CHARLES CITY  

Leo J. Schula, 92, died Tuesday (Nov. 7, 1995) at the Floyd
County Memorial Hospital.

A funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Immaculate
Conception Church, with the Rev. Walter Brunkan officiating.
Burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 12:30 to 9 p.m. today at the Hauser
Funeral Home, 1206 South Main St. The Knights of Columbus will
recite the rosary at 7 p.m. today and will be followed by a vigil
Scripture service at 7:30 p.m.  Visitation will continue one
hour prior to services at the church on Saturday.

For those wishing to make a memorial contribution, the family
suggests giving to the Immaculate Conception Church, the Charles
City Municipal Summer Band, the Charles City Library or to the
organization of your choice.

Leo J. Schula was born May 11, 1903, at Stanton, Neb.

Survivors include one brother, Jerome Schula of Villamont, Va.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.

Helen Kozak
NORTHFIELD, Minn.  

Helen Kozak, 77, of Northfield, and formerly of the Rudd and
Charles City, Iowa, areas, passed away Thursday (Nov. 9, 1995)
at the Northfield hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at St. Peter's
Lutheran Church, Northfield.  Graveside services will be held
at 11 a.m. Monday at Sunnyside Memory Gardens in Charles City,
Iowa. 

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the Bierman
Funeral Home, Northfield.

Helen Kozak is survived by her husband, Boris; daughter
Sharyl Frykman and her husband, Harvey, of Northfield; grandson,
William Frykman of Grand Forks, N.D.; brothers, Dick (Lolly) Handt of
Charles City, Iowa; Robert (Wilma) Handt of Charles City, Iowa;
and Willis (Shielah) Handt of Mason City, Iowa; sister-in-law,
Helen Handt of Tucson, Ariz.; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Florence Field;
and brother, Charles Handt.

CHARLES CITY  

Jerry W. Trask, 60, of Charles City, died Wednesday (Nov. 8,
1995) at his home.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Saturday at Immaculate
Conception Catholic Church, Charles City, with the Rev. Raymond
Burkle officiating.  Burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery.
There will be a flag presentation at the graveside by the Charles
City Ceremonial Unit.

Visitation will be held from 3 to 9 p.m. today at Hauser Funeral
Home, Charles City, and from 9 a.m. to noon at the funeral home
on Saturday.  Visitation will continue from 12:30 p.m. until
time of services at the church.

Gerald William Trask was born Jan. 5, 1935, in Charles City.

Survivors include one sister, Joyce Mehmen of Palm Desert, Calif.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Dennis P. Olmsted
ONALASKA, Wis.  

Dennis P. Olmsted, 56, of Onalaska, and formerly of Kensett,
Iowa, and Kasson, Minn., died Tuesday (Nov. 7, 1995) at his home.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. at St. John's Lutheran
Church, Kasson, Minn., with the Rev. Curtis Johnson officiating.
Burial will be in the Kensett Cemetery.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church.
Dibble Funeral Home, Kasson, Minn., is in charge of arrangements.

Dennis Patrick Olmsted was born June 16, 1939, in Mason City,
Iowa.

Survivors include his brothers, Ferris Olmsted of Mason City,
Iowa; Douglas Olmsted of Comanche, Iowwa; Travis Olmsted of Las
Vegas, Nev., and Evans Olmsted of Albert Lea, Minn.; and one
sister, Helen Hahn of Kensett, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Leona Winfield
GREENE  

Leona Winfield, 77, of Greene, died Wednesday (Nov. 8, 1995)
at Floyd County Memorial Hospital, Charles City.

The body was donated to the University of Iowa Department of
Anatomy.  There will be no visitation or services.  Hauser Funeral
Home, Charles City, is in charge of arrangements.

Leona Marie Collar Winfield was born May 11, 1918, in Jeffers,
Minn.

Survivors include four sons, Paul of Arnold, Neb.; Kurt of Chehalif,
Wash.; Leigh of Fort Collins, Colo., and Gary of Plainfield;
10 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother and
sister.

Helen E. Thorne
MASON CITY  

Helen E. Thorne, 88, formerly of 912 N. Polk Ave.,  died Monday
(Nov. 6, 1995) at the Good Shepherd Healthcare Center.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. today at Hogan-Bremer Colonial
Chapel, 126 Third St. N.E., with the Elder Ronald Graff of Jehovah's
Witnesses Kingdom Hall officiating. Burial will be in Memorial
Park Cemetery.

Visitation was held from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral
chapel and is until time of services today at the funeral chapel.

Helen E. Thorne was born Oct. 10, 1907, in Winnipeg, Canada,
daughter of Bill Claroye and Ida Bell Claroye.

She was married to Carl Banken and he preceded her in death
in November of 1979.

She then married Orval R. Thorne and he preceded her in death
in May of 1992.

Helen was born in Canada and has lived the past 60 years in
the Mason City area.

She worked for State Brand Creamery as a butter packer for 22
years.

She enjoyed collecting stuffed animals and loved children.

Survivors include one stepdaughter, Betty Jackson of Shenandoah;
many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and numerous special
friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter,
Mary Hansen; her first husband; and her second husband.

Earl L. Jacobs
NORTHWOOD  

Earl L. Jacobs, 86, of 207 S. 12th St,. died Wednesday (Nov.
8, 1995) at the Lutheran Retirement Home.

A funeral Mass will be held 9:30 a.m. today at Sacred Heart
Catholic Church, Manly, with the Rev. Thomas McAndrew officiating.
Burial will be 4 p.m. today in the Harlan Cemetery, Harlan, with
Monsignor Edward Kelly of St. Michael Catholic Church of Harlan
officiating.

Conner Colonial Chapel, 99 11th St. S., is handling arrangements.

Earl was born Aug. 29, 1909, at Atlantic.

Survivors include his wife, Elaine Jacobs of Northwood; three
sons, Wayne Jacobs of New Hope, Minn.; Jerry Jacobs of Leland
and Melvin Jacobs of Sun City, Ariz.; one daughter, Janice Rayburn
of Las Vegas, Nev.; 17 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren;
one brother, Pearl Jacobs, Muskogee, Okla.

He was preceded in death by his parents and five brothers.

Marian L. Schaack
MASON CITY  

Marian L. Schaack, 68, of 414 S. Garfield Ave., and formerly
of Waterloo, died Tuesday (Nov. 7, 1995) at St. Mary's Hospital,
Rochester, Minn.

A Mass of the Resurrection will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday
at St. Joseph's Catholic Church,  Mason City, with the Rev. Carl
A. Ries officiating.  Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Major Erickson Funeral
Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.

Marian L. Schaack was born Dec. 30, 1926, the daughter of Casper
Oscar Johnson and Laura (nee) Thompson Johnson in Scarville.
Marian attended Mason City schools and the University of Northern
Iowa where she obtained her teaching certificate.  Marian married
James Schaack on Oct. 16, 1948, in Waterloo.  She taught in the Geneseo
School District for one year.  She then worked at John Deere
and was a longtime employee of Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo.
James and Marian moved to Mason City in September of 1991, where
she was a volunteer at North Iowa Mercy Health Center.  She was
a very family oriented person and devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church and St. Ann's
Ladies Circle.  She was a very active member of church functions
in Waterloo and Mason City.  Marian also belonged to a ladies
card club in Waterloo.

Survivors include her husband, James Schaack of Mason City;
seven children, Maria Kaumans and her husband, Ollie Williams
of Belmond; Bill Schaack and his wife, Ladonna of Grundy Center;
Kathleen Tzotchev and her husband, Nasko of Phoenix, Ariz.;
Don Schaack and his wife, Sharie of Fairmont, Minn.; Paul Schaack
and his wife, Dailey of Nelson Lagoon, Alaska; Sarah Ronemous
and her husband, Dave of Mason City, and Wayne Schaack and his
wife, Julie of Phoenix, Ariz.; two brothers, Dwayne Johnson of
Mason City and Quentin Johnson of Alaska; two sisters, Jean LaFave
and Bonnie Sonnenfeld, both of Minnesota; 13 grandchildren, Jason
and Adam Kaumans, Justin, Jerrod and James Schaack,
Danielle Lopez and Adam Cline, Gage, Candace and Jeremy Schaack,
Erica, Kyle and Chelsea Ronemous; and two great-grandchildren, Mason
and Jonathan Kaumans.

Lois Holt Peterson Horton
BRANDENTON, Fla. 

Lois Holt Peterson Horton was born April 12, 1900 in Bardwell,
Ky., and died Wednesday (Oct. 18, 1995) in Brandenton, Fla.

She was the daughter of Anna (nee) Lawson Holt and
William Lindsey Holt.

She later moved to Vincennes, Ind., where she attended  Vincennes
High School. As a junior, she played Alice in the senior class
play ``Alice of Old Vincennes'' and was well remembered there
for her portrayal.

In 1922, she graduated from Brenau College in Gainesville, Ga.,
where she belonged to Alpha Chi Omega, and was invited to membership
in Zeta Phi Eta and Mu Phi Epsilon honorary music and speech
sororities.

After graduating, she taught speech and drama at Brenau for
two years and then travled with what was then known as ``Chatauqua,''
appearing in plays and productions around the country.

Subsequently, Mrs. Horton spent virtually her entire adult life
as a choir director and soloist in church choirs, beginning with
the choir at Wesley Methodist Church, Mason City, Iowa, which
her first husband, the Rev. Paul Peterson, built.

After retiring, her final service was to the Fair Lane Acres
Chorus in Brandenton, Fla., which she organized and directed
for 20 years.

As a summer resident of Erie over some 20 years, she was a member
of the 9-hole Golf League at Overlake Golf Course, and an associate
member of the First United Presbyterian Church of the Covenant.

Survivors include her daughter, Anne Kloss (Mrs. J. William)
of Erie, Pa.; four grandchildren, Kathryn George of Ipswich,
Mass.; Dorothy Kloss, of Erie, Pa.; David Kloss of Mansfield,
Conn.; and Elizabeth Kramer of Philadelphia, Pa.; and seven
great-grandchildren.

Services were held on Monday, Oct. 23, 1995, at Christ United
Methodist Church, in Brandenton, Fla.

Memorials may be made to the Vicary Organ Endowment Fund, First
United Presbyterian Church of the Covenant, 250 W. Seventh St.,
Erie, Pa. 16502; or to Wesley United Methodist Church, 1400 S.
Pennsylvania Ave., Mason City, Iowa 50401.

Burton Funeral Homes, 602 West. 10th St., Erie, Pa. was in charge
of arrangements.

Gerald L. `Jerry' Moyer
MASON CITY  

Gerald L. ``Jerry'' Moyer, 53, of 202 Willowbrook Drive, Mason
City, and formerly of Quincy, Ill., died Thursday (Nov. 9, 1995)at
12:28 a.m. at North Iowa Mercy Health Center East, Mason City,
Iowa.

Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. at the Hansen-Spear
Funeral Home, 1535 State, Quincy, Ill. and 10 a.m. at St. Peter's
Catholic Church, 2600 Main Street, Quincy, with the Rev. Roy
Bauer officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Quincy.

Memorials may be given to Quincy Notre Dame and the Ladies of
Charity in his memory in care of Hansen-Spear Funeral Home.

Gerald L. Moyer was born Oct. 5, 1942 in Quincy, Ill., a son
of Edmond Moyer and Margaret (nee) Blaesing Moyer.

He was a 1960 graduate of Christian Brothers High School and
he attended Quincy College. He graduated from Iowa State University
in 1966.

He was united in marriage to Nancy Reagan on July 22, 1967 in
Quincy.

He was a United States Navy veteran serving as a lieutenant
on the U.S.S. Bennington during the Vietnam War.

He was employed by Archer Daniel Midland, Lincoln Grain and
other various agricultural related companies. He was currently
a manager for AGP, Inc., a soybean processing plant.

He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Mason City,
the Knights of Columbus, the Elks, and Ducks Unlimited.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy Moyer of Mason City; three
daughters, Mrs. Aaron (Kristin) Andrews of Mason City,
Karin Moyer of Mason City, and Katherine Moyer of Mason City;
and one brother, Norman Peter, of Quincy, Ill.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

MASON CITY

(Nov. 10, 1995) at the Good Shepherd Nursing Home.

Doug: This woman died at a truck stop in Sioux Falls,S.D. She
and her husband drive Winnebago together. They were having breakfast
and she commented she couldn't breath and that it all she wrote!

She died right there in the truck stop.

at Sioux Falls, S.D.

officiating. Burial will be in the Boone Township Cemetery, Stilson.

Ankeny, Linda Meyer, Rockwell, and Christine Morton, Latimer;
three sons, Cecil Hansen Jr., Austin, Minn., Donald and
Michael Hansen, both of Rockwell; four sisters, Delores and
Marjorie Faught, both of Mason City, Erma Haarup, Hubbard, and
Donna Kruckenberg, Rockwell; and 18 grandchildren and three
great-grandchildren.

He was prececed in death by his father, one brother, Donald;
and two sisters, as an infant, Donnella, and Darlene Culver.

Beatrice ``Bea'' M. Ellis was born Sept. 21, 1914, at Hansel,
the daughter of Harley E. Seward and Iva S. (nee) Tucker Seward.
She moved to Mason City at the age of 5.  She graduated from Mason City
High School in 1932.  She worked at Jacob E. Deckers until she
was married to Arthur W. Ellis on Sept. 3, 1943, in Mason City.
She worked as a bookkeeper for A and B Autobody, which her husband
was part owner.

She was a charter member of Wesley United Methodist Church.
She enjoyed getting together with her high school classmates
on a regular basis at breakfast once a month.  She also enjoyed
ceramics, reading, knitting and crocheting.

Survivors include one daughter, Susan Findlay, and husband,
Gary, Pensacola, Fla.; two brothers, Kenny Seward, Nora Springs,
and George Seward, LeGrand; one sister, Edna James Hinman, Normal,
Ill.; three grandchildren, Christian, Amy and Jennifer; two
great-grandchildren, Ashley and Randy; several nieces and nephews, and
her close friends, Joan and Robert Watson, and Robert and
Vivian Morris.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband.

Robert James Comer, 77, of Clear Lake, died Saturday (Nov. 11,
1995) at Oakwood Care Center.

Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Ward-Van

and burial will be in Clear Lake Cemetery.

sisters, Carolyn St. James, Spearfish, S.D., Joan Catlett,

Cecil V. Hansen, 70, of 9960 Nettle Ave.,  Rockwell, died Friday
(Nov. 10, 1995) at Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason
City.

at St. Peter Lutheran Church, Rockwell. Officiating will be the

Cecil was born to Cornelius Hansen and Ida (nee) Roggemann Hansen
on May 6, 1925, in Bath Township.  He was a lifelong resident of Rockwell
where he graduated from high school and then farmed.  Cecil was
united in marriage to Kathleen J. McNamara on May 23, 1945, in
Rockwell and to this union were born six children.  He was a
member of St. Peter Lutheran Church where he served as the treasurer
for 32 years and the custodian and grounds keeper for many years.
He also served on the Burchinal Co-op for nine years and was
a trustee at Bath Township.  He was also a faithful member of
the Rockwell Lion's Club.  He enjoyed helping his sons with the
farm operations, advice, and doing carpentry projects.  Among
his jobs he made fire bats that people could use to break windows
in case of fire.  He spent immeasurable hours attending school,
church, and sporting events with his grandchildren as well as
babysitting them and six special children, Maci, Emily, Josi,
Matthew, Ethan and Cole.

Along with his wife, Kathleen, he is survived by  his mother,
Ida Hansen, both of Rockwell; three daughters, Judy  and her
husband, Kenneth Proctor, Ankeny, Linda and her husband,
Kenneth Meyer, Rockwell, and Christine and her husband, Kent Morton,
Latimer; three sons, Cecil Jr. and his wife, Connie, Austin,
Minn., Donald and his wife, Dawn, and Michael and his wife, Julie,
all of Rockwell; four sisters, Delores and her husband, Gary
Faught, and Marjorie and her husband, David Faught, all of Mason
City, Erma and her husband, Robert Haarup, Hubbard, and Donna
and her husband, David Kruckenberg, Rockwell; 18 grandchildren,
Bradley and his wife Theresa Proctor, Rebecca and her husband
Tracy Welty, Wendy and her husband, Doug Jorgensen, Schelly,
Penny and David Meyer, Justin, Amber and Brandon Morton, Cory,
Colby, Ryan, Scott, Jennifer, Katherine, Jonathan, Jordan and
Michaela Hansen; and three great-grandchildren, Benjamin and
Rachel Proctor, and Lisa Jorgensen

Cecil was preceded in death by his father, one brother, Donald;

August was born on May 20, 1897, in Odebolt, Iowa, the son of
William John Frevert and Mary (nee) Kessler Frevert.  He graduated
from the Rudd High School and then he farmed all of his life in the
Rudd-Rockford area until his retirement.  August was married to
Cora Ada Kollman on Feb. 22, 1923, at Rudd.  She preceded him
in death in 1973, he later was married to Pearl H. Davison on
March 8, 1980, at Lime Springs.  She also preceded him in death in
1987.  August joined the First United Methodist Church when he
moved to Mason City and was also a member of the Mason City Moose
Lodge, and was a 48-year memeber of the Rockford-Nora Springs Masonic
Lodge which he joined at the same time as his son, Maurice.  He is
a member of the Farm Bureau and a former member of the Rudd Lion's
Club.  His special interests included taking care and preparing
flowers for the Rudd United Methodist Chuch, constructing furniture,
tables, stools, magazine and book racks out of red cedar and
walnut that he had cut at his home, hunting with his sons and
had even put a trailer at Yellow River Preserve for trout fishing.
The last time he was fishing, he and his sons limited out on
Northern Pike.  He also loved music and was an avid participant
at the Good Shepherd nursing home.

He is survived by his two daughters, Wanda and her husband,
Donald Riechers, Diamond City, Ark, and Norma and her husband
Dale Anderson, Brooklyn Center, Minn.; three sons, Maurice and
his wife, Louise, Waterloo, Donald and his wife, Joyce, Urbandale,
and Lyle and his wife, Gert, Mound, Minn.; one brother, Merrill
and his wife, Eunice, West Union; and 18 grandchildren and 25
great-grandchildren.

He was prececed in death by his parents; his two wives, Cora
and Pearl, three brothers, Ben, Willard and Warren;
and two great-grandchildren, William and Kathryn Nelsen.

Colonial Chapel, 126 Third St. N.E., with the Rev. Sharon Betsworth

A lifetime resident, Pearl was born Aug. 17, 1908, at Manly,
a daughter of Fred Campbell and Blanche (nee) Wood Campbell.
She attended school at Manly.  On June 8, 1928, she married
Charles P. Nagel at First United Methodist Church, Mason City.

She was a very devoted mother and grandmother.  Her memberships
included First United Methodist Church, Women of the Moose, and
Eagles Lodge, all in Mason City.

She is survived by one daughter, Beverly Boyd and her husband,
Robert, Sioux Falls, S.D.; one son, Clifford Nagel and his wife,
Peggy, Tucson, Ariz.; seven grandchildren, Debra Hoffman, Sioux
Falls, S.D., Pamela Huckins, Sioux Falls, S.D., Robert C. Boyd,
Minneapolis, Minn., Mark Nagel, Des Moines, Susan Normandin,
Boise, Idaho, Sandra Cummins, Tucson, Ariz., and David Nagel,
Las Vegas, Nev.; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Bonnie C. Beers, 90, of Clear Lake, died Saturday (Nov. 11,

as officiant.  Burial will be in the Corwith City Cemetery in

Bonnie Campsa Beers, the daughter of Henry Benner and
Campsa (nee) Holden Benner, was born April 29, 1905 at Corwith.
She attended school in Britt where she graduated from Britt High
School in 1924 with a normal teaching certificate.  On March 20,
1926, she was married to Burdette W. Beers at the Christian
Reformed Church in Clarion.  She taught in rural schools of Hancock
County until 1936.  In 1956, she graduated from Mason City Junior
College in Mason City. Bonnie was an elementary teacher in the
Garner-Hayfield Community Schools until she retired in 1970; her
27th year of teaching.

        In 1961, Bonnie and Burdette moved from Garner to the Methodist
Camp in Clear Lake.  In 1970, they returned to Garner for one year
and then moved back to Clear Lake.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Ventura,
U.M.W. Society, Unity Chapter 58 O.E.S. of Mason City, Grand
Cross of Rainbow for Girls, Charity Rebekah Lodge 105 of Clear
Lake, Golden Club and the Retired Teachers Association of Cerro
Gordo County.

Survivors include her husband, Burdette Beers of Clear Lake;
three sons, Warren Beers and his wife, Anna Mae (nee) Juhl, Ventura,
Calif., Eldon Beers and his wife, JoAnn (nee) Hanna, Tipton, and
Bernard Beers and his wife, Frances (nee) Watkins, Sulphur Springs,
Texas; 13 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; a sister,
Nadine McCormick, Spencer; a brother, Duane Benner and his
wife, Tressa, Humboldt, Ariz.; and a sister-in-law, Lila Benner,
Mason City.

She was preceded in death by two grandsons, Dennis and

Emma Rose Knop, the daughter of Frank Rayhons and
Mary (nee) Urich) Rayhons was born Oct. 4, 1902, on a farm northwest
of Garner.  She attended the rural schools of Garfield Township.
On Aug. 2, 1927, she was married to Julius H. Knop at St.
Wenceslaus Catholic rectory at Duncan.  They farmed east of Garner
until 1955, when they retired and moved into Garner.  Due to ill
health, she moved to Concord Care Center in 1987.

Emma enjoyed sewing, cooking, flower gardening and caring
for her family.  She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church
and Ladies Aid.

Survivors include her husband, Julius Knop of Garner; three
sons, Harold Knop and his wife, Ruth, of Ventura, Ronald Knop
and his wife, Wilma, of Ventura, and Kenneth Knop and his wife,
Virginia, of Houston, Texas; 12 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren;
two sisters, Mrs. Albina Prohaska of Garner, and Mrs. Rose Kopacek
and her husband, Vincent, of Britt; and a sister-in-law, Mrs.
Agnes Rayhons of Garner.

She was prececed in death by an infant granddaughter,
Cheryl Knop in 1951; her parents; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Chizek on
May 19, 1980, and Mrs. Caroline Prohaska on March 17, 1988; and three
brothers, Frank Rayhons on Sept. 1, 1977, John Rayhons on Nov.
23, 1980, and Henry Rayhons on Dec. 12, 1981.

Mildred was born Sept. 12, 1898, the daughter of O.A. Kays and
Lillian (nee) Peterson Kays, in Waterloo.  She graduated from
Waterloo West  High School in 1917, and the Waterloo Secretarial
School the following year.  She worked in Mortimer Cleveland's
Architectural Office in Waterloo for eight years typing specifications,
making blueprints and keeping the books.  She became engaged to
Karl Waggoner, one of the architects in the office and remained in
Waterloo when Karl came to Mason City in 1923 to open his own
architectural practice.  They would be married when the new practice
became productive and that happened four years later in 1927
with the commission to design the new school administration building
to replace the old building destroyed by fire.  Mason City was
to be her home for the next 68 years and they were years devoted
to family, friends, organizations she believe in, her church
and her community.

Mildred was an elder, deacon and past president of the women's
association of First Presbyterian Church.  She was a 57-year
member and past president of chapter GN of PEO, a long-time member
of Sorosis Study Club, the UGL Club, the Community Concert Association,
and the Women's Club serving as its vice president in the mid
50s.  During the years of World War II, she was county chairman
of Red Cross in charge of making 4,000 kit bags, shirts and pajamas
in support of the war effort.

Survivors include a son, Thomas Waggoner of Mason City; five
grandchildren, Karl Waggoner, Austin, Texas, Jean Waggoner Nicholas,
Bettendorf, Elizabeth Starks, Chicago, Ill., Nancy Starks Beavers,
Mason City, and Ed Starks, Miami, Fla.; and seven great-grandchildren,
Katheryn Kays Waggoner, Karaline Waggoner, Jeremy Beavers,
Mark Beavers, Nicole Nicholas, Steven Nicholas and Kyle Nicholas.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Karl; a daughter,
Barbara Waggoner Starks; a grandson, Steven Thomas Waggoner;
a sister, Velma Kays Wise; and a nephew, Robert Wise.

Dennis P. Olmsted
ONALASKA, WIS.

Dennis P. Olmsted, 56, of Onalaska, Wis., formerly of Kensett and
Kasson, Minn., died Tuesday (Nov. 7, 1995) at his home.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday,
Nov. 11,  at St. John's Lutheran Church, Kasson, Minn., with
the Rev. Curtis Johnson officiating. Burial was in the Kensett
Cemetery.

Dibble Funeral Home, Kasson, Minn., was in charge of arrangements.

Dennis Patrick Olmsted was born June 16, 1939, in Mason City,
Iowa.

He grew up in Kensett, Iowa, and graduated from Kensett High
School in 1957.

He moved to Kasson, Minn., in 1961. He was an electrician for
Prescher Electric for many years.

On Feb. 14, 1962, he was united in marriage to Arladean Grant
in Mantorville. They were later divorced.

Mr. Olmsted had resided in Onalaska since 1986.

Survivors include his four daughters, Kathy Pollex of Onalaska,

Juanita Wells Buringrud, 69, of St. Ansgar, died Saturday (Nov. 11, 1995)
at the Good Samaritan Center, St. Ansgar.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday
at the Faith Lutheran Church, Mitchell, with the Rev. Rose Marie
Lewis officiating. Burial will be in the Ogden Cemetery, Mitchell.

Juanita Wells Buringrud was born July 30, 1926, in LaMesa, Texas.

Survivors include two daughters, Tommie Niland of El Paso, Texas,
and Wendy Arickx of Mitchell; one son, Michael of St. Ansgar;
eight grandchildren; two sisters, Betty Bennett of Houston, Texas,
and Inez Hardwick of Comstock, Texas; three brothers, Jim Wells
of Fort Worth, Texas, Royce Wells of Texas and Dennis Wells of
Lawton, Okla.

Darryl Gene Rawn, 30, of St. Ansgar, died Sunday (Nov. 12, 1995)
at the Mitchell County Regional Health Center, Osage.

Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Thursday at Immanuel
Lutheran Church with the Rev. Norman E. Betke officiating. Burial
will be in the Woodbury Cemetery, rural Lyle, Minn.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Schroeder
and Sites Funeral Home, 207 S. School St.

Darryl Gene Rawn was born Oct. 5, 1965, in Osage.

Survivors include his mother, Sharon Rawn of Osage; a daughter,
Carrie, of St. Ansgar; a son, Travis of St. Ansgar; three sisters,
Jill McCarville of Cresco, Susan Reentz of Minneapolis and
Carol Oulman of Osage; and one brother, Craig Rawn of Osage.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Ernest Dyer
MASON CITY

Ernest Dyer, 86, of Route 3, Mason City, died Monday (Nov. 13, 1995)
at the Oakwood Care Center, Clear Lake.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the
WardVan Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 N. Fourth St., Clear Lake,
with the Rev. Kent Dethlefsen officiating. Interment will be
in Elmwood St. Joseph Cemetery, Mason City.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, and one hour
prior to services on Thursday at the funeral home.

The family suggests memorials to the Ernest Dyer Memorial Fund.

Ernest was born Feb. 28, 1909, in Mason City, the son of
William Dyer and Nettie (nee) Urdahl Dyer.

He attended school in Mason City.

He worked at the sugar beet plant in Mason City and was engaged
in farming.

Ernest enjoyed going to farm and household auctions.

Ernest is survived by his sister, Marie Bonner of Clear Lake;
one brother, Laurence Dyer of Naples, Fla.; five nieces,
Janice Ward of Mason City, Patricia St. Mary of Naples, Fla.,
Shirley Walton of Belle Plaine, Minn., Marjorie Bartholmey of
Charles City, and Barbara Luckason of Kensett; four nephews,
Don Dyer of Naples, Fla., Jerry Ward of Swaledale, Donald Bonner
of Mason City and Duane Bonner of Thornton; and one aunt,
Lillian Woodstock of Minneapolis, Minn.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters,
Gladys Muldoon, Ruby Ward and Esther Dyer; two nephews; and one
grandnephew.

Ida Hansen
ROCKWELL

Ida Hansen, 95, of Rockwell, died Monday (Nov. 13, 1995) at the
Rockwell Community Nursing Home. She was preceded in death by her
son by three days.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at St.
Peter Lutheran Church with the Rev. Joseph A. Miller officiating.
Interment will be in the Rockwell Cemetery.

Visitation will begin 5 p.m. today at the Fullerton Funeral
Home, 120 S. Third St., Rockwell.

memorials to the Ida Hansen memorial fund.

Ida was born one of 11 children to John Roggemann and
Helene (nee) Lakemeinen Roggemann at Rockwell on May 14, 1900.

She attended rural schools in Owen Township.

She was united in marriage to Cornelius ``Neil'' Hansen on Jan.
23, 1918, in Rockwell. To this union were born eight children.

She lived her entire life in the Rockwell area, farming with
her husband and later moving to Rockwell in 1946.

She enjoyed caring for her grandchildren who fondly called her
``Granny.''

She was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church, an honorary member
of the WELCA, Birthday Club and the Rockwell Cemetery Association.

Ida is survived by four daughters, Deloris and her husband,
Gary Faught, Marjorie and her husband, David Faught, all of Mason
City, Erma and her husband, Robert Haarup of Hubbard, and Donna
and her husband, David Kruckenberg, of Rockwell; one sister,
Mrs. Jack (Helen) Shinn of Waterloo; one brother, Ed and his
wife, Betty, of Cedar Falls; a daughter-in-law, Kathleen Hansen
of Rockwell; a son-in-law, Junior Culver of Sheffield; 15 grandchildren,
Judy and her husband, Kenneth Proctor; Linda and her husband,
Kenneth Meyer; Christine and her husband, Kent Morton;
Cecil Jr. and his wife, Connie Hansen; Donald and his wife, Dawn Hansen;
Michael and his wife, Julie Hansen; Diane Quail; Debra Faught;
Cathy and her husband, Larry Scott; Vicki and her husband,
Paul Burgess; Randall Faught; Cheryl and her husband, Paul Luppen;
Jodi and her husband, John Degen; Jeanette and her husband,

Ida was preceded in death by her husband, Neil, in October of
1963; twins, Donald and Donnela; a daughter, Carlene Culver;
her son, Cecil Hansen; two grandsons; one granddaughter; six

sisters, Emma Muhlstein and Ann Roggemann.

Virginia M. `Dimp' Mortimer
MASON CITY

Virginia M. ``Dimp'' Mortimer, 89, of 236 N. Crescent Drive, died
Saturday (Nov. 11, 1995) at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in
the Wayside Chapel of First United Methodist Church, 119 S. Georgia
Ave., with the Rev. Merlin J. Ackerson officiating. Inurnment
was held at Memorial Park Cemetery.

memorials to Hospice of North Iowa or the First United Methodist
Church.

Fullerton Patterson James Funeral Chapel, 123 Second St. S.E.,
was chosen to be in charge of the arrangements.

Virginia was born on Oct. 3, 1906, in Lake Mills, a daughter
of Jens Tapager and Mary (nee) Willadsen Tapager.

She was baptized in 1906 and confirmed on June 5, 1921 at the
Salem Lutheran Church in Lake Mills. She graduated from the Lake
Mills High School in 1924.

She was united in marriage to George Mortimer on May 17, 1927,
in Minneapolis in a double ceremony with her father and his second
wife.

To this union were born two children. They lived in Belmond
until 1930 when they moved to Mason City where she has lived
ever since. ``Dimp,'' as she was known all her life, enjoyed
children and spent many years caring for them.

She sold Avon products and gave bridge lessons as well as enjoying
all sports.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church. She also
enjoyed playing bridge and attending functions at the Elks Lodge.

Virginia is survived by one son, Richard Mortimer of California;
three grandchildren, Mrs. Ross (Kay) McClintock, of Bakersfield,
Calif.; the Rev. Richard Mortimer of Tecumseh, Mich.; and
Alan Mortimer of Carlsbad, Calif.; seven greatgrandchildren;
one sister-in-law, Doris Tapager of Vallejo, Calif.; two nieces,
Mary Joy Norton, Carmen Buffington and two nephews, B.C. ``Jim''
and Ronald Burdick.

Dimp was preceded in death by her parents; stepmother,
Ella Tapager; husband in 1960; her son, Larry in 1986; three brothers,
Vernon, Roy and Cyril Tapager; two sisters, Ethel Tapager and
Merle Burdick; and a daughterinlaw, Dorothy.

Robert James Comer
CLEAR LAKE

Robert James Comer, 77, of 705 12th Ave. N., Clear Lake, died
Saturday (Nov. 11, 1995) at Oakwood Care Center, Clear Lake.

Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the
Ward Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 N. Fourth St., Clear Lake.
The body was cremated and inurnment will be in Clear Lake Cemetery.

The family will be at the funeral home onehalf hour before Thursday's
services to greet friends. They suggest memorials may be made
to Zion Lutheran Church, Clear Lake.

Robert was born March 31, 1918, in Farley, Iowa, a son of
George Edward Comer and Olive M. (nee) Lamb Comer. He graduated
from Dubuque Senior High School in 1935. He also graduated from
Bayless Business College in Dubuque.

He served as a sergeant in the United States Air Force during
World War II. He devoted three and a half  years of his life
to military service.

On Nov. 9, 1947, he was united in marriage to
Maybelle A. Sammie Wilson in Spring Grove, Minn.

He was employed by National Cash Register (NCR) as a service
manager in Dubuque, Iowa for 20 years. He then transferred to
Duluth, Minn. for two years; Davenport, Iowa, for one year; and
Cedar Rapids, Iowa, for two years. He began his own business,
Comer Cash Registers, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

He moved to Clear Lake in 1972 and was employed as an NCR cash
register salesman in Mason City from 1972 until his retirement
in 1983. He owned and operated Comer Cash Register until 1995.

His hobbies included gardening.

He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Clear Lake.

While living in Dubuque, he was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran
Church and a former member of that church council. He also served
as a member of the Board of Directors for the Martin Luther Home
in Dubuque.

He is survived by his wife, Maybelle (Sammie) Comer, of Clear
Lake; a daughter, Roberta Ann (Bobbi) BrunsMcQuistan of Atlanta,
Ga.; two grandchildren, Robyn Rae Davidson and her husband, David,
of Clear Lake, and Paul Robert Bruns of Clear Lake.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son,
Kent Wilson Comer; and three brothers, Dale Comer, Edward Comer,
and Glen Comer.

Lauralie R. Packer
MASON CITY

Lauralie R. Packer, 64, of 116 S. Madison Ave., died Sunday
(Nov. 12, 1995) at her home.

A funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at
St. Joseph Catholic Church, 302 Fifth St. S.E., with the Rev.
Carl A. Ries officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood St. Joseph
Cemetery.

Visitation will begin at 4 p.m. today at the HoganBremer Colonial
Chapel, 126 Third St. N.E., with a 7 p.m. scriptural prayer service.

Lauralie R. Packer was born Aug. 16, 1931, in Waverly, a daughter
of Lloyd Woodruff and Martha (nee) Rhode Woodruff.

She was married to Melvin Ray Packer on March 4, 1972, in Garner.
He preceded her in death on June 7, 1984.

Lauralie was a woman who lived for one reason, her family. First
for her children and then for her grandchildren. She considered
being able to see her greatgrandchildren an extra special blessing.

She enjoyed cooking, baking, canning and gardening and loved
to help others.

Lauralie was a member of the REACT CB Club and was known as
RoadRunner. She served with pride the many new friends she made
at the holiday coffee stops on the Interstate. She considered
this to be not a duty, but a privilege.

Survivors include four daughters, Margo Heck and her husband,
Vernon, of Guttenberg, Debra Martin and her husband, Eldon, of
Mason City, Lynda Mugan and her husband, Ralph, of Mason City,
and Tammy Mugan and her husband, Allan, of Mason City; two sons,
Lloyd Walker of Volga, Iowa, and Michael Gallup of Florence,
Ariz.; 20 grandchildren; seven greatgrandchildren; five sisters,
Jeannie Sherman of Chicago, Ill., Winnie Paul of Las Vegas, Nev.,
Jodi Cortina of Chicago, Ill., Marge Stewart of Louisiana and
Glorida Reeder of Chicago, Ill.; one brother, Michael Woodruff
of Chicago, Ill.; and several nieces and nephews.
