel on Dec. 17,
1941, in Tama.

Lawrence worked most of his life in Tama at the Tama Hatchery.
He moved to Mason City in 1960 and worked for Zeidler Concrete
in Clear Lake.

In 1970 he went to work for Mercy Hospital and worked there
until he retired in 1980.

He married Shirley Westendorf on Feb. 24, 1973, at the Little
Brown Church in Nashua.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley Marlow of Mason City; four
daughters, Maureen Leake and her husband, Harlan, of Mason City;
Ann Dirks of Thornton; Marge Benson and her husband, Garry, of
New Hampton, and Jeannie Conrad and her husband, Gary, of  Sheffield;
two sons, George (2) Marlow and his fiancee, Shannon, of Mason City,
and Jim Marlow and his wife, Connie, of Charles City; 11 grandchildren;
nine great-grandchildren; and one sister, Beatrice Robinson of
Mason City.

He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Henry Marlow,
Virgil Marlow, Tom Marlow, and Elmer Marlow; and 
three sisters, Rhoda, Ruth and Emma; one son-in-law, Jerry Dirks; 
and one granddaughter, Jean Smith.

Richard F. Kastler
MAZEPPA, Minn. 

     Richard F. Kastler, 65, of rural Mazeppa, died Tuesday (Oct.
17, 1995) at his home.

Funeral services will be held 1:30 p.m. Friday at the French
Church, three miles east of Woolstock, Iowa, with Gerald Caquelin
officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the Vine Funeral
Home, 428 Third Ave. S.W., Rochester.

Richard F. Kastler was born Sept. 20, 1930,  in Woolstock to
Robert Kastler and Gladys Kastler (nee) Loux. 
He was a graduate of Woolstock High School.

He attended Eagle Grove Junior College and graduated from Iowa
State University in Ames with a B.S. degree in civil engineering.

On Dec. 26, 1955, he was united in marriage to Marilyn L. Haase
at Clear Lake, Iowa.

In 1953 he started working in Mason City, Iowa, as an engineer.
In 1964 he became a partner in Wallace, Holland, Kaster, Schmitz
and Company.

 In 1966, he moved to rural Rochester to open a Minnesota office.
He moved to Mazeppa in 1985 and had lived there since.

He was a member of the Rochester Downtown Rotary Club, and served
on the National Arbitration Board. He was a member of the American
Society of Civil Engineers. He was also a member of St. Paul's
Lutheran Church of Pine Island.

Survivors include his beloved wife, Marilyn; two sons,
Kevin Kastler and his wife, Amy, of rural Mazeppa, and Lou and his
wife, Kathleen of Rochester; five grandchildren, Katie, Laura
and Emily Kastler, and LeeAnna and Richard Kastler; three brothers,
Carol Kastler of Mason City, Larry Kastler of Woolstock, and
Kenneth Kastler of Texas.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Gladys.
